Mura kept holding Kageito, now sitting on the ground cross legged as they let him process his emotions. The silence of the dark void is calming to say the least, even if the mood right now is still somber from before. They didn't seem to mind though, they checked the meters to make sure they were mostly full.
Their kindness is so... familiar... they can somewhat understand him muttering the names that sounded similar to his own, all ending with -to.
"Perhaps it's Kaito...?" Mura thinks to themself. "He seems to be mentioning him, but I could be wrong..."
They kept quiet though, pondering if they should press the pet button or not. Mura wanted to show affection for him, but at the same time he was going through a lot... it was probably best to stay by his side until he says otherwise...

So on the 18th of this month, I was just browsing around on my laptop and I got a comment notification on my phone from the Ink Demon Youtooz unboxing that I did, and guess what....Sean Crisden himself the VA of the Ink Demon commented on my video and let's just say that I screamed with joy and also squealed with delight when I saw the comment from a VA from one of the Bendy games I enjoy watching Let's Plays on! Once again, I feel like this is such an optimistic take on celebrity and fan connections. Crowdsourcing a place to stay through your fans sounds insane. Maybe I'm just a little tainted by my own experience with fandom, but I cannot possibly fathom any artist I like (that also has a sizable fanbase) wanting to connect to their fans on such a personal level merely out of safety concerns.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for Amanda Palmer! I think it's great that she could foster such intimate connections with her fans and that she finds it so rewarding. I have no doubt that this probably encourages her fans to buy in even more than they already have (that's how parasocial relationships work, isn't it?), but it just sounds so, so very incredibly dangerous. And a little naive. But maybe her and her fans represent what could be. Who knows?

i'm always a bit unsettled by disdain for intellectual or creative labor in leftist spaces. there's this commonly held belief that academics are a bunch of rich old white men, rather than a wide variety of people who are barely getting by. most lecturers in universities are adjuncts living paycheck to paycheck. authors make very little money as a general rule. most researchers are overworked and underpaid. and yet there's still this idea that academics are overcompensated to sit around and smoke cigars together while making shit up
#seeing the response to the plagiarism video of 'this is a victimless crime' rubs me the wrong way#these are your fellow workers who are having their work stolen by people making considerably more money#and by and large the people whose work gets stolen are the people who the plagiarists think they can more easily steal from#namely people of color and especially women of color and lgbt people of color#especially the poorest among them without substantial backing or large audiences

The smell of old spice or like that very specific sort of musky basement smell but it’s not a bad smell it’s a nice one lmao
