✦ Zagreus (Hades 2018) x Gender Neutral Reader. ✦ Warnings: slight mentions of gore (mention of beheading), mention of blood, mention of swords/blades. ✦ Word Count: 900. ✦ A standalone one shot, set within my "Blood and Darkness" universe (but not yet somewhere specific in that story's timeline). ✦ Link to part one (parts are not yet connected).

Zagreus is nothing if not devoted.

That sentiment applies to everything he's interested in-- but really 'obsessed with' is a better way of putting it, because he doesn't lightheartedly ponder or enjoy anything. He's too intense for any lighthearted observation and studying because he connects too deeply with the stories of others and the worlds that they live in, his heart too big to live without sorrow. Despite his attachments, he lives to find a place of his own, to feel like he belongs, and his ambition to complete this quest has not been strained.

While living in the Underworld provides him with so much inspiration for adventure and reasons to dash around, defeating friends and foes alike, Zagreus can say that his favorite adventure has been knowing you.

Before you, Zagreus trained with Achilles for as many hours as the great hero allowed-- starting their sessions back when it was revealed to him in a dream that there is a world outside of the house of Hades. Zagreus obsesses about his trainings, the way he moves is careful and planned because one wrong move could send him plunging back into the depths of red blood that always seem to greet him eventually-- warm, but not kind. His movements matter because you can only get beheaded so many times before it gets old, and Zagreus prefers to spill blood with a slash of his blade than to be the one lying cold and hard against the stone floor.

But he's also devoted to you, his most beloved (as he calls you).

He did all of the outdated courting rituals, like inviting you over for a grand feast, gifting you ambrosia won in battle, and demonstrating the best way to remove the sweet beads of fruit from a pomegranate (as any good prince would do for a prospective partner) but Zagreus didn't need all those formal actions to be sure of how he feels.

Zagreus, since the moment he laid eyes on you, was obsessed with you. Like a hunting bird watching its soft, warm-hearted prey from above as it flies steadily above, Zagreus set his sights on you, and needed you more than anything. His desire for you outweighed any other, so strong that he lent Orpheus a few words on longing and tenderness. He didn't need time to love you; because his devotion to you was formed in an instant, rendered unchangeable and strong within the blink of an eye like a blacksmith plunging a sword into dark, cool water.

You are his main devotion, his beloved, his favorite shade, and it is through Zagreus' obsession with you that you learn what it is to be loved by a God.

One night, under the living stars and lying on the plush earth of his mother's garden, he rests his head in your lap as you comb your fingers through Zagreus' dark locks of hair. His laurels are set to the side, simmering with crimson and glittering with gold, and he is at peace in your embrace.

"Zagreus?", you say softly, pulling him out of his trance and drawing his bicolored eyes toward you. His eyes of garnet and emerald shine at you inquisitively as his mouth smiles, pleased at hearing his name from the mouth of his lover, the sweetest song he knows.

"Yes, beloved?", he answers, kind and warm.

"Did you hear that the villagers of your mother's hometown have built a temple in your honor?"

"I did, love," he beams, proud of their efforts and appreciation. "Their offerings were quite impressive, I need to remember to reward them with a bountiful season of hunting for their efforts."

"That's kind of you," you muse, petting his hair still as he leans into the soft press of your hand against him. "They're lucky to have someone who is as generous as you, Zagreus."

"You flatter me, darling. I just.. try to give everyone what they deserve," he says, sighing as he looks up at the stars dancing through the night sky, "and to be someone they can believe in."

"I know it isn't easy, my love. After all, if all Gods are worshipped, who is left for the Gods to believe in? Who is there to guide those whose hands mold mortality?"

"It's a bit late to get philisophical," he jokes, although it is without much humor behind his voice. "But I believe that the answer is that we are left with only what we cherish. For me, you are cherished-- so I have you to believe in, to lean on, and to worship in this infinite strand of life. You love me even when I have no offerings, and not even any blood to spill into your cup, and it is not because of my power. You know better than anyone that Gods only have what they have been given-- we have no lights to tell us our fates, only stars."

