At a sleazy-looking summer resort somewhere in northern Wisconsin where Magilla Gorilla is offering diving lessons and excursions
A TOURIST, obviously looking for something different than watching the same predictable TV: Is it just me, or doesn't there seem to be some worthwhile activities as could take the place of watching TV?
MAGILLA GORILLA, somewhat perplexed: Did I hear correctly that you were looking for something different than watching TV--as in maybe learning diving?
A TOURIST, stunned by this discovery: NOW they're sending gorillas to offer dive lessons of late!
MAGILLA GORILLA: As in diving underwater, I will have you know!
A TOURIST: Sheesh! What'll they think of next?

I think a lot of people wanna help and simply don't know where to start so here's a how to.
Alright this How To is targeted towards youth and particularly school protests, but 18+ protests follow the same general outline. A good piece, especially if you find yourself in rural territory without activists/organizers to plan anything for you.
Protests are a good way to raise awareness and demonstrate support for an issue. They can also help people feel they are part of a bigger movement and inspire them to action. The goal of protesting isn’t just to yell and hold up signs, it’s to inspire change and influence your community. However, protests can be controversial, so you should think about the pros and cons in your particular situation.
Types of Protests
When people think of protesting, they often picture a large march, but there’s lots of different ways to get your point across.
Sit-ins involve peacefully occupying a public space by sitting for a designated period of time and are popular in schools and colleges.
Sit-ins for student rights have taken place outside the offices of college presidents and in high school courtyards. A sit-in demanding academic freedom could entail students sitting in on a class they’re not allowed to take, sitting outside a principal’s office, or occupying a school board meeting.
Silent protests can be done as part of refusing to participate in a required activity. You can organize your protest on a specific day and include symbols of solidarity such as wearing a specific color. In 2010, 2,086 students at West High in Madison, Wisconsin gathered for a silent sit-in to protest a change in their curriculum.
Walkouts are often used in schools and colleges where a group simply leaves at a designated time in an effort to express disapproval. They can often lead into a rally or march. They also can occur spontaneously, in response to some event.
Walkouts have a long history in the fight for student rights, including Barbara Johns who organized a walkout to protest poor school facilities and segregated schools in the 1950s and Mexican-American students that protested unfair treatments and corporal punishment in the 60s.
Protest rallies involve people making speeches about an issue. You can invite someone to act as an emcee to lead protest chants and songs and other community members who support your issue. Rallies are often used at the beginning or end of protest marches, but can be used by themselves. Rallies should be creative to bring attention to your cause. In 2014, dozens of students from the Providence Student Union in Providence, RI dressed up as zombies for a rally against standardized testing.
Picketing and protest marches are similar except a picket stays in one place, like in front of a business, and marches go from one location to another. In most places, you will have to remain on the sidewalk or other public areas unless you’ve obtained a permit from your local government.
Boycotts are refusals to buy a product or participate in an activity. Boycotts can happen alongside a protest and are good to use as a last resort- just the threat of a boycott may be enough to make your opposition back down.
Planning Your Protest
Use your protest as part of a larger campaign. Depending on what your issue is, you should make sure that you’ve also used other methods to create change. If you are protesting a law or policy, let the people responsible know your complaint and give them a chance to respond. And since not everyone will be comfortable with protesting, make sure you are being inclusive by encouraging other ways for people to show their support, such as:
making phone calls
writing letters
organizing a boycott.
Holding a protest where not enough people show up might not help your campaign as much as other tactics, so you should make sure you have enough people to participate.
Decide on a time and place. Protests can happen anywhere, but you should arrange your protest where it will be seen by as many people as possible. Some options include:
the sidewalk in front of a business
government offices
your school
a park
If you’re protesting on private property without permission, the owner can ask you to leave and call the police to remove you if you don’t.
You should also pick a time when you can get the most people to attend the protest (like a weekend), unless you want to specifically target someone (such as a legislator) and pick a time when they’ll be around. Obtain a permit, if needed.
Publicize your protest.
Make brightly-colored flyers and posters about the protest and put them up around town and your school
Hand out pamphlets
Publicize in your school newspaper and on social media
Make a press release and send it to local newspapers, to websites and blogs, and to other organizations that may support your message
Call local newspapers and radio stations and ask them to promote the protest.
Be prepared to talk about your issue in case you are asked for an interview. Even if people don’t come, they may be curious and research it.
