Omg hi!!! I just went through my bookmarks and found some of my favorites!! Literally I had the hardest time narrowing down, I've got so many I love, also some I can't remember the Exact plot of that I'm sure I absolutely love and have just forgotten. So I definitely have more up my sleeve if anyone wants more. Head the tags for some of these.

The Enticement of Suffering by jonnimir - latest fic I just read, gory and sexy wound fucking coda to dolce. if you're into that it's SO GOOD

Not Quite Charity by @stranded-labyrinth - au first meeting between Will and Hannibal, hannibal leaves his car in a run down area of Baltimore and will, who's homeless, heckles him about it and Hannibal decides to pay him to watch it for him. I love this will sm!! It's a really interesting look at their dynamic, and is super in character and just a fun au study!!

Perda de memória by bleakmidwinter - amnesia!hannibal post fall fic. I'm actually a sucker for amnesia aus and love the angst in this. It adds an element to Will's struggle and decision making that makes his mindset post fall all the more interesting. And I love how much hannibal is still hannibal despite not remembering hardly anything.

Everything casts a shadow by @ghostforwhat - i looooove season 2 Will killing more people. I can't ever get enough of it. It's written so well and believably here, and the way it changes the course of the season is super fascinating. Currently a wip.

Wolf and I by t_pock - so so sooo fucking good. One of my favorites. It also has a Podfic as well and I love Podfics soo much and relisten to it often. Season 1 au that has more elements of horror, creepiness, symbolism and hands down the best, hottest, wildest forest chase sequence I've ever read. This fic feels more like a folk or fairy tale it's so good, especially paired with the beautiful art the podficer made, as well as the music they paired with the Podfic. Can't recommend this one enough.

A night off the record by barcharonte - season 1 au again, where on the way to Minnesota hannibal and will get snowed in and have to take shelter somewhere. Will is still losing time and hallucinating. Hannibal still tries to take advantage of course. Fun times to be had.

Between ease and foresight by devotional_doldrums - season 1 au (can you tell I like these? Lol) where wills and Hannibal's metaphorical conversations get a little too on the nose and Will finds out. SUPER good hannibal pov, I want to eat parts of this fic the writing is so good, and the author's notes are hilarious.

Sings to me nightly, sings to me brightly by serindrana - psychic connection phone sex what more could you want!!

The joy of creation by fkahersweetness - super dark mute!will post fall. I wouldn't say I think this is Actually how a post fall dynamic would be but in the universe of this fic it's so so sooo amazing. I love the surreality and implied shared visions/psychosis connection that will and Hannibal have here. Also the ending layed me tf out for days.

Radon and its daughters by @chaparral-crown - best most believable and realistic abo au ever. Nuff said.

Speaking of abo the one where Will smells like blood to hannibal, so good. I'll probably survive this by saintsavage

Pochée by ellopoppet - season 1 au! Also with a Podfic, Will's away on a case but is still getting closer to hannibal through texts and calls.

Mon chéri by sandyquinn - cracky Addams family au esque one shot. Just super cute and silly. I'm picky about my cute and silly but the Addams family morbidity fits comedy hannigram to a T.

Never let it starve by northern - another Will finds out in season 1, I truly can't get enough of these. Also bonus bug boy will!!!

Let the river rush in by several - Explores an actual psychic connection between the boys, again I'm a huge fan of this trope.

Hyacinth house by bluesyturtle - MY BELOVED!!!! One of my top top faves, season 1 au, cool cases, great relationship dynamic between the boys, and im obsessed with how this fic portrays Will's empathy and how it plays with his gender a bit. Love the story, love the ending. Also with Podfic!

Pattern break by thisbeautifuldrowning - dark Will au season 2 where he doesn't plot with Jack or go back to the fbi and deals with Hannibal himself. LOVE how this one plays out.

Bloodline by xzombiezkittenx - VAMPIRE AU MY LOVEEEEE this fic is an utter joy if you like vamp aus. The world building is great.

A consequence of consumption by ironlotus - straight up hands down my favorite fic in the fandom I think. It's still a wip, but it's one of the best characterizations, writing, plot, and just perfect outstanding everything I've seen in this fandom. It's an au where before all the events of season 1, Will is kidnapped by Eldon stamments and is kept alive and rescued eventually. It's peak "Will's milkshake brings all the serial killers to the yard" trope and the way everything is woven together, the storylines and character motivations, is just crazy good. Also one of my most favorite hannibal pov and characterizations out there.

The RotBTD+ Gang Plays DnD! (Feat. my ships, sorry not sorry XD)

So highkey I’ve actually been wanting to do a “The Gang Plays DnD” type post for AGES now, but then I saw @hobie-brown and @ohlooksheswriting-wips do DnD AU posts for RotBTD, and then I was like “Ah shit, I really should finish mine, eh?” So thank you to both of you for inspiring me to get off my ass and actually write the post!!!

Hiccup DMs. He comes up with this super complex plot revolving around dragons (because of course) where the party has to dismantle this society ruled by evil knights who want to genocide all of the dragons. Imagine his chagrin when the party wants to do nothing but fuck around in towns and aggravate NPCs 90% of the time.

They usually end up playing at Jack’s apartment, mainly because Hiccup’s dad doesn’t really want a bunch of loud nerds yelling about 20-sided dice in his household while he’s trying to work, if he can at all help it. Jack’s sister regularly barges into their living room and roasts the fuck out of Jack and his friends for being such damn nerds and eats all of their DnD snacks they’ve set out. If they’re in the middle of a combat session, she always gleefully proclaims that they’re all going to die. While Jack is annoyed by this, the rest of the party finds it deeply hilarious.

Jack Overland plays the absolute mayhem warlock Jack Frost, who got his powers through making a deal with the archfey Prince of Frost and has absolutely no qualms about being an evil god’s mortal Sower of Chaos. He spends the vast majority of the campaign doing such useful things as creating ice slicks under annoying NPCs and freezing people’s drinks. He also plays a Tiefling because absolutely no one can talk this boy out of playing the creepy demon race.

Rapunzel plays a woodland nymph druid who is also the party healer (because of course she is). Her name is probably Sunlily or something else suitably hippie-esque. Whenever there’s downtime (or whenever the rest of the party is also dicking around, and she can get away with it), Rapunzel likes to go into the nearest forest and pick the best berries and nuts for the rest of the party. She also loves baking fruit pies and cooking the best nymph food for her companions when given the chance. Definitely the party Cinnamon Roll (every party has one!). She often will turn into cute animals to distract the guards while the party infiltrates a building.

