hii!! Do you guys have any fanfic recommendations with that headcanon where everyone in SoHo is afraid to talk to Aziraphale because of his angry husband (crowley)? i also actually accept any indication of fanfics that look a little like that scene from S2 where Crowley goes to rescue Aziraphale in the pub
thank you in advance! I love your work on this tumblr, you are life savers. kisses xxx
Hello. Here are some Whickber Street fics featuring a protective Crowley...
A group of the two of us. by Mimisempai (G)
After what happened at the last shopkeepers' meeting, Mr. Brown asks Aziraphale to host another one, and this time a real one. Aziraphale agrees, but wants to do so well that he forgets to take care of himself. Fortunately, Crowley is there to remind him and lend a hand. However, this meeting may hold another surprise for the demon.
Brown's World Of Misguided Assumptions by WaitingToBeBroken (T)
Mr Brown, Brown's World of Carpets, is not a stranger to the criminal world. He can clearly tell that the man who has started to visit Mr. Fell down the road is up to no good. And he is desperate to help the kind bookseller escape the world of crime. Crowley, on the other hand, is unsure why this homophobic idiot is so insistent on bothering him.
Happy New Year, angel by Siobhans_world (T)
Aziraphale invites Crowley to a party thinking they're finally free to become 'an us'. Best friends turned into lovers. Little do they know Hell has promoted Shax to become the next representative for Hell in London. This short story is set between Season 1 and Season 2, explaining some of the unanswered questions; why Crowley never told Aziraphale he was living in his car and why they're so touchy-feely in Season 2.
Human expressions of love by Tossukka (M)
People in Aziraphale's neighbourhood unexpectedly start acting overly amorous towards him. Whatever the reason, it doesn't seem to affect Crowley's feelings at all, which could be explained either by him being a demon or by the non-magical attraction he has felt for the angel since ancient times. Between strangers writing Aziraphale terrible love poetry, Crowley trying to scare off the angel's suitors, and a trip to Tadfield to learn more about love spells, Crowley has to try his best to help Aziraphale solve the situation while keeping his own feelings in check.
Year of the Snake by RedThistle (T)
Mr. Fell is a sweet man (as long as you don’t try to buy his books). That’s undeniable. His partner on the other hand…well, less than savory assumptions have been made. 3 times a Soho resident thought Crowley was up to something very sinister + 1 time they knew he wasn’t.

Apparently ‘Crowley gets mistaken for a sex worker’ is a sub genre now and I am here for all of it from the heartbreaking to the hilarious and especially if it involves Mr Brown of Brown’s World of Carpets vying for Aziraphale’s attention. (And this fic where Mr Brown thinks Crowley is in the mafia is great too.) Give me more please internets!

Why do Aziraphale & Crowley go to the pub?
There’s no obvious reason, right? They could have talked about the 25 Lazarii miracle and the Nina & Maggie love plan in the bookshop. Jim was obviously there for the miracle so he knows about it and its real purpose, and he was there for Aziraphale and the angels discussing the miracle strength and Aziraphale's lie. Later Crowley will do the awning-of-a-new-age plan in front of Jim, even before* he gets wine-drunk and protective and tries to get Jim to out himself as Gabriel. Jim also knows about the song he himself sang that Aziraphale performs for Crowley on the street outside the pub.
There’s nothing that happens during the pub outing that Jim doesn’t know already except that Crowley is a sap who watches Richard Curtis films and/or fell in love under an awning (I think the latter).
So why go to the pub, which is apparently not their normal routine? Am I missing something?
If there’s a reason that doesn’t meet the eye, I’m thinking it’s one of the following:
To ensure that Mr. Brown asks Aziraphale to host the shopkeepers meeting so everyone on the street will be inside the bookshop/embassy Thursday evening.
To show themselves together acting normally (or as normally as these drama queens get) to anyone watching.
To keep an eye on someone in the pub.
To make sure someone on the street overhears the song.
This is a different timeline and some details are different enough that it necessitates having this conversation outside the bookshop.
Am I missing something? Is there another reason for not having this discussion in the bookshop? Is this a ⭐Clue⭐? Or did Neil just want them to go to the pub? Has anyone addressed this?
*Assuming time is normal (ha!)

