call me at midnight
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
momo misses you - but in a completly different way than you thought.
Tumblr media
I got a special inspiration for this >_<, something short bc im working on lots of other things ; phone sex ; bottom!momo (omg what????) ; degradation ; praising
men dni.
-
Twice's fifth world tour through many countries, almost all continents and even more cities.
Of course you're happy, it's incredible that her group is so popular.
But you are someone who misses other people very quickly.
Momo is no exception to this.
You lie awake in your bed, the clock reads 9 pm.
You're scrolling through social media when you decide to call Momo.
Even though she's on another continent and there's a big time difference, that doesn't stop you.
It rings once, twice, three times, and before it can ring a fourth time, she answers.
"Y/n!" she says, and you can tell from her tone that she has a big smile on her face.
"How are you?" you ask her, hoping not to interrupt anything important.
"Fine, we have several hours of rest, so I'm resting in the hotel room," she answers.
"Good for you" you say.
The two of you make small talk, Momo tells you funny things she has experienced - you listen.
But the mood begins to change a little (or completly) when you begin to compliment her.
"I've seen videos of the tour, you dance really well," you say, hearing her giggle.
And you know you've hit a nerve, you know how her brain melts when you compliment her in any way.
"Thanks," she says, but you don't stop.
"I wish I was here with you to show you how much I enjoyed your performance," you say in a lower voice with a flirtatious undertone.
You hear Momo start to breathe more heavily.
And you know exactly what she's doing when she says -
"Please keep talking."
Her voice is high as she finishes her sentence, her breathing not in time, but irregular.
"Why should I?" you ask, feeling the smile that comes to your lips.
"I need it," she answers, you are silent.
And Momo realizes that she knows what you want to hear.
"I need you," she says, a whimper at the end of the sentence.
Your smile widens as you laugh a little.
"You're really pathetic, Momo, you know that?"
You hear a moan, more unclean and heavy breathing.
And even though it's obvious what Momo is doing, you still ask -
"You're touching yourself, aren't you?"
She answers with a moan and you feel your cheeks turning red.
"You got horny because I complimented you?" you ask teasingly, stressing the complimented.
"Mhm-...y/n please," she replies.
"How pathetic that you get horny so quickly, Momo," you say with a little laugh.
You hear more whimpering, more moaning and more heavy breathing.
"I love it, honestly, what would the others think if they saw you like this? See how you immediately start touching yourself when I just say a few things to you?" you tease.
You smile as you hear her breathing quicken as she whispers "please-" and "I'm close-" several times.
"That fast?" you laugh.
"Do I make you that horny?" you ask, even though you know the answer.
"You're a little perverted, Momo," you say, and she moans louder.
You stop talking and listen to her.
"Please - y/n... fuck-..I'm -"
Your cheek gets redder and redder, and you feel yourself getting wetter and wetter, but you decide to ignore it.
You listen as she gets louder, her sounds getting higher and higher as she cums.
It's quiet for a few moments as she calms down.
"How was it?" you ask.
"Good, very good," she answers, still slightly out of breath.

(9/8) prompt: colorful — 982 words (fame au pt.2; ft. drunk and whiny james - pt.1, pt.3, pt.4, pt.5) @jegulus-microfic
Regulus can barely make out the shadowy silhouette of James on the screen of his phone, just the occasional glimpse and the reflection of colorful flashing lights catching on the lenses of his glasses. He’s so close to muting the call, because the loud music of the club that James is at is just shy of annoying, not to mention the fact that Regulus has an early call time on set in the morning. He’s in bed already with only the bedside lamp on and everything. But he and James haven’t been able to catch each other outside of sparing texts every few hours for the last couple days, so when he saw the FaceTime call, he picked up.
He misses his boyfriend, sue him.
James clearly feels the same way, because for what’s now the fifth time, he brings the phone closer to his face just to loudly, drunkenly whine, “Baby, I miss you.”
“It’s just a few more weeks, baby. We’ll be alright,” Regulus mumbles.
It’s a mantra they’ve both adopted since his filming really got underway. One that’s kept them holding on through the harder days of separation. Regulus is in France and James is still finishing the last leg of the band’s tour. In a perfect world, Regulus would be able to follow city to city, but he’s got a job, too.
“Think of the closing show,” He offers as some semblance of comfort.
Their first public appearance, the only true confirmation made by them to the press that they are in fact together. Because despite the fact that it’s been months, and they’ve been dodging rumors and cameras like it’s a second job to them, they haven’t done that yet. Taken that step. They decided the end of The Marauders’ tour was their best bet unless they wanted to wait until Regulus’ next premiere invite (they didn’t; it’s another two months away). Regulus will be flying back to London for the final night of tour, taking a long weekend before his return for his final weeks of filming. James will be going with him.
“What?” James is practically yelling now to be heard, and the momentarily higher volume makes Regulus’ eye twitch.
You love him, you love him, you love him. He reminds himself to avoid irritation.
“James, why don’t I just try to call you tomorrow?” He tries.
Colorful lights flash brighter over the screen, stinging Regulus’ eyes when James brings his phone nearer to his ear, unthinking of the camera facing the club’s ceiling.
“I’ll call you tomorrow,” He repeats, voice a touch too loud for the late hour in his hotel suite.
“No, no, no, wait, hang on,” James mutters quickly, words slurring together a little.
Regulus sighs and turns his face into his pillow while James is distracted. Honestly, he’s exhausted. Did a thirteen hour day of shooting and has to be back at it first thing, but where six months ago he would have hung up on James drunk calling him two minutes into the call, now he’s hanging on to every second he gets. He buries how pathetically infatuated that is of him the best he can. They are together, after all, his feelings don’t have to feel so much like a nuisance anymore.
James ends up outside of the club after a minute, the change in volume stark. The colors dancing over him are gone and instead it’s the yellow of street lamps that illuminate him a bit better on the screen. His face comes into view, glasses slightly crooked on his nose and cheeks flushed pink from the alcohol he’s consumed.
“Hi, baby.” James smiles adoringly at his phone and Regulus feels like he could combust.
His mouth twitches at the edges as he tucks his free hand beneath his cheek against his pillow. “Hi, darling.”
“Miss you.”
“You mentioned that once or twice.”
“Can’t wait to see you. I have airline apps and miles, gonna get a flight to you right now.”
“Mhm, I’m sure you are.”
James pouts. “You don’t believe me.”
“You’re a little drunk, baby,” Regulus notes.
“Can still get on a plane,” James argues.
“You don’t want to be here, I have to kiss my costar a lot,” Regulus teases gently.
Dramatically, James drops his head back on his neck and groans, loud and anguished. And damn it, even that is endearing of him somehow. Regulus is fucked.
“Hate this so bad, Reg,” James complains.
“I know, baby, I know.” A sigh, then a yawn. James is staring at him through the phone when he blinks slowly.
“You’re tired,” He says, brow creased. “Wait, did I wake you up?”
“Probably should have asked that about fifteen minutes ago,” Regulus chuckles. “But no. Was already in bed, though.”
“Miss being in bed with you.”
Regulus doesn’t offer any of the insinuating remarks he might typically. James is drunk so it’d probably go right over his head anyway. Aside from that, the fact is Regulus knows the feeling.
