Linktober Day 10 - Zelda Tetra!
It’s such a shame Tetra was treated so poorly in Phantom Hourglass 😔 she would’ve been so fun to interact with on the Linebeck ship

Someone insulted Tetra's ship and crew. Only she is allowed that privilege! As such she is hurling threats while smiling, just to make them more uncomfortable. Probably a good thing Link isn't here to start a brawl

Propaganda
No propaganda for Tetra yet
Hornblower's the most soggy wet pathetic man I've ever seen <3 He's got 56 mental illnesses and slowly goes from an albeit anxious but excited midshipman to a bitchy admiral

Febuwhump - Day 2
(still day 2 in my country, lol) Day 2: Solitary Confinement
Tumblr media
Tetra walked aimlessly, searching for something or someone to keep her sane. It had been a while since that old guy - King? Boat? - disappeared with the boy, probably to guide him through the sea, while she herself needed a guide too. The deafening silence followed her through the white corridors. There was no sound of the sea. There was no sound of wind. Only her. Only her and the noise of her footsteps, echoing in search of another listener. Before long, her mind started playing tricks on her. Her vision, quick and sharp, became a source of paranoia. Her ears, accustomed to extreme, brought her on alert at the slightest noise. A dull joke for the entertainment, not hers but anyone else's. Her body faithfully followed the path. And soon, the seconds turned into minutes, the minutes turned into hours. Hours that were uncertain until night finally appeared, bringing the familiar darkness with a single statement: the world above continued without her.

It’s time for me to rant about Spirit Tracks Zelda and why she is so much more important then we give her credit in the Toon timeline.
So lets first think about her name. Zelda, this alone gives us the idea that she is supposed to be a new standard of princess/royalty in this timeline.
Because before her there was Tetra, who I honest to gosh don’t think hated being in the role of princess. She hated that this role had a negative impact on her friend. When she finds out, shes not, “Oh my gosh I’m the princess!” She more, “Oh my gosh because I’m the princess, I put Link and his sister into danger and because of me people have died, and Link has now been given an unbearable weight.” You also have this sense that she feels isolated in this role. Which is a big theme in the game, forcing a younger generation to take on the role of a older generation, that no longer makes sense or is even possible. So when Link and Tetra leave, Tetra returns to who she really is. Not adopting the role of Zelda. I also think this is why in Spirit Tracks they went with the glass window of Tetra, because that is who she was and is. I also don’t think she would have named her children Zelda, to scared by the name to even put that on her kids.
Back to Spirit Tracks Zelda, this is why her name is important, because there is a good chance she is the first Zelda in the line. Considering Niko is still kicking, I assume she is the granddaughter or Great granddaughter of Tetra. Making it even more likely she is the first. St Zelda will be the first to start a new tradition and standard and that is huge.
St Zelda said it was a tradition for past princess to wait, however this time she was pushed to go and join Link (Something Tetra should have been allowed to do!) Creating a new standard!
From this point on, if the name Zelda is passed down, it will be in honor of the suit of armor princess Zelda, who fought along side the new Hero of New Hyrule. Journeying by his side, giving greater appreciation for who she was.
St Zelda is the official start of Toon Zelda line, and I think that’s awesome because she’s a warrior, not just a princess, and she got a tone of sass. If they created a new game for this timeline, then there is a huge chance Zelda would join Link! Because Toon Zelda’s are no longer bound to this waiting game, they are free to fight! Free to journey! Free to Adventure and explore!  Because, “What would the first Zelda do! Father! She would join Link in defeating this evil! And that is what I will be doing!”  St Zelda started the standard that Tetra always wanted, and I think that’s neat!

