insane how jack canonically thought he was hallucinating the entire crew and a bunch of strangers showing up in the locker and was only slightly swayed by it once he saw elizabeth it's simultaneously both the funniest and most gut wrenching thing on earth

Arvid Cairn was a kind person.
There was no doubt about that.
He was always so good with the children and never minded with people used him for warmth in the winter as he worked. It wasn’t rare to find younglings or padawans in the woodworking hall dozing or doing course work against and around him. One or two often culling to his tail. And he would always take time to show the younglings how to carve if they wanted to, no matter how busy his schedule was.
He never seemed bothered by people just coming to talk to him, and there were few he didn’t get along with, even though there weren’t as who knew much about him outside of the artisan halls.
He never was bothered when Cal would fall asleep on him and he had to return the boy to his master, Arvid’s own closest friend, Jaro Tapal.
And he always looked out for the Jedi who worked under him as the Head of the Woodworking Artisan Department.
And even though he didn’t quite understand the clones all the time, he always did his best to see and talk eye to eye with them. Extending a familial kindness to Thorn after Turu admitted his budding relationship with the clone and how could he not?
Turu was his second, his former student.
He would welcome anyone that he wanted to form a relationship with.
He would agree to let clones into the workshops because the shore leave clones got restless and some were curious. He was rather pleased to say that a few of the men picked up hand carving as a form of pastime.
And outside of the Order and the War, how he acted with Dex’s children. He had no trouble slotting into the position of “second dad” for Onyx, and even though D and Nim were older, he still was considered to be like a father figure.
There was no doubt that Dex loved him, and he, Dex. There were those in the Order who disagreed, but in the end, many saw no harm in it. Where other Jedi would become attached, Arvid was responsible and talked through it with the other Masters. There was little doubt that he was a good person, and a kind person.
Was. Because even kindness ends.
It is not to say that he was not kind in the end. He remained kind and good until the end.
But it is because his end was cut short, and that is the reason it ended.
By going to Coco town to visit Dex and Onyx when Order 66 hit, he willingly took several shots and a stab to the chest in order to minimize the damage that would’ve been caused to the surrounding citizens if he dodged. Because he was kind, and cared, and he was a Jedi in the end.
Save many at the sacrifice of a few, save citizens and innocents as the sacrifice of his own life.
Still, he proved to be resilient and incapacitated the clones before staggering the rest of the way to the Diner. There was confusion, but nothing he could do while heavily injured.
He was kind until death.
Arvid Cairn dies, bleeding out and collapsed against his daughter. His daughter who calls for her father, who feels the life drain out of him. Even as he tried his hardest to stay awake, to grasp at life, mumbling about how he loved her and her father and brother and sibling and she had to stay safe in the coming days.
He really was a good Jedi. He really did try his absolute best.
And he loved until death.
