Crazy how for the Dagor Dagorath, Tolkien put the ultimate destruction of Morgoth in the hands of a man meaning that it may not happen (because Men are not bound by the song). It's the ultimate suspense, what if in the end he becomes too afraid? (not likely) what if he allies with Morgoth (EXTREMELY not likely)? However, NOT impossible. Nothing is impossible because Men are not bound by the song.

For the WIP poll game, here’s eight(ish) sentences of my Silmarillion Regency AU where Fëanor has seven daughters to marry. I finally had the energy and brainpower to write my ideas down after a week of migraine.
Also, I came up with a title: A season in Alqualondë
The Noldoran family seldom resided in London but, when Fëanáro packed his wife and seven daughters to spend a season in the capital, the large mansion of Tirion, on Túna Street, rarely knew a moment of peace with the bustling of daughters and visitors. Fëanáro himself had little interest in social niceties and spent most of his time in his study, listening fondly to the sounds of his family being happy.
And indeed there was a commotion downstairs and, soon enough, Kanamíriel’s excited voice rang in the hallway along useless shushing noises from Nelyamíriel. Fëanáro set his papers down as his two eldest daughters nearly burst into his study, still wearing their gloves and bonnet.
“Welcome home my darlings,” Fëanáro smiled, looking at them over his reading spectacles.
Kanamíriel answered by excitedly waving a cream coloured enveloppe under his nose. “Papa, Uncle Arafinwë invited us to spend the summer in Alqualondë, can we go please?” she exclaimed in one breath, eyes wide and pleading.

Hello, may I get headcanons for how an elf with a strict or serious attitude would react to being chosen by the valar, to act as a mentor to raise and teach a young human child, in their early teen years? Like how would they react to the child being very hyper and excited all the time and just wants to play, like how young kids usually do. Elves being very serious most of the time and wise, how would they react to having to deal with a complete opposite of themselves. Would they get mad and frustrated, or have patience? Would they try a different method of teaching to get them to pay attention? Etc? And how would they react to other humans or elves belittling the child for being raised by another race? You can choose the elf or elves if you want that would best fit this ask. One that is pretty much serious or is not used to being around kids.

Carnistir let out another sigh - witnessing your attention had yet again diverted elsewhere. He pinched the bridge of his nose as you blabbered on about whatever else that was not important as of this moment.
He really could not understand why the Valar had chosen him of all people - to mentor this hyperactive human child.
He still remembered standing before the Queen of the Stars herself - in shock and disbelief as she handed over you to him.
You were in fits of laughs and giggles - eagerly wrapping your arms around his legs.
Carnistir had asked Queen Varda as to why - but she chose not to reply him and only encouraged him to take care of you.
It was havoc at first - he has 6 brothers, 3 younger ones too, kids weren’t exactly a new concept to him but mentoring and raising you had been a completely different concept.
Not even the Ambarussa was this hard.
Carnistir had found himself in the aid of his mother multiple times.
His mother, being the ever wiser, had tried to advise both himself and you - you were simply a child craving his constant attention in whatever little thing that fascinated you.
He couldn’t understand why you couldn’t sit in one less and listen to him - however Nerdanel had explained to him children did not have the same attention span as adults.
Something he should have known. . .
But he couldn’t even teach more than 3 seconds - before you bounded off to somewhere interesting in whatever was in the other end of the room or happily rattled off about a particular story you read.
He let out a sigh and tried to speak with you - but chose to remember his mother’s advice.
Carnistir supposed it was getting late - he scooped you up in his arms still wondering how had bundles of energy to be fighting against him and refusing to be put to bed.
Sometimes it made him wonder if you were actually a human child.
He had placed Tyelko on a pedestal on being the one to never run out of energy - but somehow even you outturned him.
But he had come to terms on this is just who you were and he could not ever ask you to change - in all honesty he had grown to admire your hyperactive self, even if it made him roll his eyes or made him frustrated.
Some days Queen Varda had come to see how you were doing - and some days she took you away for a few days and Carnistir found those days to be quite lonely or too silent.
Usually he welcomed the peace and quiet with open arms but he found to be rather restless these days now - missing how you bound over to either him or something you found interesting in his study.
Or your endless chatter - he missed it so much.
The day you had returned to him - Carnistir found himself crouching with arms open ready to grasp you into a tight hug as you came running over and he closed his eyes in relief.
It was something he had never done so - but at that moment it felt like a natural reflex like he had been doing it all his life.
He had shocked himself with the gesture and how tightly he held onto you like you were his own. . .
It was at that moment he knew - you definitely made sure to keep yourself as a permanent fixture in his life. He loved hearing whine and cry for his attention in the mornings when you awake tired and hungry.
He loved how giddy how you jumped on his lap as he tried to do this work.
He loved how you babble out complete nonsense in the middle of meetings - making everyone in the room laugh.
He loved how you cuddled into his arms rubbing your sleepy eyes whenever you were tired from your active day.
He loved it all - and he would change any of it for the world.
When Carnistir had announced to adopt you - Queen Varda and Nerdanel was most pleased, it had been Fëanáro, his father that took the most convincing to take you into the family.
In all honesty he was afraid of his Morifinwë facing the mortality of the human child he decided to adopt and raise as his own.
But soon even you managed to melt the crown prince’s heart with hyperactive self and infectious giggles.
So soon - Carnistir had you as his own child, loving you just the way you were.
Though he still receives questionable looks and concerns - he never let any of it stop it from loving and spending every moment with you. . .
Because Eru knew, Carnistir did not have much time with you because of mortality. . .
Good luck with suitors - no one seems to be good enough for his child.
But when you finally find the one - he will be accepting, after being the big scary overprotective dad.
Your passing away would have been the hardest thing he would have to face - and it would have killed him too, but he kept himself alive and watched over your family line, never letting anything happen to your kin and descendants.
It was like seeing you being reborn again. . .

