QSMP artists who draw egg designs that aren't quite the fandom norm, I love you.
QSMP artists who draw the eggs as African, or Afro-Latina, or Arab/Middle Eastern, I love you. QSMP artists who draw Chayanne with 4c hair wound back in braids and dark skin, I love you. QSMP artists who draw Pomme with a dark complexion and a hijab, I love you. QSMP artists who draw Empanada as East/Southeast Asian, or wasian, or a mix between Asian and Latina, I love you. QSMP artists who draw Tilín with white hair, or darker skin, or features that match up with Luzu's a bit more, I love you. QSMP artists who draw the eggs with varying body types and clothing styles and poses, I love you.
I know that your designs might be uncommon, and they might not fit the quote unquote 'fandom norm', but they're so cool to see. Some of my favorite fanart has been with QSMP eggs that don't look like the typically design-and while the typical design is still absolutely lovely, don't feel like you need to conform to it. The eggs have no canon design. They have widely spread fanon ones, but those are only common because we, the fans, made them common. Draw what you'd like, because it's incredible to watch from the sidelines as casual competitive fanart reblogger.

I somehow only just learned that tamsyn muir fancast Taika Waititi as John and I cannot tell you how much more sense that makes than the fandom collectively deciding that for some reason. It is still very alarming to just be scrolling down my dash and then suddenly there's Taika Waititi, covered in blood, surrounded by lesbians. But at least it makes sense now

HELLO YES I´D LOVE TO KNOW ABT JAY´S EYE??? i´m guessing skybound related?? (i am SOOO curious abt your plans for skybound btw aaaaaa!!!!)
(adgsfgsdfass i actually hadn´t noticed it first, my dumbass went and looked at the pretty lights of the ferris wheel and brain shut down lmaoo, gotta step up my game >:0)
also damn!! those are some GOOD colors, the atmosphere is amazing!!!! been to the beach when the weather is like that, scary stuff!!!
Operation Rainbow Lights Distraction is successful *-*)9
Kidding, but it's good to know that his eye is both subtle yet striking! S'what I was going for!
Anywaaaay, explanation time! Grab popcorn and really think about if you're ready to discuss fantasy eye trauma before jumping in <3
So we all know Jay gets an eyepatch in Skybound, but in actuality Clancee just gives it to him for aesthetic reasons, even though Future!Jay was seen to have one back in S5. And, of course, the fandom has run rampant with all sorts of deliciously angsty ideas (blinding him, making it a different color, gouging his eye out, etc), but I...can't do that lmao
-Blinding his eye completely would cause too much of a butterfly effect for a lot of the things he does in later seasons, and I am already juggling enough subplots lmao. Besides, this is one of the common go-tos for him and I wanna take a different approach.
-I can't change the color of his eye without going against my own established lore (I did consider just making it a light blue but a) that's also a common thing and b) would wind up looking too close to Zane SO—)
-I don't have the stomach to gouge his eye out completely. I can tear Zane limb from limb, carve into Kai's face like a Christmas ham, and have Lloyd nearly lose a hand but I can't bring myself to do that aaaaaaaAAAAA–
BUT I wanted to do something interesting with his eye, and to do something at least a little bit different from what I've personally seen.
Soooo then instead of some kind of external injury (that is, a physical trauma caused by someone/something else), I started looking into the effects that Lightning can have on the eye (so for my purposes, something Jay would inflict on himself). Turns out there's actually possible "lightning injuries" that can occur on the eye (rare though they are), ranging from star-shaped cataracts, electrical burns, iris collapsing (kinda cool, but also ew and horrifying), and ofc effects on vision itself without just straight up blindness.
There's also that I haven't seen very many changes with his sclera (white eye part) either. From scleritis to simple eye strain, the eyes can become bloodshot...but, what if it was permanent, and what if it was from electricity?
ANYWAY I put all this info into a blender and made the following smoothie out of it:
So during Skybound, Jay gets chained up in Vengestone on Nadakhan's ship and mercilessly tortured, yadda ya, but instead of one of the pirates inflicting harm onto Jay, he still tries to force the use of his powers even through the Vengestone, which causes an internal surge within him (as his powers "run in circuits", and applying Vengestone essentially makes his powers an "open circuit", meaning they have no current to follow/no outlet to head towards, so all that power/energy just gets channelled back inward and goes nowhere)
...meaning that the force of the attempt "blows" Jay's eye out from the strain (not literally, but think of it like he's having a contained Outburst, with all that power trying to channel out through the eyes as it would naturally but it can't). The resulting flash/pain turns his eye glassy, makes his eye bloodshot (but instead of "blood" its with electricity, hence the blue), and affects the shape of his pupil (making it diamond star-shaped, though you can't really tell in the tarot card unless you squint).
Resulting complications of this are that his one eye becomes extremely sensitive to certain amounts of light, his eye tears up randomly and get easily irritated, it causes chronic pain on that one side of his head, there's a on-and-off haze around his gaze, and he does start to gradually get worsening vision as he gets older (but not until he passes on his powers to whomever).
He wears the eyepatch when the environment is particularly bright (or he's meeting someone new and doesn't wanna freak 'em out), but without both his eyes his precision and evasive ability gets hindered (which is inconvenient when you're lightning. Also inconvenient when you're trying to teleport and lack depth perception). So, sometimes it's a gamble of if he wants to miss his target, or to avoid excruciating, crippling pain.
But other than that he's fine <3

