watching the s2 trailers i'm just so loving the 1790s glimpses so far. it could be totally misleading, but i kind of get the sense that (for now, in these clips), armand is kind of painting a picture of how initially(?) lestat impressed him as a sexy badass when he came into his life? bc these memories, sir. damn.

which is a hilarious contrast to a season of louis's condemnation of him mostly as a manipulative, insensitive, selfish partner who was a crap mentor and a terrible parent, who nonetheless had a compelling "way about him" (and a vampire bond). (BUT! ofc if we read between the lines it's clear these aren't louis's only feelings on the matter. just the framing he currently has for daniel.)

i'm really curious whether louis or armand (both?) is portraying lestat looking glamorous and villainous at the trial:

and not to break your dash, but of course claudia's recounting of him that we're allowed to know is mostly lestat as anywhere from a negligent to cold to monstrous maker/uncle/brother/tormentor.

Hopefully this isn't too weird but I love the way you draw hands, it's like the way you draw them seem just as expressive as the faces on the characters, I just love how they look and I hope I get there someday (if you have any tips please share but if not that's okay!)

I love your art and characters and how you draw their expressions/poses, it's all so nice!

Not weird at all, I'm very flattered! Hands have become extremely important to me, I tend to put a lot of effort in trying to get them look just right. I'm still not where I want to be with them but improving nonetheless. If you ask me, a thoughtfully and intently drawn hand can be almost as expressive as a character's face, just like you said. They're such complex and intricate structures with massive emotive and aesthetic potential, it'd be waste to not make use of them in art.

#as for the tips I guess I like to reference my own hands a lot #take photos and use mirrors if you can't get the angles right otherwise #look at your hands like you've never seen them before basically #I also love to watch animated films and really focus on the hands because due to the nature of the medium a lot of animators have really #perfected simplifying hand shapes and gestures in a way that is easy to read visually and communicates feelings extremely effectively #it's funny many artists develope a signature way of handling hands and I often look at their art and wonder if their own set of hands looks #similar to their style #I try to give my ocs a bit of variation but my default hands (and Machete's hands) seem to be just my own little gremlin mitts #at least more often than not #answered #anonymous

it’s hilarious to me that absolutely no one knows what the gods or high-profile monsters look like in the modern world. they have to suss it out. a guy on a motorcycle offers them help and annabeth only figures out he’s ares because he sings the praises of war and calls himself their cousin. to which he says “you must be athena’s kid,” implying that only smart people can figure out who he is. scraggly guy walks out from the mechanic room in the thrill ride o’ love and annabeth only figures out he’s hepheastus when he says “i built this.” the furies who? medusa who? echidna who? can someone please make a photographic manual already

Today with @dreadfutures's lovely Ixchel, who managed to lure Radha out, and a colour palette which is just my jam. Radha isn't usually for kisses or public displays of affection, but I do think she'd go to peck one, very incospicuously, passing by. Solavellan assemble! This was pretty challenging to do (drawing plants is not my favourite thing + I love how Dirthamen vallaslin looks... I always struggle drawing it) BUT, Ixchel was lovely to draw and purple and yellow are my favourite colour combination. I'm happy with the result!

Communication building exercise

its your local mod signal here: here to give you a good visualizing tool our therapist gave us for systems who have decent communication, but, for whatever reason, have lost it and self isolated:

we always picture ourselves as the squares on a quilt

one little square is flimsy on its own, but quilts are meant to work together. just like systems

so we take a deep breath, and remind ourselves of what everyone is like. of the strengths of everyone in our system. we remind ourselves that it's not dangerous to let ourselves interact and work as a team

and then we picture that thought as a thread

and weave the quilt back together again, stronger than ever before.

is this magic? no. does it help everyone relax for a second? yes. if you remind yourselves enough times of what it is everyone's bringing to the table, the barriers everyone's put up will eventually begin to loosen again. and believe me. its an absolute fucking relief to hear people again after a period like that.
