let's just say that the stress has gotten me sick.
exhaustion, fever, feeling overall malaise. it sucks because it's like being forced to just hide away because i can't take much. everything has caught up to me and it sucks. especially not being able to exercise has pissed me off because exercise makes me so happy and at peace but i don't have the strength.
i have to build myself up again.
again.
sure this week hasn't been all bad but it sure as hell hasn't been all good.
i just want to feel whole again.
just gotta hope for a good week!

something i find really frustrating is the way able-bodied people seem to struggle so much to understand that, when you're disabled, your abilities can fluctuate from day to day.
"but you could do that thing yesterday-" but today i can't. what my body can & can't do isn't a constant, reliable thing. i don't get to pick and choose when i do what. and i PROMISE this is just as frustrating to me as it is to you (if not more).
it also really bothers me that, rather than trying to understand and accept that my abilities change from day to day, the default assumption tends to be laziness. if i could do a task last week but can't do the same this week, it's because my body physically will not allow it, not because i'm being lazy and just don't want to do it.
before i became disabled, i never questioned whether i would be able to shop every week, or whether i could go on a daily walk, or whether i would be able to get out of bed in the morning. since having a disabled body, all i do is question whether my body will be able to handle the most basic tasks.
i plan ahead for things i know need to get done, and i often have to rest for days before things like a trip to the grocery store, or a doctor appointment. it's endlessly frustrating, not being able to know what i'll be able to do on a given day.
i just . really wish that able-bodied people would try to be more understanding and forgiving of disabled people when they're unable to do things. we're not being lazy. we're not doing this on purpose. we're just living our lives with bodies that can't always do what we want, when we want.

the hardest thing about chronic pain to me is how it makes me doubt my own brain.
I have chronic pain. specifically chronic migraines. and the hard thing about that, or neurological pain in general, or really just so fucking many different chronic pain conditions, is there is no proof.
there's no scan a doctor can do to show my pain level or symptoms. you can't look at my head and go "huh, looks fucked up, probably a 8/10 pain." absolutely everything I experience, in order to be understood by a medical professional or even just anyone really, has to be self-recognized and self reported.
and that requires so many steps and levels of trust. like just to fucking start, I have to be aware that the invisible thing I am experiencing is not a thing everyone feels! which again, fucking invisible! Then I have to be aware it's happening at all, which sounds basic but with chronic shit is not. I had to explain to a doctor this week that I do not know if I ever experience "normal" or low-level headaches, because I'm so used to severe migraines that anything below that doesn't register. Sometimes it even takes hours for me to notice I'm having a migraine!
and then I have to be able to assess my own pain, judge how bad it really is, when after nine fucking years my scale is goddamn broken. and the longer I've had a migraine, the further out of whack it goes. I have to recognize and categorize my symptoms, one of which is fucking brain fog, and I have to communicate these very nebulous and abstract concepts to other people.
And then. And then they have to actually believe me. I have to convince them I'm not lying, I'm not looking for attention or drugs or pity or excuses. with zero hard proof, just my words. and then it cycles, because if people doubt my pain, I start to doubt my own experiences. I start to think I'm being a wimp, I'm faking it, I can try harder. so then I downplay it, so then I think it's fine, so I push through it, and this works great until I am fully fucking incapacitated.
and then people are shocked and surprised because I "look healthy."
it has taken fucking years for me to accept that what I am experiencing is real and people who doubt me can go fuck themselves. and it's still very much a work in progress. every single day.
but my pain is real. and so is yours. and people who doubt us can, to reiterate, go fuck themselves.

Advice for the baby Hellenic Polytheists
I’ve got just about a year under my belt now, so I’m very much still a baby myself. But here’s a few things I wish I’d known, or think might be helpful.
Just make khernips with a match. No really. It’s the extinguishing of a flame in the water that makes it lustral. Don’t worry about the rest unless you really want to and have the time.
You don’t have to introduce yourself to any gods. They all want to be worshiped; just get to it.
We’re not as intimidating as you think we are. We just…read a lot. You can read a lot too. You’re welcome here. We’ll even help.
Books are expensive. Theoi.com’s library is free.
Statuary is nice. It is also wicked pricey. Here’s what you need on an altar: A bowl for offerings, a vessel for khernips (can be near the altar rather than on it)
Wine, olive oil, honey, water are pretty universal libations. You’re welcome.
Dispose of offerings however works for you. Just do it with respect, and you’re fine. Oh but don’t consume offerings to cthonic (underground) deities, alright? That’s bad times.
The gods demand Arete. That is your personal best, not the best of the person next to you, or your mother, or somebody you idolize on tumblr. Do your best.
This is a religion of Kharis. When you ask the gods for something, give them something. Then, do not forget the thank you. Offer again if you are granted what you asked for.
Our tumblr community is pretty great, but we also are sometimes wrong. Find sources, and for gods’ sake do not try to replace your studies with Tumblr. Read for yourself, learn for yourself, build your religion such that it best honors the gods and works for you.
If you’re like me, you’re constantly moaning “How do you pronounce THAT?”. I know, friend, I know. Try a couple of these lessons on the ancient Greek alphabet. It is NOT fool proof. It is an incredibly complex language, and pronouncing it ain’t easy. But boy it will help with those particularly tricky epithets.
Oaths are serious business. Gods are easy to fall in love with. Be careful. Be patient. 
Real life pagans are way, way nicer than the ones on the internet. Go find them.
There are exceptions to most rules. Most of those exceptions are Dionysos.
“I don’t know what to say” “I don’t know how to write a hymn” We basically have a hymnal. 
No, ___ will not get jealous if you also worship ____. It’s a fear of us recovering monotheists, but I promise it does not apply to this religion. It’s kind of what POLYtheist means, and plus, most of our gods are related. Show the whole family some love.
“What is [god name] like?” They’re pretty fucking cool. Go find out for yourself, and bring gifts.
The gods know we are mortals, and that mortals make mistakes. Apologize. Bring gifts.