“Soon. A few more weeks. We’ll be alright.”
James sighs, but there’s a lazy smile curled at his lips, yellow light making his glassy eyes shine. “Yeah, we’ll be alright.”
“Now, please—” Regulus cuts off on another, longer yawn before shaking his head where he lays. “Please go back inside and find my brother before you drunkenly wander into some stranger’s arms just because you want a cuddle.”
“I’d never,” James stresses before he abruptly laughs giddily. When the unexpected string of laughter fades, he shines so bright with his joy that Regulus can’t help but smile in return. “I’m dating a movie star.”
“You’re so drunk,” Regulus snorts. “Go back inside. Text me to let me know you’re alive later.”
“I’ll always text you, Reg. Always always.”
“Okay, baby. I’m going to sleep now, alright?”
“I miss you.” Seventh times the charm, apparently.
“I miss you, too.”

mina x tenth!member reader
-
the millions of people in the crowd made you smile as you continued to wave at fans. your members singing along to what song was playing.
you’re on your fifth world tour, and you’ve been so ecstatic about it! going around seeing onces from all over the world fills you with excitement to perform for them.
and as the show went on, you and the girls ended up talking about whatever and the spinning wheel was out for the encore show.
nayeon, of course, rigs it acting like she hasn’t done anything to it and whatever song that the arrow is on, you have to do it.
soon after, the girls talk about each solo, giving praises and making fun of each other while you stood beside mina who had her arm around your shoulders.
“mina twerks really well! no joke!” nayeon points out.
mina chuckles with a shake of her head.
“it’s true! show us again!” jeongyeon smiles pointing at the younger girl who rolls her eyes playfully as you giggle.
jeongyeon gathered the fake money in her hands as mina went to center stage, and 7 rings had begun playing.
the crowd went crazy as jeongyeon threw the money in the air, and mina twerking along.
your members all clap and shout praises cheering mina on before she walks back over to you.
at first you thought it was just to have a good laugh and while you did laugh along, you instantly stopped when mina grabbed your worst gently and leading you to the center.
“no!” you laugh while you try to pull away and go off to the side again.
mina tried to encourage you, and it was not working.
until jihyo began to chant, “y/n! y/n! y/n!” repeatedly, causing fans to chant with her.
now you felt obligated.
the sound check played one section of the song once more, and you sighed wanting to get over with it.
with a shy smile you began to twerk when that part of the song came on and you expected the amount of screams coming from the crowd, including the girls.
but what you did not expect is to suddenly feel the body of someone behind you and smack your butt as you twerk.
from a glance you saw it was mina and instantly jumped away with wide eyes and jaw dropped.
nayeon was laughing hard. too hard that she had to sit down.
all the while jihyo was explaining and showing how mina got up behind you and smacked your butt so confidently. she got so close to you that you were practically grinding on her, jihyo said.
you knew it was going to be all over the media for people to see and scream over.
and out of comfort mina hugged you while laughing in your ear while you pout from the sudden embarrassment you felt.

MINA Harper's BAZAAR June 2024 issue
© Minami Myo Weibo
translation by MarisaTheCube
"Mina of TWICE poses against the shutters on a balcony offering a wide view of Paris, with a line of Hausmann-style buildings.
“I’ve wanted to try doing a fashion shoot for a magazine overseas. And the setting is Paris, which I love! The city’s buildings and the townscape are so beautiful, so it would make for a wonderful shoot, so I’ve been really looking forward to it.” When looking at a photo of herself dissolving into the Parisian scenery, a happy expression comes over her face. As the shoot continues, Mina changes into countless outfits and quickly captures their design, moving actively or standing still with a mature mood. Her movements are widely varied, just like a top model.
“Paris is known for its classic cityscape, but the people living there are also wonderful. There’s a calm atmosphere, and I admire the way people spend time at cafes, use chic fashion in their own ways, and dress up at night to enjoy the nightlife. When I first visited Paris, I was looking forward to sightseeing. I was able to go see the outside of the Louvre, but there wasn’t time to go inside, so I was looking forward to going there the next time. If I had an opportunity to stay longer, there are so many other plans I would want to do, like getting up in the morning and going to a café, going to the market if the weather was nice – spending time here as though I lived here,” she says with a sparkle in her eye.
In order to embody Mina’s dream plan, the shoot this time is themed as if Mina was studying abroad in Paris for a short time during the summer season. She wears Fendi’s summer collection in a bourgeois-chic apartment to express the feeling of spending time freely in the summer.
“The Fendi summer collection that I wore for the shoot this time has a fresh style of Western clothing and swimwear. When you think of swimwear, you often get the image that it’s only worn at places like the beach or the pool. But if you wear a jacket and skirt or denim pants over it, you can wear it around town, and it’s very new and cool. My personal favorite is the combination of a short jacket and striped skirt with swimwear.”
Mina travels around the world as a member of TWICE. In 2023, the group embarked on their fifth world tour, becoming the first girl group to perform at stadiums in Japan, and set records for days in a row, including setting the record for the first girl group to hold a sold-out performance at LA’s SoFi Stadium. The group’s tour is ongoing, and they are currently scheduled to hold a performance at Nissan Stadium, where they will be the first overseas female artists to perform. Mina is enthusiastic, saying, “It will be a challenge for us.”
Furthermore, last year, she began unit activities with MISAMO. “The three of us - Sana-chan, Momo-chan, and I – have been working as hard as we can to support each other. This year, we hope to go on tour for the album we released as MISAMO.”
Mina shows off her beautiful new faces one after another, both as a member of the world-famous girl group that captivates audiences with their amazing live performances, and as a model participating in fashion shoots as a brand muse. In January of this year, she attended Fendi’s couture collection as a guest, and made her show debut. She expressed that she was nervous about going to the show alone, but said, “Personally, I love Fendi, so I was even more excited for that. I bought my first knitwear a few years ago, and thought it was really cool and comfortable. After that, I bought a bag, and now I use it regularly. Personally, I like the “Peekaboo” collection. Fendi generally has very feminine collections, but they also debut some very imaginative items, so I’m always looking forward to surprises.”
As mentioned, this was Mina’s first time coming to Paris alone for a fashion shoot since her debut. She gave the impression of a female image that was simultaneously cute, intellectual, and elegant. What kind of expression will she show in her next fashion shoot? We can’t take our eyes off Mina as she continues to put forth effort and gain experience to update her form.
Mina is a member of the nine-member girl group TWICE, who are scheduled to perform at Nissan Stadium this year. Also, last year, she formed MISAMO with fellow Japanese members Sana and Momo and began unit activities."

Corroded Coffin’s first nationwide tour for their debut album started in New York with a full house. It started the precedent that Corroded Coffin were the must see band of 1989, it's also where you and Eddie parted ways. Much to Eddie’s despair, your work whilst flexible, couldn't allow you to chase your boyfriend round the country in a tour bus. Between weeping tears and desperate kisses, you said goodbye before Eddie got onto the bus, departing New York to complete the East Coast leg of the tour – leaving you behind. For a month you would be apart, only rejoining him in October for the West Coast dates. It was the longest you'd ever been apart since meeting earlier that year in February. Since confessing you were in love with each other over the summer, you could admit your heart ached without him, like part of your soul left on the tour bus with him. Ultimately you were pleased and proud, despite the boys insistence it was okay, you knew this was their first tour and they needed to experience it just the four of them without you crashing. Gareth had pinky promised to look after him and he had.