"I do love you, Zagreus," you affirm, leaning down to kiss his forehead. So many thoughts swirl within his mind, and your kiss helps to soothe his celestial thoughts of life and love. "And I thank the stars that they have led you to me."

Above your heads, in silver and gold, the stars sparkle brighter in their carefully planned formation, as if they are content with the way the scroll of fate has unfurled perfectly.

Okay, hear me out. Zagreus is the most determined deity. That's a fact. He's literally compared to Sisyphus all the time. Even when things seem to work against him, when people he loves don't support him, when his own father fight him to death: Zagreus don't stop trying.

It don't matter what separates you both. Maybe you're a nymph that lives with Persephone far away from the Underworld. Maybe you're another chthonic entity that have so much to do to prove yourself for Hades. Maybe you're an hero(ine) on Elysium responsible for killing Zagreus again and again.

When you touched (maybe in accident during work, maybe during a fight, maybe you tried to help him while he died on the surface), colors exploded in front of his eyes. Since that, Zagreus knows he won't give up on you. He won't stop trying. It don't matter if he ends up dying just to see you for a few minutes, if Hades himself declare that you both will never be alowed to have a relationship, if you're the one killing him again and again: Zagreus will never stop trying.

Chaos can say that will never work, Gaia can wake up and separe you both, Cronos can get rid of his chains: Zagreus will never let someone else decide his fate for him. He would never challenge the Moires out loud, but he does beg. And the only person he actually fears is Aphrodite. Don't matter what she demands, Zagreus will do everything to be on her good side and make sure that she also likes you.

After all, the stars and the rest of the world can say and do whatever they want, but Zagreus got plenty of time to make you his. And he isn't a man give up on the first few thousand attempts.

Okay... That would be a continuation of this headcanons! ^^

I don't think Zagreus would get jealous so quickly! So I made some scenarios were he could get a lil' jelly. [And I'm seriously wanting to make one Greek Gods x [You] series after so many thoughts about Poseidon, Apollo and Dionysus as boyfriends and being Hera's 'secret' lover - Like, before marrying Zeus or something like that.] If Anyone wants to see that, please tell me :]

So, to refresh your minds about the personalities traits:

Sun [Extroverted, funny and carefree people.] - GOD.

Moon [Introverts, gentle and creative people.] - UNDERWORLD GOD.

Eclipse [Ambiverts, can change their humors a lot.] - HALFBLOOD.

Cloud [Quiet, smart and can be someone gentle] - PUNISHED SOUL

Rain [An confort zone, caring and gentle but just for the ones that they care about.] - FORCED TO LIVE IN THE UNDERWORLD, GOD.

Zagreus Jealous

Does he get jealous quickly?

No, he doesn't.

Zagreus isn't some kind of yandere or anything like that, he knows that you can handle any situation very well - So, he doesn't get jealous of anything.

Everything seems okay to him; You want an poly relationship? Okay, talk to him and he will make this work well. You want to date his dad? No. You want to date Dyonisus? All fine for him.

But, he can get Jealous quickly if people can do things that he can't with you.

What does he get jealous of?

That depends on the personality you chose. If it is Sun or Eclipse, he gets jealous about how the other gods can just... Go and talk to you, hug you, kiss you...

If it is Moon, Cloud or Rain, he is probably going to get jealous if you are approaching or give too many gifts to other beings, especially if he - by himself - doesn't get that many gifts - Or - you giving too much attention to someone other than him or his family.

If you are Rainbow, if you are flirting too much with others, he can feel a little jealous - especially if you start getting touchy with them.

It's very difficult to get him jealous and not mad. [Situations that some people put to 'jealousy act' (SA) would get him mad - what is not the ask.]

How does he act?

When he is jealous... Well... It is a little difficult to say with 100% certainty - because his actions change depending on what you like and if you are in the underworld and everything.

