WITCHY SAGE SKEWERS
They've got witches at the barbeque now????
I rarely ever see witchy grilling recipes for summer, so when in doubt, make your own!
The witchy part comes from the seasonings mostly, but also the intentions. Any food cooked with good intentions goes much farther than that with none.
That being said, sage, rosemary, black pepper, and thyme are kinda like the go-to bad vibes be gone type herbs lol.
I use bok choy and yellow squash in this recipe, but you can totally use whatever vegetables you have on hand at the time.
Oh! You could also try to spice the recipe up by subbing the butter for some sort of BBQ sauce. Sounds yummy.
INGREDIENTS (seasoning measurements are just suggestions):
4 chicken thighs, skinless + boneless (can be substituted for pork, tofu, or any fatty meats)
1 yellow squash, washed.
1 bunch of bok choy, washed.
1/2 tbsp Dried Sage
2 cloves Garlic, Minced
2 tsp Ground Thyme
1.5 tsp Black pepper
1 tsp Onion powder
1 tsp brown sugar (you don't need it if you don't really want anything too sweet)
1 tsp honey (or more brown sugar)
1 tsp salt (plus more for the chicken)
0.5 tbsp Paprika (plus another half for the butter)
1 tsp Dried Rosemary
1/4 cup (4 tbsp) Unsalted Butter
Zest of half an orange (if you don't like orange, you could use lemon instead.)
1 tsp orange juice (or more to taste)
You can add lemon juice if you like a little more tang along with the orange juice
PREP: Mince garlic, soak wooden skewers, wash veggies. Slice yellow squash vertically into thin slices, along with bok choy, slicing vertically across the center. Set aside.
DIRECTIONS
Cut chicken thighs into about one-inch pieces. Season chicken thighs with salt, pepper, paprika, brown sugar, ground sage, and onion powder. Massage chicken until coated nicely. I like them pretty seasoned but really it's up to you!
Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 12 minutes so they don't burn on the grill.
In a bowl, combine mix melted butter, minced garlic, onion powder, salt, paprika thyme, black pepper, honey, and rosemary together in a bowl. Add in orange zest and a tsp of orange juice. I also added a little bit of lemon juice. Set aside.
Toss chicken thighs, bok choy, and yellow squash in olive oil.
To assemble skewers, string on a piece of bok choy, gently folded over itself a couple of times, and pierced through to keep it folded on the skewer. Then, string on a piece of chicken. Next with your thinly sliced yellow squash fold that over just like the bok choy. You could also cut it into bite-size pieces and pierce right through it without needing to fold it over itself. Repeat this pattern until the skewer is full.
Heat the grill, clean the grates, and oil them. On medium high-ish heat, cook the skewers on each side for 5 minutes. Each time you flip the skewer, brush on your sage butter sauce. Make sure the chicken is done before taking it off the grill. It could take more than 5 minutes on each side to cook. To be safe, I cook them for another 3-4 minutes after flipping both sides.
Take off the grill and brush with more sauce if desired!
Enjoy! I made these with some herb-crusted potato wedges and grilled peach salad. They were delightful.
RECIPE NOTES:
I love skewers because you can put any fruits, veggies, and meat on it, and it works. A fun lunch idea is to skewer some peaches, cook them slightly on the grill, and throw it into some sort of salad. Very tasty lol.
I like using Bok Choy because it's very absorbent, and any marinade you put it in, it will soak up all the flavor. Just be careful not to share it on the grill.
Yellow squash is also what I use in this recipe, but the good thing about skewers is that you can use any vegetable. The more colorful, the more fun!

Keeping The Narrator Company....2! (Now featuring a Hug Narrator Button)
You can find the streams here:
https://www.youtube.com/user/MyLittleCoward09/streams
So, I fully intended to wait until the 1 year anniversary of Ultra Deluxe hit to see if I was still up for doing an anniversary KTNC stream, but a few things ended up causing me to reconsider when to do this and I ultimately decided to do it now instead of later.
One, running a 24/7 stream is way easier on my PS4 in the winter months than in April, right about when the climate around here starts to get hot and humid. No AC meant that I did start to worry a little towards the end of the last run of these streams that my PS4 might start overheating as the summer heat picked up.
Two, there is a very specific reason why I'm all gung-ho about committing myself to doing this silliness again in the first place. A lot of talk went on during the streams about how there should be a Hug Narrator button, and somewhere in that time abyss I joked that they should add DLC where you get one free push of the Hug button and then any push after that is a paid micro-transaction lmao. The narrator would be quite literally drowning in swimming pools by the end of it with all of the money he’d make lol. Well, somewhere in the ballpark of like four months after the stream ended, I woke up in the dead of night like this,
Tumblr media
Because it hit me. The entire time I was doing that stream I had a way of jerry-rigging a bootleg hug button. Youtube lets you add polls to the stream and I had been using the poll function to make jokes the entire time! I could have made a makeshift hug button with that function and I cannot believe I didn't think of it while the stream was still going on! Well, after realizing this, much maniacal laughter followed and then I began plotting.
