☆ a/n. firstly i am so sorry this took 4 months 💀 writers block is the bane of my existence. i do hope this manages to bring you some comfort though :( please do take care of yourself and get well soon! (even though you are most likely not sick anymore 😭) also how ironic is it that i'm currently sick... :')
Tumblr media
YEONJUN | 연준
by your side 100% of the time you cannot get rid of him.
he's over your bed when you wake up in the morning, waiting outside the bathroom door for you, laying right next to while you're sleeping. everywhere you are, so is yeonjun
will bend over backwards to get you anything you need
water? medicine? soup? more blankets? less blankets? he's on it before you can even ask
cooks for you !!! tries to make your food as interesting as possible so you won't get bored, without adding things that will make you feel worse or aren't good for you
you're bedridden. don't even try to fight him
he won't let you lift a finger, he wants you to get as much rest as possible so you can get better as quickly as possible
infact don't even speak, he'll learn morse code so you can just beep him whenever you need
if his schedule allows he'll stay home with you and be by your side every second of the day, if not he's texting you every free moment he has to make sure you're okay
would definitely call in sick if you were feeling particularly tired and need his care that day
has multiple reminders to make sure you're taking your medicine on time, will scold you if you're even a second late
he'll never tell you but he secretly enjoys you being sick . . .
he love love loves to take care of you, especially when you call on him to do things for you it makes him all giddy knowing you need him (he's not a creep i swear)
he's ontop of you so much he probably catches whatever you have
atleast you're sick together
SOOBIN | 수빈
hates to see you sick
1. because it's gross 2. because he hates seeing you in pain but mainly because it's gross
you're not staying in his bed i'm sorry he's gonna come over to your house to take care of you during the day and go home to his snot free blankets at night
gets your medicine mixed up all the time and complains it's the doctor's fault for prescribing ones that look so similar
low-key takes advantage of this situation so he can skip work and spend some quality time with you LMAOOO
"sorry guys yn's still dying i can't come to work today"
at first it's fun because you just have your average head cold so he doesn't worry too much
but then it starts getting worse and he comes home to you falling over yourself in the kitchen because of your dizzy spells and nearly has a stroke
panik
he starts stressing like a mad man after that
probably gets himself sick just with how stressed out he is it's a problem
definitely calls his mom for help he doesn't know what to do
updates her on every little thing you do
"mom they just took a really deep breath does that mean something"
buys the entire pharmacy
wants to kick himself for not taking it seriously when you first got sick he feels so guilty 😭
although you did enjoy his company and the endless marvel marathons so all is well
will not leave you alone. you have to shit with the door open.
will do everything for you even if you're perfectly capable of doing it yourself
from brushing your hair to fluffing your pillows he's gonna do it all
he'll even clean for you, that's his ultimate declaration of love
in the end he didn't really do much to nurse you back to health but A for effort
BEOMGYU | 범규
i know practically everyone in moaville would say he'd tease the shit out of you but in my head he'd be the most worried for you
googles every single one of your symptoms and then cries himself to sleep because myonlineclinic.com told him you have cholera and 6 days to live
the only reason he'd tease you is to mask his worry
he'd watch you go through 60 boxes of tissues and be like "omg my snotty baby" but on the inside he's freaking out 😭
your pain is his pain, the way you feel affects him and his mood drastically
he's irritable when you are, he's tired when you are, your appetites probably sync too
puts a curse on whoever spread their nasty germs to you with ginger roots and vinegar
i think he'd also be the most sympathetic since he gets sick a lot more often than the others
so gentle and understanding compared to his usual self it's a little scary 😭
surprisingly good at negotiation like you're being stubborn because you don't want to take your medicine and he's like "if you drink the cough syrup i'll let you listen to the demos for our next comeback" and before you know it you've sold your childhood home to him for 3/4 of the initial price
will whip out his guitar and sing for you in a heartbeat if you ask him too
obviously tries to crack jokes and make you smile so you don't feel too miserable, he feels so accomplished even if you just scoff at him 🙁
gets back to his usual annoying self once you're better though
TAEHYUN | 태현
ironically, he doesn't know what to do
he rarely gets sick and when he does it passes in a day or two, so when you've been coughing like you have bronchitis for the past week he feels so lost
his first instinct is to take you to the doctor to figure out what's wrong but gets into a fight with doctor for charging him 19382928 won just to press his hand to your forehead and tell him you have a head cold (terry is against this capitalist society)
also buys the entire pharmacy
changes your entire lifestyle to the maximum efficiency so you get better as quickly as possible and makes sure you stick to it
strict like a prison warden, sometimes you wonder if he actually loves you
which he obviously does, but it's hard to believe so when he avoids any unnecessary contact with you as if you have the plague
takes you outside every once in a while to get some fresh air, he feels stuffy just watching you sit around
it also keeps you active 💪
he's always pestering you to wash your hands
will not let you touch him otherwise
makes sure he keeps your space clean, always has tissues and anything else you might need within your reach
at your aid 24/7
you take up a colossal space in his heart he's so soft for you
flying to your side before you even say anything
you don't even have to tbh he can read your mind
"how'd you know i wanted water?" "you looked thirsty"
if he notices you're feeling extra miserable he'll sing for you to cheer you up
swallows his pride because he's down bad and pulls out his best southern accent when you ask him to sing country music
he will be teased for the next millenia but it was worth it for you
he's like an overbearing mother but you get better the fastest when he's taking care of you
HUENINGKAI | 휴닝카이
another mama's boy
probably calls his sisters too
hiyyih would tell him to soak your pills in vegetable oil as a joke but he'll actually do it because he's just that hopeless
he's unable to think straight he just wants to do everything in his power to make you feel better 😭
although he gets the hang of it pretty quickly, he's a fast learner and genuinely enjoys taking care of you
always praising you !!
"wow yn!! i can't believe you ate all your soup!!! you're so cool!!!"
tries to distract you by showing you his entire collection of pokemon cards
probably lies and tells you they're all super rare and he's the only one in the world who has them
does his best not to cause you any stress, he just wants you to focus on resting
the things this man does because he loves you istg
he cleans the entire dorm because it's a breeding ground for bacteria and he doesn't want anything making you more sick
the guys come home to the house spotless they're just like 🤯🤯🤯🤯
taehyun asks you to get sick more often if it means he doesn't have to fight his way through the ironing board and bike to get to the sink
he even lets you play on his DS he's down bad
side rant: i feel like kai is secretly a neat freak, he abhors the sight of filth but is just too lazy to do anything about it so he forces himself to deal with it 💀
anyway he's such a sweetheart :( does his best to keep the mood up even if you're feeling miserable because your nose is so filled with so much snot that you can't breathe
his positive energy definitely rubs off on you!!!
he actually does a good job taking care of you, he's a bit stressed at first but you're back to good health in no time !!!

TxT Reaction - How He Wakes You Up
Idk where this idea came from, it just popped into my head lmao
All gifs are from Pinterest
WARNING: Fluff
Soobin
Tumblr media
Honestly, he doesn't want to wake you up in the first place, he wants you to sleep in peace, but he knows you have to get up for work, so he has no choice but to wake you.
"Jagi.. wake up, you need to get ready for work," Soobin said, his hand running through your hair.
You groaned at the word 'work'. You shuffled closer to Soobin, half of your face covered by the heavy blanket you were under. You wrapped your arms around his middle, your head in his chest, feeling him laugh, his fingers fluffing your hair.
"C'mon, I'll make you breakfast before you go, kay?" He smiled.
Yeonjun
Tumblr media
Definitely the type to watch you sleep peacfully when he wakes up first. Probably spends 15 minutes admiring you before waking you up, you just look so beautiful when you sleep.
"Hey, you need to wake up," Yeonjun said, shaking you a little.
You roll over away from him and hide yourself under the covers, hoping that he couldn't see you. That thought was quickly wiped away when he shimmied himself under the blankets with you and dug his fingers into your sides, tickling you as a wake up call.
You screamed at the sensation, "Ahh, you dare wake the beast during it's beauty sleep?!"
"Yes, to remind the beast that it has places to be today!" He laughed, playing along to your game.
"But seriously, we have places to be today, so go get ready and I'll make breakfast," he says before giving you a quick peck on the lips and tossing the blanket aside to escape to the kitchen.
Beomgyu
Tumblr media
Oh man, better watch out with this one, you definitely won't be asleep for long if he wakes up first, cause he is a FIEND for kisses first thing in the morning. He's gonna smother you in kisses to wake you up (not that you're complaining).
First you felt the warmth on your forehead, next pressed on your left then right cheek, and finally on your lips. You felt a laugh bubble in your chest as you started to wake up, knowing damn well that the warmth on your face was Beomgyu's lips.
"You just couldn't wait until I was awake, could you?" You rasped out, giggles finding their way past your lips.
"Nope, your lips are like my morning coffee, gives me energy to start the day," Beomgyu explained.
"Yeah, okay, how about I go brush my teeth and you make an ACTUAL coffee, I'm sure you'd much prefer my kisses to be minty fresh than 'I literally just woke up' kisses," you laughed.
Taehyun
Tumblr media
Don't expect him to wake you up in the morning, especially on the days you have off. He's a sweet boy who just wants his partner to have a good sleep once in awhile. So, unless you have an alarm clock set, don't expect him to wake you up.
He is so considerate when you're sleeping too, like, if he's on Instagram or Youtube he puts on his headphones so the noise won't bother you and wake you up. When you do wake up, though, he immediately puts away his phone and puts all of his attention on you.
You yawned as you stretched out on the bed, opening your eyes to see the handsome face that was your smiling boyfriend.
"Good morning, sunshine, how did you sleep, I didn't wake you, did I?" Taehyun asks.
"No you didn't wake me, and I slept wonderfully," you smiled, feeling Taehyun's fingers thread through your hair, "but if you keep massaging my scalp like this, I'm probably gonna fall asleep again."
Tae laughed a bit at your statement before giving you a quick 'good morning' kiss on the lips.
Huening Kai
Tumblr media
He absolutely loves to, not necissarilly spoil you, but he loves to treat you to nice things when he can. So you can bet that when he wakes up before you, he's gonna try and make you breakfast in bed. Maybe not the most extravagent breakfast, but a good breakfast.
Sometimes he doesn't feel like making you breakfast, though, so he just runs to the nearest café right quick, grabs your favourite, and comes right back.
"Hun, wake up, I bought you breakfast!" Kai says, a tray of food in his hands.
You crack your eyes open at the word food, a smile forming on your face, "Mmh, what did I do to deserve you?" You asked as you pulled yourself up into a sitting position.
"Be yourself," he replied, a wide grin on his face.
You rolled your eyes, "You are an absolute cheeseball.. but I love you for it."

⋆。˚⋆꒰ঌMY DRESS-UP, DREAMER ໒꒱⋆ ˚。⋆ 14 - For You<3
--౨ৎ✩°。⋆ Soobin, a quiet doll painter finds it too good to be true when a charismatic girl asks Soobin to help fulfill her dream of being a cosplayer. Along the way, they’ve realized they have much more in common than they thought and maybe something more.
Masterlist / prev / next
!!!written parts!!!
Tumblr media
“Holy shit….”
Your eyes danced over the beautifully crafted dark Lolita-styled dress.
The black lace was elegant and soft, and the skirt was perfectly fluffed. The apron portion gave the sensual black dress a sense of purity and desire.
Your heart skipped a beat as if the dress had jumped straight out from the game. It was everything you could ever want…
“It was extremely close but I made it in time,” Soobin spoke with a relived tone “Now you can go to your event”
You peeked over him feelings your heart fall out of your ass “S-Soobin,”
He returned your gaze curiously “Please tell me you didn’t actually think I’d go in cosplay to today’s event…”
“Y-You’re not?…”
You look at Soobin’s exhausted expression, his bags were deeper than his cloudy voice, his shoulders sloughed knocking him down 3 inches in height and his fingers were covered in bandages.
“I.. really had no clue how it took to make clothes,” you said holding your hand to your mouth distraught “These conventions and events are more common now… I was gonna wait until you were completely finished to wear the cosplay”
Soobin’s legs gave out from under him as your words hit his ears making his head get lightheaded again. Now on his rear end, you joined him on the ground.
“You totally got the wrong idea because I wasn’t clear enough!…” the guilt began to rise as Soobin brought his long legs to his chest. “I-I just wanted you to come with me to this event, you know so we can see all the cosplayers together!”
Althought he spent all night making this dress he could help but to feel relieved. Hiding his head in his knees and sighed not in distress but in contempt“Oh thank goodness” Soobin spoke tiredly
You blinked at him utterly confused
“I was so anxious about not finishing in time I rushed some parts, now that there’s more time I can perfect it” Soobin leaned his head onto the wall behind him feeling the fear of disappointing you disappear
He was so enervated, but a soft smile rose upon his face. Your eyes darted between the stunning dress then back at the drained bunny-like man.
He did this all for you, even though Soobin was beyond busy with working, studying, and visiting his injured grandfather he still made time for you.
You focused on Soobin the best you could for your vision was becoming blurry from the tears forming in your eyes. The idea of him overexerting himself for you made you openly sob.
Soobin ears perked up at your little whines, he looked over at you seeing tears run down your soft cheeks. “Y/n!”
“I’m so sorry Soobin,”
You look down feeling an intense amount of shame. “You were busy dealing with your own problems and I pushed my stupid dreams on you”
You were wearing yourself thin just to help me when you were already dealing with so much
I really had no idea, I should’ve been more helpful”
You felt your warm tears fall onto your hand “Soobin I really am sorry, please forgive me!”
He watched as you continued to cry, now feeling bad since both you and Yeonjun offered to help yet he didn’t see the point in taking in. Now sitting in front of you exhausted and in pain, he regretted not telling you.
“I’m also sorry…”
You peeked up at him confused while you face was stained with salty tears. “I should’ve discussed this with you”
Soobin looked over at you as you tried to calm yourself down, almost feeling bad for thinking you looked so pretty with tears running down your delicate face.
“I’m so sorry,” you continued to cry “I’m such a terrible friend”
He shook his head and clutched his knees as your small whines made his heart jump
“No you’re not,… why don’t you try it on?” Soobin suggested gaining your attention “put it on so I can see if there’s any parts that I need to take in”
“We can do your makeup and put the wig on!” He said trying to make you feel better but you shook your head “But Soobin you’re exhausted”
“You want to become Shizuku right?” Soobin question graced your ears, you nodded rubbing the tears out of your eyes
“Then you should put it on,
I’m happy that it’s done, because as long as you’re happy with it; that’s all that matters to me
Are you happy with it?”
Your eyes sparked at him “Of course I’m happy”
You leaned forward embracing the larger man in your arms “I’m so happy… thank you soobin. Thank you so much” Soobin’s heart rate picked up as you began to softly cry against him
“I did it for you” his hand softly fell upon the small of your back in hopes of comforting you. Burying your head in the crook of his neck your small voice spoke “And I’ll wear the hell out of it, really soobin thank you”
Soobin smiled and patted your back unaware of what to do.
~~~~
You sat in front of him blowing your nose while Soobin gently brushed your hair back. He chuckled asking if you were okay you responded with “I’m fine now, thank you”
“You know I haven’t seen many girls that still look good crying” Soobin immediately turned red realizing what he just said. “Uh! I’m sorry I was-“
“I’ll take that as a compliment” you snickered
As time passed Soobin broke down the makeup for your cosplay. What colors to use and where to place them to achieve the best resemblance to the character.
“So ‘sick girl’ makeup?” You said trying to contribute to the conversation earning a nod from Soobin “Sort of, and we can use false eyelashes and angle them slightly downwards on the outer corner of your eye to give a ‘droopy eye’ effect” he added
You scratched the back of your neck embarrassed “Well you see i don’t have any falsies, I never was able to get the hang of them”
“Don’t worry I have some” Soobin suggested a little too fast for your brain to comprehend. He stood up and retrieved a tiny stack of fake eyelashes.
Your cheeks heated up as he showed you the different styles he had. “We should use a winged lash” he said to you but there was only one thing going through your mind… well two
“Are these your girlfriend’s?” and how would soobin look with lashes on
Soobin’s cheeks immediately heated up as he rushed to shut down the idea “No! Some traditional dolls have eyelashes nowadays! I just wanted to try them out!”
You nodded feeling Soobin pass you his phone, it was a picture of a beautiful traditional doll with small wispy lashes. “Oh, how cute~”
Soobin hummed in agreement “I can’t tell myself, but apparently people like my grandpa can tell which creator painted their faces” You looked at the picture longer “That’s so cool!”
He also watched the picture feeling himself nearly erupt with passion “I hope….
I’ll be able to make one of kind dolls like that someday too…” your eyes drifted over to Soobin as he softly smiled at the image
“You will”
Soobin looked over at you feeling flustered by those two little words. This man in your eyes could do great things and you had no doubt in your mind that Soobin could do anything he’d want to and succeed.
“If anyone can do it, it’s you Binnie”
His heart fluttered at the new nickname while a gentle smile spread across his face revealing his dimples “Thank you very much”
A new feeling erupted in your chest staring at the man in front of you. Has his smile always made your heart dance to the sound of his heartbeat?
You impulsively poked his dimple with your finger completely throwing him off “W-what was that for?!”
“Your smile… i like it”
His eyes froze on yours. “M-My smile”
You just watched him as he tried to ground himself but all it led to was more stuttering, now resting your chin on your hand you waited for Soobin to finish making a fool of himself.
“I…. We… Eyebrows! How are we gonna do your eyebrows?” Soobin spoke trying to change the subject completely and it worked as you tend to get distracted pretty easily “Right!”
“Shizuku has really thin eyebrows so what should we do-“
Soobin’s jaw dropped as you held a razor but your forehead no longer held any eyebrows
I got love!!
Parings:YeonjunxBlack!Femreader
Summary:Frat boy Yeonjun (with a bad rep)just wants you
Monsta x inspired the title😗✌🏼
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You sigh as a bag is placed in your line of view. You look up seeing Choi Yeonjun. He gives you a smile and waves making you close the book you were reading
“What is it choi?” You ask
“Yeonjun…Yeon.Jun! We’ve been over this” he says making you shrug
“Anyway…wat are you reading?” He asks
You just push the book over to him. He reads the title before nodding at you
“I like this book. Ya know I’ve read it like a million times” he says
“Oh really?” Yoh ask pretending to be amused
“Yeah like the plot was crazy” he says nodding
“And what exactly made it crazy?” You ask
“Uh when the Uh uncle turned out to be the k-killer” he says
“Mm. That’s funny I haven’t read anything about that. Guess I must have skipped that part” you say with a sarcastic smile
“Y-yeah! You tell me how that goes” he says making you roll your eyes
“What do you want choi” you say now a little more annoyed
“You know what I want Yn. When are you going to let me take you on a date?” He asks
“In a 100 years” you say getting up and collecting your things
“But we’ll be long gone!” He says
“Exactly!” You say walking away from the table but with yeonjun hot on your tale
He quickly jumped in front of you stoping you from walking any further
“What Yeonjun?” Yoh ask now beyond irritated
“Come on Yn! Why won’t you give me a chance?” He asks with curious eyes
“Give you a chance so you can get in my pants and drop me like you do the rest of the chicks you get bored with?” You ask
“W-what? Why would I do that?” He ask
“Oh please Yeonjun, don’t play dumb with me. I might have just transferred here but I know all about your little flings. I won’t be one of them” you say before pushing past him
“Wait Yn!” He shouts out but you kept going with your walk
Tumblr media
“Oh shit yeonjun looking over here!” Your friend, Layla says
You turn your head seeing Yeonjun staring dead at you. When you make eye contact he smiles at you. You scoff and roll your eyes
“He is so gorgeous” sunhee says
You could never take anything away from yeonjuns good lucks but what you could take away is all the thirsty Girls he has around him
“He may be gorgeous but what about his friend Beomgyu I mean have you seen that boy?” Bianca says fanning herself
“Let’s just take a gander and say all the frat boys are fine” Layla says making everyone agree
“Who do you think is attractive Yn?” Sunhee says
“I don’t care for them honestly” you say shrugging
“Girl what do you mean-oh shit! Yeonjun is coming over here” she says fluffing out her silk press. You just put your nose back into your book
“Hey ladies how are you?”
“We’re good thanks for asking” sunhee says smiling
“That’s great, Uh hey Yn I wanted to give you this”
You look up seeing a pink envelope of with a rainbow sticker to seal it. You look at him and then the envelope. He smiles and pushes it closer to you. You groan and take before stuffing it into your purse
“Will you read it?” He asks with a hopeful tone
“Yeah Yeonjun, now please get out my face” you say waving him off
He giggled before leaning down and kissing your cheek before running off. You look towards your friends who all had a dropped jaw
“What does that note say?” Bianca says
“Don’t know and don’t care. Probably will throw it away” you say shrugging
“Absolutely not! Give it here I’ll read it!” Bianca says. You sigh and hand over the envelope. She quickly opens it and gasp before reading
“You exist in my world, in a way that no one else does . You are so special to me. You have a place in my heart no one else ever could have. Give me a chance please? Ps…your pretty” Bianca reads causing the other girls to aw and you to gag
“He even taped a rose to it!” Sunhee says
“Yn if you don’t give him a chance I will” Layla says
“We’ll give him one” you say with a sarcastic smile. You stand up grabbing your bag and snatching the note before walking out
“I don’t know why she won’t give that boy a chance. He’s obviously crazy for her” Bianca says
“That’s because she believes Yeonjun is a whore” layla says
“Such a shame” sunhee says shaking her head
You quickly rush into the bathroom sitting down on the toilet with a sigh. You read the note over and over again.
