And it's just that since Louis is the one who narrates his past in addition to Claudia's diaries, Lestat's love for Claudia cannot be appreciated.
Yeah well, it's filtered through Louis "presenting Lestat as a monster" (to paraphrase Jacob here). Yes, I do think he loved her like in the books.
@virginiaisforvampires put it very well quite a while ago, and I agree with that post - we actually got all the little hints, but the tale has been directed, for an effect, a reason.
That effect/reason will become clear in s2, and then a lot of what we have seen will seem in another light as well.
