Rating: M for mature - 18+ only!
Warnings: Please be aware there is an 11 year age gap. Mature themes and some canon mentioned. Just like ao3, “creator chooses not to use warnings.” If you click Keep Reading, that means you agree that you’re the age to handle mature themes. Also by clicking Keep Reading, you understand warnings may not be complete in order to avoid spoilers for the story.
Notes: Well, we've finally reached the end! I'm so sorry this took forever to get out. I really do love these 2 and would welcome any asks about them! When the story starts, Vanessa is 19 and Javier is 30 but in this part, Javier is 36 and Vanessa is 25.
**Shoutout to @vanemando15 for listening and bouncing ideas from me, and for her guidance with being a Latina herself. Without her, this wouldn’t even be a thing, just another line on my WIP spreadsheet. And also to my husband, who is also Latino and answered any questions I had (along with taking me to Colombia back in 2014). And to @wyn-n-tonic, who listened to my rambles and insecurities about writing an oc in first person.

<<Chapter 3<<
Tumblr media
I don't see him until lunch the next day as he and Chucho had run into town for a few things. They both come in with some grocery bags and set them on the counter.
"They were out of broccoli so I got green beans. Will that work?" Chucho asks as he hands me a bag of fresh cut green beans.
I take them with a smirk. "Why do I get the feeling they weren't out and you just didn't want to eat the broccoli?"
"She's got you there, pops." Javier chuckles as Chucho punches his arm.
"Pendejo."
"Alright, alright. Get cleaned up and I'll make you both some lunch. Extra broccoli for you, old man."
Chucho hides a smile, grumbling as he heads upstairs to his bathroom. Javier stays in the kitchen with me, helping to unload the bags.
"New relaxation thing?" I raise my eyebrows at him.
"What?"
I gesture towards his mouth. "The chewing gum."
"Oh. Nope. Giving up the other one. I'm trying the Nicorette thing."
I close the refrigerator door and look at him. "Really?"
He shrugs. "It's a nasty habit, or so I'm told."
I turn away from him quickly, trying to hide the warmth creeping up at face at his use of my words.
"Well that person must be very smart to say that."
"I think so."
-------
I don't find the time to tell him the next day. Or the next. Or the next. Despite having a lot of chances to. Javier always finds his way to me around the house, chatting and asking me questions. I try to ask him some too, but his eyes grow dark and distant and he shuts in on himself, no doubt recalling the horrors of his time pursuing Escobar. I stop asking.
"Vanessa! We have to go or we'll be late to Danny's wedding!" Chucho yells up the stairs at me, just as I'm putting on my mascara.
"I'll be right down!" I take one last look at myself in the mirror, smoothing down my dress. It was bold, for me anyway. Spaghetti straps and a form fitting dress that stops just above my knee, a lacy slip over top of it all that's long sleeved. It's a dark green color, always one of my favorites. I'm not sure it's entirely wedding appropriate, but it's the only thing that I liked that fit me decent enough. My hair is down and loosely curled and I turn my head back and forth to make sure the bounce had stayed.
I grab my clutch and head downstairs. Chucho stands at the foot of the stairs, smiling at me.
"You look beautiful, Vanessa."
"You're just saying that so I won't make broccoli next week."
He chuckles and gives me a hug. "You caught me. Oh, when's Alex back?"
"Next week."
"Pops, we have to get going or we'll..." Javier comes walking back inside the front door, red flannel shirt tucked into tight jeans that hug his body in all the right ways. He stares at me, his eyes moving up and down my body until Chucho elbows him in the stomach.
"Fuck! You uh..you look uh nice, Vanessa."
"Nice?" Chucho says, chuckling in disbelief. "I thought you knew how to talk to women." He heads out the door, leaving Javier and I standing in the entry.
"You look really..handsome." I manage to choke out at Javier. "Now come on. Your dad will kill us if we're late."
I move to hop in the truck and then realize the stick shift will need to be right between my legs if I wanted to ride in the front.
"I'll get in the back," Javier speaks into my ear.
"No you won't. The bed is dirty and I will not have my son walking into church covered in-"
Javier puts his hands up. "Ok, ok. We'll figure it out."
I get in, taking Javier's offered hand to help me up into the cab. I slide across the bench, looking down at the gear shift as Javier slides in next to me. I try to move my legs but there's nowhere for them to move to.
"Tuck them next to my leg." I look up at Javier, the closest I've been to him since that night.
"Are you s-sure?"
"Yeah. I won't bite." I swear he mumbles "Unless you want me to" under his breath but maybe I'm projecting.
We make it to the church on time. Well, early actually as Chucho wanted "a good seat." We get out of the truck and to my surprise, Javier offers me his arm again. I take it, using him to help me out of the cab, smoothing down my dress when I finally plant my feet on the ground. But he doesn't let go, doesn't drop my arm, letting me choose if I wanted to hold onto him or not. I link my arm further in his, noting the small smile he's fighting to contain on his face.
I am very glad I chose to hold onto him. Not just because his touch is electrifying my body, but because the ground in the dirt parking lot is very uneven, the last rainstorm having put in several large potholes and what feels like millions of smaller ones. Javier saved me from falling right in the mud more than a few times. When we finally make it to the pavement, he still doesn't drop my arm, looking down at me with raised eyebrows, silently asking me what I'd like to do.
"Oh no. I'm attached now. If you let me go, I'll fall on my butt I know it."
He chuckles and covers my hand with his large one, engulfing mine. "I got you, baby."
We say our hello's to everyone as we enter and I feel Javier tense next to me at the amount of attention he's starting to receive. Many people wanting to shake his hand and tell them how proud they are of him, that he's a hero. He smiles, although it doesn't reach his eyes, and thanks them, shaking their hands with his free one. This happens several times on our way to the pew Chucho wanted and after the third time, I place my free hand over his, giving it a light squeeze. I can feel him relax into me slightly as the man in front of us thanks him yet again. But as the next person approaches, I cut them off.
"Juan, it's so nice to see you, but we need to sit. These shoes weren't made for real feet," I chuckle and nod my head towards my feet. "I swear if Javier weren't escorting me I'd be taking these things off or fallen on my rear end by now."
"Oh! Yeah go sit. See you later, Javs!"
We finally make it to our row and Javier gestures for me to go ahead. I make my way in, sitting down as Javier slides in next to me.
"Hey, thanks." He speaks quietly so only I can hear him.
"Yeah of course. Anytime."
Shortly after, the ceremony starts and Javier places his arm across the pew behind me and I will myself to not blush and just pretend like I'm focusing on the sermon, the priest now saying something about love and devotion in marriage or..something. I have no clue as I feel Javier stretch a little and slide a little closer to me in the pew, our hips almost touching.
The reception was beautiful, music starting up a bit later while everyone was eating. We finish eating and Javier turns to me, mischief in his eyes.
"Dance with me?" His hand is outstretched towards me and I take it without hesitation.
"Do you know how?" I ask as he pulls me to my feet.
"Do you?"
"Fair question."
He escorts me onto the dance floor, placing his hand confidently on my hip, the other taking my hand. The music starts and he spins us around, our feet moving together to the beat. His eyes are on me and mine on his, the air between us igniting with something that we felt 6 years ago.
That realization jolts me back to the present and I move my head next to his, looking over his shoulder. I really need to tell him. I catch sight of a blonde woman, about Javier's age, giving me a really nasty look. But then the songs ends and Javier pulls back.
"Thirsty?"
"Yeah."
We head back to the table and sit, several more people coming up to shake Javier's hand and tell him how proud they were, that he's a hero, all of it. I can see that far away look in his eyes, like he's here but not here. His eyes lock on something across the room and he leans towards Chucho and me.
"I'll be right back."
I watch him walk across the room towards the blonde woman who had given me such a nasty look earlier.
"Who is that?" I lean over to Chucho, nodding towards them. He glances up before looking back down at his plate of food.
"Lorraine. His ex."
"Oh. They serious?"
He takes a bite of his food and chews. "They were. But that was maybe 10 years ago?"
"Hhm.. how serious?"
"Well, they were going to get married."
"Oh."
Chucho looks at me and leans in. "He left her though. The day of."
"The day of...the wedding??"
"Not one of his best moments. But he was young and scared. And stupid."
I look over at them, a man now walking up to them and putting his arm around Lorraine.
"Well she seems to have done alright."
"Yeah. Married some banker or real estate guy or something. Seems happy. Couple of kids."
"Should you have told me this?"
Chucho gestures around at the room. "Everyone here was there that day. They all know. It's not a secret."
I nod, turning to look back at them when I see Javier turn, his hand doing that thing where it opens and closes, his bottom lip worrying slightly into his teeth. He stops a few steps away from Lorraine and looks back, watching as she picks up her kids and animatedly talks to them. When he turns back around, his face is full of regret and want, but I don't know if it's about her or the kids, his almost family. He walks through the room and out the back door.
"I'll be right back."
I get up and cross the room, heading out the door Javier did. I look around and see him sitting on a bench under a tree several feet out from the reception room. He pulls out some gum from his pocket and stuffs it in his mouth, his jaw chewing furiously. I walk up to him and he looks up at me, his eyes sad.
"Can I sit?" I ask, gesturing to the space next to him on the bench. He nods at the space, leaning back to put his arm across the back of the bench behind me.
"Thank you," I say to him after several moments.
He looks at me. "For what?"
"For...everything. I know you must have had to do some things you aren't proud of in order to catch a very bad man. I can't imagine how that must weigh on you, make you feel like you don't deserve praise. But you worked so hard and they took that ending away from you which was, excuse my language, very fucked up of them and you didn't deserve that no matter what you did, and I just....thank you."
His eyes bore into mine, shifting emotions behind them. Anger, regret, fear, disappointment in himself, disbelief, but then something else. Something softer as he focuses on me. His hand comes up to cup my face and I lean into it, loving the feel of his calloused hands on my skin. He leans in towards me, his eyes shifting down to my lips, his breath fanning out over my face.
"Wait. I have to tell you something, Javier."
"Can you tell me after we make out?"
Can I? No. No, Vanessa.
"I really think I need to tell you first."
He pulls back and it looks like it costs him a ton of effort, just like it did me to tell him to stop. He puts his hand on his lap and watches me, waiting for me to continue.
"Do you remember when I told you that Alex's dad had important things to do? And you thought he was giving me a line?"
He nods. "Yeah..."
"What if...what if that were you?"
He furrows his eyebrows together, confused. "If what were me?"
"If you had gone off to Colombia or were going off and you found out you'd gotten some girl pregnant?"
"I would have come home or not gone."
"Yeah, but wouldn't you resent them just a little for robbing you of this opportunity?"
He scoffs. "They would've saved me a lot of shit."
"You know that now. But then?"
He thinks for a moment. "I don't know. I can't say I wouldn't have been disappointed."
"Don't you think your kid would pick up on that?"
"I...I don't know. I didn't consider....Vanessa?"
I swallow down the tears that are fighting to escape my body. "Yeah?"
"How old is Alex?"
I take a deep breath and look him in the eyes. "6."
It takes him a few moments, probably doing the math in his head. But then his eyes widen and he pulls his arm from around me, scooting back a little.
"6?"
"Yeah."
He shifts on the bench. "Is he...who's his dad?"
I can't help the one tear that falls from my eyes. "Y-you are."
He looks at me before abruptly standing, pacing back and forth, his hand on his hip and the other pinching the bridge of his nose.
"I'm his dad? Me? Are you sure?"
"I've only ever been with you."
He scoffs. "It's been 6 years, Vanessa. You haven't fucked anyone in 6 years?" He stops to look at me and sees the truth in my face.
"I've gone on some dates, but nothing ever happened."
"You expect me to believe that?"
"I can only tell you the truth, I can't make you believe it."
He laughs angrily, finally stopping in front of me, glaring down at me.
"Why didn't you fucking tell me?"
"I-"
"Did you not think I deserved to know?"
"I-I-"
"I would have stayed for you! I-"
I stand up and he backs up a couple steps. "That's exactly why!"
"What?"
"You would've hated us if you stayed. You would've resented it. You just said you'd be disappointed. You don't think we wouldn't have picked up on that?"
"You didn't give me a fucking choice, Vanessa! Does he even know me?"
"He doesn't know who you are. I told him you were a superhero, fighting a really bad man in another country. And that you'd come back when he was caught."
Javier hesitates a moment. "You never gave me a choice! I lost all of that time. I lost...FUCK! I can't even look at you!" He turns and walks away, past the parking lot and into the street, heading towards town.
I call after him but it's no use. I collapse onto the bench, my head in my hands, finally letting the tears out that I'd been holding back for so long.
-------
The next morning, I set at the kitchen island, a mug of hot coffee clutched between my cold hands as I wait for Javier. I hear the sounds of someone moving down the stairs and I sit up straighter, but Chucho enters the kitchen. I feel my face fall as he looks at me.
"I know I'm not a looker but-"
"Sorry, Chucho. I was expecting.." my voice trails off and he cocks his head.
"Javi? He left."
I sit bolt upright. "Left?"
Chucho pours himself a mug of coffee. "Yeah for Cali. Didn't he tell you? He was going to tell you last night that he was heading back. It was sort of a secret but I told him you'd probably notice if you were no longer sharing a bathroom."
I feel the blood drain from my face. "He's gone?"
Chucho turns, mug in hand and scans my face. "Yeah. I thought he told you? When neither of you returned to the reception, I assumed...well, I thought he'd tell you before he..."
Tears fall wet and hard from my already puffy face. Chucho looks alarmed but sets his mug down and pulls me to him, letting me soak his shirt as he makes calming sounds at me.
"I told him, Chucho. I told him about Alex," My speech is muffled but he hears it all the same.
"What happened?"
I tell him the entire conversation, how Javier just stormed off and how I expected to see him this morning, to apologize and tell him he doesn't have to be involved, that I can move out to make it easier. Chucho waves me off with that last one. "I would never make you move out. Javi doesn't cook nearly as good as you."
I give him a small smile, my shoulders still shaking from sobbing.
"Listen, Vanessa. I won't give you a lecture. You know my opnion and it's no use retelling you. But he knows now. Javier tends to run from things."
"So we're his latest Lorraine?"
Chucho cocks his head, thinking. "I doubt that very much. You're not Lorraine. He looks at you differently."
"Looked. I doubt he'll even want to see me again."
"Mm...let's just give him space, ok?"
"But what if he's down there another 6 years?"
"Something tells me it won't take him that long to think about things."
-------
Javier
It had been a month since Vanessa told him he has a kid. That he has a 6 year old son he knew nothing about, knew nothing about him. Except that he's a hero. Which is a lie.
The Cali Cartel had another 5 months before they would be "turning themselves in", which was a big joke. He had to catch them before the time was up so they could face actual justice and not this fake, bureaucratic bullshit.
He's tried to resort back to his old ways of dealing, burying himself in a woman. But when he tried to, he couldn't bring himself to do anything, let alone sleep with them. It was everything he could do to not pick up a cigarette, but his patience was wearing thin.
He tried not to think about Vanessa and her confession. But when the work day was over, and he went back to his penthouse the government provided, his brain would play that conversation over and over in his head. At first, he continued to remain livid, that she had denied him the choice of knowing his family, being with his kid. But then his dad's words echoed in his mind, the call coming the day he landed in Cali.
"That girl has been through hell, Javi. Don't be the asshole you claimed you wouldn't be."
"She didn't tell me I had a kid, dad. A kid! Who does that?"
"She was only thinking about you! This whole time, she was worried about your wellbeing. She didn't want you distracted or resentful, even if it cost her everything."
"What did it cost her?"
"Her parents! Her family, friends, her church. Ours welcomed her with open arms only because I was there to vouch for her. She was shunned from her entire life and still only worried about you. Don't be such a stubborn asshole."
He thought about Vanessa, so young and pregnant, trying to figure out how to tell her strict parents she was expecting despite not being married. Them kicking her out, closing her off from all of her friends and family, anyone who would support her. Her finding the strength and will to drive all the way back to Loredo to try and find him and discovering he would be away for an indefinite amount of time. What would he do in that situation? Run away from it, probably. Which she didn't have the option of doing.
He takes a swig of his drink, the ice cubes clunking against his top lip. He wants to meet his kid, Alex. Wants to tell him that the bad guy was caught and that he's back. Would he be back? It's probably good Alex doesn't know who he is, in case something happens to him here. But if he gets to go home, he knows he wants to be in his life.
What about Vanessa? Will she let him in their lives? Javier is pretty sure she will, even with the way he left. But what about her? If he's honest with himself, truly honest, when he looks past the anger, he sees her big eyes, the freckles on her cheeks, the sass she gives him in her quiet manner. And he thinks, no. He knows. He knows he loves her. He thinks she loves him. If she didn't, surely she would've told him long ago, not caring about his well being. But she had been so adamant about not telling him, wanting him to be safe.
He crosses his arms, pinching the bridge of his nose. Fuck, what was he doing? Granted he signed up to go back to Cali when they called him in, assuming that if he didn't they would throw him in prison. But honestly, he was ready to come back and actually be here when they get the bad guys. But then Vanessa came back into his life and now a kid.
Fuck, he's an idiot.
-------
Vanessa
6 months. It had been 6 months since Javier stormed out and ran away to Cali. Ok, run away was harsh as he went there for work, agreeing to it long before he knew I was here. But he hadn't called and I took that as a sign, no matter how many times Chucho said it doesn't mean anything because he doesn't call him either. He gets too caught up in his work.
It's the start of summer, the windows are open to get a cross breeze coming through the house. I do miss the ac back home, but I'll take Chucho's home over the one I grew up in any day, heat or no.
Alex got a new book and I hadn't seen him for a couple hours as he's spent them in his room, devouring the latest in his series. He did come out once, nose buried in the book, to ask me for a snack.
I finish washing his cup, setting it on the rack to dry. I stare out the little window over the sink, watching Chucho putter about between the barn and the shed, thinking about the animals and how hot it's going to get out there. I know they're used to it, but still. I'' have to get some extra ice trays at the store so I can throw some more in their water troughs. Chucho says that's why they all like me so much.
Suddenly, I hear heavy steps on the wood floor behind me, much heavier than Alex's. I spin, my hand gripping the cast iron pan that was sitting there. But when I fully turn, I nearly drop the pan.
Javier is there, standing in front of me, his chest heaving, a small bead of sweat sliding down his neck and onto his chest, which is slightly exposed by his several undone buttons in his lavender purple, button up shirt.
"Javier, I-"
"Sshh. I'm sorry."
"What?"
He takes a few steps towards me. "I never should have just left. I at least should've told you about Cali."
"No. I'm sorry. I should've told-"
He's only a couple steps from me now. "No, it's ok. I understand. You were thinking about your family. About how it would affect even me. you did what you had to do."
This was not what I expected. He reaches for the pan, still clutched in my hand. He takes it and sets it on the counter behind me, leaning close to me. He looks down at me, his hand coming up to cup my cheek and I inhale sharply at the sensation.
"You're so brave and I'm a fucking idiot."
"You have every right-"
He pulls me to him, gently pressing his lips to mine, giving me time and space to stop him. But what he doesn't know is his touch has sent me spiraling, spinning away into the sky. And when his tongue slides into my mouth, my body trembles slightly, my hand coming up to mindlessly grab onto his arm. But then he pulls back, staring into my eyes.
"I'm in love with you."
My stomach lurches, a thousand butterflies being released in my body at his words. Love? He loves me? I never thought I'd hear those words from anyone, let alone the man I've loved since I was 19. The reason none of my dates every worked out.
"And it's ok if you don't-"
"I love you too."
He smiles, a real smile that lights up even his eyes, both of his hands now cupping my face. "Really?"
"Why do you think none of those dates ever worked out? It was always you, Javi."
He kisses me more passionately now, his hand leaving my face to grip my hip, pulling me against him. I feel him through his tight jeans, pressing into me and I groan a little in his mouth.
"Fuck, you're so intoxicating. It was killing me not to kiss you."
"Mmm." Is all I can manage to say. But then I remember we're not alone, not this time.
"Do you want to meet him?"
Javier pulls his face back from mine. "He's here?"
I nod. "Yeah. Reading, upstairs."
He shifts, tugging on his pants. "Hell yeah I want to meet him. But uh, give me a sec?"
I glance down and chuckle. "Maybe I can help you with that later?"
He groans. "You aren't helping any now."
He turns and walks out the back door and I see him say hi to his dad, embracing him. Chucho watches him for a moment and then a smile appears and he claps him on the shoulder. I can only assume he's telling him he's going to meet Alex. Javier comes back inside, taking a deep breath.
"Ok, I think I'm ready."
"Alex! Can you come downstairs for a minute?"
Small feet patter across the floor upstairs and make their way down, Alex appearing in the kitchen a moment later, his book still propped open in his hand.
"Mom, I was at a really good part!"
"Alex, I have someone I want you to meet."
"Can it wait?"
I kneel down to get on his level, his eyes, so like Javier's, staring back at me, sensing the seriousness.
"Alex, meet your dad, Javier."
Slowly he turns, looking up at Javier who waves at him awkwardly. "Hey, kiddo. I uh, got the bad guy. I'm sorry it took me so long."
Alex continues to stare at him for a moment. Then he throws his precious book to the floor, running full out towards Javier, who throws his arms out at the last minute as Alex leaps into them, nearly knocking him over.
"Dad? It's really you?"
"It really is."
Alex clutches onto him, tears in both of their eyes. "I always dreamed of meeting you! This is the best day of my life!"
Javier hugs him tight, fighting back the tears that are quickly gathering in his eyes. "This is the best day of my life too, son."
-------
2 years later...
I load up the old tractor with a couple of picnic baskets, 4 large thermos full of homemade lemonade next to them. I close the back and carefully hop up, driving slowly across the property, a smile on my face. After a while, I pull up to the 3 men in my life: Chucho trying to carry wood by himself, Javi yelling at him as he runs to help him, and Alex, hammering away at a spare piece of wood. They were at the back end of the property repairing a downed section of fence. Javier sees me pull up and he rushes over, offering me his hand to help me down.
"I wish you hadn't driven this thing."
"Well if I walked, it would've been dinner by the time I brought your lunch."
"Mom! Watch me!" Alex starts hammering on a piece of wood Chucho had laid in the ground, Javier moving to help him pound it in further.
"My strong man!"
"Son, gather up the tools and put them in the box. We're taking a break for lunch."
Alex starts to look around for the tools as Javier turns back to me. He wraps his arm around me and leans in to kiss me, sliding his tongue over my bottom lip.
"Now now none of that. That made this happen," I rest my hand on my enlarged belly as Javier leans down, planting a kiss to my stomach before standing back up. He leans close to my ear.
"I plan on putting as many kids in you as you'll let me."
I slap his chest, but the thought warms me. "Let's just see how these 2 go first, yeah?"
He smiles at me, kissing me again before lifting Alex into the back of the trailer, helping me to set up the picnic lunches I had made for all of them. As we stare out at the river, a boat comes through, obviously carrying illegal items, most likely drugs. Javier stiffens, but then looks around at us.
"I'm done. I've done all I can. Now I just want to spend my life with my family."