And you couldn’t help the smile that it put on your face.
Tumblr media
“Dude it’s obvious she doesn’t like you why are you still trying?” Taehyun asks
“Because I like her! I really do” Yeonjun says
“But she doesn’t like you” Hueningkai says genuinely confused
“Oh she does! She’s just afraid to admit and plus she’s heard all those rumors about me and she believe them” Yeonjun sighs
“Does she know those rumors are like…years old?” Soobin asks
“No, she thinks I’ll dump her after sex” Yeonjun mumbles causing Beomgyu and Taehyun to laugh and slap each other
“What’s funny?” Yeonjun asks
“Aren’t you a virgin?!” Taehyun asks making Hueningkai laugh harder and Yeonjun upset
“No! And why does that matter?” He asks
“I mean it could have helped you case but. Your not a virgin so”
“How the hell would that help the situation?!” Yeonjun asks
“It would help because it’ll prove your not using her for sex”
“Your an idiot” Yeonjun says walking away to get the door that was being knocked on.
He opens the door shocked to see you on the porch
“Y-Yn?what’re you doing here?” He asks
You push a yellow envelope into his chest and turn away walking off the porch
“Don’t be late” you say confusing him
“Wha? He says opening the envelope seeing a letter. He closes the door back with his foot before reading it
“I am willing to give you a chance. Maybe I like you to, but only a little bit so don’t get big headed choi. Meet me at the cafe on 5th street. Ps…I’m not a rose girl I like tulips”
“FUCK YEAH!” Yeonjun shouts jumping up and down after reading the letter
“Yeonjun? What’s wrong? Who was at the door?l soobin asks coming down the stairs
“She said yes! She’s giving me a chance” Yeonjun says waving the letter in the air with the biggest smile
“Well rub butter on me and call me a turkey, she agreed?” Beomgyu says coming down the stairs
“Yes, and never say that again” Yeonjun points making the three of them laugh
You took a gander and gave him a chance.
♡ ʜᴇᴀᴅᴄᴀɴᴏɴ : txt ! naps ♡ masterlist ♡
they always say that sleep makes everything better. and sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn’t. but him? he really does make everything better.
ot5!txt x gn!reader (a little something for each member); the rest under the read more | 1.5k total
warnings: minor smallest innuendo in gyu’s, nothing explicit; use of pet names throughout | genre: fluff
♡ sᴏᴏʙɪɴ : “have a nice nap?”
your eyes blink open, and the world is upside down. except, not really, but it is kinda sideways. the tv is crooked, the windows are on the floor, and the lights are off. the more you wake up, the more you realize where you are: on the couch, soft pillow under your head, and a cozy throw blanket on top. when you sit up, it falls off, and as you blink more sleep from your eyes, you hear him. “have a nice nap?” soobin asks from his chair, book in hand. “reading in the dark again?” you ask. soobin’s smile falls, suddenly defensive. “no, the light from the kitchen makes it easy to see and—” you laugh, falling back over, lured by the lost warmth of the blanket. you reach out for him, and you watch as soobin’s features soften, his breath slow. he marks his page and puts the book down, shuffling over to you. he kneels beside the couch, hands cupping your face. “yes, baby?” he says, and his tone gives you the smallest shiver. “nap with me?” you ask, voice shy. you want to pull the blanket up but his hands stop you. soobin leans forward, pressing a gentle kiss to your lips. “of course,” he says, motioning for you to scoot back and give him room. he settles in, pulling the blanket up around both of you. his warmth is overwhelming in the best way. he presses another kiss to your forehead, and you feel yourself drifting back off. “of course,” he says. “of course.”
♡ ʏᴇᴏɴᴊᴜɴ : “i’m sorry i woke you, baby”
you jolt awake, bolting upright and turning towards the kitchen. when your sleepy eyes focus, you see a sheepish looking yeonjun staring back at you. you rub your eyes to make sure you’re seeing right—yeonjun with a pot in one hand and a pan in the other. “jjunie?” you ask, and you’re sure you look as bewildered with your nap-ridden hair as you sound. “i’m sorry, baby,” yeonjun says, doing is best to place the metal pot and pan down onto the counter without any noise. he sways around the kitchen island, walking towards you. he leans down, over the back of the couch, to cup your cheeks. “i’m sorry i woke you, baby,” he says softly, in a tone you know he’s using to try to get you to fall back asleep. you hate to admit that it’s working, but you’re going to soak up the attention while you have it. “i know how hard your week has been, and how much you hate the dishes, so i was doing them, but then i guess i was going too fast and a lid slid out of my hands and hit the floor,” he says. you want to say i really don’t mind, but your minds starts churning mischievously. “i guess you’ll have to make it up to me,” you say simply, and relish a bit too much in the small panic in his eyes. “how?” he asks, dropping down and placing his hands on the back of the couch. “hold me?” you ask, and yeonjun’s smile makes any teasing worth it. he hops over the back, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you to him, arms tight, planting a teasing kiss of his own against your neck. “all you have to do is ask.”
♡ ʙᴇᴏᴍɢʏᴜ : “you don’t get enough sleep”
“come to bed,” he calls. “you don’t get enough sleep.” you can’t see him from your spot at the kitchen table, laptop open and notes strewn all around, but you can imagine what he’s like. hair a mess, pillows fluffed, and the blanket pulled all the way up to his chin. your eyes shift from the bedroom doorway to the window beside you, where the afternoon sun is only just now starting to peek in. “it's like three, gyu,” you call back, and at first there's no reply. and it remains that way. you aren't sure what he's playing at, or if he's even awake. as long as you've known him, beomgyu loves his naps. there's also something you find peaceful about him resting, how soft his features get. you can't resist. you sneak up, careful not to make any noises. when you get to the bedroom door, you push it open slightly to peak in at—nothing? you step inside, confused. the bed has the covers thrown off but there's no—you feel hands snake around your waste and you yelp as beomgyu’s laugh fills the space. “gotcha,” he whispers into your ear. “you're so unfair!” you want to be mad, but you can't be, he cares for you so much in so many ways. beomgyu twirls you around in his arms to face him, eyes curved deviously. “come to bed with me,” he says, voice low as he ducks to kiss your neck. “beomgyu!” you sound flustered, but soon enough you're both laughing in each other's arms. “please? i'm serious: come rest?” he asks, walking towards the bed and tugging at your hand. “i promise i won't let go.” you shake your hand free, posing like you're thinking about something. “and backrubs?” beomgyu reaches for you, hands on your shoulders, and places a soft kiss to your lips. when he pulls back, you shiver, already missing his warmth. he smiles, eyes softening just for you. “and all the kisses you can ask for.”
♡ ᴛᴀᴇʜʏᴜɴ : “honey, that’s not how you make the bed”
you had all the intentions to actually and accurately make the bed. it’s not your fault that everything was so warm and cozy you might have fallen asleep. for how long, you aren’t 100% sure, but you know it was a while, because it was late afternoon when it started and now you can tell the sun has set. taehyun smiling at the side of the bed at you is another indication that it’s way later. “honey,” he says, “that’s not how you make the bed.” you pout playfully. “i know,” you say, and the more you wake up, the more you realize you really didn’t do anything. the fitted sheet is on, but you find yourself under the flat sheet with nothing else. no pillows, no comforter or duvet or extra blankets. the fan above spins slowly, a quiet hum in the room. “i tried?” you say, trying your best to stifle the giggles bubbling up inside. taehyun rests his hands on the mattress and leans over, eyes glinting with a teasing nature. “are you sure?” he asks, voice low in a way that makes you shy. “because it doesn’t look like it.” and then his hands are on your ribs, tickling and teasing and now you can’t keep any laughter down, and neither can he. taehyun falls beside you, laughter shaking his body, and he curls into yours. when you both manage to catch your breath, you ask, “how was your day?” and he smiles softly. he reaches over to cup your cheek, and you relax into his touch. “better now,” he says, “with you.” “even if i did such an absolutely fantastic job with making the bed?” you ask. “especially how amazing you did,” he replies, pulling the sheet over both of you and snuggling in closer. you lean into his warmth and decide that maybe you should make the bed wrong more often.
♡ ᴋᴀɪ : “you stayed up past your bedtime”
you hastily click “skip intro” with the remote, watching as the tv’s images jump from the opening sequence to the first scene. the rest of the apartment is dark, with only warm light from the candle you lit on the kitchen counter bouncing around the space. the pizza you ordered sits abandoned on the coffee table, half eaten. the bowl of chocolate and snacks you made for yourself sits beside it. your eyes stay glued to the tv, and you don’t really know what time it is beyond “late.” you told kai you would stay up for him, waiting until he returned from work or meetings or whatever. you kind of can’t remember, because of how much has happened in the drama you only just started at dinner. you’re surprised every time how much gets stuffed into a single episode. you’re so enraptured you don’t hear the door clink open and thud closed, or the bags of whatever kai has brought home hitting the counter. you jump when he speaks right next to you, leaning over the back of the couch: “you stayed up past your bedtime.” you reach to pause the episode before turning to face him, smile growing on your face. “because i waited for you!” you say, leaning over to give a quick kiss. you relish how you can see him flush, even in the low light. “you could have taken a nap or something,” he mutters, walking around the couch to join you. you settle into his side, curling underneath his chin while kai wraps his arms around you. you feel him relax, and it makes you smile even more. “so,” he asks, “what did i miss?” you shrug, hitting play. “too much to even try to explain.”
Just Pretend (BEOMGYU) CH4 - The Group Project
Tumblr media
Prom went way better than I thought it would. Don't get me wrong, I was stoked to be going with Beomgyu. But knowing that the whole time, he was doing me a 'favor'? I thought it would be super awkward. Especially when I realized that neither of us had tickets to the dance, I thought I blew it right then. But I didn't.
It's harder now. It was easy to have a crush on him when I figured that was all it would be, and maybe that's the same. However, now I know so much more about him. And I feel like there's a connection between us, like he's not as unreachable as he used to seem to me.
And when I said that I might understand him, he said maybe!!! Maybe! And that he had a good time! But... that doesn't mean that it'll mean something after that. He could've just been responding.
Despite that, I don't want to think that way. As I walk into the classroom and sit at my desk, I find myself getting excited for class. I grab my notebook and pencil case, thinking what my color scheme should be for today's notes. Well, it's raining today, maybe blues? I grab a dark blue pen and match it with a light blue highlighter. And maybe... a bright red! Red like the vibrantly colored umbrellas and raincoats. I title my page and add the date. Mesmerized by the notebook in front of me, I'm pulled out of my trance the second a certain someone walks in.
It's Beomgyu. And he looks perfect. He always does to me. His long hair is fluffed up as he saunters into the room. What do I do? Should I wave, or is that too much? Should I pretend I don't see him? Is that rude??
He looks over and meets my eyes. He brightly grins and waves. My heart skips a beat, eyes widening. I give a short wave back and stare down at the paper facing me.
Why do you have to be so awkward, Y/N! You're losing your chance!
----------
When the bell rings, I stroll over to his desk. I hesitate, but we're friends now, right?
"Hey" I greet.
"Hi" he grins, "how was your weekend?"
"Mine was good! What about you?"
He starts, "Mine was-"
"How's the new couple doing?" Yeonjun says a bit too loudly.
But it's fine, because most of the class had already left, right?
...Wrong.
I turned in horror as the rest of our classmates stared from the door. I guess I took for granted how small our class was. They all were much more invested than I feel they should be.
"YOU TWO ARE DATING?!" Someone yelled.
"Um, uh.." Beomgyu stutters.
Yeonjun interjects, "Yeah, they went to prom together. Did none of you know that?"
As he's talking, he turns to us. His face gets confused as he whispers, "What's wrong? Are you two trying to keep it low key or something?"
I grimace as Beomgyu finally answers the other students, "Um, yes. This is my uh, girlfriend, Y/N" The students that remain in the class seemed shocked, but most of them fled the classroom quickly.
Once they'd all left, Yeonjun asks, "What's up with you guys?"
"We aren't actually dating," I answer, "Beomgyu was just pretending to be my prom date, 'cause my mom wanted me to go, and.. yeah"
"Ah, I'm sorry.." Yeonjun apologizes, "you're a super bad liar though, Beomgyu"
He laughs as Beomgyu glares at him, I look down at the ground in guilt, "I'm really sorry Beomgyu. You're in this mess because of me. I'll help you fix it"
"Oh, It's not your fault! It's his," he glares at Yeonjun, "besides, I don't mind. We're friends, right?"
I nod. Friends...
He puts his arm around my shoulders and grins, "C'mon, girlfriend, we gotta get to our next class!"
I, however, am a fantastic liar. Because as we laugh together about how "we're just friends", my heart tears itself apart.
------
Rain pours from the sky, dripping down the window panes and onto pedestrians passing. A selection of patterned umbrellas shower the streets. I watch from the table on the second floor as people walk past.
It was our second class of the day now, history. And I'm feeling even more tired than this morning when I woke. I can't seem to focus, my mind cringing at the former scene and how my peers now know of my crush on Beomgyu, in a way. And yet, he still doesn't.
"-and you'll be choosing your own groups for the project"
What did the teacher say?? Choosing groups? This is the worst part of my classes. If I could just do the project on my own, that'd be easier. Now, I have to awkwardly glance at acquaintances and hope that someone partners up with me. If not, we'll have to do the whole "everyone without a partner raise your hand!" And I've had just about enough attention from my classmates today.
(BEOMGYU POV)
I turn to my friends, "should we all group up together?"
They aren't listening, they're talking about something else. Without me. It might be nice to work with someone else for a change, instead of having to nag them to do the work and feel like such an uncool friend.
"Oh! You all weren't in our first period, were you? Everyone knows about Beomgyu's girlfriend now, it was hilarious" Yeonjun laughs.
Huening Kai just gives him a blank stare, "Beomgyu has a girlfriend?"
Yeonjun stops, "yeah, they went to prom together? Y/N?"
Huening gasps, "YOU AND Y/N ARE DATING?!"
"It's not-" I begin.
"Shouldn't you work with her then?" Soobin questions.
"Yeah, yeah! You can get closer with your girlfriend" Yeonjun teases.
It feels like they're trying to leave me out again, like they dont want me in their group. I attempt to join back in, "but, aren't we always a group?"
"Well, yeah, but the groups can only have four people, so it just makes sense for you to work with her" Taehyun reasons.
Before I know it, they've pushed me in front of Y/N. And now we've made eye contact, and I'm making a fool out of myself in front of a pretty girl.
"H-hi"
"Hey" she says.
"Can uh, can we work together?"
"Sure!" She replies.
The class settles as everyone sits down with their group. However, the teacher notices our group of two and questions, "what's going on here? I said groups of four"
"W-well sir, we are going to work as a group of two" I stutter.
"It's gonna be a lot more work as just a pair, but if that's what you want"
I gulp as I turn to look at Y/N. She's turned away from me, staring out the window. I might be wrong, but I can't help but notice a faint blush on her face.
Bright Night {Jin X Reader Fluff}
Tumblr media
 Christmas. A special time that comes around once a year, filled with magic stories and warmth.
For the christmas season The seven guys would host a party for themselves as old tradition. But when Yoongi and the band mates got big they hosted larger parties in the holiday spirit. Hundreds of idol groups and musicians were invited, sure they wouldn’t all come but it was still a lot of people. Which is where we were right now.
“Happy Holidays from BTS!” They all shouted in sync, bowing slightly. The crowd entered slowly gawking at the amazing place.The guys all wore matching shimmering white suits with small gold accents. Other than Junkook who had arrived late. Now that the night has fallen all the gold, white and green decor shone so much brighter. I couldn't wait to see the lights outside. It was one of my favorite things about the season. Jin had taken me to a light show a week before the party and it was amazing. He and the rest of the guys lingered in front of the entrance doors. Greeting people as they flooded in. Jin's hand around my waist, though it was kind of bold, I felt more relaxed and safe. Waving and bowing at each guest who made their way over to us. Until nearly the rest of the entire group was calling for Jin from the dinner tables, which had been set up not long ago. He dragged me along with a sweet smile and I easily obeyed. It was so nice getting to see all the guys relaxed and having fun together. Other than Jin and I being close, the next member I was closest to was Namjoon.
“F/N, Jin! Come sit. It’s been awhile!” A familiar upbeat voice called out toward us as we sat. looking to see that it was no other than Hoseok. At the rather large rectangle white table sat in the front of the other round tables. Our chairs facing the rest of the guests. Namjoon sat in the middle, to his right sat Jin and I. Next to us was Tae and Jimin at the far end. To Namjoon’s left sat Hoseok, Yoongi and Jungkook.
“Welcome, nice to see you two.” Namjoon’s voice muttered under the loud chatter. Yet a warm smile graced my view. Our first proper introduction since getting here moments before Junkook and his date.
“Not late are we?” Jin snapped quickly. His fluffy milk chocolate hair danced in the air.
“No no. Just on time. Go on ahead and grab some dinner. Tonights gonna be a long one.” Namjoon chuckled, while Jin pouted toward the younger and gave him an elbow gab. “Ayyy I didn't say anything. Seriously. Go grab some food, we have a performance later too.”
With that Jin dragged me about around the serving tables. Nice filling smells as we walked by. He showed me styles of dishes he had to have known would be there. I could only guess what he helped out with this year. Getting a decent sized plate full of food we sat at the once again full table. Everyone with full plates. Everyone was devouring their food while I was a little busy taking in Jin’s amazing appearance. His light hair fluffed like a comfy cloud slicked back slightly to reveal his eyebrows. His sparkling white suit matched with the other members. He seemed to glow among these candle lights. Nearly more appetizing than food.
“Aren't you eating?” Jin questioned. His sweet caring doe eyes met mine. Snapping me out of my stare.
“Y-yes! I was just thinking.” Replying, shoveling a mouth full of the food, from my plate in my mouth.
“Thinking about how handsome I was as you stared?” Jin inquired teasingly as he avoided my blushed gaze. Inching closer as I flushed.
“N-no. Just deciding what to eat first.” lying, as I shoved another random spoon full in my mouth. He let out an oddly cute giggle. Leaning back over to his dish. It didn't take long for everyone to finish even though most had eaten more than the usual one serving. Me included. Once again we were swarmed with other idols. Well. surrounding them. While the members held onto their dates for dear life. Honestly I had grown accustomed to a few groups in Hybe. Yeonjun of TXT, Jake from EN- to name a few. There were TONS of other groups here but the Hybe ones I knew for sure. Once we greeted the swarm of Idols and a few staff we made an escape. It was roughly two hours before the end of the party and Jin’s performance. With that being true we went to meet with a few other members. Entering a room filled with artists relaxing. White couches holding famous idols and round tables holding drinks and snacks. A few familiar faces were already there: Yoongi, Taehyung, Hoseok, Namjoon, Yeonjun and another younger TXT member I couldn't remember the name of. The bunch seemed rather relaxed other than Namjoon and Yoongi. But as soon as the leader's eyes met the oldest he relaxed a little. The room was pretty much full but Taehyung stood up toward Jin and I greeting everyone.
“Hey guys! Feel free to take my seat. I’m going down to dance more. I was only here for Kookie but  he left. I’ll find Jimin.” Tae blurted out to Jin next to me. Jin gave the younger a thumbs up, Before he dashed off down the hall to the music. We went to take our newly obtained seats until Yoongi stood up to leave too.
“Right. We will be taking our leave. See you on stage Hobi.” Yoongi barked coldly, barely loud enough for me to hear. Was it me he didn't like? I knew the members decently well so I hoped not. We both froze, I was close enough to tell Jin had clenched his jaw. Yoongi hauled his partner out of the room behind him.
“Yoongi- Thats rude to leave- It’s not your guys fault, so sorry.” His partner bowed before they were dragged out of sight. Jin sighed and shook his head a little. The whole room got tense by that point.
“You young folk these days. Worrying your elders.” One hand on his hip as the other swung an ‘angry’ finger. Jin chuckled out as the laughter soon filled the room again. He shot a smile down at me. Feeling the stress left me as he held my cold hand with his warm one. Namjoon patted an empty space next to him. Squeezing through the legs between our seat.
We all chatted freely with no worry of press or reputation to uphold. Well. not for me anyway since I didn't really have one to begin with. A half  hour went by and Yoongi was back with his partner. When they entered the room they were both flustered and wouldn't meet each other's gaze. Hopefully no one else had noticed this. Jin clearly had. Shooting Yoongi a quick smirk. But Not many others seemed to react. Moments after Jungkook and his partner arrived. While Taehyung was dancing away I'm sure. Everyone seemed to be joyful. Exactly what they deserved. Jin certainly. He wasn't the leader of the group no. But his ‘motherly’ duties were far more than Namjoons. Cheering for each member. For me as well. A shoulder to cry on and a friend to spill drama to. I couldn't have asked for more. I stayed silent pretty much the whole time. I wasn't a huge social butterfly and this was a lot at once. Another half hour went by and it was time for BTS to prepare for their concert to end the night.
