One Villainous Scene - “I Coveted That Wind I Suppose”
“Oh boy. Izunia is making a second OVS about Ganondorf.” Yes, I am… however I am going to be looking at the man, the myth, the One Shot Wonder himself, Wind Waker Ganondorf. Now this guy is considered one of the top 5 incarnations of the King of Evil for a few reasons; the design, Takashi Nagasako returning to voice him, the boss fight, but the main reason was a little unexpected addition to his character.
To explain, Wind Waker is set in a world where Hyrule got flooded under the ocean because Ganondorf was TOO close to winning, and there was no hero to stop him, in other words divine intervention happened. So, throughout the course of the game, Ganondorf searches for the other 2 pieces of the Triforce once again, starting with a 100 year wait for Princess Zelda to reincarnate, and after 100 years have passed he kidnaps literally any blonde girl with pointy ears, checking to see if they have the Triforce of Wisdom. And one of these girls was Link's sister, Aryll, meaning that this man just put this incarnation of The Hero, one who originally wasn't mean't to be in this destined bullshit, hot on his trial.
Throughout the course of the game Link has only seen a snip of him at the beginning, the damage he caused to Greatfish Isle, Phantom Ganons, and finally he sees the man himself at the Foresaken Fortress and gets saved by Tetra, Valoo, and King Daphnes. Then Link discovers that Tetra is in fact Princess Zelda, and a good long hours later Ganondorf gets ahold of her, and now our hero has to face this monster, only for the player and Link to see another end of him.
Ganondorf explains a part of his background, talking about the cruel and harsh desert that he grew up in and how he envied the grasslands of Hyrule, but never intended on having it all be buried underwater. If anyone has played Ocarina of Time, they know that he's half-lying out of his ass because yes, he did come from a brutal and harsh desert, but he was also an infamous king there, one who had great ambitions and sat in a tower built in Central Hyrule while everyone else suffered. In other words, this man is lying out of his ass, but it isn't in an attempt to manipulate Link... it's an attempt to convince himself that all of the destruction he's caused, all of the evil he's wrought, wasn't for nothing. Even someone who's never played OoT can tell that this is a selfish old relic who's committed a lot of horrors in the past and has convinced himself that they're all just. And even then, you can tell that he never actually desired destruction for the hell of it and carries regrets.
He then knocks Link out and unifies the Triforce, chuckling out of glee at the fact that he FINALLY is going to succeed, that his efforts won't be in vain, but then it's literally robbed from him when Daphnes touches it and wishes for Hyrule to drown for the future of Link, Zelda, and everyone else. This causes Ganondorf to have a full on breakdown, cackling hysterically as he realizes that everything he has ever done has been for nothing. His efforts to acquire the Triforce, his battle against the previous hero, and his current efforts to bring back Hyrule were all for nothing. He's a destructive being who's doomed to fail and he realizes it now, but he isn't going to lie down and be forgotten by this world, so he tries to kill Link and Tetra, only to be stabbed in the skull. At this point, he can't escape the inevitable and he knows it, so there's no cursing Link and Tetra, no swearing that he'll come back. He just dies.
In short, Ganondorf here is still a bastard, but he is a walking tragedy in this game due to his pathos. He's a man who wants to convince himself that everything he's done was worth it, a man who doesn't want to be forgotten by the tides of time, a man who wants to bring back a dead land and stop being the lord of a dead empire. Yet in the end, he realizes that all of his efforts were indeed for nothing, and he ends up dying inside of a drowned Hyrule, destined to be forgotten. You can’t help but pity him this time.

i'm watching the Wind Waker dub and finally came to the scene where Tetra's identity is revealed and i'm just. so angry about it. they lightened her skin, they took away her pirate clothes, they even changed her personality???? what's worse (no offense to the dub actress, she did her job very well) is that Tetra's voice changes as well, becoming all soft and ultra-feminine!! and then after, her movements are more graceful and dainty all of a sudden. it's like she became a completely different character!
this is the opposite of what happened to Princess Peach in the Mario movie. Peach is supposed to be stereotypically feminine and soft-spoken and demure, while Tetra is the one who is brash and tomboyish and tough! smh this is a prime example of "blorbo would NOT say/do that", and it's frustrating how it's the very creators themselves mischaracterizing these women.
anyways i paused my WW watch and i'm currently re-writing the reveal scene so that it's more in-character and Tetra's decision to stay and protect the Triforce of Wisdom is more believable. anyone who interacts with this post will be tagged when i post it :)

Tetra only has faint memories of her father. The few she has are fond, but not many. She remembers large hands, a voice like thunder, and hair like fire. She remembers feeling loved and safe. Remembers being confused when he suddenly wasn’t there anymore.
When she suddenly finds herself held aloft by her throat, by a man with hair like fire and a voice like thunder, she recognizes both her enemy and her father.
------
Ganondorf knows the child the moment he lays eyes upon her. Even without Wisdom glowing upon her hand, he'd know her anywhere, for the way her spirit burns as brightly as Din's fires, mirroring his own.
She carries both the blood of Hyrule's royalty and the Gerudo in her. And though he knows he shouldn't, he cannot stop himself from caring for this small child, the way he cared for her sisters who are now long gone.
@luimagines @pinkittwice hey Pinky, come get your Ganon-dad!

Other than ml, which fandoms are you wanting to make fics off or is ml so bad that it just irks you?
Oh man, I would love to delve into other fandoms! I'm reaching that point too. Like, Copycat for sure I want to finish, but I got other ideas I want to do. Just need to have my muse directed towards them and it doesn't always go that way.
But other fandoms, here are a misc. of fic ideas I got.
Digimon
F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C., an original idea of doing my own Digimon Adventures with 8 leads who are tied to the 8 crests. Set up is a game called FANTASTIC where players can be whoever they want to be and live their own life. Only issue is that the developer as stolen digimon data and put them in the game to act as "monsters" to slay, and an angry digimon corrupts the game. Everyone but 8 individuals get trapped there, and lucky for them, there are some friendly digimon willing to help them.
Fire Emblem
Jeralt the Softie, FE3H idea where Jeralt winds up adopting a couple of other kids, because Byleth finds them and adopts them. And he winds up with one kid from each of the Three Houses (Leonie, Felix, and Bernadetta). Follow the Shadow (working title), FEA divergence where instead of deciding to blindly follow Chrom, Robin turns her sights to Plegia, desiring to uncover her past and explore her culture of origin.
Legend of Zelda
Barrel Right In, speed runners route where Link wakes and just insta follows the instructions to find the disembodied voice and facing Ganon as he is, semi naked, memoryless, and Master Swordless. Zelda wanted him to come to her as soon as possible but not like this. Descent to Hyrule, after Hylia brought piece to the land by defeating the malicious Demise, she settled herself upon a floating island to watch over Hyrule, and there, her descendants continued her observations. Zelda is the latest of that descendant, and has a dream of a choking boar faced smoke that promises to send the land aflame. Never quite given any instruction on what to do if Demise returns, Zelda descends to walk the land they've never walked, to embrace the role of defeating her ancient spiritual foe. But she does need to try and survive a land she doesn't quite know. Little Sun Prince, as foretold that the Gerudo King would arise to lay waste to Hyrule, the King initiated the attack to secure Hyrule's future peace, to strike the young King down while he was still a youth. It doesn't go as planned when a rebellious Sheikah spirits off the king, intending to take him back to his homeland. Wild Crown, when the King revealed that Tetra is actually "Zelda", instead of being accepting and quiet, Tetra rejects this declaration. She'll acknowledge that Zelda is her ancestor, but they are not one and the same. And she's not going to contently sit in this castle and wait for Link. She's going to be off to have her own adventure. Princesses of Twilight, instead of waiting for a Blue Eyed Beast, Midna helps break out Princess Zelda, and the two travel to find the means to combat the invader, Zant. Divergence Series, Long ago, it was said that the descendants of Hylia had a divine right to rule, this was long associated with the Nohansen Clan. But in recent years, the Bosphoramus Family had been able to wrangle rule from them, but have worked out engagements between the two to secure a shared divine and pure rule, often creating a daughter to embody Wisdom. But things don't always go as anticipated... A series that covers the 3 ideas below. In the Favor of Power, But soon to be king, Rhoam, had long since memorized the long history of Hyrule, took note of how the Gerudo always drew in the Triforce of Power and the ruling Prince, sought a war with them. Turning to the darkest of beings, Prince Rhoam decided it was high time to tempt the Triforce of Power to a ruling Hylian. His future daughter Zelda will be born with Power.  In the Grace of Wisdom, Iris Nohansen knew well how things worked, knew the history far better than most. She knew of the war and death to come, and wondered if she could prevent it. Instead of reaching her hand back to the current ruling Prince Rhoam, she turned her gaze to the golden sea, where a prince close in her age was just starting his rule. She was going to brave the impossible, and offer him her hand in hopes of avoiding the coming war with the Gerudo. Zelda is half Gerudo, Ganondorf is her father. In the Elevation of Courage, either Zelda with Triforce of Courage or Prince Link fic. Need to think on this one more.
Monster Hunter
Run (working title), inspired by Camp Cretaceous, a tragedy strikes an isolated village when a monster lays waste to it. A handful of teens/children survive, none of them knowing how to fight monsters and barely have an idea of how to travel around. If they're to survive, they must travel through the wilderness to reach the city where the hunters are, and hopeful, people that can help them. But they much reach it first in a ravenous world full of teeth and giants.
Avatar the Last Airbender
Moon's Pull and Ocean's Push (working title), Aang did die 100 years ago alongside the Air Nomads, which damaged the world and the avatar cycle. To a point that it took longer for the Avatar to be reborn, and when she was, she was born divided. Yue is the official new avatar, and while she is strong in spirit and sensitive to the Spirit World, she's weak in power. Katara was born with great power and could easily connect with people, but she was not the true Avatar, unable to bend anything else but water. Like La and Tui, they're drawn together, and together, they'll stop this war.
Smouldering Ashes, after the FN wiped out the AN, the world was swift to retaliate, and the FN was not ready for the rage of the EK coming after them. Present day, the FN isn't the dangerous and proud nation it was, they're now divided and struggling, majority trying to get by. Ozai, the Ashen Lord, is leading a rebellion to get FN back on top, and burn away the world. The Ashen Prince Zuko opted to try and stay out of the way and survive, but all that changes when he and Azula by chance come across the Avatar, sealed in an iceberg.