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
For SGA, it's Failsafe (still one of my favourite things I've ever written). For Firefly, I think it's Assessment, at least, based on the comments I got when I first posted it to...oh gosh, I think it was to a listserv and then the Firefly's Glow old archive. For SG1, it's Grey Skies, Ashen Ground (I also love this fic so much).
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I don't know. I do write a lot of pretty happy endings, and a lot of humour, so it's hard to say.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Generally, no. I do remember getting a bit of snark about a few things I've written over the years, but that was way back pre-LJ.
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I dooooooooo. I think I write a fair amount of E-rated stuff (PWPs and otherwise). What kind - I guess mostly m/m. My most common smut-related tags are blow jobs, dubious consent, and getting together. So I guess I write a lot of dubious consent oral sex romance or something :')
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Sometimes! Craziest one is probably Travel Light (SGA/The Littlest Hobo) (we need more dogs in Stargate, okay??) (yes, this is a niche fic with a small audience, but it is deeply hilarious to me). Or maybe Village of the Y-arrrggg (Anna and the Apocalypse/Hot Fuzz). I love both of these fics so much.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I have no idea!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don't think so.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Heck yes, I have! Quite a bit over the years, and more recently a couple with @wonkyelk and four or five with @chaos-monkeyy. It is so fun!!!!
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
I tend to prefer characters over ships (I will ship that favourite character will alllllllll kinds of people), but probably if I had to pick, I'd say Jayne/Simon (Firefly), just because I think they're the most frequent ship I've written.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I don't know, really. I tend to forget about my WIPs and then find them again later and remember.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I write humour pretty well! And I think I'm pretty good at writing porn. Maybe. I don't know. I can and will make train puns (shock, gasp, surprise).
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I can't sustain long stories. Most of my stuff falls in the 2000-5000 range, and the longest thing I ever wrote was just shy of 10 000 words. I just don't have the capacity to write long stuff. Also, if I don't get most of a fic down in a sitting or two, I'm unlikely to ever finish it.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I'm pretty sure I've never done this. Can't say I have any profound thoughts on it.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
OZ.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
This one is too hard. And whoops, it turns out I've already mentioned a bunch of stuff I like. I guess I also really like the way Pieces Tossed Aside (Firefly) worked out (I had to think about a few different things for that one), and also, Of winsome mood and disposition (SGA) (it made me laugh so much to write this).
no pressure tagging, if you're into it: @chaniis-atlantis, @cuillere, @cordeliaperry, @chaos-monkeyy, @colonelshepparrrrd, @dedkake, @sparrowsarus