Make a visual impact
Make brightly colored posters and banners with catchy slogans and bring some extra. Have pamphlets to help spread your message information on what you’re protesting to interested parties. Put the name of your chapter or group with your contact details so that people who are new to the issue will know who to contact to find out more. You can use chalk to write messages on public sidewalks.
Be vocal. Learn or create some chants so that everyone knows what you’re protesting and why. Some examples include:
What do we want? Voting Rights! When do we want them? Now!
Hey, hey! Ho, ho! Curfew laws have got to go!
Youth rights are human rights!
Whose schools? Our schools!

Bounty Hunter AU but DCxDP
OK, so I really enjoyed my bounty hunter au, but I feel like I could make it more entertaining. This is a human au btw.
Some info: Bounty hunter is an actual job and are mostly called bail enforcement agents or fugitive recovery agents. They can legally pursue fugitives across state lines and break and enter their house without a warrant if they know the fugitive is there. They primarily pursue and apprehend fugitives who have skipped bail or failed to appear for court proceedings. Only 4 states ban bounty hunting; Oregon, Kentucky, Illinois, and Wisconsin. (I do not know if this would be mirrored in DC because of how many super villains there are.) The laws regarding bounty hunters vary state to state. Only the USA and the Philippines have legalized bounty hunters.
Danny becomes a bounty hunter out of spite towards the GIW. His goal is to show up the GIW bounty hunter group and rub it in their face. And to catch Vlad and turn in the bounty on his head.
Danny's gotten pretty good at being a bounty hunter. He's caught quite a few criminals and is on the case of another one that happens to have crossed over into one of the hero's territory.
Here's a few ideas of how this could go:
Danny goes to Gotham to catch Johnny and Kitty. Given that their aesthetic matches Gotham pretty well, they're able to blend in well enough that even though Danny's tracked them to Gotham and is loosely working with the commissioner, he has to resort to asking for help from the Bats. Neither side trusts the other. Danny nearly gives up when Johnny and Kitty go through another dramatic break-up that has nearly the entirety of Gotham gossiping about it. He finds them, handcuffs them, and leaves for Amity. Both the bats and himself are relieved to not be dealing with the other.
Danny goes to Gotham to catch Spectra. Her and her butler are slippery and wonderful at disappearing, but given the amount of poverty they stick out. This tips off the Bats' that something's wrong. Danny gets to town and while the bats do not trust him, he's working(sorta) with Commissioner Gordon. As a last ditch effort to avoid getting caught, Spectra and Bertrand join Joker and Harley. Despite the four getting along, Harley gets jealous which causes them to have an explosive falling out, catching everyone's eyes. The situation becomes Spectra & Bertrand v Joker & Harley v Danny & the Bats.
Danny goes to Metropolis to catch Aragon. He chose the place because he thought it would be easy to lay low and then start a new cult. He wasn't wrong. Danny teams up with investigative reporter, Clark Kent, to find the slimy ex-cult leader.
Skulker goes to Jump City to hunt Beast Boy. He, unlike most of Danny's other bounties, is wanted in several states. He's also one of the few to seek out Danny specifically. So when Danny shows up to prevent him from doing his job, Skulker sees it as an opportunity to use BB as bait. A 'two birds, one stone' sorta thing. Danny teams up with the rest of the Teen Titans to take down Skulker and save BB.
The GIW ends up chasing down the same fugitive as Danny (for different bounties) in Star City. Green Arrow has to keep the two from destroying his city.
Desiree goes to hide in Faucet City. She's laying low by working as a fortune teller(cliche I know) but the ambient magic is causing her reading to be rather accurate. Especially the readings about misfortune. This gains her the attention of the news and Wiz Radio Show host, Billy Batson. The news is how Danny learns where she is. Billy thinks that Desiree is a new villain, while Danny's just trying to figure out how Desiree became such a popular fortune teller while trying not to make a huge scene. The two meet and immediately clock the other as a potential ally in taking down Desiree quietly. Between how many secrets Billy keeps and Danny's constant off-the-wall split second decision making, it's like working with the Bats again but they actually get along.
and here's two crack-ish ideas for you:
Danny is standing just outside of Wisconsin while Vlad taunts him. Saying stuff about how sad it is that bounty hunting isn't legal in Wisconsin. Danny just calls the fricken cops on him instead.
Or instead of Danny calling the cops, he just starts leaving. Vlad is not done taunting him though and starts to follow him, when he realizes he's fallen into a trap and left the relative safety of Wisconsin.

Laurie Dann's upbringing in an affluent Chicago suburb appeared unremarkable at first glance. However, beneath her seemingly normal exterior lay a complex and troubled individual.