heeey <3 remember i talked abt making a fic for Fable? well here u goe Athena is Artemis btw I think Athena fits better
...favourite tag on ao3 for this fic is "Fable has blu hair to match Legend's ponk" and no i am not sorry for that one
Relationships: the zeldas, fable & ravio
ao3 link; x
Her brother started calling her ‘Fable’ in letters. He uses the name Legend, for now, which is sweet. But she didn’t know why…until today. Today, 9 different princesses had shown up at the castle doors, all sharing her name. Zelda. They’re all different reincarnations of her. “So you’re also a Zelda?” Fable nodded gently. “Yes..”It’s technically a half-lie. A half-lie is still a half-truth. She was born Link, and her brother was born Zelda. But, really, who needs to know? She's Zelda now. That’s all that matters. “Is…your Link still here?”One of them asked gently, tilting her head. “Um.”Fable paused, before shaking her head. “No…he left a few months ago…without warning, of course, but what’s new?”She sighed, frowning. Legend always leaves without telling her.. “I take it he does this a lot?” “Isn’t he your guard or something?”The short haired one frowned, confused. …Fable is pretty used to lying to cover up the fact she has a twin. She shouldn't be, she doesn't want to lie about it anymore, but she keeps doing it... 'It's protecting him,'She decided silently. 'He doesn't need anyone to know, so nobody can use it against me...or him.' “Yeah. He’s my guard But it’s fine, I can take care of myself.”Fable doesn't usually lie, but all she's done is lie today. She claimed her brother was simply her guard—she hopes he never finds out, he hates guards—instead of telling them they're family. She was only truthful about her role. The holder of the Triforce of Wisdom. Why can’t she tell them the truth? They don’t seem dangerous.. “You can fight?”Another smiled, her hand resting on a rapier. “Yeah. Link taught me. He…he’s rarely home…so we decided that I needed to know.” It’s not really a lie. Legend is never home, not even when he wants to be. But,,,he hadn’t made the decision to teach her. Fable had begged him to teach her, so he didn’t have to worry about her so much. …he probably worries anyway. Fable’s lying if she says she doesn’t worry about him, too. He’s never home. She wishes she would get to see her brother more often…it shouldn’t be a rare occasion. She’d been an only child up until age nine when all was revealed, and their parents subsequently disappeared after Legend returned. “They’re assholes.”Legend had declared. “Keeping one twin then leaving when the other twin returns.” She doesn’t blame him for thinking that way. They did make the poor decision to give up one of their twins at birth. It was cruel, she realises with reluctance. “Um,,well, what do I call you?”Fable coughed, looking at the group. “I’m Tetra.”One of them spoke up, her arms crossed, before introducing the others, pointing to them as she said their names. “That’s Athena, that’s Dawn, that’s Aurora—those two have the same Link by the way—, that’s Dot, that’s Dusk, that’s Lullaby, that’s Flora, and that’s Sun. What do we call you?” “Oh, well…Link’s been calling me Fable in letters..” “Fable it is!”Dot smiled brightly, looking around. “So, how old are you?”Flora hummed, looking at Fable. “Nineteen and a half.”Fable smiled, beginning to walk off. “Come with me. I have to get my things.” Fable headed up the stairs, occasionally listening to the others talk as they followed. “You seem to like blue and pink a lot.”Sun noted, a fond tone in her voice as Fable took them into a room. The room is where all important weapons and items are kept, and the door is painted blue and pink to represent both twins. Legend hangs the master sword on the wall with Fable’s sword when he doesn't need it. As Fable dismounted her sword from the wall, her eyes drifted over to the adjacent wall where the twins kept their rapiers. …Legend’s rapier is gone, he must’ve taken it with him, so she decided to take her’s as a precaution too. “This is an impressive room.”Tetra whistled. “What’s with the duplicate weapon stands though?” “Oh, ah. Link and I keep our weapons in the same place, that's all.” “He doesn’t…keep his stuff at home?” “That man is a hoarder, he’d lose his important items in his house.”Fable laughed softly. “It’s safer for him to keep them here.” “Is that why
the door is painted in two colours?”Dusk hummed, eyes skimming over the room. “Yep!”Fable giggled softly, grabbing her satchel and putting required items in it. She wonders if leaving with them will let her feel how Legend does…Legend refuses to talk about his adventures. Maybe she can get a taste of how her brother feels. Maybe then she can try and understand him. “Who’s gonna look after your kingdom when you’re gone?”Flora spoke up suddenly, and Fable paused. She could write a letter to Styla, but it takes three days to get to Hyrule from Hytopia, and she could write to Hilda, but Hilda has her own kingdom to repair. She can’t ask Impa—Impa is pretty old, and Fable doesn’t want to put extra pressure on an already pressured woman. … “Come with me.”Fable announced after she finished packing her bag. “I know a guy.” This is dumb. This is very dumb. Her last resort temporary-ruler…is Ravio. The bunny merchant who scammed his way into Legend’s home. And his heart too, if those looks are anything to go by..She mused, grinning slightly. She isn’t as oblivious as the two think. Shaking her head, the princess knocked on the door of her uncle’s home. Legend inherited the house after their uncle had passed, and he hasn’t changed the sign yet. She understands, though. See—Legend doesn’t grieve. Instead, he pretends that people he’s lost haven’t died, and have simply gone to sleep. ..it’s unhealthy, but Fable isn’t sure what’ll happen if all these deaths and losses finally set into Legend as fact. The door opened, and the familiar merchant let out a noise, quickly pulling his hood up. “Ms. Princess! How nice to see you! Come in, come in!” “I can’t stay, Ravio. I need to ask you a favour.” “Oh?” “I will be leaving the kingdom for an extended period of time. I’m not sure how long it’ll be for…and I don’t have anyone to look after the kingdom.” “O..kay?” “So, Ravio, will you look after the kingdom for me?” A pause. A long pause. “Okay!”Ravio smiled. “I’ll make sure Hyrule doesn’t pull a Lorule and fall apart!” Fable returned the smile, letting out a laugh before thanking him and leaving with her newfound companions.