I hope this ask isn't too intrusive but I wanted to know more about you, as a writer! What's your writing process? How do you come up with fic ideas & plots? (Also bonus: if there's any wip you want to talk about, please do, I would love to know more <3)
Not intrusive at all! Tbh—my process is not having a process lol. I usually don’t even do outlines, but if it’s a longer fic sometimes I’ll just do like a sentence loosely describing each chapter so I don’t completely forget what I was on about when I come back to it months later.
Most of the time I base a story off of a single line that comes to me and work around that! While simultaneously, like a lot of fic writers—just wanting the characters in a certain situation and putting them there.
Actually this is the perfect opportunity to ramble about how writing is something that’s always been difficult for me, despite loving it. My brain does not retain information well and I get distracted so, so easily (hello my fellow neurodivergents 👋) Writing stories with word counts over around 5000 is usually a mountain I’ve got to make myself climb when whatever idea I have calls for Longness. This is why I tend to write in shorter, to the point sentences with lots of fragments, simply because my brain processes those easier. But sometimes a long, rambly tangent is thrown in before I forget the words. And in doing that, it’s turned into my writing style I suppose :D
Alright anon you asked for it—WIPS!!
I assume you’re here for my ghoap fics considering the nature of this blog eheh so I’m gonna share a few
I went into my docs to see how many unposted ghostsoap wips I actually have at the moment: 9 💀 The oldest seems to have been created back in /April/ and it’s…Ghost getting a poison that was meant for soap uh oh. I can tell you I do remember this was inspired directly from an episode of dateline so uh. Yeah inspiration striking in the strangest of places and all that skadkhsah
There’s an undercover as a couple one I started a looong time ago as well, but for some reason this trope is so hard for me to write? I’d wanted to try it out for so long and did not expect it to be so difficult lol. The Yearning is just so strong
And…my mwiii fix-it. It’s probably gonna be multi-chapters and I’ve been reigning myself in on posting the first one until I have the whole thing completed due to the heaviness of it all. (The first bit is Price’s POV which was a lot of fun!) I want the happy ending to be there set in stone for readers and not leave them hanging since it’s meant to be a cathartic release after The Grand Shit Show
Aaand this is already so rambly so I’ll stop now—thank you for the ask anon, I simply love going on tangents <3

I've been feeling in a rough patch lately and most of it's manifested in insecurities and a general lack of motivation to work on any writing projects. I haven't touched PB since I put it on hiatus. I came up with a really fun writing series that just petered off into nothing. I've barely progressed and done anything, even though I'm having all these cool story ideas!
If you've been here for a while, you might've noticed that I stopped writing a couple years back, right around when Homestuck ended. Homestuck was the first major fandom I was in and the first one I posted fanfic for. My AO3 has 50 works just for Homestuck. And, when it ended, it felt like so did my desire to create.
Of course, this was right around my last year of college and ohhhhh fuck that was stressful. Plus I got really into WoW too. I didn’t really have much time to write in general.
I struggled for 3 years feeling like I could barely write anything at all. I was in such a depressive funk at the time, and the feeling like I couldn't create only worsened it. It took me 3 months to write 1000 words.
And then, one day, something amazing happened. I got into dsmp, I got into these characters, and on a whim, I sat down and wrote my first fic for it. In the span of 3 days, I wrote 3000 words! And I was happy! And I posted it and people seemed to love it!
My AO3 now has at least 30 fics just for dsmp, and I've got folders upon folders of other projects and ideas springing up every day for new fics for other smp series!
And yet, I'm starting to see myself falter. With the dsmp ending, and especially ending like it did, it reminds me so much of Homestuck. And I see myself doing the same things and behaving the same way I did 6 years ago. Struggling to write. A lack of focus and motivation to work on any of my projects. An external source of immense stress that makes me feel like I don’t have much time to write anymore.
And it's frustrating on a personal level to see that. Therapy opened my eyes to recognizing my patterns of behavior. I can prevent myself from spiraling. I can recognize when I need a break and I can take that break and barely feel guilty for it. And yet, here I am again. Will it soon take me a month to write 1000 words?
Have I even written 1000 words this very month?
... so I've written 5000.
In 2022, I decided that I wanted to track my yearly word count. I wrote so MUCH in 2021 that I broke 100k words posted on AO3 for that year. But that was just finished works! None of my wips, which I knew I had a lot more of! So I tracked my word count in 2022 and I think I hit around 150k? And that's impressive! That's cool!
So I did it again for 2023. But it's been harder to keep up with that over the last few months. I've been in a limbo of not knowing how many words I've written. Based on the fact that I haven't made any progress on my fics, that number must be very low, I thought.
And then I updated my word count yesterday. And I realized something:
I've written over 5000 words this month. Which isn't a lot, sure, but it's a lot for me. And, you know what? That's on track for January and February. March was fucking wild cuz I broke 14k words in March. And I know from tracking it last year, whenever I get a huge spike of words in one month, it takes maybe another month to recover. So my next month won't be as big or grand, but that's okay.
And that made me sit back and really look at what that means. I've been rping a lot, which is where the majority of those words come from. I wrote 1.5k words in a single DAY and I'm over here wondering why I don't have any words left in me! When I was in my last writing slump, I was still rping. All I did was rp.
I'm still writing, even when I don't think I am. I'm still expressing myself in these creative outlets even when I don't think it's "real writing". And why does it matter what's real writing anyways? Isn't it enough that I'm still doing it?
It is. It is enough. Therapy helped me recognize my patterns of behavior, and sometimes the answer really is to just. Take a break.
It'll still be here when you get back.

odd numbers x
thank you heatherrr btw everyone shut up and read recurrence. heather wrote that. it's fab. sound of the summer
1. give short descriptions of all your current WIPs.
atla - sokka is suspicious of zuko when he first joins their group, idiots to lovers ensues. 1400 out of an estimated 3000-5000 words.
thg - longform piece following johanna mason from her games through to the end of mockingjay. in very early planning stages
h*rry p*tter - an old drarry soulmates au, 1400 words, shelved permanently. might try to rework the soulmate concept for another fandom and pairing.
yugioh - gen ghost hunting au, in which yami bakura is ryou's demon bodyguard, yugi is a psychic, and atem is his guardian angel. 8300 words, needs heavy revision
ouran - tamakyo zombie au. 5900 out of an estimated 12,000+ words, needs heavy revision
ouran - tamakyo, what i have jokingly titled "why does tamaki call you babygirl". 800 words of fragmented scenes, needs work
ouran - kyoya and renge bitching at each other. 300 words, more of a scene than a fic, needs work
3. what makes you love writing?
i think i write because it's an elaborate version of playing pretend, but instead of stuffed animals i play with blorbo from my shows.
5. what do you think is the most important part of writing?
i think i've answered this question before with "research", but now i would say intention. like, being intentional about what you say and how you are saying it, to what effect, etc.
7. what books have shaped the way you think about writing the most? why?
the hunger games trilogy and the ballad of songbirds and snakes, because it only gets better when i come back to it as an adult, now that i can adequately understand the rhetorical and narrative devices at play.
the works of vladimir nabokov and ernest hemingway have also influenced the way i look at writing. nabokov is meticulous and hemingway is succinct, so both of them measure their words heavily in order to give the right effect. reading them has made me more deliberate about my creative choices.
9. what are you best and worst at when writing?
i think i'm consistently strong at dialogue, but pacing is my achilles heel. that was always the number one critique i got in workshop, i never know intuitively where to pick up or slow down.
11. give three songs or images that fit [WIP].
we're gonna go with the johanna fic bc i have a playlist that has fueled so much of my obsession
good lie by sammy copley
fire by kimya dawson
that unwanted animal by the amazing devil (!!!!!!!)
13. describe your writing style.
the characteristics that get brought up the most are my sense of humor, voice, and character work, which are obviously what i focus on, but i'm not sure how i would go about describing those any further without sounding like i'm totally up my own ass about it.
15. what do drafting and revision look like for you?
i don't usually do drafts for fanfiction. revision usually consists of me coming back to a project repeatedly to tweak things and rework ideas that i've grown sour on.
17. how do you determine what mood each project has?
basically whatever i feel like writing at the time. the mood and vibes come with the initial idea far more than any plan for a plot does. heather cubed was primarily comedic because i wrote it for fun, but progressed to be (even if only slightly) more mature and heartfelt as i got more sentimental about the project, despite the absurd plot.
19. do you plan out your projects? if yes, to what level? how well do you stick to your plans?
i plan bigger projects like heather cubed, but my shorter pieces are played pretty much entirely by ear. it's easy for me to get stuck in the planning stage though, so that's why heather cubed is my only multichapter story.
my plan for heather cubed was mostly a list of plot beats to incorporate, but i strayed from that sometimes if it felt more organic to go a different route. i also had a running list of jokes i'd try to incorporate, if i saw or overheard something funny and didn't want to forget, like the mattress store phone call.
21. what are the most important facets of creating a character, to you?
voice is always number one on my list, but i've been trying to get better at zeroing in on character motivations. without a plot, your story is driven by your characters, and i do a Lot of character studies. so it needs to sound like them, and the psychology needs to track.

