hot take as a nb person, but defining sexualities by their attraction to nb people like do with men and women is missing the point as whole. nonbinary is explicitly neither make or female and you can't define it in sexuality, anyone can be attracted to nb people.

I've finally cracked the code. Shoto Todoroki, Prince Zuko, and Keith Kogane are all quite nearly the same character and I will demonstrate
all 3 of them:
vaguely East Asian
emo bangs
rad face scars from a parental figure
that "skinny muscular" build
16-17
often hot headed but not mean or malicious
very skilled in combat
have at least one arc about them getting more skilled while learning something about themselves
over the course of the show their outward demeanor loosens and relaxes while still maintaining the "annoyed friend" persona
Zuko and Todoroki:
fire abilities
their scars are almost identical
missing mothers
abusive fathers which are also fire users of high standing
"I'm never happy"
started as enemies or rivals to the main character but got overwhelmed by their unending goodness and joined them (aang and deku have many similarities)
both got their scars from a parental figure caressing their face
Zuko and Keith:
the red coded character of the group
often shipped with the blue coded, brown skinned, possibly bi, funny man of the group (sokka and lance are also very similar)
visible hair glo up throughout the show
thought their mom was dead but was actually just in hiding
excellent swordsman
goes ninja mode
guiding parental figure with silver hair (iroh and shiro)
I honestly couldn't find many similarities between just Keith and Todoroki which leads me to believe that they were both based on or heavily inspired by Zuko's character. I'm willing to bet that if we keep getting characters like this it might become it's own sub archetype of character

so I've noticed that when it comes to parents who have very introverted teen kids at home, they often try to minimize the "utility" of their bedroom so they're forced to interact with everyone else and come out of their room but the exact opposite is the case. I'm extremely introverted at home but recently my parents have let my room is become like a tiny apartment: I have not only a bed but a small couch, tv, desk, plenty of books, and even a coffee pot. I'm basically a mini fridge away from being pretty much self sufficient. but rather than cause me to stay in my room all day, I come out more often bc I'm more comfortable. when introverts are more comfortable they'll be willing to interact more. back when my room was pretty spartan I didn't feel comfortable in my own space and so didn't feel comfortable in any part of the house. introverted kids need to feel comfortable and self reliant so they can easily shed their inhabitions so they can feel comfortable around others too

there should be more interaction between Hestia and Hephaestus! since he's the god of fire and she's the god of hearths (controlled fires like a fireplace) I could totally see a story abt Hestia teaching her young nephew Hephaestus to channel and control his powers to help make forges. all in all there just needs to be more stories of the Greek gods (or any other pantheon) interacting like actual family and learning from each other abt their related powers
