Hello to all who may see this post! I, Kenzie, come at you once again with yet another splendid roleplay server. As you may know i have advertised a roleplay server upon my tumblr in the past, but this one is a different one. (as always, the invite link is at the bottom.)

So let me ask you a question, do you like slice of life rp mixed with a bit of adventure, a lot of mystery and just a teeny bit of horror if you consider some certain implications? Then boy do I have the right roleplay for you!

Introducing, Crown's County! A roleplay that's a mix of primarily Slice of Life and Mystery. Your setting is the small little town of Crown's County, but that begs the question, how did you character get there? Did they move there one day? Or had they lived there all their lives? (somehow, neither of those seem just right)

Can you trust your memories? That will all depend on your Awareness Level, or AL for short! AL is a fun little mechanic for this roleplay, and will help you with rolls(like in dnd) and serves as a marker towards your character's progression in solving all of Crown's County's mysteries!

But do you think that's all i have to share? Nope! Because I have a limited time offer for those willing to join! (and stay)

The possibilities in Crown's County are almost endless! You could make a (sealed for lore purposes) Eldritch Horror work in retail! You could investigate a spooky forest! You can get up to highschool hyjinks! There's tons of possibilities to be discovered!

} You know what I'm gonna say, don't be rude, transphobic, Homophobic, Racist, you get the jist, don't be a jerk.

} Proshipping will not be tolerated here, if you are a proshipper then please get the heck out of this server.

} There's a limit of two to three main characters per person, however you can request to play an NPC character as well

} If your character has powers, I must say that they are sealed. They can use pathetically weak versions of those powers though. (Such as, someone who can fly can just levitate now.) Why? Well, that's a lore reason i can't spill yet

} Yes, there is a chance that your characters can die in this rp. But, who's to say that a new version of them can't come and take their place? But, if your character dies, then don't throw a hissy fit. There's a chance they can come back

} Please be patient with the mods (aka me), we have our own schedules and such

} Don't make yourself a protagonist, or a mary-sue/gary-stu. While I admit being all powerful and being unable to get hurt by like, anything. Nobody really has all that much power here, not even gods.

} If you wish to do any evil plotting or secret actions, then do so in your private channel which will be provided to you by the mods upon you claiming a character or saying that you will be roleplaying.

} Absolutely no ERP or NSFW, there are minors on this server

} Oh yeah, if you want to ship your character with someone else's character within the RP you must ask for their permission to pursue their character

} Non-human characters will have to be humanized but can retain certain non-human aspects, but not too many. (for lore reasons)

} PLEASE remember to censor potentially triggering topics, if you don't know how to censor it's just putting || on both sides of the text you are censoring

} Please abide by the Blacklist.

Oh, right. Discord. Sometimes I forget that's the main reason I dropped out of the community.

There's simply a categorical difference between decentralized online spaces like Tumblr, where no one's the boss, and a space like Discord, where there's a strict hierarchy of authority that includes the ability to remove people and censor topics at will. This sounds a bit dramatic, but regardless of how good-hearted an authority is, power corrupts.

This has been discussed elsewhere, but requiring identification is obviously a massive barrier to participation in these spaces. As much as we may trust a long-time community member, we can't expect newcomers to do so, and as a result, the majority of community activity is hidden from view. And regardless of our trust, providing identification to a third party is always dangerous - even real companies have data breaches all the time. It wouldn't take a genius to see a bunch of kink-community information on a lost or stolen computer and think, "here's a bunch of people I might be able to blackmail." I know they delete it afterward, but there's umpteen other ways the process could be compromised. I respect the dedication to ensuring everyone's of-age but it just inherently strangles the community to have most activity go on in these hidden spaces. No one's fault - more like a tragedy of the commons. Kind of literally that, actually, in the sense that what was once held in common is now privately controlled.

And another thing. These convention hotels always reminded me just a bit too much of trips to visit my grandparents. Not that I have any better ideas, really. Maybe we can have something like Burning Man & put up a giant pendulum out in the desert. And then burn it, I guess. I don't know, I'd go.

