JEGULUS ONESHOT TO START OFF THE NEW YEAR (i know it's the 8th shut up)
Both being purebloods, James and Regulus had both learnt to ballroom dance at a young age. Regulus' parents had been far more strict on it, sure, but James still knew the rules and the steps, and they both found it so much fun to do together, and it always felt so romantic and intimate, and neither one of them could help softly smiling as they led each other around the room with graceful spins and slow turns. So, they made a promise to each other, that despite there being no special occasion, they would go and dance together in the room of requirement every Saturday evening.
And this promise held true. At least it did until that dreadful day in 1978, after Regulus had come of age and returned to his family home at Christmas break.
"James, please, you don't-"
"I understand just fine, Black. I thought you weren't like them, I thought you were more like Sirius, but clearly I was wrong."
Black. Regulus' heart shattered into a million pieces, and he tried to hold on to the tears forming in his eyes.
"My parents, James, they- I don't know what to tell you."
Regulus felt James' eyes on him as he sheepishly fumbled with his sleeve to cover his wrist back up, not being able to bear that dreadful thing staring back at him any longer.
"Well maybe you should've thought about that before you took the mark, Regulus. I can't- I don't get why you did it."
Regulus could see tears forming in James' eyes now, too, and the other boy stayed standing as Regulus sat on a nearby sofa and held his head in his hands.
"I don't either, James, just- just please, please understand it wasn't my choice. Please I- I need you." Regulus just managed to choke those last few words up before the tears started to silently fall from his eyes, his face still hidden from James' view.
"I can't, I'm sorry, Reg." And with that, Regulus heard footsteps retreating and the door opening and closing again. James had left. He had messed this up for good.
And so, Regulus stayed in the room of requirement that night, alone. Thinking over what else he could've done to maybe, just maybe, have gotten James to stay with him, the only words he muttered to himself that night being in his native French. "Je veux juste une dernière danse.".
Little did Regulus know, when James got back up to his dorm that night, he immediately retreated to his bed, shutting the curtains and casting a silencing spell. James began sobbing, where none of his friends could hear him, thinking over what he could've done to have helped Regulus, feeling terrible for leaving him in the room of requirement. The only words James said before falling sleep were about Regulus. "I just want one last dance.".

HI HI HI SO abt the robins
Tell me about ur opinions on them please please please
Whose ur favorite?? What iteration?? What do you NOT like abt them?? Please im such a big bat family fan
my favorite is Tim Drake I’ve loved him since I was like 8 years old but I’m currently, actively insane about DCAMU Damian Wayne so I’m gonna talk about him. He’s batshit (heh) feral and will not hesitate to punch the fuck out of you. His patience level is like 🤏 this much and I’m all here for it.
Look at this guy how could you not like him (he’s a bitch but I forgive him)
my favorite comics iteration is beast world solely because he gets turned into a half-cat hybrid and this GREATLY pleases me. I love most comic universes of Damian as well. He loves animals, he’s extremely overconfident to a fault, and he hates basically everybody because he’s the blood son and OBVIOUSLY that means he’s the best.
anyways here’s my two faves standing next to each other. the feral bloodthirsty little guy and the exhausted caffeine addicted nerd who’s also insane (just like damian)
anyways there’s nothing to hate about them I forgive them for everything. yep

I bestow prompt on you *magic hands*
Sonic and Tails having a dance battle and seeing who is the all-time boogie champion
hi i have absolutely no idea how dance works but here *magic hands*
▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁
When the static dissolves into colours, a clear close up of Sonic's left eye is all that is visible until the hedgehog takes a step or two backwards, a grin plastered on his face.
"Is it working?"
He questions, enthusiastically waving a hand in front of the camera. Still standing close enough to the camera that his face is the only thing it manages to capture.
"I made it, of course it's working." Another voice interrupts him from behind the camera and when the device rotates, it focuses on the little fox sitting on the couch of the living room of their small home.
The kit then sets the camera on the stack of books lying on the coffee table so it perfectly captures the scene in front of it. The video continued recording the blue hedgehog as he pokes around the lens of the camera and sticks his tongue out to it. Behind him the TV sets paused to what appears to be a dance scene in the middle of a movie.
Saturday nights have been movie nights for a long while for the two of them now and tonight Tails wanted to see the movie Amy recommended last time she was over. The fox thought it was pretty fun, it was about a young mobian girl achieving her dreams to be a professional dancer and while she wasn't exactly great at the job at the beginning, Tails liked her development until they watched.
Unlike someone else in the house.
"I can do better," Sonic had said.
Quite frankly, Tails was more thoughtful towards the mint candy than his reply so naturally it came out a bit stoic, "If you're talking about whatever that was you did back at Starfall Islands then, respectfully, no. You cannot."
The hedgehog turned to look at him so fast, he feared if his head was still attached to his body. The older paid no mind to it though, more focused on appearing as insulted as one possibly could.
"Excuse me??"
"Excused."
… Which brings them here.
Tails stands up, satisfied with his work with the camera and turns to his brother with a smirk, "The real question is if you're really ready to endure a hit this big to your ego."
"You're not supposed to underestimate your enemies, Tails. It'll be your eventual downfall." Hands on his hips, Sonic bends down a bit to be on eye level with the younger boy.
In retaliation, Tails tries to appear taller by standing on his toes, "We'll see who's eventual downfall it is when I send this to Amy and Knuckles and they both say I moped the floor with your quills."
"Ohoho is that snark I hear, kid?" Now standing to his full height, which in Tails' honest opinion is still not much, Sonic pokes the fox's forehead a good few times, "You talk a lot of shit for someone who's never danced before."
Tails swats his hand away, although by now, he considers biting it instead, "First, false. Amy and I kill it on every sleepover that you're not invited to. Second, mind your language. I'm eight."
"Wait, you guys are having sleepovers I'm not invited to—"
"Okay, time to shut up and go lose our dance battle before my bedtime."
"Foul. Violation. I'm so offended. Who's teaching you how to talk back to me like that?"
The camera continues recording as Sonic is pushed away by Tails, the little fox brings his brother to the centre of the living room just far enough from the camera to be captured in full view.
"All I hear is waa waa waa."
Now out of the camera's view, Tails starts the music his brother selected earlier and then he shoots the hedgehog a smug look, daring him to start.
So he does. He starts precisely with what has been disrespected by the younger boy; his victory dance. Sonic used to think that he raised a functional and totally cool fox kit but no, as he sways to the music, he thinks that he definitely did something wrong. What else would explain his absolute bad taste in dance? As he strikes his final pose with a grin, he wonders if he ever dropped his brother on his head when he was younger.
(Tails, on the other hand, has definitely dropped Sonic on his head during their first flights but due to hedgehog dignity reasons, we won't be talking about that.)
"You're up, li'l bro!"
The kit's namesakes flutter behind him enthusiastically as he takes their 'dance floor' for tonight. He takes a deep breath and then he starts with a few basic steps in sync with the music, soon enough his feet start to move faster and faster and he can't help but to smile while he does so. The camera captures the joyful expression of the fox as he dances to the beat. Sonic, now sitting out of the camera's view, can't help but beam at his brother's fluid moves.
He might need to infiltrate those sleepovers.
(Not only for dance battle reasons, he needs to know why he's not invited. Smells like bullying.)
The music comes to a stop and so does Tails, ending his comeback against his brother with a graceful bow.
The sound of clapping makes the kit stand upright again as he looks towards his brother with a toothy smile.
"You're good for a beginner, I might be impressed." The hedgehog says as he playfully punches the other's shoulder, making him chuckle.
Tails punches Sonic's shoulder right back, "So you agree I'm better than you?"
"Might. The emphasis is on the might," Sonic crosses his arms over his chest, his voice challenging, "Though, I wanna see if you can keep up with me."
"Oh, you're on."
The music starts again and the two get ready for another round of their dance battle. The hedgehog takes the lead, his moves fast and quick becoming more and more smooth and precise with the beat, and as he goes on, his confidence grows. Tails on the other hand, is having a hard time keeping up, his moves seeming a bit too robotic and stiff. But as he keeps going, he starts to loosen up and the moves flow more naturally. Eventually the two are moving in tune with each other, the camera capturing their faces as they dance. Sonic and Tails continue to dance and move together, the emotion and joy in their steps palpable when the older of the two extends a hand out towards the fox.
The music plays and Tails eyes Sonics gloved hand for a bit but then he takes it anyway, only to be pulled towards the hedgehog. The two sway together, no longer matching their steps to the music — both brothers too far gone in their little game to pay it any mind any longer.
Sonic dips Tails and the kit laughs as the hedgehog beams, eyes closed but faces brighter than any light in the room. They move together in perfect harmony and as the music reaches a crescendo, they both spin out of each other's hold and twirl in a full circle, before returning to their previous stance.
Except, they both step forward a bit too energetically and end up with their footing wrong so that their legs get tangled up with each other, making both of them fall to the floor in a mess of uncontrollable laughter.
Sonic's hand swats against the camera sitting on the stack of his books on his way down and the device falls onto the other side, no longer being able to capture the two with its position. Although as it continues recording, the voices of the brothers are pretty clear.
"Get off of me, you're heavy and prickly!"
"Not until you admit defeat!"
"Never!"
It's not long before either of them reach out to turn off the recording, still laughing and chuckling to themselves.