Before every gig, no matter the time zone, Eddie would call and you'd run through a pre-show ritual you'd developed over the weeks. Before you could ask anything, Eddie  would insist on knowing every detail he was missing; what happened at work that day, what you ate and how you slept. As if he wasn't the one living the adventure. Then in return  he’d recap the night before, how their journey had been, what his review of this city was and what the guys plans for the set were. Tonight’s show was Texas before the band took a week break in California then making their way through the west coast, curving over the top of the country and ending up in Indiana again. You were supposed to meet Eddie in California in a weeks time but some sweet talking to your boss found you on the plane from New York to Austin, Texas. The past month you'd been meeting deadlines early in hopes you could persuade your work to let you finish early and using the California offices before following Eddie on the last leg of the tour. In the months you'd been together you'd discovered one thing; Eddie would do anything for you and loved surprising you. Whether it be as simple as keeping your favourite snacks stocked to cancelling his whole schedule to nurse you when you had tonsillitis to surprising you with your favourite flowers. For once, you wanted to be the one surprising. It had been hard to keep your lips sealed as you heard the broken turn in his voice over the phone when he confessed how much he missed you. It was nearly impossible during last nights phone call when he said he’d call you tomorrow, to not burst into giggles and say he wouldn't need to call.
Eddie was pacing anxiously as he dialled your number for the fifth time only to again be met with torturous rings. He was cursing himself for not having another way of contacting you, for never getting your work or neighbours number incase of emergency. He felt sick, he had heard your voice twice a day for the last thirty-two days, it's what kept him calm everytime he realised he was on tour and all these people were paying to see him. Your soothing voice was the only thing that helped him feel grounded. He was frantic now, rambling round backstage begging anyone to point him in the direction of another phone incase the one he'd been using was faulty. On his third phone he decided this wasn't technical errors - you weren't there. Eddie stared at the phone as the dead line hummed, the jarring noice only adding to his nausea. His mind raced with possibilities, none of them he liked.
Were you okay? Had there been an accident? Did you forget? Were you angry at him?
Eddie hadn't been pushy with the calls, every night he reassured you it was okay if you had plans and couldn't make the call but so far you had everytime without fail. Even when you'd been out you'd found a phone behind the bar, easily charming any staff into letting you use it to call your long distance sweetheart.
The rest of Corroded Coffin watched anxiously at Eddie’s panicked ranting. They knew exactly why you weren't answering but they'd been sworn to secrecy and didn't want to ruin a surprise that he'd be grateful for in two hours time. Once it was show time Eddie felt awful knowing these fans had used their hard earned money to see him, he'd been there before, saving every penny to see his idols. But instead he could barely hear the music or the audience cheers, all he could picture was you hurt: hit by a taxi, fallen down the stairs, mugged, murdered, somewhere alone and in trouble when he should be there to protect you. There was also another horrifying possibility that nagged at Eddie, despite knowing you'd never believe anything, he couldn't help but fret Carla or someone like her had fed you something to make you angry at him. Eddie is grateful the set list had stayed the same, drilled into him so much that playing was instinctual and any mistakes were hidden by the other guys who could see him chewing his lip out the corner of their eyes. By the time the gig has finished, he's running off stage. Shouting a ‘Sorry man!’ at the roadie he just hurled his guitar at. Gareth is quick on his heels, not wanting him to go awol and miss the surprise. Luckily Eddie is back at the phone, rapidly punching in your number before chewing his nails as he's met again with taunting rings. Gareth carefully approaches, careful not to spook his friend.
‘Hey bro… I'm sure there's a totally reasonable explanation. Why don't we head back to the bus?’ He attempts to carefully guide Eddie towards the exit but he digs his heavy boots into the ground.
‘No Gareth! You don't understand! Something is wrong, I know it. I gotta keep trying!’
Gareth sighs, attempting a new tactic.
‘Well if you get on the bus, you can get to the hotel where you can dial to your hearts content from the room. Right?’
Eddie nods his head letting his now red nails find his mouth again as he allows Gareth to tug him along. The rambling continues all the way to the bus door and Gareth is thankful you're not actually in trouble because he's not sure he could cope listening to the improbable situations falling out of Eddie’s mouth such as ‘rats are getting really fucking big in New York now man. What if one got her? What if it came up the fire escape?’
They're in the living area of the bus when Eddie tries to double back and return to the venue,
‘Fuck!’ He whelps, 'shit, I should've called Marissa. Got her to go round and check on y/n. Fuck I gotta go call now!’
Gareth swoops round to barricade the door, attempting to block the exit of his friend who towers over him.
‘Good god man!’ Gareth cries, ‘just go check you've got all your stuff in the room and then we’ll get you to the hotel. There you can call Marissa, the mayor, fuck me, we can even call President Bush and see if he can track her down.
Eddie groans, scowling at Gareth as he opens the door to the bedroom area. He's puzzled to see a smirk spread over Gareth's face before leaving the bus completely. Brow furrowed, Eddie turns to face into the bedroom and his hand drops from the handle.
There you are, perfect and in one piece, just as Eddie left you in New York. Your sat on his bunk wearing a new Corroded Coffin t-shirt from the tour and somehow looking more ethereal than ever. Eddie bounds over to you, the force of his steps and the leap onto the bed causing the bus to shake. You're in fits at giggles over his eagerness, Eddie’s face immediately burying his face into the crook of your neck. He's completely flattened you with his chest whilst he straddles you and you can feel wetness on your neck. Eddie looks up at you his hands grasping either side of your head, stroking back your hair and you can see tears escaping his big brown eyes.
'You're here…’ he barely whispers.
You smile at your sweet boy, your hands now brushing back his curls and fringe so you can take in the face you missed so much.
‘Yeah, Eds. I’m here baby.’
Slowly the shock and overwhelming emotion leaves his face, replaced by his most smitten grin. He dives back into your neck, smothering all exposed skin in kisses between his confessions.
‘I…missed…you…so…much…sweetheart…I can't… believe…you're really…here!’ His kisses and curls tickle you.
‘I missed you too baby. I never even went back to my apartment. Just stayed in yours, needed to be surrounded by all your Eddie-ness.’
He's beaming at your sentimentalism until he remembers the panic he was in just minutes ago. Eddie’s face turns into a childish sulk and he begins to bat at you gently for worrying him.
‘Hey!’ You gasp, ‘what the hells that about!’
‘You scared me! I was so worried! Missed our call! I thought something happened to you’ Eddie moans and you can tell by the look in his eyes how genuinely worried he was. You pull him down to your chest and press kisses to his head.
‘Oh, Eds… I'm so sorry. I didn't think. But I'm here now, yeah? We’re back together now. I needed to see you, couldn't wait any longer.’
Eddie peaks up at you and nods and whispers, 'thank you baby, the best surprise I ever got,’ a dark look comes over his eyes and a smirk appears, ‘wish you'd worn nothing but a bow though.’