Happy STS!
Tell me about your newest WIP idea, or ideas for a current WIP that are haunting you. Even if you haven't written them down. Even if they'll die in a matter of days. I'd love to hear all about it!
Happy belated STS! Thanks for the question and the patience💜
My newest WIP that is a full story and not a little vignette that I'd write in one sitting, is what I've been tagging as 'wip: [redacted]' and referring to as 'retelling parody thingy', because I don't have the faintest idea for the title.
It's a novella set in my Sunblessed Realm not long before Days of Dusk, but has an entirely new cast of characters. It's also a retelling insofar as I'm taking the premise and a few plot beats, but then the ending diverges a lot. Here's the blurb:
Tilyon, a young minor noble, returns home after six years of studies, to find his childhood room occupied by a feisty stranger, his uncle rushing to match him with her, his neighbours inciting a feud over an abandoned manor that stands on disputed land between their estates, and the neighbours' heir being on his mind way more than he'd like.
It's intended to be a lighthearted novella about the younger generation learning to say 'no' to their elders, while having equally fiery spirits.
I welcome all suggestions for the title and even more so guesses what this is a retelling of😁. I'm also going to sneakily tag @another-white-hole and @rbbess110 because you might actually guess this one.
But I also have a very strong urge to write Silmarillion fanfiction😶