“Guys! We need you on set!” Jimin called from the door Taehyung not far behind. The two positively beaming. With looks and energy. The guys all stood up and made their way toward the door, Jimin scowled at Yoongi as he went through the door. A seemingly angry blush filled his vision, his partner confused. I had assumed that meant I could go with Jin. seriously. I know Yeonjun but being along with this many people, no thanks. The group chatted away as they went for the set. A small room near the stage blasting music. It didn't take long for each of the guys to be standing behind the curtain on stage.
“We ready?!” Namjoon called out to the guys. Jin was off stage in the joint room with me. Holding both my hands.
“One moment guys!” Jin leaned over to face the door as he called out, his hands still on mine. He looked back to me, a pink dusted his cheeks. This was new. Jin would never get embarrassed. “Here. This is part of my gift to you. You’ll get the rest after the party.”
“What. You didn't have to Jin!” I called out as he reached into his pocket. A small silver unwrapped box. He opened it and it was a snowflake-like hair clip. Covered in crystal gems and silver.
“It matched your outfit. I saw you plan for the night. I knew you needed to have it. I’ll see you after arlight?” Jin spoke softly, tucking my hair behind my ear. Sliding in the new silver clip. Cupping one side of my face, his eyes locked with mine. A small warm smile flooded his face and eyes. Plump lips on mine for only a moment. Before he waved and rushed off behind the stage curtain. Rushing out to catch the performance. The dance hall was now flooded with all the guests.
“We are! BTS!” the gold curtain rose revealing the seven members. Dressed in elegant sparkling white suits.
“Happy holidays everyone! Here is the sneak peak to what will be broadcast for ARMY’s around the world. Enjoy!” Namjoon called out over his mic. The crowd instantly yelled. Jungkook started the show with a solo of silent night. To follow was Jimin and Namjoon singing Santa Claus is coming to town. Amazingly of course. Namjoon full of cute dances while Jimin growled out lyrics slyly. Next was Yoongi and Taehyung with jingle bell rock. Blown away by Tae’s amazing blues vibes. Their voices always did work so well together. Even if their personalities were so different. Then was my BF and Hoseok. The two stepped out on stage. I could tell Jin’s hunting gaze was for me. Meeting my gaze quickly before Hoseok burst into song. One of the brightest smiles I've ever seen from Jin, lit up the stage. Feliz navi da was the last ‘solo’ song before the last group one. As Jin had told me the set list. The rest of the members joined Hoseok and Jin.
“Alright! We have some special guests here tonight as I'm sure you've noticed. To join us up here for the last number!” Hoseok called out, eyeing me down in the crowd. I now knew what he had meant. Before I knew it Jin had pulled me up on stage with the other dates members were pulling up. Jin had his hand around my waist resting on my hip. The guys all started to sing and dance around. The crowd followed suit. The song over as the crowd cheered for each other. Jin’s focus is only on me.
“I love you.” He smiled softly so the mic wont pick it up. My face bright red. Hiding my face as he made me wave to the crowd with him. I was nervous. So very nervous. But he was there with me. So I knew I’d be fine. After the performance we rushed to the front doors to see people off. I felt myself getting more and more tired. I couldn't imagine how Jin felt. He had just performed and set up all day yet I was the one yawning. Once everyone had safely left it was now our turn. Luckily We weren't on cleaning duty for tomorrow. But I'm sure I'd help out anyway. Jin met back up with me in a more comfortable outfit and clean face. He seemed tired but content. We said our goodbyes to the bandmates and took off ourselves. I had fallen asleep on the drive home, but the sound of the loud car door opening and closing woke me up.
“mm..Jin? Wait, this isn't home.” I jumped up rushing out of the car searching for Jin. the cold air nipping at my nose. “Jin?”
“Oh you're awake! Sorry I'm in the trunk.” He replied giggling a little due to my shock. I made my way to the back of the car where his voice was coming from. A sweet smell filling my senses.
“What are you- oh my gosh..” My words were taken away. Colorful lights decorated the city below us. Next to him was a pile of blankets and a small tray of cookies. He stood up from the trunk and held his arms out. I flung myself into them, a cozy hug against the cold. “Thank you. All the lights are so beautiful and bright. But your smile shines the brightest.”
"Are you telling me I'm blind? You saw the picture, Yeonjun. Are you going to try to tell me any different?" you weren't shouting, you sounded simply defeated, eyes puffy from crying. Ignoring your bleeding heart, you refused to shed any more tears. He flinched at your harsh words. You never called him that, it's only ever been 'Junnie'. But you had to be harsh. If you didn't put up this cold façade you would fall into pieces on the floor, unable to pick yourself up.
xxx
He couldn't answer, it was true. Horrified, he watched you zip up your black duffel that you had hastily packed with some of your belongings.
"That's what I thought.", you laughed in disbelief, grabbing the bag off the bed you shared with him for the past year of your three long years together. He followed you out of the bedroom, trying to stammer out some sort of rebuttal.
"I was black-out drunk, y/n. I don't even fucking remember it! Okay, look, I know that's not an excuse. I fucked up. Please, baby, let's talk through this. I can't lose you..", he darted past you trying to keep you from getting any closer to that front door. If you reached the door... he didn't even want to think about the end of "us".
"Don't you dare call me 'baby'! You should have thought of that before putting yourself in a situation where you ended up plowing some bitch the moment she came onto you!", you sighed, you had let yourself get worked up again. It was laughable, about the most cliche thing you'd ever heard. Who hasn't been drunkenly cheated on? Taken aback, by the entirety of it, you never thought this would happen to you. Yeonjun wasn't perfect, yet you could have easily said he'd never cheat before today.
"Yeonjun, even if I stayed. How am I supposed to forgive you? How am I supposed to forget? These hickies on your neck? I didn't make them, someone else did. The humiliation I'll face if I stay with you? I love you, Yeonjun, but I can't. Taehyun will be here for my things.", you stepped around him, not meeting his eyes. You didn't need to, you could hear his crying loud and clear.
"Y/n, please. You don't need to send your brother, you can just... please. I'm begging you..", you heard the thud of his knees as they hit the floor and you halted in your place. Because you would never forget, you couldn't turn around. Because you would never forget, you couldn't look at him. It takes everything not to give in, holding back your own dejected tears.
The notification of a new message; a photo. Tranquil, you slid the lock across your phone screen on the new notification bar. Heart in your throat as you took in the image, your mind was cracking at the edges. Surely it wasn't real. How could it not be? The dumb bitch sent you a selfie of your one and only Yeonjun laying naked, passed out on her bare chest. Hickies adorned over both of them. It was indisputable. She finally got what she wanted.
For the past year, after she transferred in her third year of university, she had her eye on your boyfriend. Ex-boyfriend. It wasn't that she liked him. It has been irrefutable that THE Choi Yeonjun was far out of her grasp and she was the type to want something she couldn't have. Something you thought she couldn't have. Somehow, merely one frat party was all it took for her to pulverize everything. The dreadful remembrance overcame the wall that had barely begun to form around your heart. Bitterly, you laughed as your ceaseless tears fell to the floor with each step, leaving everything behind you.
Tumblr media
A few somber months passed. Though it took two separate invitations and rejections, you were invited out for coffee with Yeonjun's "ex" best friend, Soobin. Needless to say, you had gotten to know the timid giant over the past few years and still held a good amount of trust in him. It was wrong to punish him for something he had no involvement in: he didn't gain any knowledge on what happened until after you had left. Soobin had been a good friend to you and it was just coffee.
As kind and gentle as ever, he paid for your drinks and pastries, bringing them to a table in the less populated area of the café. Somehow the meek bunny of a man easily drew out laughter and endless chatter from your battered heart. This was the most you've spoken since before.
Halfway through your chocolate-filled croissant, A broad figure stopped at your table, trapping you in.
You'd recognize your ex-boyfriend of three years anywhere. For lack of better words, he looked terrible. Purple dark circles grimly signified just how little he was sleeping. His cheeks had little color and seemed hollowed. He had lost so much weight, anyone else wouldn't have recognized him. You ignored the pang in your chest and the care you felt for him as a wave of furious anger boiled from inside.
"Soobin, what in the actual fuck?! Are you fucking kidding me??!", you scowled at the bunny you had defended in your head.
"No, y/n, don't blame him. I made him do this. Please, I just want to talk.", Yeonjun quickly intervened, preventing you from any further tearing into Soobin, who squinted his eyes shut tightly to brace himself for your rage.
"Get out of my way, I'm leaving." You stood, just about chest to chest with the man who had been the love of your life, looking up at him as if you were deciding whether to slap him or just decapitate him. He felt, either way, he deserved it.
"Please, give me 20 minutes, if after that you don't want to see me ever again I will respect your wishes.", Yeonjun pleaded, you could vaguely see the tears starting to pool, glossing over his eyes deep brown eyes that had lost nearly all their color.
"You have 15.", you hugged and sat back down in your chair, crossing your arms over your chest. Soobin took that as his queue to get out of dodge, bowing in apology before scurrying away so Yeonjun could take his seat.
"I've missed you so much, y/n.", he spoke almost in a whisper. You opened your mouth to cut him off but he quickly interjected, voice soft as ever.
"Please, for now, just listen?", he looked at you through his lashes, eyelids, all of him fatigued from fighting each passing day. Nodding, you agreed, avoiding eye contact so you didn't have to feel guilty, seeing how ruined he was. You could see his fingers playing with each other from the corner of your eye as he fidgeted nervously.
"I know what I did was so incredibly fucked up and I would spend the rest of my life trying to make it up to you. But you're my other half, I need you.
You don't have to accept right now, I'll give you as much time as you need. I'll never stop waiting for you. I beg you to think about it, y/n. Give us another chance. We can start over, yea? We had over three incredible years together and I fucked it up after I let myself have too much to drink. I will never allow myself to be in a situation like that ever again. I know I don't deserve another chance, yet here I am being selfish. Dragging my friends down with me just to get my sorry ass another shot with the best thing that ever happened to me." He grew silent, gaze caught on the table, tears incessantly streaming down his face.
Your heart throbbed. Never had you stopped loving him. However, while it had healed some, you still had an open wound on your heart that just wouldn't go away. Looking at the broken man in front of you, you yearned to tell him then and there that you felt the same. You may not look it but life without him wasn't life at all.
Thanks to the benevolence of your brother, Taehyun, and your best friend, Beomgyu, you had survived. Even so, there wasn't a day that went by without even the most minute thing reminding you of your lost soulmate.
Maybe the time apart was what you needed to be able to try again. If you were being honest, if he had come to you a week earlier, even. You would have still been too hurt to consider.
However, this was now. In life, you only get one soulmate and he was yours. You retrieved your phone from your purse, pulling up his contact and unblocking him.
He looked absolutely baffled as you typed at your phone for a moment without answering. Was there something on that phone that was more important? He lowered his head once more, heart laying in pieces once again after he had collected each scattered piece to bear to you only minutes ago.
The time you stopped typing matched with the ding he received on his phone, the only reason he'd have pulled it out at a time like this. He sniffled, wiping his nose on the back of his wrist, and pulled out his phone to see you had texted him.
"I need a little more time, Junnie.", read the text. Unable to ignore the flutter of hope in his heart, a faint blush appeared over his cheeks, barely distinguishable from the redness that was already there due to his crying session not long ago.
"I understand." He nodded and wiped away the rest of his tears, caring very little at the few stares they were still receiving. He stood and fixed himself up a bit before turning around to leave. Maybe it was too early to have hope but if space was what you needed to be able to possibly make that decision, by god he'd give it to you.
"Junnie?", the desperation in your voice caught his ears and he swiftly turned back around, the gnawing at his heart almost agonizing as he heard you say his name, his nickname.
In the spur of the moment, no longer holding back from the feelings you tried so hard to hide, you threw yourself into your ex-lover's arms. he stumbled back, stunned by the sudden impact, feeling his body tense as you enclose your arms around his middle. the feeling of your body against his a familiar and welcome embrace but one he had not felt in months. Still, it wasn't long until his body relaxed, heart softening and his own arms naturally wrapping around you tightly, not ever wanting to let go.
Yeonjun, to your surprise, was the first to pull away. It was nearly too much for him, fresh tears pouring from his eyes. You blinked back your own tears, taking a step back, your eyes falling to the floor. Embarrassed, you tried to collect your composure but ended up standing there, rubbing your arm awkwardly.
"I'll give you as much time as you need, y/n", he nodded voice coming out broken before backing away gradually, turning on his heel and leaving through the café door, it ringing before he disappeared from your sights.
Tumblr media
It took you exactly a week to call him. Only because Beomgyu and Taehyun refused to let you call him that very same night. They were less ready to forgive him than you were and they didn't understand that at first. Watching you experience that heartbreak firsthand, it would take a lot longer to gain their trust back.
"Take me on a date." You had said when he picked up the phone. It was hard to hold back your laughter after hearing the panicked tone in his voice as he said your name, wanting to make sure you had meant to call him. 'Endearing' is the word you would always use to describe him, and it still stuck, even now.
You turned into teenagers in love again. Going on dates until late at night, taking a million silly couples photos for Instagram, getting nervous at each touch of each other's hands and standing at the door when he dropped you off each time, not wanting the night to end. Part of you felt you shouldn't give in so easily, but it seemed like it would be so easy to pick up right where you left off. It wasn't as hard to forgive him and regain trust with one another than you thought it would be.
Eventually, you were letting him pick you up after class again, all was going fine and well until a certain girl took notice.
"I heard you and Junnie are back together, you don't deserve someone as delicious as him." the girl spat, cornering you into the wall next to the girl's bathroom; which you had just exited a few moments ago.
"And you do?" you said back, although it ended up coming out less harsh than you had hoped for.
"Pfft pathetic, do you really think he cares for you ?! When he so easily gave in to his desires and fucked me at the first chance he got?", knowing exactly the right words to get on your nerves. You felt a sharp needle pierce straight through your heart. But you had no time to worry about that, only needing a way to get out. 'Where is he..' you thought, Yeonjun had walked you to the bathroom, so he shouldn't be that far away?
She hadn't taken that into account; wherever you were, Yeonjun was not far behind. Her back blocking your view, you didn't notice that your savior was already coming down the corridor, it didn't take long for him to speed up his pace once he saw what was going on.
"I wouldn't call that desire but a mistake.", he tapped the girl's shoulder politely. When she snapped around, hearing the new voice entering the space, he gave her the biggest, most insincere smile he could muster along with a wave of his hand as rage started bubbling deep inside him.
"See, I can only imagine what fuckery you're spouting to my baby, but I didn't think you'd have the guts to come around after you jumped my bones while I was intoxicated, knowing it was the only way you could ever get to me after all the times I've turned you down.", the man waved his hands around in exasperation. Only then did his sarcastic smile fall.
"I don't deserve to be with HER. And YOU don't deserve to be in her presence so I'd like you to take whatever ever bitchy bullshit agenda you have and crawl back into whatever disgusting hole you came out of like the naked mole-rat that you are. You have nothing on her. Come on, y/n", he wrapped an arm over your shoulder, His glare livid as a supervolcano about to erupt, his actions unpredictable, any wrong move, and he could blow up and take the world out with him. He was pissed. at her. And most importantly at himself. She was a reminder of what he did, what he allowed to happen, that ultimately ruptured your relationship.
"I'm sorry she's still bothering you. I can promise you that she'll have nothing to do with us ever again.", he lowered his arm after turning the corner, praying he didn't make you uncomfortable. Consequently, you were still a little shaken, only nodding in response. He slowed his pace, giving you a moment to ground yourself.
"Is it okay if I hold your hand?", he rubbed both his sweaty palms against his dark-wash jeans anticipating your answer. Appreciating how he cared enough to ask, you nodded and held out your hand so he could intertwine his fingers with yours.
The interaction made anxiety burst out of your chest, moving hastily throughout the whole of your body, only settled by the way Yeonjun stood up for you; like he always had. a reminder that he always loved you, back then and now. He could be a ruinous wildfire to the world, but for you, a soft, warm breeze passing through a meadow filled with flowers of blues and pinks, a trickle of cool brook a delightful sound to your own ears, a safe place for you and your heart.
Tumblr media
Both of you itched as you awaited your fourth date, he picked you up after your last class of the day, whisking you away in a taxi to the little mom and pop restaurant that had been both yours and Yeonjun's favorite all that time you lived together.
A fleeting thought; you remembered how the apartment you shared so many memories in was only minutes away. You stayed late talking to the owner, and Yeonjun denied a drink when offered a complimentary soju bottle. He didn't drink anymore. By the time the two of you were leaving, scattered drops of rain grew into a steady downpour.
"Do you remember the first time I said 'I love you?", he turned to you as you looked out into the heavy sheets of rain, tucking a stray strand of hair behind your ear and letting out a soft chuckle.
Unintentionally, he had blurted it out first. He didn't know when he started feeling that way but now, for weeks, every time you spoke he could feel the words on the tip of his tongue.
Five months into your relationship, he walked you home from a much-needed, stress-relieving evening out.
Haplessly, it had started raining. Your brother's place was in running distance, but it started pouring so abruptly. There was no choice but to take shelter underneath (something). Howbeit, you still ended up soaked from head to toe, feet squishing in your shoes, marinated in rainwater.
Through laughter, chaste kisses, and shared eye contact, he drank in every little feature of your face and it slipped.
You nodded, reminiscing along with him for a moment, the sugary taste of nostalgia coated your mind until you noticed the distance closing between you and the 181.5 cm, fox-eyed man. The curve of his plush lips continuously held your attention and he took notice.
"Can I kiss you?", he whispered softly, if it hadn't been for his face merely inches from yours, you might have missed it. Another nod was all he needed to take your lips in his own in the tenderest of embraces. A quiet sob escaped your lips but he took it all for you, tears now falling like raindrops on stained glass, mixing with his. Callused thumb gently brushing away a freshly rolled set of tears, whilst he brought his other hand to the side of your face to cup your right cheek.
And with that, you gave in. Letting him take you home. His hands were gentle, treating you as if you were the most delicate bubble ever blown. Any harsh moves and you would pop in front of him at any second. So you kissed him harder, showing him you were okay, that you wouldn't break.
After not being intimate in months you were completely parched, you thirsted for his love, his touch, more than ever much like the dry valleys of Antarctica thirsted for a single drop of water, kept from them for nearly 2 million years. Yet, he was still timid, removing your drenched clothes piece by piece and lowering you back onto the bed you once shared. Admiring you as if you were a hand-painted portrait, he took his time leaving the lightest kisses on every inch of your body. Flowering them all over your collarbones, and trailing softly down the valley of your chest, only stopping at your tummy to press his forehead against it.
"You are so goddam beautiful, my love" he murmured into your body. He was finally feeling your skin again. If he thought about it anymore he'd surely cry, and now wasn't the time for that so he made his way further down past your hips, ghosting a kiss over your heat. His breath made you shiver, made all the thoughts you once had disappear, replaced by overwhelming need. Was he seriously teasing you right now?
"Junnie, please.", not caring how needy you sounded, you pleaded with him, needing to feel him, taste him, smell him, breathe him.
The sound of desperation in your voice, all for him, finally sent him over. Gentleness shrunk away, as he pulled you by your thighs to the edge of the bed. Kneeling on the hard floor, he threw your legs over his shoulders, diving hungrily into your wetness. Looking up at you with piercing eyes as he licked voraciously at your swollen clit, lapping up your dripping cunt. He loved tasting you but he never seemed this desperate to take you in the taste of your arousal before now. Your hands found their way into his hair gripping tightly as he sucked and licked at your cunt.
"J-junnie. Want you inside...", whining, you failed to push his head away, not wanting to wait another minute.
He moaned into your wetness kissing your pulsing clit before pulling away. His hand moved, thumb gathering your slick and rubbing it over your clit at a frustratingly slow pace, your eyes glossy as you quivered. Your head fell back, wet hair fanning over the sheets.
"You want me, baby? What do you say??" He spoke in a low alluring tone, his voice teasing you like sweet honey, licking your lips, you craved for him.
"Yeonieee, please...", he stood, wordlessly stripping himself of his underwear, his hard dick slapping against his stomach. He pulled you closer with one arm, his other hand taking his cock and pressing his head to your slit, pushing it up and down to coat it in your arousal, making you whine. Leaning down he placed wet open-mouthed kisses from your jaw down to your neck, leaving you completely breathless.
"Good girl." He whispered, as he slowly pushed himself into you until you met his hips, the both of you moaning in pleasure. Filling you up nicely, you could feel his cock touching the sides of your inner walls, you moan as you shut your eyes tightly, even now you still weren't used to his size. He started slow, rocking his hips into you, allowing your body to accommodate him, and watching as his cock disappears inside you and returns coated in your slick. Reveling in your warm tightness wrapped around him so nicely, he put one hand in your hair, leaning down to kiss you deeply.
