Let's talk about The Atlas Obscura Podcast from @atlasobscura and @witnessdocs . Yes, that's right people, Atlas Obscura, the website, started it's lil old self a podcast in 2020. For the uninitiated, Atlas Obscura is a website that catelogs some of the most quirky, wonderful, surprising, and beautiful places on the planet. Giant ever burning hole in remote Turkmenistan? Got it. Spite houses? Got some. Boiling river in the Amazon? Got that too. The World's most beautiful public restroom? Yup. Festivals? Roadside attractions big and small? Beautiful music? Natural wonders? Singing Sand? Yes. Atlas has all that. And though it's verified by the staff, the cool thing about it is that if you've seen, heard, created(?) something worthy of Atlas Obscura, just submit a place! They feed off crowd source. Whenever I've moved somewhere in the past 10 years, I've checked Atlas to see what cool things are nearby. And the podcast is just as wonderful as the website. Co-founder, Dylan Thuras, is our main host, with other Atlas editors and researchers popping in from time to time. In each less than 15 minute episode Dylan and the team take us someplace weird and wonderful, including short segments interviewing native people, creators, inventors, artists, and just sharing the joy of discovery with us.
