Obey me brothers X rich spoiled MC
SFW
Featuring:
Brothers+side characters excluding Solomon and Luke and Simeon (sorry)
I am happy to introduce Lord Diavolo and Barbatos to the scenarios i write so requests are open for them too :V
Enjoy!
Lucifer:
•He really doesn't care about your money he thinks it's impressive to be making billions at your age but he really doesn't like how spoiled you are
•He likes it when you buy him gifts and presents (he will never admit it though)
•He hates when you spend your money on useless products but then it don't even effect your bank account so he let happen
Mammon:
•At first he didn't really understand how crazy rich you are but then he asked you sarcastically to buy him a new car and you did!
•When he asked how did you manage you just showed him your own personal Goldie and he understood immediately that this little card is the key to access endless money
•People who don't really know him will think that he likes you because of your money and it makes him sad because everyone who knows him well knew that you were his love at first sight way before he knew about your money and wealth
•He sometimes hates it when you blow your money on him because you think that's what he wants all the time
•NO human! Sometimes he wants love and attention and simple surprises as small as a kiss on the cheek.
Levithan:
•He feels bad because all you were to him was his personal piggy bank but it all changed when he started to fall in love with you
•Now he only asks for things that are not materialistic like Kisses, hugs, praise
•And he knows how much you love him because any game he talks about you have it signed by the developer and bought waiting for him at his room when he comes home from RAD
•You really love how no matter how much he gets used to your gifts he is always so grateful and thankful when you get him something new
•And it makes you love him more every single day.
Satan:
•Much like Lucifer he is impressed of how much you make
•Hates it when you get all spoiled and bratty but then again he gets it you have all the right to spoil yourself it's your hard earned money after all
•Loves all the expensive hard to find books you buy for him
•he loves it when you let him spoil you from time to time it makes him happy as much as it makes you
Asmodeus:
•Dummy was going with you to salons and hair dressers shopping sprees without even realizing how much you spend
•once he checked the tag on one of your dresses that you bought for a party and almost passed out at the price
•10.000$!!!!!! For a mini dress that barely had any fabric
•he starts regretting making you buy his products but then you reassure him that it's ok and he can get what he wants
•he is hesitant at first but then he just let's it happen.
Beelzebub:
•This baby boy was getting food from you and eating it not realizing how much it actually cost you
•he once told you to not spend money on him and you almost cried on the spot he panicked asking what's wrong
•you just want to spoil him and show him how much you love him and he keeps refusing you
•then he asked you to balance between your material love and physical love
•this baby just wants to be held and kissed from time to time give him that.
Belphie:
•We all know he is the king of spoiled and bratty and you are his queen
•both of you like the attention and items you get for the both of you
•he sometimes feels guilty and stops spending with you instead showing you how much he loves you and not just your money
•but you keep spending none stop and you both go back to old habits of spending, sleeping, cuddling, sex and repeat.
Side characters:
Diavolo:
•You are at his level of wealth and thinks it's nice to meet someone at his level at something for once
•he likes spending as much as you do but he has a sense of responsibility unlike you
•he likes it when you spoil him and make him feel taken care of for a change
•He hates when you have literally everything and he can't gift you anything because you already have it all same on your side
•so when it's birthdays or occasions where gifts are supposed to be given you both give something money cannot buy...
Your bodies :)
Barbatos:
•Oh you have money....cool
•he doesn't give a shit and you know it that's why you keep trying to impress him with food, tea and mice poison but nothing does
•and he likes when you go to incredible lengths to get his attention and approval it shows him how much you really want him
•unlike the others he doesn't accept your gifts and wants you to stop being so spoiled but your puppy eyes always win
•he ends up being grateful he accepted your gifts and likes it so much you are the only one who knows what he wants most.

A lot of what folks have been emphasizing about the BDS movement (which is an acronym for: boycott, divestment, and sanctions) is that it is NOT meant to be a quick or temporary solution -some BDS movements have lasted decades (South Africa being the first example I can think of), and I wanted to talk a little about this here because sustainability is an important element within this as well.
So, the top 3 that were suggested (and seems unanimous by lots of voices on social media) is McDonald's, Disney, and Starbucks, which have many agreed is a GREAT start because these are HUGE multi-billion dollar industries, whose profits margins are astonomical. There were 2 points I wanted to make into this post, and that includes:
When you're boycotting Starbucks, it means you're not purchasing their coffee beans/teas/tea concentrates/iced beverages/etc from stores as well. I listened to a person on tiktok talk about how Starbucks actually receives the most revenue from this, just a reminder for folks that's also included in this long-term BDS movement, ALL products from Starbucks must be boycotted.
Disney products, passes for the parks, Disney plus/etc are all included in this boycott, as I am sure you are aware. Anything Disney is involved in production-wise is as well. People have been talking about boycotting Snow White and the upcoming Marvels, for obvious reasons; this is just ANOTHER reminder to hit them where it hurts financially. Don't attend the shows -if you need to watch them later or even elsewhere (and I'm not suggesting anything specific per-say, but you know what I mean).
McDonald's seems self-explanatory, but finding alternatives to fast food and convenience items is key here as well.
And lastly, as I mentioned, SUSTAINABILITY is so important! Yes, we can always find a new local cafe or a coffee shop we like (or start making our drinks at home/find other convenience products to use), and sure we can find other fast food options while on the go or again, prepare a snack or meal in advance. We also can find other places to watch shows, to go out and find places to have a good time -but please, remember this isn't like 'when the ceasefire happens we go back to Starbs/McD's/Disney.'
It will include lifestyle changes for SO many of us, and there are plenty of other companies on that list (which includes Lo'Real, who owns a TON of makeup lines -so for so many folks, it's going to be something we find what works best for us -the key is not to get overwhelmed with these dozens of subsidiary companies and labels, but to focus on these 3 at first and then go from there).
Just a final reminder: please don't harrass workers at any of these stores/companies. They aren't alighing themselves with their company's values and statements, they're just folks earning money/an income like us and are navigating this shit just as much as we are.
I've been learning a lot from people who do research on BDS movements, and they can be effective, but it is something we must persist with.
Also, if you already have products from any of the brands listed, don't waste them. Use them, and of course go from there. You don't have to feel pressured to throw a hair product or makeup or coffee beans in the trash. This is about what you do AFTER using them up/and find something else hopefully with a brand that doesn't support Israeli apartheid and colonial violence.
Another huge area we must tackle is BIG TECH, especially since a lot of children (but of course this includes EVERY Congolese person) are being used to mine the Cobalt that is used to make laptops, phones, tablets/etc. They are doing this with THEIR BARE HANDS in the heinous of conditions in the Congo, and are paid terribly -every aspect of this 'work' is a form of modern enslavement.
There are ultimately many things we need to do, and there are steps that have been given by so many amazing Creator's talking about these issues, so with as much solidarity as possible --do your research, support brands/companies that stand by people being oppressed by imperial/colonial forces because this doesn't end until we are all safe, and free from violence.

When you have time I would LOVE to hear your thoughts about post time skip buggy!!
Hi, anon! Sorry for the late-ish reply. I thought carefully about how I wanted to reply, but alas, here I am again, starting my metas in the strangest places. Anyways, here’s a seemingly unimportant question: Why is it funny that Buggy keeps failing upwards?
My answer also happens to be one of Pixar's 22 Rules of Storytelling:
"Coincidences to get characters into trouble are great; coincidences to get them out of it are cheating."
You might be wondering why I chose this quote -- after all, Buggy manages to escape most conflicts by sheer coincidence. Take the canon-filler episode(s) “Little Buggy's Big Adventure,” for example; coincidence is the sole reason why he ends up on Gaimon’s island and eventually finds Alvida, one of his future allies. But for as much as Oda is guilty of using coincidences to benefit Buggy, he also creates coincidences to get Buggy into trouble. Sure, Buggy left on good terms with Gaimon/found Alvida, but only after:
Suffering a humiliating defeat at the hands of Luffy
Losing most of his body
Being chased by killer fish/eaten by a ginormous bird
Nearly getting shot in the head by Gaimon over a misunderstanding
Being chased AGAIN by a deadly crab???? LMAO???
Buggy’s “luck” functions like a pendulum -- for every good thing that happens to him, horrible things are guaranteed to follow. This core aspect of his character is what keeps the gag afloat. Buggy is never rewarded by the narrative without experiencing consequences. In order to earn moments of respite, he has to suffer.
I find it hilarious when people argue that Buggy doesn’t deserve to have good things happen to him. Because, yeah? Duh. Oda loves having his cake and eating it too. It’s not necessarily good to play both sides with the audience when it can cheapen emotional impact, but Oda will absolutely continue to make Buggy both a complete joke and a genuine character. He has fun that way. However, he’s not going to help Buggy without hurting him first.
But that's a very meta perspective. How does Buggy view his own beneficial coincidences? He’s now an emperor, and extremely close to the One Piece/Pirate King title that he so desperately wants. But why does he think he’s being rewarded, in-universe?
His facade.
His devoted followers, his influence, that billion-berry bounty, his emperor status -- all of it stems from his fake persona and its snowball effect. He’s well aware of this. In fact, I think it’s likely that he hates himself for being such a coward and hiding behind lies. But when he sees his true self as worthless, what else can he do except dig himself into a deeper hole?
Tumblr media
Look at 1082. Buggy finally stands up for himself, claiming that wealth and power come from chasing after your dreams -- not grand schemes. Here, he’s talking to himself as much as he’s talking to Crocodile and Mihawk.
“This is wrong… This isn’t how I wanted my life to go…”
It’s a very depressing peek at the man behind the curtain. Buggy only ever wanted to follow his dreams, but he uses schemes to get ahead instead, because they're all he thinks he has. His lies are a crutch to depend on, so he doesn't have to face the truth: he doesn't believe in himself.
To me, 1082 reads as a "Hail Mary" moment from a character at an emotional low. Buggy still doesn't believe in himself, but he is saying: Fuck it. If Shanks and I finally have an equal chance at becoming Pirate King, I at least have to try... Right? We can confirm his lack of self-confidence, because Buggy even admits he got here by “luck or chance or whatever."
Tumblr media
He cannot entertain the possibility that he'd get this far any other way. Of course he doesn't see himself as Shanks' equal. It’s one of many reasons he didn’t want to go with Shanks at Loguetown; he assumed he’d be working “under” Shanks (even though Shanks only said “Come with me!"), because he truly believes he is lesser in terms of potential/greatness. ("You coward!" can also be interpreted as Buggy projecting his own insecurities onto Shanks.) Buggy's decision in 1082 is a desperate leap of faith. "Go for broke," "shoot for the moon," etc.
Tumblr media
Post-Timeskip Buggy may appear more dangerous than ever before, but in reality, he’s just a small fish in a big pond. The farther he crawls his way up the ladder of success, the worse he feels, because the life he has built is not how he wanted to live at all. Based on everything we've known about Pre-Timeskip Buggy, we should expect him to be happier than ever. He has influence. Power. His monetary value in the eyes of the World Government has shot up exponentially. But look at the poor guy. He's miserable.
If you've ever seen Better Call Saul, I think this scene from S4E9 is very similar to how I feel about Buggy:
JIMMY: There you go! Kick a man when he’s down! KIM: Jimmy, you are always down.
Buggy is a character who is always down, even when you think he might be up. Until he stops maintaining that false image, he will always be punished by the narrative pendulum he's trapped himself in.
Unfortunately, change is hard, especially with the stakes he’s currently facing. If Buggy actually has to fight Blackbeard, Luffy, or Shanks... he can’t. Not alone. He needs people to believe the facade, because that's what got him here in the first place. He may look invincible, but he is quite possibly the most vulnerable character right now.
Crocodile and Mihawk would sell him to Satan for one corn chip (especially after that stunt he pulled in 1082). We haven't seen him improve his physical abilities (unless Oda pulls some off-screen bullshit). As an emperor, he has more people gunning for his head than ever before. Buggy’s last line of defense is his long-running gag -- if Oda decides to subvert our expectations, he’s a dead man walking.
And who would he have to blame but himself? He built his image on smoke and mirrors. Eventually, he's going to have to pay the price.
If Pre-Timeskip Buggy is a man defined by coincidence, then Post-Timeskip Buggy is defined by consequence.