I'm hoping Mastodon picks up. I made this one here https://mastodon.triggerphra.se/@dommesticpet and I like the idea of a decentralized, not-quite-free-for-all (and for all I know I'll move to another instance). It seems like the kind of thing that offers everything people wanted with Tumblr, minus a critical mass of users. Also you're at the mercy of a local server tyrant rather than a corporation - so you need to be careful what you share and where, just like anywhere. It's imperfect but at least it's harder to police the entire thing if someone doesn't like whatever it is you're interested in doing with your consenting adult partner(s).

So far I haven't found a Mastodon instance with a particularly compelling group feed (no offense, triggerphra.se) but adoption is new for most people and it probably is just as likely to disappear as it is to get more popular. But also nobody is there yet.

Back in the day it was the Wild West with Usenet, or Yahoo groups, or IRC, and it has been a lot harder to find a good home for this kind of stuff. Discord is a great way to do real-time chat but not exactly good for archiving stuff. Even Tumblr is a little hard to search. I assume everybody wouldn't want to go to Blogger.

To use that as a basis of comparison everybody could just descend on a single hotel, but that's got problems too. Given you have to pay for tickets, most likely with something with your name on it over the internet, anonymity is tough. And if you have a ban list, you want to have a means to filter people out and hope they have the best intentions/shred your name after things are over. As long as there's a stigma against this kind of stuff all we can hope for is better and better best-practices, and hopefully someone is dreaming up a few new ones as we speak.

Some people have been slandering me on other blog(s?) very recently. I would like to explain my side of the situation regarding this. [Thank you to anonymous person who DMed me about this.]

edited 12/2: I mistakenly assumed the 'second server admin' was someone involved with creating or moderating the server. I apologize for making assumptions, and have corrected 'second server admin' to 'second person on behalf of the server' also abbreviated as ‘second person’.

The original server admin was not involved in the slander or misleading ask messages to other blog(s?). I apologize for stating they were. They were not involved with such messages or posts.

I also forgot the first server admin did respond after my refusal. I did purposefully ended the conversation early in order to avoid engaging in system discourse as a singlet. I realize now that I should have been more communicative and clearer on my part. I am sorry I was not, and will take care to do so in the future.

I also want to clarify w/r/t to taking a neutral stance isn’t the best answer to system discourse, and it is taking a side on the conversation whether I intend to as a singlet or not. My intention is to minimize harm caused on my part as a singlet navigating through intracommunity discussions.

Lastly, the concern of lesbophobia has no relation to this server or server admin. I am largely unaware of the origins of these accusations and apologize for mistakenly assigning them to the server admin and server. I’m aware lesbians can be lesbophobic. For the sake of post length and relevance, I omitted this.

note: I'm using they / them because there’s two people involved, and I don't know their respective pronouns. This is not purposeful misgendering. There is a summary on the bottom, but I appreciate anyone who reads this.

This is what happened.

Yesterday, 11/30. someone asked for a server promo for an interest check they sent in. On their server promo post they stated 'no endo systems, no tulpas'.

This blog doesn't promo blogs or servers that prohibit any type of system from joining or interacting with the person's blog or server.

note: this is long and is below the read more. 

I informed the person about this rule. They said nothing in response. [correction: they did respond. I purposefully ended the conversation abruptly to avoid engaging in system discourse as a singlet.]

A second person on behalf of the server, came into this blog's DMs requesting a promo, saying they changed their mind about restricting endogenic systems and tulpas from joining them.

I declined to promo their blog again, having private concerns that they were being dishonest about their intentions. This is because their message came within 30 minutes of my response to the original server admin.

If they really hadn't changed their minds, then I would be sending people into a harmful situation. [My response to the second person was, as quoted here, "No, thank you! Good luck with your server!"]