desha/gn!reader, ~3.3k  18+ no minors   also on ao3
tags: lotsa saliva n spit bc im gross, thigh riding, hand kink, oral (male receiving)
Except for the two of you, the throne room was deserted.
It was far past the hours that any townspeople would come to seek an audience with King Desha, and even the guards that typically stood at the end of the hall had retired for the evening. The candles had burned down to almost nothing, coating the room in an imitation of the dim light of sunset. Their weak flames captured and elongated your shifting form as you rolled your hips against Desha’s broad thigh and casted your devious act in shadows against the walls.
The likelihood that someone would walk in at this hour was unfathomably small. Even if they did, there was little to suggest that anything untoward was happening — you were both still fully dressed, not even a hair out of place. Only the echoes of your quiet panting and the quick, minute motions of your hips gave you away.
Nonetheless, the idea of getting caught rutting on Desha’s thigh like some dumb dog in heat sent a thrill down your spine.
You had never felt so keyed up before. It had to be the fact that you were so brazenly using him to get off — anyone could walk in and see how wantonly you were chasing your pleasure. You knew without even touching yourself that you had soaked through your undergarments and possibly your trousers too, all without Desha laying a single hand on you.
He was merely watching. He had his elbow propped up against the armrest, head balanced against his fist as he gazed through half-lidded eyes. When you looked up at him with your lips curved into a pathetic pout, he grinned. “What?”
The bastard knew what you wanted, but he was going to make you ask anyway. “Touch me,” you begged, shameless. You were past the point of caring how desperate you looked — there was only so much you could do on your own. “Please.”
Desha broke into laughter. “Why should I? You got yourself started, didn’t you? Surely you can finish yourself off.” “Desha.” Your lower lip quivered. What had started as a dull ache in the pit of your stomach had grown to a ferocious need, but your pleasure had plateaued right before the peak. You had grown used to relying on his touch to satisfy you. Trying to come on your own had become frustrating.
Tears pricked behind your eyes and his grin softened, more fond than smug. He cupped your face in one oversized hand and you turned to nuzzle your face into his palm, melting into the touch. “You’re all sorts of needy tonight,” he remarked, words little more than a voiced rumble. He squished your cheeks between forefinger and thumb and guided your head back to the front, where you gazed at him through teary eyes. “Here,” he offered, and grazed his thumb along your lips.
You gratefully slipped his thumb into your mouth. It quelled some of your frustration, helped ease the discontent you felt. When he pressed down on the flat of your tongue to keep your jaw open, you felt the threat of his sharp nail — he wouldn't hurt you, had never hurt you — but all the same, there was something so undeniably alluring about the hint of danger.
"Is this better?" he asked. You answered with a low whine, earning you yet another chuckle. He finally lifted his head from his hand and placed it on your collarbone, holding you in place. Gone was his thumb, replaced with his index and middle finger, and this time he allowed you to close your lips around the digits. Saliva pooled in your mouth as he practically massaged your tongue, careful not to scrape his nails on your soft flesh. His fingers were big, big enough that he only needed to spread them to stretch your mouth obscenely wide. You whined again, tried to say some garbled approximation of his name, but it was hard to do with your mouth full. "This is all you're getting," he said. He shifted his leg under you, reminding you of the heat still boiling below your stomach. "Do you want to come, or not?"
You breathed out around his fingers, tongue tasting the salt on his skin. You braced your hands on his chest to steady yourself as you began to grind against his thigh again. You might actually be able to come, you thought. It helped to have your mouth occupied by him, even if you wanted his hands elsewhere. The hand at the base of your neck never squeezed, never put more pressure than you could handle, but it was there. No doubt he could feel the way your pulse jumped with every rock of your hips and every subtle shift of his fingers against your tongue.
He spread the two fingers in your mouth and you let him, tongue lolling out between your teeth. Drool dribbled from your mouth and down your chin, and if you were in any other state of mind you knew to be embarrassed. Now, though, that familiar ache was building, finally cresting over the plateau from earlier, and you moaned out a noise so weak and pathetic that it had Desha laughing.
"I've never heard you make a sound like that before." He grasped your face between spit-soaked fingers and ran his thumb along your skin, affectionate. "Are you close?"
"Y-yes," you panted. "Please —"
You didn't know what you were asking for, or what he'd even be willing to provide. You leaned into him and bowed your forehead against his shoulder, hiding your face in the soft fabric. A hand came to rest against your back, the heat of his palm seeping through your shirt and soaking into the skin below. His other hand settled at your hip — not to help, but to keep you in place. "Are you actually gonna come like this?" Part mocking, part awe, as if he couldn't believe all you needed was his thigh.
You nodded against his shoulder, not trusting yourself to speak. Your movements against his thigh grew more erratic as you chased that delicious friction, and you found yourself creating a constant stream of noise; gasps of his name, quiet pleas and desperate whimpers that only grew in volume until Desha shushed you.
"Hey," he warned, though his voice was tinged with amusement. "Anyone could walk in."
You almost hoped they would. Desha was a private man and didn't like PDA — not that you minded, you understood why — but getting caught somehow seemed like an achievement. Like if someone saw this blatant display, they'd realize how much you belonged to Desha. How much he belonged to you. No one else got to share his throne like this. He sat in it for hours, day in and day out, and if only someone knew that it was forever stained with your debauchery—
The thought sent you over the edge, dam breaking, and you came with a strangled cry that you barely managed to muffle in time. You kept rocking your hips in small motions as you rode out your orgasm, fists clenched against Desha's chest, body wound tight in pleasure.
Gradually, the shockwaves subsided, and you realized that he was dragging his nails along your back in broad, comforting strokes, oddly chaste compared to what you just did. You lifted your head from its bowed position on his shoulders and found him grinning down at you.
"Well? I'm impressed it took so little. Were you really desperate enough to just hump my leg?"
His crude words made an embarrassed heat rise to your cheeks. You weren't quite ashamed, but without the urge to come clouding your mind, you understood how desperate it made you look.
You were about to reply with some explanation — that it was because of him, that you just found him that attractive — but then you noticed the undeniable bulge in his trousers, and some other urge reared its head.
It wasn't fair if you were having all the fun.
You sat a little straighter and skimmed a hand down his chest, stopping to lay a hand on his obvious erection. "You liked watching," you said, a little breathless. "Let me make you feel good, too."
He raised one thick brow. "What, you want to go to —"
"No, here." You were already climbing off him and sinking to your knees at the foot of the throne, hands on the tops of his thighs. "Please?"
For a moment, he faltered, casting a glance to the room behind you. "Aren't you full of surprises," he murmured, lips curving into a smirk. "Little deviant."
And then his hands were at the belt at his waist, long fingers undoing the hooking the clasp. You tugged at his pants, eager, and he lifted his hips to pull them down to his thighs. His cock bobbed as he freed it, fully hard, the tip flushed and leaking. You swallowed involuntarily. No matter how many times you saw it, the size alone still made your stomach flutter. He was so big.
Desha sunk lower in his seat to give you easier access, legs falling open to neatly bracket you on either side. You took his cock in one hand and leaned forward until your breath ghosted across the head, already imagining the phantom ache of it in your jaw.
He was almost too big. It was a good thing that you loved the stretch he caused, the full feeling he gave that competed with nothing else. You wet your lips.
"If you're just going to stare at it, I'm going to call it a night." He was back to lazily staring down at you, head once more propped up against his hand.
You gave him a sheepish smile in apology and ducked your head. You ran the flat of your tongue along the tip of his cock, lapping up the salty liquid that had dribbled out, and continued lower, giving his shaft repeated kitten-licks while you worked up enough saliva to take him into your mouth.
Despite everything else, Desha was an extraordinarily patient man when it came to sex. He understood how big he was in relation to you, and often took more than enough time making sure you had adequately adjusted to his size before he moved on. This, too, was the same — he was letting you go at your own pace, leisurely as it was.
This alone wasn't enough to bring him to climax, you knew, and so after building up enough spit, you wrapped your lips around the head of his cock. Excess saliva drooled down his length.
You had yet to take him all the way to the hilt, and even on your best days you could only hope to swallow half of him before you had to quit. You fisted the base, slicking your palm with your spit to ease the glide of your hand as you began to stroke him while you lapped at the tip.
Desha was mercifully still. He'd only ever thrust into your mouth once or twice, momentary lapses of control, but here he stayed motionless, not even lifting a hand to put it atop your head. His comments had quieted, too, but as you slowly took more of him into your mouth, you heard his breath hitch, felt his thighs tense under your hands. Just the first quarter of his cock was soaked in your spit, but your jaw already twinged with the effort of keeping your mouth spread. There was girth to him, too, not just length — hot and heavy on your tongue, but it meant you tired quickly.
You had to focus to keep your teeth out of the way as you worked more of him down your throat. Your tongue flexed on the underside of his shaft and Desha rewarded you with a voiceless moan. Pleased, you hummed in response, earning you another quiet noise.
"That's good," he praised. "You like doing this, huh?"
You nodded the best you could, humming your assent. He should know by now with how often you ask to suck him off. Truth be told, you'd be happy just to sit between his legs with him resting in your mouth, erection or no. You liked the feel of him, the salty taste of his flesh and the smell of his musk.
You had yet to bring that idea up to him. You might never.
By now, the copious amount of your saliva masked the taste of his cock. You knew better than to push yourself, but you were greedy, greedy, you wanted more—
In your eagerness, you took more than you could handle. He hit the back of your throat and you gagged around him, making an awful, choked noise. Desha reacted with alarm, reaching to pull you off of him.
"Easy!" he chided.
Strands of spit still connected your mouth to his cock, coalescing into webs before they finally broke. You met his frown with a giddy grin of your own. "Oops," you laughed, sitting back on your haunches. "I got carried away."
"Be careful. I don't want you to hurt yourself." Lacking your mouth, Desha wrapped his hand around his cock.
You were grateful for the chance to give your jaw a break. You leaned forward and pillowed your cheek on his thigh, gazing up affectionately at him while he slowly stroked himself. "I'll learn to swallow all of you at some point," you promised. "I just need more practice."
"Practice?" He snorted.
"The jaw's a muscle. It can be trained like anything else."
He huffed, amused. "You're going to make me chafe at this rate."
You had to laugh. Your sexual appetite overpowered his, but he did more than enough to keep you satisfied — even if you didn't get to suck him off as much as you wanted.
The steady schlick schlick of his hand drew your attention back to him. The motion gave his balls a slight bounce, temping you, and you found yourself almost transfixed.
"Go on," Desha prompted. "I know what you're thinking."
You met his gaze for just a moment and found his eyes half-lidded. He reached down and cupped the back of your neck to pull you closer, and it was all the encouragement you needed.
You nosed forward until the wiry bush of hair at the base of his pelvis tickled your face. You stuck out your tongue, relishing every time his scrotum slapped against it. Sometimes, you'd catch the bottom of his fist, tongue sliding against his fingers. You closed your lips around a mouthful of the sensitive flesh. It wasn't like having his cock in your mouth, but it kept you occupied without the stretch.
"Desha," you murmured, almost muffled in his crotch. One hand balanced against his knee, you reached up to grab at his wrist. "Let me —"
"Don't push yourself this time." His hand fell away from his shaft. You replaced it with a grin, swiping your tongue along the base of his cock.
"I'll be good," you promised, having no intention to try and throat him again. You jerked him with your hand as you mouthed at his balls, suckling them lightly. Here, like this, his scent was overwhelming — heady, masculine, the barest hint of lightning after a summer storm. It made you drool, ditzy with lust and affection for him.
You glanced up and found Desha sitting with his eyes closed, lips parted as you pleasured him. You grinned against his flesh — he wasn't the vocal type and he kept his noises to a minimum, but knowing that he felt good because of you, only spurred you on.
You licked a path up from the base of his cock to the tip, straightening out your back as you did so. His slit was leaking precum constantly now, and his breath caught in his throat as you tongued the head, swallowing the salty liquid. Despite his lack of verbalization and his godlike endurance, he had his tells that he was close — namely, going quiet in the first place. You also knew to watch for the flex of his abdomen, the way he kept himself in check when his instincts said otherwise.
You focused your attention on his sensitive tip, swiping your tongue along the underside of his head. His thighs clenched and you pulled off with a purposeful pop. "Are you gonna come?"
Desha opened his eyes and peered down at you. Small droplets of sweat had beaded up around his hairline. "If you keep doing that, I will."
You grinned. "Will you come in my mouth?"
"Fuck," he swore. "You want me to?"
You only wrapped your lips around his cock again. You tried to keep eye contact with him, wanting to watch how his face looked screwed up in pleasure, but your own eyes fell closed as you lost yourself in the sensation of his cock sliding against your tongue, how it felt against the roof of your mouth with each push and pull of your head.
Desha's hand settled on the side of your neck, thumb brushing against your cheek. "You want it?" he asked again. He didn't even need to wait for your answer. "Stick your tongue out."
You withdrew until just the tip remained in you mouth, and you let your jaw hang open, the head of his cock resting on your tongue. Desha only needed to stroke himself once, twice, before he came. His cum didn't shoot out of him; instead, it dribbled out slowly with each pulse, milky-white and thick. You let his salty fluid pool in your mouth just long enough for him to get a glimpse before you closed your lips around his cock and swallowed.
Or you tried to, anyway. It seemed to you like he always had an exorbitant amount of fluid, almost too much for you to keep up with. Some still spilled out of the corners of your mouth, trickling down your skin.
"Messy little thing." He pulled his rapidly softening cock from you and reached his hand to your face, catching the stray drops of his semen onto his thumb. "Clean up after yourself."
You took his thumb into your mouth with a barely-suppressed grin and cleaned away the excess fluid, turning to press a kiss to his palm after. "Thanks, Desha."
He was in the process of fixing his clothing. "For what?"
You leaned your crossed arms on his knee and rested your chin atop them. "I got to come," you said, "and I got to taste yours."
The light was so dim now, most of the candles having burned out, but you swore you saw a flush dusting his cheeks. "Mhm. On my throne, even. You have strange tastes."
Were it coming from anyone but him, you would have felt ashamed. Instead, you knew to find the fondness buried in his words, and your grin broadened.
He silently urged you off of him. "Come on. I want to get to bed while it's still night."
"What, you don't want to pull an all-nighter and see what other strange tastes I might have?"
To your surprise, he picked you up in his arms, holding you effortlessly against him as he began to walk from the throne room. "I think I've figured most of them out by now."
"Oh, have you?"
He offered you a toothy grin. "Unfortunate we won't ever get to try them out, though, since you can't seem to keep your mouth off my dick for more than a minute."
"Wh — hey!" you squeaked, indignant. "I can too!"
"If you had to pick between sucking me off or coming, I think you'd choose to suck me off every time."
You opened your mouth to reply, but realized with a start that he was...mostly right. At your lack of an answer, he burst into cackling laughter. "You're so weird!"
You found yourself giggling along with him, despite yourself. "You'd let me do it!"
And if your earlier activities hadn't woken anyone, your combined raucous laughter bouncing off the walls sure did.