@w1lmutt I know I just did part nine of the unedited v!Wind fic but I crave validation had most of this tenth part done already, so, here you go! *hands you thing*
<<First Part 9 Next>>
The sound of battle draws the heroes like lightning to uncovered metal.
This is the scene they stumble upon: Phantom, limp on the ground, and Tetra, standing over his body, one hand upon the assembled Triforce.
“Go away,” she orders, and for a moment the heroes think she’s talking to them. “We don’t need you anymore.”
Then the Triforce pulses, once, an acknowledgment.
It’s like the world freezes. Like the very air stills in their lungs as they realize the magnitude of what they’re witnessing.
In that endless heartbeat, there is only the girl, and the power at her fingertips.
“We’re going to create a new Hyrule,” Princess Zelda declares to the Triforce—to the gods themselves. “And we don’t need an eyesore like you around to do it.” Her hand clenches into a fist. “You can come back to us when it’s done, if you must. But until the new kingdom built, I want you gone. Disappear, somewhere so far away that not even Ganondorf’s remnants can reach you. That’s my wish.”
The Triforce glimmers, one final blaze of gold, before lifting gently into the sky. It splinters. The pieces separate, Power and Wisdom and Courage, flying up and up and up, fallen stars returning to the heavens.
With one last twinkle of divine light, it disappears.
(That light will not reach mortal eyes again for many generations to come.)
~o0o~
In the aftermath, Time approaches Tetra first. “What was that about?” He prompts, direct, as unfazed as ever.
Tetra side-eyes him thoughtfully, righteous indignation simmering down, before closing one eye in a wink.
"Just Link being an idiot. He doesn't seem to realize," and here her words turn acidic, clearly directed at the dazed boy just beginning to sit up in the sand, "That I can just ask my first mate exactly how long I've been out for."
"Actually-" Phantom starts. Stops. Springs to his feet, sudden, eyes wide as saucers. "Oh shit, the pirates," he breathes, with no small amount of horror.
"What is it? What have you done now?" Tetra demands, the only one more exasperated than worried.
"I, uh..." Phantom backs away as subtly as he can manage, which is not very. "I kind of... forgot them in the cave?"
"The... cave.”
Phantom looks down at his feet. "...On the other side of the island?"
“Might this be the same place you mention had a way off Outset Island?”
The boy nods meekly. “I was using the ship for that,” he croaks.
“The same ship the monsters tried to lead us to?”
Phantom digs his toe in the sand.
With mix of amusement and bone-deep weariness, Time asks, "And might there be monsters in this cave of yours?"
"I'm sure they're fine," Phantom mutters in a tiny voice, hunching in on himself. "They can take care of themselves."
Tetra, who has been looking steadily closer to popping a blood vessel with every passing second, finally explodes. “YOU SUN-ADLED LAND-LUBBING CHUCHU-BRAINED MORON! What are you waiting for?! Go! Get! Them! NOW!”
~o0o~
“I got this,” Phantom assures them all as they stop before the edge of the cliff. He gives a testing swing of his sword and, finding it now too heavy to comfortably wield, fixes on a pair of power bracelets with a small dissatisfied noise. His second swing is much smoother.
Hewn into the stone of the cliff are crude platforms of wood, forming a path down to sea level. Patrolling the narrow walkways between those platforms are flocks of Kangarocs and curious little one-eyed creatures the two natives call “Miniblins.” According to Phantom, this is the only way to get to their destination by foot.
“We’re all experienced fighters, you know. We could help,” someone points out. Phantom snorts.
“I’ll keep that in mind if I think there’ll actually be a fight,” he says cockily, bringing his sword up to rest on one shoulder. “But for now, I got this.”
It would be more convincing if Phantom didn’t still have bruises on his face and scrapes on his hands. If there weren’t a paper-thin quality to the boy’s bravado. If it didn’t seem like he needed this on some level—this reminder that he was still capable, still powerful in his own right.
No one’s quite comfortable letting the teen throw himself at the monsters alone. But Time nods his assent, and the rest of them follow his lead, even Tetra.
Their agreement secured, Phantom proceeds to stalk down the planks in a disturbingly Ganondorf-like manner.
Before the incredulous eyes of their onlookers, the monsters scramble to get out of the boy’s way, clawing their way up the sheer rock or hopping down to the paths below, only to panic anew when Phantom reaches their level in his continued descent. A not insignificant number of the creatures just dive right into the ocean below, choosing to take their chances in the waves rather than before what is clearly the second coming of the apocalypse in Hylian form.
“...Think he could do that with monsters from other time periods?” Legend asks into the stunned silence.
“Fifty rupees says no,” Warriors quips back.
“You’re on.”
“Are you guys coming or not?” Phantom calls back from the first large platform, tapping his foot impatiently. The group trails down after him, picking their way cautiously—not all of them are quite so capable of flight, after all. Their guide waits for them to catch up, counting heads like a comically short school teacher making sure her students are all there, before he starts off again, terrorizing the monster anew.
It would be a more intimidating display, they all think, if Phantom didn’t cower whenever Tetra got too close like a child with an angry parent, or do his damnedest to keep at least one person between them at all times.
(Oddly enough, the shield he hides behind most often is Twilight. Phantom’s reasons for this are simple:
1) He’s tall
2) He’s usually the closest
3) He’s the most willing—in Phantom’s eyes—to murder a man in his sleep given sufficient reason, and therefore clearly the most dangerous of the lot.
All of this, unfortunately for Phantom, rather ignores the fact that Twilight will happily throw him to the wolves at far less prompting than a nasty look or two from Tetra.)
“So what exactly are we walking into?” Someone finally asks Phantom. “It’s been nearly two days since the curse was lifted. Are you sure these pirates will still be where you left them?”
Phantom huffs at the questioning. “They’ll be there. Jabun’s Cave only has one entrance, and they wouldn’t have been able to open the doors.” He nods down at the bottom of the path. Floating on the sea’s surface and anchored to the stone cliffs, the largest platform yet awaits them. A pair of enormous doors open onto that platform—shoddy things, little more than massive slabs of wood lashed together haphazardly, but more than big enough to give a crew of Hylians difficulty. There are gaps in the uneven planking, some big enough for a child to squeeze through, but nothing that could accommodate a boat; anyone who escaped would have nowhere to go but up.
Legend whistles slowly, as if impressed by the sheer level of the fuck-up he's witnessing. "Are you telling me you left these guys trapped for two days in a cave filled with monsters? I thought you were friendly with these pirates."
Phantom not-so-discretely steps to put another person between him and Tetra, shoulders hunching defensively. "They'll be fine," he insists. "There's enough provisions on the ship to last anyone a few weeks, and the monsters know better than... to..."
Phantom trails off with a frown as they approach the final landing. There are a great many Kangarocs dotting the cliffs around the door—too many. They prefer to nest inside; they should be tending to their young in the cave, not crowding each other off perches in the open air.
"Something's wrong," he concludes, and readies his sword.

Naiad of the Brook | Ford Pines x Reader |
The Gravity Falls air is crisp and sweet in Stanford Pines’ throat, the breeze a little more insistent against his back as he trudges through foliage in his battered old boots. Crickets chirp their midnight song, hidden within tall grass and fallen summer leaves, perfectly camouflaged amongst nature’s vibrant beauty and the pressing darkness of night. He carries on, twigs snapping atop life-filled soil, until he parts the curtains of overhanging branches, clearing the way to the nearby babbling brook.
The moon lights up the path to the stream, slightly raised stones with cracks stuffed with wet, clambering moss and daisies peeking through strands of dewdrop-laden grass. The brook is something out of a fairy tale each time Ford visits, red toadstools clustered near the trunks of towering trees, forming circles, stones with curved ancient runes that foretell long dead prophecies and a crumbling throne of rock, vines of ivy entangled throughout its struggling foundations, though he supposes he should be used to this kind of thing by now. He settles one knee at the edge of the water, shifting his glasses further up his defined nose, and plunges one six-fingered hand into the shallow current, collecting a decent handful of sparkling pebbles. Picking a near perfectly flat stone, he skips it with well-practised precision across the calm surface of the water and waits patiently.
The ripples travel gracefully across the gentle stream, and from them a pair of yellow eyes blink slowly, pupils slitted as they stare up at him. From the water you rise, hair clinging to your skin, the thin white chiffon of your gown just barely covering your cleavage.
“Stanford,” you greet him with a smile, raking a delicate hand through your wet hair.
“Naiad of the brook,” he nods formally, making you scoff.
“I don’t know why I ever expect you to speak to me as though I am your friend, Stanford. You’ve known me long enough to call me (Name).”
“Formality is a reflex, dear,” Ford chuckles, “you never know when a nymph might bite your head off, it’s best to be cautious.”
“And do I look like a nymph that does that sort of thing?”
“I’d prefer not to answer that.”
You let out a playfully offended cry and flick water at him, scrunching up your nose and scowling at him. It doesn’t take long for you both to begin to update one another on your lives – you learn of his many recent adventures since exiting the portal, and his great niece and nephew, both of which you take a mental note to pay closer attention to, and you rant about the nearby ash tree nymphs, with their wildness and how they enjoy to tease the manotaurs closer to your sacred grounds just to annoy you. Ford laughs as you describe having to beat away one of the curious brutes with promises of a curse upon his whole tribe and a piece of driftwood.
“Honestly, Stanford, if there’s one thing I wish never existed it’d have to be those damn horny cretins!” you groan, fiddling with a particularly pretty pebble.
“If you’ve got a manotaur problem on your hands, (Name), you could always come to Dipper and I. He’s becoming quite the anomaly hunter, I dare say,” he offers, a proud waver in his low voice. You assure him you will, before letting a still, comfortable silence fill the air.
Silences with Ford are always rather peaceful, simply basking in one another’s presence and listening to nature’s symphony. The frogs croak their happy melodies, nested inside a cool, damp log, and the breeze rustles through leaves and branches like a twirling ballerina, prancing across a stage. You look up to the moon, half of her pale face protected by a lacy fan of shadow and night, her entourage of glittering stars dancing around her. It makes you wonder when you will join her hall of ballroom dancers, still plagued by the soft grasp of youth, despite being near a century old. You’re jealous of Ford in that way; his features match his wisdom; sharp, though aged beautifully, and you fear you will forever be painted as a rosy-cheeked young woman, with false promises of naivety and dumb innocence on your lips. The gods laugh at your fruitless longing for mortality.
“(Name).”
The low timbre of his voice drags you from your thoughts as you meet his gaze. His dark eyes are blown behind his lenses, one cracked with, no doubt, a decent story to go along with it. He reaches out, his large hand tucking your hair behind your pointed ear.
“Yes?”
There’s a flustered blush at the tips of Ford’s ears and he averts his eyes, instead focusing on a tiny neon tetra and the rest of its school, swimming along with the current. He finally clears his throat and turns to you again.
There’s a moment where you’re both completely still. He struggles, bringing his hand to run through his hair. You can no longer handle the tension, the horrid feeling seeping in through your cold skin and nibbling at your squirming insides.
You grab his raised hand, pressing your palm to his. Your touch is firm, reassuring, and after a moment he clasps his larger hand around yours, holding it with such sincerity that your heart struggles behind your reed-entangled ribcage.
But then the hesitation is back, and Ford looks troubled. His wrinkles deepen and he looks away again, removing his warm hand from yours. The sudden rejection takes a seat in your heart and mind, its burden heavy already.
“I must be going,” he states gruffly. He only receives a nod from you, your throat too preoccupied with a lump, preventing a witty or teasing remark from escaping you.
He leaves, his footprints in the soft soil a reminder of him, even as you climb further from the stream to slump into your ancient, decaying throne.
“What are you so afraid of?”
Your question hangs in the cold air, left unanswered for another visit from Stanford Pines.

http://www.zeldainformer.com/the_entirely_valid_completely_believable_theory_of_a_tetraforce/
In Zelda there is a theory called the tetraforce theory.
The triforce is made up of three yellow triangles. The three triangles represent wisdom, power, and courage. The Hylian Shield in Ocarina of Time, however, has a fourth triangle below the triforce symbol. THe shield is illustrated above. It was hypothesized that this fourth triangle was the fourth force in the triforce. We see, thereby, the quaternity principal at play. The three is becoming four, or at least there is a different fourth component that does not seem to belong.
The number four is significant in Zelda. The prominence of the number four in Zelda leads “tetraforce conspirators” to believe that there is a fourth part of the triforce.

The Assassin's Creed poster shows the assasin in cruciform.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4X
The term "4X" originates from a 1993 preview of Master of Orion in Computer Gaming World by Alan Emrich, in which he rated the game "XXXX" as a pun on the XXX rating for pornography. The four Xs were an abbreviation for "EXplore, EXpand, EXploit and EXterminate".[1]
Explore means players send scouts across a map to reveal surrounding territories.
Exploit means players gather and use resources in areas they control, and improve the efficiency of that usage.
Expand means players claim new territory by creating new settlements, or sometimes by extending the influence of existing settlements.
Exterminate means attacking and eliminating rival players. Since in some games all territory is eventually claimed, eliminating a rival's presence may be the only way to achieve further expansion.