The person immediately became upset and stated that as a singlet I was gatekeeping their server by refusing to engage with them in any form. I explained this rule was a public guideline on this blog's page, it's not a secret requirement, and that I cannot engage in encouraging system discourse since it's not my community.

I am a singlet. People have in the past been rightfully vocal about not giving a platform on this blog to anyone gatekeeping specific types of systems. I understand and respect that this is an intracommunity discussion, and I will not disseminate such content as it's not my place to.

I responded to their message point by point, expounding on what I meant with the promo rules and so forth. I ended my message trying to disengage with the person in a positive manner and go to bed.

This person responded, claiming I was making jokes about needing to be paid to joke about systemcourse.  I have a copy of our entire conversation and can verify I never said anything like that.

My last reply to that was to state I was disengaging in case it wasn't clear from the prior message, because communication is tricky over the internet.

I felt it was clear from the conversation that I could offer no further help for them. I felt there was nothing left to explain, that they would continue to put words in my mouth, and they only wanted to berate me. I had no further contact with them as I went to bed.

As for the dishonesty and rumors those two have tried to spread about me:

I have not invalidated any type of system in private dms or publicly anywhere. I have never said a type of system was the only correct one, or more legitimate than others. I have never tried to inform anyone about systems as if I knew more than them. [correction: I have and I will apologize for it summarily in another post.]

I have not told anyone to not make servers or promo posts for their servers.

Not promoting a server isn't lesbophobia.

I have never said anything lesbophobic or discussed anything about lgbt identities to anyone regarding system discourse, their system, or anything like that.

I'm a transmisogyny exempt nonbinary lesbian. I have never been purposefully lesbophobic to anyone publicly or privately. I don't even make or reblog ironic homophobia jokes. I might live in the closet for the rest of my life aside from being freely lesbian in online spaces. I'm excruciatingly aware how terrible lesbophobia is and would never wish it on anyone.

The blog rule of not promoting servers who exclude types of systems is for all systems. Endo-, trauma-, quoi-, and so on. Tbh this goes for soulbonds as well because hey, there's an overlap of them and the system community.

My refraining from participating in intracommunity discussions is not ableism. My refusal to reblog promos for anything at all, for any reason is not oppression or ableism. [correction: it’s not a perfect resolution on my part to attempt neutrality. My aim is to prevent excessive harm or distress on a blog meant for the alterhuman community. Me remaining silent on system discourse is taking a side or stance,whether I intend to or not.]

I'm aware this blog has a large audience and I'd rather be careful about what I show to 5,000 people. The purpose of promos is to share that which would help the alterhuman community at large. To promote anything that divides sections of the overlapping communities would go against that. I can’t see how this is unreasonable.

I know this blog posts some sketchy and out there confessions. That is generally the purpose of a confession blog. [Within reason, ofc. No death threats, etc] I feel that vent / heavy themed posts limited to a single blockable blog is not the same as promoting servers where 'Us vs Them' mentalities are grown and encouraged.

If you disagree with me trying to maintain a neutral stance regarding system discourse, ok. I'm not here to change minds or take sides. I don't have the right to a voice in this specific conversation. I only want to make it clear what happened between me and two other people, and why they are saying hurtful things about me.

In summary:

Two different people asked me to promote their discord server that banned endogenic systems and tulpas from joining. As per the Promo Guidelines page, we do not promote those servers. I am a singlet and engaging in system discourse is not acceptable. [correction: one server admin asked me to promote their server. I declined. A second person on behalf of the server tried again to request a server promo.]

One of the server admins had a conversation with me. I explained the rule regarding banning types of Systems. The server admin took it poorly, stating my refusal to join in intracommunity discourse as a singlet was ableism on my part. [Correction: the second person may not have been an server admin, but acting on behalf of the server]

The two server admins are now slandering me on other blog(s?), saying I'm ableist, taking sides on system discourse despite being a singlet, and being lesbophobic. [Correction: it was only the second person, not the server admin.]

I've done none of those things. I have a copy of the conversations to prove it. I don’t want to post it without their consent, unless I really must to prove I wasn’t behaving inappropriately.