fic writer interview
i was tagged by the ever lovely and talented @jake-amy 💖
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Currently 15 separate ones, though I do typically put my one-shots under one work so it’s more accurately about 30!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
258,394 currently :-)
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Three- Harry Potter, Princess Diaries, and Bridgerton
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
What Came Before Colin Realized: Multichapter work that spans from the incident to RMB. An accidental fix-it fic that turns Polin into a real slow burn.
Bridgerton Stories: A collection of canon-compliant Bridgerton one-shots featuring different sets of couples, friendships, and family nonsense. A fun way to expand the Bridgerton universe.
Welcome to the digital age, babe: Modern AU mixed media fic that spans Penelope and Colin interacting over an entire decade. Includes cringe early 2010s social media posts, a slew of birthday messages, some pretty hilarious puns and innuendos my amazing beta helped create, and a true slow burn.
The best thing I never had: Also could be called, What If Colin Realized Too Late. A Colin POV one-shot of falling in love with Penelope after she’s fallen for someone else.
21st Century Bridgertons: A collection of modern Bridgerton one-shots featuring various couples. Just another place for me to put little ideas in.
5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I do! When I first started writing for Bridgerton, I was worried people would find it annoying if I replied to those that didn’t have questions/things to specifically reply to, so I was really hesitant. Now that I’m a bit more involved in the community, I don’t stress so much about it and try to reply to most comments! But I do wanna say that even when I don’t reply, I re-read and hold all of those comments close.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I think that “The best thing I never had” is the only angsty ending I’ve ever written, and it was definitely... angsty. I did, however, put multiple warnings for it so no one can fault me. 😅
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
No, and I cannot imagine how people do it in complete honesty. ALL the power to those with big enough brains for that though.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Ooof yeah, I’ve gotten a few. I think it unfortunately stems from my place in the fandom and people thinking certain things are overrated. In complete honesty, it sucks a lot and holds more power than I’d like.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
lol no, unless you count the lil fake-outs I sometimes include
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I hope not!
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but if anyone would want to, let me know!
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I haven’t yet, but @jake-amy and I might write a Gregory/Lucy fic if we ever get our gears in order 🤓
13. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
ok so I have a note on my Notes app that lists my favorite ships, so I’ll pick some of those (sorry I simply cannot pick an all-time): Mia/Michael (Princess Diaries), Katniss/Peeta, and Jonah/Amy (Superstore)! My favorite Bridgerton couples, however, are: Colin/Penelope, Francesca/Michael, and Gregory/Lucy
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I’ve had a modern Polin multichapter fic planned out since last May with about 5000 words written that I don’t think I will ever have the mental capacity to finish. I also have a Bridgerton high school au drafted that I hope I get to but can’t be sure.
15. What are your writing strengths?
I think I do a good job expressing my character’s emotions through description/cues rather than just writing them out. It’s one of the comments I got most frequently on Digital Age, which was really cool since 95% of it was through texting/posts.
I also think I do well in building anticipation in a scene. My favorite parts in movies/books are the lead up to things like a kiss, and I love writing them out as well.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
I think I have a hard time finding a medium between “long-winded” and choppy writing, and I spend a lot of time focusing on how much extra content should be between each line of dialogue. I also really struggle with imagination and thinking up different scenarios/things for the characters to be doing.
Also, proofreading. I get tired looking at the same words over and over again.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I’ve only ever written a few bits here-or-there in other languages, but I’d rather not include anything I’m not fluent in or I don’t have a friend fluent in. I grew up speaking another language fluently, but I also didn’t have any formal education in it so I’d even be hesitant to write anything in that language.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
My first published work is an 80k marauders multi chapter fic that I never finished so... Harry Potter.
19. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
Oh god, I never know what to say to these because I think I mix up how much I liked a fic vs. how much others liked a fic. But I’ll do my best.
WCBCR will always have a soft spot in my heart because it really connected me to Penelope and Colin as characters and helped me understand their relationship better. I think It was glorious was most enjoyable for me to write because it brought me back to early 2021 when I really was excited to write most of the time. I also really like An unexpected visitor, which is a bit of a random Anthony&Gareth one, but I like working through some of the more random pairings.

Fic writer questions!
I was tagged by @introvertia - thank you so much :) Your answers were really interesting!
How many works do you have on AO3?
Only 8
What's your total AO3 wordcount?
141754
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Four: Beyblade (gen fics mostly), Shizaya (Durarara), Grimmichi (Bleach), and Harringrove (Stranger Things).
I usually sit in a fandom for a quite a while before I actually start writing anything. I'm amazed by those people who can get stuck in right away (how do you do it!?!)
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. end the fight; before the fight ends you
2. Bound to Happen
3. Year of You
4. Broken Boys and Butterflies
5. So come take a drink (And drown your sorrows)
All Harringrove aside from 'Bound to Happen' - which I'm rather surprised came in second because the Grimmichi fandom is waaaaay smaller than the Harringrove fandom.
'end the fight...' is also the only wip here. The rest are completed one-shots.
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Yes and no. It depends. I want to respond because comments really do mean a lot to me and I love rambling with people, but I have issues with online communication. Like, sometimes I write out a response and when I read it back to myself my brain just goes 'no that's terrible you sound like an idiot delete it now' and then I go 'yessir you're completely right how silly of me.'
When it comes to wips, I tend to reply to every comment when I'm getting ready to post the next chapter, that way it's like a little heads-up - new stuff incoming soon!
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Y'know as much as I love angst I actually prefer to have my fics end on a relatively positive note (angst with a happy ending is my shit).
But I suppose 'So come take a drink (And drown your sorrows)' is overall pretty angsty and I left the ending open so if I ever felt like continuing it I could do so easily.
Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you've ever written?
Big nah. Kind of like AU fics, they just don't interest me that much.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yes, but it came from someone who was just making the rounds on a bunch of Harringrove fics and they were highly suspected to be an anti so it didn't really bother me that much because I knew they were trolling.
I've had a few like, vague comments/back-handed compliments that got under my skin a bit though.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Yes, occasionally I do. Generally I'd say I'm pretty vanilla, but I am currently writing an a/b/o fic, though I think it might go under non-traditional a/b/o because, again, vanilla lol
My smut usually comes with a lot of introspection, like they'll be doing the deed and one of them will be internally streaming a 5000+ word monologue (I do this with Grimmjow sometimes because he's a big virgin who views sex as silly human nonsense).
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Parts of a fic, yes. I came across this fic that was clearly plagiarizing from several different authors (they forgot to change the characters names and everything) and I found entire paragraphs that were copy/pasted straight from one of my fics.
The thing is, this was over 10 years ago, something I wrote when I was... seventeen, maybe? So... I don't get why they copied it because it was pretty bad to be honest...
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, an old one called '10 Miles in Your Shoes' (beyblade) although it was never completed because well, firstly, I never completed the original, and secondly, when the translator asked me how long I was planning on it being I said around 20-30k and uhhh... lets just say I overshot that by a mile!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. While I think it would be interesting to try I honestly don't know if I could give up control like that!
What’s your all time favorite ship?
Hard to say because I tend to go for characters over ships. Like, I got into Grimmichi because of Grimmjow and Harringrove because of Billy.
But since Grimmjow is my all-time favourite character then, I guess Grimmichi, but Harringrove is definitely a close second because the fandom has spoiled me rotten with all their amazing fics (in terms of reading material, Harringrove is my fav).
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
'10 Miles in Your Shoes' - the bodyswap fic.
It's been a long time since I engaged with anything related to beyblade but I have a lot of fondness for this fic because it was the second I ever started writing and it was the fic that allowed me to truly grow as a writer. There's a huge improvement from the first to the most recent chapter (most recent being 5 years ago...) to the point where it looks like it could have been written by two different people, and I received so much positive feedback and encouragement throughout those years. I wish I had it in me to go back and finish it off but I struggle enough while writing for my current obsessions so it's looking more and more unlikely...
At the very least, I think I might transfer it to AO3 since ff.net seems to be slowly going under. Even if I never complete it, I don't want it lost forever.
What are your writing strengths?
This might sound ridiculous but I don't know? I always feel like I'm winging everything!!
I guess. One thing I've been complimented on a lot is my ability to portray messy (for lack of a better word) situations in a realistic way. I've been asked a few times if I've ever studied psychology and -
Nope
Just winging it!
What are your writing weakness?
EDITING!!!
I really should get a beta because I miss so many stupid little mistakes, like - okay - I always used to write in past tense, it was never something I even thought about, past tense was just the default. And then suddenly, around 2017/18, I began transitioning to present tense completely unconsciously and now every time I re-read 'Bound to Happen' I get angry because I bounced between tenses all the way through that fic and I didn't even notice until a year after I posted it.
Also. Incredibly slow. Lack of consistency. Perfectionist until I get stuck and then I feel like you can spot exactly where I lost momentum. Utterly hopeless when it comes to descriptions of setting/scenery. I don't think I'm very good at building atmosphere either. Dialogue, although I am improving at that.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I can't say I really have any thoughts on this? I don't do it much myself.
What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?
Beeeeyblaaade! I was fifteen when I wrote my very first fic (now deleted because it was awful!)
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Oh god, this is hard!
If we're talking completed fics only, then probably 'Year of You'. That was my I-Do-Not-Accept-Billy's-Death fic but I WILL take all of the angst material from S3 and ride it hard.
If we're including wips, then both 'end the fight...' and 'metamorphosis' are probably my favourites right now.
'End the fight...' is my BIG Billy redemption fic which I started plotting out not long after S2 and there's so many scenes I'm looking forward to writing (yeah I know its been a while since i last updated but the past year has been rough okay)
'Metamorphosis' is the a/b/o fic which I was kind of nervous about at first because its not a trope that i read a lot of but i'm enjoying how its turning out so far!
Whew! That was a lot!
I'm tagging: firstly, whoever wants to do it because I like reading about peoples writing experiences (make sure to tag me!) And then: @shadowthorne @bentnotbroken1fanfiction @callieb @backwardshirt @memes-saved-me @murderlight @magniloquent-raven @aeon-of-neon @louhetar