Oooh fun! How about the word 'pearl'?
-Sky Floor
After so many months, Link had finally found it.
It was slimy to the touch, covered in deep green sea moss as he pulled it out of the pool. It’s size was perfect enough to be held in his hand comfortably enough, which made it even more special. He took out his special knife from his back sheath, scraping the slimy stuff off it’s shell, revealing the intricate patterns of deep blue and purples. An oyster.
Using his knife again, he cut along the ribbed edges of the oyster, trying to pry it’s mouth open. It was quite a stubborn bloke, but Link wasn’t about to give up either. It had been the first oyster he had seen in a long time, right when he had decided it. He couldn’t wait for the next opportunity, if there was one.
After much prying and praying, up until he thought his knife blade was going to break, the oyster relented. With a snap, the mouth was open.
And right hidden in it’s center was what he was looking for. A pearl.
Link took the pearl from its mouth, tossing the oyster aside. It was perfect. More than perfect. He saw his own reflection in the milky texture of the smooth object, colors of blue and pink shining off of it’s surface. It was a lot smaller than the pearl his grandmother had been buried with, but it would do it’s job just as well.
He curled his fingers around the sphere, holding it close to his chest. Only one more thing to do now.
———
“What is so important that you have to drag me out here for?” Tetra chuckled, allowing Link to guide her down the beach. “And what is with this blindfold?”
“You’ll see,” Link said, watching the sun slowly sink over the horizon. His heart was thumping inside of his throat, his brain yelling at him to turn back now and wait until another day to try this again. But when would be the next opportunity.
“Okay,:” Link said, stopping. He let go of Tetra’s hand, taking the blindfold off of his captain.
Tetra blinked a few times, before looking around. Her gaze caught the sunset, and she gasped slightly.
“This island has the most beautiful sunsets,” Link said. “I thought you would’ve liked to see it.”
An eruption of orange filled the sky. The sun hovered just above the ocean’s waters, sending glittering lights reflecting from the choppy surface. It’s waning light casted everything in a golden glow, sending off an explosion of magic and color before it was to disappear beyond the waves.
“There’s… something else.” Link began to lower himself to the glowing golden sand, swallowing down the nausea threatening to escape. Well, here goes nothing.
Tetra broke her contact with the sunset to look down at him confused, but her eyes widened when she saw what he was doing. He held out his hand, offering the pearl that he had gathered earlier that week. “Tetra, goddess of the ocean,” he said, “Pirate Queen of the Great Seas, captain of the Loreley, will you do me the honors and marry me?”
Tetra looked down at the pearl, her wide eyes glistening from tears that had begun to sprung up. “About time you asked, chu chu head!” Tetra tackled Link into the sand, both laughing and crying from joy.

Fic Prompts: Free Day Thursday
Featuring: Wind Waker and Gerudo translations from here
*"You...look different, little captain."
Tumblr media
Ganondorf couldn't help cringing just a little. The guise of Princess Zelda ill-fitted the pirate.
"I can't see my face, but my arms are the wrong color. How bad is it?" Tetra demanded, "What did that ghost creep do with my sword?"
She truly did not understand who he was, then. What he represented. To her, Ganondorf was merely an antagonist she'd run across, but not a serious nemesis. It would have been insulting if it weren't so amusing.
Tumblr media
"He has made you into the likeness of his departed daughter, your ancestor," Ganondorf said bluntly. "Anything that does not fit that role has likely been discarded."
Tetra was furious. "Dorta Hailiya voe!" she shrieked, "Sa'deva!"
In flawless Gerudo.
Ganondorf had not anticipated this. Who had taught the sailor's brat Gerudo? He was the last of his people, was he not? The dark lord drew back a step and pondered this unpleasant surprise. Perhaps the Sheikah still lived. After all the generations of Gerudo they'd killed in the days before his birth, Ganondorf wouldn't have been surprised if some of them picked up the language for espionage. That added insult to injury, then.
Ganondorf drew himself up to his full height and glared down at the would-be princess. "Who taught you those words?"
Still fuming, the child paced back and forth. After a moment, she ripped off the long gloves and threw them down to be trampled. "These are not my clothes," she growled, "this is not my skin. These are not my weapons. A'ni yaigeru'orq!"
I am of the Traveling Women.
Ganondorf knew where those words had come from. Could a descendant of his ancient enemies really share kin with his people? Was it possible that the blood of one of his many daughters flowed through the little pirate's veins? The sorcerer stroked his beard and frowned. Then, he decided that it couldn't hurt anything but the king of Hyrule to see how far the girl's knowledge went.
"A'ni Ganoendorf, de'shert Gerudo," he introduced himself, "I am Ganondorf, of the Desert People of the Spear."
This halted the girl in her tracks. She craned her neck to stare up at him. After a long few seconds, she stammered, "The- the desert? It's been underwater for-"
"Generations," Ganondorf finished. His frown deepened. "I survived. As did others of my clan, obviously, if these yaigeru'orq taught you to speak our words."
Tetra's eyes widened. "Whoa! How old are you?!" She didn't wait for an answer. "You're like, ancient! A vo'baani! Hey, Vo'baani, what's your deal with Link? Sure, he's kind of a goody two-shoes, but he's just a kid!"
She planted her fists on her hips. "You don't have to make things so rough for him all the time! He's got enough trouble with that dumb talking boat Hailiyadorf that keeps dragging him into hero business."
Ganondorf couldn't be certain, but he thought he felt his right eye twitch, just a little.