I am a transmisogyny exempt nonbinary lesbian who can only be publicly open about my identity online. I am in the closet in real life to my entire family. I know how torturous lesbophobia is and would never be lesbophobic to anyone.

[In fact, the topic of lgbt+ identities never came up in that conversation. I'm confused where that came from.]

If you read any of this, thank you. I really hope I haven’t behaved poorly regarding this. I would like to apologize if I have. I genuinely don’t think I have been unreasonable in this situation.

Hello!! I've been saving up money for a while in order to buy a Switch! But I only really will have the money to buy one or two games initially! I kinda wanna get Splatoon but I don't really know a lot about it? Would you recommend it compared to other games available on the Switch I could get? Hi!! Yeah, Ashe and I run the blog @salmonruntips​ where we post tips and tricks for the Salmon Run mode!

Honestly, Splatoon 2 is an amazing game. I have over 500 hours in it, so it’s by far the game I’ve played the most on my Switch (2nd is Breath of the Wild with around 150 hours). An important thing to note, however, is that most of those hours came from playing with friends. Either doing Salmon Run with friends, or playing private battles, or participating in Splatfests, or playing League mode. I had Splatoon 1 on my WiiU and I barely played 30 hours of it because I didn’t have a lot of friends at the time to play it with. imo, having friends to play the game worth makes it 1000% more worthwhile than just playing on your own.

Splatoon 2 is a ton of fun. The single player is good, the Octo Expansion is even better, and playing with random people can still be a lot of fun. But you can unlock everything the game has to offer relatively quickly, and from there, the only incentive to keep playing is to get better and have fun. I have so much in-game money and literally nothing to spend it on lol. So it all comes down to what interests you as a player! If you don’t have a lot of friends who play Splatoon and you know that you aren’t super interested in playing with randoms all the time, it may not be for you. If you do have plenty of friends who already have it (or are willing to make new friends--we run a Salmon Run discord server so people can make friends and play together!) then I think Splatoon 2 is a much more enjoyable experience. You can goof off with your friends, practice your skills, and do that good good teamwork stuff. 

Aside from Splatoon 2, I’d say that Breath of the Wild is a must-have for the Switch. That game was the only one I had on my Switch for months, and I was completely happy with just that. Super Mario Odyssey is another very popular option, though tbh I can’t get into Mario games that much for some reason x_x You can also buy cheaper smaller games, like the Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy or Sonic Mania, which are both excellent and less expensive than the big mainstream Nintendo games.

How on earth do you find someone to do hypnosis with? Part 2, where I actually try and be useful!

It's been a while since my original post on this kind of topic, so I figure I'd revisit it a bit, having learnt a bit more, having had a touch of success, and a desire to actually give some useful bloody info to other people. So let me try and go through the places someone in hypnokink can go to meet other people in hypnokink, and possibly find people to mess about with!

IRL

Let's start with the most obvious, most ideal, and often the most difficult area. Real life. Brutally honest here, good fucking luck if you're only trying this on your own. You're either going to have to have a miracle finding someone else who's interested by complete random (not happened for me), convince someone to give it a go and thus get them into it (not happened for me either lol), or, more realistically, see (hope) that there's a local scene in your area that does meetups/munches/other events to go to.

If there is, you're probably somewhat set! As there'll be things you can go to where you're basically guaranteed to meet other people into hypnosis! Caveats apply that these may not be people you're interested in, or who are interested in you. That's kind of the same with everything, but you're probably looking at a very limited number of people if you're trying to find someone to play with irl, and I can't offer any better advice about that honestly.

If there isn't, well, you're either gonna have to sit around and whinge that there isn't, or step up and try to make things happen yourself. I've definitely written about that at least once, seeing as I did actually choose the latter option.

Of course, that raises the obvious question of "How do I find if there's a local scene?", which I'll cover with some of the other places I'll talk about.