Merida’s character is the party archer and general ranged weapon master, as well as a raging lesbian. Hiccup learns very quickly that any male NPC who tries to flirt with her will very quickly get impaled with an arrow. She can’t ever decide if she wants to be a ranger or a rogue, so she multiclasses in both for flare. She also plays a Tiefling, and continually insists that her character is both scarier and sexier than Jack’s. In combat, she either Leeroy Jenkins her way in with a sword and just starts slashing every which way, or just shoots 90% of the enemies with arrows before the fight even starts. There’s really no in between. She can get away with this because she’s highkey one of the party tanks, and consistently deals a shitton of damage.

Anna plays a human bard, basically having read over the class options and going “Wait, in this one I get to make stylish medieval music??? And wear dramatic and garish outfits and a dumb hat??? And cast wacky illusion spells??? And do silly little magic tricks??? And INSPIRE EVERYONE??? Hell yeah, I’m in!!!” She mostly uses magic attacks in combat (definitely favors Tasha’s Hideous Laughter), but occasionally when she’s out of spell slots she’ll just take to slamming enemies in the face with her lute. She also has WAY too much fun with Vicious Mockery, let’s be real.

Elsa, upon hearing Jack’s character concept, rolls her eyes so far up in her head she can see her damn brain, and vows to play his concept, but serious–solely out of spite. She rolls up a super OP elf Chaos Sorcerer, filled with lots of brooding angst about how uncontrollable her winter powers can get if she isn’t careful. She combines it a bit with Storm Sorcerer so she can create literal blizzards, and Hiccup ends up allowing it just because he thinks it’s cool. Although Elsa’s character is undoubtedly aggravated by the rest of the party’s antics, she starts becoming grudgingly protective of these idiots and can deal some pretty crazy damage when her companions are threatened. She also contains one of the party’s only brain cells.

Eugene of course plays dashing rogue master thief Flynn Rider. Although his high deception and lockpicking skills certainly come in handy, he’s the most chaotic neutral fucker you’ve ever met and will take any excuse to rob NPCs blind or cheat them out of every cent they have in a tavern card game. It’s nigh impossible to get him to cooperate with the rest of the party much of the time, and often Elsa’s character has to either bribe him with some of her family’s gold or threaten to freeze him to stop him backstabbing one or more party members. Eugene’s character forces Hiccup to add in many more heist plotlines than he originally intended. This delights Eugene immensely, and sometimes he goes a bit crazy planning elaborate heists.

Moana plays a sorcerer water genasi. She can control any body of water, but she has a special affinity for controlling saltwater (i.e. the ocean lol). She also requests an animal handling bonus, but only with marine animals, solely because she thought it would be funny. She’s also an ex-pirate who robbed a lot of wealthy merchant ships and freed their slaves back in the day, which Merida thinks is incredibly badass. Moana tends to get bored and unengaged when there are no bodies of water to play around with, so Hiccup ends up having to add a lot more lakes, rivers, and oceans to the campaign than he originally planned on. Moana also takes a sailing skill, and thus the party often ends up traveling by boat. Typically Eugene and Rapunzel will infiltrate and hijack it, and Moana will sail it. Moana probably contains the party’s only other brain cell.

Astrid plays a gigantic berserker orc barbarian who is never without his trusty axe. Astrid is hands down the party’s top tank, and unquestionably deals the most damage every combat session. Much like Merida’s character, Astrid’s character is absolutely a shameless power fantasy. Hiccup pretty easily picks up on this, but is too polite to say anything about it. Jack also picks up on this, but is hardly as courteous as their DM, and teases Astrid mercilessly. Astrid is not amused.

Rapunzel requests that her weapon of choice be a frying pan, her justification being that her character found a discarded one at the edge of a human village outside her woods and mistaked it for a highly-dangerous human weapon. Hiccup is like “…you know what? Fuck it” and rolls up stats for a goddamn frying pan. Jack has nigh-endless admiration for Rapunzel for choosing such a goddamn memey, absurd, yet oddly effective weapon and it definitely makes the poor boy even more smitten with her than he already is.

Eugene and Merida have a bet going on who can sleep with more sexy barmaids. Merida is currently winning, much to Eugene’s chagrin. She’s not even inherently better at seducing NPCs, she and Eugene have the same charisma stat–she just consistently rolls better than Eugene. Eugene is incredibly salty about this.

Anna and Elsa want to be sisters in-game as well, but neither want to change their race–so Anna decides her character was adopted. Hiccup and the rest of the party go along with it, mainly because there’s something deeply hilarious about a regular human bard being adopted and raised by a family of high-powered elf ice mages.

Astrid is absolutely the sort of player who tends to get bored and restless outside of fights, and tends to fidget and twiddle her thumbs waiting for the next combat session. Jack picks up on this, and purposely does more roleplay for longer just to piss her off. He’s also just a very dramatic fucker and highkey loves roleplay.

When she’s not causing mayhem around the town or sleeping with hot women, Merida tries to entertain Astrid between combat sessions by offering to spar with her. Unfortunately, this does not usually end well for poor Merida, as even the most hardcore and badass of tieflings is prone to getting dumpstered by an 8-foot-tall barbarian orc with an axe. Astrid is, nonetheless, grateful to have someone to fight.

Rapunzel, Elsa, and Moana will humor Hiccup and attempt to actually play the main plot. Meanwhile, Jack, Merida, and Eugene are a DM’s worst nightmare. They constantly derail the damn campaign to fuck around, cause mayhem, and do inane shenanigans in every. Damn. Town. They go to. Anna is kind of a wildcard–she’ll typically go with whatever group looks like they’re going to be doing something more interesting. Astrid will go along with whichever group is more likely to get into a fight–which, often as not, is Jack and his posse of terrible Chaotic Neutrals (who have definitely pissed off a number of NPCs into attacking them).

As the campaign goes on, Elsa and Eugene become the beleaguered Party Mom and Dad. Both are quite aggravated by this–especially poor Eugene, who just wanted to play a morally-gray charming rogue who stole everything and got away with it and then accidentally ended up caring about these idiots he got stuck with.

Anna initially joins the campaign because she has a planet-size crush on Hiccup, and inevitably is the one who dragged Elsa into it too. Being the hopeless romantic that she is, Anna writes a love interest into her backstory. Hiccup eventually has the party run into said love interest, and Anna is overjoyed. He starts flirting with her as the love interest, and it’s easily the best 30 minutes of Anna’s life.

Moana and Elsa also give Hiccup pretty detailed backstories, and he works in little subplots for them. Moana gets to bring water back to a dying part of the jungle in the middle of a draught, while Elsa gets to go on a whole sidequest to explore her family history and how they came to be sorcerers.