THE POSITIVE & NEGATIVE; Mun & Muse - Meme.
Tumblr media
fill out & repost ♥ This meme definitely favors canons more, but I hope OC’s still can make it somehow work with their own lore, and lil’ fandom of friends & mutuals. Multi-Muses pick the muse you are the most invested in atm.
My muse is:   canon / oc / au / canon-divergent / fandomless /
Is your character popular in the fandom?  YES / NO / IDK. For sure, for being the cutest of cutes!! All Zeldas are cute though but she was the blueprint ;v;
Is your character considered hot™ in the fandom?  YES / NO / IDK. I’m a devout christian virgin I would never ever look at those kind of topics the only hot I see is the flames of hell for even considering this smh smh bUT NO FOR REAL THO I’M NOT REALLY SURE???? I mostly see people gushing over how cute she is rather than hot.
Is your character considered strong in the fandom?  YES / NO / In some aspects. We don’t really see Skyward Sword Zelda’s abilities in the games as we did in, say, BOTW where she goes full goddess mode. Aside from blessing the master sword, sealing herself away, and the implications that the game gives us with Zelda being not only a student at the knight school but also a badass warrior goddess in her past life; I’d say she’s pretty up there in terms of strength.
Are they underrated?  YES / NO. GONNA GO WITH YES AND NO ON THIS. As a character, Zelda is far from underrated she’s actually cliche blonde character we all love and stan but in this incarnation.... also yes and no because while I see a lot of people like SS Zelda keep in mind that SS is the black sheep of the series so not a lot of people have good opinions on it. I’ve seen some say she’s annoying, too shoujo or even Mary Sue at some points and hweoh we all know that the last one ain’t even close to true since she’s far from bland and OP written. But it’s all a matter of perspective!
Were they relevant for the main story?  YES / NO.
Were they relevant for the main character? YES / NO /
Are they widely known in their world?  YES / NO.
How’s their reputation?  GOOD / BAD / NEUTRAL / FOR THE MOST PART, if we were talking verses like say witch verse she’d have more of a neutral reputation considering witches aren’t really well-liked ;-;
How strictly do you follow canon?
I try to do the best that I can do given with what we’re working with here all while adding my own spin to her characterization because we all have different perspective when it comes to art! How I see Zelda is someone who’s bubbly, playful (big ol bully hweoh), a bit of a busybody if she feels she needs to step in due to worrywart tendencies yet highly responsible and carries a wisdom that’s beyond her age, she doesn’t like seeing people bullying others and isn’t afraid to put her foot down to speak her mind if something is up. While kindness is sorta her strong suit I wanted to go beyond “nice girl” and just showcase other sides of her too, hence why main verse is typically set during the events of SS because here we see her growth into the girl we see at the end of the game where she’s melancholic of her past but is looking forward to seeing what the future holds and wants to build a brighter tomorrow with Link by her side along with friends and loved ones. I’m not at all confident in playing as her, despite playing as Zelda since 2017 haha!! So I can’t really say that I’m super strict in following canon considering that’s how I view the character through the actions and dialogue throughout the game, perhaps the creators had something different in mind than how I see Sky Zelda.
SELL YOUR MUSE! Aka try to list everything, which makes your muse interesting in your opinion to make them spicy for your mutuals.
DO YOU LIKE WHOLESOME GIRLS?! Wait no, hold on, that’s a little too vague, so let’s try that again. Do you like wholesome genki girls who were once a god who fought in a war in their past life? How about pastel girls who may seem sweet but are deep down bullies towards loved ones? Are you at a point in your life where you find yourself wondering: where on earth can I find someone who’s ray of sunshine can brighten up my day. Will do I have good news for you buddy! Introducing your very own friend: Zelda from hit series Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. This Zelda is more extreme than the others due to the fact that she’s not a princess, that’s right no princess titles clogging up that beautiful name. Just a knight who somehow finds out she’s actually a goddess reborn as human, no biggie!
Now the OPPOSITE, list everything why your muse could not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom perhaps think?)
SHOUJO PROTAG WHO’S TOO FREAKING CUTE!! So.... if that’s not your cup of tea ;v; but nah I can see people not liking Zelda because not everyone like the nice girl who’s your childhood friend characrter, I totally get it but if you dig a little deeper you see that there’s more to it than that.
What inspired you to rp your muse?
My close friend was FINALLY getting into the LOZ series back when BOTW was first coming out, her playthrough of SS made me remember how much I loved each characters and honestly Zelda’s design in that game was always my fav right next to Tetra and ALTTP/ALBW! At the time I mostly played more introverted muses or straight up villains and I wanted to try my hand at playing more wholesome characters like Sky Zel and ALTTP Zel ;v; now look at me, the CEO of wholesome cute girls ;v;
What keeps your inspiration going?
Motivation and time at this point, I’m not the young starry-eyed rper who used to have playlists and replay things to keep up with canon. I just pray to god I’m doing ok, let jesus take the wheel and just sorta do my own thing. I think having fun threads or a friendship with partners or just good vibes from them def helps a whole lot.
Some more personal questions for the mun.
Give your mutuals some insight about the way you are in some matters, which could lead them to get more comfortable with you or perhaps not.
Do you think you give your character justice?  YES / NO.
Do you frequently write headcanons?  YES / NO. SORTA KINDA NOT AS MUCH AS I DO WITH ALTTP ZEL BECAUSE I’M ALWAYS NERVOUS THAT I MIGHT LIKE BREAK THE CANON OR ZEL’S CHARACTER!!
Do you sometimes write drabbles?  YES / NO.
Do you think a lot about your Muse during the day?  YES / NO.
Are you confident in your portrayal?   YES / NO.
Are you confident in your writing?  YES / NO / Most of the time!
Are you a sensitive person?  YES / NO. I mean, that’s a trick question because I can be sensitive in picking up tones and reading between the lines but like if you mean if someone says something mean than no not anymore at least, I’m too old to care about what people say about me or think about me.
Do you accept criticism well about your portrayal?
YE! I do! I mean we’re all improving and junk so I see no issues with criticisms uvub I always worry about whether or not you can hear different voices within the characters I rp as among writing issues I have that comes with learning disability and ADD, I try my hardest but I know at the end of the day there will always be grammar mistakes and even spelling!
Do you like questions, which help you explore your character?
YES YES YES!! OMG YES!! I TAKE WHATEVER QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE AND JUST... WORD VOMIT BACK SEVEN PAGE ESSAY SOMETIMES ;V;
If someone disagrees to a headcanon of yours, do you want to know why?
Eh, well yeah it’d be nice honestly to hear feedbacks and thoughts. Just saying ‘I don’t like this or I don’t agree with this’ doesn’t really help anyone who wants to improve but I’m not gonna like press them for it either because again I’m at the stage in my life where I’m just like ‘it is what it is’.
If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it?
Shrug emoji, and then move on! Again it’d be nice if they can tell me though but I won’t press them for it if they don’t feel like it. We’re allowed to have our opinions after all yo!
If someone really hates your character, how do you take it?
It is illegal to hate sky zel or any Zel really... NAH JK I DON’T REALLY CARE I’ve liked characters who aren’t popular among the fandom, I’m more or less used to seeing character bashing for faves so like it doesn’t really affect me at all I’m just like “lol” and move on.
Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors?
YES! Though keep in mind, despite me using Grey instead of Gray, I use US English ;v; so keep that in mind when spotting out certain words other parts of the world may spell differently because us US Americans just..... gotta be extra like that.
Do you think you are easy going as a mun?
I TRY!!! IDK IF I COME ACROSS AS THAT but I’m very much someone who goes with the flow anyway, I’ve been told that much IRL and I’m just hweoh not really someone who’s a stick in the mud or has a stick up their ass, you know? I’m pretty laid back and not much bothers me, I can get petty if I have to come across rude people that’s the one thing that kills it for me but aside from that, I just wanna try to get along with people. We don’t have to be friends if you’re not feeling the vibes but friendly terms is good enough for me!
That’s about it, congrats for filling out!