Fetlife

We are talking about kink, so fetlife is an obvious place to mention. Fetlife is basically a social media platform specifically for kink. I'd describe it as a mix of facebook, a bunch of internet message boards, and a dating site. If there's a local scene and events going on in your area, odds are good they're advertising, or at least a bit active on fetlife, just because it's the easiest and largest kinky place to get the message out. There's also the benefit that it's for basically all forms of kink, so it's pretty cool to see what else goes on in your part of the world, and try other things potentially.

That said, I, and many others, don't like fetlife a whole lot, and a lot of hypnokink people are basically only on it nowadays for event advertising, and seeing what events go on that might be interesting, without actually participating much on the site in other ways. The reason for this, is connected to how I describe fetlife as part dating site. There are a LOT of creepy, awful people on fetlife, and it's rather disgusting. If you're looking to meet people, you're probably going to have to wade through a bunch of crap, especially if you're a woman. Most girls I know who've been on there have far too many stories of people creeping on them there and such, to the point where a lot of them don't like the place.

It has its purposes, the events are cool, but it's more of a way of finding out events and such to meet people irl, in my opinion.

Tumblr

Ok, I'm actually relatively new to tumblr, and I'm not really much a part of the community here. But there's an active hypnokink community active around here with a lot of cool interesting people. That's about all I can say for now without talking out of my arse until I start connecting around more or something.

These are chatroom sites. Again, I can't say much about these, I know a lot of people who've met people through them and had a lot of fun, but I never used them myself. Moving on!

Discord Right, I can talk a lot about discord!

Alrighty, so discord is a (free) text and voice chat platform, divided into a bunch of distict user-made servers that you can join and be a part of, each with its own set of rooms to chat in, some via text, some via voice (video soon too). The hypnokink community has made a lot of use of discord in the past year or so, especially as a lot of us moved off of fetlife at the start of the year.

There's a few main servers for hypnokink there (with invite links):

I'm only a member of the first two, for obvious reasons. But I love the communities there, discord is awesome. I genuinely think it's the best place to go to if you want to meet a heap of people (online), as the servers generally have conversation going at most points in the day, and if you're on at the right time there's large voice chats and stuff to join in on, sometimes some group hypnosis sessions. A lot of people connect through there and play privately too.

The communities there are seriously welcoming, and helpful to any newbies who pop in and ask questions. Just remember that the culture there is generally pretty against playing with random people, so if you're expecting to jump in and instantly play you'll likely be disappointed. I hope this all helps people a bit, I’ll eventually re-visit this as I learn even more of course. I’d like to figure out how to introduce people to hypnosis eventually (as in people who are utterly new to it), and get more used to tumblr. But all in time.

New to kissfanxing this year, the mods are happy to introduce the buddy system as a part of our 2017-2018 round! You’ve probably seen heard bits and pieces regarding the buddy system throughout the info posts and emails that we’ve been sending out, but the time has come to provide full info on what exactly the buddy system is, what it entails, and how to join if you’re interested!

➵ So, what is the buddy system?

The buddy system is a way to connect kissfanxing participants with the mods to help ease some of the stress/pressure (stressure?) that comes with the creative process. Buddy system participants will have the opportunity to be paired up with one of the four kissfanxing mods (pinky, bubbles, bucky, egghead) to act as sort of a “mentor” throughout the kissfanxing journey.

➵ What is the purpose of the buddy system?

Our goal in introducing the buddy system is so that participants/potential participants don’t let the daunting nature of writing/drawing/creating work deter them from joining kissfanxing. As writers ourselves, we know how stressful creating fanwork can be, so that’s why we created the buddy system to provide support in any way we can. We’re hoping that the installation of the buddy system helps put first time participants at ease, as well as draw in people interested in joining kissfanxing but don’t know where to start with navigating fests. And even if this isn’t your first time doing kissfanxing, you’re still welcome to join in on the buddy system.

Overall, the buddy system fits in well with this year’s theme of “spreading the love” - we’re hoping that this way, everyone, whether new or old, will feel welcomed into the fanxing community.