Jack, Merida, and Eugene also give Hiccup fairly elaborate backstories, but Jack’s and Merida’s are like 99% memes and Dumb Shit. Hiccup tries to give all of them backstory-related plot hooks, but inevitably any hooks he provides are either stabbed, robbed, or frozen. Honestly any plot hook offered to these 3 will be all but spat in the face of and tossed off a cliff.

The one relevant part of Eugene’s backstory is that he and Rapunzel decide they used to be partners in crime before the campaign started. Rapunzel would infiltrate and scout out places he wanted to rob as small, unobtrusive animals (her preferred Wild Shape is a chameleon) and later distract the guards as a bunny or kitten while he went in and took every gold coin in sight. In return, Flynn Rider would bribe builders to not develop into Sunlily’s forest. Rapunzel and Eugene partly came up with this For Funsies, but also it was Rapunzel’s sneaky way of tricking Eugene into having prior connections in the party so he’d be less likely to betray them. It works pretty well–although the entire party is protective of Cinnamon Roll Sunlily, Flynn is certainly especially protective of her.

Astrid does the absolute bare minimum as far as backstories go. She is literally just here to smash stuff, slice people, and beat some fuckers up.

Rapunzel has a backstory, but she’s typically so invested in the main plot and the other party members that Hiccup rarely needs to bring it in to keep her engaged. She’s highkey the party emotional rock, and probably the only one keeping them all together.

On that note, Rapunzel’s character is the ONLY one who can get Jack’s character to take the plot even REMOTELY seriously. Like he’ll be dicking around in the nearest tavern challenging the nearest orc to a drinking game, and Rapunzel will come in and ask him to help them on a Main Plot Quest. And he’ll be like “come onnnnn I’m having funnn” and she’ll be like “Jack pleeeeeease?” and you just. Can’t resist Sunlily’s puppy dog eyes. At all. Also, whenever Sunlily is genuinely threatened, any silliness immediately goes out the window and Jack Frost is OUT FOR BLOOD.

For better or for worse, Rapunzel is not immune to being looped into Jack’s shenanigans. Occasionally if either Merida or Eugene have a particularly hare-brained scheme she’ll go along with it, but by and large Jack is the most successful in convincing her to temporarily abandon the plot and cause mild mischief with him. They once wasted half a session creating an elaborate “ice theme park” for some squirrels in the forest.

Hiccup tries to get Merida to play the main plot by eventually having there be no more sexy female NPCs to seduce in the towns they go to. Unfortunately, this backfires–Merida just hooks up with Moana’s character instead. When asked to roll for how good the lay is, Merida gets a nat 20–and thus her character and Moana’s character end up hooking up regularly throughout the rest of the campaign.

Hiccup introduces a few Wise Old Mentor-type NPCs to guide the party throughout the campaign. While Rapunzel, Elsa, Moana, and Anna actually try to listen to them and take their advice, Merida, Jack, and Eugene absolutely refuse to take them seriously and mercilessly play pranks on them.

At one point, Hiccup gives the party the option to attempt to tame a group of wild dragons and use them as mounts. They all have to make animal handling checks. Anna, Rapunzel, Elsa, and Moana pass. The rest of the party fails, with Jack and Eugene crit-failing. Hilarity ensues.

Hiccup ends up bringing back Anna’s backstory love interest as an NPC regular. Anna thinks he’s just being a good friend and a good DM and trying to incorporate her backstory as much as he can, but really, he just wants an excuse to regularly flirt with her. He hardly has the balls to out-of-game.

Merida comes out as gay toward the end of the campaign. Everyone in the group is extremely supportive, of course, but everyone is also like “Merida…with the amount of barmaids you’ve banged…and the amount of times you and Moana’s character hooked up…this isn’t exactly surprising.”

Hiccup actually finds a way to use Jack and Elsa’s same-concept-opposite-execution characters to the plot’s advantage. He decides one of the main villains will have a prophecy saying he’ll be taken down by a powerful ice mage. The party manages to fool this guy into thinking this ice mage is Jack, and sends Jack to fight him. As soon as the villain sees Jack, he’s like “WHAT??? THIS clown???” (word has absolutely spread throughout the land of Jack not using his ice powers for anything besides mildly annoying trolling). Naturally, the bad guy lets his guard down after thinking he’s going to fight this literal joke, and then Elsa crashes in from the side and absolutely dumpsters him.

Jack tries to defeat the final boss by just annoying him so much that he leaves. Unfortunately, he just annoys him so much that he attacks Rapunzel’s character. Jack’s just like “oh HELL no” and attacks with absolutely nothing held back. Turns out he’s pretty terrifying when he’s not using his magic for Dumb Antics.

During the final boss of the campaign, the Big Bad tries to one-shot Moana’s character, and Merida’s character super theatrically jumps in front of her to take the blow instead. Rapunzel just barely manages to heal Merida’s character, but it’s a really close call. During all this, Merida is like “ah shit...maybe I’m NOT just in this to get fantasy-laid.” After the fight’s over, her and Moana’s characters have a big dramatic love confession and share a Big Damn Kiss in front of everyone. It’s pretty epic.

After the final session of the campaign, Merida drags Moana outside Jack’s apartment and sputters and trips over her words for a solid minute before she finally gets out that through all this nonsense...well...maybe it’s not just in the game that she thinks Moana is hot. Moana just gets this HUGE grin on her face and says “c’mere, Leeroy Jenkins” and just pulls Merida in and kisses her. Cue the rest of the party barging in on them. Merida and Moana freeze, and there’s a moment of terrified silence...and then the entire party starts cheering them on like “took you long enough!”

The entire rest of the party could detect the sexual tension. Literally all of them.

But Eugene is like “HA, THIS MEANS IF WE DO A SEQUEL CAMPAIGN I’M WINNING THAT BET! BECAUSE YOU’RE GONNA BE DATING MO’S CHAR AND THUS NOT ABLE TO SLEEP WITH ANY MORE BARMAIDS!”

By the epilogue session, Jack and Rapunzel are dating. Merida and Moana are also dating. Hiccup and Anna STILL haven’t figured out why they’re so prone to spending half the session flirting when Anna’s love interest shows up, and Hiccup STILL hasn’t figured out why he likes to have Anna’s love interest show up so often. Bless their souls. Maybe they’ll figure it out next campaign...?

Damn I actually really like this...maybe if people like it I’ll do some incorrect quotes or a drabble or something??? Or maybe some HCs from next campaign???

this is the first part of one of the most glorious series ever. i cannot get enough of how well written the sexual tension is written in each part, the kind that permeates through the screen which makes it magnetic and furthermore a reason this should be on your list! also georgie writes some gorgeous fics so go check those out!

this was one of my most engaging reads of the year. A very interesting post 4x19 fic with a solid plot and enough flangst to refuel your souls. Also who doesn’t enjoy 9 chapters of sleuth bughead with emotional tension and pining.