Kissing back passionately, his lips tasted of cherry, oh how you missed these heated moments where nothing else in the world mattered apart from how he was making you feel. Breaking away the kiss, "Ahh... J-junnie." you felt around frantically for one of his hands, him taking it into his own, and intertwining your fingers. While leaning his body over you, pressing a soft kiss on your shoulder. Your arms wrapped around his neck in an attempt to feel his body even closer.
"Junnie... please." his low thrusts coming to a halt.
"Please, what, baby girl?" he asked, teasing you. "Please fuck me" and that's all he needed to hear from you, "Anything for you, baby." moaning against your neck, as he slid his cock out, the tip brushing against your g-spot, before pushing in again. Building up pace little by little, you could feel him twitch inside you.
He slid his cock out, the tip brushing against your g-spot, before pushing in again, taking his time to fuck you slowly, building up a pace little by little. Reveling in your warm tightness wrapped around him so nicely, he put one hand in your hair, leaning down to kiss you deeply. You turned your head slightly to pull away.
"Junnie, please go faster." You begged, he smirked at your desperate pleas, more than happy to comply. He followed your request, snapping his hips into you roughly, slamming past your g-spot and into your cervix repeatedly. Making you cry out, you were seeing white.
"So deep..." you whimpered. He growled in response, leaning back, gripping both of your hips tightly letting his nails dig into your skin as he pulled you to meet each uneven thrust. Skin slapping wetly as he fucked you harder, you dragged your nails down his biceps making him hiss out lightly.
"Baby, you feel so.... so fucking good. I love you....love you so much." He groaned, running his hand up your body and firmly grasping your breast as his gaze full of fervor locked with yours,  "so beautiful..."
"L-love you, Junnie. Love you... gonna cum. Junnie I'm gonna cum."
He reached to rub over your clit, sending your eyes rolling into the back of your head as you moaned loudly.
"That's a good girl. Cum on my cock, baby." He could feel you cumming around him, squeezing him tightly.
Rubbing your thigh softly, he rutted into you with jagged thrusts as he came deep inside, cum spilling out onto the sheets with each slowing thrust. He leaned over you, head falling into the crook of your neck.  Both of you breathed heavily, coming down from euphoria. This bliss with him was saccharine, it was healing. He was healing.
He stood, grabbing his discarded shirt, and started to work on cleaning you up. His touch was gentle once again as he wanted nothing more but to cherish you.
"Stay tonight?", he asked still a little breathless, only making fleeting eye contact as he tried to hide how badly he hoped for a yes to pass your lips.
"Yeah... I'll stay."
TxT when they catch you dancing to one of their songs
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing:: txt x gn!reader
genre:: fluf
note:: am much too lazy to proofread so here goes nothing
Yeonjun::
you were cleaning since yeonjun was coming over
and you had your speaker connected, just absentmindedly listening to music
and that's when Puma came on
it didn't matter that you didn't know the choreo that well, you still had the key points
so you danced as you dusted around your apartment
filling in the moves you didn't know with your own
unbeknownst to you though, you had a silent audience for more than half of it
yeonjun watched with a grin, almost failing not to laugh when you sang along to the chorus
it wasn't until yeonjun's rap part did he let you know he was there
he wasn't serious with it at all, and was mostly trying to make you laugh as he exaggerated the words
and oh it worked, because when the chorus came back he started twerking
even through the embarrassment you died on the spot laughing as did he
Soobin::
you were cooking for your boyfriend with your playlist going quietly in the background
however, when Magic came on you felt obligated to turn it up a bit
the dance was addictive and you loved doing it
you couldn't give a full effort as you had to focus on not burning your food
but you gave it all that you could
soobin snuck in unawares and giggled quietly as he watched you do the hand motions and move your feet in the small space
you were rocking you hips back and forth when you felt arms wrap around your waist
almost dropping the tongs you were holding and screeching until you heard the laugh
"soobin!"
you were beyond embarrassed and heat rose in your cheeks
rushing to turn the music down again as he continued to laugh
"aww, c'mon baby, it was cute."
you just shook your head and turned back to the food as he kissed your cheek
"never again." you vowed, but you both knew it was a lie
Beomgyu::
you had just pulled out the mop when LO$ER=LO♡ER began playing
you couldn't help the laugh as you realized how perfect it was
and so you started dancing with the mop as your mic prop
giggling all through out as you moved about the kitchen
beomgyu entered as quietly as he could when he heard the music outside your door
already guessing what he'd find but it was hard for him not to laugh as he approached an unsuspecting you
suddenly the mop was snatched out of your hands and beomgyu continued the dance flawlessly with a laugh
you didn't feel much embarrassment, it wasn't the first time you and beomgyu had caught each other dancing
he always hyped you up anyway in true boyfriend fashion
he ran his hand up the mop in the move that always made butterflies erupt in your stomach
after that you both finished the dance, passing the mop back and forth, while laughing
Taehyun::
you had headphones in, just going about your day waiting for taehyun to text you
but he had other plans and wanted to surprise you
so as your body was wrapped up in the movements of Can't You See Me?
he walked in and he was not about to ruin the show you were giving
honestly? he just went and sat on the couch as you moved with your back to him
his eyes never leaving you as you danced
eventually you spun around and your eyes widened
he was sitting there, legs crossed with a big smile
"can't you see me?~"
he teased and laughed as you stood there in shock
"how much of that did you see?"
"will it make you feel better if i lie? but don't stop on my account love. you move really well."
and his praise only made you blush harder
Hueningkai::
it was late, and you only assumed your boyfriend was running late from practice
so you started listening to music to pass the time
until your attention got caught by New Rules
and you couldn't help but begin to dance to the energetic song
so when hueningkai walked in the door you were mid choreo
and he couldn't help but giggle
however he rushed to drop his things and join you
which caught your attention and you tried to stop before embarrassing yourself further
but he grabbed your hands in his and began to pull you around in an effort to dance with you
who could resist him anyway?
so you gave in and danced with him until the song was over
"we've got to start doing that more often y/n"
you just nodded since you were out of breath as he giggled
Taehyun woke up the next morning to his phone blasting his ringtone beside him. He flinched, accidentally smacking it off his bedside table. It tumbled to the floor, continuing to ring on his carpet.
“Who the hell is it?” he muttered, blearily trying to reach for it without getting out of bed. “I swear to God, if it’s Hyuka then—oh good morning, Beomgyu hyung. Did you sleep well?”
“I slept well, thank you,” Beomgyu replied. “Oh, and thank you for taking me home yesterday. That was kind of you.”
“Don’t mention it,” Taehyun said, sitting up. He was more awake now. “You were so sleepy last night, hyung. Of course I was going to take you home. Especially since I drove you to Soobin hyung and Yeonjun hyung’s house in the first place.”
Beomgyu chuckled. “True. Oh, I was calling to ask if you wanted to go have some lunch, but by the sounds of it, it seems you’ve only just woken up.”
Taehyun sighed as Beomgyu laughed. “Is it that obvious?”
“Your voice is a little croaky,” Beomgyu replied. “The way it normally is when you’re still half asleep.”
“You’re right, I literally only just woke up,” Taehyun admitted, trying to run a hand through his sleep-fluffed hair. “But I’m still down for lunch if the offer is available. I want to spend time with you, hyung.”
“Me too. In that case, come to my place in half an hour? We can go find a place to eat from there.”
“Cool. I’ll be there soon,” Taehyun said. “See you in half an hour, hyung.”
“See you, Taehyun.”
Taehyun smiled down at his phone when Beomgyu ended the call, feeling the drowsiness at having woken up leave his body. Beomgyu had sounded surprisingly cheerful on the phone. It seemed their visit with Yeonjun and Soobin had managed to lift Beomgyu’s spirits, and make him feel more comfortable with their ‘friends’ arrangement.
Taehyun chuckled, pleased, before stretching and getting out of bed. He should wash and get dressed so he could go see his Beomgyu hyung as soon as possible.
Thirty minutes later, Taehyun was standing outside Beomgyu’s front gate, unlatching it and stepping into his front garden. He crunched his boots down on the thin layer of snow that was gradually melting, pausing to gaze up at Beomgyu’s blossom tree. The pink flowers still had their petals spread prettily, undeterred by the surprisingly cold temperatures that had arisen during that spring. They were getting more comfortable with the snow, it seemed. Taehyun smiled, continuing the walk down Beomgyu’s front path. It was like how Beomgyu was beginning to feel more comfortable with Taehyun as well.
Taehyun raised his hand and knocked on the door, stuffing his hands back into his coat pockets, rocking back and forth as he waited for Beomgyu to open the door. He heard the light pattering of feet from inside Beomgyu’s house, and soon the door swung open to reveal a smiling face.
“You really came in half an hour, didn’t you?” Beomgyu said, amused. “Come inside. I’m having a little bit of trouble with my hoodies.”
Taehyun raised an eyebrow, stepping through the front door. “Hoodies, hm? But you’re wearing one right now.”
“I know, but this isn’t the right one,” Beomgyu explained, taking Taehyun’s coat and hanging it up. “It doesn’t have the right feeling for a lunch meal. Plus, I look terrible in it.”
Taehyun stepped back to eye Beomgyu’s outfit. The elder was practically swamped by the fluffy brown-and-white hoodie he was wearing, looking incredibly soft and adorable. Taehyun had no idea what Beomgyu meant when he said it wasn’t the right ‘feeling’ for lunch, and all he knew was that, even in such a casual fit, Beomgyu looked great. So he said just that.
“You look great. I don’t see why you need to change.”
Beomgyu blushed, surprised by Taehyun’s bluntness. “Well, thank you, but I personally feel like it doesn’t feel right. But the only thing is, I don’t know which one does feel right.”
Taehyun tilted his head. “That’s… odd. But anyway, let’s go take a look at your wardrobe, yeah?”
They made their way upstairs, chattering lightly. Beomgyu laughed when Taehyun almost tripped at the top stair while he was too busy looking back at Beomgyu, teasingly sticking his tongue out when Taehyun made a face at him.
They were happier, he realised: they seemed lighter in each other’s presence. It was almost like yesterday had rejuvenated them, and as Taehyun held up two hoodies to Beomgyu’s body, eyeing them critically, Beomgyu couldn’t help but grin at how seriously Taehyun was taking the task he’d been assigned to help with. There was something so comfortable and domestic about what they were doing: Taehyun holding up Beomgyu’s clothes and putting them against his body to help him choose what to wear. And he did so with a smile on his face, making appreciative comments and noises of admiration at a combination he liked. Beomgyu smiled. It was nice.
“I don’t know hyung,” Taehyun said, putting the last hoodie on Beomgyu’s bed. He looked at them, hands on hips, scanning over all the hoodies. Then he looked back at Beomgyu, eyes tracing from his face down to his feet. “I think you look perfectly fine as you are.”
Beomgyu blushed when Taehyun made eye contact with him. Why was he blushing? “Well, uhm, thank you.”
Taehyun shrugged, smiling. “It’s the truth.” He looked down at the hoodies again. “But, and though I’m reluctant to admit it, your fashion sense is better than mine. So is there anything you think will be better?” Taehyun bent down, sifting through the items of clothing, lifting a few of them up by the hangers before putting them back down again.
Beomgyu watched him do so, and felt his ears warm appreciatively, watching Taehyun so earnestly help him find what to wear. “Actually, I think I’ll wear what I’m wearing now,” he said. “Since you think it looks okay.”
Taehyun straightened, looking up. “Yeah? Do you feel like it has the right ‘feeling’?”
Beomgyu looked down at himself. “Yeah, I think it does.”
“Great!” Taehyun smiled. “Let’s go have lunch. Do you have a place in mind?”
“Not really,” Beomgyu replied as they put away his clothes, making their way back downstairs again. “I called you in the hopes you might have some suggestions.”
“Ah, ever the indecisive person, I see,” Taehyun teased. “You haven’t changed a bit, hyung.” He froze at his own words. Because that wasn’t true: Beomgyu had changed a lot. They both knew that.
Beomgyu didn’t even bat an eye, chuckling as they walked down the stairs. “Maybe I haven’t. Maybe I haven’t. Anyway, suggestions? You can’t tease me then not have a suggestion for me, Taehyun.”
Taehyun smiled, surprised by the way Beomgyu hadn’t even stiffened at his comment. “I know a place. You used to love visiting them, hyung. How about a dog cafe?”
..。:・❅゜✿
“This place is new, isn’t it?” was the first thing Beomgyu said as they reached the cafe, craning his neck up to look at the sign. “I would have remembered a dog cafe being so close to my house.”
“I believe they opened up about a year ago,” Taehyun said, also looking up at the sign. “Hyuka was talking to me about it the other day.”
“Interesting,” Beomgyu mused. “Since we haven’t been here before, I can use this as a test run to determine if I should come here again. Come on, let’s see what food they have to offer.”
Taehyun stepped up to the door, holding it open for Beomgyu. “After you.”
Beomgyu bowed his head, smiling. “Thank you.”
They walked inside the cafe, chuckling at the dogs which began hopping around the gate at the new customers. They awwed simultaneously when a white bichon frise scrabbled at the protective gate, tail wagging excitedly when they stepped inside, immediately skittering around Beomgyu’s legs.
“I think this dog likes you, hyung,” Taehyun said with an amused laugh as Beomgyu leaned down to pick up the small dog, scratching the underside of its chin.
“I think it does,” Beomgyu laughed as the dog wriggled in his arms. “Who is the cute little dog that likes me? It’s you, isn’t it? You’re the adorable doggy that likes Beomgyu!”
Taehyun smiled as Beomgyu baby-talked the bichon frise, wandering through the cafe. He knelt beside a labrador who was lying on the floor. He looked down at the dog, and the dog looked up at him, and as if by some silent command, it rolled around so it was belly-up, waving its paws at Taehyun. Taehyun chuckled, rubbing the fur of its stomach. Cats were the cutest in his opinion, but Beomgyu adored dogs more, so throughout their previous years of dating, Taehyun grew to acknowledge that dogs were pretty adorable too.
“So Taehyun, should we find a table to sit down at?”
Taehyun looked up to see Beomgyu walking over to him, holding three small dogs in his arms and with several others clinging to his legs. He laughed, standing up. “How many dogs did you manage to collect? It looks like half of the cafe managed to migrate over to you.”
Beomgyu looked down at himself. “Maybe they like my fluffy hoodie.”
One maltese he was holding suddenly grabbed hold of the drawstring, holding it between its jaws and shaking its head rapidly, gnawing on the string. Taehyun smiled as they began to make their way towards a table. “I think they do.”
“You also have an admirer,” Beomgyu said, nodding his head. “Look, the labrador is following us.”
Taehyun looked behind him to see that, indeed, the labrador he’d given belly rubs to was following them. He smiled down at it, stopping to let the dog nuzzle into his leg. “Aw, it’s so cute.”
Beomgyu chuckled. “Now we both have dogs that like us, huh?”
“We do, we do,” Taehyun agreed, sliding into a booth, the labrador settling at his feet. “Although, it seems you have more than I do.”
Beomgyu looked down at his arms. “You’re right. I don’t think I can order anything with my hands full. I’m going to have to let go of a few of you, okay? I’m sorry, but I can’t hold onto all of you,” Beomgyu cooed, back to baby-talking the dogs. Taehyun watched amusedly as Beomgyu tried to bend down and get them to leave his grasp, but they continued to cling onto the sleeves of his hoodie. Finally, Beomgyu managed to extricate the dogs he was holding onto, with some of the more nimble ones hopping onto the seat and resting on the ledge beside their booth.
“Maybe they like your scent,” Taehyun said. “Are you wearing perfume, hyung?”
“Just my normal peach,” Beomgyu replied. “Do dogs like peaches?” he wondered, picking up a cafe menu from the table.
“What are you thinking of ordering?” Taehyun asked, scanning the menu. “Don’t tell me, you’re going to order a dessert even though it’s lunch time.”
Beomgyu chuckled. “You know me too well. I was going to have a doughnut.”
“Have something healthier, hyung,” Taehyun said. “I’m going to order this grilled cheese sandwich.”
“They have grilled cheese?” Beomgyu’s eyebrows shot up, scanning the menu more fervently. “Do you think I can request an open sandwich?”
“Maybe,” Taehyun said contemplatively. “You never know.”
"Ah, but the toffee doughnut looks so good," Beomgyu sighed. "It's staring at me right now."
Taehyun looked down at his picture-less menu, and leaned forward to peer down at Beomgyu's. "You don't have images either," he said, sitting back down. "What do you mean it's staring at you?"
"I can see the words trying to entice me," Beomgyu said, staring narrow-eyed at his menu. "It's trying to trick me."
"Buy it if you want, hyung," Taehyun said. "It'll be fine. I was just worried because I know you probably didn't have a substantial breakfast either."
"Now that is not true," Beomgyu denied. "For breakfast this morning, I had… one egg?"
"See?" Taehyun said. "But buy whatever you want. You'll be happier if you eat what you want to eat."
Beomgyu shook his head. "It's okay. I won't buy it, since it's bad for my health." He slapped the menu down onto the table, smiling. "Should we order now?"
A few minutes later, their food arrived.
"Grilled cheese sandwich and water," the waitress said.
"Oh, that would be mine," Taehyun said, raising his hand. His food was slid in front of him.
"And also a toffee doughnut and americano,” she finished. Beomgyu beamed.
"That's mine!" He grinned happily when his doughnut was given to him, immediately breathing in the smell of coffee. "Mmm, it looks so nice."
Taehyun chuckled. "I told you, you'd be happier getting the one you want."
“Mmm, the sandwich looks nice and all, but I'm glad I chose this instead," Beomgyu said, already eating his doughnut. "It tastes super good."
Taehyun smiled, picking up the sandwich. "Do you like it?"
Beomgyu nodded. "Yup!" He took a sip of the coffee. "Wow, their coffee is nice as well. I think I'm definitely going to come back here."
Taehyun chuckled.
They ate in reasonable quiet for a while longer, chatting calmly. The labrador had its head against Taehyun's leg and the small maltese was practically sitting in Beomgyu's lap now. They were pleasantly comfortable with each other.
"Ah hyung, your birthday is soon, isn't it?" Taehyun commented.
Beomgyu looked up, in the middle of taking a big slurp of his coffee. He nodded. "Yeah, in three days." His eyes crinkled at the corners as he remembered something. "I had to practically bribe the hyungs and Hyuka not to throw me a surprise birthday party this year."
Taehyun laughed. "Bribe them? What did you bribe them with?"
"Coffee," Beomgyu replied. "My coffees are the absolute best, so it was an easy bribe."
“Well, I can’t disagree with that.”
Beomgyu beamed, pleased. They both smiled at each other for a moment longer, all crinkled eyes and upturned lips, before they looked away, simultaneously becoming shy. Beomgyu sipped his coffee again, smiling down at the maltese in his lap, cheeks slightly pink. It felt nice to be able to talk so comfortably with Taehyun again. It had been too long since they’d held a normal conversation.
“Do you remember the last time we came to a dog cafe, hyung?” Taehyun asked. “It was for Hyuka’s birthday, I think.”
Beomgyu’s eyes lit up. “Yes, I do! We’d thrown him a surprise party at his apartment and he started crying so hard we panicked, didn’t we?”
“Yeah, and he said he started crying because he genuinely thought we’d all forgotten about his birthday, then we sprung the surprise on him,” Taehyun remembered, chuckling. “So we took him to the dog cafe afterwards to say sorry.”
“When was the last time we went to one, just the two of us?” Beomgyu wondered. “It’s been ages since we’ve done that, haven’t we?”
Taehyun nodded. “It has.”
“It’s been a while since we’ve done anything as just the two of us,” Beomgyu said, chuckling a little wryly. “I’m glad we’re beginning to do that again. I missed hanging out with you.”
“Same here,” Taehyun agreed. Neither of them said anything for a moment, with Beomgyu looking down to pet the maltese, and Taehyun leaning forwards to ruffle the fur of a retriever which came padding up to them.
“You know that day I saw you again?” Beomgyu piped randomly, making Taehyun look up. “The first time it snowed this year. When I was outside looking at my blossoms, and suddenly I saw you.”
Taehyun tensed a little. “Yes?”
“I think I kind of knew that I’d be seeing you again someday,” Beomgyu said. Avoiding eye contact with Taehyun, Beomgyu jostled the dog in his lap, stroking its ears. “Though I really was surprised to see you, I think I knew I’d have to see you again. I guess I was surprised because I didn’t know when it would be.”
Taehyun nodded slowly. “Oh.”
“After you left, I created a… a world for myself?” Beomgyu said. He licked his lips, nervous. Why was he nervous? Maybe because he was telling Taehyun the way he’d tried to cope with his absence. Something he hadn’t told anyone, not even their friends. “A sort of intentionally manufactured world that centered around the idea of never seeing you again.” Beomgyu paused, seeing how stiff Taehyun looked. “Oh, sorry. You probably feel uncomfortable hearing this. I should stop talking.”