Warning: This is VERY LONG. i got carried away.
"hey don't you have a wip fic for another au?" yeah shush i have a new idea that's not as fleshed out (after writing that turned out to be a lie) as the chunibyo one but i had to share it.
its in every fandom, but Saiki K Pokemon Au time. it's always cliche but who cares its amazing.
Kaido is the mc. for sure. he chooses a froakie because the professor (its kusuke, he's totally it) said it was a dark and mysterious as him. at first he's disappointed by the frog but once it evolves he starts loving it. him and greninja wear matching outfits. he tied red wrist wraps on its arms and he wears a pink scarf.
nendo is his rival lmao. he met him when kaido left with his first pokemon and challenged him to a battle, immediatly. he said loser has to buy the other persons ramen. "but i dont even know you??" "oh. well lets be friends, runt!" "you just asked to fight me???" nendo uses an eevee because his mom gave it to him when he was young. kaido wins because nendo didnt use a single attacking move. he just used sand attack and growl. the battle lasted 10 minutes because kaido kept missing.
now with his newly self proclaimed rival, after going to eat ramen, kaido sets out on his journey. i like to imagine a region with just every pokemon cause its cool that way. kaido mainly looks for fighting type pokemon, and a few dark types, and it takes him a bit to realize that this is probably a bad strategy and that he isnt finding anything, as cool as they are. he catches a shroomish, not knowing it became a type he wanted, because he was impressed with it's "battle capabilities" because it survived an attack that had fainted others. he names it doomslayer cause he's such an edgelord.
somewhere along the way nendo finds him and says that he's going to challenge a gym, and that kaido should join him. kaido agrees because "oh yeah, thats why im on this journey" and they go to the first gym.
The first gym is ghost type, run by toritsuka. why is he first? cause he's prolly not very good at battling and he knows it. the gym itself would be very foggy, and kaido has to traverse it to get to toritsuka. along the way toritsuka has spirits tell him where kaido is, and he'll release a pokemon near there for him to battle, and this happens 2 times. Torisuka himself uses 2 pokemon, a Litwick and a Galarian Yanmask. both are female, obviously. kaido absolutely demolishes these two pokemon, with his water and grass type, seeing as they're part fire and ground. first badge complete.
surpsingly, nendo also beats this gym, mainly because eevee can use bite. guess he figured out how to use attacking moves lmao. also yes ik bite is learned at 25, and rn they're at like lv 12 but shh. he found a tm or smt. it also helps thst toritsuka could barely hit nendos eevee due to the ghost and normal type thing.
nendo tries to travel with kaido, but kaido usually manages to worm his way away from him. he usually gets away whenever nendo challenges someone else and they have to tell him that he can't catch someone else's pokemon.
second gym is chiyo's gym. she uses grass types, and her gym is covered in flowers, trees, and it looks like a forest. the puzzle itself is rather simple. the floor is covered in large flowers, and you have to step on the correct ones or get sent back to the start. i like to imagine a giant vine yeeting kaido. chiyo also forgot to write clues over which ones are correct and ends up helping kaido, and winds being endeared by his determination. chiyo uses a Fomantis and a Petilil, because she thinks they're cute. kaido actually struggles quite a bit because he brings a water type and a grsss type. he wins in the end though, because chiyo ends up lovestruck and forgets to attack. she daydreams about inviting him to run the gym with her because he's so talented in her eyes, but he leaves before she can ask, grass badge in hand.
after chiyo's gym, kaido's froakie evolves into Frogadier, and he cries. in-between gyms again, kaido catches a rockruff because it was cute and it whined when he tried to walk away after battle. again, kaido catching types he likes without even knowing, provided his rockruff evolves at nightime. he names it Decimator. at this point i place kaido's levels at 19-21 ish, and close to rockruff and shroomish evolving.
next gym is hairo's and surprise surprise, it's a fire type gym. his gym his very, very intense. he has actual jets of fire lining his gym. there's no puzzle because he believes in just battling for victory or whatever, kaido didn't catch it behind the roar of the fire jets. kaido just walks along a pathway and gets challenged to battle by 3 randoms. i like to imagine one of them is nendo, and its never discussed. he has a fire type and everything, and its just not brought up. he's back to his single eevee after this too. kaido also wins with relative ease, considering he has a water type and rock type, although he makes the mistake of sending shroomish out at some point, but makes a clutch switch after it survives a flamethrower. fire badge obtained.
right after this, his shroomish evolves into breloom and he cries again. he gets very happy when his pokemon evolve. and also, after a few random encounters, his rockruff also evolves. its day form because kaido is a clueless baby. he still loves it all the same. at some point nendo challenges kaido with a single pokemon again, but this time it's a leafeon. kaido asks how he knew to evolve it, and he just says he battled next to some funny looking rock and it changed. of course. it actually manages to oko Frogadier because kaido wasnt expecting anything other than an eevee, but his breloom deals with it easily, because nendo kept using not very effective grass moves because it worked once. how does he have 3 badges again? nobody knows. level 25-27 now.
next gym is saiko's, and he uses normal types because all the other types were "too needy for someone like him." he's got 2 Persians and a Toucannon. he tried to use 3 persians but he was told that he needed something else just in case someone brought a fighting type by his dad. so he grabbed the first wild bird he found and evolved it. saiko doesnt have a puzzle, and instead just has an elevator that you can pay 5000 Pokedollars to use, otherwise you have to take the stairs like a pleb. Kaido takes the stairs because he's keeping his money dammit. its only 3 stories until saiko's floor, so it's really not much. Kaido sweeps easily with breloom until toucannon comes out. breloom gets slaughtered by a flying type move, and he sends out lycanroc to finish it. normal badge complete.
when he next sees nendo, he has a meowth with his leafeon. kaido asks where he got it, and nendo says he found it near the rich looking gym. kaido concludes that nendo accidently stole a pokemon and they go to return it. saiko says that the plebs can have it as a reward for defeating him, and dismisses them. levels 30-33.
5th gym! mera runs this one, and there isn't a type. she has an Alcremie, Appletun, Cherubi, and a Vannilish. what can i say, girl loves her food. kaido is genuinely concerned that she is gonna eat her pokemon though. the challenge is cooking. kaido has to cook curry, and if its bad, he fights a trainer, up to 3 times. if its good he gives it to mera and moves on the next curry. the actual battle goes okay, but its fairly difficult due to not having a single type, and being unpredictable. obviously he wins in the end, and the badge is a bowl of curry.
frogadier evolves into greninja finally, and they have the matching outfits going on. nendo laughs at it. somewhere nendo also got an applin. kaido is fairly sure he took this one from mera as well, but he decides to let it go, and tell nendo how he can evolve it. he doesn't think nendo understood, but he tried. kaido also realizes he only has 3 pokemon, and decides to find two more. he finds a braixen, which he evolves into delphox. her name is Lucifer's Eternal Flames. Lucy for short. he also catches a noibat. the noibat was caught because he got lost in a cave, and the noibat was leading him out, so he decided he couldn't just leave it there. he names it the Jet Bat Wings. yes im doing that and yes its hilarious. levels 37-39.
gym 6. fighting type, and its kuboyasu. he tried to leave behind his violent days behind him, and become a poison type gym, but eventually gave in and did fighting instead. after he had already dyed his hair purple for the colorscheme. he kept the fighting gym purple because he already commited dammit. 4 pokemon, and hes got Toxicroak (yes ik the irony), Lucario, Grapploct, and Pangoro. greninja faints quickly, and so does lycanroc, but after some paralysis tricks with breloom and delphox sweeping the rest, pangoro comes in and ko's delphox. noibat pulls through in the end, with flying type moves. fighting badge earned.
next battle with nendo, and it turns out he actually evolved applin, and now he's got a flapple. kaido is midly impressed. kaido catches his 6th and final pokemon, an absol. he was overjoyed when he finally got another dark type. he names it Fluffy. yes, the dark type doesnt get an edgy name. levels 44-46, there was a longer gap in between the 6th and 7th gyms. oh also, you may be wondering about an evil team in this au. and my answer is....¯\_(ツ)_/¯
gym 7. Fairy type. Teruhashi. you knew she'd be coming eventually. and yes i saved the characters people prolly wanna know about until last haha. and because i think they fit the more difficult gyms. girl's got 5 pokemon, Mimikyu (i think it fits her fake perfect girl personality), Slyveon, Gardevoir, Florges, and Magearna. how does she have a legendary? prolly cause she's perfect and just asked for it, and someone actually found one. No puzzle here, but having to find his way through the mobs of teruhashi fans is prolly hard enough. Kaido actually has to try this gym several times due to him lacking anything good againist fairies. he gets it eventually though, and teruhashi has to reassure her fans that it's okay that she lost before they murder kaido. fairy badge down.
at this point kaido has no clue how nendo keeps getting gym badges. he has 3 pokemon, and one isn't even evolved. especially considering how easily Kaido himself can beat him. kaido I shrug it off as the plothole it usually is in pokemon games. levels 47-50. Noibat evolves into Noivern, and kaido has himself a pretty strong team. Greninja, Delphox, Absol, Lycanroc, Noivern, Breloom. although he has just been choosing based on personal preference, it turnes out nicely. and yes I'm padding this out cause y'all know what gym is next.
Gym number 8. The psychic type gym, run by Saiki and Aiura. It doesn't get more cliche than this. The challenge in this one is a maze. There's no extra trainers here, instead Kaido fights Aiura everytime he encounters her. She only uses 1 Pokemon in these battles because they happen a lot. Kaido wonders how she keeps finding him, let alone getting through the maze so easily when there's walls everywhere. He brushes it off as her just knowing the layout. battle itself happens, and it's a double battle. they each have 3 pokemon. Saiki has a ditto, espeon, and an alolan raichu (because he thought it was cute) Aiura mainly runs the support side of the team, and she's got a female meowstic, alakazam, and reuniclus, and wishes she had a cuter team, but she makes it work. This is prolly Kaido's second hardest gym. not harder than teruhashi's because he had no advantages, unlike this one where he's got several dark types. the battle is hard because they know exactly what kaido is gonna do. the minute he sends out his breloom to get a cheap paralysis, out comes ditto. the breloom ditto nearly wipes out both dark types, but noivern takes care of it, only to meet a sad demise at the hands of raichu, despite the dragon advantage. he's able to win on his second try, after he refused to send out breloom due to the fact that they just seem to know his next move. it creeped him out. Psychic badge done.
nendo tries to take saiki out for ramen with him and kaido after his gym fight, declaring him his best buddy, and it's not explained why nendo decided this. nendo eventually wins the argument and they get ramen. kaido notices saiki looks disturbed everytime he looks at nendo, but brushes it off as "yeah he disturbs me too." they part ways and onto victory road because im still mourning how there wasn't one in sword and shield. after victory road, kaido is nearing level 60 on everyone.
elite four? eheh i don't know who'd make it up. prolly 4 previous gym leaders with fully evolved teams and more pokemon. not tlo worries about them tho.
Kaido bests the elite four, and marches on to the champion.
Champion Akechi. Full team of 6 Pokemon, and he's a formidable opponent. He's able to easily predict what moves are going to be used next, and always has type advantage. Although, unlike before, while difficult to do, it is possible to do something unpredictable to trip him up, which is the only way Kaido is able to win. His team consists of Serperior, Glaceon, Gyrados, Ninetales, Togekiss (it's just there to be annoying, it can barely attack, and akechi did this to be a nuisance so he can't be clean sweeped), and Mew. Again, I love unexplained lengendaries on teams okay. To Kaido, it seems like with enough switching, he could easily defeat Akechi, but Akechi is very good at predicting. So againist Akechi, it's like the team as been catered specifically to beat Kaido. But, knowing him, it likely was. It takes him ages to beat Akechi. Like literal ages. The only saving grace is Akechi can get tripped up if Kaido is unpredictable enough. It's likely a mixture of that and para hscks that lets him win, and Kaido is champion. Nendo did try to challenge him (somehow beating the elite four) but was beaten. I love how the rivals always beat everything but then get horribly beaten by you.
Holy shit this is longer than i thought it would be. I have been writing this for literal hours. Hope you enjoyed. This is what my brain had inspiration for today apparently, instesd of the fic im working on.
Hadn't seen too much Pokemon stuff for saiki k yet, so tada. and yes, i came up with most of this while writing. the only idea i had before i started writing was the saiki and aiura gym

9 and 23 for the ask game please 😊
9: Are there any fics you'd love to see but don't want to write yourself? What are they?
Ooh, um... I'm not sure! Something substantial for Cursed 2005, maybe, like a crossover with buffy or teen wolf or something, with jimbo as the pairing from cursed and idk just something interesting (please no b*angel or st*rek or st*dia), or a time travel fic for Supernatural that involves Dean as the POV but absolutely zero, nada, nothing of (even hints) De*tiel or winc*st, that's 100% a fix-it fic (bc my mans deserved a lot better than that ending smh. And so did Jo, and Anna, and Lisa and Ben and Charlie and Benny and- ).
23: What's one piece of advice you would give to anyone who wants to start writing or posting their writing online?
Hmm... Just go for it? Like, write whatever comes to mind and post it. And keep doing that. Over and over again, because it's all the same thing - practise. If you can't think of an idea, there's no reason not to go trawling for prompts. I've got this list of 200 prompts, can't remember where I found it, but it's really useful if I'm stuck. But yeah. Find some time, any amount of time, whether its 5 minutes or five hours, and write what you can, as much as you can, whether it's ten words or 10,000, or more or less, it doesn't matter. Just get words on screen (or on paper, if you prefer.) And then... post it. If the main issue is getting the courage to post it, don't read back over it. That's when the nervousness rears it's ugly head. Just post it. Straight up. Type right into the Ao3 doc and hit post if you have to, just... find a way to minimise the amount of time you give yourself to get all worked up about whether it's 'good enough' or not. It won't be perfect the first time you write something - nothing ever is. Everything requires practise. And each time you post something, you get better at it. It gets easier. If proofreading is the bane of your existence, just post it and come back later to fix any issues. If titling it is a problem pick a random word or a song lyric or hell, a sentence from the fic, anything at all. 'Working Title | Stiles POV All Human AU Stira Fic', even. Just. Anything. You can always change it later. Summaries an issue? Grab the first paragraph. Grab the first sentence. Put 'Stiles POV all human au, stira focus.' as the summary. Who cares? You. Can. Always. Change. It. Later.
That's the great thing about fic. Changing everything later is possible. Nothing here is permanent. If you aren't happy with something, that doesn't matter. So long as it's out there, you can get feedback (because often, we don't know why we aren't happy with something - outside help is always invaluable). Being scared of criticism is half the problem, for a lot of people... but - not to sugar coat - it's necessary. And, just to note, in my 10 years of fanfic writing, I have never, ever, gotten a single malicious comment. Not. Once. It's much rarer than people think it is. And even if you do, you can always delete it. Put comments on moderation, turn them off, if it's the main issue. Gather your confidence at your own pace - but don't forget feedback is necessary for improvement. Eventually you will need to accept it's going to happen - it's not an attack on you. It's an attempt at help. We're taught in school to consume media critically, and those who internalise that will comment constructively. English class can leave an impression - the worst thing is to take any of it personally. Having a negative mindset (they hate it) versus a positive mindset (they want me to improve at this thing I enjoy doing, they're trying to help, they're being supportive) can make all the difference.
Eventually, you'll need to turn those comments back on. But you don't need to take anyone's shit, hence why moderation is a thing. There is a difference between constructive criticism and hate - but it's rare you'll get the latter. Tone is hard to convey in text form; benefit of the doubt is the best way forward.
Make sure you've got friends/mutuals you can ramble with about your fics. it's genuinely the most helpful thing. Give them snippets, do the whole cheerleader routine for each other. It's great. Brainstorm with each other. Not necessarily doing collaborative fic (though you might find that's what works best for you!) but just, geeking out with each other. It makes a huge boost for your ego, and that's useful for your confidence when it comes to posting things. But also, if you trust them, it makes taking their advice easier.
Sometimes, it might feel like two steps forward and one step back. That's great! It's still a step forward. Go at your own pace. The worst thing you can do is rush yourself and burn out. If it takes you a year to update, it takes you a year. I assure you, the readers will still be there, and they'll be happy to see the update. Nobody's going to hate you for taking your time. Prioritise your health. I promise it makes your work better if you're in a good place, and you don't have too much on your plate.
Though, having said that, if you find you work best with about twenty wips all at once updated every week, then go for it! Like I said; your own pace. If a schedule helps you, have one. If it doesn't, don't. I don't have a schedule. I have about 40 wips posted, and a few that aren't yet. It can take me a year to update, or I'll do four in a week. People are pleased either way - what matters is that you wrote something, and it exists, and other people can read it. Isn't that awesome? You've made something. You've made a mark. Someone's happy because of you, because you wrote something they like. Who cares if there's twenty typos and you use the wrong you're* (*or equivalent in your language, ofc) - you can fix that later. And it didn't stop that person's enjoyment of the first fic you ever posted, which might not be as good as your future fics, but it's still special. It's still yours.
Prioritise the thing you want to prioritise. Plot, relationships (of any nature), whatever. Prioritise that. The rest will fall into place. Personally, I prioritise characterisation. interpersonal dynamics follow, part and parcel of character exploration, then plot, as an extension. Do what suits you. And people don't tend to mind very much about any of these. If characterisation matters to you not one whit, just put OOC in the tags and be done with it. Plot doesn't matter? Perfectly fine! You don't want to write ships? Nobody's forcing you. Do what you want. It's just fanfiction. That's kind of the point. There's no need to feel pressure to write a certain thing. I'm in a lot of fandoms with a lot of very large ships. I'd get a lot more readers if I wrote st*rek, or d*stiel, or whatever, but I don't, because I wouldn't enjoy it. Write what you want to see. What you want to read. That's the best advice I can give. If you cry at your own fic, perfect. If you laugh at your own fic, brilliant. If your own fic leaves you all giddy like, grinning wide, amazing. It's gonna give someone else that reaction, too.
Hits, kudos, comments - they're not everything. Ao3, for harry potter, has 5000 pages of fic, with some of the tags I don't like excluded. It's not a case of people not liking your fic - it's a case of people not finding it. Don't worry. Recognition will come with time. Also, the ratio for fics is kind of awful, anyway. Comments and kudos vs hits is always poor; 2%, 5%, 7%. Don't worry too much about it. If people read it, it's likely they liked it. A lot of people are just lazy, and don't press the kudos button. A lot of people are incredibly nervous, or don't know what to say, so they don't comment. Another thing; some of your fics are going to be more popular than others. This is normal. Fandom size, fandom activity, content of fic, tags - prevalence of fic type, etc etc. One of my fics has around 15k notes. the rest are all below 6k. the runner up is a whole 10k below that fic. This is to be expected, and it's nothing to tear your hair out about. Write, first and foremost, for yourself. The rest, as always, comes later.
Really, tldr; you can always fix it later. the rest comes later. recognition comes later. the best thing to do - the first thing to do, the only thing to do - is just start. Post something. Anything. And go from there however you wish.
In 2016 i had zero subscribers on Ao3. I've got 72 now. These things just take time. In 2016 i'd written 30k words. I've written 1.2 million now. These things just take time. Through fandom, mostly fanfiction, I've gained people I'd consider friends. I think it's a really cool endeavour, and I think - for your confidence, peace of mind, and social sphere - it's also a really positive one.