GOD her wack ass childhood... she lived in little italy, across from where Vito’s family lived (their parents probably knew each other god... cringe moments when you’re forced to hang out while your parents are talking to each other but its ok they’re friends :)) just like the rest of her old gang. Her parents didn’t really want her to hang out with them and gave her a lecture about it like every week, especially when she got into trouble because of them (her brothers got her into trouble too but that’s something different!!). Not that they were really doing anything about it until she got older. They were okay with Mia of course because she’s a girl :/

2018 Fic Year in Review

@perpetuallyvex kindly tagged me in this. Thank you, Vex. I love and miss you and can’t wait to see you in a couple of months xoxo

1. Number of stories (including drabbles) posted to AO3:

I can’t believe it, but in 2018 I posted 13 stories to AO3. It’s the most I’ve ever written and why I am so grateful to have discovered CMBYN. It inspired me to rediscover my love of writing and for that I will always be grateful.

2. Word count posted for the year:

Looking up this number blew my mind because I had no idea it was that much, but I apparently have posted 187,055 words in 2018- what??? That is the most I’ve ever posted, even during my Sherlock fic writing years.

3. List of works published this year (in order of posting):

the feeling still deep down This was the first fic I wrote back in January 2018. Timmy/Armie RPF. It was prompted by discussions in a group chat and became the first installment in my Futile Devices series which is my take on bts vignettes between Timmy’s birthday in 2017 and PSIFF 2018.

Between the Lines co-written with @694699 this fic took on a life of its own. Following the manic success of CMBYN, the boys’ careers are at an all time high.Timmy’s in London, filming The King. Armie’s in New York for his run in Straight White Men. Their friendship as strong as it ever was, they are still being lauded for their work in Italy, directors are fighting over themselves to work with them, they should be on top of the world.So why aren’t they?A peek into their world via all forms of communication.

Between the Lines has 2693 comments, but 6 and I both tried to respond to everything in the beginning, so the numbers may be skewed a bit due to that.

save a prayer received 1665 comments which I think is nothing to sneeze at for a solo act.

9. Work I’m most proud of (and why):

I am definitely most proud of save a prayer. I started that fic with the idea to make it a sexy, cute romp but somewhere along the way, those boys decided they really had some issues to work out. It’s not been an easy ride, but it’s helped me in ways I never saw coming. It was the first Timmy/Armie AU in this fandom, and I’ll always be proud of that.

I’m also really proud of the Futile Devices series. There’s something very pure and ‘true’ about this series.

10. Work I’m least proud of (and why):

It’s not that I’m not proud of them all, but I know there are some that could definitely be better, given more time, but I’ll leave that up to readers to decide.

11. A favorite excerpt of your writing:

“Really? Then tell me, Armie Hammer , these real friends, how many of them know you can’t sleep at night? How many of them know you are scared fucking shitless about this film coming out?” Timmy steps up close, lifting his chin, close enough they are nearly chest to chest. Armie holds his breath. “How many of them know you want to fuck a rentboy while you have him tied up and defenseless? No wonder you’re divorced. Does your ex know what a fucking pervert you are?”

Armie shoves him before he knows what he’s done and Timmy stumbles back, somehow managing to stay upright, his face a study in shock.

Armie is shaking, fighting the urge to hit something. He’s so much bigger, stronger, than Timmy; knows it would take nothing to really hurt him. He doesn’t want Timmy to become his target— a victim in yet another instance of his life— so Armie moves away, shoving his hands in the pockets of his track pants.

He has no idea what to say. There is no response, not an honest one. Everything Timmy said, he knows is somehow the truth. No one knows him. Not really. And he hates it. Armie never meant for it to be this way, unclear exactly how it had— isolated and lonely.

“You’re right. No one knows. I don’t even know how you know.”

Floor to ceiling windows flank the fireplace of Armie’s living room. He makes his way over to stand, looking past his own shallow reflection to the ocean beyond, black and endless.

Armie isn’t sure how long he’s stood there and knows he probably could have stood there forever if Timmy hadn’t spoken up.

“Sorry,” his voice barely loud enough to hear from where Armie stands.

Armie shrugs and looks at Timmy’s reflection behind him in the glass. Their eyes meet before Armie lifts his hand, pressing it against the cool, smooth surface— the only safe way he knows how to touch Timmy.

12. Share or describe a favorite review you received:

Man, they’re all like my children, I can’t pick just one. I do have to say that I’ve never before experienced the kind of feedback and heartfelt messages that I’ve garnered from a lot of my fic. To have people tell me that I’ve inspired them? That they re-read my fics. It’s what every writer dreams of hearing.

13. A time when writing was really, really hard:

The last half of 2018 was hard for me. Health issues, personal issues, fandom issues. It was a tsunami of funk that left me reeling and without the desire to get words on the page. I waffled on the daily on whether to delete everything entirely, whether it was worth the trouble to try and post anything for this fandom anymore. I think I’ve started to turn a page and have listened to friends and supporters, starting now to remember and understand I have to write for myself first. It’s all for the love of whatever I decide to write. That’s what matters most.

14. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you:

Timmy in save a prayer surprised me most. He’s helped me in ways I never imagined.

15. How did you grow as a writer this year:

This is a hard question. I think I’ve learned the value in less is more. Streamlining words for maximum impact. Realising I value substance over flash. I need a story and not just sexy times or that sex isn’t the most integral part of a really well told story. I think, moreso in this fandom than any other I’ve ever been in, that that’s become the case and it’s just not something I’m interested in.

16. How do you hope to grow next year:

I definitely plan on finishing things in 2019. Working on original fic and branching out into other fandoms, maybe. I want to get back to writing for the love of a story. That is a feeling like no other and I miss it.

17. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):

Hands down that would have to be @iknowthebattle. Her unwavering support and guidance and friendship has seen me through some really hard times. But her writing inspires me beyond anything else and I strive with every word I put down to somehow try to live up to her standards. (I never will because, jesus, she’s the real deal)

And of course, I have to steal Vex’s answer here too and say, the READERS. Every last one of you that have messaged me with love and heartfelt support, to keep going, the comments and all the lovely praise, it doesn’t go unread or unnoticed and definitely makes me want to keep writing. Thank you all so very much. <3

18. Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year:

Surprisingly, yes. And I didn’t see it coming when I started it, but save a prayer and Timmy’s struggle became my own as I worked through issues I thought I’d long put behind me.

19. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers:

Cheesy as it sounds- just do it. Who cares if it’s been done before, if it’s a trope we’ve seen a million times? No one has done it the way you will do it. It is true, the more you write, the better you get. Just keep at it. Let life inspire you. Fill the world with your words and love.

20. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year:

I have a couple of ideas and half-formed fics in my drafts that I hope will see the light of day this year. I know I want to finish save a prayer and try to publish it at some point as original fic. But there’s not rush. I’m not sure where I go from here. Timmy/Armie RPF may not be something I write anymore once these fics are finished, so the world is mine for the picking I guess.

That moment when you lowkey stalk an idol’s dad on Twitter to get an idea of how they’d be as a dad

Ok so I feel like Mark is always super responsible when it comes to sex (wrap it before you tap it kids !)

So if you get pregnant it’s most likely because you planned on having one

So really when you missed your period, you weren’t very surprised, in fact you were really excited

You wanted it to be a surprise so you didn’t tell him about it and bought a pregnancy test on your way back from picking up the groceries

But he knew something was going on because you were suddenly so ??? Weirdly happy and giggly ????? He knew you were planning something

Which you were

So Mark had to leave for promotions for about two weeks and you thought this would be the perfect time to do the pregnancy test without looking suspicious

And surprise surprise (not really), it’s positive !!!!!!!!

You have to refrain yourself from texting all your friends and family about it because you want Mark to be the first to know

And the day before he comes back you let him know you have a little surprise for him at home

Needless to say Mark is super excited and lowkey thinking it has something to do with stuff you do in the bedroom

So he’s a little confused when he comes home and you’re in your pajamas reading a book on the couch in the living room

And he doesn’t even notice the huge banner on top of the couch that says “welcome home dad” for a good minute or two

But when he does it takes him about 20 seconds to register the information before he’s smiling and giggling like an idiot because he’s just ???? So happy ????? He can’t wait to start a family with you

He picks up your book and throws it somewhere behind him and pulls you into a warm bear hug and doesn’t let go for 30 minutes

The first person you tell after that is Mark’s dad

You both call him on Skype to tell him the good news and lowkey Raymond is almost tearing up and so are you

Being pregnant doesn’t change much to your relationship tbh

Aside from the fact that he compliments you 198165189164 times more and calls you sexy mama constantly

You could be taking out the trash and he’d find a way to make it look like you’re a model on the runway

Really though the fact that you’re pregnant with his child is somehow really appealing to him

But other than that, Mark is pretty chill with it

Being a dad doesn’t freak him out at all and he’s confident you’ll both do an amazing job

Parenting books ? Prenatal classes ? What are those ? Mark doesn’t know

He’s a “we’ll figure things out once we get there” kind of guy

He also respects your autonomy so he doesn’t feel the need to baby you and he lets you do your things on your own

But if you ask for help because you can’t do something then he’s there in 0.2 seconds

Lowkey wishes it’s a girl but is still very and if not even happier when you find out you’re expecting a boy

And he can’t help but go into stereotypical father-son territory where he already makes plans about teaching your son how to play sports

But then catches himself and says that he’ll also teach him about arts and music if that’s what your kid’s into

I feel like he doesn’t do anything fancy to tell the boys about your pregnancy

In fact they end up finding out on their own when you’re all hanging out and you turn down the drinks they offer

And they’re like ????? You never did that before

And it’s Jackson who just assumes you’re pregnant and yells it so everyone else hears

And lowkey they’re all mad because Mark never told them but he’s just like “the subject never came up”

Because to him it’s just a normal thing that you’re pregnant

A similar thing happens when it’s time to announce to the world that you’re expecting

Like you kinda lay low when the baby bump starts showing so you and Mark are rarely seen together in public anymore, if ever

The fans are concerned and continuously ask Mark on social media

So Mark eventually decides to post an update about you on Twitter, saying everything is fine and that you’re just being careful not to put the baby in dangerous situations

Let’s just say Twitter goes wild that day

But other than that, the pregnancy goes smoothly

He makes fun of your weird cravings all the time too

Anyways

As calm as he was during the pregnancy, when it’s time to give birth it’s a whole other story

You wake him up in the middle of the night to complain about really bad cramps

And they feel nothing like the ones you’ve been experiencing for the past 9 months, this shit’s the real deal

And he’s up and ready in 2 seconds, doesn’t even take the time to get dressed, and he’s already out the door with your hospital bag in hand

Ends up coming back to help you walk to the car but he’s freaking out

Speed limit ? Stop signs ? Red lights ? What are those ? You’re thankful it’s 2AM and no one’s on the road because Mark would’ve caused accidents with his reckless driving

When you arrive at the hospital, he’s still freaking out and nearly causing a scene, nearly shouting at random nurses for help

You end up being the one having to calm him down despite being in so much pain

Eventually someone comes in and brings you to an exam room to determine if labor as begun or if you’re just experiencing Braxton Hickscontractions

Turns out you’re not and the doctor can already feel the baby’s head trying to come out

You’re rushed into the delivery room and Mark has trouble keeping up with everything

Boy does he regret not reading those books Jaebum bought for you because he has no idea what’s happening

He tries his best to stay strong for you because you’re screaming and you’re very obviously in pain

He ends up being completely useless

When morning comes he starts getting phone calls from the other members because he’s missing practice and he loses his temper and just texts them “my son is being born shut the fuck up this is more important”

30 minutes later the whole group is in the hallway in front of your room waiting for it to be over

Mark ends up joining them and by joining them I mean you end up kicking him out of the room because as much as he tries hiding the fact that he’s freaking out, he can’t, and you can’t deal with this shit while you’re pushing out a 15 lbs baby out of your vagina

After what felt like an eternity, he finally hears your baby’s cries and it just sounds like music to his ears

He comes back into the room to see this tiny little thing in your arms and his heart stops beating

You’re sweaty and panting heavily and you look like you’ve been run over by a truck but you’ve never looked so beautiful to him than in this moment

He carefully walks up to you and kneels right next to you, resting his head on the bed and stares at his son in your arms while the boys not-so-sneakily take pictures from the door frame

Mark is lowkey scared to hold him when you ask if he wants to because he’s scared he’s going to break him

But once he holds your son into his arms he doesn’t want to let go

And he shamelessly shows him off to the other boys like “look at this beautiful little thing that I made, isn’t he the most handsome boy you’ve ever seen in your life”

He will forever deny it but he cried when the little boy reached out to touch his face

But the honeymoon cuts short after you bring him home

Not really but Mark is the parent who keeps track of whose turn it is to get up to take care of the baby when he starts crying in the middle of the night

Which is every two hours for the first 6 months, at least

And his job doesn’t allow him to take long breaks so he never really stop doing idol things after your son is born, but he makes sure he’s never away from home for too long at once

If he has to leave the country for a long time, he insists on bringing you both along with him

Wants your son to have a great relationship with his grandparents so once your son grows a bit older, he travels a lot to L.A. with him so he can spend some time with Papa and Mama Tuan

I can see Papa Tuan tweeting about his grandson a lot whenever he visits, never missing an opportunity to roast Mark by making it look like your son is already better than him at everything

The fans love it because it’s so cute

As a dad, I feel like Mark is really chill and he respects your son’s opinions, personality and most importantly his privacy

I feel like he’s also very open to talk about anything to him and always answers his questions no matter how many he’s asking

And he’s very honest with him

6-year-old son : “Dad, how are babies made ?”