Another Lesson
Fandom: The Silmarillion
Pairing: Galadriel/Melian
Summary: Melian's new Noldor charge has been disobedient. A loving queen must teach her a lesson.
AN: De-anon of a quick fill for this prompt from the kink meme for a darker relationship between Melian and Galadriel.
Please note: This takes place before she has received the nickname "Galadriel" from Celeborn, so she is addressed by the Sindarized version of her father-name (Artanis), which is, somewhat confusingly, Arwen.
AO3 | Pillowfort
_______________________________________________
“Arwen.”
The young Noldo stood at the threshold of the queen’s room, but did not enter. Her hands were clenched at her sides.
“Come.” Melian spoke, as she always did, serenely. She did not raise her voice. She did not harden her eyes. She did not repeat herself.
And Artanis, despite her best intentions, passed over the threshold and came to the queen’s side.
            “Sit.”
Artanis knelt at Melian’s slippered feet.
“Remember you what I told you this morning?”
Artanis grit her teeth against the answer that pulsed against the back of her teeth. The desire to respond writhed in her chest until, fearing she would give herself away, she gave an answer:
            “Yes, my queen.”
Melian was not mollified. She reached out and stroked Artanis’ cheek, drawing a shudder through her, and some twisting feeling in her gut. Melian’s magic prowled around the edges of Artanis’ fëa; she did not probe, but Artanis knew she was capable of it. She resisted the urge to lean into Melian’s touch.
“I told you I wished you to stay silent at today’s meeting, did I not?”
            “Yes, my queen.”
“Why did you heed me not?”
“I…” I wanted to make you angry. “I thought I had insight to offer. Please, forgive me if I was not helpful to my queen.” Swallowing the bile in her throat, Artanis leaned forward to genuflect, but although her hands hit the floor, she could not make her elbows bend, could not make herself kowtow. “It is always my desire to serve the most noble queen of Doriath.”
“Tsk. Pride compounded by lies,” said Melian. “You’ve been a bad girl, Arwen. I would not be fair to you to let this pass.”
Artanis shuddered again and she did not know if the heat that rose in her breast was hers alone, or some magic of Melian’s. She wanted to strike the queen. She wanted to fling herself into Melian’s arms.
            “Of course not, my queen.”
“Look at me, Arwen.” Teeth grinding, Artanis raised her head, knowing she was about to make things worse for herself. She could never keep the anger from her eyes; Melian’s remonstrations echoed those of her mother and father, who warned her how much of her mind she wrote across her face. How Finrod managed to smile and speak lightly even when she knew him to be wroth always escaped her. Perhaps that was why he was king and she a handmaiden of Doriath. “Tsk. And unrepentant, too. Have I not treated you well?”
Melian rose to her feet and tugged Artanis up with her. She traced her fingers again down the side of Artanis’ alabaster face, studying her Tree-lit eyes with thoughts unknowable. Melian wore the form of Elvenkind, but she rarely allowed those around to forget what she truly was—there was an air of otherness, of inhumanity that she could not erase no matter how well she wore her costume. It was in her eyes.
“Have I been an unkind mistress to you, Arwen?”
            “No, my queen.”
“Have I not welcomed you into my home, allowed you my daughter as a playmate, even taken you as one of my own handmaids?” Melian’s long, tapering fingers swept down Artanis’ throat, momentarily fingering the necklace just below the hollow of her throat. “Are you not honored?”
“Yes, my queen. I am honored.”
“And yet you disobey. You rebel. Your pride compels you, even where there is nothing to gain. Why is that?” Melian’s hand stopped at Artanis’ breast, and she wondered how little force it would take for Melian to push straight through to her heart.
“I don’t know, my queen.” Daring, she added: “Perhaps it is simply a flaw of mine.”
“Mm, that, certainly. You will go nowhere and accomplish nothing if you cannot learn to master yourself, chicklet.” Melian drew her close with a hand at her hip. Artanis laid her head on Melian’s shoulder, enveloped in the sharp, earthy smell of her, and the Maia queen stroked the golden waterfall of her hair. The tension strung through her like a clothesline since she entered the room eased. “This is a punishment, dear girl,” Melian said. “But it is more than that. It is a lesson.”
Artanis felt Melian’s desire for her to kneel again before any words left her plump lips. This time, she face away from the vanity bench, and Melian wove into her hair a set of Melian’s own ribbons. It would have been a flattering gesture, a sign of the queen’s favor, if it were not coupled with something else—a woven necklace of reed, imbued with Melian’s own magic. She bound it around Artanis’ neck like the collar of a thrall, and when Melian pressed with her magic, Artanis could feel that hot pressure around her throat; she gasped and fell forward in spite of herself, instinctively clawing at the foreign object.
“Don’t touch,” said Melian, her gentle words a whip crack that instantly pulled Artanis’ hand away from her neck. “When you have proven to be a good girl, I will remove it.”
***
Thingol was not pleased with such displays of Melian’s in Menegroth’s throne room, but in the relative privacy of their dining hall, she took her freedoms. Food was not necessary for a Maia, but she dined with her family all the same—she knew that the partaking of meals was an important bonding ritual for the Children, and Luthien often took this time to share such news as she had with her parents.
At Melian’s feet was Finarfin’s daughter, with her head resting placidly against Melian’s thigh. Melian fed her bits of fruit and meat off the table, smiling each time Artanis obediently took the food from her fingers.
“That’s my sweet girl,” she cooed, running sticky fingers through Artanis’ hair. “Does it not ease you to be good?”
Dazed, Artanis nodded. Melian tried to offer her another bite of food, but Artanis turned her face away against Melian’s leg.
“What’s that? All done? You haven’t eaten very much.”
            “Tired,” Artanis murmured.
“Ah, it must be the new spell.” Melian reached down and stroked the collar. Getting it on her would have been a harder task if she had not been whittling at Artanis’ resistance since her arrival in Doriath. “I’m afraid it is rather a stronger one than usual. So let us hope you need not wear it long, yes?”
Artanis murmured unhappily and Melian gave her a sympathetic look.
“Husband, I believe I will take my leave for now,” she said to Thingol. “Poor Arwen is not feeling well.” Refraining from any comment on Melian’s choice of bonding with the Children, Thingol made no remark on her departure, though Melian nudged Artanis to say goodnight to Luthien on their way out.
As a reward for her docility, Melian allowed Artanis to lie in her bed for a time before being sent away to her own. Sleep was another thing a Maia did not need, but Thingol had seen fit to outfit Melian’s chambers with all the comforts one of the Elves would have desired. She made use of them as she saw fit.
“See you how easy things can be when you behave?” Melian murmured against Artanis’ hair. “You see how nice?”
“I see, my queen,” came the drowsy reply. “I will…be good for you.”
“Good.” Melian kissed her temple and she was sure that Artanis thought she didn’t see the clenched fist at Artanis’ side. “If you are not, I shall be sorely disappointed.”