Later when you arrive at the hotel, Eddie is dragging you to the room. The second you're through the door he's throwing your bags down, manhandling you and throwing you on the bed before crawling on top of you. Your hands roam his body, desperate to reacquaint how he feels under your touch. Eddie’s eyes are closed in complete bliss as you lean up to kiss him. Instantly your lips melt together, craving to taste each other again. You're both desperate as your tongues meet, eager to get as close as possible. You bite Eddie’s lip as you pull yourself apart to catch your breath.
‘God, I love you,’ he pants.
'I love you too Eds.’
For a while you just look at each other, taking in every little detail of the other that you've missed as hands trail over bodies.
'Shall we get into bed?’ you sigh contentedly. Eddie nods.
Eddie’s breath hitches as you appear from the bathroom wearing nothing but a smile.
‘No pjs sweetheart?’
You shake your head. 'Don't think they'd be staying on long,’ you purr.
A groan leaves Eddie’s throat and his hands grab for you.
‘Get. Here. Now.’
There's no need for him to persuade you, you're skipping over and straddling him immediately. Every part of you has ached for every part of him for over a month. His lips at immediately on your chest, dotting kisses over your breasts and his fingers run over the curves of your body. You sigh blissfully, feeling relaxed finally now your skin is touching.
‘Need you Eddie.’
He murmurs in agreement, feeling the growing wetness from your folds through the thin fabric of his boxers. In return you can feel his aching hardness.
‘Going to fuck your girl good, baby? Like I'm your favourite groupie?’ You chuckle.
Eddie looks up and the look in his eye makes your heart stop, he looks serious but his chocolate eyes full of so much adoration.
‘No sweetheart. I'm going to make love to you, make you feel how much I've needed you with me this whole time.’
A gasp escapes your lips as he carefully flips you over so you're lying down and he hovers above. Lips reuniting in a deep passionate kiss, inhaling the other. Your fingers pull at his waistband and Eddie sighs as his throbbing cock is freed and you sigh at the sensation of your bodies completely bare against each other. Without realising, you're pushing your hips up to feel his length against you, both of you mewling at the friction.
Foreheads pressed against each other as you both whimper as you grind against each other. Wetness covering Eddie’s length as he slides between your folds, catching your clit as he makes each movement.
‘Need-need you inside Ed’ you pant. Eddie tries to compose himself so he can form words.
‘Not… not yet sweetheart. I just - I really need to taste my girl, okay? It's been so long.’
You can only nod as he litters kisses down your sternum, between your breasts, your stomach where he licks a stripe down to your belly button and then continues his kisses until he reaches your mound. Eddie doesn't care, he can't resist burying his nose into your triangle of curls. Inhaling your most natural smell, it's soothing, it's like home. It makes you giggle slightly, endeared at how blissed his face is. Your giggle is stifled as your mouth turns into an ‘O’ as Eddie quickly buries his mouth this time into your folds. His wide tongue lapping you with one broad swipe, his face blissed at the taste of you. Then his mouth finds your clit, suckling it causing your head to fall back against the pillows. The sensation alone nearly unravelling a months worth of pent up sexual frustration. Eddie brings his thumb to replace his lips over your bud as he watches the way your hands seek out your breast, pinching your nipples. He sees how hard you're trying to keep your head up so you can look at him. But regardless of how overwhelming the pleasure is, it's hard to look at Eddie when he's like this, his big eyes dark and sparkling with primal lust and love. Your mouth is agape and your eyelids fluttering as he continues to rub your clit whilst fingers circle your entrance.
'You're so beautiful like this,’ he croons, 'I can't believe somehow I make you feel like this.’
Your hand reaches to caress his face, you're sure he's the most beautiful man you've ever seen.
‘Eddie… no one has ever made me feel like this. No one ever will. My pretty boy.’
The nickname makes him moan and reattach his lips to your clit as he slides a finger inside you. You can see how he's started to rut against the bed and you're longing to make him feel good too. Struggling to speak you manage to whimper out
‘I-I need you… inside b-but it's been a month. Need you to warm me up.’
Eddie freezes and looks up at you, his pupils now fully dilated.
‘A month? Sweetheart… have you not touched yourself since I left?’
You bite your lip, a little embarrassed as you shake your head.
‘No. Wanted to wait for you… it's not the same now I know how it feels with you.’
Eddie isn't sure whether to cum right then and there or cry over how much you need him so he settles with making his girl feel amazing. He slides another finger inside, scissoring them to ready you for his thick cock.
‘Fuck, baby. I don't know what I ever did to get you.’
He fastens his fingers inside you as he returns to sucking your clit. Once he feels your fingertips begin to dig into his scalp and hears how loud your pussy is getting for him, then he knows you're ready.
Eddie comes back up, arms propping him above you. Your mouths meet and you can taste yourself on his tongue, it only makes you more desperate to feel him inside you. You're longing for the closeness and reuniting of your bodies that can only come with feeling his cock within you.
‘Please, please, I need you inside me,’ you beg now.
Eddie spreads your legs further and guides his cock to your entrance. Both of you watch where you finally merge as one. Both moaning at the euphoria of your bodies finally joining again. You cradle each other's faces as he begins to thrust into you, tantalisingly slow. You look at each other adoringly, eyes filled with so much love.
'Nothing compares to you sweetheart,’ Eddie pants.
Eddie takes your thighs, draping them over his shoulders. The new position allows Eddie to bury deep inside you. The feeling is overwhelming filling and you love it, knowing you're physically unable to get closer to him. His movements remain luxuriously drawn out, his tip dragging past your sweet spot each time. You're only left with the ability to mewl, mouth agape. He begins to fasten feeling the way your walls clench him, making his balls clench in return. You reach out to pull him forward, giving you access to kiss and suck his pulse point in his neck causing him to keen your name. But your movement some how manages to bring him even deeper inside you and it makes your body freeze in shock and pleasure.
‘Oh god, Eds… I need you to cum there. Deep. Inside’ you gasp.
His pace fastens but remains as hard, ensuring he completely fills you.'Christ yeah okay baby, god I can feel how full of me you are… look at your belly.’
And he's right, as Eddie hits the deepest he can, your belly bulges with his cock and it makes you whine knowing he's completely taken over your body and heart. The pair of you struggle to look away, only doing so because Eddie's quickening pace has your head falling back.
‘I don't think I can last much longer sweet boy, it's too good,’ you're practically whining.
‘Me neither baby, missed fucking you so much.’
Eddie brings his hand now to rub at your clit and your stomach tightens instantly, your thighs clenching his neck. The noises you make are pornographic and drive Eddie wilder, near folding you in half so he can steal away the noises with a kiss. You make your walls pulse around him to edge him further and it leaves you mouth moaning into each other's open mouths.
'I'm gonna cum Ed,’ you cry, ‘I love you so fucking much.’
He grunts, ‘fuck. Sweetheart say it again please.’
He's thrusting now deep and sloppily, his thumb pressing fast circles into your swollen clit.
‘I love you I love you Eddie,’ you wail as your climax hits you harder than ever before. Your legs spasm round his neck and your fingers tighten round his biceps.