Mark : “Babies happen when a man and a woman have unprotected sex”

6-year-old son : “What’s sex ?”

You, shouting from the other room : “Something you should only do with someone you love after you marry them !!!!!!”

Mark : *dies of laughter* “Funny you say that since we we weren’t married when—”

You : “Finish that sentence and I’ll make sure marriage never happens”

I also feel like Mark would try his best to make sure he never witnesses when you guys are fighting

And you both mutually agreed that if there’s something that needs to be talked about, it has to be done in private with the doors closed and no shouting

He also doesn’t hold back with the affection he gives you when your son is around so he can grow up knowing what a healthy relationship looks like

I feel like he’s all in for your son experiencing life on his own but he does have some boundaries that if your son happens to cross, things aren’t gonna be so pretty

But your son has so much respect for his dad that the idea of testing his limits never really crosses his mind

In his teenage years your son thinks Mark is embarrassing but literally all his friends think he’s really cool

Mark will forever stay young at heart so it’s easy for him to connect to his son’s friends

Overall Mark would be an amazing dad, and if he ever has problems I feel like he wouldn’t hesitate to ask his own dad for advice

@hollyand-writes tagged me in the writer process meme (thanks!), so let’s get to it. Even though Hellbeast 2 managed to briefly break my keyboard partway through this, so presumably he’s trying to prevent some kind of terrible, meme related catastrophe.

Short stories, novels, or poems?

Short stories, short stories, short stories. I have no patience to write anything longer than a brief one shot these days. I occasionally dabble in poetry, and I’ve written longer form things in the distant past.

What genre do you prefer reading?

At this point, I’m pretty sure I read fanfic the most. Outside of that, I find it’s difficult for me to enjoy any one genre; I want to like fantasy and mystery and horror, but picking books up randomly within genres doesn’t tend to work out for me. I’ll be like this looks interesting! based on the cover and blurb, and then two chapters in it’s all boob plate sexy bathing, and I’m done.

What genre do you prefer writing?

Does fanfic count? Look, I’m a lazy writer. I don’t want to world build. I enjoy some parts of it, but the overall scale is more than I want to deal with. I want to make a cool looking map, not actually think about how rivers work. Also, I enjoy writing one shots, and that really works best with characters and settings people are already familiar with.

If I have to pick a different genre, unreality. You can’t argue the rules of reality when reality isn’t the same.

Are you a planner or a write-as-I-go kind of person?

Write as I go, mostly. I usually have a rough idea of what I want - usually a few specific sentences, an overall plot - but I don’t make outlines or anything like that. My most well received fics have always been the ones where I do 0 planning and haven’t even considered writing them until that day.

What music do you listen to while writing?

I don’t have any specific playlists or even a consistent stance on music while writing. Sometimes I just keep whatever I’m looping in the background going, sometimes I turn it off entirely. Once I tried using one of those ambient setting playlists but got distracted by it instead.

Fave books/movies?

Books-wise, I love The Hogfather and Good Omens. Movies is a little harder, because I legitimately forget most movies within two weeks, but Constantine is my go-to (possibly mainly for the angel and demon depictions, but that’s not the point).

Any current WIPs?

My endlessly in limbo Merribela one, Sten directly after becoming Arishok, Mahariel visiting Merrill post DA2, Mahariel and the one time she tried blood magic (without being a mage)... My WIPs are numerous and doomed to never be released.

If someone were to make a cartoon out of you, what would your standard outfit be?

A cute dress and black flats outside of work, scrubs and sneakers inside.

Half of my hair is in a ponytail so off center that it’s basically a pigtail, but rather than commit, the other half is nominally held back by a bobby pin. Mosquitos loom. A sapling conks me on the shoulder.)

In seriousness, a wash. Dress that suggests going somewhere nice but with untamed hair and no makeup that suggests staying home. Soft spoken and polite but prone to swearing and absolutely confrontational when pushed. Comes across hyper competent and intelligent but actually only remembers things to keep out of trouble and is completely forgetful about everything else.

Do you like incorporating people you actually know into your writing?

Nooooo. I am super no about that. I generally try to not even know who voices the characters in games I play, because that means there is a real person attached to them (in a way, even though I mean obviously there always is - even without a voice, someone(s) wrote them), and I cannot do anything that even remotely veers into real person fic. And that’s for people that I know only as a concept, a theory of personality based on public appearances. A person I actually know? Jesus fuck no.

Are you kill-happy with characters?

Nope. I want them all to be happy. If a character dies in canon, they’ll probably stay dead in my writing, but I usually don’t write much about that.

Coffee or tea while writing?

Neither. Soda all the way.

Slow or fast writer?

Fast typer who occasionally gets caught up on a specific line and will stop for a while to rework it. I also works in spurts; I’ll go months at a time without publishing anything, then abruptly write and share three things within two weeks.

Where/who/what do you find inspiration from?

For actual inspiration, recent personal experiences, mostly. It’s not necessarily always obvious what did it though (the Mahariel talking to Zevran about why he lived fic, for instance, came from a night I spent at a campfire in the mountains, because the embers and the smoke were things I hadn’t experienced in a long time, but you wouldn’t know that).

Otherwise, prompts mostly. Lazy lazy, prefer to have a premade idea (or sentence or feeling or whatever) to spark an actual idea.

If you were put into a fantasy world, what would you be?

I mean, probably dead. Confrontational dumbfuck with extremely poor eyesight walks directly into dragon attacking town while shouting profanities, promptly gets incinerated.

Most fave book cliche? Least fave book cliche?

Yay equally competent characters caring for each other and falling in love. Boo heavy sexualization.

Fave scenes to write?

I actually prefer writing dialogue. I usually end up writing it first, because it flows much more naturally for me, and then going back and filling in around it.