"She Had Balls!" "Well-"
Tumblr media
So we all know the part of Episode two where Crowley and Aziraphale are discussing fictitious ways to try and get Nina and Maggie to fall in love. Aziraphale brings up Jane Austen and says the following: "People would gather..and do some formal dancing. And then realized they had misunderstood eachother and were actually, deeply in love!" Then after Crowley states that sounds unlikely, Aziraphale says "Works everytime apparently"
Then later when the actual ball he plans is happening, we see him gearing up and getting all excited to ask Crowley to dance- and then him quickly swooping him away with a giggle.
Tumblr media
Now...maybe I'm overthinking things as per usual... But was our dear Mr. Fell under the hopes that dancing with Crowley would get the demon to recognize Aziraphales feelings for him? He had promised it would be a night to remember after all. I mean, Crowley basically described him and Aziraphales meeting in Eden when he was describing his idea of falling in love (that he ""saw in a Richard Curtis film"") Would it be too out of the blue to wonder if Aziraphale would try and use the lovey dovey ball fantasy he was reenacting to his advantage? Constantly insisting that they're safe, nothing could possibly go wrong, and that Crowley was exaggerating? Maybe he just wanted a night of dancing with his crush without anything going wrong so the Jane Austen magic would work.

Thinking about Whickber street more...
AFTER Aziraphale leaves for Edinburgh but BEFORE Shax interrogates Crowley, the street is FULL AS HELL of extras in bizarre costumes that are anachronistic as hell (pun intended, stick with me...) Two or more recurring extras in this shot alone...
Tumblr media
AFTER Shax ostensibly leaves to go interrogate Aziraphale when he's driving back in the Bentley, and as soon as Aziraphale gets back to Whickber street, it's quiet as hell (early morning, yes, but still...) AND the Extras who ARE present are dressed VERY NORMALLY. Almost boring compared to before...
Tumblr media
As soon as Aziraphale is back and parks the Bentley, we start to see extras come onto the street from around the corner in incredibly bright colors as before.
Hypothesis:
Either people are right and Aziraphale has been generating the Weirdness (I think this feels less likely given he was in Edinburgh when Crowley was doing the Awning of a New Age and during Shax' interrogation, where we see LOTS of weird extras).
Shax has been behind it to some extent all along. Illusions? Demons? Who knows at this point, maybe Illusions since we see extras teleporting ALL OVER THE PLACE between shots.
Shax is KNOWN to be able to teleport at will, and change her appearance at a moment's notice. She's also CONSTANTLY shown to dress anachronistically, either in her Conspicuous Royal Family And Speaks Like The Queen outfit:
Tumblr media
Or in her 70s-vibes-hitchhiker outfit:
Tumblr media
Or whatever the fuck this outfit is trying to be lol:
Tumblr media
I also feel like it's important that, so far, Shax is the ONLY OTHER DEMON besides Crowley that doesn't have some kind of Gross Feature to her demon self in Hell. She's got her teeth, yes, but she seems to summon those at will as an intimidation tactic rather than as a 'baseline' demon trait.
My brain hurts.

After Muriel inevitably began telling people that Mr. Fell had "gone to Heaven", Nina had to think quickly and as she was looking at the bookshop across the street through the window of her shop and thinking of Gabriel's arrival... and also then at the table where she first met Crowley some half-hour after the naked guy had first arrived on the bookshop steps... and, well, this is how she and Maggie ended up spending an afternoon making a website for a fake Christian sex addiction facility in the country named "Heaven."

I see them everywhere.
Albatrosses tend to pair for life, and it can take a while to find the right partner. Reunited pairs go through an elaborate, synchronized ritual of braying, wing spreading, and bill tapping to reaffirm their bonds before getting down to the business of breeding.