'Jesus fuck I love you too y/n,’ he gasps as he says your name, his cum spurting deep inside you. He shudders and another rope fills your walls.
Eddie collapses on top of you, exhausted after finally spending the cum he'd also been saving for you. You both pant as you brush away his fringe from his eyes. Both of your eyes and drooping, completely fucked out. After a while, he attempts to move but you stop him. He quirks an eyebrow at you.
‘I… I need you to stay inside me. I've missed you so much… just need to stay close.’ Eddie’s heart melts at your need for him, he tucks your wild hair behind your ear before pressing a delicate kiss to the tip of your nose.
'Of course. Anything for you, sweetheart.’
Carefully, he rolls you both over so you're on your sides. One of your legs hooked around his waist, allowing him to stay inside you. Both of your eyes begin to close and his cock softens inside you. Relaxed for the first time in a month now you're reunited, you both fall asleep, bodies intwined.
Everyone can't help but notice how the tour improves drastically with your presence. Eddie has never played better in his life knowing you're metres away, eyes full of awe and pride at your boyfriends talent. The way you fit perfectly into his life like this only adds to the lingering feeling you're meant to spend your lives together. Every night watches how you chatter with the roadies, always offering help, how you make sure the band has always eaten and are feeling good, how you point out shy fans to Eddie and how you love being immersed in the after parties. No bitterness resides you after the Carla situation, the usual girls who follow their shows respect you and apologies for her behaviour. Eddie’s heart melts at the sight of you tipsy and mouthing along to his songs. Then at parties how you fawn over him chatting every bartender and security guards ear off about how the guitarist is your man. That along with the t-shirt you'd shamelessly produced that read ‘PROPERTY OF THE LEAD GUITARIST’, Eddie has never felt so supported, so loved in all his life.
The tour bus had been upgraded with a mattress on the floor for Eddie. He insisted on taking it whilst you took the bottom bunk it was placed alongside. Both your lip reading skills developed rapidly so you could continue to talk to each other long into the night without disturbing the other guys. Unable to fall asleep in each other's arms like you'd both prefer, you found yourselves drifting off; your hand dangling over the edge of the bed so Eddie could hold it all night. More often than not you woke up fingers still intertwined unless Eddie had sneakily pulled you out of your bed overnight so he could feel your full weight on top of him. The guys were deeply grateful for not having sex in the bus so it resulted in you and Eddie getting creative with locations for the few weeks you were on tour. Bathrooms and dressing rooms across the country were marked by you both. Praying the pulsating speakers covered the noises of your moans and Eddie’s balls slapping against you as he bent you over sinks and sofas or propped you up against bathroom stall walls. Eddie insisted he played better knowing his cum was dripping out of you backstage or that you were struggling to stand, legs still trembling after having his face buried in your core.
The final show was in Indiana and butterflies filled you both, knowing the last time he played here is when he met you. It was the most meaningful show of the tour. Neither of you needing to say a word as your hands gripped thinking about it. You went into the crowd to meet the whole gang who'd travelled into the city for the gig. Eddie played like a man possessed, his eyes unable to part from yours the whole time as you stood with everyone he loved most at the barriers in front of the stage. Seven months ago he was performing here in Indiana, not knowing the person he'd spend the rest of his life with was there and now you're stood in front of him, beaming and bopping around. Eddie wonders if this is heaven, convinced this is the greatest sight in the world, watching you carefree and excited just from watching him do what he loves. He watches your face turn to confusion as during the encore he starts with some unfamiliar notes. It's a new song, your song. Eddie wrote it whilst longing for your presence on the first half of the tour. Tears well as you realise this song is describing you. Steve, Dustin and Robin grin seeing the love between the pair of you, thrilled their meddling resulted in their friend getting the love he deserves. As Eddie reaches his solo you mouth 'I love you.’
Never taking his eyes off you, he mouths back 'I love you too, always.’
Eddie can't imagine playing music now without you by his side. The two things that saved him.

It Ain't Me — VoicePlay music video
youtube
The VoicePlay guys are fans of the Book of Mormon. So when an opportunity arose to collaborate with a singer who was about to join the national tour, they were pretty excited. They chose a brand new song, and created an arrangement that shifts the tone from the melancholy regret of the original to unapologetic liberation.
Details:
title: It Ain't Me (feat. John Pinto)
original performers: Kygo & Selena Gomez
written by: Kyrre "Kygo" Gørvell-Dahll, Brian Lee, Ali Tamposi, Selena Gomez, & Andrew Watt
arranged by: Layne Stein & Hannah Juliano
release date: 12 April 2017
My favorite bits:
that beautiful three-part harmony from John, Earl, and Eli with their coordinated breathy offsets
the resonant woodblock-y pops in Layne's percussion line
Geoff's little descending triplet at the end of the first verse
dropping out everything but John's melody and Geoff's bass line to create a feeling of emptiness
the driving rhythm of the choruses
the harmonized tone jump on ♫ "slee-EE-eep" ♫ in the second chorus
Geoff's long notes and slides contrasting against Layne's stacatto percussion in the breakdown section
the ♫ "no no no" ♫ bell chord and the descending run that follows
building the layers from the bottom up
John's soaring, nimble riffs
You don't need extra drums, silly!
ending on pure octaves
all the rehearsal footage and behind the scenes shenanigans
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trivia:
Bringing in John and his lovely countertenor gave the group a trial run at moving Eli into the vacant baritone spot and making a higher voice their permanent fifth member, which was an option they were considering.
This video was filmed at a new location for VoicePlay, Starke Lake Studios in Ocoee.
The YouTube description includes a parody verse: "I had a dream / you were eating something sweet / won't you please share that with me / 'cause I like ice cream. / Lieutenant Dan! Ice Cream!!!"
While John was in town, he made sure to stop by Disney World and take a dip in the Atlantic.
The guys met up again a few months later when the Book of Mormon tour spent three weeks in Salt Lake City, UT, and a week of shows took VoicePlay to nearby Park City.
After two years on the Book of Mormon tour, John joined the Broadway cast in 2019, where he has remained thus far.
John has returned to sing with VoicePlay twice to date, for the "Just Sing" mega-collaboration in 2020, and a gorgeous rendition of "Unchained Melody" the following year.
VoicePlay had included "Hello!" from The Book of Mormon in their "Aca Top 10 – Broadway" countdown, which they also performed in live shows, starting with the 2015 Sing-Off tour.

BURNA BOY REAFFIRMS HIS GREATNESS ONCE MORE WITH "I TOLD THEM..."
Tumblr media
Ever since the stroke of luck or carefully planned commercial move that was the release of "Ye" in January of 2018, Burna Boy has not stopped rising. The song that led to his meteoric rise was a part of his album, Outside which marked his major label debut. With the success of the album shooting him into universal acclaim, he wasted no time in declaring himself the African Giant with a new album released in 2019. He kept with the pace by releasing his fifth studio album which he named, in true smug Burna fashion, Twice as Tall. Five years and a few weeks after that first alignment of stars, Burna is still steady on his grind and as confident as ever with his new body of work, I Told Them…, his fifth album in six years. The title is no doubt drawn from the same self-assured state of mind that the previous ones were.