Calling Tolkien Fan Artists!
(And enjoyers of Tolkien fan art!)
Utúlie’n aurë! Do you interact with or create fan art based on the work of J.R.R. Tolkien, particularly his Silmarillion? If you do, then we’d love to hear from you!
We are working on a book chapter about racial diversity and racebending in Tolkien fan art, and we are hoping to hear from fans and creators directly through this survey.
Who can participate?
Anyone who interacts with (i.e., likes, reblogs, comments on) and/or creates Tolkien fan art, and is over 18 years of age, is welcome to take this survey.
How can I participate?
If you fit those criteria above and want to participate, awesome! This survey will ask some broad questions about Tolkien fan art and racially diverse depictions of Tolkien characters. Some questions are multiple choice, and some are open answer; most are completely optional. For those open questions, you can share as much or as little as you choose to.
How long will it take?
This survey is entirely online and includes about 15 questions (the exact number you’ll see depends on which parts of Tolkien fandom you’re most active in). It should take about 20 minutes to complete, dependent on how much detail you want to share. No identifying or contact information is collected. You can skip most questions you don’t want to answer or quit the survey at any time if you choose to.
Who is running this survey?
Both researchers, Megan B. Abrahamson and Maria K. Alberto, are Tolkien and fan studies scholars (plus Tolkien fans!). We are conducting this survey as part of our work on a chapter for a forthcoming collection on race and Tolkien’s work.
Click here learn more and start the survey!

Hello!
My name is Eden! I’m completing my honours in economics this year. As such, I am starting a study blog to chronicle the experience.
I am autistic and have inattentive ADHD, so this blog will also explore what university is like for me and provide some study tips of what I’ve found works for me.
A little bit about me:
I have a bachelor of advanced economics
I was diagnosed as an adult (so if anyone would like some advice or to hear about my experiences they are welcome to send me an ask)
I enjoy reading and colouring in during my spare time
I am engaged!
I have an adorable apricot coloured miniature poodle named Poppi (expect the occasional picture of her)
My favourite study aesthetics are light academia and romantic academia
My interests include:
Tea (of course)!
Economics
The Lord of the Rings/The Silmarillion and Jane Austen novels
Dinosaurs
Classical music (especially from the Romantic period). My favourite composers are Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, and Dvořák (I also have a little soft spot for Grieg, Beethoven, and Chopin).
Here is a bonus picture of Poppi (featuring her brand new licky mat)!