“No, no, it’s okay,” Taehyun reassured. He relaxed his shoulders, heaving the labrador upwards onto the seat and into his lap, scratching the fur under its chin. He gave Beomgyu a smile, gentle and kind and understanding. Genuine. “I know when I left it hurt you a lot, and I am sorry for that. I also know you had to come up with ways to get over that. It makes me sad to hear the ways I made you suffer, but I also know it was expected.” He smiled again. “If you want to tell me, if you feel comfortable telling me, then know I am more than comfortable to hear it as well.”
Beomgyu smiled back. “Thank you.” He chuckled softly. “I’ve never told anyone these things before, and I forgot it might be awkward to hear."
"It's fine," Taehyun was quick to say. "If you want to say it, then say it. I don't mind."
Beomgyu nodded gratefully. He'd almost forgotten this about Taehyun. How willing he was to listen to Beomgyu talking, no matter what it was about. It was probably why Beomgyu had suddenly started telling Taehyun about this: it was an instinctive reaction to Taehyun's constantly reassuring presence.
"I had this routine. It was kind of like a superstition, like if I didn't follow the routine then something terrible would happen. The day I saw you again was also the first time I messed up my routine." Beomgyu squished the dog's cheeks, before it wriggled its head and hopped off Beomgyu's lap, finally bored with his affection.
Beomgyu watched it go, before placing his hands on the table, playing with his fingers. Taehyun looked at Beomgyu's hands, curling his own fingers into the labrador's fur to prevent himself from reaching out and taking hold of Beomgyu's hand.
"I really believed my routine was what was keeping you at bay. Kind of like a spell that kept the evil witch from entering the fairy village." Beomgyu said, chuckling. Taehyun smiled too, amused by the adorable thought.
“And you know, when I saw you again, I always considered it to be the day my world began to fall apart.” Beomgyu kept his head down, looking down at his hands.
Taehyun's smile faltered at that, but then Beomgyu looked up and he was smiling, smiling so softly and beautifully that, under the fluorescent lights of the cafe, Beomgyu looked like he was glowing so wonderfully it took Taehyun's breath away.
"But I think, over these past few weeks, it was more than that." Beomgyu lifted his head upwards, squinting at the LED lights in the ceiling. "The world that had broken was merely the false, plastic world I had created to deal with the loss." Beomgyu took his gaze away from the ceiling to look at Taehyun again. "I guess you were like the authentic shine to my life. With you gone, I tried to create a replica out of plastic. But now that plastic has been broken, and a new world has begun to take its place: a real one, with life and love and blossoms and snowflakes, utterly wonderful because it's a world with you in it."
"Wow, I…" He blinked rapidly, touched, feeling his throat clogging up. "That's… that's really nice."
"We're like opposites, aren't we?" Beomgyu said. "We used to say this a lot when we were dating. You're like the snow in winter, and I'm like the flowers in spring. Both beautiful, both loved, but extremely different at the same time. Different, but in balance. And with one of them gone, I tried to recreate that balance so I didn't tip over, but nothing can compare to the realness of feeling you beside me."
Taehyun had to press his fingers to his eyes so the tears didn't spill over. "Hyung…" he choked out. "I, uh, am kind of…"
"Oh. Oh!" Beomgyu quickly handed Taehyun a tissue, letting him blot his tears. "Sorry, I didn't mean to make you cry."
"It's okay," Taehyun sniffled, breathing deeply. He dabbed his eyes, before smiling at Beomgyu again. "It just moves me to hear you talk about me like that. It's been so… long…" Tears welled up in his eyes again and he rapidly brought the napkin to his face, taking deep breaths before removing it. "It made me happy, that's all."
Beomgyu was watching him worriedly, but upon hearing he smiled, relieved. "Oh, that's good. But I think we should probably change the subject because, even if you're crying because you're happy, I still don't like seeing you cry."
Taehyun almost teared up again at that, but he managed to hold it in. Hearing Beomgyu talking about him like that had made him extremely emotional. "Right, we should. So, um, what are you doing for your birthday?"
"My birthday? Oh, nothing in particular. The hyungs and Hueningkai will probably drop off my presents in the morning, spend an obnoxiously long time in my house eating my food, then I'll somehow shoo them out and spend the rest of the day to myself, I suppose," Beomgyu said. "I'd like to spend my birthday quietly, I think."
Taehyun rubbed his nose, still acutely aware of his slightly red eyes. "Well, if you're, uh, not doing much, and considering the fact we haven't talked in so long, would you, um, like to spend your birthday quietly… with me?"
Beomgyu blinked at him, surprised. Taehyun was flushed, cheeks pink and nose slightly coloured from his brief tears. He looked shy.
"I… I'd like that," Beomgyu said, smiling.
Taehyun's eyebrows shot up, surprised. "Really?"
"Yeah. Drop by whenever you feel like it. I'd be more than happy to welcome you in," Beomgyu said.
Taehyun stared at him, before his face relaxed into a bright beam. "Oh… thank you."
They smiled at each other, before immediately looking away, both blushing slightly. The Beomgyu of a few weeks ago would have been astonished he'd just agreed to spend his quiet birthday with Kang Taehyun. But Beomgyu had said yes because he wanted to. He felt his initial, severe, reaction to Taehyun's return was dying down now, and he was realising all the things he'd loved about being in Taehyun's presence. It was nice to experience it all again. He felt like he was okay with Taehyun now. They still hadn't addressed their break up, but that was a detail Beomgyu was more than willing to ignore if it meant he could feel okay with Taehyun.
He'd originally thought he'd want to spend his birthday alone, and in quiet. But now, smiling shyly at Taehyun across from him in the booth of the dog cafe, he realised maybe he'd be okay spending it with Taehyun.
Beomgyu stood in the doorway of his dining room, arms crossed, as he watched Soobin and Hueningkai continue to take sweets out of his candy stash, ignoring his presence.
“Oops, sorry Beomgyu,” Yeonjun apologised when he bumped into him. “Let me get past.”
Beomgyu looked at him, watching as Yeonjun passed him with an armful of crisps. He frowned, pouting. “You guys came here, gave me your presents, then raided my junk food cupboard?”
Hueningkai grinned through a mouth of chocolate. “To be fair, a whole cupboard is a little overkill, don’t you think? You live alone, as well.”
Beomgyu rolled his eyes. “Alright, that’s enough, all of you. You’ve given me my birthday gifts. Now shoo! Leave my food alone!”
There were several noises of protest as Beomgyu marched into the room, clapping his hands and motioning for his friends to get up. Yeonjun tried to snatch a bag of crisps, but Beomgyu swept it out of the way, eyes narrowed at the eldest. Yeonjun stuck his tongue out, annoyed.
“Honestly, hyung, you’re like a little child,” Beomgyu sighed, shaking his head. “I don’t know what Soobin hyung sees in you. Ow!” He rubbed his pinched nose, pouting at Soobin. “I’m the birthday boy. That was mean.”
Soobin rolled his eyes, but brought up a hand to ruffle Beomgyu’s hair. “One of our presents is a sweets hamper. It’ll make up for the several boxes of chocolates Hueningkai took with him.” He grinned when Beomgyu’s eyes widened. “Happy birthday, Gyu. And thanks for the sweets!”
Within seconds, the three of them had dashed out Beomgyu’s door, not wanting to get caught after stealing his junk food. Beomgyu stood on his doorway in just his socks, yelling after them as they sped down the street. Hueningkai turned around momentarily to reply, hands cupped around his mouth.
“Happy birthday hyung! I’m sure you’ll love my present!”
Beomgyu yelled incoherently back.
He watched as the three of them piled into Yeonjun’s car, which skidded dangerously on the icy roads when the elder drove off. Beomgyu huffed a laugh, equal parts annoyed and endeared. He stepped away from the doorstep, turning around and closing the door. His friends were annoying, sure, with the way they’d barged into his house to obnoxiously sing ‘Happy Birthday’ into his ear, quickly dumping presents on him before going to raid his junk food cupboard. But they were funny, and they made him laugh.
He muttered to himself as he tidied up the mess that Yeonjun, Soobin and Hueningkai had made in his dining room. They’d only been there for ten minutes, tops, and yet they’d managed to make so much mess. How was this possible?
Once everything was tidied away, he trudged to the living room, flopping down onto the sofa, staring at the gifts on his coffee table. Indeed, now he looked at them, one of them looked like a hamper. He smiled a little. It was about time they compensated him for the sweets they always stole on his birthday.
Beomgyu contemplated opening the presents now, then decided against it. He wondered if Taehyun would come today. Fishing his phone out of his pocket, Beomgyu brought up his messages, smiling at the ‘good morning’ and ‘happy birthday’ messages he’d received from the younger that morning. He hoped Taehyun would come today. It would be nice.
He sighed, pleased, stretching on the sofa. He didn’t know when exactly Taehyun would be coming, if he was coming, and now Yeonjun, Soobin and Hueningkai had been kicked out of his house, everything was relatively quiet. Beomgyu smiled a little, remembering the over-excited way his friends had greeted him when he’d opened the door that morning. He wondered if Taehyun would greet him in that way too.
It had been four years since they'd last spoken, and they had only begun to see each other again recently, but Beomgyu still thought about Taehyun in the same natural, normal way he used to, and it was like Taehyun had never left his mind. Beomgyu thought back to a few days ago, remembering their visit to the dog cafe. He chuckled a little. It had been so long since they'd visited a dog cafe, and going to have lunch with Taehyun again felt like they were transported back in time, back to the times when things were fun and carefree between them.
No one was thinking about breakups. No one was thinking about that period in time when they'd been apart. They were just living in the moment, living like they were four years in the past again.
Maybe it was a bad thing, though, Beomgyu thought briefly. Maybe it was a bad thing they were pretending like their breakup hadn't happened. He still needed answers, after all. Even if it was more comfortable, when they acted like they were back to normal, that was a facade too. It may not have felt as stiff as the other facades they'd put on, but it was a facade all the same. Maybe it was time for them to stop hiding behind illusions and false fronts, and begin talking out the truth.
Beomgyu shook his head, frowning slightly to dispel the thought. No. He shouldn't think about that. It was his birthday, after all! He should want to be happy, and even if that happiness was achieved by pretending, it was better than the tears and screams that would happen if they tried to talk about what happened.
So he'd put aside those thoughts for now. Although a part of him really did want to find out why Taehyun left, he put aside his worries. Focusing on the fact he had Taehyun back again. Focusing on the fact he had come back to him. Focusing on the happiness he felt.
There was a rhythmic rapping at Beomgyu’s door and he smiled, knowing exactly who it was. And when he opened the front door, Taehyun stood there, armed with bags and bags of food and DVDs and alcohol and gifts for Beomgyu, face alight with a grin. Beomgyu welcomed him inside, helping him put down his bags, taking off his coat, laughing and talking with Taehyun in a comfortable manner. He didn’t dwell on insecurities or worries. He just put all his attention on the fact Taehyun was here. He was here.
..。:・❅゜✿
Beomgyu was crying with laughter, practically falling off the sofa as Taehyun continued to provide his nonsensical commentary to what they were watching.
“Oh look, he’s going to fall off the cliff—yep. What did I tell you? Look at his face! You’d almost think this was a natural occurrence for him: he’s like, ‘oh, not this crap again’.”
“Taehyun,” Beomgyu gasped, “I can’t breathe—stop—”
Taehyun adjusted himself on the sofa, grinning. “Oh, and he’s waddling again… I mean, he’s not even the bird in this, and yet he does most of the waddling. He looks like a duck.”
Beomgyu, trying to catch his breath, burst into another fit of giggles as Taehyun imitated the coyote’s walk, laughing so hard that Taehyun had to reach out and steady him before he toppled onto the floor. “I can’t do this—Taehyun, why did you let me decide to watch Looney Tunes?”
Yes, they were were watching cartoons. After spending ages sifting through the DVDs Taehyun had brought, Beomgyu eventually decided on watching an old favourite of his, the episodes of The Coyote and The Roadrunner. He thought it would be a nice way to relax and reminisce with his childhood favourites, but he should have known things weren't going to be peaceful when Taehyun grinned mischievously as the opening credits rolled. He hadn’t thought much of it. Taehyun wasn’t an overly mischievous person, after all.
He’d forgotten how playful Taehyun could get.
“You’re a horrible person,” Beomgyu scolded, managing to right himself. Taehyun had paused the movie, laughing as Beomgyu tried to smooth his ruffled hair. “I can’t believe you did this to me, on my birthday of all days!”
“It’s your own fault for choosing something like this, hyung,” Taehyun teased, chuckling when Beomgyu hit him square in the face with a cushion. “Hey!”
“We are not watching any more of Looney Tunes,” Beomgyu declared, standing up to remove the disk from the DVD player, much to Taehyun’s playful complaints. “Nope! I’m not going to risk dying on my own sofa because of your ridiculous comments. Not again.”
Taehyun laughed. “Wait, you’ve died before?”
Beomgyu realised what he said, and was about to refute when he looked back at Taehyun. Taehyun was grinning, cheeks tinted light pink from how much he’d been laughing, hugging Beomgyu’s cushion and eyes twinkling under the lights of Beomgyu’s living room. He looked so… familiar. Comfortable. Like he was meant to be there.
Beomgyu closed his mouth, forgetting what he was going to say. Taehyun continued to smile at him, tilting his head, and he looked so soft and pretty with his oversized jumper and his fluffy hair and his bright eyes. He looked like he was Beomgyu’s pretty snowflake again, his opposite yet beautiful counterpart, his wonderful boyfriend. Beomgyu swallowed, looking away. Tears were prickling his eyes. Why was he tearing up?
“Hey, hyung? Are you okay?” Taehyun slid off the sofa, noticing Beomgyu’s sudden inability to speak. He crouched down beside him, placing a hand on his shoulder. He didn’t try and get Beomgyu to look at him, and simply waited until Beomgyu was ready to lift his head.
Beomgyu slowly looked up at Taehyun, who was watching him patiently. Without saying a word, he leaned forward and buried his face into Taehyun’s chest.
Surprised, Taehyun stiffened at the action, before almost immediately relaxing, wrapping his arms around Beomgyu. He didn’t say anything, simply hugging Beomgyu. Beomgyu breathed in Taehyun’s scent—his simple yet comforting scent that had slightly cold notes to it, like silver mountain water. It was a scent Beomgyu was familiar with. It was Taehyun's scent. Familiar, cool and warm all at once.
He hugged Taehyun tighter, trying to burrow into that comforting scent. He liked it: being wrapped by Taehyun's presence, almost like they were in their own world. And by the way Taehyun continued to clutch onto Beomgyu tightly, he liked it too. Beomgyu wondered why they even drifted apart in the first place, if they both loved each other's company that much.
But as soon as he'd had that thought, he furrowed his brows, pushing away. He shouldn't be thinking about that. He should focus on the fact Taehyun was here right now, not dwelling on the past.
Beomgyu plastered a smile on his face. "Alright, no more TV. Hey, why don't we try some of that wine you brought over?"
Taehyun let Beomgyu move away, arms falling to his sides. He raised an eyebrow. "Isn't it too early for you to get drunk?"
"It's my birthday, and I'm in my own home," Beomgyu said, shrugging carelessly. "I can get plastered, it's fine! We can open my presents while we're at it, too. Go on, Taehyun, get the bottles out of the fridge!"
He smiled back at Taehyun when the younger laughed amusedly, standing up to get the alcohol from where they'd been keeping it cool in Beomgyu's fridge. Beomgyu wasn't doing this to forget bad memories, or boost his confidence, or any of the other reasons people got drunk. He just wanted to have a glass of wine or ten, and laugh and smile and be a little more comfortable with Taehyun without his mind randomly reminding him of the past.
Beomgyu cheered when Taehyun came back into the living room with two mugs, several wine bottles and a cork opener in his hands. He wanted to feel like he had his Taehyun back again.
..。:・❅゜✿
Beomgyu was definitely drunk.
Taehyun was a little tipsy himself, he had to admit, but he was nowhere near the inebriated state Beomgyu was in.
His hyung was an emotional drunk: it was pretty easy to tell when he'd had too much alcohol. Currently, Beomgyu was screaming the words to the 'Wicked' soundtrack, and Taehyun tried not to cover his ears in case Beomgyu took offence and started crying. He drank his wine, draining the mug and reaching for the bottle on the table to refill it.
"Taehyun!" Beomgyu cried over the loud music playing on his Bluetooth speakers. "Come on, sing with me!"
Taehyun shook his head, laughing at Beomgyu's exaggerated pout. "Hyung, I can't sing that high! I might lose my voice!"
Beomgyu crossed his arms, as the incredibly loud climax of the song threatened to destroy the speakers. "Fine! I'll do it myself!"
Taehyun grinned, watching Beomgyu, before remembering he had a recording device and fumbled for his phone, laughing as he filmed Beomgyu belting out the words to 'Defying Gravity'. As the last, dramatic drumroll came, Taehyun laughed when Beomgyu took a deep breath and sang out the last note for as long as possible.
The song ended, and Taehyun stopped the recording, laughing and clapping as Beomgyu bowed exaggeratedly.
“It’s a good thing Soobin hyung’s gift didn’t break,” Taehyun said as Beomgyu flopped down onto the sofa beside him, reaching for his own mug of wine. “You wouldn’t want to have to explain why it broke literally five minutes after you unwrapped it.”
Beomgyu whined, hitting Taehyun on the arm. “Hey, I wouldn’t have broken the speakers! The music wasn’t that loud.”
“Hmm, doubtful. I thought my ears were going to bleed,” Taehyun teased, chuckling when Beomgyu hit him again.
“That’s mean!” Beomgyu complained, sitting upright. “I mean, it didn’t even break the glass in my windows, did it? It wasn’t that loud!”
“Hyung, that only happens if the note is high and loud enough. It has to be so loud it can’t even be heard with human ears.”
“Well, that proves my point!” Beomgyu said, crossing his arms and grinning triumphantly. “Ha!”
Taehyun rolled his eyes. In his tipsy brain, Beomgyu’s logic sort of made sense, so he didn’t say anything else. “More wine, hyung?”
“Are you trying to get me drunk, Taehyun?” Beomgyu said suspiciously, lifting his mug without complaint. “You’re trying to take advantage of me!”
Taehyun didn’t say anything, chuckling as Beomgyu began to ramble passionately while drinking his wine like it was a mug of hot chocolate instead of alcohol. His eyes were bright, hand gesturing wildly as he talked. With his pink-tinted cheeks, shiny irises and hair that was ruffled from when he’d accidentally tumbled across the floor, Taehyun’s slightly drunk self found him wonderful.
But then suddenly, Beomgyu’s eyes were glistening and he collapsed against Taehyun, sniffling softly. Taehyun, startled, looked down at him worriedly.
“Do you remember when we actually broke one of your speakers by playing the music too loud?” Beomgyu asked, voice watery. “Ah, the good old days.”
“What do you mean?” Taehyun said, brain not quite catching up with Beomgyu’s change in topic. He was distracted by how beautifully Beomgyu had smiled at him a few seconds prior.
“Remember? We were having a sleepover at your house, and we played music so loud the speaker broke.” Beomgyu chuckled a little, wiping his eyes. “I miss those times.”
Taehyun sighed, leaning into Beomgyu as well. Beomgyu’s sad tone was affecting him too. “Me too.”
Neither of them said anything for a moment. Taehyun’s brain was fuzzy now: fuzzy from how close Beomgyu was, how much warmth he radiated, and also the alcohol which was now beginning to affect him. He wrapped his arm around Beomgyu, bringing him closer to his side.
“Remember when we went to Lotte World for a date?” Taehyun asked quietly. “We were still in uni, but I managed to scrape together enough money to pay for tickets. I used up my monthly salary from my part-time job for it.”
Beomgyu laughed. “I loved it a lot, though, so it was worth it, right?”
Taehyun smiled. “It’s always worth it if it’s you.”
“We wore matching headbands,” Beomgyu reminisced. “You tried to get me to wear a devil headband with you, but I ended up wearing an angel one instead.” He laughed. “You complained the whole time, saying we weren’t ‘truly’ matching.”
“Okay, but you did look adorable,” Taehyun admitted. “It suited you.”
Beomgyu wriggled appreciatively, giggling. Taehyun chuckled, rubbing Beomgyu’s arm.
There was silence once more. Both of them were thinking about the past, and if Beomgyu were sober, he would have laughed at the irony of it all: he’d gotten drunk to prevent this from happening, and yet here they were, reminiscing on the happy times they used to spend together.
The room oddly felt five degrees hotter. Beomgyu could feel where Taehyun’s fingers rubbed against the fabric of his shirt, could feel his ears heating up at their closeness. Although he’d been the one to lean into Taehyun first, he suddenly felt like he needed to get away. Everything was too warm. He looked down at Taehyun’s empty mug on the coffee table, and leaped at it.
“Taehyun, d’you want more wine?”
Before Taehyun could respond, Beomgyu was sweeping aside the empty wine bottles and picking up the half-full one, pouring it into Taehyun’s mug. He poured the rest of it into his own, draining the bottle and slamming it down on the coffee table with a loud clang. Taehyun blinked at his mug of wine, before shrugging and gulping it down. He rolled the dark taste on his tongue, licking the faintly sweet taste from his lips.