Burna's greatness shines through from the very beginning of the album as his unique artistry is put fully on display here. He begins with a palm wine music–inspired, slow tempo song with traditional percussion. "I told them", he says and he repeats it, and his delivery is very much "I told you so". It is a clear payback to all those who didn't believe in him. He sings his own praises, calling himself amongst other things; a genius, a giant, the master. GZA, of the legendary Wu Tang Clan, comes in at the end with a spoken word rendition. Burna's self proclaimed genius is evident not only in this song but in the entirety of the album which is a unique blend of different elements and influences, featuring snippets, excerpts and samples from other musical works, banter with friends and phone conversations all carefully curated to create an inimitable work of art.
"On form" for instance, is both Afrobeat and Afrobeats and he mixes English with pidgin and Yoruba. "E no go tire me, nothing we never see", Burna sings, assuring us that he does not plan on quitting anytime soon. Burna travels through time in the earlier released "Sittin' on top of the world" which features a sample of Brandy's 1998 single, "Top of the world". It is a funky delight and a perfect throwback to the vibes of the late '90s and early 2000s.
Is it really a Burna Boy album if it doesn't feature a bit of political activism in some form?. On "Cheat on me", Burna takes a break from the focus on girls and money which occupied most of the earlier tracks, to pass a message about the prejudiced treatment of Africans by foreign governments; "Make embassy no deny my people visa/ No be Taliban, no be Al-Qaeda". Dave makes an appearance here but the potential of his verse is hindered by what could bluntly be described as lazy writing. He borrows multiple rhymes from Burna; "Believer", "Kilometer" and "Visa", using the last to end three different lines. Dave, also Nigerian, missed an opportunity to deliver a resonant, patriotic verse that could perhaps rival that of Skepta in "Dimension". On this song as well, Burna reworks a sample, this time from English singer Kwabs' "Cheating On Me", though this snippet bears only sonic but not thematic connection to Burna's new album. "Big 7" bears a similarity in rhythm to "Sittin' On Top Of The World", calling to mind early hip hop culture while Burna Boy grittily brags that he's been "Wavy since London, wavy since Berlin", referencing European cities from his tours on his journey to world domination.
But despite all of this, Burna is not forgetting his home and people. He takes a quick trip back home with "Giza", an Amapiano track with Seyi Vibes that is simply perfection, beginning with the ethereal sound of the Ney, the Arabian flute, and followed by rapidly mounting, light percussion. Seyi begins the track with characteristic spoken-word rap, and Burna's deep bass glides so smoothly into the second verse that it might take you a second to notice when the baton was passed. On "If I'm lying" Burna returns to foreign soil, this time somber and sincere. His delivery is assisted only by a few guitar strings and toned down Middle Eastern vocalization that gives a naked poignant beauty to the RnB song. Burna puts on no airs here, baring himself to the world. "Everyday I just dey give thanks for life/ Know how to move 'cause I know sacrifice", he begins. Not long after he promises; "If you need a shoulder to cry, then I'll give you mine".
On the next song however, Burna draws from a completely opposite emotion—anger. "Is this the motherfucking thanks I get/ For making my people proud every chance I get", he begins furiously. Like the Dave assisted "Cheat on me", this song too is about his people, but where he had pled on their behalf for respect from the outside world on the previous song, on this one, he berates them for what he believes to be a gross ingratitude for his many gifts, including his founding of Afro Fusion and being the blueprint for other African acts seeking global fame. He confronts them with their accusations and claps back at their threats, sacrificing melody for message, so that the song is not as appealing as most others. "Thanks" features hip hop heavyweight, J. Cole, whose verse would have served better on one of the grander rap-leaning tracks rather than an Afrobeats track that fixes on a domestic squabble between a man and his people.
I Told Them… had been much anticipated since its announcement, but even more so in light of Burna's recent interview with Apple music where he made some controversial statements about Nigerian music's lack of substance. Ironically, many of the songs on his album centre on hedonistic pursuits - Afropop staples. There was talk of "Azul and champagne" in "City Boys", "Rocking your body" in "On Form" and in "Normal", he makes us know that none of this is excessive in his book. But this is Burna Boy, and flippant and dismissive comments are not a new thing coming from him. And perhaps he could be exonerated on the grounds that he is one of the few artists in the business who regularly ventures out of that banal box to create timeless pieces of art.
With I Told Them… Burna Boy manages to pull off what many African artists have failed and are still failing at; creating a sound that will tie two worlds together. He not only does this effortlessly but even manages to bring in slices of different subcultures - African-American hip hop, Afrobeat, Afrobeats, Reggae fusion, Amapiano and RnB. The album is a patchwork of cultures, it is Burna's journey through space and time collecting bits and pieces here and there for an enduring album. I Told Them… is Burna taking another giant step across continental waters to claim new territory whilst still managing to carry along his already conquered turfs, putting his versatility and ingenuity on full display for the world to see. The African Giant need not try to tell us of his greatness anymore as he has proven it to us time and time again. But knowing Burna, there is no doubt that he will continue to.

Twice "Ready to Be" - My first ever concert experience!
October 1, 2023 - I attended my first ever concert. The whole experience was exhilarating, fun, and my voice was hoarse for a week but I'd happily do it all over again (I'll be getting a closer seat next time!)
FOR CONTEXT - I started liking K-pop way back 2013 when my friends performed I got a Boy by Girls Generation during our school's Foundation Day when we were in our third year high school. Even though I don't understand the lyrics, I think what got me hooked with it was the vibe, beat, and how powerful some K-pop songs were. My K-pop playlist is my go-to in Spotify whenever I need a booster whenever I feel sleepy or I need to get things done at work.
I have been a Badminton player ever since I was in fifth grade. My parents are also Badminton players and they greatly influenced me to play the sport. My parents are members of a Badminton group where majority of the other members are their friends. It was only me and another kid that belonged to the "younger members" list but there was a time where we met a group of teenagers in the Badminton court where we usually go to. They played with us and then we invited them to join our group and they gladly accepted. In that group, I met my so-called "Badminton crush" (but this is all in the past now, okay? Haha) and one time during our quarterly Badminton tournament, he brought his own speakers and played Heart Shaker by Twice while I was warming up before my game. I saw him dancing the steps while laughing with his friends and found it cute that's why I got curious about the song and the artist and that's how I started to know and liked Twice. I think this was around 2019-2020?
And by the way, my bias in Twice (favorite singer or band member in an idol group) is Dahyun but I love the other members too!
FAST FORWARD - February 2023, JYP Entertainment announced that Twice will be having their third world tour and Philippines is included in their Southeast Asia stops. I got excited because the last time that they came to the Philippines, I was not able to secure a ticket. I just felt happy that they are coming back here and I wondered if I can go to their concert but also feared that I cannot be able to because my parents would be angry with me if they knew that I bought a concert ticket (I don't hate them for that but I grew up not having most of what I wanted when I was younger because for them it is a waste of money).
Early June 2023, I got the news that I will be laid off. I was so lost that time because I have no plans of resigning from my position any time soon because I was actually supposed to be trained for a promotion but unfortunately, they had to hire people from a different agency which meant that they had to let some people go to make room for those and I was one of them.