Smash Musings - Echo Fighters (for the future)
I suppose I’ve been wanting to theorize what kind of Echo Fighters could be made for future Super Smash Bros. titles. So here’s a few ideas!
3E: Champion Link Gets Wild! (Link) Yeah, if the next main Link is more traditional, I could see the Champion Link that we have in Ultimate being repurposed as that Link’s Echo Fighter.
10E: Ninten Raises His Voice! (Ness) Seems like an obvious one for Ness. I’ll just list some of the most notable changes that Ninten could have from Ness’s kit. - Replace PK Flash with PK Freeze (since EarthBound Beginnings doesn’t have PK Flash). - Final Smash: PK Beam Gamma
16E: Impa Arrives From The Shadows! (Sheik) Probably the easiest one to do for the Legend of Zelda group. Impa’s a Sheikah, Sheik modeled herself after the Sheikah - it works! - Impa might be a little taller, which could affect hurtboxes and attack range a bit.
30E: Wario Deluxe Goes For The Gold! (Wario) Okay, this is just my super-crazy idea. Think of this as the Giga Bowser or Giga Man treatment, but balanced down to normal playable levels. - Elemental attributes to certain attacks (i.e. Wario Waft becomes an explosion attack). - Final Smash sends him to the Wario Deluxe balloon in the background to fire lightning (like Zero Suit Samus’s Zero Laser).
32E: Hector Drops The Axe! (Ike) Eh, it’s a common want that I’ve seen. And if Lucina and Chrom taught us anything about the Fire Emblem group, the usual Echo Fighter rules are looser here. So... - Wields Armads, which has a wider hitbox than Ike’s Ragnell. Attacks are generally a little stronger but slower, as a result. - Some attacks are electric-based, including the neutral special. - Up special operates more like Roy’s Blazer.
37E: Claus Shocks The Competition! (Lucas) Maybe less likely than Ninten, but fun to think about. - Side smash uses his sword. It can’t reflect, but it’s much stronger. - Replace PK Freeze with PK Flash. - PK Thunder is more potent. - Final Smash could be his big lightning attack.
38E: Shadow Warps In! (Sonic) Again, a common one. But I figured out how to make him work. - Doesn’t have any classic sound effects. - Different running animation (rocket-skating). - Most normal attacks disrupt space to increase power and range, but are slightly slower as a result. - Down air attack doesn’t dive down. Instead, it’s a quick jab kick with a chance to meteor smash. - Up special is Chaos Nightmare, launching himself upward with a spatial explosion at his feet. This explosion can also launch nearby foes. - Final Smash uses Chaos Control to slow foes near himself, and then unleashes a Chaos Blast.
43E: Tetra Sets Sail! (Toon Link) Another unlikely one, but I figure this could work like so. - No shield. - Moves faster. - Grab uses Grappling Hook instead of Hookshot. Slightly more reach, but also slower. - Neutral special uses Light Arrow. Can be charged longer than Toon Link’s Hero’s Bow to launch an arrow farther and harder. - Final Smash turns her into Toon Zelda to use Triforce of Wisdom.
57E: Malos Goes Hyper! (Shulk) Some have considered it, given similarities he and his weapon have to Shulk and his Monado. Here’s my take. - Neutral special uses Hyper Monado Arts. They don’t last as long as Shulk’s Mnado Arts, but are more extreme in benefits (and downsides). - Down special is Monado Eater. It’s not a counter - rather, it’s a chargeable AOE attack that can deal heavy shield damage. - Final Smash summons Artifice Ophion to blast foes.
63E: Jeanne Gives One For All! (Bayonetta) An obvious pick. I had trouble figuring her differences, since Echo Fighters apparently must have the same weight as their templates (so I couldn’t do her greater vulnerability to damage like that). But, I think I’ve cracked it. - Smash attacks deal more damage, but are slower and have less launch power. - Heel Slide, After Burner Kick, and Witch Twist use the sword Bloody Moon. While this improves their damage output and hitbox, they don’t use Bullet Arts. - Instead of Witch Time, her down special uses Evil Harvest Rosary. If she successfully evades an attack, she’ll set off a dark burst, acting more like a general counter special. - Her version of Infernal Climax doesn’t have as much time, nor does it require as many hits. However, the Infernal she summons deals a lot more damage than Bayonetta’s Gomorrah does.
64E: Octoling Paints The Battlefield! (Inkling) Yup, we’re expecting this one, too. - Octolings’ costumes use different colors from the Inklings’. - Smash attacks use Octobrush, Range Blaster, and Bloblobber. They have bigger hitboxes, but cost more ink to use. - Side special uses Splat Brella to fire the umbrella head forth as a mobile shield. - Final Smash uses Tenta-Missiles, firing them toward wherever the reticle is.

The Pirate Prince Chapter 11
The Pirate Prince
Chapter 11: Ole Tidings
Everything was hazy. He did not know how long he had been walking, how long he had been searching for her. He had to find her, and he had to find her soon, he didn’t know what to do. She had always been there for him, even when he wasn’t there for himself. The water lapped at his feet. Tiredly, he looked down, the water was so cool, so welcoming. Slowly, he submerged himself into the water, the sweet breeze slowly lulled him to sleep.
His eyes snapped open.
Off in the distance, he could hear a poor soul screaming so loud that their voice no longer carried the tune. He exhaled and rose to his feet and headed towards the source of the sound.
Oh, what is the tune that giants sung and slept to?
TPP
Link could barely watch as the boat that held his sister went up in flames. Aryll had passed in the night, before Link could work up the courage to speak to her. Link looked to his left, Midna and Impa stood off to the side, Link couldn’t help but wish that one of them had taken Aryll’s place. Link looked down at the daggers in his hands, one was made of Gold and the other of Bronze. Typically, anyone who was amongst the Gerudo had their weapons with them when they were burned, however, Telma had placed them to one side when they were setting up Aryll’s boat. Link idly turned the bronze blade over in his hands, Aryll’s name was printed onto the blade in ancient Gerudo. Link then turned the other blade over and his breath caught in his throat. Along the golden blade was an inscription written in ancient Gerudo, much like the bronze blade, however, this blade held Link’s name instead of Aryll’s. The blades were made shortly after Link had left, so it couldn’t be an old inscription.
Link felt a lump form in his throat, which he swallowed and turned away from the flames. Link headed back to the ship. Tetra started following behind. Link had just reached the gang plank, when a massive roar caught his attention. Link and Tetra ran back to the pier, just in time to witness one of the great Colossi descend upon a small village that had been suffering from a plague. Link’s breath stilled in his throat when the Colossus opened its maw and unleashed a stream of fire upon the little village.
A few members of the crowd visibly flinched at the sight. When the flames died down, the colossus turned its head to face the Cove, making everyone go still. Before it made eye contact with Link.
‘Wake the spirits. Restore the blade.’
Those words suddenly echoed in Link’s head, before the Colossus turned and went in the opposite direction. Link was silent, only turning his head after Tetra touched his arm.
“Are you alright?” Tetra asked, her eyes searching Link’s expression.
Link’s tone of voice was quiet and chilled, “Dutour had a master. That same master has turned those beautiful creatures into monsters. That same master caused Aryll’s death.” Link took a breath, “Perhaps a visit to Hyrule is needed.”
Link then turned around and started barking orders to the assembled crew. Impa watched how Link had turned from a drunken, mourning wreck into a captain that commanded respect throughout the entire time he was speaking. Link then turned his chilling, wolf-like eyes onto Impa.
“There’s someone in Kakariko Village that can help with our growing problem, is there not?” Said Link, to which Impa nodded.
“Good,” Said Link, “Alright everyone get to the ship, we’re launching at dawn.”
Link then marched to the ship and up the gang plank and disappeared into the depths of the ship.
“Do you think his plan will work?” One crewman asked another.
“Finding a sword that can kill all evil and then using that sword to kill a guy who calls himself the Demon King?” The other replied, “It’s worked before with the other heroes, maybe we’ll find the hero in Kakariko.”
Impa quietly shook her head, silently looking back at Aryll’s boat and the burning village. Impa hoped that this was a battle they could win.
TPP
Link examined the sword in front of him, the Tri Force on the hilt and the leather wrapped handle and the long thin blade. The sword that had been gifted to him by the Gods had a permanent shine to it, as if it had just been polished. Link quietly looked at Pipit’s shield, making a mental note to give it back to the man when he recovered.
A quiet knock jarred Link from his musing.
“Come in.” Called Link, allowing the door to open and Tetra walking in, carrying two bowls of soup.
“Telma made soup, apparently it’s your favourite.” Said Tetra, placing a bowl down in front of the young man. She wasn’t wrong, Link remembered begging Telma almost on a daily basis for a bowl of the soup, it annoyed the woman so much, she taught Link and Aryll how to make it. Telma said that she got the recipe from an old Hylian Vai that lived in Mabe Village.
“How many people do you think were in that village?” Link quietly questioned, “How many children?”
Tetra was silent, before saying “Judging by the town size and the fact that the inhabitants were suffering from a plague, most likely brought on from Malice, I’d say fifty people, at least, a hundred at most.”
“It sometimes scares me how you’re able to work that out.” Said Link reaching for the spoon that had been supplied with the soup, “We’ll be heading for Kakariko Village as soon as we land in Lurelin, it’ll be a long journey, but it will be worth it, hopefully.”
Tetra was quiet, “We’re going to have to tell your crew who I am, how I know you so well, compared to the others.”
Link was quiet, slowly looking up at Tetra, before returning his gaze to his soup, “You’re right, the relationship that I have built with the crew was founded on trust and honesty, I’ll tell them first thing tomorrow morning, that’s a guaranteed time that the entire crew will be together.”
Tetra quiet, “I wonder how they will react to find that the Princess of Hyrule was hiding amongst them.”
Link only laughed and shook his head, neither noticed Midna standing outside the door.
TPP
Both blondes were quiet while Link ate his soup, Tetra looked over some of the maps that were under the sword, one of which was of the great Hyrule forest and the Lost Woods, another was of the Temple of Time, complete with the pedestal of Time from the era of the Hero of Time, another one was of the Sacred grove from the time of the Hero of Twilight and another of the basement of an ancient castle in Hyrule from the era of the Hero of Winds.
“What’re these?” Asked Tetra, twisting one of the maps so she could look at it properly.
“Maps of all the areas where the one weapon that could kill the bastard that took Aryll has ever been.” Said Link, setting his bowl down, “Every time a ‘demon king’ has appeared, this weapon has appeared and been used to strike back at it. I plan on finding it.”
Tetra was quiet, Link sighed, “I don’t expect you to help me with this, as it would kind of be encroaching on your family history.”
“Link, the Master Sword is a weapon shrouded in myth and legend, one the Goddesses chosen hero or one with the blood of the goddess can even find it, and no one is even sure about that.” Said Tetra, her hand going to the Tri Force pendent her father had given her.
“I know, the sword goes from place to place, no one knows where it is kept.” Said Link, running his hand through his hair.
“The sword is kept in the Temple of Heroes,” Said Tetra, “The same Temple that is a hot spot for Colossi appearances, so going through the front entrance would be suicide, however, there is another entrance, but you need to get the keys for that entrance, you already have one.”
Link quietly pulled out the pearl and rolled it around in his hands, the pearl had the mark of the Goddess Farore engraved into the surface of it, the same mark could be seen on the gem that was in the hilt of his new sword.
“So, I have to find more of these pearls.” Muttered Link, his eye looking over the pearl critically.
“Yes, two to be precise,” Said Tetra, “one for the Goddess of Wisdom and one for the Goddess of Power.”
“Nayru and Din.” Said Link, looking up at Tetra, who nodded.
Before the conversation could continue any further, Impa rushed into the room, locking the door behind her.
“We have a problem,” Said Impa, “Midna knows who Tetra really is and has told everyone.”
Link swore.
A/N: I wanted to get this up for Christmas and then for New Years but I got side tracked playing Breath of the Wild.