“You know, I think we’re the only people who would drink bottles and bottles of wine to get drunk instead of beer or cider,” Taehyun chuckled as Beomgyu chugged his wine.
Beomgyu looked at him, grinning. “It’s our thing, isn’t it? Even when we were broke, we still had wine.”
Taehyun leaned back against Beomgyu’s sofa cushions, nodding. He tilted his head while gazing at Beomgyu, who in his eyes looked even more devastatingly beautiful than normal. Sitting up again, he leaned forward and cupped Beomgyu’s cheek, fiddling with a few strands of his hair.
“Why are you so pretty?” he murmured. “I miss being able to see you up close,” Taehyun continued, staring at Beomgyu intently. The alcohol made his eyesight a little fuzzy, but he could still see Beomgyu clearly. “I missed you so much.”
Beomgyu didn’t say anything, flustered by Taehyun’s gaze.
“I know you did,” he blurted out. “You told me too many times.”
Taehyun blinked, a little slow. “Oh… did I? I’m sorry.” He leaned back, putting distance between them. “I…didn’t know.”
Beomgyu watched him move away until he was sitting stiffly beside him. “Wait, I didn’t mean it as a bad thing.” He tapped his head, chuckling. “This thing is a little dumb. I just meant you told me a lot. I didn’t mean I didn’t like it.”
Taehyun looked up at that, eyes bright. “So…it’s okay for me to tell you I missed you?”
Beomgyu nodded. “Yeah.”
Taehyun smiled, and Beomgyu smiled back. They stared at each other for a little longer before simultaneously looking away, both of their cheeks pink. And not just because of the alcohol.
There was silence then, silence that was too warm and too stifling for Beomgyu's drunk self to handle. And as it grew longer, both avoiding the other’s gaze, it grew too uncomfortable, and he didn't like it. And because he was drunk—drunk from the alcohol and from Taehyun's presence: Taehyun's wonderful, comfortable, familiar presence—he surged forward and decided to end the uncomfortableness in the one way he thought would be a good idea.
Beomgyu leaned over and kissed him.
Taehyun responded immediately as if he’d been waiting for Beomgyu to move, arms wrapping around Beomgyu’s waist. Beomgyu let out a small noise as he was pulled even closer to Taehyun, smashing their lips together with more force.
It was a passionate, clumsy kiss: it’d been a long time since they’d kissed each other, after all, and they were a little uncoordinated. Teeth clashed and noses bumped as they scrambled to find a comfortable position, yet not once did their lips part, as if they were afraid to let the other go. Beomgyu wrapped his arms around Taehyun’s neck, Taehyun tightened his arms around Beomgyu’s waist, and even when they lost balance and Taehyun landed on top of him on the sofa, they continued to kiss, letting out soft noises whenever they accidentally bumped each other.
It was a kiss full of nibbled lips and teasing tongues and tight embraces and soft whines, but it was a kiss of love and longing and sadness and happiness all at once. Beomgyu felt as if he was holding back tears as one of Taehyun’s hands moved to cradle his head, lifting him upright. Taehyun was so gentle, so soft with his actions, even while they were desperately kissing each other. Beomgyu’s hands slid down to grip the fabric of Taehyun’s sweater, bunching the material between his fingers as he kissed him harder, not able to get enough.
Taehyun’s scent overwhelmed him, making him light-headed and dizzy, but it felt wonderful at the same time. Having gone so long without having any form of Taehyun, to suddenly feel him, see him, smell him and taste him made Beomgyu’s heart ache from how wonderful it was.
They kissed for too long and not long enough, and when Taehyun nibbled on his bottom lip before pulling away slightly to breathe, Beomgyu trailed downwards, gently pressing open-mouthed kisses to Taehyun’s neck.
“Taehyun…” he murmured, and Taehyun lifted his chin to kiss his mouth again. “Taehyun, I—”
His words were cut off with his own gasp when Taehyun pulled him into his lap, hands wrapping more securely around his waist. He felt like he belonged in Taehyun’s arms. Like he found where he was meant to be.
But it made a question arise in his mind.
“Taehyun,” Beomgyu managed to mumble between kisses. “Why did you leave me?”
..。:・❅゜✿
“Why did you leave me?”
Taehyun’s mind was hazy, intoxicated both literally and by Beomgyu’s sweet presence, but those words brought him crashing back down to icy reality. The fog cleared from his head and he pulled away, making Beomgyu whine and try to lean in for another kiss.
“Hyung, wait—”
Beomgyu seemed to get the message, sitting still in Taehyun’s lap. “Why did you leave me, Taehyun?” he repeated. Suddenly, he began to tear up, eyes welling up with liquid. “You left me, four years ago, then suddenly you’re back and I want to know why. You tell me you missed me so much, you kiss me like you love me, but if you loved me then why would you leave?”
Taehyun had forgotten Beomgyu was completely drunk. Beomgyu started sniffling, loudly, rubbing his eyes.
“And you won’t tell me!” His voice was rising into a wail now, sobbing. “You—you leave, then you come back, but you won’t tell me wh—why you left in the fi—irst place!”
“Hyung please, you know I don’t think we’re ready—”
“Was I not good enough for you?” Beomgyu looked at him through teary eyes. “Tell me why you left! I promise, if it was me, I’ll change! I’ll change for you! Just please, don’t leave again…”
Taehyun startled, feeling tears prickle the corners of his own eyes. He’d had no idea Beomgyu was thinking those things. He’d forgotten, stupidly, that Beomgyu was a terrible overthinker. He never told Beomgyu why he left, so of course Beomgyu would start overthinking it all. Seeing Beomgyu crying and begging Taehyun not to leave again hurt a lot, and Taehyun melted, cupping Beomgyu’s cheeks.
“It’s not your fault,” Taehyun reassured. “I promise, it wasn’t you.”
“Can you tell me why you left, then?” Beomgyu hiccupped, leaning into Taehyun’s touch.
“I… can’t,” Taehyun sighed. “Not right now. You’re drunk, hyung.”
“Tell me later, then,” Beomgyu pleaded, grabbing Taehyun’s hands. “Please.”
Taehyun hesitated, before nodding. “I will.” Beomgyu relaxed, smiling even as tears dripped down his face. Taehyun released Beomgyu’s cheeks, wrapping an arm around his waist and looping the other under his legs. “But come on, hyung. We should get you to sleep.”
Beomgyu made a noise of protest when he was lifted up, huddling into Taehyun’s chest. “Don’t wanna sleep.”
“Yes you do,” Taehyun said. “You should sleep. You’re sleepy, aren’t you?”
“‘M not,” Beomgyu denied as Taehyun carried him upstairs. Taehyun was a little uncoordinated due to the wine, but he managed. Soon, Beomgyu was lying in his bed, protesting as Taehyun pulled the covers over him.
“But you’re already in bed, aren’t you?” Taehyun said. “So you should sleep. Come on, hyung. It’s really late.”
Beomgyu sighed. “Fine.” Taehyun nodded, satisfied. He stood up before Beomgyu grabbed onto his fingers.
“Can you sleep with me?” Beomgyu asked quietly. He looked up at Taehyun through droopy eyes, irises dark in the dim light of his room. He looked so vulnerable, face slightly flushed and lips still kiss-swollen, eyes fluttering uncertainly. His grip tightened on Taehyun’s fingers. “Don’t want you to leave me again.”
Taehyun looked down at him, heart squeezing at his small words, before sighing and giving in. “Move over.”
Beomgyu beamed sleepily, wriggling over to make room for Taehyun. Once they were settled in Beomgyu’s bed, Beomgyu shuffled closer to lie his head on Taehyun’s chest, humming happily.
“I can hear your heartbeat…” he said drowsily. “You’re alive, Taehyun.”
“I know that,” Taehyun replied, gently manoeuvring so he could wrap his arm around Beomgyu’s shoulders.
“You’re alive, and you’re here,” Beomgyu murmured, eyes closer. “Please don’t leave me again, Taehyun. I don’t know what I’d do if you left me.” He nuzzled his head into Taehyun’s jumper. “I love you.” He shuffled around a little before letting out a soft sigh, breathing evening out. He was asleep.
Taehyun lay awake for a little longer, Beomgyu’s quiet words echoing in his brain.
..。:・❅゜✿
Beomgyu awoke the next morning alone. He groaned, rubbing his forehead as he sat up, peeling away the covers which had tangled around him in his sleep.
“I’m not going to drink alcohol ever again,” he muttered, pinching his nose and taking deep breaths.
Once his vision had cleared somewhat, he winced at the pain in his skull, gingerly getting out of bed. His mind was hazy, but he was sure he hadn’t fallen asleep alone. He opened the curtains, disappointed that Taehyun had left. Or… maybe he was downstairs?
Beomgyu made his way downstairs, where he was once again disappointed, since Taehyun was gone. He’d cleaned up the mess they’d made, at least, and when he peered into his kitchen he found his presents neatly placed on the counter. Walking up to them, he smiled a little when he saw a note, along with some medicine and cold hangover soup waiting to be heated up.
Beomgyu chuckled, pleased, putting the bowl in the microwave to heat up. But then he picked up the note, and his smile faded.
Hey,
Sorry for leaving while you were still asleep. I was worried that you might be shocked if you woke up next to me in the morning, ‘cause you were pretty drunk last night. I wasn’t sure if you remembered how we ended up like that.
Call me when you wake up, please? You probably don’t remember much, but you did beg me to tell you why I left you, several times. So I… I wanted to tell you. I know you might not remember, but I do, and you sounded so genuinely upset and I knew that, behind the haze of alcohol, it really was you talking. So I think we’re ready now.
Let me know when you’re ready to talk.
Taehyun x
Beomgyu stared at the note, even as the microwave started beeping loudly. He’d done what?
His memories were hazy. His head was pounding like mad, making it difficult to focus, but he did remember that everything Taehyun had written was correct. He remembered crying all over Taehyun. He remembered making out with him too.
Beomgyu blushed, going to take his soup out of the microwave. He should call Taehyun. He really did want to know why Taehyun left him all those years ago. Even though he’d tried to tell himself he was fine with not knowing, he really did want to know. So sipping his soup, he put his phone on speaker and dialled Taehyun’s number.
It seemed that Taehyun expected it, because he picked up right away.
“Good morning, hyung. How’s your head?”
“Hurts like hell, thanks for asking,” Beomgyu said a little croakily.
“Oh dear. Did you see the soup I made you? It might be a bit cold, sorry.”
“Yeah, I saw it. Thanks by the way.”
“No problem.”
Beomgyu drank his soup, waiting for Taehyun to continue.
“I guess that means you saw my note as well,” Taehyun said. “Is there any time you want to meet up?”
“Any time, really,” Beomgyu replied. He tried to keep his voice as normal as possible. “Maybe sometime today, though. I’d like this to be done as soon as we can.”
“Of course. Come over to my apartment whenever you’re ready, then. I’ll be waiting for you.”
“See you then.”
Beomgyu lifted a hand to end the call. He was trembling. They were opening the box, at last. Beomgyu had handed his key to Taehyun, and soon he’d be opening the box and they’d be addressing all of the memories that had been locked away.
He was, oddly, excited. He was filled with anticipation, not out of happiness, but out of relief that his most burning questions were finally getting answered. It was like they were about to open Pandora’s box.
He just hoped their box wouldn’t have the same negative effects as the myth’s entailed.
..。:・❅゜✿
Taehyun was not excited. He was shaking with nervousness. He thought that he was prepared for this, but in truth, he wasn’t. He didn’t think they were ready.
Taehyun rubbed his forehead, checking his phone for the nth time. It was late afternoon, and it had been mere minutes since Beomgyu had texted him a cute ‘I’m on my way :D’. Taehyun could literally feel the excitement radiating from the emoticon. He smiled a little, endeared by Beomgyu even through his nervousness, before setting his phone down.
They would never be ready, really. There was no way to prepare for what they were about to do. There was no way to prepare for all the hurt, the pain, the regret and guilt and anger that would spring out of the box that he and Beomgyu had made. Taehyun knew that they couldn’t prepare for that. No one would ever be ready for such an onslaught of emotions.
No amount of waiting could make them ready for this. But it had to be done, Taehyun decided, trying to calm his nerves. If they wanted to mend, truly mend, then they had to address the cracks at the very heart of their foundation.
Taehyun’s doorbell rang, and he stood up to open the door for Beomgyu. He had no idea how their conversation would go. But however it went, he hoped that he wouldn’t lose his hyung at the end of it.
“Hello.”
Beomgyu smiled. “Hello.”
“Would you like to come in?” Taehyun stepped to the side, and Beomgyu gratefully entered, taking off his shoes and letting Taehyun hang his coat. “Unfortunately, I don’t have an abundant amount of coffee like you do, but I do have some tea.”
“I’d love tea,” Beomgyu said. “Chamomile, I presume?”
Taehyun smiled. “Just for you, of course.”
“I apologise for what happened last night,” Beomgyu said, following Taehyun into the kitchen. “I didn’t mean to get emotionally drunk all over you.”
Taehyun chuckled. “I know how to deal with your drunk self, hyung. It’s fine.” He glanced at Beomgyu, pouring out the tea. “How are you feeling? Is your head still hurting?”
“I’m fine,” Beomgyu said, accepting the tea. “Thank you.”
“Let’s go sit on the sofa,” Taehyun offered. “It’ll be more comfortable.”
They sat in Taehyun’s living room, Beomgyu quietly sipping his tea. They didn’t say anything. They hadn’t been swallowed by awkward silence in so long, and Taehyun could see the way Beomgyu was practically vibrating, obviously trying to hide his anticipation. Taehyun squashed his hands under his thighs so Beomgyu wouldn’t see them trembling.
Beomgyu looked at Taehyun, and Taehyun stared back. They looked at each other for a moment, before Beomgyu sighed.
“Okay, let’s drop this polite talk,” he said. “You know why I’m here.”
Taehyun nodded, biting his lips. “You know why you’re here too.”
“Yes.” Beomgyu took a sip of tea. “I understand that you were reluctant to talk about it in the first place, and I respect that. But you directly offered to tell me, and I want you to know that I’ve really wanted to find out why you left me. Please say you’re backing out now.”
There was no harshness in his tone, despite how his words could be perceived. Beomgyu looked at Taehyun, his eyes glowing in the late afternoon light, pure and bright and clear. He just wanted to know the truth.
Taehyun tried to calm his heartbeat. “Sorry. I’m not backing out, it’s just… I don’t know how to start talking about it.”
Beomgyu smiled reassuringly. “Take your time.”
Taehyun clenched his hands under his legs, trying to calm himself. “Before I tell you, I just want you to know that I did it out of love. I did everything that I did because I loved you so, so much. Please try to understand why I did what I did, and that it was because I loved you too much to want you to suffer.”
Beomgyu didn’t say anything, then nodded. “Alright.”
Taehyun smiled shakily. “Thank you.” He took a deep breath, and then began to speak.
..。:・❅゜✿
“You have to admit, our relationship started to become a little shaky five months before we broke up.”
Beomgyu nodded. He could admit that. They’d started having little spats all the time.
“Hyung, please, leave me alone.”
“Taehyunnie, come on! You’re not even doing anything right now, why can’t I hug you?” Beomgyu pouted. He tried to hold onto Taehyun’s wrist, but Taehyun pulled away.
“I said leave me alone,” Taehyun snapped. “Why can’t you understand that?”
Beomgyu blinked at the lack of honorifics, stepping away from his boyfriend. “Damn, okay. I’m sorry. Let me know when you’re ready for me to be with you, okay?”
Taehyun sighed, turning back to his work. But then he glanced at Beomgyu, who looked hurt, and his face immediately softened. “Wait, hyung, I’m sorry.”
Beomgyu just rolled his eyes, turning away. “Sure. I’ll leave you alone now.”
Taehyun watched him leave but didn’t say anything, a worried look on his face.
“I didn’t know how to tell you, and I guess that’s a fault on my part,” Taehyun said. “But I didn’t want to tell you because I knew how worried you’d be.”
“What didn’t you tell me?” Beomgyu asked.
Taehyun clenched his hands tighter. “Remember my birthday? About two months before the breakup? The way I was acting?”
“Wow, my Taehyunnie is getting one year older! How old are you now? Fifty?” Beomgyu joked, swinging their hands as they walked through the streets. “I should treat you to something, shouldn’t I? Since I’m your boyfriend and your senior.”
Taehyun chuckled, squeezing Beomgyu’s hand affectionately. “If I’m fifty, then you must be sixty,” he teased. “You’re older than me, after all.” Before Beomgyu could retort, he grinned and kissed his boyfriend’s cheek. “But I would very much like that treat, hyung. Thank you.”
Beomgyu, previously swelling with outrage, rapidly deflated when Taehyun’s lips touched his cheek. He smiled. “Of course, anything for my snowflake! Do you want a physical gift? Money? Food? I’ll get you anything you want.”
“Hmm… a Lamborghini?” Taehyun suggested, laughing at the way Beomgyu’s face fell comically. “I’m joking, hyung. I don’t need a car. Why would I, when I can take walks like this with you?”
Beomgyu smiled, bumping shoulders with Taehyun. “Aw, you’re such a softie.”
“Only for you, hyung,” Taehyun teased. Beomgyu chuckled.
“As long as it’s me.”
They smiled at each other, eyes crinkling and lips turned upwards, until someone suddenly collided shoulders with Taehyun on the busy street, making him stumble.
“Ow—”
“Taehyun, are you okay?” Beomgyu asked, immediately reaching forward to steady his boyfriend.
“Watch where you’re going, idiot,” the stranger hissed, glaring at them. He noticed Taehyun and Beomgyu’s intertwined hands, eyes narrowing. “Stupid twink.”
Beomgyu immediately puffed up with anger, stopping in the middle of the street to stalk back towards the man. “Don’t you dare belittle my boyfriend like that.”
The stranger tried to walk away, rolling his eyes. “Geez, I wasn’t belittling your little boytoy. No need to get so annoyed.”
Beomgyu tightened his grip on Taehyun’s hand, pulling him behind him. Taehyun simply blinked a little dazedly, watching with unfocused eyes as Beomgyu continued to glare at the man who’d bumped into Taehyun.
“Oh my god, I get it, I get it okay?” the stranger said in frustration. “Damn, this is why gay men shouldn’t be allowed to do the same stuff normal people do. You guys are crazy.”
Beomgyu growled. “Say that to my face, jerk!”
But the guy simply faded back into the crowd. Beomgyu, still holding Taehyun’s hand, decided not to pursue the man in favour of turning back to his boyfriend.
“Sorry about that Tyun, the guy was being a jerk.”
Taehyun didn’t say anything. His gaze was unfocused, in the same way it was when he zoned out. Only it seemed more intense, like he couldn’t zone back in again.
“Taehyun?” Beomgyu said, squeezing Taehyun’s hand lightly. “Darling? You okay?”
With some difficulty, Taehyun blinked, dragging his gaze to Beomgyu. It took a moment, but his lips stretched into a smile.
“Sure,” he said, but his voice sounded far away and distant. “Cool.”
“I wasn’t sure what was wrong,” Beomgyu said. “You didn’t want to talk about it.”
“It wasn’t the first time it had happened. My birthday was the day when it was most severe, though: normally it only happened once or twice a week.”
“"It" happened?” Beomgyu questioned. "What's "it"?"
Taehyun took a deep breath. “My depersonalisation episodes.”
Beomgyu’s eyes widened.
Taehyun looked down at his phone, biting his lips nervously. Here he was, sitting in the psychiatric clinic at the hospital, waiting for his name to be called. No one knew he was here. Not his parents, his sister, or even Beomgyu. No one.
"Kang Taehyun?"
Taehyun looked up at his name being called. The doctor smiled.
"Come right this way, please."
Taehyun entered the doctor's room, sitting down in the chair that was offered to him.
"Hello Kang-ssi, my name is Doctor Lee and I'm the psychiatrist that will be helping you today," Dr. Lee said as she brought up Taehyun's medical history. "You have been referred here by your General Practitioner, correct?"
Taehyun nodded.
"Right, right. I believe you asked to be referred as well, is that right?"
He nodded again.
"Okay. Well, your medical report seems perfectly normal to me." She turned to look at Taehyun. "In which case, how can I help you?"
Taehyun opened and closed his mouth several times, but no words came out. His throat was horribly dry.
"I think I have a depersonalisation disorder."
Dr. Lee didn't even bat an eye, and just nodded. "Alright. Has your GP been the one to give you the informal diagnosis?"
Taehyun shook his head. "I found out about it online. I've been having… episodes… like what was described, so I asked them to refer me to a psychiatrist. Is that… okay?"
"That's perfectly fine," Dr. Lee said. "Can I ask, have you discussed this with anyone? Is anyone else aware of the concerns you have?"
Taehyun shook his head.
"No one?"
"No one."
Dr. Lee didn't say anything for a moment, before turning to her desk and flipping to a new page in her notebook then turning back to Taehyun, pen in hand. "Would you like to describe your experiences that led you to your conclusion?"
The diagnosis didn't take long. Taehyun walked home with the heavy weight of his new knowledge on his shoulders, collapsing onto the sofa.