I received what they called a "retirement package" or compensation for the employees that got laid off. It was enough to last me for a bit (This is considering all my bills for a month and it could easily last me for at least 6-8 months if ever I don't get a job quickly) so I started considering buying a ticket. I had the money that time but I am worried to go alone because it was my first time so there are a lot of things that I do not know yet. I don't know if it was fate (but maybe it was) because my bestfriend Lolyn told me that she wants to go to the concert too. Now both of my problems are resolved - I have money and someone to go to the concert with.
The ticket selling for their show on September 30 was scheduled last June 15. I was having my PC professionally cleaned that time so I queued at exactly 10 am in the shop using my cellular data for the ticket selling but I got placed 64000th. I already lost hope because I think in less than an hour the concert was already declared sold out.
After I got home, I saw in Facebook that they will be having another show on October 1 and another round of ticket selling for it last June 16. Lolyn and I came up with several ideas on how we can get tickets - we contacted someone to help us find a valid session link and they will give it to us (It's not illegal but for those that were able to get into the website early, their session is still valid for I think 10 minutes and they can share it with other people so that they can buy tickets as well without having to queue) and then we queued on all our available devices.
June 16 came and then I asked my sisters (they're twins, by the way) to help me out. It was nerve-wracking because every link that we tried always cuts off midway due to network traffic but luckily, the session that was on my PC went through and I immediately got 2 tickets for me and Lolyn. I was crying that time because I was nervous as heck and then I laughed it off after I received the online receipt because it was a success!
D-DAY - Concert day came and I wasn't able to get some sleep hahaha. I went to Lolyn's house because her sister is going to drive us there. There were four of us attending - Lolyn, me, her sister, and their family friend. I bought their light stick or "Candybong" (the name of the Twice' light stick), their only official merch that I have. We got to the venue early because we aimed to get a good parking spot. We got some food from Burger King in the gas station near the venue (Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan) and then we ate it in the car after settling down. The doors are scheduled to open at 5pm (if I remember correctly) because the show will start at 6pm. After eating and then staying in the car until around 3pm, we decided to go out and line up. We got a bit lost because there's so many Onces in the venue but we eventually found where we need to line up. While on the line, there were a lot of Onces with freebies so we got some! We got stickers, bracelets, and headbands!
CONCERT EXPERIENCE - The whole 3 hours that they were performing, I was always shouting. I can hear my seatmates laughing because of loud I was but I can't help it hahaha. Every member performed their special numbers and there were also parts where they performed as a group or by threes (since there are nine Twice members in total). Aside from shouting, I sang my heart out, jumped, participated in the wave (there's this thing with K-pop concerts where they start a wave using their light sticks and the crowd will follow), caught some confettis as souvenir, and took lots and lots of pictures and videos.
There are times that I felt the whole arena moving with us as we jump hahahaha and its definitely one of those moments where I felt the most alive. I was so happy being a part of that ocean that day.
Thank you, Twice!
In the next post, I'll share some pictures and clips of me that day!

Ranting and Raving: "With a Little Luck" by Wings
youtube
If Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney, and Denny Laine each got a nickel for every time their band, Wings, was reduced to just the three of them, they’d each have two nickels. Not a lot (only thirty cents to share between them), but wild that it happened twice. Even more wild is that both times, it was a lead guitarist and drummer that left them. The first time was right before making their 1973 album Band on the Run and the second time was right before 1978’s London Town appeared.
Wings was no stranger to lineup changes, but after the lineup of the McCartneys, Laine, guitarist Jimmy McColloch, and drummer Joe English was solidified in 1975, it looked like Paul might have finally found his band that was gonna last... it didn’t, but it was the lineup that lasted the longest, so Paul had every reason to think this was gonna be the one.
The making of London Town didn’t go initially as planned. Paul had planned for 1977 to be another big year after Wings had back-to-back successes with Wings At the Speed of Sound and a massive world tour (captured on the Wings Over America live album) the year before. A new album, a new tour, a combo meal with all the fixins. Plans for another Wings tour were immediately off the table when Linda found out she was pregnant with her and Paul’s third child. London Town was initially being recorded at Abbey Road Studios, but now that plans for touring were off and they had all the time in the world, Paul decided that Abbey Road was too boring, too expected. So, because Paul can’t seem to do anything without gettin’ weird with it, he decides the band should take a month to play and record songs in a studio installed on a yacht in the Virgin Islands. Sure! Why the hell not?
They kept working on the album but they halted production as Linda’s pregnancy progressed, eventually returning to it towards the end of the year. That big year Paul had planned for Wings didn’t exactly happen, but they did manage to release a single in November that did really well (it was “Mull of Kintyre,” which for a time was the biggest selling single in U.K. Chart history until Band Aid’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas” dethroned it in 1984).
That victory was short-lived due to 2/5ths of the band leaving with no warning.
Jimmy McColloch hightailed it, ditching Wings to join up with the newly reformed Small Faces and Joe English, growing homesick for America, also disappeared. Both of them can still be heard on a lot of the songs on London Town, however, McColloch is definitely not here and English might be (keyword: “might”) present for “With a Little Luck,” one of the best songs on the album, an underrated gem from Wings’ later years, and our subject today.
Before we get into the song proper, let’s clear one thing up. I said Joe English might be here only because nothing I could find really gave me a straight answer on whether he was still around for this song or not. The liner notes credit him as the drummer on the album... but Paul is also credited as the drummer on the album, so that was no help. A fansite called “The Paul McCartney Project”––a pretty good place to go if you’re looking for info regarding specific dates and sessions and all that stuff––couldn’t seem to decide either, putting a “(?)” next to both of their names when crediting drums for the song. Gun to my head, I’d tell you Paul probably did it and this was a song that got started when Wings was five members, but definitely finished when Paul, Linda, and Denny became a trio again. Several songs on the album like “Cafe on the Left Bank” and “I’ve Had Enough” sound like a full band, “With a Little Luck” does not.
“With a Little Luck” was the lead single for London Town and became their fifth number one hit in the U.S. Out of every song on the album, it’s admittedly an odd choice to lead with, but one that ultimately proved to be the right move. Prior to the song hitting number one in late May 1978, the U.S. had been enduring a chart chokehold from the Bee Gees, who were enjoying a successful run not seen since the Beatles landed in 1964 (when “With a Little Luck” came out, five songs on the Hot 100 were written by Barry Gibb and involved him in some way). With that little fact in mind, it’s funny that a Beatle was the one that dethroned the disco kings. But what’s also interesting is that it was “With a Little Luck” of all songs that did it. Part of it is probably due to the fact that Wings had been flying high and doing so well for the last few years that anything they did after a break would’ve gotten attention. It could also be that while the U.S. was knee-deep in the disco craze, Paul was offering something completely against the trends of the day. It was even stranger in the U.K., where this song came out amidst the excitement of the new wave and the energetic anger of the punk scene, both of which were thriving and taking control of the airwaves. So when you look at what was going on around the time of this song’s release, it doesn’t really fit snugly in too many places. It’s a strange one, which is probably one reason why it sticks out to me so much. It doesn’t really fit into anything going on at the moment and it doesn’t even sound like the rest of Wings’ big hits.
