tbh a fascinating part of mcyt is how you can have characters fully divorced from the person playing them alongside people who are barely rping at all. in the same way that your d&d session might have the most intrictately written out OC alongside one player who is just playing themselves with a sword.
like i cant confidently list many traits of joe hills that arent shared between both their minecraft character and real-world self aside from, like, maybe owning that shirt and being able to use an elytra. but they also exist in the same universe as zombiecleo, a canonically undead zombie person, who exists in the same universe as mythical sausage, a dimension hopping animal whisperer, who exists in the same universe as xornoth, who doesnt have a real world equivilent.
so you kinda have to all or nothing it. because you cant exactly draw a line between the fictional characters and the guys playing minecraft when they're all like one server hop away from sharing lunch lmAO.

alphinaud and alisaie are an example of siblings written by people who know siblings very well and choose to have them call each other brother and sister, proving that telling people not to write this quirk because it gives away that you’re an only child is just shorthand for how it’s a common warning indicator of thoughtless sibling writing and isn’t actually the problem itself

thinking about your actor au ... thinking about Hunter not being allowed to be his natural healthy body weight. thinking about his scars getting covered with make-up. thinking about the gap in his teeth getting edited away whenever possible. thinking about Amity having to appear Perfect at all times. thinking about Luz and Willow probably getting their hair straightened before filming. thinking about all of them getting dressed a certain way for Marketability. THINKING. VERY HARD.

Willow didn't even know Hunter had scars until after knowing him for MONTHS because whenever she saw him he was always caked in makeup. Nobody ever noticed when he got a new one.
Hunter wears a dental flipper. Which is basically just a set of false upper teeth that he clips in over his real ones.
Amity is under heaps of stress to perform well in school, to keep up with her acting classes, to stay on top of work, to never appear as tired or overwhelmed, to keep her reputation squeaky.
You read my mind about the hair!! They DO straighten it!! Luz isn't an actor but just like in canon, she fries it to fit in better. All the characters she admires on TV have straight hair.
And I'm so sorry to give this bit of info about Willow but...early on in this AU, she really does not like the way she looks. At all. She's very insecure about it. Tons of young girls fall victim to an inferiority complex from the conventional Hollywood beauty standard but also. It is so SO much worse if you're an actress. And you constantly feel out of place. So Willow allows her big poofy curly hair to be straightened. Braided. Tied back. Whatever they feel like they need to do to make her more palatable to their audience. She's such a doormat before she meets Luz.
They ARE dressed a certain way. Modest. Colourful. Flashy and child friendly. An insane amount of layers and chunky accessories.
But Willow is very aware that the people in wardrobe are way more enthusiastic to dress Amity than her. They dress the two girls distinctly differently. Both aren't allowed to show too much skin but she can't help but notice that sometimes Amity gets to wear tank tops. Or skirts without leggings. But never Willow. It seems like Willow always has to be covered.
She doesn't want to show her bare arms. Or bare legs. She really really really doesn't. So she should be relieved they don't make her, right?
Well....its complicated. Because even if she does not want to dress like Amity at all, it really does reinforce her inkling suspicion. There is something wrong with the way she looks and people want to keep her covered. It's hurts. It hurts quite a lot.

The intimacy in both recognitions‚ as well as the intimacy in both acts of passing on knowledge#Jingliu didn't teach Yanqing#Are we to believe he picked up that last move in the boss fight against Dan Heng and Blade from this moment with her?#idk perhaps that's the intention but I always thought it was Jing Yuan teaching him this last grand move#similar to what he used against Jingliu in that one short. It makes more sense to me and I find it moving#That the taught Yanqing so closely to her teachings that Blade could recognise her#And it's moving too that in one comment Jingliu sees in this wide eyed young boy the traces of Jing Yuan#I like too that she recognises Jing Yuan's way of thinking and machinations and Blade sees her swordmanship#The two traits at which they excel is what shows on Yanqing. Which I think is at the same time telling of Jing Yuan's way of teaching#(if we take Yanqing didn't learn the move from Jingliu)#Ugh I got carried away again. Jing Yuan is aware he isn't a natural at all and Jingliu states this as well#But for Yanqing Jing Yuan is the best. That all gives us a lot of information. I have mentioned the censorship of Sistermon Noir at length before, but cards featuring her are actually not the only ones that got censored.
Both Deputymon (jap. Revolvermon) and Gundramon from BT6 had their cards censored to an extend. In Deputymon's case the smoking gun had its smoke removed, while Gundramon both had the smoking gun's smoke as well as the bullet hole removed.

I know that for children media, there's an important difference between "cartoon violence" and realistic violence. This could, for example, make Beelzemon's Blaster Gun okay, but not Deputymon's because it's just a straight-up real revolver. So I wonder if they later decided not to censor guns at all or if they decided Gundramon's gun is cartoonish enough after all to pass.

#BEGONE!!! *wizard beam blast leaving a black smoking crater in the middle of the tumblr dashboard*#I think another downside to everyone doing everything on phone apps on shitty tiny screens nowadays is the inability to really see details#of an image and thus its easier to share BLATANTLY fake things like.. even 'good' ai art has pretty obvious tells at this point#but especially MOST of it is not even 'good' and will have details that are clearly off or lines that dont make sense/uneven (like the imag#of a house interior and in the corner there's a cabinet and it has handles as if it has doors that open but there#are no actual doors visible. or both handles are slightly different shapes. something about the fact that el has been bought up with such exclusive ideas about good / bad people irks me because she's literally using entirely objective terminology (re: monster / superhero) for the two ends of her morality spectrum, and that fails to take into account the extreme grey area between the implications of those two terms. and humans as a whole cannot be monsters or superheroes and if she views herself as either one or another and cant accept herself as both or neither, that means she's been bought up with a distinct lack of association of sense of self with humanity. do you guys ever think about that?