He was mentally ill. He has a mental illness. What was he going to do? Dr. Lee had been very kind, advising him on the next steps, booking him his next psychiatrist appointment, describing meditation therapy and how long approximately it took patients to heal. She'd given him lots of help.
But—oh god. Taehyun lifted his head. What about Beomgyu?
Taehyun curled in on himself, terrified. He was meant to be the strong one, and now he was broken. He had always felt like he had a need to protect Beomgyu: it was like how Beomgyu had a need to protect him. They'd always taken care of each other, after all.
But how was Taehyun meant to take care of Beomgyu now? He didn't want Beomgyu to worry about him. He didn't want to be a burden to Beomgyu. He was meant to care for Beomgyu and make sure he didn't worry, after all. What was he going to do?
It took several days and hours of pondering, but Taehyun came to the conclusion that he should break up with Beomgyu. His episodes were becoming more and more frequent, and Beomgyu was beginning to notice. He needed to put space between himself and Beomgyu, fast, before Beomgyu found out and began to worry himself into the ground about Taehyun.
Beomgyu shouldn't have to worry about Taehyun, after all. Sick, poor, little Taehyun. Not when he had his own life and his own problems. It would be best for the both of them, Taehyun decided: Beomgyu wouldn't have to worry about him, and he wouldn't have to worry about Beomgyu.
The thought of breaking up with Beomgyu hurt him immensely. Taehyun had never been glad of his depersonalisation disorder until it had suddenly come over him when Beomgyu blinked up at him, begging Taehyun not to leave.
"Taehyunnie, please—please don't leave," Beomgyu begged. "I don't know what I did wrong, but please don't leave."
Taehyun very nearly caved to Beomgyu's watery eyes. He looked so desperate, saddened and heartbroken, that Taehyun almost told him he didn't mean it. But then he flinched as the world around him greyed, a muffled layer covering the landscape. Beomgyu's words barely reached his ears.
"Don't leave," Beomgyu said. "You didn't mean it, did you? Please, don't leave."
Taehyun seemed to float out of his body, watching as his emotionless self tried to console Beomgyu.
"It's for the best," he said, smiling gently. "I'm sorry. I hope we meet each other again."
"Why are you doing this? I don't want to do this, and I know, I know you don't want to either. Just tell me what's wrong, please."
Taehyun shook his head. "It's better this way." He watched, as if his soul was removed from his body, as he stepped away from Beomgyu. "I have to do this. For us."
Taehyun watched, powerless to do anything, feeling as if his arms were made of rubber as he pushed Beomgyu down into the sofa, murmuring apologies before walking out of the front door. It was like he was being controlled by someone other than himself, like he was a puppet with his strings being pulled by someone else.
Once he was in his new apartment that he'd bought mere days ago, all of his stuff he'd taken from their old house lying in boxes around him, his strings finally cut and he collapsed back into his body, falling to the floor.
He hated what he'd done. He didn't want to part from Beomgyu.
But it was for the best, he told himself. It was better if Beomgyu didn't have to worry about him. He did the right thing.
So Taehyun continued to distance himself from Beomgyu, telling himself continuously that he did the right thing. Even though he hated it, he believed he made the right choice.
..。:・❅゜✿
Beomgyu stood up from the sofa, outraged. “Seriously, Taehyun? Are you kidding me? You’re joking right now, right?”
“What? No,” Taehyun denied, rising. “I hated every second, but I did it because I thought it was what was right.”
Snow was beginning to fall outside. Soft and white and cold, covering the land so prettily with its unwanted flakes. It looked beautiful, but its good intentions were clouded by the harm that it brought the small spring flowers.
“What was right? Why didn’t you consider that I might have wanted to help you?” Beomgyu said. “I would have been more than willing to take care of you, if only you’d told me.”
“I didn’t think it was a good idea to tell you,” Taehyun explained. “Hyung, you were taking care of a really important presentation at the time, the one which you said would help you get promoted. And what would happen after the promotion? More presentations. More projects. More things which would be more important than looking after sick me.”
Beomgyu was shaking his head before Taehyun finished. “You don’t get to make that decision for me. You meant more to me than any stupid promotion.”
“Hyung,” Taehyun pleaded. “You have to understand, if I was worried about the way you would be worrying about me, it would just make me worse.”
Beomgyu shook his head. "Really? You pushed me away to protect yourself?" He scoffed. "Why didn't you give me the choice to stay? I could have helped you. I loved you, Taehyun."
Taehyun swallowed. "Loved? You loved me? What… what about now?"
Beomgyu breathed in, blinking rapidly. Tears were building in his eyes, hot and uncomfortable and he hated it. He hated crying. Beomgyu looked at Taehyun standing there, fingers intertwined nervously.
"I don't know," Beomgyu said finally. "You left me, Taehyun. You broke me. I'm not sure if I love you anymore." He closed his eyes before suddenly snapping them open again. “No, wait, that’s a lie. I still do love you. Even after all that’s happened, even after all that I had to go through, I still love you.”
Taehyun looked away. They didn’t say anything, silence too stifling and too thick.
“So… what do you think we should do?” Taehyun asked, voice small.
“I’m not sure we can do anything,” Beomgyu said. “I appreciate that you finally told me why you left me all those years ago. But you have to admit that it sounds like the plot of some stupid kdrama, doesn’t it?”
Taehyun grimaced. “I understand that my actions were stupid, now. I’m sorry for the unnecessary hurt I put you through.”
“I appreciate that you understand that,” Beomgyu said. He looked at Taehyun, before looking away, chuckling drily. “God, I don’t know why we ever thought about being together.”
Taehyun’s eyes widened at that. “Wait, what do you mean?”
“I think we really shouldn’t see each other anymore,” Beomgyu explained. “I mean, the whole ‘friends’ thing felt so awkward, and you even broke up with me for four years. I’m not sure we’re meant to be together.”
“I… I don’t understand what you mean.”
"We were never going to work out anyway," Beomgyu explained. "We're too different. We're like spring and winter, with nothing in common."
"So, what, you're giving up on us?" Taehyun said. He stepped forward. "You're giving up on all those days we spent together? All the laughs, the tears, the happiness? You're giving up on it all?"
"We were never meant to meet," Beomgyu sighed. "You're the snowflake, delicate and beautiful, a product of winter. I'm like my cherry blossoms, small and frail and only able to survive in spring. We shouldn't have ever met."
"So? That doesn't mean that the snow cannot fall in spring. We’ve acknowledged our differences before, and we even embraced them. I was your snowflake, and you were my blossom hyung, weren’t you?” Taehyun pleaded. “Beomgyu hyung—" He reached for Beomgyu's hand, desperate. "Don't give up on us. Please."
Beomgyu smiled sadly, extricating his hand from Taehyun's grip. "You gave up on us first."
“No, I never gave up,” Taehyun denied. “Never.”
“Then why did you leave, Taehyun? You can’t say that you didn’t give up on us if you tore us apart,” Beomgyu said, voice cracking.
“I might have left, but I didn’t give up,” Taehyun said, voice also trembling. “I still loved you. I still do, hyung. Really, I do.”
Beomgyu shook his head. “So do I,” he whispered. “But I don’t think we should keep meeting. We’ll only end up hurting each other more.” Beomgyu took a deep breath. “I’ll get going now.”
He tried to step away, but Taehyun’s fingers brushed over his hand, holding him in place. He looked at Beomgyu, eyes glistening with cold crystals. He looked like he’d fall apart at any moment.
“Please don’t leave,” Taehyun begged.
As they stood there, Taehyun's trembling fingers holding onto Beomgyu's equally shaky wrist, Beomgyu realised that the both of them were fragile.
Taehyun acted strong, like he was all icy shards and pointy edges, but in reality he was as delicate and small as a snowflake. He could be easily blown away. He could be easily crushed.
Beomgyu was no better. He looked untouchable, beautiful, whole. Like his cherry blossoms. But one wrong gust of wind could have his petals ripped away from him. One wrong move, and he'd come crumbling down like the fragile structure he was.
He couldn’t afford to be exposed to anything that could hurt him. Even if he loved them a lot.
Beomgyu released Taehyun’s fingers from around his wrist. “I’m sorry.” And with a few quick steps, he was gone.
The slamming of the door echoed throughout Taehyun’s apartment. The apartment, which was more of an accommodation than a home. A place which Taehyun had refused to make a home, not when his real home was far away.
The sound echoed hollowly, bouncing off the undecorated walls, reverberating throughout the shell of a home. Taehyun had stood there as Beomgyu swiftly put on his coat and shoes, not even moving to try and stop Beomgyu. He was too numb to do anything. Taehyun sat down, knees too weak to hold him upright. He slowly buried his head into his hands, tears spilling out of the corners of his closed eyes.
Outside, as Beomgyu walked down the street, he pulled his hood up. The snow had turned to hail.
..。:・❅゜✿
Taehyun was miserable. Completely and utterly miserable.
Beomgyu refused to talk to him. He didn’t answer Taehyun’s texts, or his calls, and after the first few days Taehyun had given up, accepting that Beomgyu didn’t want anything to do with him.
He felt hollow. Like the emotions had been drained out of him. Beomgyu carried his life: Beomgyu carried the spark which brought the vibrancy to Taehyun’s actions. Now he was gone, and Taehyun was empty.
Well, he supposed the good thing was that Beomgyu had to be doing better than him. He’d wanted this, after all. As long as Beomgyu was happy, Taehyun decided. As long as his blossom hyung was happy.
Beomgyu was not happy.
He couldn’t stop thinking about Taehyun. About what he’d done, and how he’d left him. Beomgyu wanted to yell at him for thinking so stupidly, but honestly? If he were in Taehyun’s place, he would have done the same thing. They used to joke that they were young and stupidly in love during the first few months of their relationship, but Beomgyu realised they’d been like that throughout the whole time they were dating. They’d been so ridiculously in love that they did anything for each other. They’d been clumsy and fumbling and a little confused with navigating their relationship.
Beomgyu sighed, waiting outside the dog cafe. He really needed to stop thinking about Taehyun. Especially since they’d formally ended things. (Rather, Beomgyu cut ties and Taehyun accepted that Beomgyu didn’t want anything to do with him.) It was convenient that Yeonjun had provided him with a distraction, even if it was just for one day: lunch at the dog cafe.
And while it was quite ironic that he was trying to forget about Taehyun in the place that he’d visited for the first time with Taehyun, Beomgyu was determined not to think about him anymore.
Until Taehyun walked right up to him.
Neither of them said anything for a moment, standing awkwardly outside the cafe. Taehyun glanced at Beomgyu, and Beomgyu glanced at Taehyun, before they both quickly looked away.
“So…” Taehyun said finally, clearing his throat. “What brings you here?”
“Yeonjun hyung,” Beomgyu replied shortly. “We’re going to have lunch together.”
A beat.
Then Taehyun sighed, giving a sarcastic chuckle. “Oh, that trickster hyung.”
Beomgyu looked at him. “What?”
“I’m meant to be having lunch with hyung too.”
“...Oh.”
“He set us up,” Taehyun sighed. “He told both of us he wanted to have lunch with us, separately, and then ditched us at the last minute. So we’d talk with each other.”
Beomgyu sighed. “Was it you? Did you tell him?”
Taehyun shook his head. “I haven’t spoken to anyone since you came over to my apartment.”
There was silence. They were horribly awkward in each other’s presence.
“Maybe I should go home then—”
“Since we’re here hyung, can we talk—”
They talked at the same time, making both of them cut their sentences off abruptly.
“Oh, sorry, you should go home then—”
“Do you really want to talk—”
They paused.
“Can we talk hyung, please?” Taehyun asked.
“I’m not really sure…” Beomgyu hunched his shoulders, looking away from Taehyun’s pleading eyes.
“Please, hyung, I want to talk to you. Even if it’s for the last time, seeing as you’re content with cutting ties with me. Please.”
The weather had finally taken a spring-like turn lately, with the sun shining in the way it ought to in March. Taehyun looked like he was glowing, sparkling in the spring sunlight. How could Beomgyu say no when he looked like that?
“Fine. Lead the way.”
Taehyun brightened with relief, opening the door for Beomgyu to step inside. Instead of going to a table, however, he sat down on the floor with the dogs, so after a beat Beomgyu followed. There was a less tense silence then, as they played with the animals.
“So I guess Yeonjun hyung knew why you left?” Beomgyu said quietly. “He knew before me, didn’t he?”
Taehyun didn’t say anything. He nodded. “Our friends knew about a week before you did.”
Beomgyu sighed. “Why was I the last to know?”
Taehyun looked up at him. “Because I wanted to take the most time to explain it to you. I didn’t want you to misunderstand. I didn’t want to lose you.” He chuckled softly, looking away. “But I ended up losing you anyway, didn’t I?”
Beomgyu flinched.
Silence descended. If Taehyun was being completely honest, he was nervous. This was an unplanned visit (on their part, not on Yeonjun’s) so he didn’t know what to say to Beomgyu. All he knew was that he didn’t want Beomgyu to leave. During the mere seconds they’d been in each other’s presence, Taehyun instantly felt more alive. He didn’t want to lose someone so dear to him, so he was clinging onto him for as long as he could. Until he’d have to let go again.
Beomgyu looked up after the prolonged silence, watching Taehyun bury his face into the retriever’s fur. “Uh, Taehyun, if we don’t have anything to say, should I leave…?”
“Please don’t leave,” Taehyun said quickly, looking up. Beomgyu blinked, surprised to see that Taehyun was… crying.
He’d had his face hidden by the dog’s fur so that Beomgyu wouldn’t see the tears building up, but now they dripped down his face, reddening his eyes and muffling his words. And still, he looked so beautiful to Beomgyu.
“Please don’t leave me,” Taehyun begged. “I know I hurt you a lot. I didn’t mean to, but I hurt you all the same and there’s no excuse I can provide for that. I know I handled everything wrongly but I hope that I didn’t damage our relationship.” He sniffed, dragging a hand across his eyes as he gripped the golden retriever tighter for comfort. Beomgyu’s hands fell away from the spaniel he’d been petting, watching with alarm as the tears continued to well in Taehyun’s eyes.
Beomgyu hated crying, but he remembered that he hated seeing Taehyun cry even more.
“I love you hyung,” Taehyun said, hiccupping. “It sounds like a stupid excuse but I do love you. I thought it would be better if you didn’t have to deal with my depersonalisation disorder and the anxiety and the depression and all those other things which could stem from it. I honestly thought I was doing the right thing and I really, really don’t want you to hate me for it.” Taehyun couldn’t even blink away the tears which were permanently blurring his vision. “Don’t leave me, hyung. I don’t know what I’d do if you left me.”
“Oh, Taehyun…” Beomgyu couldn’t take Taehyun’s tears anymore. He was whispering, trembling, hiccupping and crying profusely, and Beomgyu leaned over and held him in his arms, letting Taehyun bury himself into the embrace.
“It sounds so hypocritical of me to say, given the fact that I left you first,” Taehyun sobbed, “and I don’t know how you handled it. Even just the prospect of you leaving me is—I can’t bear to think about it.”
“I think it’s because I held the belief that you’d come back,” Beomgyu said quietly, rubbing Taehyun’s back. “My words sounded like I was leaving forever.”
“Don’t give up on us, hyung,” Taehyun hiccupped. “Don’t abandon us.”
Beomgyu sighed. “But we’re just so different,” he explained softly. “We’ve always loved in an awkward, clashing way. We’re nothing like the picture perfect couples who match perfectly.”
Taehyun shook his head vigorously. “I don’t care about that,” he said, voice muffled. “I just care about you.”
Beomgyu squeezed his eyes shut, failing to stop the emotions overwhelming him at Taehyun’s words. He sounded so genuine. He breathed out softly, burying his head into Taehyun’s shoulder to blot his tears.
“Taehyun…”
“Please,” Taehyun whispered. “Please. I know that I’m the cold from winter and you’re the warmth from spring, but please let me stay with you. I… I don’t know if I can live without you. I don’t have the will to stay away anymore.” He looked up, eyes red and tear tracks glistening on his cheeks. “I’m so sorry, hyung. I know that what I did was wrong, and I should have talked about it instead of immediately doing what I thought was right. But please, don’t leave me. You can keep me at arm’s distance for now, if that’s what you need, but please don’t push me away forever.”
Beomgyu was definitely crying now, voice thick with tears as he replied. “You’re so stupid,” he sobbed. “I can’t believe you abandoned me just because of a mental illness. I could have helped you, but no, you had to leave me.”
“I’m so sorry for what I did,” Taehyun said, voice trembling. “I know my words of apology don’t make up for what I’ve done. I was crass and naive and completely and utterly selfish, but not once did I think that until you confronted me. There’s nothing I can say to excuse what I did. But I didn’t give up on us, hyung, not once. Because I still kept you in my heart.”
“I know why you did what you did, Taehyun,” Beomgyu said. He pulled away, and they both looked at each other—tear-stained, runny-nosed, but in each other’s eyes: beautiful. “It hurt me, I can’t deny it, but I know why you did it. I would have done the same thing, if I were in your place. Because I loved you a lot too.”
Taehyun’s lips quivered. “And… and what about now? Do you still love me now?”
“Do you love me?” Beomgyu asked.
“More than anything,” Taehyun replied instantly, eyes shining with tears and conviction.
Beomgyu choked up again, but tried to swallow his tears. “Good. Because I love you more than anything as well.”
Taehyun’s sobs had only just begun to cease when he burst into tears once again, collapsing into Beomgyu’s embrace. Beomgyu hugged him tightly, crying into Taehyun’s shoulder, both of them holding each other and sobbing into one another’s arms. They were both crying, but they were smiling with relief as well.
“We’re so weird, aren’t we?” Taehyun sniffled, pulling back when his tears died down to give a watery smile to Beomgyu. “Look at us, crying in public.”
“We’re nowhere near perfect,” Beomgyu agreed. He brought a hand up to brush back the stray hairs from Taehyun’s face. “We’re complete and utter opposites, after all.”
“So… what are we now?” Taehyun asked. They were both still sitting on the floor of the dog cafe, the animals milling around them, Taehyun curled in Beomgyu’s lap with their arms around each other. “Are we boyfriends again? Or are we still just friends?”
“I don’t think we need a label,” Beomgyu said. “We can be both. We can be neither. Or you can just be my little snowflake, and I can be your pretty blossom.”
Taehyun smiled, even though it made his swollen eyes feel odd. “My pretty blossom hyung. It’s been a while since I’ve called you that.”
“Same here, snowflake,” Beomgyu smiled.
They leaned forward and rested their foreheads together, grins wide and hearts full of relief. And even though their noses were still runny and their breathing was still shaky from their crying, when they mutually leaned in for a kiss it felt like the most perfect thing in the world.
The snowflake and his blossom. The blossom and his snowflake. Two contrasting beings who should have never met, and yet managed to share a love with one another. A love which was difficult to navigate, which was messy and fumbling but oh so strong.
They were so different, and yet they worked. They didn’t spend hours lamenting on their differences, and just decided to love each other so intensely that those differences blurred together until you couldn’t tell the spring and the winter apart.
They were still delicate. Fragile, fleeting things, easily swayed and easily broken. But they held on. They held onto each other, and together they were stronger than if they were alone. Beomgyu and Taehyun were different in countless ways, but when they were together it was like those differences disappeared.
Because maybe, spring and winter weren’t so different after all.
The young queen sat on her throne with her legs crossed while she did her duties of solving diverse problems amongst the subjects of her kingdom. Her facial expression would seem solemn with a glance. But if you looked into her eyes, you would perceive the anguish she hid. The sadness establishing because of the disgrace of being an unwedded queen. Only a few cared about this because she was a great queen unaccompanied. She had all the queenly qualities such as generosity, intelligence, hardworking and more. Despite that, it still bothered her. She longed to have someone by her side. It wasn’t like nobody wanted to marry her. It was quite the contrary. Many princes and kings were craving to marry her. But there was one similarity that they all shared. They didn’t truly love her. They only loved the status she possessed. The skies of dusk faded into night, signaling her duties finishing for the day. She sat up from her throne and walked towards her chamber with two of her guards escorting her.
━━━━━━━༺۵༻━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━༺۵༻━━━━━━━
When she set her foot inside her room, the maids that were assigned to ensure that her room would be clean and cozy when she returned after a long day of work greeted her with warmth. “Oh! Your highness Y/N! We were finishing up fluffing your pillows! Is there anything else you would like us to do before we leave you alone? One maid inquired with a smile.” “No. I’ll be fine.. I’ll inform you if I need anything later,” Y/N replied in a soft tone as she picked up the silk robe and towel that was folded neatly and placed on her bed. The two maids nodded and gathered up their cleaning supplies. “By the way. I hope you enjoy the rose milk bath we prepared for you today!” Y/N’s features lit up when she heard rose milk. She adored roses and had many throughout her kingdom. Especially the pink and red ones. She ran into the bathroom and locked the door. She stripped bare of her clothes and soaked herself inside of the basin that was filled with rose milk and rose petals. Her nostrils drowning in the scent of the roses. One of the best ways to calm your mind and nerves after a long and boring day of work.