Known for her insecurities, Laurie resorted to plastic surgery at a young age in an attempt to alter her appearance. Although she attended the University of Arizona for some time, she never completed her degree. It was during her stint as a cocktail waitress at Green Acres Country Club that she crossed paths with Russell Dann, scion of a wealthy family. The pair became inseparable, eventually marrying in September 1982 and fulfilling Laurie's lifelong dream of residing in a grand mansion.
Yet, as their relationship progressed, Russell began to notice increasingly odd behaviors from his wife. Laurie's idiosyncrasies included storing makeup in the microwave, randomly tossing money into her car's backseat, and putting away wet clothes. Her eccentricities gradually worsened, leading to her complete withdrawal from the outside world. She refused to leave the house and neglected basic household chores.
The once-promising marriage reached a calamitous climax in September 1986 when Russell awoke to the searing pain of an ice pick stabbing him. Convinced Laurie was his assailant, he promptly alerted the police. Adding weight to his claim, a store clerk testified that Laurie had recently purchased an ice pick. However, as Russell had not witnessed the attack while he slept, the charges against Laurie were eventually dropped. The couple divorced shortly thereafter. During the divorce proceedings, Laurie's ex-boyfriend from five years prior became the target of threatening phone calls in which she falsely claimed to be pregnant with his child. The harassment ceased only when her ex-boyfriend's lawyer intervened and contacted her parents.
Following her departure from the marital home, Laurie attempted to pursue a career as a babysitter. However, her venture quickly soured as she faced accusations of theft and vandalism, including slashing furniture, rugs, and curtains in clients' homes. With this business idea in ruins, she sought refuge in a dormitory on a college campus. Unfortunately, her stay there was also fraught with erratic behavior. Laurie hid rotting meat inside furniture and deposited trash in other students' rooms.
Seeking a fresh start, she moved to another dorm in Madison, Wisconsin, where her presence earned her the nickname "elevator lady." Witness accounts painted a disturbing picture of Laurie aimlessly riding the elevator for hours on end. She continued her pattern of leaving decomposing meat around the building and even startled onlookers by appearing naked in communal areas. Just one month after her arrival, a dorm room was set ablaze. Although suspicions were raised about Laurie's involvement, no concrete evidence was found, and she was never charged.
By this point, Laurie's mental state had deteriorated to a point of no return. Tragically, appropriate professional intervention was never sought. After threatening a fellow student and slashing his clothing, Laurie turned to a more sinister act. She baked buns laced with arsenic and distributed them to various fraternity houses and local residences.
In a separate incident, she attempted to take two children from a former babysitting client to a fair, but fortunately, the children refused to consume the poisoned milk she offered them. The diluted arsenic in the treats she had distributed caused no harm. Laurie's descent into chaos continued as she tried to set fire to a nearby daycare center before returning to the home of her former clients and setting it ablaze. The family managed to escape through a broken window just in time.
Unfazed, Laurie proceeded to Hubbard Woods Elementary School armed with two handguns. Upon entering the building, she opened fire indiscriminately, killing 8-year-old Nicholas Corwin and critically injuring five others. After shedding her blood-soaked shorts and improvising a makeshift bag around her waist, Laurie fled the school. Her escape came to an abrupt end when she crashed her car into a tree.
Seeking refuge, she broke into the home of Ruth and Phillip Andrews, holding the terrified family hostage for six harrowing hours. Laurie claimed she had killed her rapist and was now evading the police. In a desperate struggle, Phillip managed to wrestle the gun away from her, sustaining a gunshot wound to his chest in the process. Despite his injury, he staggered into the garden while his family sought safety. Alone in the Andrews' residence, Laurie turned the gun on herself, ending her tumultuous life.

Hello! Here's some bonus content for Once Upon a December. This was originally going to be part of the last chapter but I was hitting a wall. Please enjoy the belated Christmas treat! ☺️🎄
Tumblr media
Three years later
“What about this one?”
Matt turns towards the tree Sylvie was pointing to.  It was around six feet tall.  He tilts his head to the side, examining it.
“It could work,” he tells his wife.
“Do you think we can get it into the living room?”  Sylvie asks.
He laughs.  Last year, they agreed on a much larger tree except that when they got back to their house, they found that they couldn’t get it past the foyer.  They ended up having to saw off some of the branches and a bit of the base.
“I think so.  If not, we’ll bust out the circular saw again,” he mentions jokingly.
She rolls her eyes at him before shaking her head.
Buying a tree had been one of their many Christmas traditions since two years ago.  Decorating it was always fun, Matt had to admit.  Last year, Violet, Griffin and Ben helped out, turning their tree into a very interesting one to say the least.
It had character was what Sylvie said after the kids were done.
They do end up buying the handsome Douglas fir tree.  Matt thanks the guy as he helps load it onto the truck, cranking up the heat as they got int the cab of the truck.
When they get home, they start to unearth the bins of Christmas decorations.  Sylvie grins as she finds the first set of ornaments she bought Matt at the Christmas market, showing them to him.
“Maybe we can go back next week and see if they have more of these.  They’ll look great on the tree,” she tells him, holding up a wooden snowflake.
He grins at her.  Over the years, Sylvie’s love for Christmas never faded and she had somehow managed to influence Matt.  They took turns planning wonderful Christmas activities for each other - two years ago, on their first anniversary, Matt surprised her with a weekend ski trip to a resort in Wisconsin.  Sylvie got him little presents corresponding to the twelve days of Christmas in return. There were weird presents like a can of pears but Matt loved them all the same. He loved the idea so much that when he proposed last year, he took a page from her book, this time giving her gifts based on the song 'Santa Baby'. He had to admit, he looked forward to Christmas because of her and her unending enthusiasm.
Even as she jams a Santa hat on top of his head to match the pair of reindeer ears she just put on, gazing at him innocently.
“You want some hot chocolate?”  He asks.
She beams at him and his heart just soars.
It’s that God damn smile that gets him every single time.
“Of course I do,” she states, “your hot chocolate is the best in Chicago.”
She says it as if it’s a widely known fact but he’s happy nonetheless at her sweeping statement.  It’s a big compliment coming from Sylvie, who loved anything that had chocolate in it.
When he gets back from the kitchen, Sylvie’s made much work of organizing the bins, arranging them based on the contents - Christmas lights, Christmas balls, other ornaments.  There’s even a bin for Christmas stockings that Sylvie’s family had gotten them last year, one for the each of them.
He hands her a mug, which was also Christmas themed, of course.
“Thanks,” she says before taking a sip and sighing.
He grins, taking a sip from his own mug.
“Anything you need help with?”  Matt inquires, looking around the room.
“Can you hang the Christmas stockings please?”
There’s a twinkle in her eye, like she’s in on some secret he isn’t but he doesn’t question it nor does he question the fact that the stockings were usually hung last - right before they lit the fire and cuddled up on the couch watching one of Sylvie’s many favorite holiday movies.  He grabs the first stocking, hanging it on the hook over the fireplace before grabbing the other one and doing the same.  He’s about to close the bin but something red catches his eye.
He stares at it for what feels like ages because somehow his brain could not comprehend what he was seeing.
It’s a tiny sock, like those for babies.
But they didn’t have a baby yet.  They had been trying for a couple of months.
Did this mean what he thought it did?  He told her when she agreed to marry him that he was making all his dreams come true.  This one was like adding an annex to that dream, to the longstanding one he’s had since he could remember.
“You okay, hon?”  comes Sylvie’s sweet yet tentative voice, her hand on his shoulder.
He turns to face her, opening his mouth, waiting for words to form.
“I, uh, we -”
She patiently waits for him to get there, eyes bright, gnawing on her bottom lip.
“We’re having a baby?”  He finally manages to ask.
She nods slowly before confirming, “we’re having a baby.”
He launches himself at her, pulling her in for a fierce hug, spinning her around.  Her laughter is in his ear, musical almost.
“We’re having a baby,” he repeats in wonder.
“Merry Christmas, Matt.” she whispers, cupping his cheek tenderly.
He smiles back, “Merry Christmas, Sylvie.”
He sets her down, the two of them swaying, slow dancing in their living room while snow fell out side.
Matt holds Sylvie closer, still reeling from the news.
He glances outside, unable to keep himself from reminiscing about this cheerful paramedic who dropped by his firehouse.  He smiles at how far they’ve come.
To think, it all started one random day in December which turned out to be one to remember forever.

hi guys! happy october. here’s a little idea for you all.
So, with the recent rumors of Scream VII taking place in Christmas taking a jolly old hop around, I had an idea that made me giggle in the middle of English—yes, everybody looked at me like I was clinically insane.
As somebody who lives in Wisconsin, I’ve had so many winter days where school is totally cancelled for multiple days because of the absolute beasts that are the snow storms. And since “group of friends are stuck together for a little too long and go at each other’s throats gradually” is one of my favorite types of comedy, why not do this?