A Husband and His (Ex) Best Friend
Tumblr media
Paring: Johnny x female reader, past Jaehyun x reader
Summary: With all the planning for your wedding coming up, everything feels like it is going right. Soon, you and Johnny will be happily married and all that is left to do is to wait. But what happens when Jaehyun shows up out of the blue?
Warnings: mentions of cheating, none others that I can think of but let me know
Word count (part one): a little under 6K
Thanks to @pastelsicheng for reading the first quarter of this a billion years ago. Other than that quarter this is not proofread so let me know about any errors!!
Tumblr media
“I like you and all, but I don’t know if I want you that close to me.”
“Where else am I supposed to sit if not next to you?”
“I don’t know. Not my problem.”
“Well, you better get used to me sitting close to you because I plan to stick around for a while.”
Johnny sighs, leaning back against the sofa. “Why do we have to do this again? Why can’t we just let them all fight for their seats?”
You laugh, turning your head dramatically to look at him. “Maybe because we decided this wedding was going to be ‘the fanciest wedding any of those suckers have ever been to.’”
“I don’t know who said that, but you really shouldn’t listen to whatever advice you hear. You can’t live your life so codependent all the time.”
You smack his arm, earning a side glare in response. “Okay, first of all, I’m not the one who bought all those cards and spent a good hour writing everyone’s name in a fancy font. Second, I was quoting you, and you know it. Don’t try and play dumb with me, Suh.”
“Wouldn’t dream of it, l/n.”
“Good.” You place your elbow on the table, resting your head on top of your hand as you pick the pen back up. “Now, where do you want Mark to sit?”
“At the kids’ table.”
“You’re useless,” you sigh, dropping your arm and turning your head to smile at him.
“Good thing I’m leaving to go get Yoonoh from the airport.”
“You jerk, you planned this, didn’t you? Because now I’m stuck here, trying to figure out where to put people so a fight doesn’t break out.”
He scoffs, pushing himself up. “Who is going to fight at our wedding?”
“You’re letting Mark bring Donghyuck. Intentional or not, I feel it in my bones that Hyuck will start a fight with someone.”
“Well, you have the bones of a seventy-year-old man, so excuse me for not trusting what your bones say,” he jokes, walking into the kitchen.
You laugh, leaning your head against your hand, staring at the paper with little drawn tables. “At least I’m not a six-foot giant.”
He laughs, opening the front door. “Love you.”
“Love you too.”
---
“Hey, y/n, I’m sorry to do this to you, but I have to drop Yoonoh off at the house and then run over to help Mark with something.”
“Oh, that’s okay.” You set the pen down, putting your phone on speaker so you could stretch back over the couch. “Did you get the guest room set up?”
“Ah, you see, about that...”
“Johnny,” you laugh, bringing your body forward. You can imagine the smile on his face. “You were supposed to do that this morning.”
“And I was, but then I got a bit… distracted.”
“Is ‘distracted’ when you ordered a Dairy Queen cake at nine in the morning to prove to Deven that you could eat half an eight-inch by yourself?”
“Mayhaps.”
You laugh, pushing yourself up. The look on your brother’s face as he watched Johnny eat the last slice of cake that would mark half and stammering about how he didn’t understand how someone so fit could eat that much is something you’ll remember for a long time. “Don’t worry about it. How far out are you?”
“If my calculations are correct, he should be knocking on the door any minute now.”
“You jerk! You couldn’t have given me more of a heads up?”
“Oh, you’re fine. Make him help you. He’s always one to help a damsel in distress.”
You shake your head, walking to the front door to wait for Yoonoh's knock. “Are you trying to send your fiancée into the arms of another man?”
He chuckles, the sound making you smile. Four years of dating, and you still feel a sense of pride when you make him laugh.
“Oh, you know I am. I can finally be free.”
You gasp, and before you can respond, you hear a knock at the door. “Looks like it’s your lucky day. He’s here.”
“Go get ‘em, tiger.”
You laugh, softly saying a ‘bye’ before hanging up.
You open the door, a wide smile spread across your face, ready to meet Johnny’s best friend from Korea.
However, when you process the person in front of you, your smile drops.
“Oh, um,” he stammers nervously, blinking at you. He doesn’t say anything more he just looks at you. Breaking eye contact, he says, "I must have the wrong apartment. Do you happen to know where John Suh lives?"
You take a deep breath, opening the door wider to invite him in. “No, this is the right place.”
He doesn’t immediately walk in, again choosing to stare at you.
You sigh, dropping your hand from the door. “Close the door when you come in—I’m going to go make the guest bed.”
Not wanting to be around him anymore you quickly walk to the bathroom. Trying to push him out of your mind, you focus on putting yourself on autopilot as you grab two towels before heading to the guest room. Setting the towels on the bedside table, you grab the sheets from the closet.
“I can do this, y/n. You don’t need to worry about it.”
When did he come in? I didn’t even hear the door.
Keeping your back to him, you continue spreading the sheets over the bed. “You’re my guest, Jaehyun. Of course, I have to do it.”
Jaehyun. You haven’t thought about him in a while, but of course, the universe has other plans than for you to get married easily. Only, instead of a freak accident happening to your wedding cake, it comes in the shape of Jung Jaehyun.
Or Jung Yoonoh.
You hear him roll his suitcase to the far end of the room, dropping his backpack next to it. Without saying anything more, he helps you straighten the sheets.
After what feels like forever making his bed, you heave a sigh of relief.
“I’ll be in my room.” You had planned on adding the comment: “if you need anything, feel free to ask,” but frankly, the offer doesn’t apply to people like him.
Not wanting to hear his response, you turn and quickly walk towards the door, hoping to leave without any more conversation.
“Y/n,” he calls, stopping you before you can leave. “What do you want me to do? Do you want me to leave? I’ll make something up to tell Johnny.”
You sigh, turning around to face him. “Yes, Jaehyun, I want you to leave. But you’re one of his best friends. And I don’t know what kind of sick joke this is, but I’m not going to let my feelings toward you ruin his relationship with you.”
You don’t know how well you’ll be able to follow through with that, but you’ll sure as hell try. It isn’t just your wedding, after all; Johnny is allowed to invite anyone he wants.
Even the man who broke your heart.
“Is that all you wanted to say? If so, I’m going to go take a shower.”
“Um yeah, go ahead. Just, I’m sorry to put you in this situation. I am.”
You turn around, nodding your head once before quickly rushing out the door.
Sitting on your bed, you feel your heart pound in your chest. Out of everyone Johnny could have befriended, he just had to go and pick my ex-boyfriend?
Falling back onto your bed, you sigh for what feels like the millionth time in the past twenty minutes.
You spent weeks crying over that man, hoping you’d never have to see him again. The embarrassment and pain of the situation caused you to hate not only him, but also yourself for months. Sure, you’re over him completely. By this time next weekend, you’ll be Mrs. y/n Suh. Nothing else could make you happier, but that didn’t mean seeing him doesn’t hurt; because it does— a lot.
Taking a deep breath, you push yourself up off the bed. Rushing out of the bedroom and into the bathroom, you stare at yourself in the mirror.
I can’t do this. I can’t lie to him. You prop your elbows on the counter, resting your head in your hands. I also can’t go and tell him his best friend is the “goose face of a man” I told him about.
The memory of Johnny calling Jaehyun a goose face after hearing about what he did to you stills the emotions bouncing around your head. It makes everything calmer. Nodding your head once at yourself in the mirror, you push yourself off the counter and go to turn on the water.
Johnny is worth it, you’ve decided; he’s worth the pain.
---
When you hear the front door open you feel a pang of fear. You have to look your fiancé in the eyes and pretend his best friend doesn’t make you uncomfortable. What a great way to spend the few days before my wedding.
“Yoonoh, what are you doing?” you hear Johnny ask as you open the bedroom door, quietly walking down the hall to the kitchen.
“Oh,” you hear Jaehyun reply. “I thought I’d make dinner for you guys since you’re letting me stay here. My mom’s famous japchae.”
You stand in the doorway, watching the two talk in front of the stove, backs to you.
Johnny snorts, leaning his elbow on the counter. “Your mom isn’t the best cook, no offense to her, so you definitely pulled that off the Internet. Don’t try me, Jung Yoonoh. And also, doesn’t that sauce have honey in it? Y/n’s allergic to honey.”
Jaehyun flicks his eyes over to you, finally seeing you standing in the doorway. “She saw me taking out all the ingredients and told me about the honey.”
You shift uncomfortably on your feet, looking away from the pair. You don’t know why Jaehyun remembers your allergy, but the reminder that he used to be one of the most important people in your life is unwelcome.
Pushing the unsettling feeling away, you put on a brave smile and walk over to your fiancé. “So, what did Mark want?”
He smiles down at you. “Oh, nothing. The weirdo broke the coffee machine and needed help fixing it before dad found out. I can only imagine the complaints he would make if he received a bill from the hotel about a broken coffee maker.”
You scrunch your nose, ignoring the feeling of Jaehyun’s eyes on you. “He doesn’t even like coffee. How did he break it?”
Johnny shrugs. “It’s Mark, can’t say I’m surprised.”
“Sorry to interrupt,” Jarhyun mumbles, motioning to the stove. “But the noodles are done.”
You look at the noodles, realizing that he needs you to move to get to the sink behind you.
“You know what,” you say, stepping out of the way. “I’m going to go grade some papers. You guys stay here and catch up. Tell me when dinner’s done?”
“Oh, okay, are you sure? He actually lived in Connecticut for a few years. You both could reminisce about the good old days.”
Johnny’s smile is dazzling, and your heart melts at the innocent intention behind his words. He always makes an effort to include you in his conversations, even if it is just little hints like this.
You fight a cringe at the statement as your eyes look over to Jaehyun. You catch his eyes as he sets the pot in the sink, holding a strainer full of hot glass noodles. For a second, you find yourself wanting to scream at him. Yell about how unfair it was for him to leave without saying anything to you after three years of being together, how unfair it was that his then-best-friend had to shyly tell you he had been cheating on you for the past few months with some girl at his work. Mostly, though, you want to yell about how unfair it is for him to put you in this situation. That if he had just been a decent person in the first place, he wouldn’t be making a liar out of you.
Instead, you break your eye contact and smile as un-forcefully as you can. “It may not be a very big state, but it’s still a state, dear. I’m sure Yoonoh and I never went to the same places or anything.”
“I don’t know. I feel like the universe would have a hard time keeping two beautiful people away from each other.”
You snort, rolling your eyes. “Whatever you say. But really, I do have papers to grade. So I’ll see you both at dinner. Thank you again, Yoonoh.”
“What? Oh, yeah, no problem,” he replies awkwardly. Breaking whatever trance he was in and pouring the noodles into a mixing bowl.
With a final salute to Johnny, you turn and walk back to your bedroom.
Once safely behind closed doors, you shut your eyes and take a deep breath.
This is going to be hard.
---
“So, y/n, I assume you’re a teacher?”
“Yeah, I teach fifth grade,” you respond, forcing yourself to briefly smile at him before returning your gaze to the plate below you.
It feels like you are losing by talking to him, especially telling him about something he knew was a dream.
The image of him picking you up after your shift at the daycare on Fridays before taking you to dinner at his house or a restaurant flashes through your mind, and you suppress a bitter chuckle.
“I don’t know how she does it,” Johnny comments, unaware of your inner battle. “I could never be a teacher. I have this vivid memory of my mom telling me to never be a teacher.”
You chuckle, bringing your eyes away from the food to look at him. “Probably because of that one time you yelled at Mark for not knowing the days of the week.”
“For one, I was like eight, and he was five. How was I supposed to know he could mix up the days of the week and not look stupid? Second, you need to stop having those lunches with my mom.” He turns to look at Jaehyun. “She used to have these lunches with my mom without me, and they would talk about me. Can you believe it?”
Jaehyun chuckles, eyes flicking to you before looking back to his best friend. The news doesn’t surprise him; his mom always loved you.
“Sorry man, sucks to be you.”
“You’re both useless,” he says dejectedly, dramatically stuffing some noodles into his mouth.
You shake your head, smiling at his childish actions.
“Oh hey,” Johnny starts, abandoning the previous topic. “You don’t have work tomorrow, right?”
“Seeing as it’s a weekend, you are correct.”
“Then would you mind taking Yoonoh around tomorrow? I bought tickets for us to go see the Statue of Liberty, but something came up at work.”
Frowning, you ignore the instinct that tells you to immediately disagree. “Are they overworking you? Do you need me to go in there and yell at some people?”
He tilts his head, smiling sweetly. “Not yet, but be ready when I call.”
Crossing your arms, you lean back in your chair, attempting to appear tough. “Don’t worry, babe. I got you.”
He scrunches his face as the word ‘babe’ leaves your mouth, chuckling. You smile at him, relaxing from your tough act to laugh with him.
“Am I missing something?” Jaehyun asks, smiling at Johnny.
“Oh, so for our first date, we went to a winery-“
“It took more than an hour to get there, by the way,” you interject, smiling as the story plays out in your head.
“Yeah, I had prepared different topics we could talk about in case we ran out of things to talk about. But anyway, we went on a winery tour, right? And this one couple-”
He cuts himself off, giggles erupting from the both of you.
He takes a deep breath, trying to suppress his laughter. “And this one couple was, like, fighting? They were walking behind us the entire time and would say stuff like: ‘babe, you don’t understand how hard it’s been cleaning the apartment all by myself’ or ‘babe, you never care about me and what I want to do.’”
“The response to which was: ‘if I didn’t care, I wouldn’t have bought you your favorite brand of peanut butter.’”
Johnny’s laugh rings through your ears, and you hear Jaehyun quietly laugh across from you.
“Oh my gosh, I forgot about that,” Johnny wheezes, turning to face Jaehyun. “After that, they were silent for about three minutes before the complaints about something else in their relationship started back up. Anyways, skip to when we’re doing the wine tasting, and it turns out, y/n here doesn’t drink.”
Jaehyun laughs, turning his attention to you. “Really? You went to a winery for your first date?”
You smile, too caught up in the story to realize who you are talking to. “He was so excited! I couldn’t say no.”
“I already bought the tickets, and I knew she was too nice to say no, so it was a full-proof plan for at least one date.”
“Okay, okay, enough of that. Get to the good part,” you say, waving your hand to tell Johnny to continue.
“Oh, right, so they’re handing out the wine, and y/n has to say: ‘oh no, I don’t drink.’ And the guy pouring the wine is confused because, you know, who would come to a winery tour if you don’t drink? Anyway, once he poured my glass and moved on, I’m like: ‘why didn’t you tell me you don’t drink? We didn’t have to come.’ And y/n, being the kind person she is, said it didn’t matter and that it was still a fun time. But of course, me not knowing this fact didn’t go unnoticed by the couple, and the girl turns to the guy and says: ‘Babe, I’m so glad you know me and what I like; I don’t know what I would do without you.’”
A loud laugh escapes your mouth, and you quickly cover your mouth in surprise. “You should’ve seen Johnny’s face. He felt so bad.”
“I thought I blew it with you! Of course, I was sad,” he laughs. “And all you did was laugh in my face.”
“I couldn’t help it!” you exclaim. “There you were, a six-foot man, looking sadly down at his wine because of a comment from the ‘babe couple.’ In my prior year of knowing you, I had never seen that look on your face.”
“But on the bright side, we didn’t have to worry about driving drunk.”
You hadn’t thought about that day or why you both use “babe” jokingly in a while. It had just been a thing you both laugh at with no explanation. It’s nice to relive your first date and the warm feeling you've felt for the man since.
“So, yeah,” you say, turning towards Jaehyun. You try to meet his eyes, but as soon as he meets yours, you find yourself looking anywhere but at him. “That’s why we only jokingly call each other ‘babe.’ It might not be as funny as we make it out to be, one of those you-had-to-be-there-moments.”
Jaehyun shakes his head, a small smile gracing his face. “No, I think it’s sweet. You have an inside joke with a fun story. It was nice to hear.”
You hate the sincerity in his voice, and when you look up, you see what you can only describe as love.
You know it isn’t love for you. Jaehyun has undoubtedly moved on; it’s love for his friend. That’s one thing you always admired about Jaehyun, how much he loves his friends.
You see that same quality in Johnny.
“You don’t have to take me,” Jaehyun says as you two walk toward the subway station.
“I told Johnny I would, so I am.”
Jaehyun nods his head, shifting his gaze away from you.
You were mad when Jaehyun left, and, unknown to you, that anger reappeared when you tried to have another relationship. Johnny helped you get over that anger. Now that he’s back, all that anger is coming back, and Johnny can’t help you. With Jaehyun sleeping in the room next to you, you have never felt so uncomfortable in your own home.
You had spent all night thinking about your situation. You love your fiancé—there is no doubt in your mind that he is the man you want to marry. Jaehyun just wasn’t supposed to come back, not when everything was going good.
“Where do I go to buy a ticket?” He asks, breaking you from your thoughts.
“Oh, I’ll swipe my card twice.” At the mention of a card you reach into your bag to grab your wallet.
Jaehyun laughs softly. “I just noticed. You’re carrying a purse now?”
You look down at the small purse hanging over your shoulder. “Yeah, I started doing it after I lost my card at the store. Johnny watched me stress for about ten minutes as I checked his car before the store gave me a call. After which, I made him drive me to the closest department store and bought this.”
He doesn’t respond, watching as you scan your card before moving out of the way for him to walk through first. You quickly scan your card again, immediately putting it back into your wallet as you walk through.
Like your allergy to honey, it bugs you that he remembers your unwillingness towards carrying a purse back in high school. Everyone around you, Jaehyun included, warned you that you would lose something one day. Now that you think of it, it had been one of Jaehyun’s favorite things to tease you about.
“You two make a good couple,” he says quietly, pulling you from your thoughts. “I’m glad you’re happy.”
You scoff at his words, seeing them as nothing but laughable. “Thanks, he’s an honest man.”
---
“We have five minutes before the ferry leaves. Do you want to stay here and look, or should we go wait at the doc?” You ask after having walked around the statue and answering all his questions.
“We can wait at the doc,” he responds, already turning to walk back. “If I’m being honest, I don’t get the excitement of tourist attractions.”
You nod your head in agreement, and as if to prove your point, a man accidentally bumps into you. “I worked here for a year, so the appeal is more than lost on me.”
“You worked here?”
You nod your head, standing on the tips of your toes to see if you can find a clear spot. Once you find one with fewer people, you lead him that way. “As you know, my mom is a German teacher, so I grew up speaking German. I took a job here as a tour guide. I met Johnny here.”
“Oh, really?”
“Yeah, some of his relatives were visiting from Korea before going to his parents in Chicago. So, of course, they came here, and I was leading one of the tours around. But this boy from the Korean tour before me got separated from his parents. I obviously don’t know Korean, and he didn’t know very much English. So in came Johnny, the best translator, and he helped calm the boy down until his family could come back. Then we met again on the island that has the museum. I was sitting on a bench waiting for my group to come back from the self-exploring time or whatever you want to call it, and he sat next to me and said: ‘long day, huh?’ Next thing you know, we find out we go to the same university.”
Jaehyun smiles, eyes darting behind you. “Is that the ferry that takes us to the museum?”
You turn around, seeing a ferry slowly pull into the doc. Simply nodding in response, you walk closer to where the ferry pulls in. The rest of the time waiting for the ferry is thankfully silent. Your time with him hasn’t been as horrible as you thought it would be, but on a list of the things you could be doing on your day off, talking with your ex does not even make the list.
After boarding the ferry and watching the water pass by with Jaehyun by your side, a strong sense of déjà vu hits you. Before dating, you and Jaehyun took an old steamboat on the Connecticut River. You had been sitting much like you are now, minus the awkward air between you two. Except at some point after he got back from getting you both some water, his leg rested against yours. The warmth from the simple action had made you so happy. It’s still the moment you think of when you picture the beginning of your relationship. It’s the day things between the two of you shifted from friends to something more.
Now, when his leg briefly touches yours, you quickly pull your leg away. Instead of bringing happiness, the warmth brings a sick feeling to your stomach.
“When are you leaving?”
You can feel Jaehyun looking at you, but you refuse to meet his eyes. “I leave four days after the wedding.”
You nod your head, not taking your eyes away from the water.
The rest of the ride is silent.
---
“Thank you for spending yesterday with him,” Johnny says, and you can hear the smile in his voice. “I really appreciate you doing that for me and taking my position as best friend tour guide.”
You nod your head, shifting into a more comfortable position on the couch, pulling his arm closer around you. You truly value these moments. Moments where he would let you snuggle close against him, his arm around your shoulder, holding you close.
You normally aren’t a very touchy person, but it was times like this when you feel so lonely that you want to feel loved. Johnny figured this out only five months after you started dating.
Every time, he never pushed you into saying something you weren’t ready to share. He just listened and said sweet things.
“You-you still want to get married, right?” You pause for a second, searching for the right words. “I know that might be a stupid question. I’ve been thinking lately, and I just- I don’t know.”
He doesn’t answer immediately, instead choosing to rub your arm comfortingly.
“I don’t know what happened, and like always, you don’t have to tell me anything you don’t want to. But that is the silliest question I’ve heard all week – no – in all my life. I’ve never met someone outside of my family who means more to me than you do. The day I proposed to you was the scariest day of my life. Logically, you were going to say yes. But I was so scared you would say no, and I would lose the person who has made my life the best it’s ever been.”
“Thank you, Johnny, that means a lot to me. I’m happy I haven’t chased you away yet.”
He gives you a gentle squeeze. “Believe me, if anyone is doing the chasing away around here, it’s Mark.”
“I don’t know. I think out of the two of you, he has more charm.”
He snorts. “Fair point. But back on topic, do you want to tell me what has you second-guessing things?”
“I’m not second-guessing anything on my part,” you clarify. The last thing you want him to believe is that you’re second-guessing your relationship. “I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about my past relationship, the one where I was cheated on. I didn’t feel what I feel for you with him, but there must have been a reason he cheated on me. I’m worried you’re going to find out what that thing is and then leave me.”
“Well, I can tell you right now that you don’t have to worry about that. Seeing as I’m not a goose face, I’m not about able to see the same things as a crazy person.”
“I don’t know; your face is kind of goose-like.”
“How dare you. You take that back right now, or I’ll make you.”
As hard as you try, you can’t ignore the guilt creeping into your stomach. Here you are, talking about Jaehyun to one of his best friends while he’s asleep in the other room. You weren’t even the one in the relationship who did something “bad,” so you don’t know what guilt you owe him.
Overpowering the guilt you feel towards Jaehyun is the guilt you feel towards Johnny.
“You deserve better than me,” you whisper.
“No, I deserve you.”
---
“I am going to kill someone.”
“Calm down it isn’t that bad.”
“Isn’t that bad?” you repeat, looking over at Johnny in a mix of shock and horror. “I don’t think I can ever come back here. That is how bad this is.”
“Am I missing something?” Jaehyun asks from his spot next to Johnny.
The three of you are currently standing in front of the ice cream section in your supermarket. Johnny had noticed you were stressed over some of the last-minute planning for the wedding and decided it was time you took a break.
“Oh, it’s nothing. Her favorite ice cream just isn’t here right now,” Johnny answers.
“And you don’t see how that is a big deal? You’re the one who said I needed to take a break, and now you’re saying the disappearance of the one thing that is necessary for an authentic break isn’t a big deal?”
“Okay, take a chill pill. They got your second favorite.”
“Where? I don’t see it. Are you stalling for time before I kick your shins?”
“No, I see it right here,” Jaehyun leans forward to tap the glass in front of the container.
As you watch him tap lightly on the glass, you freeze. Is he trying to make Johnny suspicious? What the hell is he thinking? Pointing out something he should have no idea about. I didn’t know he was this stupid.
“Dude, how’d you know?” Johnny asks, looking at Jaehyun with what you can only imagine is a confused-shocked expression.
“Oh, well, for one, it’s brownie batter. I mean, who doesn’t like brownie batter? And when you were in Korea, you saw the flavor and mentioned something about how this was your girlfriend’s second favorite flavor. After cookies and cream, right?”
“Huh,” Johnny opens the door to grab the ice cream. “I don’t remember that at all.”
You like to think you’re a different person than when you and he dated. But being reminded of these things makes you think differently. It feels as if you've been taken back all those years to high school when you depended too heavily on him and weren't as sure of yourself as you'd like to think you were at the time. It makes you feel small and helpless.
“You know what,” you say quietly, and you hope Johnny doesn’t notice the distant tone in your voice. “I think I’m going to try something new. I’ve always wanted to try cherry garcia ice cream, so why not now?”
“Oh, okay,” Johnny says, letting you take the ice cream from his hand and replace it with the new flavor.
You glance one more time at Jaehyun, hoping he can feel your unhappiness at his remembrance, before turning to walk to the checkout. You hear Jaehyun ask your fiancé something in Korean, and you tune out the rest of the conversation as you mindlessly follow the directions on the screen. As if planning a wedding isn’t stressful enough, now I have to deal with Jaehyun almost ruining our ... whatever this is.
As you leave the store, Johnny stops you by lightly grabbing your elbow. “Oh hey, can you guys walk back by yourselves? I have to go pick something up for my mom.”
You look up at him, tilting your head to the side. You don’t want to be left alone with Jaehyun. “Are you sure you don’t want to walk back with us and take the car? It’s a long walk to your parents’ hotel.”
He waves his hand dismissively. “My mom said she’ll pick me up. She’s out and about doing something and said she’d pick me up on her way home. But since she doesn’t know the city that well, she wanted me to get the thing, and she’d come pick me up. Sounds crazy, I know, but that’s how she works. Also, I know this is a really weird thing, but can I borrow your ring? I want to give it to my mom; so she can look at it closely—you know, with me buying it without her knowing my plans and all—and then you’ll never have to take it off again.”
“I don’t need to tell you to be careful, do I?” you ask, slowly twisting the ring off.
He chuckles. “No, of course not. I am the one who paid for it, after all.”
“Okay,” you lightly place the ring in his hand. “Do you know when you’ll be back?”
“Well, it’s 3:40 now, so maybe around 5? I’ll definitely be back for dinner. I was thinking we could go out. My treat?”
You nod your head, giving him a smile that doesn’t quite reach your eyes. Along with not wanting to be alone with his best friend, you feel like your fiancé has been gone a lot. You’re starting to miss him.
“Great,” he leans down, kissing the top of your head. “I’ll see you guys later for dinner, okay?”
Jaehyun nods his head, waving goodbye.
“You can’t do that,” you say as soon as you round the corner.
“Do what?”
“Talk about things you would only know from being in a relationship. You did it with the honey allergy, and now with the ice cream. And yeah, you came up with some good excuses, but how long until you can’t think of one? What then?”
“Look, I’m sorry. I wasn’t thinking.”
The sarcastic tone in his voice makes you stop in your tracks, grabbing his arm so he’ll face you.
“Excuse me? Who are you to talk to me like that?”
He sighs. “Okay, I know you’re being—I don’t know what the right word is—nice? You know what I mean. You’re being nice by letting me stay in your house. But do you have to talk to me like you’re all high and mighty?”
You laugh in shock, not believing what you just heard. “I don’t know where this is coming from, but I do not appreciate it. You know what you did, so you should consider yourself lucky you’re allowed in my house-”
“It isn’t just your house. Johnny wouldn’t let me sleep in a hotel when he has a-”
“You cheated on me!” you yell, interrupting him. Taking a deep breath, you look around to see if anyone is staring. “You cheated on me, and I told Johnny about it. And you know what? He agrees with me that you were a jerk and that I shouldn’t have to ever see you again. And I’ll be honest. I don’t know if he would want to see you again. But I do know he would be uncomfortable around you. Because guess what? He loves me. And he will take my side, and he will never hurt me like you did. So yes, I am being nice by letting you sleep in our house. Because one word from me, and you’re out.”
You didn’t know you had that in you. Judging by the look in his eyes, Jaehyun wasn’t expecting it either.
“I’m sorry—”
“Nope.

Thank you all for reading! Part two should be out sometime next week. Have a great day/night <3

Yesterday Afternoon-Evening, I watched the James Cameron Avatar 2 movie.
Spoiler free thoughts first:
It was fine.
I was expecting something trite but it was mostly fine.
It was WAY too long. Like, James, buddy, I know you’re one for “epic movies” but over THREE HOURS is just too much. There were times when I was checking my silenced phone to see what time it was so I could keep track of where we were in this movie.
Pacing was very stop-start.
I personally think this should have been a mini-series. Three episodes around an hour, or so, each and you’d have achieved much of the same effect. Or broke this into two films to be released back-to-back. Or, edited some of this monstrosity DOWN.
As we say in writing, kill your darlings, James.
The children characters were fine. I’ll touch more on them in the spoiler bit.
The fictionalized science was plausible but I do have a hole or two to poke into the plot/motivation of the bad guys I’ll save for the spoiler filled part.
It, of course, looked GORGEOUS. The music was also well done.
It was a well put together movie. I can see why it cost so damn much.
Rumor has it, it has to make 2 BILLION to break even.
idk that it will in this economy BUT it does have the fact that it’s mostly being shown in 3D to help bolster that number for the ticket sales and a lack of any sort of real competition.
I mean it’s Disney so I really DON’T care if it does.
So, Tl:Dr for this section—If you have the patience, this is a fine movie to see, and drop-dead gorgeous. Just don’t expect a masterpiece. This movie is a solid B+ (it earned a lot of extra credit from its visuals).
Spoilers ahead!
This movie really ran the gamut of rehashing movie one to Moby Dick IN SPACE.
Don’t get me wrong—when Pikon (Picon?) the lone space-killer-blue-whale showed up and kicked ass, it was pretty epic, but it was the most epic part of the movie and it took nearly three hours to get to that.
Of Jake and Ney’tiri’s four kids, only two really had any sort of personality: the second son Loaq and the adopted daughter Ki’ri (sp? Na’vi names are friggin’ weird). The youngest kid was just a kid. She really only acted as designated hostage most of the movie and she even complained about it when she got tied up, again.
The oldest brother was dutiful son and I was like 50% sure he was going to end up dying from the beginning.
Loaq reminded me the most of Jake—which was likely done on purpose with his writing.
Ki’ri—Grace’s biological child—was the most interesting character.
There is a way this is actually plausible. It’s a process called “parthenogenesis.” Parthenogenesis tends to happen in reptiles. Essentially, she is a clone of Grace’s avatar body.
It’s pretty damn obvious her other parent is Eyowa since she seems to be constantly surrounded by all sorts of critters and such and her whole glowing fish thing at the end of the movie.
The epilepsy thing sounds like it is going to either be a limit to what her body can handle or a side effect of being a clone offspring of Grace’s Avatar.
Loaq and his space-killer-blue-what friend were also an interesting part of the movie.
Of course where the film veers into Space Moby Dick is where I have a nitpick of the badguys.
In movie one, they wanted some rock with a stupid AF name “unobtainium.” In that case, it made sense they had to be there to get it because you can’t make more of a rock.
However, with them being after spermaceti-er I mean amoretia I have a bone or rather a brain to pick with them.
Instead of wasting money on a Aussi space Ahab, why don’t they use their seemingly miraculous cloning tech to just CLONE THE SPACE-KILLER-BLUE-WHALES. Or, better yet, JUST MAKE A BRAIN FROM TISSUE SAMPLES!
If we, in the current non-sci-fi tech level Earth are close to tissue cloning, then that lot capable of inter-stellar travel should be able to EASILY pull it off.
And if they can deal with Na’vi DNA to make human-alien hybrids, then they should be able to handle Space-Killer-Blue-Whales DNA.
Safer. Likely cheaper. Especially if it yields that anti-aging hormone.
Also, I didn’t think that in the year 2022 of our lord I’d be watching a movie with a SAVE THE WHALES message.
Second Bad-Guy nitpick—Why are they fucking around on a moon whose atmosphere is unbreathable to humankind and filled with forms of life HOSTILE to human when Mars is RIGHT next door, and doesn’t have angry native life forms (or any life at all).
Their tech means they’d have an easier time than we —at current tech levels— of Terraforming Mars and while humanity lives on Mars, they can also un-screw-up the Earth and also make cloud cities on equally unpopulated Venus and the unpopulated moons of Jupiter.
Likely, less time in transit, less time spent FIGHTING, and a better investment in the long run. These bad guys are just dumb and spiteful.
As for specific plot gripes: A good HOUR of this movie could have been removed since the kids who ended up kidnapped in the beginning (prompting Jake to move the family and lead to the movie 1 rehash section) end up kidnapped AGAIN at the climax with the addition of Water guy’s daughter.
As pretty as everything looked, a large part of this movie felt like padding.
Everything pre time-skip. Cut. Hell, everything pre-joining the Reef people. Cut it and use flash-backs to explain. Maybe in a nightmare sequence.
Do more montages for the adaptation to the Reef People way of life part and maybe show hints of Ney’tiri not adapting as well.
Just THREE FRIGGIN’ HOURS MAN. Too much!
I’d hate to see the extended cut.
Something that bothered me was, while Jake was lecturing his sons when he was scared to lose them he NEVER mentions his identical twin brother at all.
You know, the one whose semi-cloned body he’s walking around in, the one whose death led to him being on Pandora in the first place because they were Identical Twins? That twin? Not a mention.
Did James Cameron forget?
Maybe it bothered me because I’m a twin. It’s not something you forget.
We’re not even identical twins. We’re not even close.
My father had a twin sister.
I’m just saying. It was a plot point in Movie 1 and since Movie 2 was about family—largely—this seems like something Jake should have told his sons about.
Idk a “I’m rough on you because I had a brother and I lost him.” would have been nice.
Spider saving the hybrid clone of his bio-dad is a thing that may or may not bite everyone in the ass, but it shows that Spider is a good person. I do wish his character design didn’t have dreads, though.
As for Clone Quaritch and his blue-squad, I’ve actually read fanfictions that semi-predicted that so that was interesting to see.
If I was team bad-guy and I had access to DNA samples and shit from the old base, I’d clone JAKE and force him to fight himself. They had brain scans of Jake to synchronize him with the Avatar. They could sci-fi BS stuff and basically make a copy Jake.
I’m also going to call it now: Ki’ri is going to be some sort of chosen one. After all, she’s kind of Eyowa’s daughter.
Of course, this movie needs to NOT crater like a friggin’ pancake if the sequels are to happen at all.
So. Leaner plot. Less fluff. More action.

Message from the actor Keanu Reeves (translated back to English from Japanese version of his message, so the words are probably different but you get the sense of what he wants to say.) We are so caught up in the daily grind that we forget to look at the beauty in life. We live like zombies. Look up and take off your headphones. Say hello to someone whose eyes meet yours or give a hug to someone who looks like they are having a hard time. Help someone. Live each day as if it is the last day of your life. A few years ago I was depressed but never told anyone else so no one knew about this and I had to find my own way out of depression. The only thing that was preventing me from being happy was myself. Now, each day is precious, so live each day as a precious day. There is no guarantee that there will be a tomorrow, so live today! Most people know me, but they do not know about my life. When I was three years old, I watched my father leave home. I went to four different schools for high school, but struggled more than most others because of my dyslexia, making it more difficult for me to get an education. When I was 23, my closest friend, River Phoenix, died of a drug overdose. In 1998 I met Jennifer Sime and we fell in love with each other at first sight. In 1999, Jennifer became pregnant with a girl. Sadly, however, eight months later our child was stillborn. Her death left us both too terribly discouraged and this ultimately ended our relationship. Eighteen months later, Jennifer died in a car accident. After that, I began to avoid serious relationships and having children. My sister had leukemia, but she is cured now. I donated 70% of my earnings from the Matrix series of films to a hospital that treats leukemia patients. I am probably the only Hollywood star who does not live in a mansion. I don't have a bodyguard and I don't wear expensive clothes. I am a star worth $100 million (¥10 billion), and I still ride the subway, and I love it! In the end, I think we can all agree that great people can live powerfully in the midst of any dire situation. Whatever is happening in your life, you can get through it! Life is worth living. You are who you are today because of all that you have struggled through in your life. Times of hardship only make you stronger, so be thankful for those times. My friend's mother has eaten healthy throughout her life. She never consumed alcohol or "bad" foods, exercised daily, was very flexible, very active, took all the supplements her doctor recommended, always wore sunscreen when in the sun, and spent as little time in the sun as possible. I was very active. In short, she took her health as far as anyone could think of. But now, at age 76, she has cancer, bone marrow cancer, and very serious osteoporosis. On the other hand, my friend's father ate tons of bacon, butter, and fat, never really exercised, tanned himself until he was bright red every summer, and lived life to the fullest without listening to anyone else's instructions. He is 81 years old and, according to his doctor, his health is at the level of a young man. You can never completely escape poison. Poison is everywhere and will not miss you. The mother of a friend of mine who is still alive said, "If my life was going to end like this, I would have done all the things I was told not to do and chosen to enjoy life more!” No one is alive when they leave this world, so please stop treating yourself with too much seriousness. Eat good food. Walk in the sun. Dive into the ocean. The truth is that you carry your heart like a hidden treasure. Do silly things. Live gently. There is no time in life for anything else. I was raised to show respect. I was taught to knock before I opened the door. When you enter a room. Greet them. Please and thank you. please and thank you. I was taught to be respectful to those who were older than me. If I am sitting in a seat and someone else needs a seat, I will give it up. If someone needs help, I don't just stand there and watch, I offer my hand. Hold the door for someone coming in behind you and say "Excuse me" when necessary. I love people not because of what I can get out of them, but because of who they are. Most importantly, you were raised to treat others the way you would want to be treated by others. That is respect. If you were raised the same way, please share this with us! It doesn't matter how big your house is, how nice your car looks, or how much money you have in your bank account. Our graves are all the same. Let us continue to live humbly.

TOY STORY 5, ZOOTOPIA 2, and FROZEN 3 Oh My!
Tumblr media
So that's where we're at, huh?
Disney recently did an earnings call, where these surprise sequels are usually first announced. That's where, in 2014, we first heard of TOY STORY 4, CARS 3, and INCREDIBLES 2 all happening at Pixar... And in 2015, when they announced that FROZEN II was a thing happening at Walt Disney Animation Studios... Not-sequel animated features, they save for elsewhere: D23, announcements in the trades, etc.
Time for some unorganized thoughts!
TOY STORY 5...
Well, that's a real bomb drop right there...
Even though TOY STORY 4, at least to those who liked the film like I did, was arguably a firm conclusion to the story... Maybe it's a firm conclusion to Woody's story, much like how TOY STORY 3 was to the toys' lives in Andy's room... Maybe TOY STORY 5, following Buzz Lightyear and the Bonnie's room gang, will be about the end of *their* story? It feels kind of wrong to me... Especially since Don Rickles has not been with us since 2017. Mr. Potato Head's few lines in TOY STORY 4 were a pieced-together zombie performance from lines recorded for the first three movies... Either that, or they just follow Woody and Bo Peep as vagabond lost toys... Also, Estelle Harris, the voice of Mrs. Potato Head, is not with us. But, like... Honestly, how much longer can you stretch this? I would've preferred if LIGHTYEAR had done well and had gotten a small series of spacebound adventure movies. To me, that was the best way to continue this franchise without having to make another TOY STORY movie proper... But you can't have everything I suppose, haha. I'm surprised this is their next big sequel announcement, and not something like... Say... LUCA 2 or whatever. (Hey, it is a possibility.) Heck, at this point, A BUG'S LIFE 2 wouldn't be too farfetched. Pixar made sequels to movies where some of the cast had passed away (CARS with Paul Newman and George Carlin, TOY STORY 3 happened after Jim Varney's passing), so... they could possibly make that movie if they wanted to.
These announcements are usually vague anyways, so who knows... Maybe it's just 90 minutes of Ducky & Bunny. That would be funny. Key and Peele spearheading a wacky TOY STORY spin-off where they just kabitz and goof around, I mean... What else could they possibly spin off? They won't be doing a WOODY'S ROUNDUP-style Western, for sure. LIGHTYEAR lost money and proved to be divisive. So much to think about, so much to ask... Who is even directing/writing? Lee Unkrich retired, Pete Docter is CCO of Pixar and is likely too busy to direct this (he was already working on SOUL before he was named CCO, and that's likely the last film he'll direct), Josh Cooley isn't at Pixar either. Andrew Stanton is off trying to get live-action movies off the ground, but I assume he'll at least contribute to the story/script, ditto Docter... It's all so weird.
Capitalism, ya know? If characters are beloved and your latest sequel makes over a billion at the worldwide box office, you bet 'yer behind it's getting another installment. The wheels keep turning. STAR WARS went on without George Lucas, etc. Maybe a reinvention is in order? Whose to say we can't follow *other* toys that are alive in this setting? I haven't seen LOST OLLIE yet, but it shows there are other ways to tell the "toys come to life" kind of story in a post-TOY STORY age. TOY STORY 5 doesn't have to be about Woody or Buzz or anyone we've met in the series on screen over the past 28 years. What about the humans themselves? What's Andy up to as a college student? Where did Al McWhiggin pursue after he got his comeuppance at the end of TOY STORY 2? (There was a sketch made during the making of TOY STORY 3 indicating that the toys at one point would've visited Al's Toy Barn, now known as Hal's Toy Barn. Under new management.)
TOY STORY 5 would mark the second-ever American animated movie series to reach five mainline *theatrical* movies, not counting spin-offs. (DESPICABLE ME is at five, soon to be six. SHREK is at six because of the two PUSS IN BOOTS movies.) The first ever was ICE AGE, whose fifth installment, COLLISION COURSE, came out and made enough money in 2016. I think Disney, since they shuttered Blue Sky, will just keep that franchise going as a Disney+ thing. After all, that BUCK WILD movie exists. Back to the fifth mainline movies... SHREK will be next, whenever SHREK PLEADS THE FIFTH bows...
On the Walt Disney Animation Studios front, FROZEN III was always a given. What it could be about, I don't know. Anna and Elsa, similarly, went their separate ways at the end of the sequel... Though travel is a thing, so... Again, I don't know what to add. I quite enjoyed FROZEN II and felt it was an improvement over the original, so yeah... FROZEN III, do whatever. Makes coin, helps fund original movies, it's all good and... Ahem, cool. When does it come out, anyways? Next year after WISH? FROZEN II will turn five that season. WDAS is doing one a year every Thanksgiving from here on out, so it could be one of the 2025 or 2026 releases, too. One of those "Untitled Disney" placeholders for live-action/CGI tech demo movies could go to a WDAS as well, if they want to get a sequel and an original out in a calendar year.
ZOOTOPIA 2 was a given as well, even if it has been a while since the original bowed in the late winter of 2016. I love the detailed and carefully-crafted world that Byron Howard, Rich Moore and the film crew created. ZOOTOPIA was an on-the-move 48 hours adventure, so we didn't get to see all of that big metropolis. ZOOTOPIA+, the Disney+ midquel series, showed us a little bit more, which was nice... But now a whole other movie? NOICE! I wonder if it'll work in elements from scrapped earlier versions of the movie... When it was known as SAVAGE SEAS/SAVAGE CITY, and was more of a James Bond-inspired movie. I think that's the logical next step, honestly, for Nick and Judy. From cops to spies. Especially in a day and age of us being more informed and aware of what the real-life police have done. That 1st movie is in some hot water now. Without getting too political, I'll leave this at "I'm curious to see what they'll do"...
That could also be a 2025/2026 release... Some 9-10 years after the first movie came out. Who directs? Does Byron Howard return, now that ENCANTO is done and out of the way? Co-director Jared Bush confirmed on twitter that he's still involved. Was it given to someone else?
For anyone not in the know on how animation works, the question would be "why'd they wait 10 years to make ZOOTOPIA 2?"... Animation takes a long time, originals and these sequels have to co-exist, but time is time... and maybe WDAS should consider upping that recently-opened Vancouver studio (who are currently at work on the MOANA Disney+ series) to feature-making status? Much like how the Orlando unit in the '90s and early '00s started doing whole features with MULAN and went on to make LILO & STITCH and BROTHER BEAR before their unfortunate shutdown? Again, Disney locked a bunch of placeholder dates for different movies... Whose to say WDAS can't up the load and release two movies in, say, 2025 or 2026? Why not two in the year Pixar does only one new movie?
So yes, this is all so very, very wild... In addition to the company marking WDAS and Pixar releases dates from 2024-2026 weeks ago, we now know that... TOY STORY 5, FROZEN III, and ZOOTOPIA 2 are all happening. I have *several* questions about TOY STORY 5, I look forward to seeing what Anna and Elsa are up to next time around, and I'm totally game for ZOO2PIA...

Flipping happens when you acquire residential property for quick sale to earn money in a very not much time. Property investment loans as so very popular, because they look after a couple of things mainly, which a couple of things are going to provide the financing had to find the property itself. I started in tangible estate right after college in 2002 but I failed to buy my first rental until 2010. I had good timing buying soon after the housing crash, but I am still buying today a decade later in a very much different market but still thriving. Real Estate Mutual Funds: There is just one real-estate fund in India. There will not be much demand if there will be to few students or if there are indicators in cities, like Bradford, when a large proportion of students often live in your house (Unipol). In 2019, a block worth $3million that have previously housed local landmark Chaopraya Thai Restaurant about the corner of Gold Coast Highway and Frederick St also became a where you can squatters and vagrants, increasing petty crime in the area and leaving the abandoned property covered in graffiti and strewn with rubbish. Also remember that it's a good investment property not your dream home you are buying so avoid bidding wars which drive prices up.
A great location will attract a better degree of people looing to rent or lease as well as you can keep them within the property for a longer stretch of time. For making great decisions for the benefits must collect all possible info on your best strata property. Q4 2020 saw a pick-up in investment turnover in Ireland’s property market, with EUR1.3 billion committed to income producing real estate property assets across 44 separate transactions. Intu, a British Real Estate Investment Trust which focussed on shopping centre management and development has faced troubles in terms of profitability from the centres. If an investor can obtain attractive financing to secure a rental property that produces positive cash-flow in a appreciating market - if the investor will to take for the responsibility of managing the house (or having a property management company) - then accommodation investing can be a viable property investment strategy. “They are displaying much less properties that take over a 3 week period to rent out. But it won't sell about the open market of course, if rented out, the rent won't cover the mortgage. Do not discover property investment opportunities queensland that the seller will likely be insulted with a low offer or they won't even think about low offer. Most of that is due to the affordable prices of property there generally speaking. I kind of just sit there and go, we got done from money. Now, you’ll must know if the potential returns are feasible. Sometimes no improvements are produced. If only minor modifications are outstanding, this indicates that substantially all in the activities are complete. Where the alternative healthcare is followed, capitalisation should commence when expenditures are incurred, borrowing costs are now being incurred and activities that are necessary to prepare the asset because of its intended use or sale come in progress (can sometimes include some activities before commencement of physical production). Where construction is done in phases, which may be used while construction with the other areas continues, capitalisation of attributable borrowing costs should cease when substantially all with the activities essential to prepare that part because of its intended use or sale are complete. While including they ought to have well managed experts who value time which is the first thing because they needs to be present during the time of tenants need them in order to cause them to become happy and satisfied. Kalpataru Crescendo Pre Launch is sure to present fantastic possibilities to website visitors to obtain on the list of extremely luxurious in addition to vibrant residential cases together with section of India. Surrounded by rich greenery along with replete with ideal in training facilities along with facilities, the location offers a calm as well as contemporary way of life. Many people began to realise this now greater than ever and still have thought we would take their cash in property investment inside the about becoming rich. california recently passed a law, going into effect this april, that the minimum wage for fast food workers (at chains with 60 or more locations nationwide) is going up to $20/hr. meanwhile the overall minimum wage in the state is $16 as of january 1. a guy at my work was complaining about it because "mcdonalds just announced they're raising their prices in one state — guess where? california"
that guy is an idiot.
firstly, mcdonalds prices have been going up constantly since the start of the pandemic (also also, since the beginning of time because that's how inflation works). you're not complaining about any of the other price hikes you've seen, just that one that's supposedly happening because their workers are getting something closer to (but still not actually) a living wage in the state with one of the highest costs of living in the country?
the implication that mcdonalds doing this is a natural and necessary market response to the raise in labor costs is horseshit. mcdonalds, like virtually all fast food restaurants in the modern era, operates on the franchise model, which means they license their name out to local owners (franchisees), and the franchisees incur basically all the financial risk while sending a big chunk of their earnings to corporate hq. somewhere between 82% and 93% of all mcdonalds restaurants are franchised (and the company's stated goal is for that number to 95%), meaning that even being generous with which statistic we use, at most 18% of their stores are actually owned and operated by the company itself. with 1224 locations in california (and 13530 locations this means that mcdonalds' own actual labor costs are going up at, maximum, 220 stores, and possibly as few as 86. all big macs across the state have to go up so one of the biggest companies in the world, whose profit is measured by the billion, can afford to stay afloat because they had to give a tiny fraction of their workers a $4 raise? bull fucking shit. the price hike is a political stunt designed to piss off people with no critical thinking skills like the guy at my work in order to get them to fight against their own interests. because at the end of the day,
any wage worker who opposes anyone's wage increase is a fool
the fast food wage hike takes away nothing from anyone who doesn't work in fast food. instead, it puts upward pressure on all wages. places like target, whose starting pay is typically a little bit above minimum wage, and who never used to have to worry about losing their labor force to burger king, are going to have to raise their wages to keep their staff from leaving for higher pay in fast food. even at my entry level office job, where i make more than minimum wage but certainly less than $20 an hour, when our next union contract negotiation begins, you better believe the first words across that bargaining table are going to be "don't you think our work is at least as skilled and valuable as frying chicken mcnuggets?"
the cost of living in california is outrageous. even $20 isn't really a living wage. i'm pushing 40 and almost everyone i know who's around my age lives with their families or with half a dozen roommates or is on public assistance or works multiple jobs or a lot of overtime or is on the brink of homelessness or is homeless or some combination of the above. people who work fast food are human beings who need to put food on their tables and roofs over their heads and clothes on their children's backs just like everyone else. their windfall is not your downfall
workers' enemy is not other workers — our enemy is the bosses who make billions off our sweat and blood and keep us in poverty. never forget that

Understanding Affiliate Marketing on YouTube
YouTube affiliate marketing involves promoting products or services through your YouTube channel and earning a commission for every sale or action generated through your affiliate links. It’s a win-win for creators and advertisers, as it allows you to monetize your content while providing valuable exposure to brands.
The Power of Video Content
Video content is incredibly engaging and shareable, making it the perfect medium for affiliate marketing. Visual demonstrations, reviews, and tutorials can convince your viewers to make a purchase, boosting your affiliate revenue.
Choosing the Right Niche
Selecting the right niche is like finding the perfect fishing spot. It’s crucial for your YouTube affiliate marketing success. Choose a niche that genuinely interests you, as your passion will shine through in your content. Additionally, consider the niche’s profitability and competition. Balancing your passion with market demand is key. Once you’ve identified your niche, stick with it and build your brand around it.
Setting Up Your YouTube Channel
Creating a compelling channel with an eye-catching profile picture and banner is your first step. Ensure your About section is informative and appealing, and organize your content into playlists. Consistency in branding and content style is key.
Optimizing Video Titles and Thumbnails
Your video titles and thumbnails are the first things viewers see. Craft attention-grabbing titles, and design thumbnails that pique curiosity. An enticing title and thumbnail combo can significantly increase click-through rates.
Creating High-Quality Content
The foundation of any successful YouTube channel is high-quality content. Without it, all other strategies fall flat. Your content should be engaging, informative, and valuable to your viewers. Invest in a good camera, microphone, and video editing software. Remember, the first impression is everything. When viewers land on your video, it’s essential to hook them from the start. Use a catchy intro, keep your videos well-structured, and pay attention to audio and video quality.
Leveraging SEO for YouTube
YouTube is the second-largest search engine globally, so understanding YouTube SEO is vital. Use relevant keywords in video titles, descriptions, and tags. Optimize your video for searchability to reach a broader audience.
Building a Strong Online Presence
Your online presence extends beyond YouTube. Utilize social media, a website, or a blog to connect with your audience outside of your videos. A strong online presence can boost your credibility and influence.

Building a community around your channel is essential. Respond to comments, ask for feedback, and encourage your viewers to subscribe and hit the notification bell. Interaction boosts engagement, and engaged viewers are more likely to check out your affiliate products.
Collaborate with Other YouTubers
Collaborations are a powerful way to expand your reach. Partner with other YouTubers in your niche and create content together. This introduces your channel to a new audience and can increase your subscriber count. Moreover, it can provide fresh insights and perspectives for your audience.
Monetizing with Affiliate Links
Integrate affiliate links naturally into your content. Explain why you recommend a product and how it benefits your audience. Authenticity is key, as viewers can tell when you’re genuinely enthusiastic about a product.
Analyze and Adjust Your Strategy
The digital landscape is constantly evolving. Regularly assess your YouTube affiliate marketing strategy. Analyze your video performance, audience engagement, and conversion rates. Adjust your approach based on what’s working and what isn’t. Flexibility is key in the ever-changing world of affiliate marketing.
Leveraging Social Media
Promote your videos and affiliate links on social media platforms. Use eye-catching visuals and persuasive captions to drive traffic back to your YouTube channel.

So our government can send billions of dollars to Ukraine and allow millions of illegal aliens in the country, put them up in hotels, give them food, cell phones and financial assistance but if you are an American suffering homelessness or financial hardship you are less than a second class human being. It’s nice to know that our government officials can out and out lie to you and use deception to hide their identity to arrest and shoot you in your wheelchair. Then they announce who they are after you are laying on the ground bleeding and paralyzed. If they had announced they were police, this shooting would not have happened. With all the robberies and carjackings and other crime so prevalent in this country what would you expect this man to do to try to protect his family? Ask yourself, What would You do? And now “The government made that task more difficult by garnishing his mom's social security disability checks for nonpayment of camping tickets, which they incurred due to living in an RV, she said in a press release”. This is money that she has earned and paid taxes on! What are the Roberts do do now? America, the once great country! Illegal aliens and Ukraine first!!! Apparently!!! “For the people, by the People” is now “For the illegals by the Government and fuck you Legal and Loyal Americans”!!! Especially if you are homeless or suffering financial hardship. I highly doubt this family chose this lifestyle and were doing the best they could especially with two of them disabled. How much money and resources were wasted on this sting operation against these homeless disabled Americans? They had court appointed lawyers and a social worker, so the government knew of their hardship and some level! Just not illegal alien level! Only when these terrorists crossing the open border commit a horrific acts against America and Americans will something start be done and then it will be too late. There are too many of them, in unknown locations with unknown backgrounds!!! Are they criminals, convicts, military or just out and out trained sponsored terrorists? Why are so many adult males crossing? Where are their families? Where are the women and children? Why after traveling hundreds of miles, they appear with clean clothes and cell phones that got miraculously charged in the jungle? It certainly seems to be a trojan horse assisted by our government and/or the WEF!!! You will have nothing and like it, if we don’t shoot and kill you first! What happened to this once great country? Answer: Corrupt politicians and woke policies and foreign interference!!! This makes me wonder what the REAL story is behind the Ukraine war! Is the guy knocking on your door really a cable guy or solar panel salesman or someone legitimately needing help? I’m not opening my door to find out!!! If I didn’t call you, get off of my property!!! That’s a sad state of affairs for America!!! Trust no one especially the government!!! I hope the Roberts suit wins them millions of dollars but it will never give them back the ability to live like they should have without the pain and suffering this has brought to them. However, there will no government accountability as has been shown by the grievous actions of the government recently! Afgan pullout, border crisis, rampant crime etc.!!!

My Experience With LinkedIn
LinkedIn, this is one that is completely new to me, honestly speaking. Yes, I have heard of the platform for a number of years now but never actually gave it a chance. So, here we are in 2023, I created my first LinkedIn account as part of my Digital Marketing course to explore and understand the importance of this particular social platform.
History
LinkedIn was founded by venture capitalist Reid Hoffman in 2002. You wouldn’t believe it but he actually created it in his living room. Other important people who also contributed to the creation are product designer Allen Blue, marketing professional Konstantin Guericke, engineer Eric Ly, and engineer Jean-Luc Vaillant. The website officially launched in 2003. As years went by more people became engaged with the website, comparing 2007 where the website had over 15 million active users to 2016 over 500 million active users in about 200 countries. Another important moment to note is due to its huge profit gain that earned over $353 million dollars, Microsoft stepped within the same year of 2016 and acquired it for $26 billion dollars.
The Homepage
Tumblr media
When I first saw the homepage as shown above, it reminded me of Facebook for some reason. It seemed like another interactive social platform from its visual appeal, however, diving into it, it’s different and unique in its own way. At the centre you will see the home feed. This is where you will see multiple posts made by LinkedIn, people you follow and hashtags that you follow as well appear in the centre column. To the top you will see the navigation bar, also known as quick links that consists of:
Home: If you are on any of the other tabs and want to get back to your homepage, you can click Home and it will redirect you right back to your homepage.

Your Profile
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, here is where it gets interesting. On many social platforms, your profile would be used to share any sort of personal experience you had like attending an event, posting some forms of entertainment and socializing with peers but with LinkedIn, that’s not really the case. Your profile feels more like a personal resume that you are putting on display, better way to put it, advertising and branding yourself for future clients or employers. Just to share something a bit personal, at first I will say that I was a bit hesitant to upload my personal academic and work experiences because I felt as though my portfolio isn’t strong enough to be displayed, compared to some of the others that I have viewed, however, this is the start for me and my journey throughout may lead me to a life changing opportunity that I wouldn’t believe could happen.
The Business Side of LinkedIn
As previously mentioned, this platform is strictly related for persons who are seeking to find employment, if there are any jobs you would like to advertise and for businesses to widen their audience to experience a level of growth. One business/brand that has shown to have grown since joining the platform is Coca-Cola. With over 7 million followers, they tend to showcase a lot of advertisements on their homepage and many partnerships that the company has made, with addition to events held at many locations. As Co-Managing Editor Jay Moye states, “LinkedIn is a huge traffic driver for us.” “It’s a professional audience. It’s professional social network versus more of a social network. We see great clickthrough rates on story links that we publish on LinkedIn. The percentage of clickthrough is markedly higher than it is on Facebook, and to a degree, Twitter.” Mr. Jay Moye also emphasized that, ”you’ll see more consumer-focused content go up on our Facebook page, whereas you’ll see more business innovation, jobs, workplace stuff go up on LinkedIn.”
Final Thoughts
So, in my first hands-on experience with LinkedIn, I must say that the platform is truly important if you want to see yourself grow within the workforce. There are still a few things I need to expand my knowledge on but for the most part, I can see myself becoming more indulgent with the platform to grow my network within my field of Graphic Designing.

CAN A BUSINESS WORTH CRORES START WITHOUT MONEY? – 2
In the previous post we talked about some people who had no money, no employees when they started but now they are among the top most millionaires in the world. Let us continue to take a few more examples of such businessmen.
Have you heard the name of the BYJU’S app? This app was started in 2015, today it is close to 5-6 trillion. Started from Bangalore, this app has spread to many countries today. It is one of the top five startups in India. It takes a lot of hard work time to become a billionaire by traditional business. If we talk about Mukesh Ambani, it took 60-70 years for him and his father to become a millionaire.
But there are so many digital businesses like BYJU’S App which are becoming a billionaire only in 6-7 years, not in 60-70 years. If you take the advantage of internet, without much money, without much effort, your company can be brought to the news very quickly. Did BYJU’S have enough money when it started? Were there too many employees? Both of his parents were teachers and even Byju was an employed person.
He was not even fond of teaching or studying. His interest was in sports. BYJU loved playing. He never tried to do business. Everyone was in service in his family and he did the same. He had no money. BYJU became a teacher as soon as he taught his friends free lessons, soon he opened his institute, earned more money by teaching, and with this money he took more steps. He earned more money from it. And when the money came, tell me what else he did? He made more money from that money.
He bought a gaming app worth 35 billion rupees a few months ago to take his business further. So now BYJU puts billions in his business. And he is confident that he will do it and he does. So what have we learned? BYJU did not invest money at first, he kept earning and spending money and now he spends billions so easily as if it is nothing for him.
If you see closely, you would notice that all big business started from a garage.
If you do not have money, then it’s good because then only you will hurry, you will try hard and try to win in some way. On the contrary, if you have a lot of money, you will reduce hard work, you will try to achieve success with money and not with your mind. So it is better to have no money. People ask whether business worth crores of rupees be started without money? Yes, this is what is happening all around you. There are many examples around us! At home and abroad.
Not just business, even if you want the whole country, you can make it rich despite being in bad shape and bad condition!
The England whose sun never sunk, the same England was beaten so much in the second world war that there was no money to run the country, there was no money to fix the bombed buildings and they had even lost their courage to run that countries they ruled!
And not only England, many countries like Japan, Poland, France, Germany had very bad condition. In the second world war, about 5 to 8 crore people were killed. That means every country lost millions and millions.
Do you believe this is right? And now how are these countries? These are developed countries, rich countries! They earn & they use money! And they go on becoming richer & richer. I understand running a country is similar to running a business.
And by the way, you would also know that these political parties do not do any social work, they also run the business. They have also become billionaires today by following this principle. There was no money in the pocket! They kept making money & investing it. Let’s leave politics, let’s go back to business!
So, we were talking about taking the steps slowly. Taking steps slowly is not wrong. Yes, it is wrong not to take steps! Walt Disney used to say … the way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing! Enough of talks! Get up and start a business… and take care… no business is small and no religion bigger than business!
If you want to grow your business or want to become a good confident speaker then you can join our “courses“. Our “benchmark your business” workshop which is for business owners whose annual turnover is more than 50L and less than 2.5 crores. You can also join our business coursewhere you would be among businessmen and you would learn a lot more.

No One Knows Us Here
By Rebecca Kelley
Why didn’t she just leave?
This question flitters into your mind, more than once through this book. When we first meet Rosemary, she had done just that. She’d gotten away from her abusive step father, even if her living situation was less than ideal. Hoping to enter into law school, she finds herself living in her ex-boyfriend’s closet, in an apartment with four other people.
One thing she hadn’t thought much about in leaving her old life behind was how her younger sister would fare. To her, as long as she left, everything would work out fine. When Wendy shows up at her apartment, begging to live with Rosemary, she knows that something drastic will have to change for her to be able to take care of her sister.
When one of Rosemary’s roommates move out, she leaves her a contact list, and a way to make money to support herself and her sister. On her one attempt at meeting a client, Rosemary panics and bolts. So she isn’t expecting someone else to seek her out, this time offering to pay her rent and monthly to act as his girlfriend.
The offer is more than she’d ever dreamed of, and she accepts. What she doesn’t count on is meeting her next door neighbor Sam, and forming an instant soul deep connection with him.
Here I asked myself, “why doesn’t she leave? Forget the money, and live happily ever after with Sam?” I still can’t understand fully her reasoning, but it would be hard to turn down the opportunity to take care of her sister, to stop feeling the guilt from leaving her behind.
While Leo is definitely odd, he exists on the edge where nothing he asks seems dangerous. Something about him always seems off, and keeps Rosemary on edge. Adding to this are the Glasseyes, and the Looking Glass account she’s been required to open, Leo’s social media platform that earned him billions. For anyone with an account, they can get followers, who are able to see them anywhere there’s a Glasseye installed.
Now this, for me, sounds like a nightmare. The constant feeling and awareness of being watched. Who wouldn’t be uneasy after that? While I questioned Rosemary at times and quickly found myself thinking this might be a book I didn’t finish, I soon found myself hooked and compelled to keep reading. An interesting look at the different ways psychological manipulation can happen. I’d highly recommend to anyone who’s thought of giving this book a try.