Most productive time of day for writing?

I would love to say night, because that’s when I’m awake 95% of the time, but I feel like most of my fics are written between like 8AM to 12PM, bleary eyed and exhausted.

Reason for writing:

Words fun. Explore new concepts. Flesh out scenes that can’t make it into a necessarily shortened game. Create art without having to draw, which I personally suck at.

I have no idea how many people I’m actually supposed to tag, nor do I remember exactly who hollyand tagged, so a random sampling of people who can do this if they want: @carabas, @mikkeneko, @thejourneymaninn, @emberkeelty, and @deviantdragons.

My Coldflash Fic Masterpost

Lightning Hot (Your Coffee, That Is) (20/20 | 61,665 words | Explicit | Complete | Part 1 of the Break the ice Between Us Series)

"So... what's your name?" Barry asked, indicating to the yellow ID badge on the guy's dark grey shirt, decorated with a smiling coffee cup and the words 'I'm new, ask me my name'. The guy looked down at said badge as if it was the bane of his existence. There was a tense second where Barry considered just backing up and taking his seat again to drown himself in his coffee before the guy looked back up and responded.

"Len," he said simply and Barry's grin turned a little less nervous.

Barry had given up trying to get over his feelings for Iris when he walked into Jitters one morning and was stunned silent by the cute new barista. Maybe this guy could finally be the one to help Barry move on.

“Freeze,” Barry heard Len drawl over the comms as he arrived with Lisa at the jewellery store. Len was decked out in his superhero outfit while pointing his cold gun at the thief and Lisa, quick to recover from being carried at superspeed, lifted her gold gun at the man as well.

“Why don’t you be as good as gold and drop that bag,” she quipped.

“Is that ice really worth your freedom?” Len continued and Barry sighed as the robber looked frantically between Golden Glider and Captain Cold, his hand twitching towards the gun on his belt.

“Do you have to do this every time?” Barry muttered at the same time that Cisco piped up over the comms with: “do they remind anyone else of Team Rocket or is it just me?”

Just as his relationship with Len begins to settle, a meta-human with a personal grudge against Barry forces him to face his fears or risk losing everyone that he loves.

Flashpoint (28/39 | 117,789 words | Explicit | WIP)

At first, Barry’s new world seemed perfect: His mother and father were alive and happy in this new timeline and it was everything he’d ever wanted since he was eleven years old. But he soon realised that the cracks he’d created in time could have deadly consequences. And when his meddling through time inevitably gets undone, Barry seeks out the arms of the man he'd fallen in love with: Leonard Snart. But that might prove to be easier said than done.

Not so Happily Ever After (1/1 | 7,742 words | Teen | Complete)

He allowed himself to look over at Barry. The younger man was huddled close to the fire and seeking as much warmth as he could get from the small flames. For a moment, only a moment, Len thought about offering to huddle together for more heat. But he shut that thought down quickly. He couldn’t allow himself to indulge in naïve fantasies. Barry, unaware of Len’s attention on him, was staring into the flames. The warm yellow light flickered across his face and highlighted his features beautifully. The kid really was a sight to behold…

Or the fic where Barry and Len get trapped inside a fairy tale book, without powers or the cold gun, and have to work together to get free. Lots of thievery ensures as well as an unfortunately timed sleeping curse.

Ice to Meet You (1/1 | 10,411 words | Teen | Complete | Awaiting Sequel)

He looked from Barry’s mark to his own, examining them for differences. But there were none. They were in the exact same place, the exact same colour, exact same shape. They were identical. For a moment, Len couldn’t think. He was completely side-lined. But then Barry started laughing and it drew Len’s attention. Barry (Len’s soulmate!) had the happiest grin on his face. His eyes were sparkling with it. Boy… if he knew what he had just stumbled into then he would not be laughing.

Or the meta!Len soulmates AU that no one asked for. Filled with puns, mischief, and a certain thief’s attempts at wooing Barry Allen using his cryokinetic powers.

Falling Fast (1/1 | 17,497 words | Explicit | Complete | Awaiting Potential Sequel)

“There are some rules, of course. Lisa will fill you in on those while I’m gone. If you’re willing to agree to them, then hang around for a while. Get to know the crew. And come back tomorrow with your answer, 10 pm sharp. If you’re not on time, then I’ll take it as a no.” Leonard had been moving towards the door and when he got there he turned to look back at Barry, his eyes roamed up and down Barry’s body for a moment which made the younger man blush and his heart quicken. “And that would be a shame,” Leonard drawled. Barry nodded and swallowed thickly as his mouth became suddenly dry from the fire in Leonard’s eyes. “I hope to see you tomorrow, Barry,”

When Barry wakes up from his coma with superspeed he is asked to go undercover in the Rogues, an elite team of metahuman criminals who are hell-bent on the destruction of the new metahuman laws. He agrees and everything is going well at first… except Barry hadn’t planned on being so attracted to Captain Cold.

You Stole My Heart (14/14 | 45,674 words | Explicit | Complete | Awaiting Potential Sequel)

There is a new thief in Central City, someone who can move at extraordinary speeds, and Len can’t help but be intrigued by his new competition

“The name’s Captain Cold. And I’d love to stay and catch up,” Len drawled, stepping away. “But I really have to run. See you around, Kid.”

“What? I don’t get a codename?” The speedster muttered and Len noticed a smile on his face. Good. This would be more fun if they were both enjoying the game.

“If you want a cool nickname, then you’ve got to earn it, Kid.” Len, knowing he only had another 53 seconds until the ice-like substance around the speedster’s feet became pliable enough for him to break free, turned on his heel and strode out of the building with the diamond necklace in his gloved hand.

Commander Cold (1/1 | 9,625 words | Teen | Complete)

Cisco was sitting in front of the computers with his back to Len, as usual, as Barry hovered around in front of the engineer. Except, right now Barry currently had dark blond hair and was dressed in a blue parka with a version of the cold gun attached to his thigh. The younger man looked over at Len in the doorway and his big eyes went wide.

"Are you mocking me, Barry?" Len drawled, raising an eyebrow in question and trying not to laugh at the image of the Flash dressed as a supervillain.

The team are surprised to find a time traveller from the future that shares a striking resemblance to one Barry Allen. But… if he is the Flash’s son… then why is he wearing Captain Cold’s gear?

Waverider Blues (1/1 | 5,305 words | Mature | Complete) Collaboration with Aquafolie

The latest mission landed the Legends in search of a diamond that might be able to win them the war against Savage. Unfortunately, it's not all smooth sailing and after lifting the rock, Len is left hallucinating his so-called ‘unclaimed secret desires’. Except, he didn’t have anything like that in his heart. Len was a thief; if he wanted something then he took it, consequences be damned.