He starts to roll his eyes at the subject [The other person], especially if they are trying to get your attention. He WILL be very very sarcastic with the other person, even mocking their words.

With you [around the other person] he would just play off as being chill and would just give some hints about his jealousy for you to understand that he wants to talk with you alone. [He wouldn't make you just let your friend behind just because he felt jealousy]

With you, alone, he would explain everything that he felt and ask for forgiveness - cause he couldn't control his own feelings. You would need to say some kind stuff to him, in your own way, to make him understand that feeling jealousy is normal... And that he shouldn't feel so down about that.

...Now, you would want to know how he would act with the personality that you chose... Right?

You and Aphrodite combined boons for your true love... Well, things didn't go as right as you thought.

You thought that it was a GREAT and FUNNY idea to surprise your boyfriend. You and Aphrodite just appear two time - in the beginning and to get a combine boon, after that, it seemed like you two just disappeared... Of course, it was part of your fun plan!

You and Aphrodite were chilling around after getting Zeus and Hades permission to go down there and were just waiting for Zagreus to chose between your boon or Aphrodite. With an 0,3 time record, he choosed your boon.

"Thank you, my beloved! I will remember this~ I would Aaaaalways choose you too!"

"What a shame... Could I be the third person into your relationship? Oh wait, I already am." Aphrodite was talking about being the third wheel... But, Zagreus [who was thinking that you two were acting suspicious] understanded... Another meaning.

"Heeey! Don't say it like that!"

He didn't like it. He just avoided the heart (Aphrodite's skill) and killed all the monsters, before just picking Aphrodite boon so he could continue his way, not saying anything.

You could sense there was something wrong with Zagreus, but you couldn’t actually tell exactly what… But you were so happy and excited for Zagreus to get back at Hades’s place so you could surprise him that you didn’t even think about how sus everything sounded.

And after some time, Zagreus died… Well, no sh- But he got back at the ‘checkpoint’, where… Tada! You were there too!

“. . .Oh my, if it isn’t Zagreus’s partner!” With Hypnos' lack of keeping secrets and surprises, he would be upfront with that information. Zagreus quickly turned his head so he could see… You. You … The vision he had - first seeing you - was probably one of the prettiest in his head.

he didn’t wait, just runned to hug you with all the speed he had - using his dash to be close enough to you before just pulling you to his embrace. Aphrodite would laugh at this demonstration of affection.

“Seems like Zagreus and you match~” She would say, happily almost not seeing how dark and dull his eyes would be almost hostily towards her “Oh my- I should apologize for what I did say earlier~ I understand that you misunderstood my words, I was talking about being the ‘Third wheel’ and not the ‘lover’~”

“Oh… I see, it's my fault.” He would say in his worried but sorry tone as he created a little distance between you and him “...Though… Could I talk with you, [Reader]?”

He would guide you to his room, there, he would be way more upfront with his thoughts… “Look, I’m sorry… I… I just couldn’t say those things in front of Hypnos and Aphrodite… But… I got jealous of that whole thing… I just noticed that you could live happily with some god of the Olympus. It would be way easier and you wouldn’t have too much trouble… Especially because of having to go through a lot of stuff just so you can get into the Underworld.”

“Do you think I give a single fuck?” You would say, with your characteristic smile and would pinch Zagreus’s cheek “I love you, Zagreus… And if I need to go to hell, another dimension or whatever to be with you, I will.”

“...You are too… Much… You know?” He would say with a chuckle.

“You were the one that, for the first time seeing me, guided me to your room.”

Hypnos and you started to get very close... Because of that, some souls didn't know about your true romantic relationship and would have their doubts.

Hypnos and you - for some reason - were getting very close, maybe it was because you could see his value, you don’t judge his laziness and tries to help in what you can, even defending him from the verbal attacks from the others gods - Even if it was from the mighty Nyx or Hades.

Because of your protection, an ‘meme’ started towards the souls - “Zagreus, his partner [you] and Zagreus's partner husband [Hypnos].”

