Made two lovely things that tie in together. If you've read my Death is an evil. series, I vaguely mention these, but these are my favourite contenders for what would be Jonathan and Nancy's Vecna Songs. So, I thought making little edits for these would be perfect for today. Neither are the full songs, but I did have a lot of fun with both of them and I hope you enjoy them :D

if you can’t see pictures in your mind, would that make you immune to Vecna’s attacks?

Guess who doesn’t need a song to survive a Vecna attack? Anyone in Hawkins who, like me, has aphantasia — the inability to see pictures in your mind. (It’s just a never ending stream of words in here, with no accompanying visuals.)

Every time I watch S4 of Stranger Things and Vecna’s getting all up in everyone’s business, I’m struck by the fact that Vecna couldn’t show me horrifying visions — even if he really wanted to. Because my brain simply does not work that way. Of course, Vecna could describe terrifying things to me, but I don’t think it’d have the same impact.

Vecna [audible sigh]: Okay, let’s try this again. Picture in your mind —

Me: I can’t picture anything in my mind. I already told you that.

Vecna [clearly frustrated]: Fine. You enter your childhood home and your parents are sitting in the family room. You cross the room to see their faces and when you finally do, there’s blood everywhere and their eyes are gone!

Me [underwhelmed]: Oh. Well that doesn’t good. Is that it?

Vecna [increasingly agitated]: Your parents have been gruesomely mutilated! And now I’m standing in front of you! I’m very big and scary!

Me [consolingly]: Hey, it’s alright. I’m sure you are very scary.

Vecna: Thank you. I’m really trying here.

Me: I can tell.

For me, the choice was pretty easy:

I was introduced to this song by a stoner friend of a friend, several months before I moved to Hawaii for a couple years. It makes me feel like I can be adventurous and travel anywhere and do anything! I really miss those days. 😭

Runners up = Cosmic Love by Florence & the Machine and Cinema (Skrillex Remix) by Benny Benassi.

Honestly my music tastes change all the time but it's gotta be something that pulls me back from the depths of a hellscape from the first few notes, so I'm gonna go for a classic by my favourite band of all time and my favourite album (it's the only one I can listen to all the way through without skipping anything). Who deserve way more recognition than they get (imho)

I like to think this is what Eddie's singing voice sounds like because I'm 100% biased, ok? 😂

All this discourse about all these metal songs and which one would be Eddie's Vecna song, but what if it's Eddie My Love by the Chordettes because his partner always softly sings it to him when they're cuddling?

Or what if it's some really sweet song you would never in a million years think he would like but his partner loves it and whenever he sees them all lost in their own little world singing it, he just goes all fuzzy and he's in his happy place and that's the song that would save him?
