hot take: there is no way that empathy is actually a real thing. you're telling me that when you see someone crying, your immediate reaction is to... feel the pain they're experiencing??? what kind of made up concept is this??? you don't only do 'good' things so people see you as a good person? you just. want to help??? this isn't a persona you put on?? you're just like this??? I am being 100% honest when I say that I thought empathy was a made up concept, and people just used it as a term for some made up mystical ability where you can feel others emotions and genuinely want to help, because it just sounds so fake to me

how I feel after staying awake all night thinking of the perfect way to apologise to someone who is upset with me, knowing full well that the only reason I care if they're mad at me is because I want them to see me as a perfect, empathetic angel who cares deeply about others emotions:

people with low/no empathy don't need to "make up" for it by having sympathy. It's completely okay to have neither :)

oh my God, can my phys. ed teacher actually just learn to accept that kids can be tired too?? multiple times, he's just blown off and invalidated mine and other students chronic illness/injuries, because he believes that "kids can't be in pain, and that they won't know true pain until they're an adult with a job." what??? I guess that me not being able to walk, let alone stand without feeling like I'm going to fall over and die isn't pain. or one of my classmates who tore their hamstring, guess that they aren't actually in pain according to my phys. ed teacher's logic. we had to run 100 meters in class today, and I asked him if I could sit out because I'm really sore, and he flat out just said "I'd prefer if you just told me the truth and stopped lying. just tell me that you're stressed about running." yeah, I'm stressed because if I run, my entire body will be in agonising pain for the next few weeks. he's been informed about my chronic illness/pain/fatigue multiple times, since he continues to invalidate it, he knows that I can't support myself when walking. he knows that running would probably end in me being stuck at home. I did end up getting to sit out, but only because of our other phys. ed, who told me I could sit in the office while everyone else was running. (I am SO glad she stepped in /gen) while I was trying to talk to Mr. asshole, he kept telling me that he knew what I was going through better than I did, and that he thinks I'm just exaggerating my symptoms for an excuse to get out of gym. excuse me?? first of all, I am not doing that in any way, shape or form. I hate my condition with all of my heart, and if anything I try to avoid drawing attention to myself in that regard. second, if I was exaggerating my symptoms, (which I am not) it's not your place to decide that that's what I'm doing. the only person who can tell how much pain I'm in is me. you are in no place to tell me what I'm feeling. he was going on about how he's in pain all the time as well, and he still gets out of bed and goes for a run despite being in pain, and that I have no idea what he goes through. yes, I have absolutely no idea what you're going through, just like you have no idea what I'm going through. but you don't see me invalidating your pain just because I don't understand? honestly, how hard is it to let me sit on a bench?

they should invent a me that doesn't feel like they're never going to amount to anything after making one minor mistake