I am absolutely not your new sister lol
Do not crack. Do not crack. God, too many things happening at once. I just got adopted and given a new name that everyone is suddenly using (they do not even have lapsus!) and now I am stuck with Artanis on a couch and in front of me is Finrod. Mon Dieu, it sounds like cliché fanfiction. but well. Let us get back to our sheep. My... addictive brother? What will he do again? I have a terrible memory of character people who do not brand me. And then I just read the Silmarillion and the Fall of Gondolin in addition to the normal pack lotr and the Hobbit!
"So Nenlissë... Welcome to the family. I am Finrod but call me Findarato. Your... adopted older brother, I guess. Unless you are older than me. How old are you?" "Uh... first of all, thank you Findarato and I'm sure I'm younger than you."
Damn my age. What am I supposed to say? Didn't he see that I am not an elf? And it is not very gentlemanly to ask a lady's age. Except that I am not one. Well, maybe now that I am part of Finwë's family. I am lost. I put the locks that hid my ears behind my ears and answered Finrod while he looked at me with astonishment.
"I have... 19 years old?"
It sounded more like a question than anything else but well. Artanis looked at me surprised and Finrod remained mouthy. And it was Arafinwë who spoke first.
"You are extremely young for elves. You see, Artanis is 18 years old, and generally, young people with your physique are between 50 and 60 years old." "50 and 60! That is considered old for humans. I mean, my parents were fifty."
Finrod pinched the bridge of his nose before interrupting us.
"Humans? Did you adopt a mortal? I thought they could not come here. We have to take her to the Valar. She is an intruder here. "
He stood up and took a step toward me. Arafinwë rose to his feet, surely to stop his son, but it was Eärwen who stopped him by placing a hand on her son's forearm.
"Nenlissë was before under the care of Manwë Sulimo and he was looking for a family that could take her in, Nenlissë is a special case and it was Eru himself who brought her here. We proposed ourselves and here we are."
Findarato sat back down and met his father's gaze before nodding slowly. Everyone relaxed and I drank some of the water that was in front of me.
"When do you plan to introduce her to Grandfather and the rest of the family?"
Wait. Grandpa? Family? I do not want to meet anyone. I mean, after all, I will be dead before the mess so... I can meet them with no problem. Is Melkor already here, liberated or not? Merde, I do not know anymore. And the Silmarils? Has Fëanor already created them or not?
"We will introduce her to Finwë and my brother and sisters when Nenlissë has settled in here and we will bring her to the next family reunion in two years where she will meet Fëanor's family."
He turned to me.
"Is that okay with you?"
I nodded. I will have time to improve in some areas before I meet Fëanor and his sons. Wait. There are sisters in the equation? I did not know that. Oh, but it is not Findis and Irimë? I thought they were the characters of my favorite Silmarillion illustrator. So... Argon is also in the game? Merde. Are these people I should avoid or not? I do not think so. It is Arafinwë and Ñolofinwë's sisters, so it should be fine. Eärwen and Artanis pulled me out of my thoughts as we went back to continue the tour of the house. And here we go!
~
Very quickly, six months passed. I quickly took my marks and a daily routine had settled in the household. Breakfast with everyone and then Quenya classes. The little I had left to learn and now we were working on writing. Then meal with the family and we went for an hour or two, Artanis, Eärwen and me, to horse. Once back, Arafinwë would teach Artanis and me strategy or archery, depending on the day. When we were studying strategy, the last few hours were used to conduct what we had learned. We would play games. Artanis and I against Arafinwë. And... we often lost. Otherwise, when we studied archery... it was hell. The captain of Arafinwë's guard was a real tyrant. I might as well tell you that I never had so much blue. But fortunately, in the evening we went swimming in the sea before going to eat and sleep. I taught Artanis to swim certain strokes and together (when we had the strength to do so) we did the training that I used to do in the past.
