people are discoursing about the laios and shiro fight bc that was always going to happen but i do hope that wave crests quickly and we can all come to see it as what it is: literally one of the best written fights between two people who are both entirely justified in their actions and acting without any malice or cruelty of all time

#theres a tendency - especially in action and faction based media (which a lot of fantasy is or is in dialogue with) - to depict fights only #as happening between someone who Is Right and someone who Is Wrong #and getting to see a full on beatdown between two dudes who are both acting in an entirely understandible way and who both dont actually #want to hurt the other at all - to the extent where their desire to maintain a positive relationship with each other is the SOURCE of their #conflict in the first place - is just so cathartic to see #like unpopular opinion but sometimes you do just need to Fight someone to work through issues youre having #like irl i would not recommend that extent of Force obviously #but if you're two people in a situation where neither has active power over the other sometimes the healthiest option involves expressing #and receiving genuine anger that is not filtered through a social buffer #like sometimes you just need to yell that someone is pissing you off by how much they invade ur time and space and sometimes you need to #yell that someone is sabotaging your ability to interact with them by not expressing any discomfort with your behaviour ever #AND MOST IMPORTANTLY SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO BE YELLED AT #BECAUSE it sucks. it sucks to experience and until you can both share that space of feeling awful with each other youre not gonna get past #it and you're not gonna understand each other's pain #i think they're both wonderfully well written characters and its a testament to their depth as people that i can so easily understand why #and how both of them are behaving the way they do #im still only like halfway through the manga but it is like my favourite character interaction scene so far #fred says a thing #dunmeshi

anon dont say this to me i 100% agree im wld go on a whole rant about how its totally out of character for donospring to end up the way they did and sk/ttlespring being the way it is ... but i dont want to upset people bcs in the end its not that big of a deal i just love donospring so much and i miss zelda and to this day im still really sad she was played by brennan in the seven which meant she was only an aid to the other pcs and not a full pc herself ... in my head theyre still together nothing bad happened

once again thinking about MDZS' flashback placement, and how we get to see wei wuxian's sadness and regret over how he treated lwj during sunshot before we actually see their first bad fight in the yiling courier station

like, sure we are told even by wwx himself that hgj and the yllz had a feud, but the only "feud" we've seen early on is their silly teenage rivalry, and before we get to the point where their relationship is strained, we already receive bits of pieces of information that point out to lwj being worried about him, lwj trying to reach out and being denied, and finally wei wuxian's lament over what he was already beginning to understand as a misunderstanding

and we haven't even seen that fight yet

(these are just some examples i could think from the top of my head, but there are def more. what i basically mean to say is that i think it matters that we see these right before the xuanwu cave, lotus pier destruction and wwx's return flashbacks)

#interestengly we also learn that wwx thinks the yllz is an arrogant prick before we properly meet the yllz in that courier station haha #this is why i dont buy mdzs as enemies to lovers tbh. by the time we meet sunshot wangxian #present time wangxian are already flirting and wwx is even catching on to his own feelings #i think maybe because the donghua changed the flashback order to make for a more compelling season 1 #(which it did amen)#and the season finaly SLAPS and it HURTS bc it ends in that big wangxian fight #but in the novel we don't see that fight until after the events of carp tower #you're never led to believe that wangxian ever disliked each other except in the very beginning #and even then that gets debunked really fast #man. the thing is that i totally understand why adaptations changed the flashback order #the donghua was releases seasonaly. which means they need strong hooks at the end of each season #which is why they pushed the teenage flashback and wwx's return to season 1 #cql aired weekly both online and on television for the general public #so they had to go with a straightforward once and for all flashback #cause otherwise things would get way too confusing in case you missed an ep #like. changes had to be made for the sake of the media #but mdzs rly was meant to be experienced through wwx's messed up and broken little memory pieces 🥺💕#modao #lace speaks

danger time is fun and not nearly as bad a mechanic as some people like to claim. they're just salty when they lose to it

#crow.txt #like its a really hype mechanic. its fun to watch and tbh never bugged me that much to experience #granted i didnt go to tourneys ever but like #idk. both opponents are given the same things. is it kinda a reaction time game? certainly. but thats like all of fighting games #idk why its so Irredeemably Awful to a lot of players who probably never even play in tourneys they just like regurgitating the same things #repeatedly forever bc its the internet and predominantly reddit #even if the argument is that some matchups are skewed unfairly (like slayer pilebunkering repeatedly) i mean.... yeah? thats like #the fucking crux of fighting games. its not specific to danger time. you can make that argument about literally anything #you could make that argument about certain overdrive mechanics in blazblue #i can see how it would be frustrating in a tourney but if youre getting THAT big mad about losing this specific way then.. man idk #is it that different than being beaten normally. not really #the real unspoken bullshit mechanic is being able to instant kill functionally whenever you want. I talk a lot about how different fanon!Helia is from canon!Helia but not enough but how bad it is for all the characters.

Like you have Riven going from this insecure teenage boy who lashes out at anyone who challenges him to this suave bad boy who could kill the winx. People seeing Stella as a stuck up brat, thinking that she loves Bloom more than the other winx, or that she would ever choose to be selfish in ways that hurt the other characters. Or Flora going from this fairly confident young girl who loves to meet new people and hangout with others to an introverted shy mess who never speaks up and would never say something sarcastic. Not to sound like a bitch but I really do think it's time the fandom stops pretending we're better than other fandoms and don't have Fanon Versions because we do and it's messing with y'alls perception of canon so fucking bad

ik im talking a lot abt the books im reading rn (this is due to the fact that after eons of not having the time or energy i am once again reading books) but theydies i can happily announce that after 2 unsuccessful weapons and wielders books soulbrand has truly captured my enamoration once again i’m kissing keras lovingly and tenderly (the only way to kiss him)

keep having this dream where I'm all fuckin. grey and shit. something about teal? and im talkign with my fucking rival on some old chat app but the letters look all weird. I think he's jade colored for some reason too idfk. it's not even a nightmare but this is the 3rd time and I haate it, what the fuck is my brain doing this time?