No one seemed actually uncomfortable with that joke and - sometimes - Zagreus or Hypnos would kindly laugh it off and change the topic - But, this day, a Soul asked in front of others [loudly] if Hypnos was your boyfriend.

“No.” That was your fast answer.

“Hahahaha… How is that even an question...?" Hypnos would try to laugh it off, because he could feel Zagreus glare towards him - waiting for his answer “No, no. They are with this handsome fellow” Hypnos would point toward Zagreus and the words that the soul told Zagreus what they thought about the situation.

“Well, you should be careful then. They are too close.”

“Excuse me, but I trust both of them. If they were in love, I know that they would tell me… And, I’m not against polyamour.”

The soul would stay quiet after that, Hypnos would sigh of relief and you would just wait patiently for Zagreus to go back to his room - following your boyfriend, you would hug him - bringing him closer to your body as a ‘gift’.

“Even as a God, I’ve never heard something as sweet as that… I’m happy that you trust me… But I could feel a hint of jealousy.”

“I’m sorry, dear. Some feelings are difficult for me to… Understand, I admit that I was a little jealous of how fast you two became friends. Just that… But - I do not think you would ever cheat on me. I know and believe when you say you’re loyal.”

You were in the middle of a training session with Heracles... For the first time, Zagreus appeared in the Olympus in the middle of it... And- Well, a misunderstanding started. [I swear it's not like the ones where the other person just lets it all be the way it is and doesn't try to explain.]

As always, your training with another demigod was marked - This time with the champion, Heracles. Your muscles were hurt, and you could feel a heavy pain around your neck, with that, Heracles promised you a great massage. Then be it… The only bad thing was that you were almost naked in front of your long distance boyfriend with a 2-3 meters muscular soft boy behind you.

“Oh shit.” You would say making it seem more sus than it already is.

“Am I interrupting… Something?” Zagreus would ask, waiting for you to realize that he was on Olympus.

“HOLY COW! YOU ARE IN OLYMPUS, WHAT IN HERA!?” You would run towards Zagreus, hugging him “And Alcides was just giving me a massage, we were training.”

“Oh… I see… I have to admit that I got a little jealous of what I have seen.”

“Ah, He is Zagreus- right? Your prince, [You]? And you shouldn’t get jealous of us, I’m married.” Alcides would ask while making his way towards both of you “As they said, I’m Alcides - Heracles is my ‘nickname’... We could say that.”

“Pleasure meeting you… Your father told me about you, Hera never gives up, hn?”

“Never…” Alcides said with an expressionless face.

“Well, we should catch things up, right Zagreus?” Noticing that Alcides is thinking about his dead family, you would say “How about you come with us? It would be fun.”

“Count me in.”

Being also a soul made some souls think that the underworld would be their dating app. You were ignoring that soul for… Minutes? Hours? You didn’t know. All that you knew was that Zagreus' hand was around your waist.

“Is there any problem?” Zagreus would ask - already tired of all of that fucking flirt.

“...You shouldn’t just ignore, some souls told me you were ‘giving attention to them’, I suggest that you call Cerberus…”

“To be honest? No, but I couldn’t control the hint of jealousy that I felt… It was… Horrible and - as your boyfriend, I know that I should expose those feelings for you to understand it... And help me.”

You finally did it... You made the perfect potion! It allowed you and Zagreus to walk freely in the human world for 24 hours. But, maybe you happened to catch a random man's attention...

You missed how the sun would go through your skin, how you could feel the wind… And Zagreus seemed in love with the feeling too. Finally… The both of you were there, without the other gods to know… But, at least, you could make Zagreus be away from some ‘god connected place’ by your knowledge of them.

Zagreus was swimming with you, he thought that that would be cool - and, It actually is!... But the uncool part is explaining how to swim to that prince. Well, after a long time, you caught someone's attention. In this case - Someone you didn’t want.

A random person walked towards you.