OTP tag game.
Tagged by @captainjowl. You know for sure than I'm struggling to pick only 10 & fit them in here. But hell, that’s fun, thank you <3
Tumblr media
Rules: Choose 10 OTPs BEFORE reading the questions, and then get to answering
1) Harry James Potter & Sirius Orion Black
2) Daniel Le Domas & Grace (Ready or Not 2019)
3) Samuel & Nathan Drake (Uncharted 4)
4) Corvo Attano & The Outsider (+probably Emily Kaldwin; Dishonored series)
5) Steve Grant Rogers & Bucky Buchanan Barnes (Marvel)
6) Tony Edward Stark & Peter Benjamin Parker (Marvel)
7) Handsome Jack & Rhys (Borderlands video game series)
8) Damon Salvatore & Elena Gilbert (TVD Books & a tv show)
9) Batman & Joker (in every universe, really)
10) Adam Jensen x Francis Pritchard (Deus Ex video game series)
1. Do you remember the episode/scene/chapter that you first started shipping 6?
I believe it didn't hit me before Spider-Man: Homecoming. Civil War was about Steve & Bucky for me, but when I saw that growing up Peter with Tony, their dynamic, chemistry. Tom & Robert are really just like that.
2. Have you ever read a fanfic about 2?
Lmao. I've read like 50% of the tag on AO3, I wrote my own & started a few wips on them. They are amazing. Plus, with that shitty canon? We didn't get enough of them & they deserved better, so it's only logical to save yourself with fanfiction.
3. Has a picture of 4 ever been your screen saver/profile picture/tumblr screen saver?
I was living with The Outsider icon on my twitter & tumblr. That one is still my Google profile picture I believe. Don't remember about having an icon with the two of them. Also had The Outsider as my lockscreen on my smartphone for a while.
4. If 7 were to suddenly break up today, what would your reaction be?
Funny how it fits canon, lmao. Rhys literally tried to erase Jack's AI in TFTBL, so I guess another day on Pandora, nothing new. They torture each other, they kiss each other, they kill other people in the process. It'll be fiiine.
5. Why is 1 so important?
I love them since the first time I met them, which was much more than 10 years ago, I don't even remember when. At some point they were the reason I was waking up & forcing myself to eat just to read more fanfiction & feel something. Even if I was drowning in pain (I was extremely depressed), it was still something. I read every fic I could find at that time. The depression that Harry went through, all these feelings, his love for Sirius. I was living through it, I could relate.
I'm currently drowning in these two again, though in a much healthier & happier state. I see their flaws & I know as much as I can. I see them differently as an adult. They saved me, they keep being my number one, I still consider making a tattoo of Padfoot/Sirius or of both Harry & Sirius together. I have many headcanons, ideas, I write fics about them. They are everything, you see? They were my choice when there was nothing, no one. They are HOME.
6. Is 9 a funny ship or a serious ship?
Both. There goes the dynamic of Jack & Rhys: torture, fighting, flirting, a lot of trauma. I'd definitely say that they are wild and comical sometimes, but they are definitely serious. With the Asylum, the mental health issues. There is so much more to it, the complexity of their relationship. The struggle of loving who you probably shouldn't (but hey, when does it work like that?) Thinking about Tettlate's Batman, about Batman: Europa & how Joker was: "You must be crazy, putting me in charge of the plan, letting me decide. Okay, well..."
Nah, they are entertaining, but this is a serious ship.
7. Out of all the ships listed, which ship has the most chemistry?
Are you kidding me? They are all the definition of CHEMISTRY. I'd say 5, but then go 2, 6, 7, 8. Come on. I'm not choosing. Most of they are WILD.
9. How many times have you read/watched the 10’s fandom?
The fandom itself? Idk. I found one of my favourite artists through this fandom. If it's about the characters themselves, I played the first game with the DLC from start to beginning, looking around every corner. Spent more than 60 hours in there. Watched a second game (my laptop can't run the game) and the DLC (obviously), since Francis is in the DLC & not in the main game. I have a tag for them on tumblr, I read fanfiction, I tried to write my own. I still follow Elias & want a third game. Elias liked my tweets about Adam and Jensen being an actual couple a few times. I'd say I interacted with all of this a lot? Still do, actually.
10. Which ship has lasted the longest?
5. Best friends since childhood, fought & died for each other, still found their way back to each other. "It would break your Captain's heart, to see what they did to you." That only the MENTION of Steve can pull Bucky out of this brain washing(ed?) state, distract him in the middle of a fight. When Steve died in the comics because of Sharon & Tony sent Natasha to take Steve's shield from Bucky because even Tony knew how much Steve means to Bucky. And Bucky was like: "Oh, I see what he did. Not happening!" Fought Natasha (that is his ex in the comics) & kept going for Steve's sake.
Well, you see the point, I can go on and on.
11. How many times, if ever, has 6 broken up?
They're not actually canon so none? They had a few fights: In Civil war (the comics), in Homecoming (the movie).  That only means that they’ve got history & love each other.
12. If the world was suddenly thrust into a zombie apocalypse, which ship would make it out alive, 2 or 8?
As fierce Grace is, they wouldn't stand a chance against Damon & Elena. Those two had to deal with worst thing than brainless stupid zombies. On the other hand, if there were no alive humans to drink their blood... It's either an animal diet that Damon hates so much or I don't know? Still, they're faster & more powerful. Their bodies have advantage of healing the wounds as well.
13. Did 7 ever have to hide their relationship for any reason?
From some people, yeah. Don't tell Athena, don't tell Vaughn, don't tell Fiona. Though Rhys wasn't very subtle about it & Jack just doesn't give a fuck. You will probably end up dead if you disagree or bore him, or if you're useless.
"I can take you to the top, but you gotta know where the top is" & Rhys doesn't tell anybody until Jack makes him the President for like whole 20 minutes lol.
Fiona & Sasha: "This can't be happening." Sure it can, darling.
14. Is 4 still together?
I have a headcanon about The Outsider finding Emily & Corvo after Billie frees him from the Void. He doesn't have anybody & they are his only friends aside from a potential friendship with Billie. And if we don't consider TOTO dlc, they definitely are! The Outsider visits them both when they sleep & takes them to the void sometimes. How could he not?
15. Is 10 canon?
Not really but also sort of? Let's say that they really care about each other in canon, despite Adam pushing Francis away because of his trauma & fear that Megan caused him. :/
16. If all 10 ships were put into a couple’s Hunger Games, which couple would win?
Can you imagine wizards fighting extremely powerful vampires? Superheroes with venom in their bodies that make them super strong with people that made a deal with the Devil himself (hi Le Bail)? 5000 y.o. God and his lover that share his powers and an augmented human protecting his tired IT guy? Combine mental health issues to that, Jack and Rhys with Batman and Joker. Corvo & The Outsider would probably slay them all as Corvo and Emily did in both games with entire islands, though it will still be a slaughter anyway.
17. Has anybody ever tried to sabotage 5’s ship?
All the fucking time, lmaooo. I’m not even talking about it.
18. Which ship would you defend to the death and beyond?
I feel like I already did with Steve & Bucky after many Marvel movies (we're not even mentioning Endg*me, I fucking died & was dead for full 4-5 months).
19. Do you spend hours a day going through 3’s tumblr page?
I used to do that a few years back, but not anymore. There is not much content since the trilogy is finished.
20. If an evil witch descended from the sky and told you that you had to pick one of the ten ships to break up forever or else she’d break them all forever, which ship would you sink?
1 already went through it & fandom lives, so I'd say maybe 7? Rhys will find a way to bring Jack back & they are both so wild. It’s what happened in canon anyway. Jack kidnapped Lilith & forced her to do Angel's job, so I'd like to see that witch try at first. Jack is an immortal bastard. <3
Now that I think about it, Corvo would also deal with her in seconds as she waits to curse them.
As a conclusion: no one breaks up forever, we're killing the witch.
I tag: @ianmillkovichgallagher & @aledbr
Whoever else wants to join the game, please do.