TORRID snowstorm in New York. The core four’s snowed in, work’s cancelled, you name it. By day five when the snow’s finally cleared, they’re practically barbarians stuck on an island about to resort to cannibalism instead of four twenty somethings stuck in an apartment together all 24 hours of the day.
Chaos. So much chaos for those five days. The Babadook is practically burned into Sam, Mindy, and Chad’s brain (if it wasn’t already) from how much Tara watches it, Mindy has consumed so many energy drinks it would murder the average small child, Sam’s greying (more than she already was), and Chad’s just..Chad.
Kind of reminds me of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Who cares I’m two months early?

I think it's such a shame that no one can get mental help in Upper Michigan, USA. I had to take "getting help" into my own hands and read into psychiatry/different therapies and teach myself how to be less depressed/anxious on my own because my survival instinct kicked in and I can't just go without help. I literally had to help myself as a last resort. It was really difficult but I somehow pulled through. I'm still not able to function like a proper adult (can't work or drive), but I'm no longer s**c*dal and planning my own death like I did between the ages of 14-28. My 30's have actually been great so far. I have a lot less episodes and they are shorter and less intense. I haven't self-harmed in about 5 years or so too. Some people can't conquer such a thing though, and I am really concerned for several of my friends. You wouldn't believe the amount of people who live in my area who come to me crying about how they can't take it anymore. A couple of them jumped through hoops to get online therapy (tele-health, but it's very pricey and inconvenient). It's pretty much all of my friends at this point. Like my advice and compassion can only do so much and it doesn't ever seem to help them. It's become a little tiring in a way.
Same with getting a dentist with cheap insurance. The greedy conservatives (which is 2/3 of the population here) won't allow it. We all have to travel downstate or to Wisconsin to get basic work done (it takes 3.5 hours of driving to get downstate and 2.5 hours to get anywhere good in Wisconsin + no one drives or can afford cars anymore so we're all doomed). I'm gonna have to start getting to the abscess stage again to have to energy/drive to seek another dentist willing to help and that is not fair. I shouldn't have to look like I do hard drugs just because no one will fix my teeth + depression never helped with that equation either.
Everyone's life up here is a disaster. I live in a corner of the world that is sickeningly resource-less. The nearest psychiatric hospital is 1.5 hours away and doesn't usually accept people unless they've committed a crime or something drastic. The 2nd closest one is a double drive down to Wisconsin, unless you have Michigan-only insurance, then you're driving 6 hours downstate.
Another thing that drives me up the wall is the lack of basic ANYTHING. My friend from New York wants to come visit, but there's little to no AirBnB's up here unless you find a cabin in the woods with no phone/internet service, T-Mobile doesn't reach up here, no Uber drivers of any kind (2 expensive taxi companies that are overbooked all the time is the only way to get anywhere), no basic stores to find anything you're looking for so we all have to order stuff off the internet, no records stores in the entire U.P. except for a couple run-down multi-media stores that have maybe a bin or two of 60's country and Christmas music on vinyl, etc, etc. Also, my town has always been living about 10-15 years in the past. You can't find online reviews or even websites for most stores because the boomers and bootlicking assholes around here don't know what the fuck computers are. And if there's a fashion trend that I find on the internet (like crop tops of example), they won't hit our stores until 5 years later when the trend slows down. The end. Rant over. I don't wanna upset myself but like... lol...

FUN FACT FRIDAY!!! What’s one fun fact about you that you haven’t shared with us yet? 💜
Ooh, fun ask, thanks Susie!
Hmm...fun fact? I work in hospitality and one of the perks of my job is free resort stays. It's the only way my husband and I are able to travel as much as we do. We can also be reimbursed up to $250 a year for travel expenses, such as rental cars or flights.
Because of this perk, we're able to travel at least 2-3x a year. In 2022, we were actually in San Francisco and then 3 weeks later in Myrtle Beach. Coast to Coast in under a month!
We try to space travel out, but some years, PTO gets rearranged and it just happens we travel in back to back months. Happened in 2020 as well where we were in Vermont and 2 weeks later we were in Pheonix, Arizona😅
This year we have 3 trips planned. Southern California was in February, Maine is in June, and Colorado is in July.
For 2025, it's up in the air depending on if we can get back into IVF or not. But I do know we'll be back in Southern California, likely in October. It's a destination we try to get to every year. This was our 4th year.
Some states I'd still like to see are Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, Montana, Louisiana, Idaho, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
Thanks again for the ask, this was a fun way to start my Friday! 😊
