one of the biggest things I've gotten out of this replay of dark souls 1 is that not being able to warp between bonfires in early game and only being able to warp between a few specific ones later is one of the game mechanics that really helped define the mood and atmosphere of the game for me. yes i absolutely complain about this when I'm stuck somewhere, but the feeling of being this tiny person lost and a million miles from home and cut off from the safety of firelink shrine is so vital to the game
being near the start of tomb of giants and wanting to go back for something but knowing I'd have to go through a chunk of the catacombs again made me feel like just a little guy stuck in the dark with monstrous enemies and that is exactly the feeling that makes me love the game
i want to be a nobody stranded and alone in the land of ancient gods who don't want me there. the fact I'm a pawn being set up to relink the fire and perpetuate this dying age, fated to never have my name remembered, is the point to me. I'm walking through someone else's story and have so little control over my path and that's perfect

Please intentionally attempt to see the magic in everything. Everything is magic, even if you understand the "boring" reasons why things happen. Look at the magic in growing plants, the magic of your muscles flexing and retracting, the magic of your eyes and skull, the magic of a cat's purr.
It's all magic. Understanding the "why" is just understanding what makes things magical, it doesn't change that it's all significant and magic.

i think my breaking point if I was told I was an elf and whisked away to the lost cities would be the leggings. like okay. my family isn't my family, there's a whole secret world, i'm the creation of a rebel organization, there's a different rebellion trying to kill me, the world is rotting from the inside out, okay. I can cope. it'd be annoying and difficult but I could cope. but you want me to wear leggings with everything? under skirts and dresses? with every outfit? no. fuck off I'm out I can't do this anymore

I just want to say that you feel kind of like a conterculture of sorts in the marauders fandoms, most people try to make all the relationships traditionally healty and curated and then you come in and go: hey, yeah, love and obsesion are almost the same for Evan and Barty, kinks exist, they are all pretty bad in the head
thank you for saying this! to an extent, that's something i intentionally try to do, so it makes me happy to hear this ♡
i think my core goal with fandom is always just to deepen Character Specificity. dynamics don't necessarily have to be freaky and weird, but i think i just have a deep dislike for generic incorrect-quotes-type characterization because it can just be a little reductive...
yeah i make barty & evan kind of fucked, but i do genuinely care about their motivations. i'm only interested in any given characters for their individual peculiarities. it's fun to parse out the exact facets of what makes anyone unique & strange and then see how they slot together with others !!

Anyway I was thinking about Chris a lot lately and I wanted to draw Brent today so why not draw both!
(Angel is Chris' daughter who is like. 6 or 7. And she very happily has announced she will marry Mr. Right when she grows up and Right is just like "yes exactly, see, Chris? One person loves me enough to marry me I love my future wife" and it drives Chris up a wall. Brent normally calls her Angel but sometimes he has to push the button.)

I have a big google doc thing where I keep track of media and stuff (putting everything in loosely ranked categories), which is mostly just for my own reference so I know what tv shows I've already seen before, etc. and I never really look back through it, typically just a quick "okay, watched two movie in the past 8 months, need to quickly slap them somewhere in the lists. okay. done. save document. exit". But today I was actually reading through some of the old notes and there are like... MULTIPLE places where my comment is basically "It would have been good if it were about elves" or "I wish there was a fantasy show made in this same style" or "It's well made, but I just keep thinking about how I would like it more if everyone was an elf or was in old 1700s costumes" or etc like...... lol.... Most biased media ranking system on earth blatantly made by someone with an extremely hyperspecific range of narrow interests. It'd be like if a food reviewer only had 5 foods they actually liked, so they'd just go to a pizza place and be like "eh, the pizza was okay, but I just think it would be better if it was cereal instead. :/ ...2 out of 10"

hmm i don't think the nuances of astarion's reaction to araj is to do with him finding romanticisation of his vampirism specifically to be distasteful so much as, like, she's objectifying him and that's what he doesn't like (but instead of sex, it's based on his vampirism). something something there's a difference between strangers and someone you trust something

No bc fuck tim but it really really bothers me how people ignore his growth like he used to be an asshole and I’ll give tim Stans one thing: now he’s so so so stale but what I disagree with is that this staleness is bc nobody likes him like it’s in fact the exact opposite where everyone likes him so much they dont want to do anything. Even when it’s him surface level challenging Bruce it’s when everyone else is doing it too; but he’s still the backbone of the fam! Etc. and it’s so irritating bc him gaining more compassion and empathy even for people he doesn’t fw is so fun to watch and that’s why the captain boomerang thing was so out of character! (Not in a from the author way but in a tim wouldn’t do that and he and Bruce both knew it which is why it went down like it did. Same way dick killing joker was ooc; not in fanon sense but in a he would hate himself forever for this sense) and speaking of that it’s such an interesting mirror to Bruce who genuinely believes that everyone can grow vs Tim’s it doesn’t matter if they grow it’s not my decision to make like it’s the same but it’s not AND WITH CASS’ IT DOESNT MATTER IF THEY CHOOSE NOT TO GROW I WONT DO IT! like ugh. And anyways even when people acknowledge it they boil it down to “Janet and Jack taught him that the capitalist pigs that they are” like no. This is who tim was. Tim was the kind of guy who’d blame a dead kid for dying. That’s ok. Also Janet and Jack? Please reread anything involving them that’s not a fic like Jack had anger issues and they were both aloof at worst like relax.

I don't get the people telling others that they're not allowed to like or dislike a character for whatever reason. These are fictional characters, liking Wen Ruohan because he's pretty or disliking Jiang Cheng because he's rude, people can like and dislike them for whatever reason and it doesn't have anything to do with them irl.
Fanons and headcanons are cool too, even if they're ooc or soften/harshen characters, at the end of the day yea they're not canon? They're fictional characters, its not harming anyone, you have no reason to attack someone personally over them, no one needs to have justification to write something as if its a moral offence they're committing and not writing fanfics.
And at the same time, while people are allowed to like whatever character they like for whatever reason, no one also has the right to tell other fans they're not allowed to dislike a character for whatever reasons, yes, a character can be born into a homophobic and sexist society, grow up to be a homophobe and sexist learning it, and fans still have the right to dislike them for it (and its mostly queer fans who're told they shouldn't dislike because of character's complex-past, no, you have no right to tell them whether they are allowed to feel a certain way about a character).
These are fictional characters we're debating over with real people, be respectful to each other. There's no one 'bad side' or 'good side'. Stans, antis, neutral tag users, a lot of people from each of them have been rude to others over simple disagreements. If you don't agree with the person's points or think they're misinformed on cultural aspects or whatever the reason, be polite, its might be hard when you think they're being bigoted or whatever, call it out but there's no reason for you to send death threats over it.
And speaking in context of this canon tag being flooded with fanons and headcanons intentionally mistagged as a way of 'reclaiming it', yes you can point out its not canon actually with supporting text or ask the person for supporting text whatever, talk about the novel, not the person. Same to reclaimers, don't attack people if you disagree with them, ask for source if you want.