➵ How does the buddy system work?

Once participants are assigned to their designated “squad” (my squad is with me, we’re the cream de la cre-me), they will be asked to make a Discord account (discordapp.com) so they can be added to the kissfanxing server and their specific “squad leader” (mod) channel (i.e. #pinky, #bubbles, #bucky, #egghead).

Think of Discord like a series of customized chatrooms. The kissfanxing server is open to all of our participants on Discord, while the individual mod channels are private to the mod and the members of their squad. From there, private chats can be opened between (groups of) people, and there are other channels that participants can join/be added to, all of which is outlined in the Discord guide that will be sent out.

Most of the communication between the mods and their squad members will (preferably) take place through Discord. Buddy system participants will be emailed a guide to Discord (written by our fellow mod bucky), and these instructions are also posted on the general kissfanxing server. If, for any reason, a participant is unable to use Discord, we are willing to make accommodations (see below). Please don’t let Discord deter you from signing up from the buddy system. The buddy system is fluid because we want to make work for everyone; as such, we’d be willing to offer assistance in any way that we can.

From there, the buddy system becomes pretty flexible. The role of the squad leader is to act as a companion throughout the kissfanxing journey, which can take many forms - being a beta, an advice-giver, an idea-bouncer, etc. It can really be anything the participant wants. The primary goal is just to provide a method of support whenever a participant needs it, as the mods are aware of how taxing it can be to produce fanwork. Additionally, the participant can choose to communicate with other members of their squad via the squad channel, as well as other kissfanxing participants via our general server! We’re really aiming to create a network of support for those who need or want it, and we hope participating in the buddy system will ultimately be a rewarding experience for everyone.

➵ How do I choose the mod that’s right for me?

Mod profiles will be posted below this section of the info post so that you can become better acquainted with the mods. As each of the four mods generally specialize in different genres/areas, we hope that, after reading those, you can choose the mod(s) that would be the best fit for you.

While we try to honor all requests as best as we can, please note that “squad” designation is ultimately up to the mods’ discretion; we want to try to make the numbers as even as possible across the four mods so that no mod has an unbalanced load of participants to be responsible for. As a result, we encourage you to list more than one mod that you’d be comfortable being paired up with on the sign-up form.

➵ This all sounds great! How do I join the buddy system?

You can start by checking out the mod profiles listed below this part of the info post so you can see which mods would be the best fit for you. After that, fill out the the buddy system sign-up form with all of the appropriate details. You will receive a confirmation email within a few days with further information regarding the squad you’ve been placed into and detailed instructions on how to sign up for Discord and be added to the kissfanxing server. From there, you will be added into a specific channel for your squad leader, and you can be added into other channels from there as well.

➵ Some final notes:

➺ There is no closing deadline to join the buddy system. Buddy system signups will be open all the way up to the submission deadline of February 7th, and participants can join at any point up until then.

➺ It is possible to join the buddy system/the kissfanxing Discord without being paired up with a specific mod - just let us know in the appropriate section on the form, and we can help you get set up with being added to the general kissfanxing server.

➺ The buddy system is entirely optional, you can still participate in kissfanxing without participating in the buddy system. However, it should be mentioned that those not participating in the buddy system will have to fill out a check-in form in early January - the idea is that buddy system participants are in somewhat constant contact with the mods, therefore forgoing the need for a formal check-in. (So, if you wanna kill two birds with one stone, all the more reason to sign up for the buddy system!)

➺ The mods reserve the right to remove anyone from any Discord server/channel at any time for any reason.

➺ The use of Discord is not mandatory to be a part of the buddy system. Though, for organizational purposes, we would prefer having everyone on the Discord server, we are willing to make accommodations for those who cannot access/figure out Discord (ex. through Twitter DMs, Tumblr, KKT/Line/WeChat, etc.) Again, please don’t let Discord deter you from signing up for the buddy system; we’re here to help you, not confuse you further.