* * * * *
Zelda stood at the window of her bedroom as the sun set over the western mountains.
She looked down at Castle Town, watching the activity in the streets as people came and went. The roads were filled with travelers, as were the canals. The city’s population had grown steadily during the past ten years. Soon there would need to be wider roads, as well as another bridge, and the walls surrounding the city would have to come down to make room for new construction. In a way, Zelda mused, the damage caused by the riots may have been a blessing in disguise. Now there was finally an excuse to redesign the city’s layout, something she had been discussing with her counselors since her earliest forays into the administration of the kingdom.
Zelda crossed her arms over her chest. She was already laying out a timeline in her head as she assembled a list of priorities. It was good to have a moment to herself to do nothing but think in silence. She was usually forced to occupy herself with her clothing as soon as she returned to her private quarters, either to change into something formal for court or to extract herself from one of the gowns she felt obliged to wear, but at the moment she was comfortable as she was. After returning to the castle from the Temple of Time, she’d ordered that one of her riding outfits be tailored into a military uniform. She was pleased with the results. She looked good in pants and a jacket; it suited her. A princess carefully reviewed petitions and made subtle suggestions, but a queen commanded armies.
Zelda looked past the city and out to the hazy line of the far mountains that marked the border of Gerudo territory, remembering what Tetra had told her about the division of political power. “Delegate,” Tetra said, and that was exactly what Zelda intended to do.
At dawn she had stood on the balcony overlooking the front courtyard and delivered a speech to everyone in the castle, soldiers and invaders and guests and courtiers alike. She pardoned everyone who had participated in the riots and promised to use the royal family’s own funds to rebuild what had been damaged, but then she surprised everyone by proposing an equal council of territories. The monarchy had been in existence for so long that she had only the most nebulous ideas concerning how a republic would work, but she would have time to figure that out. Thankfully, she wouldn’t have to do it alone.
Zelda’s coronation ceremony was supposed to have begun an hour ago. Given the circumstances, plans had changed. Her father still hadn’t woken, so she had simply stepped in as the reigning monarch in his absence. She had thus become a queen without a grand ceremony. This was probably for the best, as resources were scare at the moment. At least the food prepared for the celebration hadn’t gone to waste.
Makar vanished back into the forest, and Darunia stayed with the king, but Ruto and Nabooru had remained at her side throughout the day. Impa had as well, for which Zelda was grateful. Link convinced Barghest to stand with her as she addressed the people who had invaded her city, and he was surprisingly civil as he accommodated her request. Zelda had to take care to treat him not as the former stablemaster but as the leader of a small army, but it was easier than she expected. She had been trained for such things, after all, and he cut an imposing figure.
She sent Ganondorf to negotiate with the Moblins and Lizalfos who had set up camp in the training grounds, asking him to convey her goodwill to them. It was convenient that Ganondorf could speak their language, and it was even more useful that they were willing to listen to him. As far as she could tell, no one in the camp said a word about Ganon, but she would have to monitor the situation. The irony of the faith she placed in Ganondorf not to take advantage of his position was not lost on her. She had made the decision to trust him when she allowed him to claim a piece of the Triforce, however, and she saw no reason to regret her judgment.
Zelda raised her hand to look at the golden triangle on her skin. She reflected on what Tetra said about how the Triforce had split before the flood. It was curious that she, the ostensible reincarnation of the avatar of divine wisdom, had ended up with the Triforce of Courage. Link had been granted the Triforce of Power, while the Triforce of Wisdom went to Ganondorf. This was a surprise to them all. She wondered if the Triforce had somehow chosen its bearers, or whether they chose for themselves, unconsciously asking for what they had wanted all along.
Perhaps one day she would have time to think back on all of this, but it was currently of utmost importance that she take action. Most of the visiting dignitaries would leave the castle soon, probably within the week, and Zelda was looking forward to setting out from the castle herself. Even if she hadn’t been properly crowned, it was the duty of a new queen to tour her kingdom. Or rather, if the talks during the next few days went well, it would be her duty as the provisional leader of Hyrule to make diplomatic visits to the various territories of the republic. Daphnes would stay here and recover, and she would have space to think about how to rebuild their relationship during her journey. He was her father, and she loved him, but she would never be able to forget what she had seen him do, all the while claiming that his actions were to save her.
Considering what had happened to her mother, Zelda was anxious about traveling to the desert. Still, she knew it would be politically exigent if that were the first place she visited. If nothing else, it would be an interesting experience to be a guest in Ganondorf’s court. It amused her to imagine him doing his best to be appropriately courteous and polite to her in public.
There was a knock at the door. Zelda was annoyed, thinking that it was still too early for anyone to come fetch her for the evening assembly, especially since she had specifically asked not to be disturbed. “Come in,” she said brusquely, making her irritation clear in her tone. As a princess, she had taken special care to be gracious and kind, but she was beyond such niceties now.
She waited for the door to open, but she couldn’t hear anything behind her. A moment later she realized how odd it was for someone to have knocked on the door to her bedroom instead of the main door to her quarters. Whoever was at the door had already passed through the rooms below without alerting her. Zelda was immediately on guard. She slowly withdrew a short blade from the inside of her sleeve and turned swiftly while flipping the knife into her hand.
She came face to face with Ganondorf. Her blade was almost touching his throat.
“Good evening to you too,” he said in a flat voice.
“My apologies.” Zelda withdrew the knife and placed it on her dressing table. “I thought perhaps you’d come to kill me.”
“That would be somewhat anticlimactic.”
“Perhaps it would, but it would also be more efficient to murder me in private.”
“Is that what you say to every man you invite into your bedroom?”
“I don’t recall inviting you,” Zelda replied. “Speaking of which, why are you here? I seem to remember asking for a report on the negotiations with Barghest, but surely that can wait.”
“I came because of a more pressing matter,” Ganondorf said, withdrawing a lacquer box from an inner pocket of his robes. He smiled as he offered it to her. “Happy birthday.”
Zelda was taken aback. It was indeed her twentieth birthday, but no one had mentioned it at any point during the day. This was understandable, Zelda reasoned, given the current state of the castle. In fact, she had almost forgotten it herself.
Since she didn’t move to take the box from him, Ganondorf placed it in her hands before lifting the lid to reveal two golden hairpins. They gleamed softly in the light of the setting sun.
“These belonged to my mother,” Ganondorf explained. “They were given to me on my own twentieth birthday, but I had no use for them. I used to wear my hair long like all Gerudo men, but that was the day I decided to break with tradition and cut it short. This is something of a secret, but I happen to know that these hairpins were originally given to my mother by your own. I thought you might like to have them. As a memento, of sorts. Of our mothers, and the friendship they allowed us to enjoy when we were younger.”
“They’re beautiful,” Zelda said, genuinely touched.
“Would you like to wear them?” Ganondorf asked.
Zelda nodded, closing the box and holding it to her chest as Ganondorf moved behind her. He carefully inserted the pins into the bun she wore, using them to tie the ends of her sidelocks back so that they framed her face like wings. He turned her toward her mirror and stood behind her with his hands on her shoulders.
“They look good on you,” he said. “They bring out the gold in your hair.”
Zelda met Ganondorf’s eyes in the mirror, assessing him. He seemed content and comfortable in her presence. She suspected that they wouldn’t have the opportunity to be alone together like this often, and she didn’t want to enter into the same sort of painful relationship that their mothers had struggled with for so many years. I need to break this off now, she resolved.
“I’ll accept this as a gift of friendship from the King of the Gerudo,” she said with a thin smile. “It will help me to remember you fondly once you’re back in your own city.”
“About that…” As Ganondorf’s words to trail off, he pressed his thumbs into the stiff muscles between her shoulder blades and began to massage her back. Zelda wanted to tell him to stop, but she had been on her feet all day, and what he was doing with his fingers felt wonderful.
“I’ve been thinking about your decision to initiate a republic, and I’ve made my own decision to abdicate the throne. To tell the truth, it’s something I’ve been considering for some time now. If I hadn’t been born, the position would have gone to Nabooru, and she knows this as well as anyone. I’ve discussed it with her, and I believe she’s amenable to the idea. I’d like to remain in Hyrule as an ambassador.”
“It’s been some time since we had a formal ambassador from the Gerudo,” Zelda said cautiously.
“It’s been some time since you had a formal ambassador from the Rito as well, and it goes without saying that you’ll want to maintain a good relationship with the Darknuts and Moblins. I could help facilitate that.”
“I suppose you could,” Zelda agreed. “How generous of you.”
Feeling self-conscious, Zelda walked to the window and looked out over the mountains, not wanting Ganondorf to see her blush.
“But I should tell you that I have a selfish reason for wanting to stay,” Ganondorf continued as he followed her. “I’ve always loved Hyrule, ever since I first came to your castle with my mother. I’d like to spend more time here, if you’ll have me.”
Zelda thought of the flowers he kept in his rooms, and her mind wandered to the terrible old man in his garden under the Great Sea. By this point she knew Ganondorf well enough to know that he did nothing without reason, but she also knew he was telling the truth about his affection for Hyrule. Perhaps it would fade, in time; perhaps he might one day grow nostalgic for his homeland and long to return. But he was here now, telling her that he wanted to stay with her.
She turned to face him. That would be nice, she wanted to say, or something equally inane, but instead of speaking she reached for him, and then his lips were on hers, hot and demanding. She opened herself to him, and he cupped the back of her neck to pull her closer. She tasted him in her mouth, the sweetness of his breath and the spice of his tongue.
A part of her expected to hear Tetra’s voice in her mind, chastising her for allowing Ganondorf to take advantage of her. Was he really giving up power by abdicating, or did he still have an ulterior motive for wanting to remain in Hyrule? Was this part of a larger game he was playing?
If this man is a threat, Zelda thought, breaking the kiss, then I welcome the challenge. But she was done doubting Ganondorf’s intentions, and she was finished with maintaining her silence.
“I’m going to have to tell you something,” she said.
“Good,” he replied, meeting her eyes. “I want you to tell me everything from now on.”
“You seem to think that Ganon is a cycle, or somehow related to the seal held in place by the Master Sword, but I agree with my father, and I agree with our mothers. I think Ganon is real. I’m worried that you will become Ganon, eventually. As long as you stay in Hyrule, I’m afraid that’s always going to be a danger.”
“None of this changes who I am,” Ganondorf assured her as he kissed her forehead. “I will always be on the side of the men who opposed Hyrule. I’m still angry about what happened to my mother, and I’m still angry that your monarchy has lasted for as long as it has. I will always be angry, and my anger will always be dangerous to you. But would you really want me to be gentle?”
“It would make me happy if you could be yourself,” she answered, relaxing into the strength of his arms.
“You want me to be myself? After everything you’ve seen?”
I’ve seen more than you can possibly imagine, Zelda wanted to tell him. She thought of the man who had cut down each of the leaders of the tribes of Hyrule as gracefully as he had once danced with her in the Great Hall, even as he told her that Hyrule would burn, and she thought of the man with a lined face and stooped shoulders who tended flowers in his garden in the underwater courtyard outside a forgotten library. In the Temple of Time Zelda had realized that Ganondorf loved fighting, that it satisfied a physical craving within him. Or perhaps he needed a form for the violence that raged within him. Zelda had seen Hyrule as Ganondorf must have seen it, passing through one life after another, staggering through a fantastic landscape of disaster and pain, floating under overbright moonlight on the waves of his own darkness.
“I will take control of your violence and exhaust it,” she promised him, meeting his eyes. “I will take you to the end of the world and see that you arrive safely.”
Ganondorf murmured her name and kissed her. He was fervent and urgent as he pressed himself against her, exploring and revealing her, consuming her with his hands and mouth even as he stiffened at her waist, earnest and sincere in his desire. The joining of their bodies was perfect, and they fit together as if they had been made for one another. If it was their fate that their union would only lead to disaster, then so be it. We abandon kingdoms because we want more than kingdoms, Zelda thought, and in his arms she knew it was true.
“You saw something I didn’t,” Ganondorf said as he held her. Zelda nodded, her head against his chest. She waited for him to continue, but he was silent. It occurred to her that, for all the questions she had asked Ganondorf, he never once asked her to explain her own actions. He was never one to ask questions, and she understood now that he was simply waiting for her to reveal herself on her own terms.
“You want to know why I destroyed the baton my father was holding?”
“You said something about seeing Hyrule flood.”
“I did,” Zelda confirmed.
“You said you saw me as well.”
“I did. You were… older. And unhappy. It wasn’t a good future. For you, or for anyone.”
“Did I become Ganon?”
“I don’t think so.”
“Was I still as handsome as I am now?”
“Of course,” she lied.
“If I didn’t see the vision, then it must have been real. You managed to move through time.”
“I’m not sure if that’s exactly what happened, but it felt close enough.”
“That should be impossible.”
“As impossible as the way you move through space?”
“The consequences of moving through space are minimal. You changed the entire reality of our world.”
“Yes, and you should thank me.”
“Would you do it again?”
“I’d prefer not to.”
“You destroyed the artifact the king was holding. What will you do with the ocarina?”
Ganondorf’s body was still warm and pliant against her own, but his voice had become dangerously quiet and still. A part of her had been afraid of him all this time, and with good reason, but she was beginning to realize that he had been afraid of her as well. And with good reason. Still, she was hurt that he couldn’t yet bring himself to trust her.
“I tried to destroy the ocarina earlier,” she admitted, offering the truth without prevarication. “I used the same silver arrows, but they had no effect. That magic only came to me in the presence of the Triforce and the Master Sword, so it may not always work. I think it might be possible that no one person can destroy the ocarina. But…” She paused to collect her thoughts as she tried to remember the shape of Tetra’s pendant. “I think there may be a way to split it into pieces. We should probably ask Link for help.”
Ganondorf’s body tensed, and she pulled away from him. “What?” she asked. “Isn’t that what you want?”
“I don’t like it that you had a child with Link.”
Despite herself, Zelda couldn’t help laughing. “I saw the end of Hyrule, with you trapped in an underwater castle for who even knows how many years, and that’s what you’re upset about?”
“Are you still opposed to having children?”
Oh my, Zelda thought. What a thing for him to ask. “You’re getting ahead of yourself,” she said, still smiling. “I haven’t agreed to allow you to remain in Hyrule.”
“How bold of you to assume that it would be my children you’d be having.”
“I’ve found that I’ve become bolder since I received the Triforce of Courage. Do you feel any wiser?”
“Wiser? No. Although perhaps a bit more… imaginative.”
Ganondorf grinned and tilted Zelda’s chin up to meet his mouth. She welcomed his kiss, and her hands roamed over his robes as she traced the contours the body hiding underneath. Imaginative, indeed. She didn’t mind admitting that she’d been imagining a few things herself.
A faint sound caught Zelda’s attention, and both she and Ganondorf turned toward its source. Someone was knocking at the door to the sitting room downstairs.
“Your Majesty?” a muffled voice called out. “We’ve come to help you prepare for the evening.”
“I should leave,” Ganondorf said, starting to pull away, but Zelda gripped the fabric of his sleeves.
“Stay,” she insisted. “I have no desire for it to be a secret that I allow you to visit me here. I’m a queen now. I can do whatever I want.”
“Is that so,” Ganondorf muttered, his grin widening. “Then what do you want, Your Majesty?”
Zelda gave herself a moment to envision a future in which none of this had happened. Hyrule hadn’t flooded, the Triforce hadn’t been split, and she hadn’t shot the king. She had never seen Link with the Master Sword in his hand, and she had never confronted Ganondorf. She imagined a world in which she had never been visited by nightmares of a raging beast crashing over the kingdom, and her coronation ceremony had proceeded as planned, with the future stretching in a straight line in front of her as far as she could see. But everything had changed, and she no longer knew what to expect.
“I’m not entirely certain at the moment,” Zelda admitted. “For the time being, I want you to redo my hair. I want to show off those hairpins you gave me. Do you think you can handle that?”
“With pleasure,” Ganondorf said, tucking one of her sidelocks behind her ear.
“I also want you to go downstairs and dismiss my staff, if you wouldn’t mind. Please tell them that I won’t be wearing a gown this evening.”
“Is there any reason you can’t tell them that yourself?”
“No, there’s no reason at all, except that I want it spread around the entire castle that I’ve had a private audience with you. In my bedroom. I want them to think I’m currently too preoccupied to meet them.”
“Too undressed to meet them, you mean.” Ganondorf narrowed his eyes. “What are you planning?”
“I’m getting get the gossip out of the way before it becomes a problem.”
“I question the wisdom of sending up smoke where there’s no fire.”
“Who said there’s no fire? The evening isn’t over yet.”
“Is that an invitation?”
Zelda looked into his eyes and smiled, happy that she was finally able to speak exactly as she wished. “Yes,” she said. “It’s an invitation.”
“I’ll consider it.”
“Then I’ll consider it accepted.”
Ganondorf gazed at her a moment longer before heading downstairs. He opened the door this time, rather more loudly than was necessary.
Zelda let out the breath she had been holding and walked to the basin placed next to her dressing table. She splashed her face with water and then regarded herself in the mirror as she patted her skin dry. All things considered, she didn’t look half bad. She would look even better once Ganondorf plaited her hair. Her mother once wore her hair in a style that she’d claimed had been inspired by the Gerudo queen, and Zelda was certain Ganondorf would know how to recreate it. She imagined his fingers in her hair and shivered with pleasure.
“May the goddess grant me wisdom,” she said to herself, blushing at the thought.
Zelda brushed a spot of dust from her trousers and straightened the sleeves of her jacket as she waited for Ganondorf to return. She may be the descendant of a goddess, but she wouldn’t let that stop her from becoming the master of her own fate.
She selected one of the rapiers mounted on a stand beside her bed and belted its scabbard across her hips. The weight of the metal felt good on her thigh. Zelda was only a novice swordswoman, but there would be plenty of opportunities for her to develop her skill once she left the castle. Perhaps Ganondorf could teach her a thing or two – and Link could as well, if he chose to accompany them.
Zelda raised her hand and watched as the golden triangle revealed itself, shining in the sunset. This would be her first night presiding over her court without her father, but Impa and Nabooru and Ruto were waiting for her, and Link and Ganondorf were to be her escorts. Zelda was filled with anticipation. She tightened the straps holding the sword at her waist and prepared to meet her destiny as the newest leader of Hyrule.