holy shit this week has been filled with me just having no motivation to do the things i need to do, feeling exhausted but trying to push through it.
i've had some major body image issues and disordered thoughts. i'm trying to push through it all but it's hard. i need to relax, find hobbies you know just find my identity again.
today i started to learn the boombayah dance which was fun, it distracted my brain and was a way of stopping me from doomscrolling! i am super proud of myself for trying new things.
i need a hug but i'm getting through it.
that's all i can do is keep plodding along.

this is me truly just trying to do something. this is because i woke up today and everything feels too hard. the idea of doing anything makes me feel just awful. and after having a mealtime disaster (i really should have checked the texture of the canned lychees before deciding to put them in my oats), i honestly just feel drained.
this week has been one where i have been seriously thrown off of balance with people in the house most days and not being able to catch a break. i've been trying my best to get through it and more and more i am realising that my support needs are quite high which makes me feel a bit inferior (that doesn't look like i have spelt it correctly but apparently it is). i feel a little bit unloveable at the moment and i have been experiencing one of those faith struggle things that doesn't particularly make me feel much better. (my brain is a sucker for comparison and with eid having happened it made me truly wonder that if i were muslim i would feel so much better).
on a much lighter note i got my exam results from my last acting exam 90/100 is a great grade which i didn't expect. it was a pick me up i needed but unfortunately celebrating it kinda has been rough due to imposter syndrome coming in a hitting me like a freight train.
so many many ups and downs. medical anxiety is a bitch because if my brain tells me one more time my teeth are going to fall out or my lip piercing is going to reject i am going to scream. which i shouldn't do because my throat already hurts because meltdowns suck.
i am so hoping that this week is a lot easier because there are no visits to be had and i have my routines and stuff but i can't be sure. especially with some of my stress coming from seeing a decline in my father's health (alzheimer's also sucks). so mix that with loneliness and pain and all the other shit that is going on in my life we have a recipe for burnout and just wanting someone to care for me.

Low Energy Devotional Activities and Ways to Connect with the Gods
Let's be honest, religion and consistent practice can be HARD, especially when you're chronically ill, disabled, mentally ill or neurodivergent. This is a list of lower energy practices you can do to connect with your Gods when you're having a rough day.
Pray. You don't have to say the prayer. You don't have to do the full cleansing and offering. Just think about the prayer. It could be as simple as "'Deity Name', thank you. I'm thinking of you and appreciate you."
Dedicate any self care you do to the Gods. You've got to take meds? awesome. it's now a devotional activity.
If you can, light a tea light candle. You can think about who you're dedicating it to as you're lighting it.
Tell them about your day. Have a simple conversation with them (again, this can be in your head if needed).
Offer some water! Water is a great offering if you don’t have the energy to cook, collect or buy something.
Incense is also a great offering because you can light it then forget about it and your house won’t burn down (if you follow regular safety measures). 
Resting. Your deities want you to be okay. Dedicating your rest to your deities is especially great if you feel guilty for allowing yourself time to heal.
Turn on a video of someone reading mythos! 
Put on a deity playlist. There are plenty of pre-made ones on Spotify. 
Veil or bind your hair! Whenever I’m low energy I’ll throw my hair in a ponytail and bind it that way. It doesn’t have to be extravagant. 
Make a Pinterest board for them!
Post on a digital altar! There are plenty of discord servers that have digital altars and temples. You could also make a devotional Tumblr blog. 
Change your phone lock/home screen to something that reminds you of your Deity.
I hope this is helpful to anyone who needs it! Take care of yourself first and foremost. If you don't think you can manage something on this list then thats perfectly fine too! you're not a bad person for not being able to do something spiritual or religious. Ultimately, these things are not a necessity. Don't stress :)

Things that have helped me feel closer to my deities:
Praying before their altars (bonus points if you write your own)
Read books other than their myths (books you think they’d enjoy themselves)
Meditating with them
Learn about magickal subjects related to them
Dedicate a journal for notes and document experiences you have with that deity (including moments where they’ve assisted you and any divination conversations you’ve had with them)
Listen to their messages and follow through with them
Light incense that reminds you of them
Find artwork that feels like that deity and hang, print or save them
Divination Methods (Runes, Tarot, Pendulums, Bone Throwing, etc.)
Watch content on different subjects they’re related to (documentaries on death, relationships, crime, etc.)
Dedicate, care, and/or name pets, plants, plushies, etc to them
Learn not just their pantheon and myths but the culture that influenced them
Wear jewelry dedicated to them (bonus if you have that deity enchant them with protection)
Share meals with them
Thinking of them in passing (like “hey that thing reminds me of *insert deity*”)
Talk casually at their altars and give them an itinerary of your day
Define your relationship with that deity and refer to them accordingly (if its a more formal/in reverence, use a formal title. if it’s warm/personal, use an affectionate name.)