Musically, it’s a breezy soft-rock song that’s made up almost entirely of synthesizers and keyboards. Against the rock songs and the more acoustic numbers on London Town (songs like “I’m Carrying”, “Famous Groupies”, and “Deliver Your Children”) “With a Little Luck” almost feels like a final experiment that was tacked on near the end of the album’s production. It’s a song that feels like it was designed to try and prove that the McCartneys and Laine only needed each other in order to make a hit. Jimmy McColloch’s lead guitar has been fully replaced with keyboards and the drum track is so basic, so muted, and so low in the mix that it feels non-existent at points. It almost sounds like it could be a drum machine, that’s how basic it is, but I’m almost certain that’s Paul playing and not Joe English. Paul was never really a great drummer (he’s passable) and it sounds pretty amateurish when compared with the work English did for Wings. I’ll die on the hill that it’s Paul playing here.
Anyway, most of the song sounds like Paul trying to do what 10cc’s “I’m Not in Love” achieved a few years prior. A soft-rock piece that uses keyboards to build atmosphere and deliver a great melody along with it. On top of that, he’s also very clearly dusting off some plays from the ol’ Beach Boys playbook for the bridge. The way the backing vocals enter after McCartney sings “There is no end to what we can do together” (together oooooh), the way the trio rise when they each repeat the line “there is no end”, and the way the backing vocals repeat “With a little luck, with a little luck / With a little luck, a little luck, a little luck” while Paul leaves “ballad singer” mode and starts getting a little soulful with it (“with a little luck, baby”). All those bits feel like things that would’ve perked Brian Wilson right up. This was around the point where you can tell Linda was comfortable as a singer in the band and I think she, Paul, and Denny always made a great vocal team. This whole song is a good example of that team on display.
What makes a strange little song like this work are all the little parts throughout that make up the sum, and there’s so many little parts here that are worth pointing out. Those quick four little notes that follow the first two held notes at the start. That little intro rules and it’s only ever played at the beginning. That little wave sound that very softly wooshes by and connects the verses to the bridge is super easy to miss (I didn’t hear it until really studying the song for this), but I think it’s a nice little touch and it adds something to find when doing repeated listens. That little keyboard solo three and a half minutes in (that only exists on the album version) that lasts for about five seconds is a cool little part. The instrumental break that starts off with a keyboard and the kick drum making a heartbeat, then builds back up for a minute and a half before Paul leads the band back into the verse one final time is great. There are certainly more electrifying and exciting Wings songs, but I think this one gets to enjoy being a bit laid back, a bit easy-listening, and let all the little moments add up to something satisfying. This is one of those songs where you’re taking it all in piece by piece as opposed to waiting for that one big moment. Contrast this song with something like “Live and Let Die” (another Wings song I wrote about, which you can find here... *wink wink, nudge nudge*) where the song’s “big moments” are the explosion of sound after he drops the title and the song randomly turning into a reggae song for a short bit.
Lyrically, this is a simple song about unshakable optimism. It argues exactly what it says on the tin: With a little luck and a little love, we can persevere and do anything! It’s a song about keeping a positive, “can do!” attitude no matter what. It’s pure McCartney in that it’s him at his absolute corniest, but it’s a kind of corniness that he’s always been able to sell with sincerity and a big goofy smile attached. It’s a big part of the guy’s appeal and what makes him a lovable guy. The man who made a career for more than half a century being the “Silly Love Songs” dork has never struck me as being worried about his cool factor. As a major “a-Paul-ogist” (heh heh) I can forgive the sillier lyrics in Paul’s body of work, but I get why people would groan and roll their eyes at this one. If you tried selling lyrics like these today to a 2024 audience, you’d get ridiculed, roasted, and told nasty things that I can’t write without a warning attached. Especially now, since we’re in a time where cynicism seems to be the only mode people can operate on these days (some of it is very warranted, some of it just reveals that there are people who have never experienced even an ounce of joy). Here’s the bridge:
There is no end to what we can do together There is no end, there is no end The willow turns his back on inclement weather And if he can do it, we can do it
I’ll say this: Paul using a bird migrating for the winter as an analogy for maintaining optimism is admittedly silly, but Paul seems to have always had a thing for using birds in lyrics (examples include: “Blackbird” with the Beatles, “Bluebird” with Wings, “Long Tailed Winter Bird” from McCartney III). I think what prevents the song from being so corny that it veers into stupid, hippy-dippy bullshit is that I like that Paul genuinely believes what he’s saying. I love that part right before it gets to the instrumental break and Paul lets out, “We could shake it up, oh yeah, yeah.” It’s great! It’s fun! How are you gonna sit there and really get mad at this kind of message?
With a little luck we can help it out We can make this whole damn thing work out With a little love we can lay it down Can't you feel the town exploding? ... With a little push we could set it off We can send it rocketing skywards With a little love we could shake it up Don't you feel the comet exploding?
It’s a nice sentiment. Adding to the genuine belief of the vocal delivery, I love how the longer the song goes, the more passionate Paul’s vocals become. He goes from soft-spoken in the first verse to slowly gaining more and more grit and gravel as it goes, until he’s practically belting by the time the song reaches its last moments. I chuckle and enjoy any time Paul was able to insert a reference to flying or the band’s name in songs. There’s two of them in this: “We can bring it in for a landing” and “We could set it off, send it rocketing skywards.” Again, it’s the little parts that make up the sum of this song.
This isn’t one of Wings’ most beloved hits, but I continue to like this song simply because it’s a good, uplifting pick-me-up and sometimes you just need a song to do that for you. It’s a song that refuses to get bogged down in negativity. It refuses to dwell on the bad and it focuses on the bright side, which I think is needed sometimes, especially now that we’re faced with constant news of how bad everything is. If we can’t have any ounce of optimism in our lives or hope that things can get better, then what’s the fucking point of sticking around? This song is a good reminder that we need to keep our heads up and keep going. Plus, it taught me what the word “inclement” was when I first heard this as a kid, so you can add “educational” to its list of qualities.
I think the song’s attitude of dusting yourself off and keeping yourself going despite the odds is presented well because that’s exactly what the trio of the McCartneys and Denny were doing when this song became a hit. The big year they had planned didn’t go their way and two of their bandmates decided to cut and run. Now, granted, I imagine they were a bit more optimistic and okay with it than others would’ve been, considering it had happened before, but it’s never easy to bounce back from something like that. I think this song proves they dealt with that inclement weather in style and came out of it with a fun little song that proved they could still score a hit, with or without certain members.
Paul sings, “We can make this whole damn thing work out” and they did. The band figured out how to adapt and keep going. If you want a sailing metaphor (which would fit, since parts of London Town were recorded on a yacht-turned-studio), the Wings ship was facing choppy seas, but the crew stood firm during the storm and rode it out until the waters calmed down and they could see the sun rising in the sky. It can be hard to find reasons to keep going sometimes, especially when things look really bleak and nothing seems to be going right, but sometimes, the only answer is to pick your head up and keep going, even if you’re not fully sure how to go about making it better. “With a Little Luck” suggests that with a little luck, a little love, and a little push, you can set it off and make something good happen.
After all, if they can do it, we can do it.