🎭🎮🕹️🗡️👑🗻⛩️👊💣🧚🔥✨🙊👍?
Holy moly that's a lotta emojis! Okay, here we go...
🎭: He must be a separate person, because I yell at him when he does the wrong thing (even though it's my fault for pushing the wrong button). But on the other hand, I empathize so hard with this little guy I am leading to victory, and sometimes I respond to other things in the game as if I were Link, so maybe...both?
🎮: This is a tough one. I haven't played all of them, or even half of them, and "favorite" is always a tricky word with me. I guess BOTW, since it's the one that rocketed me into loving this franchise to a whole new level.
🕹️: The original The Legend of Zelda babeyyyyyyy. And I played it when it was new.
🗡️: This I definitely don't have an answer for. It's about the dynamic, not the individual characters.
👑: On firmer ground here, since not many of them stand out from the pack. Tetra is Best Zelda for sure, but favorite Zelda as Zelda? Gotta be the one from BOTW. She's a princess who's also a science nerd.
🗻: I assume I would live in a human village just doing human villager stuff. Maybe I'd work in the local potion shop.
⛩️: I'm running into the pitfalls of the word "favorite" again...Stone Tower Temple combines rewarding puzzles with some of the best dang music, so I'll say that one.
👊: I haven't played it, but Master Kohga's fully-voiced scenes in Age of Calamity made me laugh so hard when I watched a compilation video that he gets it...today. This may be subject to change.
💣: Here we go again with that word...but I am always super-happy to get the Double Clawshot in TP.
🧚: Probably Midna.
🔥: Exploring! Seeing something I haven't been to yet and going to see what it is! Filling in more of the map!
✨: Am I allowed to say the blank bit in the center? j/k, it's Wisdom. I am a brain person.
🙊: The official timeline is so unnecessary. They should have gone with an explanation like, these are all different versions of the same legend. (Also, the Happy Mask Salesman in OOT is NOT creepy; y'all are projecting backwards onto him from the version in MM. In OOT, he's just a smiley guy behind a retail counter.)
👍: The "Goddess of Time" mentioned in MM is Nayru. Nayru is credited with creating the laws of nature, of which time is certainly one, and time magic tends to use her color, blue.