Map of Soho Good Omens Season 2 - Part 1 (Location and general map)
Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
Update: Map now identifies Lucky Snake and the coffee shop listed in Aziraphale's clipboard may indeed be Give Me Coffee I think we all have wondered how the GO Soho looks like and where it would be in real London. So using all the screenshots, BTS pictures and videos I could find I did my best to map out where things are. It is not to scale but everything I could see is there. I originally had all the pictures and explanations in this post but soon it became obvious it was going to be too long and impractical so I had to split it in different posts and I hope I got it right. The map has five reference points (circle with two diverging lines); imagine the circle is you, standing in the set, and the lines are your viewpoint if you were taking a picture from there. The left side of Whickber Street (#1 and #2) is in Part 2, the intersecting street (#3 and #4) is in Part 3 and the right half of Whickber Street (#5) is in Part 4.
Tumblr media
As to where the bookshop would be in real London. We know that Whickber Street is supposed to be Berwick Street so let's start there. The intersecting street is not obvious from the show. In this post Neil said he imagines the bookshop to be where Gosh! Comics is (Peter Street) while Michael Ralph and Douglas McKinnon probably put it at The Week (on Broadwick Street). Because it is ambiguous and really you can do whatever you want, I just left it as "intersecting street". We know from the book that Crowley takes Wardour Street after the bookshop fire. Wardour is behind Berwick so in our map it would be where the Chinese Buffet Restaurant is, considering they run more or less parallel. On the other side, we have the Windmill Theatre located on Great Windmill Street. From Berwick St. and Peter St. it takes three minutes to walk to the theatre, it is that close! (yes, I know, Crowley was conducting business two blocks from the bookshop while not talking to Aziraphale for 80 years). I have never been in that part of London so I used Google Maps streetview and based only on that, I like the corner of Berwick St. and Broadwick St. better. It has the crooked intersection but the proximity of the theatre matches Peter St. better, so whatever works better for you!
Tumblr media
There is one place missing from the set map though: Brown's World of Carpets! It is nowhere to be found, we simply don't know where it is My very personal headcanon is that it is nothing but a desk inside the furniture store. I find that idea of the guy most worried about storefront looks being the one without a storefront very amusing, but don't mind me, it is just my very silly hc XD Now, we know Aziraphale has a list for the shops he needs to visit. And we know he wrote it in alphabetical order which begs the question: Where is the Dirty Donkey?! Are they not invited? And what about the fabric shop? And Bilton Scaggs? Battye and Palm? The News Agency? Is "Mo Coffee? No Coffee?" supposed to be Give Me Coffee or Give Me Death? Or is there another coffee shop somewhere? @crow-bee23 suggested it could be "Me Coffee" which it is entirely possible, the full name is kind of long. So many questions to ask Mr. Brown.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, I put pictures and details on the shops in parts 2, 3 and 4. Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4

cant wait for this parallel to show up in s3 when the whole of whickber street checks in on crowley
Tumblr media
still cant decide if the "im the reason you wont come home" line should be put on crowley regarding aziraphale not coming back to earth or not fleeing to alpha centauri because azi wants to change heaven for him
or crowley thinking his demonicness (read: inherent evilness) is why aziraphale would do anything to restore his angelic status (EXTREMELY LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER. ITS BECAUSE AZIRAPHALE KNOWS CROWLEY SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN CAST OUT. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE NEIL GAIMAN TOLD ME IN A DREAM.)