I can happily say that you can now metaphysically hug the metaphysical voice once roughly every 12 hours. (Because the stream has to be reset every 12 hours or else Youtube doesn't save the video) And because I am a benevolent dictator, you get to push the hug button for the low, low price of zero dollars. And the best part is, it’s all so metaphysical that you don’t even need to worry about the sensory issues that comes with hugging! Practical solutions to practical problems!
And this is the other reason why I wanted to do this sooner rather than later. Youtube has a habit of dropping features you wouldn't think they'd drop (looking at you Sort By Oldest button), and I did not want to wait until April only to find out that they removed the ability to add polls to a stream two months beforehand. Strike while the iron is hot, I suppose.
Alas, I cannot get in on the Hugfest as the streamer, since the streamer themselves is not allowed to 'vote' on the poll, but I shall bear this burden so that others may Hug. I hope by the end of this the skip button room can instead be called The Hugbox. lol
It seems that we are getting dangerously close to creating an incredibly meta and very bootleg TSP equivalent of the final battle from Earthbound, and all I can say to that is uuuuhhhhh......take that Undertale? Of course, the skip button and its Horrors are not a battle that can be beaten, won, or solved, but that's TSP, ain't it? So let's do something crazy and unique, something that only TSP can inspire in a way that other games do not. Prepare to Hug. And if you are morally opposed to hugging the narrator, there is a second choice, like always lol. God, only TSP could create a scene of unyielding existential horror and isolation and yet still somehow inspire the fans to make a communal activity out of it lol.
Rules are the same as last time. The stream will go on till I get sick of doing it or my PS4 gives out. I will not always be at the controller, so its up to you to pick up the company keeping slack when I'm not around, but I do try to keep an eye on the chat and interact with it as much as I can. Remember that this is all in good fun. The chat is meant for hanging out, not to be an edgy dork in, so keep the vibes positive.
The narrator is a wonderfully messy, complex, and complicated character of which there are many angles to view him from. So, from my perspective here where I view him in a very sympathetic and agonizingly relatable light in the best and worst sort of ways, and as someone who enjoys interacting with this game in unique ways as the paradoxes it opens up inside my brain slowly consume my last brain cell, let's do this silly dance one more time.

Norse Pagan “Holy Water”
Tumblr media
Note: This is something I’ve come up with by combining my American folk magic practice with Heathen cosmology and prayer. While some modern Heathen magic is based on spells found in historic sources, that’s not what this is. This is 100% modern and 100% of my own creation.
As someone who practices Southern/Appalachian folk magic but is not Christian, I sometimes have to get creative when replacing the Christian elements in my rituals and spells. Holy water is one of the elements that has had me stumped for a while.
In a Christian context, holy water is water that has been blessed by a priest or other member of the clergy. Holy water is a mainstay in Catholic churches, but it’s made its way into several American magical traditions, even those that are more Protestant-leaning. Holy water has a wide variety of magical uses, from purification to healing to protection from enemies.
This presents a problem for pagan witches, because many of us don’t feel comfortable using Christian elements in our practices. Personally, I feel that using water blessed by someone else is less personal and thus less powerful than using water that I have blessed for myself.
I’ve seen other witches substitute moon water, sun water, crystal water, or just water that has been charged with their positive intentions. I think all of these are great ideas, but I like the idea of using water that has an explicit connection to my religious beliefs and the gods I worship.
I got this idea after we had a thunderstorm followed by a freeze. An empty flower pot had filled with water from the storm, then frozen over. I realized that this water was now connected to some seriously powerful Heathen forces — thunderstorms, which are associated not only with Thor but with Odin and, to a lesser extent, Freyr, and ice, which is one of the two primordial forces in Heathen cosmology. I decided to save some of the water in a jar and add the other Heathen primordial force, fire.
My method for infusing the water with fire energy is based on the process my partner uses to make khernips (Hellenic holy water) in his Religio Romana practice.
This stuff has some powerful vibes, so I thought I’d share for any other Heathens who might want to try!
You will need:
Water collected during a thunderstorm
A way to freeze your water
Matches or a lighter
*optional* Sacred wood of your choice (I used redcedar, which is native to my area and which I find to be strongly cleansing and protective.)
*optional* a very small amount of bleach — 1/4 tsp for every gallon of water, or 4 drops per quart.