“What a beauty… Wouldn’t you like to let that… Zombie there and come with me for a lil’ fun?” They would say, kneeling in front of you “You know, he doesn’t seem wealthy at all.”

“Pardon?” You would ask, with a confused expression - “What?... You think- You think I’m beautiful?” They would just smile and nod “MY zombie thinks that too!” You pointed to Zagreus “So, yeah, not going to change my zombie for some random.”

“Oh alright, then.” The person just nodded and then got up “Wish the both of you an good day” Now, what the fuck- Is that how being catcalled works nowadays?

“What a weird person-” Before you could continue your words, Zagreus were hugging you from behind “Hey, no fucking in water-”

“...What?- I- I just wanted to hug you and tell you thanks…”

“Ah… Didn’t know, you can continue it.”

You thought it was a good idea to flirt around with anyone... Well, Zagreus didn't think so.

Zagreus and you started a closed relationship, Hades still hates you for just appearing out of nowhere - demanding to marry his son [Like, who the fuck are you?] but when he looked at Zagreus and saw his… Shiny eyes - He knew that you were someone important to him. That’s why he decided to give his blessing to the relationship, but ONLY if you two could be together for 3 months without an big fight.

With that, Persephone suggested some ‘challenges’ to Zagreus and you, being one of them ‘flirting around’, they wanted to see your and Zagreus reaction to someone trying to flirt with both of you.

The soul would go towards Zagreus first while you were asking something for the cooker. The soul would start with a respectful bow to Zagreus and would say “I’m sorry, master Zagreus , but if I don’t have a bed how am I going to serve you?”

He almost choked - You didn’t seem bothered though, just continuing what you were doing while Zagreus tried to think about an answer. “I’m sorry but, I would suggest not flirting with me… I don’t feel comfortable with that.” A simple and honest answer, it would be enough to make the soul step back until just started to do something else. Zagreus would sigh and start looking at you, making sure you weren’t mad about his answer or anything. “All fine, [reader]?”

Your answer would be a nod while finishing your meal “Duude, the food here is HOT as F U C K, not as hot as you though.” With that simple answer you got Zagreus a lil’ flustered, he was going to say something but another soul approached the table where you two were.

The soul just said “Bro, I’m in hell or Heaven? Because all I see it’s a angel.”

“I’m no angel, but I can guide you to heaven.”

“In bed?”

“Not only in bed~”

Zagreus was seriously taking this horrible flirting as seriously? Maybe, after all, he never saw you flirt with more than 3 phrases to someone. He did show to be a little discomfortable though, he would just look at you.

“Well, good talk buuut bye bye~” You would notice that he wanted to talk with you and would give 0 fucks to the soul anymore “What is it, darling?~”

“It’s just… I don’t think I kind of like you doing that kind of stuff with other people, like, it’s just a feeling… Like the flirting was looking very personal… And while I couldn't answer you proply”

“Oh… Sweetie! I’m glad you told me, I hate when people feel discomfortable by it and they just let me do it and AAAFTER that, they even tell others that I was the one who didn’t communicate!” - Okay, Zagreus is asking you about that ex-

You know what would be a cool idea? Reader becoming a vampire to get AND stay away from Zagreus. Since she knows that if she dies she's as good as dead.

Like instead of being caught and punished just like Sisyphus she becomes a vampire or the ancient Greek equivalent of one. Of course Hades is pissed(if he's a platonic yandere) and Persephone heartbroken which makes Hades even more upset.

If Hades isn't a platonic yandere

He didn't give a hoot except the fact when Persephone begins to see reader as a daughter and encourages him to do the same.

He's more so angry about the fact you tried to escape death

If Zagreus is interested in you then he'll taut him about the fact Zag probably won't see her again.

I feel this it'll be his newest ambition to escape the Underworld even after his mother came back. His family, no his life isn't complete without you.

A Demigod of my own.. Ch. 1 my little seashell.