Whickber Street and beyond (sorry this is so long!!)
I have A LOT of questions. Like so many questions.
The Whickber Street of S1 is so different from the Whickber Street we see in S2.
This is what we got in S1. Muted colors, concrete and steel, and overcast skies. Nothing about Whickber Street stands out in S1. It's dull and drab.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Compare that to the Whickber Street we see in S2.
The sun seems to be shining most of the time. People are wearing bright colors. There are trees.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whickber Street seems to be a small island of paradise and a safe place for everyone who ventures there.
What is happening here? Is this because Adam changed reality after the failed apocalypse? Why do we never see anyone spend money?
Is this the peaceful existence that Aziraphale and Crowley have carved out for themselves?
Or is someone else pulling all the strings?
When Crowley questioned Nina about the name of her coffee shop, she said all the other names were taken.
Mutt runs the magic shop that Aziraphale and Crowley visited in 1941, and we all know the original owner was eaten by the Nazi zombies. The magic shop still looks very much like it did in 1941 too.
It's strange that there is a French restaurant, and French is the only language in the world that Aziraphale isn't fluent in.
Maggie runs a record shop even though no one buys records anymore, but it's where Aziraphale gets his music.
How long has the Dirty Donkey been an elevator for Heaven and Hell?
Nina seems to be the only character who ever notices that things on Whickber Street are...strange? She immediately notices that things are weird when she walks into the shopkeepers meeting. She was upset that she wasn't upset because she knew she had a reason to be upset. She constantly questions why Maggie owns a record shop because no one buys records.
She even says she would be more worried about someone breaking into the record shop to leave more records, and Maggie has gained A LOT of copies of "Every Day" that she's never going to be able to sell.
It's weird that she ends up with all the extra copies of "Every Day" from a pub in Scotland and it happens to be a clue that leads Aziraphale to investigating what might have happened to Gabriel.
The very place where the Gabriel statue exists. The one they were standing in front of when Crowley was pulled back down into Hell after preventing Elspeth from killing herself. The one Aziraphale was standing in front of when he was having that exact memory and says that was the last time he was to see Crowley for a long time.
Why did he end his diary entry with that sentence when it had only been a month since they had been to Edinburgh? Did he write that or was it an afterthought?
Why does Gabriel seem to be a harbinger of doom for Crowley and Aziraphale?
What's the significance of faces? Is all of this a dream?
Gabriel lost his memory and Aziraphale names him Jim to avoid confusion. Aziraphale and Crowley did a miracle that would ensure no one would recognize Gabriel/Jim even if they were looking for him.
Is this something that has been done to Aziraphale and Crowley when you see all the other familiar faces?
Maggie shares a face with the Chattering Nun that Hastur killed.
Nina shares a face with the Chattering Nun who became successful after their order was dissolved.
Furfur shares a face with Shakespeare and Shax shares a face with Madame Tracy.
Why do Aziraphale and Crowley not notice? I can understand them not noticing Maggie's face because we didn't see either of them interact with her in season one because Hastur killed her. But Crowley remembered Mary as the nun he met when he met her in season one, but he doesn't notice anything familiar about her face now? She mistakes them for a couple in both seasons.
Aziraphale literally lived in Madame Tracy's body for a short while after he accidentally got himself discorporated. It's not a face he or Crowley would forget because she was there when they averted the apocalypse. Why would they not notice that Shax shares her face?
Aziraphale was friendly with Shakespeare and loved his plays and Crowley did a miracle as a favor to Aziraphale so that Hamlet would be a success.
All four of these faces are in Aziraphale's bookshop on Whickber Street at the same time in the final episode.
Am I overthinking all of this? My brain refuses to accept that these actors returned to the show but in different roles for no reason at all.
So many things about the present day in season two just don't add up, and I think it's intentional, but it's going to drive me crazy until I have answers.
Will Aziraphale's absence on Whickber Street change things?
Is that the tempest Gabriel was referring to? The Metatron tempted Aziraphale back to Heaven by making him believe he would be able to work with Crowley.
And then great storms. Will his absence mean the weather is no longer perfect?
And the dead will walk the Earth once more.
Are the people on Whickber Street more than what they seem?
If anyone else actually reads this, are these the same questions you have as well??

I trust Terry Pratchett's legacy more than I trust you.
Have fun getting destroyed in season 3!
I trust Terry Pratchett's legacy too, anon.
Tumblr media
Spoilers for Night Omens/ Good Watch below.
After the Second Coming and Rapture, Crowley and Aziraphale travel back in time to try to stop the earth's destruction. They team up with the Whickber Street Shopkeeper's Association and have their famous last stand in Soho, all of them versus all of Heaven and Hell. They lose. They die. The past cannot be changed. The Great Plan cannot be stopped. Armageddon proceeds and my Heavenly Kingdom is established.
But, once a year, on the universe of their failure and my final victory, I visit the memorial I made for them and leave eccles cakes and pansies on their grave, because I'm not without pity or compassion. I remember them all quite fondly, actually. I will always regret being unable to convince them to join me. It would have saved their lives.