So then, why was a vision of Barry Allen haunting his every waking minute?

I Think I Love You (1/1 | 3,081 words | Teen | Complete | Awaiting Sequel) Collaboration with Aquafolie

When struck by a metahuman’s abilities, Barry suddenly, and uncontrollably, can only speak in songs. To save him the embarrassment, everyone agrees that he should be left alone for a while… at least until the effects have worn off. Captain Cold, however, didn’t get the memo.

Or the time when Barry accidentally serenades Len.

When Barry and Len swap bodies while on a date, they choose to hide it so that their relationship can remain a secret.

“We didn’t even know you were interested in anyone, Barry,” Caitlin smiled. Yeah, Len thought, there’s a reason for that. He was about to give a generic answer when an idea came to him and he had to resist the urge to smirk, knowing it would look odd on Barry’s lips.

“Oh, yeah, you’d love him,” Len said, talking himself up. “He’s smart, funny, rich, sexy… body like a God.”

Only days after stealing the cold gun, Leonard Snart is tracked down by an ex-girlfriend and discovers that he is the father to a little 5-year-old girl with meta powers. Barry is surprised to see Captain Cold show up on his doorstep this Halloween, his heart beating fast as he worries that Snart has discovered his identity. But that night, Barry sees a new side of Leonard that he never thought was possible.

Len finds himself a hostage at a bank, but money doesn’t seem to be what the robbers are interested in. Though they didn’t plan on Captain Cold being there, nor that he would be so eager to help the Flash out in his hour of need.

After the Oculus exploded, Len didn’t die. Instead, he got spat out on a random stretch of dirt in the late ’80s. By the time his team showed up only a couple of days had passed for him, but it had been considerably longer for everyone else. Sara and Mick fill him in on what he’s missed over the last couple of years, but some things are easier to learn about than others and an unexpected visit from Barry Allen forces Len to finally face his feelings head-on.

Barry had the worst luck. All he’d wanted to do was ask Snart for a favour but, somehow, he’d stumbled his way into a Rogues meeting, and now Barry found himself stuck in a bar, surrounded by his enemies, with Captain Cold of all people as his only friend. What could go wrong?

Len knew the second that he saw Lisa approach what she would think; Barry was just too open, too caring, too tactile. And Len was letting Barry get away with it all. He knew what that would look like; but he also knew that going along with this little lie, letting his Rogues all believe that he and Barry were dating – no matter how absurd that idea might be – was the best way of getting Barry out of there with his secret identity unscathed… So, the Rogues were drinking with the Flash tonight. No big deal.

When it suddenly became a regular occurrence, however… well, that's when things started getting a little more complicated.

Set during and after ‘Revenge of the Rogues’.

Following his and Mick’s public loss against the Flash, Len finds his soulmate in the most unlikely of people: unassuming CSI, Barry Allen. All Len wants to do now is get to know his soulmate, whereas all Barry wants is a stiff drink… if only it would work on him. Navigating their new relationship can be difficult at times – especially with the secret of Barry’s identity hanging over their heads – but they’re determined to make it work.

Just for One Night (6/6 | 55,138 words | Explicit | Complete) Collaboration with Meetmelastfriday

Len gets his first real glimpse at who Barry Allen actually is beneath that cowl and is surprised to find that he likes what he sees. However, Barry is so on-edge at the thought of his upcoming fight with the Reverse Flash that Len thinks he could do with some good, no-strings-attached, stress release. The thing is, Barry doesn’t really do ‘no-strings-attached’, and Len comes to realise that – when it comes to Barry Allen – perhaps he doesn’t do that anymore either.

It Wouldn’t Be Terrible by @tnlph

This is an oldie, but I re-read it and fell in love all over again, so it had to make the list. Killian and Emma as best friends is a trope I will never, ever get over and this take on it, where she’s forgotten that she married him is maybe the most epic version I’ve read yet. Re-reading this I realised just how inspired I am by @tnlph in my own writing. Embarrassingly so, but yeah, their fics are always great.

I Will Learn to Let You Go by @lifeinahole27

Oh wow, I adore this, it’s so tragic and stunning. I don’t know how to feel about the fact that I almost wished Graham, who I love, dead. She takes the old soulmates trope and turns it on its head in a really cool way. (And now there’s a second chapter to flail over and IT IS GLORIOUS!!!*)

*I always hear this in the Cyber King voice in my head. I have no idea if anyone will get that reference, but if you do, I salute you!

The 12 Tropes of Christmas by @lovethatshit

Carly’s back with another awesome and utterly hilarious fic. It’s embarrassing how much I love this, she skewers every festive meet cute/set up ever while also building this charming romantic story. Write more fics lady, they’re all amazing!

Genuinely the most Christmassy of CS Christmas fics there likely will ever be. This is so smart and sweet, basically perfection in a red leather jacket.

Sex=weird, no? by @swanisma

I am continually inspired by the CS community and the reactions to Carrie Fisher's passing were utterly beautiful. This (100% Captain Swan) fic is as witty as Carrie herself and is a lovely tribute to the icon that we'll all sadly miss.

Make You Feel Good by @phiralovesloki

Genderbending CS smut that is realistic, romantic and sexy as hell. I can't say much more without spoiling it, but this is a really unique bit of smutty goodness and it's a fabulous read.

Christmas Roses by @justanotherwannabeclassic

So, way back when Shea released the final part of Roses in December there was a throwaway line about Christmas and my festive-o-meter kicked into overdrive and I made her a Christmas photoset for her fic.. Like you do. Roll on December and she produces this masterpiece that is everything I could've dreamed of (plus a little bit more.) Her prose is pure poetry that's like a hug straight to the heart. Love it, love it, love it.

Renegades by @mahstatins

When an author’s words can causes me to do multiple flails and melodramatic heart clutching, I’d say their fic has earned a spot on my list. It’s high drama, but in a way that feels really organic and the dynamic between Killian and Emma is k i l l i n g me. I actually did a little melodramatic heart clutch just now, just thinking about what happened in the last chapter. It’s that good. I’m so excited for more.

It had to be her, didn’t it? Warming our hearts with her series of adorable Christmas fics in the run up to the big day. It's such a lovely sweet idea and the stories are so varied that it never got old.. I'd happily have had another 24!

My favourite of the fics? New Tales from the Old Forest an adorable story featuring Killian as a famous author whose stories may sound a little familiar. But it really is a tough call. I love thinking that next year I’ll have this CS advent calendar to look forward to, exciting, hey?!