Today was a quiet day. A day of strategy. I quickly got ready and went downstairs to eat with everyone. But when I opened the door, I knew at a glance that today was not going to be like any other day. At the table, Finrod and the twins were present. Twins that I had already met but they, like Finrod, were much older and did not especially come to talk with me. But what surprised me most was that a woman I did not know was sitting at the table. With Arafinwë at her side, the resemblance was more than striking. Findis? Before I could get a confirmation, Artanis trotted over to me and pulled me toward the table.
"Nenlissë this is our aunt Findis. Auntie, this is Nenlissë, our new sister!"
I waved my hand vaguely in greeting and she gave me a big smile.
"I'm glad to finally meet you Nenlissë, I've heard a lot about you." "Likewise, Findis. It is an honor to meet you."
I sat in my seat and a house cleaner brought me my breakfast. Arafinwë and Findis were talking about things and I was only following the discussion with a lazy ear. Findis asked me a few questions afterward, but nothing too exciting. How I was doing, if I was adapting well to the house, and what I was doing during the day. Having my head still a little in the pillow, my answers were short and her attention quickly fell back on Arafinwë. I took advantage of the fact that she was not busy to try to slip away discreetly, so I would have less "intimate" connections with people close to Fëanor... But my discretionary mission failed because I did not escape Artanis' gaze.
"Where are you going Nenlissë?"
Great. Now everyone's attention is on me. Thank you Artanis.
"I thought I would go for a... walk in the forest with Alcar. And then take care of him."
Artanis gave me a suspicious look but I was saved from being questioned by Arafinwë.
"That is a very good idea Nenlissë! I am really glad you like Alcar so much, just be careful in the forest, and if you ever come across someone who disrespects you do not hold back from telling me." "Don't worry Arafinwë, I'll kick their butt first!"
Arafinwë chuckled and motioned for me to leave the room. I was about to walk out the door when Findis' voice stopped me.
"Oh, I almost forgot, Nenlissë, if you meet a dog or a wolf, don't make too much trouble for it."
I did not answer her and went to my room to put on clothes more suitable for riding. What did she mean by that? A wolf? A dog? I have walked this forest so many times that I could remember the location of every tree and I have never seen a canine... And if I remember correctly, the only dog that could be alive at this time is Huan and what would he be doing here? They are on bad terms Arafinwë and Fëanor, right? I hope so. Anyway, knock on wood, I would certainly not meet Celegorm here. Once changed, I went down to the stables and went to my stallion, Aclar. He is my dear torture companion with Artanis and his horse because we were also learning to shoot while riding and it is a horror. Because afterward, we have to go and get our arrows that have missed the target. You might as well ask to go look for needles in a haystack...
"Hi beautiful, today no training, just you and me in the forest."
Apparently, the horses understand Quenya and also English because Aclar understands me when in the action of the moment I speak to him in English so now I speak English to him, and like that, I do not forget my language. After about ten minutes, we were ready to enter the forest, the words of Findis were running through my head and I had, therefore, as a precaution and to protect Aclar if an animal attacked him, taken my bow and arrows as well as a dagger that Angrod or rather Angarato or Ango to make it short offered me when we met. Much more talkative and friendly than his brother this twin, surely the brother with whom I spoke the most. Lost in my thoughts, I let Aclar lead us where he wanted and fifteen minutes later, we arrived near a small pond.
"Let us take a small pose here my dear Aclar, it is a heat not possible today! Quench your thirst as much as you want my beautiful, I invite you!"
Aclar passed by me while pushing me slightly and started to drink. On my side, I left in search of a rock in the shade or even just in the shade where I could settle down and write in my notebook, my last day and try to remember the maximum detail of the future. But nothing to do, if I wanted shade, I had to go slightly deeper into the forest. Determined not to burn in the sun, I joined Aclar and put my hand on his crest.
"I'm going to look for some shade in the forest because I don't have your tough skin... I will not be long, do you want to wait for me here?"
Aclar huffed to approach my request. I patted his crest one last time before heading back into the forest. Now I have to find a rock or something to sit on... So... Tree, Tree, Tree, Tree, Tree, Dog, Tree, Tree, Tree, ah! A rock! Wait. Dog?