Across the Sea
2
"Grandma, I'm home!"
Link barges in the front door the way his grandmother always has to tell him not to, slamming the door shut behind him. He doesn't hear a response, so he calls out again.
"Grandma?"
"In the kitchen, dear!"
He makes his way there, wiping his boots on the mat by the front door before he does. When he makes it through the doorway, he stops in his tracks, eyes wide in horror.
Seated on the floor across his grandmother's old table is none other than the King of Evil himself.
Link is dimly aware of his grandmother saying something, but he can't hear it over the pounding of blood in his ears as Ganondorf turns around and meets Link's eyes with his ugly amber ones.
Ganondorf grins toothily and lets out a small chuckle. "Of course this is your grandson, Aisha. He's the spitting image of his father."
Link finds his voice. "What are you doing here?!" He draws the Master Sword, ignoring his grandmother's protests. "Get away from my grandmother, you… you fiend!"
"Link! That's no way to talk to a guest at all! I don't know what the issue is here," she continues, looking between the sword in Link's hand and Ganondorf's nasty grin with trepidation, "but the both of you should act like the adults you are and talk it out."
"Listen to your grandmother, boy."
Link opens his mouth to argue some more, but his grandma glares at him from behind Ganondorf's head, so he closes his mouth, sheathes the Master Sword, and sits down at the table beside her.
"Much better. Now, what is wrong?"
"Grandma, this man is the King of Evil from the legend! He's my greatest enemy!"
Link's grandmother turns to Ganondorf. "Is this true?"
"It is." It is Grandma's turn to gape, though she has a little more dignity about it than Link. "Aisha... I will not lie to you. I was indeed the great evil that caused the destruction of Hyrule. I now seek to return the old country from beneath the waves. You see... Hyrule has not been destroyed, not really. No, it lies at the bottom of this cursed ocean, underneath an enchantment that protects it from the water. I seek to return the Triforce to its whole self once more, and use its power to bring back Hyrule."
"I see... this is a troubling turn of events. Still, if what you say about returning Hyrule to the world is true... Why did you not tell me before?"
"Yeah! It would have made more sense to spread your plan around, wouldn't it? That way, people could help you find the Triforce."
"People would have believed me a lunatic. The old kingdom is lost now, its story but a legend told by only your people. The people who live on this ocean are far too preoccupied with themselves to aid me in finding a lost country." He looks Link straight in the eye. "But you... You drew the Master Sword. That sword cannot be drawn by any except the one who contains the spirit of a hero, the same spirit your predecessor shared. It gives me reason to believe that you also could find and bear the Triforce of Courage, as he did."
"You mean like Tetra has the Triforce of Wisdom?" Link blurted without thinking.
"Tetra... that girl who was with you in my tower. Yes. Just as she is the descendant of the one who bore the Triforce of Wisdom and is now the one who bears it, so too could you be the one who bears the Triforce of Courage."
"I think I understand," Grandma says. "Link, you should find the Triforce of Courage. To see the old country come back to life... If we have that opportunity in this lifetime, we should take it."
Link hesitates. "I... I want to see Hyrule again... it's beautiful. But... my guide said you only ever take, and destroy. I don't know who to believe."
"Your guide?"
Link figures it couldn't hurt to tell him, at this point. "He's called the King of Red Lions. My boat. He's actually the spirit of the last King of Hyrule, though."
A dark look overshadowed Ganondorf's face. "I see. I want to speak to him myself. Take me to him."
"I...I guess. As long as you don't destroy my boat."
"I will not. You have my word."
Link leads Ganondorf and Grandma out to the dock where he had moored the boat. The King turns his head at Link's approach. "Ah, Link. Did you have a good visit -" He caught sight of Ganondorf. "Link, is that -"
Ganondorf folded his arms across his chest. "It is," he says in a voice that rumbles like thunder. "You are a fool and a liar, old king."
"You're one to talk! You, who completely ruined the country you desired so much!"
"That is true," Ganondorf allows, "but I have changed a great deal from that mindless beast. Several centuries will do that to a man. I seek only the reconstruction of Hyrule now."
"Why should I believe you?! You broke out from the Sages' seal in a rampage, one that I watched with my own two eyes! You've done nothing since but kidnap young girls and attack settlements with monsters!"
"The monsters are not mine. There were monsters living in Hyrule before I ever entered it. The ones there did as I said, after my conquest, but the monsters of the Great Sea do not heed my commands."
"But you do not deny the charges of kidnapping!"
"Wait a moment," Grandma interrupts. "Was it your bird who kidnapped Aryll?"
Ganondorf turns to Grandma. "None of the girls I took were harmed in any way. I swear it. I was merely looking for the bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom. If I had been given the opportunity, I would have sent the bird back with the girls when I had ascertained that they were not the one I was looking for." He turns back to the king with a scowl. "I could see no other way to find Wisdom. Speaking of my misdeeds in such a way is rather hypocritical, coming from the man who sank Hyrule in the first place."
Link starts. "You were the one who sank Hyrule?"
The King scowls as much as his wooden face will allow. "I was. That was how I had possession of the Wind Waker; I used its power centuries ago to seal Hyrule beneath the water, to save it and its people from Ganon's destruction."
Ganondorf's scowl deepens. "Hyrule's people, but for those you considered unworthy. My own people, for instance."
"The Gerudo could take care of themselves, I thought."
"We were desert dwellers! None of us could swim, and you knew that well enough! You left my people behind on purpose!"
"I -"
"Do not try to deny it!"
"Enough," Grandma cuts in. "No shouting at each other. We can discuss this like civilized people. Now. No matter of the other's past transgressions, I think you two ought to have a common goal in restoring Hyrule. Isn't that right?"
Ganondorf and the King open their mouths as though to argue, then they shut them and nod. Grandma nods in satisfaction.
"That's right. Now, what needs to be done to do that?"
"The Master Sword must be restored to its full power -"
"We need to find the Triforce of Courage. That is all. The Master Sword is irrelevant -"
"Except to keep you in check," The King mutters.
"Now, I'll have none of that, thank you. So we need to find the Triforce of Courage. Anything else?"
"I have the Triforce of Power already. Where is the bearer of Wisdom?"
"Safe."
"She's in the basement of Hyrule Castle," Link volunteers. The King scowls at him, but Link ignores it. He's following his Grandma's word now, not Ganondorf's and not the King's.
"You will need to fetch her."
"Bring her back here, dear," Grandma offers. "I'll take care of her while you search for the Triforce of Courage." Grandma smiles brightly. "I can't believe it... we're going to return to the ancient kingdom!"

More Breath of the Wild feels...
This time about Zelda and her, uh, crisis...
Specifically, her identity crisis.
There’s a memory where she asks Link that, if he hadn’t been born into a family of knights (Zelda also makes reference to Link’s father being a knight), would Link have followed the same path. Essentially, she’s asking him about choice. Would Link, if given the choice, have become a knight?
One has to assume, based on other information available from the game, that Zelda’s more or less talking about herself. She’s trapped between her destiny - that of a Hylian princess - and what she’d really like to do: basically be a nerd and sit around and study all day. Added into this mix is the looming prophecy that Ganon will return and the only thing that’s going to stop him are the Champions and Zelda. And Zelda’s like, “Yeah, I get that’s important, but these powers just aren’t really coming and I don’t really get it anyway so maybe I could just study these guardians n shit?” and her dad shuts her down. And the people are like “She’s totally not what we expected”.
Zelda in Breath of the Wild is, more or less, the anti-Zelda. She’s everything we didn’t expect from her because this Zelda is actively rejecting all the Zeldas that came before. Even Tetra - perhaps the most anti-Zelda before Breath of the Wild - embraced her powers very readily. If it were not for the extreme external pressure placed upon her, this Zelda seems very content to simply not have powers. To be as mortal as anyone else. Then again, she lived a long ass time with them. Stuck for one hundred years battling Ganon might take the luster off such things.
In the epilogue, Zelda says the voice in the (Master) sword is getting dimmer to her, and she seems perfectly happy with that. Her powers have caused her nothing but unhappiness. When they didn’t appear, she was made to feel miserable and broken. When they finally did, it was at the most horrible time possible (Link dying). They can only remind her of destruction and death. Of course she’d want to be rid of them.
The one thing Zelda has the most self-confidence in is her own intellectual abilities. Her identity as a scholar is an important one to her, one she clings to even when her father and the kingdom question her about it. She’s probably the most active Zelda when it comes to acquiring actual wisdom about the world around her. It feels so natural when one remembers Zelda is actually Hylia reborn. She is interested in Hyrule because she is, in a way, the kingdom itself. She loves it dearly, wants to see it thrive.
Gosh, I could go on. But I’ll stop for now.