After a while of soaking, she felt her skin getting wrinkly, letting her know it’s time to get out. She hopped out of the basin and walked towards the shower, where she washed off the rose milk residue and the flower petals that clung to her skin. As she was showering, she heard a knock on the door. Confused, she quickly dried her skin, tied her robe, and exited the shower. When she exited, she saw the two guards that were tasked to shield her from any threats, standing there, a smirk plastered on both of their faces. Y/N immediately clutched her robe and thought the worst. This little action making one of them offended and the other burst out laughing. “Yah! We will not touch you inappropriately or anything!” The guard, who had a pink rose tucked into his hair, exclaimed, taking major offense. “Well then, don’t smirk like that! You two are lucky I didn’t have proper clothing on or you both would’ve been severely injured.” Y/N argued back. “Well, what we wanted to tell you is there is, there is a full moon outside.” She folded her arms and raised an eyebrow. “Okay, so?” The pink rose guard facepalmed himself and looked at the other guard, who, instead of a pink rose, had a red rose tucked in his hair. “Jung. Wooyoung. Didn’t you tell her about the enchantress?!” Wooyoung looked at Yeonjun with disbelief. “Bro. You told me-Okay, you know what. Forget this. What we’re trying to say is, there is an enchantress who comes out every night of the full moon, she has the powers to grant anything, judging by your saddened expressions, both Yeonjun and I thought you would need to visit her because there is something you want but you can’t get.” Y/N was baffled at how observant they both were. “Wait.. when you say anything. Do you mean ANYTHING? Even if it’s not an item, but…. a person?” Yeonjun nodded. “When he said anything, he meant it.” Y/N looked down, then looked back at Wooyoung and Yeonjun. If this enchantress could grant her greatest desire. She will pay any price.
“Since it’s the night of the full moon? Do you think I could meet her right now?”
━━━━━━━༺۵༻━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━༺۵༻━━━━━━━
“Yeonjun, are you sure we are going the right way?!” Wooyoung questioned, feeling unfamiliar with his surroundings. “It has to be. I’m pretty sure we need to walk further to get to her shack.” Yeonjun responded, making Wooyoung a tad bit consoled. Wooyoung gripped onto his queen’s hands to help her walk through the gloomy forest so he could prevent her from tripping on a random branch or rock. Yeonjun looked back at Y/N and Wooyoung to make sure they were okay. The slight glare of the moon reflected on her face, making Yeonjun distinguish her fright. “Woo, don’t you think it would’ve been less unsettling for all of us if you’d brought a lantern?” A pout appeared on Wooyoung’s face. “Why do you keep blaming me for everything! I try my best, you know?” Yeonjun sighed. “I guess I have to give you that.” They continued walking until they finally approached an old but mysterious-looking shack. Yeonjun was about to open the door but, he got jump scared by a dog ferociously barking at him. “AHHHHHHHH.” He screamed. Wooyoung also screamed, but he acted quickly and pulled out his sword from his belt to protect the queen. “Oh, no need for that. Jinx sit!” a woman commanded the dog. The dog immediately obeyed her commands, earning himself a treat. “Okay, go inside.” She opened the door to her shack. The dog followed and went inside to lie down on his bed. The lady then looked at the three and smiled softly. She had this eerie but sweet look that didn’t fail to make Y/N curious about her. “Oh... Wooyoung and Yeonjun. I see you’ve returned with her.”
“Come in.”
She led them towards a table decorated with many peculiar and pretty-looking items such as skulls, gems of all sorts, a glass orb, and more. She sat down at the back of the table while Y/N sat On the opposite side. Wooyoung and Yeonjun decided it was best if they returned outside to give the two privacy and guard the place because you never know what lurks around at the night. “I never thought I would see a queen in my lifetime... I am indeed honored by your presence, your majesty.” The woman bowed. “Thank you... Uh…” a small smile crept on the woman’s face. “Call me Lucinda. So… your majesty. What May I help you with? Do you want to know about your future? Gain a particular item? Change your physical appearance? Or is it something else?” Y/N gulped, feeling embarrassed to admit it. She tried and explained it in the most secretive way she could think of. “My purpose of coming here is because… I want my childhood dream to come true.” Y/N began reminiscing about all those times she used to be fascinated by the romantic fairy tales she used to skim through as a child. She hoped to always meet her prince and live a happily ever after. But sadly, fate didn’t work out the way she wanted it to. A smirk appeared on Lucinda’s face. Unbeknownst to Y/N, Lucinda knew. But to make her comfortable, Lucinda acted like she was oblivious to the genuine desire of Y/N. “Okay, your highness.. whatever you say.” Lucinda reached her hands for a box that was tucked in one of the drawers. She placed the box in front of Y/N and opened it, revealing a glass beaded necklace with the pendant of a red heart. “Take this necklace and do as I say. Once the procedure’s concluded, your greatest desire will shift to live.” Y/N took the necklace and looked at Lucinda for the rules. “Alright… step one, Collect the rainwater from a stormy day. Rain from the night will not work. Make sure the water is clean, it can mess up a part of the desire. Step two, take a small amount of blood and mix it with the rainwater. The blood could be from anything or anyone besides you. Be careful with whom’s blood you choose though... As it can also cause a big impact on the desire. Step three, take the petals of your favorite flower and soak the petals inside the mixture. Step four, In a candle-lit room, dip the necklace in the mixture for 8 minutes, and in that time focus on nothing besides your desire. Last and final step, put the necklace on and go to sleep.” Y/N nodded as she took in the information, eager to begin. “But before you begin the ritual, keep these things in mind. First, you must do these tasks without the help of your servants. Second, you can’t tell any living being your desire. This must stay with only you. Third and last rule do not under any circumstances wear the necklace without completing the ritual as it could have serious consequences, worst one being losing your life.”
━━━━━━━༺۵༻━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━༺۵༻━━━━━━━
Day 1:
It’s been a week since she visited the enchantress. Y/N wanted to start with the ritual as soon as possible, but to her misfortune, the skies were clear. Not one rain cloud in sight for the entire week. She continued doing all her duties, but a guard running full speed inside the courtroom interrupted her. “Your majesty! The storms are pouring heavily outside!” She perked up from her throne when she heard the news. It was time to begin. “Thank you for informing me.” She turned towards her brother, who sat on the throne to the left of hers. Confused at her sudden happiness. “Hwa Hwa, please do me a favor and look after my duties... I have some personal issues I must tend to..” Seonghwa nodded and smiled at Y/N. “Of course. Take your time, sister.” She returned a smile towards her brother. “Wooyoung, Yeonjun, please accompany me.” Her two most trusted guards obeyed her and followed her to her chambers.
When she walked inside, she saw the same maids as last time tidying up her room. “Oh, Queen Y/N! What may we help you with?” The same maid as last time asked in a sweet voice. “Sweet Mya, please be a dear and get me a raincoat.” Mya nodded and went to her closet. It didn’t take one minute for Mya to come back with a pale pink raincoat. “Here you go!” she said as she handed Y/N the coat and some boots to match. Y/N took it with a smile. “Do you guys need any?” Y/N asked Yeonjun and Wooyoung. “No, it’s okay! We have our armor protecting us.” Wooyoung assured her. The three set off into the rose garden, Y/N had a glass bottle in hand to collect the rainwater. Y/N placed the hood on her head to protect her hair and went out in the rain. She held the bottle out so it could be filled with the rainwater. “Y/N!” Wooyoung shouted from the shade. Y/N turned her head to look at him. “Why didn’t you use the water that was running from the roof?”. She looked up at the shelter the two were standing underneath and he was right. Plenty of water leaked and it was definitely more convenient than standing in the rain. But she remembered Lucinda’s words. “Make sure the water is clean, it can really mess up the desire.” Not willing to risk any chances. She shouted back at Wooyoung responding to his question. “I’m already drenched by the rain, that would mean nothing if I just followed what you told me.” Yeonjun nodded in agreement. “True,” Wooyoung said also agreeing. When the bottle reached its brim, Y/N closed the cap tightly onto it and ran to the shelter.
“Step one, completed”
Day 2:
Y/N stared at the bottle of rainwater in her hand as she thought about how she was going to proceed with the next step. “Take a small amount of blood and mix it with the rainwater. The blood could be from anything or anyone besides you. Be careful with whom’s blood you choose, though. As it can also cause a big impact on the desire.” She knew she had to be wise when doing this step. Who’s blood should she mix with the rainwater? With an exasperated groan, she rubbed her temples. She entered the courtroom and went towards her brother, who was in his usual part of the room. She ran towards him with a pout and laced her arms around him, embracing him in a side hug. “Woah there, everything alright Lil sis?” He said as he patted her back. “I don’t know what to do anymore,” Y/N said in a dejected tone, making her brother worried. “What do you mean? Is handling the kingdom too much?” She shook her head no. “It’s not that brother..it’s something else..” Seonghwa nodded. “If you need a break, I got you. Go rest, I can see after the kingdom for a day.” She looked at him with wide eyes. “Really? You would do that!?” He nodded and squeezed her hand reassuringly. “Y/N, you’re my little sister. I would do anything for you.” He smiled at her. “Thank you so much, Hwa! You are the best big brother anyone could ask for. Love you!” She kissed his cheek and ran towards the exit of the court. She gestured Wooyoung and Yeonjun to follow her again. They went outside where they saw the charioteer feeding his horse some carrots. “Mingi!” She shouted gaining his attention. “Ah!Y/N!Where is your destination for today?” Y/N thought for a minute. “The market please.” Mingi nodded and opened the carriage’s door. “Hop in!”
When the three were situated comfortably in the carriage, Yeonjun asked the queen. “Why did you choose the market?” Y/N shrugged. “I honestly have no reason. It feels right.”
The carriage stopped in the market area. Settled in were many shops. All selling items of different varieties. As she walked through, many people bowed to show their respect towards her. “Wooyoung, can you please get us and yourself something to eat?” Y/N asked Wooyoung as she handed him a wad of cash. “Of course, anything specific?” Y/N had a mental fight with herself as she decided what to eat. After a couple of seconds, she finally decided a piece of chocolate cake would be nice as she’s eaten nothing sweet in a while. “Get me some churros, please! I heard they got fantastic ones here!” Yeonjun exclaimed with a cute smile plastered on his handsome face. “I’ll take the same. How about you Mingi?” Wooyoung asked, turning his gaze to Mingi. “Some carrots and a cupcake, please!” They all thanked the queen for her benevolence, Wooyoung then left to go to the shops that had the treats. Y/N stood there and glanced around. Her sight was captivated by a man, a man bringing a bag of food for someone who looked homeless. She slowly crept closer to eavesdrop on the conversation. “Thank you so much... you don’t understand how much this would help me..” The man smiled. “Of course! Anytime! If you need anything, stop by me! I will always be happy to offer you some freshly baked pastries!” The man then turned to leave for his shops. Y/N couldn’t help but feel curious. “Yeonjun, I’m going over there to check out those shops. Stay here! I’ll be back!” Before Yeonjun could respond, Y/N left, giving him no say.
Y/N was now in front of a shop called “Sunshine’s Sweets.” She stood outside for a while, contemplating whether she should go in or stay out. She concluded she would go inside. When she opened the door, the noise it made startled the man. He quickly wiped his tears and faced her. “Good day ma’am! What can we-Oh my god!? Your highness! It’s an honor to meet you!” He bowed. Y/N looked at the man with concern. In a soft voice, she asked. “I hope I’m not being invasive, but what’s wrong? Why are you crying?” The man’s face turned pale when she asked him this. He let out a heavy sigh as he sat on his stool. “Well… My business has been going down recently. I barely make any profit these days because I can’t stand to see homeless people suffer, also nobody comes to my shop anymore..” Y/N tilted her head in confusion. “Why? Your treats look pretty tasty.” With a frown, he told her the reason. “People think I’m scamming them because I give the homeless people free food.” Y/N had to stop herself from rolling her eyes with aggravation. People can be so irritating sometimes. “I’m sorry this happened.. smile, but may I ask you something?” She asked, making the man perk up. “Anything!” She took a deep breath before asking, “Do you regret any of this?” He looked at her, confused. “What do you mean.” “I mean giving out the food. Do you regret it?” The man smiled. “If I had to do it again, I would. Seeing the smiles of the people I helped makes me euphoric..” Y/N felt very satisfied with his answer. His blood was pure kindness. “What’s your name?.” “Jeong Yunho.” With a smile, she offered him an opportunity, but with one condition. “Yunho. You are a good person. I am willing to help your business go back to how it was, if not even better. But with one request.” He widened his eyes. “What is it? I’m willing to sell my soul to you if that is it!” She giggled. “Your lucky it’s not. But the request is strange.” Yunho smiled. “Strange is a word I’m not afraid of!”
“Give me a small sample of your blood. As strange as it sounds trust me.”
Day 3 (last day):
Y/N finally could return to her duties of ruling her kingdom because this is a step she planned to do in the night. She didn’t know whether this decision was going to have an impact or do nothing at all. But she wasn’t taking any chances. She always preferred night over day. Not only does night come with rest, but it also comes with a calm but mysterious atmosphere. After a while of sitting on the throne and making decisions that were best for her and her kingdom, the night finally made its entrance. Before she went to her chambers, she visited her garden. The guards weren’t weirded out by her visiting her garden in the middle of the night because this was a usual occurrence. She loved to see how the moon would glisten against the rose petals. After a couple of minutes of admiring the beauty of the roses, she plucked one. She scrutinized it, but this seemed to be dirty. She placed that one aside, knowing what to do with them, so she didn’t waste the pretty flowers. Again, she plucked another, but this one seemed to be ripped. She sighed and cast it aside. She hoped it won’t take a while to find the perfect rose. After five more roses with a problem such as ripped or dirty, finally, she found the perfect one. The 8th rose had no defects. It was perfect. She squealed in excitement. She picked up the basket of roses and ran towards her room.
When she unlocked her room, she quickly went into action. She took out all the items and set them neatly on the table. As Lucinda said, she took out the candles that she had saved for this very moment and lit them ablaze. After doing so, she shut off all the lights and closed the curtains so the only visible light could be the lights of the candles.
Now it was time.
After creating the mixture, she soaked the necklace inside of it for 8 minutes. The only thing that was on her mind was him. She didn’t know how to envision how he’d look, but she knew what type of person she wanted him to be. When the time was up, she put the necklace on. The moment she clasped the necklace against her neck was when she blacked out.
She was awoken by the glare of the sun rays that shone through her window. She arose quickly to see if the ritual worked. Unfortunately, the only presence in the room was her. She let out a frustrated groan and walked towards her vanity. “Was I so foolish to believe this ritual would be effective?” She said, disappointed at how doltish she was. She was about to cry when a sudden realization hit her. But wait… she could clearly remember she blacked out on the vanity. How is it that someone placed her comfortably on her bed? She knew she locked her doors last night so it couldn’t possibly be a maid or butler. Her hands unconsciously went and clutched onto the heart pendant. A radiant reddish-pink hue was emitted from the pendant. It was truly fascinating. “Is this supposed to light up?” It was a rhetorical question, but she got an answer. “Indeed, it is, mistress.” A husky but gentle voice said from behind her. When she turned around. It was as if time stopped. The man who stood before her was ethereal. She walked up to him to have a closer look at his countenance. His hair resembled the color of her favorite pink roses, his face looked silky smooth as one of those rose petals, his jawline was sharp as the knives in her kitchen, his eyes were big and round, his lips looked smooth and kissable. This man was perfect. The epitome of Perfect. “Who are you?” She questioned as her eyes shamefully scanned his clothed body. He looked very muscular, that’s for sure. “Greetings to you, mistress. The name is Kang Yeosang.” His hands lowered to intertwine with hers. A very visible blush painted her cheeks at his next words.
“Your greatest desire.”
Coughs and Cuddles
Tumblr media
Plot: You take care of your boyfriend, Hueningkai, when he’s sick.
You woke up far too early in the morning to the sound of your phone ringing. Sitting up in bed with a wide yawn, you fumbled around on your bed for your phone. It took you a while to find, somehow you had managed to trap it between your bedside table and your bed in your sleep, so by the time you finally answered it was about to go to voicemail.
“Hello?” you asked.
“Hey, y/n.” The voice on the other end says. “It’s me.”
“Yeonjun?” you asked. Although you were friends with the entirety of TXT, considering you were dating Hueningkai, you weren’t used to getting calls from the other members. You definitely weren’t used to getting calls from the other members so early in the morning.
“Yeah. Sorry if I woke you up, but I’ve got a favor to ask,” he said.
“What’s going on?” you asked.
“Hyuka’s sick and he needs rest, but we have practice today. I don’t want to leave him alone while he’s sick in case he needs anything, so do you think you can come over and take care of him? It’ll just be for today until we get back from practice.”
“Yeah, of course. I’d be happy to,” you said.
“Great,” said Yeonjun. “Can you be here in an hour?”
“I’ll be there in half,” you say and hang up to get ready.
Within twenty minutes, you had showered, dressed, and eaten and you were ready to start the ten minute walk to TXT’s dorms.
It was still early enough that the sun had just barely risen. Even though it was summer, the morning air was still a bit chilly and you wrapped your arms around you for warmth. All in all, it would’ve been quite an enjoyable walk if you hadn’t been busy worrying so much about Kai. You knew he didn’t get sick often, but when he did he was down for the count.
You were greeted at the dorms by Soobin. He was already wearing shoes and socks and looked ready to go.
“Kai’s in Yeonjun’s room, Taehyun didn’t want to be in the same room in case he might get sick too. Anyway, we’re about to head out,” Soobin said.
“Ok, thanks,” you said, stepping inside.
“Beomgyu, Taehyun, Yeonjun!” Soobin called turning his head to look down the hallway. “It’s time to go!”
You walked through the dorms, ignoring the chaos around you as the boys got ready to leave.
Yeonjun was the only member of TXT who had his own room. It was located at the end of a hallway off the main room. You had never been in the inside of Yeonjun’s room so you weren’t familiar with the layout. Luckily, the inside of Yeonjun’s room was dim but not completely dark so you could navigate your way to the bed where Kai was.
He was lying in the bed, twisted up in the blankets. His pink shark plushie had been knocked off the bed. It looked like he had been tossing and turning for a bit but now, he was laying still on his side facing away from you. It looked like he was curled up around a plushie, probably Molang, and only his head was visible.
“Hyuka?” you whisper, just in case he was asleep.
“Y/n?” he asked, sitting up in bed. He looked, in the nicest way possible, awful. There were red fever spots on his cheeks, his bangs were plastered to his forehead with sweat, and his eyes were glazed over. Even though he looked to be slightly out of it, he smiled upon seeing you.
“Hey, baby,” you said, reaching out to card your hands through his hair. “How’re you feeling?”
“Better with you here,” he said, leaning into your touch. Your hand was cool against his burning skin.
You chuckled. “You’re such a cheeseball.”
Hyuka opened his mouth to say something, but instead he fell into a fit of coughing.
“Awwww, baby,” you said and moved your hand to rub his back gently.
Kai stopped coughing after a bit. “My throat hurts,” he whimpered.
“Ok, baby, just lay back down. I’ll get you some ginger honey tea, does that sound good?” You ask.
Kai nodded.
You fluffed the pillow up a little. Sleeping with your head raised helps open up your airways, or at least that’s what you remembered reading. Then you straightened up his blankets and tucked him in before walking to the door.
“Oh,” you say, pausing at the doorframe. “Do you need anything else?”
“Grape juice?” he asked hopefully.
You couldn’t help but smile. You and your grape juice,” you said.
It’s lucky that you spent so much time raiding TXTs cabinets and fridge because you knew exactly where to find everything.
Instead of using a ginger teabag and just squirting in some honey, you opted to make a version of Saenggangcha with fresh ginger. You stored the excess ginger and honey mixture in a glass jar in the fridge door. Then you poured Kai a glass of grape juice.
When you reentered Kai’s, or rather Yeonjun’s, room you thought he was asleep. You made sure to be quiet when you set the two drinks down on the bedside table and pressed a soft kiss to Kai’s warm forehead. As you started to walk away to grab a chair so you could sit comfortably at Kai’s bedside, Kai grabbed your wrist.
“Cuddle with me?” he asked.
“I want to, but I don’t think that’s a great idea” you say, and you really did want to cuddle. Kai gave the best cuddles and hugs and you wanted nothing more than to have him wrapped up in your arms, but you definitely weren’t keen on catching whatever it was that Kai had.
“Pleeeeeaaaseee,” Kai asked, giving you puppy eyes. “Please, please, pleeeeaaaaseee.”
You sighed. That boy knew your weak spot.
“Ok,” you say.
Kai grinned and scooted over to make room. You slipped under the covers behind him and wrapped your arms around his waist, pulling his back tight against you. He snuggled up getting as close to you as possible. The heat from his fever enveloped both of you now and you knew you were at risk of getting sick later, but somehow, you found that you didn’t mind. Having Kai in your arms and playing with his hair as he slowly drifted off to sleep was more than worth the consequences.
A/n: Saengangcha is a Korean ginger tea. When I was writing this, I used these recipes as inspiration