This is a fanfic about Triton from Percy Jackson series and his point of view along with an couple of ocs of mine to make the story interesting. (With a couple of my hcs enjoy!)

The prince Triton, the son of poiseden.. That was his only identity so far.. expect for that dumb Disney movie the little mermaid (he swears that movie portrayed him way too old). Triton had been feeling more insecure than ever, a thought he had heard a couple of fish gossiping about earlier 'Prince Triton takes so much pride in being poiseden's heir he's immortal it's not like he gonna die anytime soon.' and then another fish said 'you know a couple years back I heard poiseden telling that Demigod boy of his that he was his favourite son.' Triton had left not wanting to hear more (he silently destroyed those fish later on due to anger) but the thought had remained with him since had that stupid Jackson boy accepted immortality instead of telling the gods to be better parents his father would have replaced him in a heartbeat for Percy, the thought still silently terrified him though he knew that confronting poiseden and demanding to ask why a puny Demigod was his favourite; he knew that he would only be asked a thousand questions and probably punishment 'How do you know I said that? ' 'He saved olympus twice what have you ever done to become my heir besides being my oldest son?' 'He beat Ares in a fight when he was 12 tell me do you have the guts to fight Ares?' and so on Triton had silently been growing more resentful of Percy and more depressed worrying about how much importance did he really have and that his father probably couldn't care less about him in general, he'd been growing more paranoid as well. However, some help and comfort he had received due to a certain friend. A couple years back he had been answering calls on Poseidon's behalf because poiseden had some 'matters' to attend to (probably chasing a poor Ocean nymph) when a certain call by a minor god only a few years younger than him intrigued him a son of Hades called Zagreus, the younger god had been rather friendly with him and told him that they should meet sometime when he comes to the surface, Triton had agreed on the condition that they would not be up there for more than 7 hours since his mother would question him if he were and those questions would annoy him, Zagreus had told him to meet at a beach near one of the exits out of Hades's realm. They had infact met there and Zagreus said ' Dude, try assuming human form so can roam on land and we can a proper conversation ' ' what's wrong with me being in the water?' Triton had asked. 'Well I don't like sitting on sand for too long and also your face looks like a monster-like green.' 'Thank you for your honesty Mr underworld prince but I don't know how to walk on legs. ' 'come on just try it I'll teach you ' 'fine.' so he had transformed, his skin colour was a perfect tan, his Curly Black hair still tied in a high ponytail, he had some black leggings and blue sweater on and of course he stumbled a couple times but Zagreus had taught him how to walk properly soon Triton could run, for a while it has become a weekly thing Zagreus would ires-message him to meet up, Triton would make his father was too busy to notice that Triton had stepped out of his realm and then he would talk with Zagreus for hours, despite being two princes/heirs of two different realms they had a lot in common their fathers being rather neglectful and distant, them having better relationships with their mother figures,them feeling rather questionable due to their fathers having obvious Demigod favourite ism (Though a difference being that Zagreus actually liked his Demigod brother a lot), there had been a couple of times where they couldn't meet due to the war with gaea and Kronos and during approximately 2 or 3 years before Percy's intial claiming, Triton had met a certain woman a lifeguard who worked part time at wallmart, Sofia malician. A beautiful red headed woman with olive skin colour and kind sky-blue eyes. He had met her when zag had ires-messaged him and he was waiting for him. He had saw her sitting and ended up staring at her, Sofia caught him once he turned his face away, twice he turned his face away again.

It wasn't to long that after queen Persephone came back that Hera would come and ask Hypnos to put Zues so she could do something you never found out since work started to pile up and you could no longer chat to Hypnos. Then there was the trojan war where she asked him to do it again so her side could win. Hypnos was hesitant since the last time he put Zues to sleep it didn't turn out so well. Then she promised him something that broke your fragile heart...

But that's not what hurt the most it was the fact that you could tell that his bride, Pasathea was just as in love with him as you were. On that day after the wedding you snapped you couldn't confront them or anything because who were you to get in the way of a happy healthy relationship.