im tired
the stuff happening in moderneo is indicative of a trend i've been seeing in neoclone art contribution, which is that artists who come in to work on pet colors often clash because they're coming from two majorly different viewpoints:
its for fun so don't take it too seriously and just be creative- if the site runner likes it then its good to go
its for a website that's seeking to recreate the neopets experience, so we should strive for the art we make to match the existing art in style and quality
neither of these are incorrect approaches for a volunteer collaborative project, and i think its up to the people in charge of each respective neoclone to clearly establish which of these ways they want their art team to approach the pet colors, in order to prevent conflict
i'm definitely in the latter camp, and have also been called a bully on a couple different occasions for offering gentle critique. seeing very level headed and reasonable points be reacted to as though they're evil bullying makes me want to spontaneously combust. sometimes, on a collaborative project, you'll end up feeling bad when you receive critique or pushback on an idea you had. and that feeling sucks!!! but that doesn't mean that the people who gave you the critique were bullies. seeing professional artists get treated like dangerous cruel people for approaching a project like professionals makes me feel insane.
like okay, if its not a professional project and the more 'anything goes' atmosphere is whats wanted, then fine!! but you have to make that clear- and even IF that's the goal, i think its unreasonable and immature of any participating artist to demand zero critical feedback on the designs that they're submitting to the website for everyone to be able to adopt. also, if the project isn't going to be approached like its professional work, you can't expect consistent professional quality artwork, because you cannot get that from an environment that doesn't allow for critique or style direction

This is a genuine innocent ask
Since ofmd is officially over, where does all the money donated go? This is not just a question for the fandom bit in general when ur raising money for a renewal but it fails.
so i mean, in general when a renewal campaign "fails" we dont usually get the showrunner saying outright "yeah the show isnt getting picked up, im sorry guys." like im pretty sure that most of the time, money that's raised for a campaign like this just gets collected and spent without there ever being an official announcement from the showrunners that fans should stop campaigning.
as far as the money that was raised for the first billboard back in january, all the money that was collected is long gone now bc it was spent on the billboard, the truck, the plane flyover, and the charity donations. and like, everyone who donated to that campaign knew that's where the money was going, and they knew there was a chance that the renewal campaign wouldn't work. so even tho the money they raised is gone, the ppl who donated technically got what they paid for.
when it comes to the second billboard, i have no idea what the plan is there. as far as im aware that fundraising effort is (was??) still ongoing, so djenks saying it's over kinda throws a wrench in that process. im not actually associated w the ppl collecting money for the second billboard, nor have i personally contributed to that campaign (or to the first campaign either, ftr), so i have no input or insight as to what's gonna happen w that money going forward. if u want more concrete info abt what's going on with that money you'd wanna ask @saveofmdcrewmates
from what i can tell tho, there are a few options as to what they could do with the money: they could ignore david's message and run the billboard as planned, they could forget the billboard and donate the money to charity, or they could run the billboard but change the messaging to something else. they might even be able to give some of the money back to the people who contributed?? that might be hard tho, idk what platform they were using to collect the money and i have no idea if they're even able to like, refund people. idk if the people who donated would even want their money back, or if they would rather the money still be used for the billboard, or be repurposed for something else. like i said, i didnt donate and i have nothing to do with the ppl raising the money so it rlly doesn't matter to me at all what happens.

…con lentitud poderosa (risk of rain 2) got me hard
shuffling chris's music was a very good idea, thank you for that! xD
y e s that track is a Real Impact in the feels. Glad you're joining the Chris Chris fanclub)
Cool thing is - this is the track that plays on the final (pre-boss) level of the game! To get to it, you have to play like, at least a 40 minute run (maybe faster, I'm just bad at the game). You get to this point through pain and sweat, fighting through hordes and hordes of enemies, all while listening to bangers like Koppen and Hydrophobia. Of course there are more chill (music-wise) levels where you get to listen to tracks like Rain That Was Formerly Known As Purple, but anyway, you get to that final stage with a bunch of adrenaline inside.
And then con lentitud poderosa starts and you just...get awestruck by it.
BTW I think I never mentioned it - RORs have a gameplay mechanic where the difficulty will steadily increase the more you play. In a roguelike, where you goal is to explore as much as you can and collect all the junk to empower yourself, this can cause you problems if you spend too much time.looting, as the monsters will outscale you. The gameplay is an arms race between the player knowing when to cut their time and go into the next stage and the monster scaling.
Soundtracks for games are extremely specific music genre as they are. However, Chris managed not only to write 7-minute long bangers, but also this exact time limit - around 7 minutes, is the perfect spot for the time spent on stage that the player should aim for. The rising tension in the tracks easily lets you keep track of your time, even without looking at the clock. It's brilliant.
Also have a free Aviators reccomend about RoR, their track is an amazing addition and it kind of sold the game to me (..same as their CONTROL song...I will post something about it for sure after watching Alan Wake 2 story)