All 30 of the writer ask :) ♡
HOOOOEY, @hnnwnchstr So I’m going to cut out the ones I’ve already been asked and the ones that are asks for specific fics.
1. What was the first fandom and/or pairing that you wrote fic for?
Inuyasha, InuKag. Followed closely by (Vision of) Escaflowne, Van/Hitomi
2. Do you participate in any writing events or challenges throughout the year? If so, what do you like about them?
I did Inuvember last year, which was the first time I’d participated in anything like that. It was good for me to get over some of my anxiety about posting new story ideas.  I also participated in the impromptu Valentine’s Day “event” and then the more organized Inuyasha White Day earlier this year which we had a lot of fun with!
3. Do you write fics from start or finish, or jump around?
Definitely jump around.  It’s a curse for finishing plots, but it does help keep me from getting really really stuck.
4. Do you outline before you start writing? If so, how far do you stray from that outline?
Almost never?  I did a bit for Masquerade, the Inuparents side story, but mostly to make sure I didn’t forget anything and to keep it within the plotline of what I’d already written for Your Lying Smile.
5. What is the perfect environment for you to write in?
Coffee Shop, hands down. But I rarely get to do that, so often the next best thing is a comfy couch spot in my house.  I really need a better armchair...
6. If you’re really concentrating, how many words can you write in a day?
UHHH. I don’t really keep track of that very well.  I tried one of those apps that tracks it, but it was hard when I typically have multiple story tabs open at the same time.  But I think in one day, my top was like… 5000 words, give or take?  Recently.  Back before Grad School and kiddo, I probably did more in a day than that over multiple stories.
7. Which part of writing do you struggle with most?
Drawing out the plot.  My plotlines are always too short and not… complicated enough, for lack of a better word.  It’s something I’m working on.
8. Do you listen to music while you write? If so, share a song that’s been inspiring you lately.
Sometimes.  I have a Spotify list of “liked” songs that range from punk to R&B to alternative to pop.  I don’t have any specific story for it yet, but Sara Bareilles’ Once Upon Another Time has been haunting me lately.
9. Do you prefer to write AUs, canon divergence, or canon-compliant fic?
Based on my Drive folders, I’mma say AUs (43+ is hard to argue with), but Canon-Divergent is probably next in line.
10. Do you enjoy writing dialogue, exposition, or plot the most?
Exposition.  My writing is pretty description heavy with dialogue sprinkled in.
13. Is there a trope you wouldn’t write if it was the last trope on earth?
Darkfic.  I can’t not have them have a happy ending in some capacity.  It might be a little bittersweet (some of you probably know the fic I’m thinking of) but ultimately they end up together and happy.
14. If you were stuck on a desert island with only two characters, which would you pick?
Specifically from Inuyasha?  Inuyasha and Sango, because Sango would come up with a plan to get us off the island and Inuyasha would make it happen.  Also Shirtless!Inu...
16. What is your most underrated fic?
This is a weird question.  Anyway, um… I guess To Sleep Perchance to Dream?  I haven’t updated it in a while so I think it’s fallen off people’s radar.
17. What fic are you most proud of?
Return to Me, I think?  Short as it is, I think I accomplished what I set out to do in that storyline.
18. What is a line/scene you’re really proud of? Give us the DVD commentary for that scene.
Oh Lort…  Too many stories to sift through… Most recently, a scene between Izayoi and an OC in the upcoming chapter for YLS: Masquerade.  She’s understandably distraught from her ordeal and she’s trying to buck up because she knows crying won’t help anything.  But the OC, one of the other women who was taken, comforts her and reminds her that it’s alright to lean on others sometimes.  I like the tenderness of a woman being a shelter and a rock for another woman, even who don’t know one another well, instead of it being that a man comforts her.
19. Who is the easiest/hardest character for you to write about? Why?
Easiest: Inuyasha. Aside from the fact that I feel like I’ve gotten his speech patterns down decently well… I identify with him in a lot of ways.
Hardest: Erm… Miroku?  I have a hard time pinning down the intelligent grifter/perv/thoughtful monk balance.  In my AUs I tend to make him some other field rather than have him be a monk because in a different context, I doubt that would have been his path. Scholar, doctor, advisor, professor/teacher… Those make sense for him to me.
21. What is the one fic that got away?
I’m assuming this means one that I meant to write but didn’t… But that’s not really my thing.  LOL.  I keep all the WIPs. I may not keep writing all of them, but I keep them all in my “pocket” for a rainy day.
22. Have you cried while writing a fic?
Yes.  Not much, I’m not much of a crier, but I got teary writing Inuyasha’s fear/pain/regret in Given and the mutually angsty scene in Underlying Truth.
23. If you had to remix one of your own fics, which would it be and how would you remix it?
Given is actually a remix of an earlier fic I called A Demon’s kiss which started with the same premise, but focused more on them talking out their feelings and without quite the depth of emotion. But for something I’ve posted and needs a reboot, it would be A Silent Affair. I need to rewrite huge swaths of the interpersonal interactions, particularly between Inuyasha and Kagome.
30. Tell us an idea for a longfic you want to write in the future.
I mean, LONG is not really my forte (see aforementioned issues with plot development), but I have shared little bits of my post “apocalypse” fic Gone and my other space fic Caged Bird which could be longer.  I also have the Farscape AU which I haven’t officially named… still… But that will be more episodic than plot driven.

Note
Since you’re notorious for doing this to other people... 1-30
What was the first fandom and/or pairing that you wrote fic for?
The Office! :) Though if you wanna get super technical, I used to make up stories about The Mighty Ducks characters way back when, but I didn’t really write them down.
Do you participate in any writing events or challenges throughout the year? If so, what do you like about them?
Not really, I’m terrible with deadlines.  I did do the Kurt Big Bang one year, and that was amazing, and I’m proud of the story that one produced.  I’ve also done various exchanges, too, which is always fun.
Do you write fics from start or finish, or jump around?
I usually write primarily in chronological order, but I sketch things out so I know where they’re going.  I usually have a pretty good idea of the ending, and I’ll
Do you outline before you start writing? If so, how far do you stray from that outline?
Yes! Sometimes I like making the outlines more than the actual writing.  The outlines are always changing and are pretty organic.  Sometimes I’m pretty good about sticking to my original plan, sometimes the story just goes where it wants to.
What is the perfect environment for you to write in?
Quietness.  I really work best when there’s no one around, and very little sound.  For reasons I don’t fully understand, I write better at night.
If you’re really concentrating, how many words can you write in a day?
2000-5000.  I have once gotten a 10,000 day but I don’t recommend it, cause it’s like running a marathon and not recommended.  The words aren’t usually the best then.
Which part of writing do you struggle with most?
Transitions and descriptive explanations.
Do you listen to music while you write? If so, share a song that’s been inspiring you lately.
I listen to it as I outline or when I’m thinking about things, but not when I write.  Fic Tease -- For the Follower Celebration Fic I’m writing for y’all, I’ve been listening to a lot of Glee Season 4 ;)
Do you prefer to write AUs, canon divergence, or canon-compliant fic?
Yes.  I do AUs and Canon-Complaint, I don’t really do Canon Divergence unless I don’t know what is coming next.
Do you enjoy writing dialogue, exposition, or plot the most?
Dialogue comes easiest, I tend to write around that.  (Though I have to know what the plot is first)
If you could only write angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your life, which would it be?
Mmmm, I don’t like any of these on their own, I don’t think I could.
Is there a trope you haven’t written yet but really want to?
Um, no - I mean I’ve finally conquered Vampire-Smut, so I’m feeling pretty proud of myself.
Is there a trope you wouldn’t write if it was the last trope on earth?
Oh, any of the hard kink stuff, nope.  I also am not a big fan of the hurt/comfort stuff
If you were stuck on a desert island with only two characters, which would you pick?
To write for? At the moment Kurt and Blaine.
A Hollywood producer tells you that they want to film just one of your fics. Which fic would you want it to be?
Oh the one I’m writing now! It’s based on that Final Season Sketch I wrote a few years ago - there’s your glee reboot ;)
What is your most underrated fic?
One Week - (Office Fic) it was pretty ambitious, but there wasn’t smut, so people didn’t read it.
What fic are you most proud of?
With Every Broken Bone! But you know, I am pretty impressed with myself that I finished Things We Say In the Shadows, since it’s a thing I never thought I’d write, let alone 69,000 words of it.
What is a line/scene you’re really proud of? Give us the DVD commentary for that scene.
Are you guys sick of the Toe Metaphor yet? Cause this is my favorite thing ever.
“You know what it’s like?  It’s like I stubbed my toe.  And my toe hurt. A lot.  And I tried to ignore the pain in my toe, but after a while it got so bad that something had to be done.  So, instead of taking care of my toe, I chopped off my foot.  Do you know how much worse chopping off your foot feels? Of course it took me four months to figure out how much it fucking hurts.  And now I don’t have a foot.  Just a bloody stump.  I shouldn’t have cut it off.  I could have fixed the toe.”
I feel like it’s the best summation of Kurt in the summer between seasons 5 and 6.
Who is the easiest/hardest character for you to write about? Why?
Currently, Tina is the hardest to write -- I’m trying to find the ways she’s not Rachel.
What’s your favorite minor character you’ve written?
Oh the weird ones - Brittany Pierce, Dwight Schrute, anyone who can be just out there and weird.
What is the one fic that got away?
That Klaine Advent one from a few years ago.  I kinda stopped enjoying writing it, and I’ve never been back to it.  Also the 40s Noir one, but I still may go back to that at some point.
Have you cried while writing a fic?
I have!
If you had to remix one of your own fics, which would it be and how would you remix it?
I don’t know if I would, but! I know how I’d structure Things We Say in the Shadows if it were an original novel! I’d go back and forth between Kurt’s present and his past.
How did you come up with title for 236 Days?
I had to go back and look this one up, lol.  It’s an Office fic, and named as such because it takes place over the 8 months of season 2 ;)
Which idea came to you first in Things We Say in the Shadows?
The reason why Blaine decides to seek out a vampire ;) Wrote the whole story based around that idea.
Which part of Twelve Days was the hardest to write?
Some of the Avengers were hard to write for -- I wasn’t sure what to do with Wanda or Bruce.
If you were ever to do a sequel to How I Met My Soul Mate, what do you think might happen in it?
I have no idea, but it’d be about Blaine being drunk ;)
In The Experiment, what is a happy, post-fic headcanon you have about Stucky?
They buy a goat and everyone is happy :)
Send me a word. If it’s in your WIPs, include the sentence and a short summary of the fic.
You gave me - Experiment.  Sadly, it does not pop up in any of my current non-published works :(
Tell us an idea for a longfic you want to write in the future.
Clearly, I’m going to end up writing a fic where the Glee folks are in an Office setting.  (I have so much to write, my god...)

The lovely @theevolutionofledarose tagged me for an 11/11/11 - Q/A, and I loved the questions! I really miss taggames and should definitly get back to playing more often (thanks for still tagging me everyone!!! I see it, read it, adore it!) !!
Eleven guide: answer the 11Qs, make 11 new Qs and then tag 11 friendorionos!
Let’s get goin’!!!
.
.
1. Do you care how long a chapter is or it doesn’t matter?
I care! Too much. But I usually try to let the chapters be organic. If a chapter is long because it has a lot of worldbuilding, or a lot of new character introductions, or maybe gathering some plot threads, then it probably needs to be longer. And if a chapter is short, I try to go back and see where I can write it a little longer —giving scenes more plot meaning.
Ah, and my usual chapter length is between 3500 to 5000 words in my fantasy novel ‘The Serpent Kiss’.
2. What do you consider is your writing quirk?
I act out most of my dialogue and interactions. Ehm. And I like to mildly ‘method act’ my characters, meaning dressing up as them and live through their emotions and physical experiences (those that are not harming to myself or others). I write sleepy scenes when I’m tired, scary scenes when I’m scared and so on.
And, yes. I write in wig, cape and fangs once in a while. I can recommend it.
3. What’s your favourite scene you’ve ever read?
That’s too big a Q. I’ve read literally millions of scenes in all geres.. hmm but on the very top of my mind (glancing at my bookshelve) we’ve got:

4. What inspires you?
Death and art and smut.
Sometimes humor.
5. Do you have a writing space? What is it?
Yea! As of next month (slash technically this month) I’m officially a full-time writer and my physiotherapist was very stern when we talked working positions!
I have my office in the living room of our teeny apartment! It’s a homemade fold out desk, build by mr T and his dad, and it’s beautiful and had it’s mounted spot by the window. Duo screen and LED lit monster below. I love love it! And I’m super psyched about ‘moving into’ the spot. I’m also getting a serious chair so my spine will have a great time. Yay!
6. Do you have soundtrack for your WIPs?
Oh ma gawd. Yeah. All the cinematic atmospheric sounds and tunes!!
You can actually find me on Spotify and listen to all my strange sounds: CilleAlisa
7. Do you have face claims for your WIPs or just description?
Not reeeeally. I’ve got a few guys who comes close to how my characters look, but I never actually find the exact face to match the one in my head.
8. What was your hardest scene to write?
The opening one. Ugh. And I’m still not happy-happy with it. It need an editor to tell me how to tweak it.
9. What was your hardest scene to read?
Ehm. Hm... I love it when books makes me emotional. The sobbing, the bursting laugher, uh the chills!! But I do NOT like ‘the cringe’. So, all scenes that are like criiiingy social interaction or really embarrassing humiliation, is hard for me to read.
I must admit that I also have a tough time getting through scenes that are flat out poor dialogue. The unintentional cringe.. oof.
10. What’s the character you can relate to most?
Shiroin
Kiel
Deria
11. Do people close to you know you’re writing?
Yeah!!! I’m very actively trying to tell the entire WORLD that I’m writing !!
*shouts from the rooftop* IMMA WRIIITER!! IM FOLLOWING MY DREAM!!!
*trips off the ledge*
And that’s that! Thanks for reading along and now here’s my interview Qs:
Three favorite words? And why!
Fave genre?
Fave fanfic?
Fave worldbuilding detail?
Best read of 2019?
Fave book cover of all time? (Pic pls)
Most words written in one sitting?
Three main topics your passionate about in literature (class, race, social constructivism, gender, politics??)
Do you consider horror and romance lower tier genres? Why? Why not?
Three character traits that always pop up in your WIPs main cast.
Do you want to be a professional writer? Why? Why not?
