the legends of localization book has reawakened my love for the nuances of translation and now i REALLY wanna take all the undertale dialogue and narration and translate it into french. for funsies

i'd like to think chuuya knows bits of french to some extent bc rimbaud would often randomly exclaim smth or mumble to himself in his native tongue and chuuya would overhear and pick up the little phrases and store it in the back of his mind unconsciously bc of his intrinsically observant nature, only for those phrases to resurface again when he's fighting verlaine and verlaine goes "sacre bleu!" or some shit and chuuya's like "Oh. OH. IVE HEARD THAT BEFORE...WASNT THAT WHAT SUB EXEC RANDOU ALWAYS USED TO SAY...." and verlaine completely halts with a nebulous expression on his face before going "who?????"

all is well in france! they didn't just lie about the teenager trying to run over a cop who was supposedly standing in front of the car to stop him (when in reality he was on the side at the car window pointing his gun directly in the car), most of the first media reports presented the kid as a recidivist delinquent to twist the narrative in their favor even though he had no record! also in the video that debunked their claims of legitimate defense, the policeman can be heard saying "open or I'll shoot you in the head". also it's not said here but most of the poc killed by the police in france are men and the numbers of killings by the police are steadily on the rise over the last few years (because of one law that was put in place in 2017 or around that time and gives policemen more situations in which they can use their weapons for legitimate defense or public security) if you still think France is the country of human rights and freedom bla bla bla, think again

I am very surprised that in Chip and Dale Park Life appeared next to Donald, and members of his family and his friends. I mean Daisy Duck, Gyro Gearloose and Donald's nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie. I already knew about Gyro (that they used the Topolino version) since I watched some episodes (yes, I recommend this series to watch, it's very funny), but I didn't know that Daisy and Donald's nephews also appeared, so this scene excited me . Unfortunately they are sad, because Donald got lost (probably went crazy and went out into the wild to live with the animals), but I don't know exactly what Donald's nephews look like, so I just have this picture.

Still, I'm happy about these cameo appearances and I'd like more.

i like how when i’m imaging rick and michonne coming back to alexandria and reuniting the entire group and rick meeting rj and reuniting with judith and seeing maggie and hershel again (and maybe seeing negan again😭😭??? that’ll be so funny and tension will be so high) but then i remember daryl’s in FRANCE and maggie and hershel and negan are in the dead city (i forgot where that’s is but im 98% it ain’t close to alexandria idk i haven’t watched the show yet)

Incredibly beautiful young woman from France from years ago on YouTube. This video has aged well, as we are pretty sure she has as well. SuperWoman in an "S" t-shirt loves her cigarettes! Still does!

So she's more of a super "stylish" smoker than a super "powerful" smoker. Small distinction for some of us; a huge difference for a sizable group of SF aficionados as well! Really one of the most attractive women to be captured smoking on YouTube! Ever!

Not the greatest production values for it might have been recorded well before it was posted. It is what it is. What we've got is smashing! Technology not withstanding! This teenager from France ⏤ or is she in her young-20s? ⏤ is the classic example of a "one-and-done'r!" No doubt. Never saw her before; never saw her after. Our collective loss for she is utterly gorgeous! As of now, this 7-year-old clip has collected 100,00-plus views on YouTube. YT poster/author "Smoking Hott" left the following comment with the video:

"This French girl is literally smoking hot as she smokes in her Superman shirt! A definite treat for all the senses . . ."

i have genuinely so many thoughts about how the book Lieutenant Hornblower was adapted and how most of the changes work, when accounting for the fact it must necessarily leave Bush's POV in order to work as television, and how those changes end up fucking over Bush's character in the movies, and how he was further pilfered by the series' decision to maintain characters like Styles and Kennedy. There is so much going on in there. Unfortunately, I don't yet own a copy of Lieutenant Hornblower, and having to constantly borrow it from my library is a faff and prevents me using post its to mark important passages. :(

I know you said norway wouldn't have beef with anybody, but Imagine scotnor/scotfra drama👀

I think I've actually said once that if Norway were to not get along with someone, that'd be France. Ik Scotland and France were on opposite sides during the Napoleonic Wars, but this is the one time where Denmark-Norway is on France's side and I took the opportunity to draw some cool uniforms 🙈 Now, historically, I can just picture Denmark-Norway meeting with France and Scotland for diplomatic reasons throughout the centuries, and France noticing Norway being a bit upset whenever Denmark and Scotland would get along. France wrongly thinks Norway is jealous over Denmark and teases him over it, but then at the end just "ahh don't worry about it, Scotland is with me, he will not steal Denmark from you" and Norway just steaming and unable to say anything.

It took me about five years to realize that they had shot two versions of the Far Cry 5 live-action trailer “The Sermon”. In one, they sing “Amazing Grace”, and in the other, it’s “We Will Rise Again”.

By the way, there’s a cinematographic detail in the second version that I really like; we can see the reflection of the “lost sheep” in Joseph’s glasses:
