Angstyastro did a Thane tiddy joke and made me immediately think of this meme so here it is ><
I enjoyed making this nonsense and coming up with an icon for Jack (because we all know it would be her being a jerk) was interesting. I think she'd be one of those people who makes a parody pic of the basic start-up icon.
check out the inspiration for this here

gotta love it when you look up a half remembered fact on Wikipedia only to wind up following linked pages for semi-related topics and before you know it two hours have passed in the rabbit hole and you have amassed a handful of Wikipedia pages and dozens of linked sources all neatly clipped and saved to Evernote. you resurface from the rabbit hole having made new notes to a five year old wip and also notes for two new story ideas

So I just recently finished watching the Yorknew arc in Hunter x Hunter, and wow, do I have a lot to say.
For one, it was so amazing to see Kurapika take the spotlight this season. He (alongside of Leorio), was my favorite character upon introduction, so to have a season dedicated to him was blast.
It's cool seeing how much he changed since we last saw him, as he is now someone a bit more bitter, with much more determination than before. Seeing him driven by his need for revenge was interesting, and definitely showed a different side to him. Even then, the way he interacts with the gang is still so wholesome.
I really liked the bodyguard crew as well. They were all so sweet to each other and I just loved it. Melody was a gift, and whenever I saw her interacting with Kurapika, it felt as though my heart would burst. Also, Squalla's death hit me so hard. He was so sweet. :(
I enjoyed the Phantom Troupe as well. The show established that the Phantom Troupe are bad people, and that is a fact. But they do a good job with making them feel human. The way the react with the loss of their own, interact with one another, and see each other as friends really help establish them as characters, instead of just the 'villains of the season.' That's why scenes with them were so interesting, especially Pakunoda's death scene. (Oh and Shalnark is adorable)
There wasn't too much of Gon and Killua, but the scenes with them were so cute. It was a nice breather to see the crew trying to get money after seeing all the angst in Kurapika's story line. Zepile was fun and Leorio, as always was amazing.
It was nice seeing the four interact with each other. I live for healthy friendships in media, and seeing those four made my heart happy. It was nice to see how Kurapika was so nice to them even if he was shown to be a bit darker. His whole speech about him having good friends was just so sweet.
The plot itself of Yorknew arc was so fun too. The threads with the auction, mafia community, the Phantom Troupe, and gathering money were so fun to follow. Oh and seeing Zushi in the intro with the lyrics 'try again' was really funny (seeing as he failed Wing's test lmao). Hisoka showing with the lyrics 'go away' showed my exact feelings too (guy's a creep).
Overall, Season 3 was amazing, and my favorite season yet. I'm excited to see the Greed Island arc! (I just started, and it looks cool! It seems like Hisoka is a protagonist now based on the intro??? Oh, and the outro is so cute for season 4!)
I might make an in-depth review one day but for now I'll leave it here.
Signing off,
Jade

KILLING GAME THRESHOLD AU UNCLEAN THOUGHTIES,,,,,,,,,,,
In the context we’ve given it which is like JANEWAY/KARR REAL,,,,,,,,,,,,
the visual popped into my head of like,,,,, the two of them talking privately with one another, whether that be at Katrine’s establishment or maybe in a more intimate setting like a bedroom,,,,, I can imagine him sifting through his words very carefully as not to break the illusion, interested in listening to her advice on his situation outside of the holodeck, however he would choose to phrase it, somehow this fictional version of the starfleet captain still manages to console and understand his difficulties. She herself would probably be enamored but him as well, though in the context of her simulated memories her admiration stems on that narrative.
I love the tragedy too of like,,, I think the emh establishes with seven that when she retains her actual memories she forgets the simulated ones completely if not for the majority. AND WITH THAT,,,,,,,, I bet Karr seeing Kathryn outside of the holodeck in his chambers would have him experience a pang of sadness as reality sinks in and the illusion of their relationship HOWEVER EXTENSIVE OR BRIEF is over.
Maybe a part of her would instinctively trust him, highly unfounded and many would question her willingness to negotiate and collaborate with him, but there’s just something about him, itching at the back of her mind. Maybe she sees it in the way he looks at her too. ITD BE SO SAD IF HE SLIPPED AND CALLED HER KATRINE. :’’’’(
It’s so epic and sad he dies (maybe in my own reality lol) in her arms heheh. It’d be funny if they’d had a previous convo surrounding that like dying in ur lovers arms or something and that being the last thing u see before death. Maybe Karr’s evaded death for so long and he finally finds contentment to let go after meeting kathryn idk SOMETHING CORNY HAHA I JUST LOVE ESTABLISHED PARALLELS. Maybe they intimately talked about what they wanted after the “war” while in the simulation together and karr’s been so focused on the survival of his species for so long he struggles to think of an answer and maybe Katrine suggests she wants to find love or something schmoozy and french hehe, maybe she says a french phrase or something and he repeats it to her as he’s dying and she like, obviously doesn’t remember ever saying it so it’s a little sad haha.
IVE WATCHED KILLING GAME TWICE THIS WEEK WERE GONNA WAYCH IT AGAIN TONIGHT PROBABLY LOL ❤️❤️❤️

the thing is there's like, a point of oversaturation for everything, and it's why so many things get dropped after a few minutes. and we act like millennials or gen z kids "have short attention spans" but... that's not quite it. it's more like - we did like it. you just ruined it.
capitalism sees product A having moderate success, and then everything has to come out with their "own version" of product A (which is often exactly the same). and they dump extreme amounts of money and environmental waste into each horrible simulacrum they trot out each season.
now it's not just tiktokkers making videos; it's that instagram and even fucking tumblr both think you want live feeds and video-first programming. and it helps them, because videos are easier to sneak native ads into. the books coming out all have to have 78 buzzwords in them for SEO, or otherwise they don't get published. they are making a live-action remake of moana. i haven't googled it, but there's probably another marvel or starwars something coming out, no matter when you're reading this post.
and we are like "hi, this clone of project A completely misses the point of the original. it is soulless and colorless and miserable." and the company nods and says "yes totally. here is a different clone, but special." and we look at clone 2 and we say "nope, this one is still flat and bad, y'all" and they're like "no, totally, we hear you," and then they make another clone but this time it's, like, a joyless prequel. and by the time they've successfully rolled out "clone 89", the market is incredibly oversaturated, and the consumer is blamed because the company isn't turning a profit.
and like - take even something digital like the tumblr "live streaming" function i just mentioned. that has to take up server space and some amount of carbon footprint; just so this brokenass blue hellsite can roll out a feature that literally none of its userbase actually wants. the thing that's the kicker here: even something that doesn't have a physical production plant still impacts the environment.
and it all just feels like it's rolling out of control because like, you watch companies pour hundreds of thousands of dollars into a remake of a remake of something nobody wants anymore and you're like, not able to afford eggs anymore. and you tell the company that really what you want is a good story about survival and they say "okay so you mean a YA white protagonist has some kind of 'spicy' love triangle" and you're like - hey man i think you're misunderstanding the point of storytelling but they've already printed 76 versions of "city of blood and magic" and "queen of diamond rule" and spent literally millions of dollars on the movie "Candy Crush Killer: Coming to Eat You".
it's like being stuck in a room with a clown that keeps telling the same joke over and over but it's worse every time. and that would be fine but he keeps fucking charging you 6.99. and you keep being like "no, i know it made me laugh the first time, but that's because it was different and new" and the clown is just aggressively sitting there saying "well! plenty of people like my jokes! the reason you're bored of this is because maybe there's something wrong with you!"