Hey! I have no idea how this app works anymore, but anyway! I decided to make this blog because Instagram and TikTok keep limiting possibilities for me as a creator and I heard some folks moved over to here, so I thought it was worth the try. :) My name is Alex, I'm 24, and I cosplay mainly from The Silmarillion. I also like Marvel and cosplay from there occasionally. I study archaeology and history and in my free time I swim, life weights, write, and play games. I also do LARP and occasional historical reenactment. I'm a chaotic fool that does not really take anything seriously. Welcome to my place and have a nice stay! ❤🤘

hello, welcome to my side-blog for writing!
my main is @pyrochilles where i post most of my art and all my other stuff. i'm an 18-turning-19 year old studying theatre, who also quite enjoys writing.
i write mainly for the silmarillion fandom. my asks are open for suggestions, but not quite like "requests" because i have chronic illness + such random spurts of inspiration that i don't want to promise to write anything just incase i never get around to it.
concerning requests :
i do sort of one-shots and imagines, it can be just "a character + a word" or it can be a specific scenario. my limits are : ab*se, inc*st, and i won't write anything that i notice makes me uncomfortable.
masterlist :
"Pears" - Maedhros fic.
"Good Time" - Maglor fic.

Not all you've heard of the Dark Lord of Mordor may be the truth. As a start, it may be that we have to deal with a Dark Lady, whose main mistake had always been being more interested in experimenting on magic and possibilities than in actual politics. Things may change, when two Hobbits entered from the Black Gate, found nothing they would expected Mordor to be -surely not a welcoming place where Orcs were more busy trying to plant and grow greens than actually conquering the world- and started to realise that the real problem was another wannabe-evil overlord... Who as so many before him had been fooled by a very bad translation on the inscription on a certain Ring.
(Someone commented under one of my illustrations that my canon Inquisitor, a Lavellan who cries at every dragon she slays and would resolve problems offering people food if she could, had "the eye of Sauron". I imagined her in Sauron's place and chaos ensued. Said chaos made me laugh too much to leave it in my head, apparently. LotR, but with Dragon Age characters because yes.)

Welcome!
I’m Kalh (she/her, fae/faer). I’m 25. I talk a lot about my sister and my partner, both of whom I love very much.
I’m asexual and biromantic. I’m a D&D Dungeon Master on holiday, a fanfic writer, and a fanart illustrator. I’ve been obsessed with elves and elvish creatures since I learned to read (Elfquest, The Silmarillion, Legend of Zelda, D&D — you name it). I love winter, brown bears, trees, and moss, and will romanticise any of these if given the chance.
I’m also the artist and writer behind the Links Winter AU, the writer of the Four Swords fanfics Just close your eyes (don’t leave me here alone) and Every Day is Christmas if the Vibes are Right on Ao3, and the writer for the various stories over at @interactivestorytellingwithkalh .

Please be aware that English is not my native language. Like any other non-native speaker, I can make lingual and cultural mistakes. If I do, please send me a polite ask/message so I can acknowledge and correct it!

Remembering Christopher Tolkien, 1924–2020 Fenek Solère
J. R. R. Tolkien’s youngest son, Christopher, died on January 15 at the age of 95. Even in old age, Christopher cut a striking scholarly figure, sitting as he did in a green cardigan before a log fire. His reedy voice, occasionally crackling like the dry wood in the stone hearth at his feet, carrying with it subtle wisps of academic gravitas, as smoky shadows curled like grey-blue snakes around a towering bookcase filled with leather-bound tomes looming like Orthanc over his shoulder. Shelves stacked with studies of ancient texts like the Ancrene Wisse and the Ormulum. The whole scene — a sequence from a documentary entitled J.R.R.T: A Film Portrait of J.R.R. Tolkien (1996) — is somewhat reminiscent of the ominous expository chapter “The Shadow of The Past” from Tolkien’s magnum opus. A prescient image, given Christopher’s filial crusade to preserve the integrity of his father’s work and bring unpublished manuscripts like The Silmarillion (1977) and Unfinished Tales (1980) to light.
Christopher, born in Leeds while his father tutored at University there and later educated at Oxford’s famous Dragon School, joined the Royal Air Force and served in South Africa before lecturing at New College Oxford from 1964 to 1975 and publishing his own translation of The Saga of King Heidrek the Wise (1960). Described by his father as his “chief critic and collaborator,” he was warmly welcomed by such intellectual giants as C. S. Lewis, Charles Williams, Owen Barfield, Warren Lewis, and Nevill Coghill, as a junior member of the famed Inklings group that met at the Eagle and Child Inn on St Giles, Oxford.