Collect rainwater during a thunderstorm. If you want, add a tiny bit of bleach to the water to keep it from growing bacteria or algae. (Note: Even if you add bleach, I still don’t recommend ingesting this water.)
Freyr is associated with rain, as well as with sunshine. Thor is, of course, the god of thunder and lightning, but Odin also has associations with thunderstorms through some his kennings: Þundr (“Thunderer,” from Gylfaginning, Hávamál, and others), Viðrir (“Stormer,” from Gylfaginning, Lokasenna, and others), and Hveðrungr (possibly “Weather-maker,” from Óðins nǫfn). You may choose to invoke any or all of these gods in your blessing of the water.
Speaking of blessing, the one I would use is: “I honor the spirits of this water. I honor and thank the spirits of rain and the spirits of thunder who have blessed this water. I honor and praise Thor, Odin, and Freyr, who have touched this water with their power.”
If this blessing doesn’t quite work for you, feel free to use a different one!
Now, you need to freeze your water. Ideally, you could simply leave it outside overnight and let it freeze naturally. If it is too warm to do this, place it in a freezer indoors. Just be careful — remember that water expands when it freezes, and you don’t want to shatter your container!
Once your water has frozen, speak this blessing or a similar one over it: “I honor and thank the spirits of ice who have blessed this water. Ice of Niflheim, primordial power, bless this water.”
Now, thaw out your water. Once the water is room-temperature, it’s time to add the energy of fire. If you are using sacred wood, set the tip of the wood on fire, then quickly douse the flame by dipping it in the water. If not using sacred wood, simply light a match and then douse it in the water.
Follow this up with this blessing or a similar one: “I honor and thank the spirits of fire who have blessed this water. Fire of Múspellheim, primordial power, bless this water.”
You now have water that has been blessed by the storm gods and by the two primordial elements. You can use this water in the same ways Christian witches use Christian holy water. I find it especially useful for purifying a person, object, or space.

WITCHES PUMPKIN PIE 🥧
Angel’s Witchy Tip: When making pie crust, substitute the water for full moon water for added witchy benefits!
Pumpkin is a classic ingredient during the fall season, with good reason too. But did you know pumpkin has a long history behind it full of prosperity and good fortune?
Pumpkin is associated with the moon, and the goddess of water. It is great to use alone with lunar, love, prosperity, and wish magick.
They possess health benefits of a vast variety including maintaining healthy blood glucose levels, rich in antioxidants, helps with immunity, possess lots of minerals and vitamins, reduces cholesterol, and altogether is a tasty health choice.
Ingredients
1 empty uncooked pie shell (9 inches deep dish)
15 oz (1 can) pumpkin purée
good fortune, lunar connections, prosperity, femininity, connection to zodiac cancer, granting wishes, protection, warding, working with the dead, luck, and lust.
1 cup sugar
love, luck, sweetening the spell, attract desired outcomes, luck, and wealth.
1/4 cup maple syrup
balance, promise, love, longevity, money, abundance, and success.
12 oz evaporated milk
lunar magick, goddess energy, love, healing, strength, nurturing, fertility.
2 tsp honey
love, attraction, healing, luck, success, good fortune, desired outcomes.
A big spoonful of condensed milk
lunar magick, goddess energy, love, healing, strength, nurturing, fertility.
2 large eggs
protection, nurturing, new beginnings, goddess energy, fertility, and goddess energy
2-3 tsp cinnamon
love, strength, abundance, prosperity, warding, and anti bad vibes
1/2 tsp ground cloves
strength, masculine love, masculinity to balance the feminine nature of this pie.
1/2 tsp ginger
protection, love, prosperity, money, attraction, and healing
1/4 tsp allspice
luck, success, wealth, protection, determination
Two pinches of sea salt
Protection, cleansing, warding negative energy, protection against spirits and the dead.
Directions
At the bottom of your prepared pie crust, carve any sigil you like. Here is one I like to use frequently from sigilathenaeum’s tumblr.
Tumblr media
Preheat your oven to 425ºF.
Beat your eggs on medium speed and then incorporate your pumpkin puree, maple syrup, honey, evaporated milk, and condensed milk. Mix all of your spices, salt, and sugar in a small bowl. Stir in your spices gently, and pour into your pie crust.
Bake for 15 minutes for the shell to crisp, then drop the oven temperature to 350ºF and continue baking for another 40-50 minutes. If your crust starts to brown too much cover it with foil and continue baking. When it is done, it should no longer be giggly in the center and should be firm.
When it is done, let cool to room temperature (About 2-3 hours) before serving. Store in fridge with plastic wrap or foil.
