💀💀so to get into college, here we have to give certain exams right—like there’s this joint exam called JEE Mains worth 300 marks and it consists of like 100 marks worth if each chem maths and physics—now the one I gave was a mock test but the test is very difficult. Like vv difficult—and just scoring like 150 in the test will surely get you in the best college in our country (random info wgain, but like once you qualify dthe JEE mains you get to give JEE advance which can be worth 300-400 like anything and it’s like the second toughest exam in the world💃)
So since we’re still studying 117 is a decent score- like above average as of now but yes that’s that
Tbh I’ve stopped counting my marks because like 48 to 117 is huge😭I just hear the others in class and decide what my score could be
that’s something new i’ve learned omlll, here it’s based of gpa usual a 3.5 gpa is automatic admission into a college and 4.0+ is a perfect gpa (though you could still get rejected by a university), BUT you’re literally close to getting a 150 ngl !! congratulations for real

Gil is a top student, mostly getting a mark of 100. but whenever Thena asks her rival what he got he always says a lower point (for example he says 97 and she got a 98) , hiding his exam behind his back 🫣
Thena glared at the chair next to hers as it was taken.
"Uh," Gilgamesh attempted - yet again - to strike up a casual conversation, "hey."
Thena tapped her papers on her desk, waiting for the professor to come in, as well as tell them how they would be conducting the labs with their students for the day. "I trust you've already looked up what your score for the mid-term was."
"What was yours?"
Thena clenched her teeth in her jaw. It didn't matter what she got, he would get just the same, if not better. She had worked her whole life to become a historical scholar, as was expected of her. And this guy always managed to stand shoulder to shoulder with her, seemingly without so much as blinking. "I achieved 98. I believe the two point demerit was due to my oversight in the essay section."
Gilgamesh merely nodded, offering a nervous kind of smile. "Ah, well, the essay parts are always the toughest."
She slid her eyes over to him. She didn't truly wish to know, but she also couldn't resist knowing. "And you?"
"Ninety..." he trailed off, as he always did when they were discussing their academic performance. She glared at him to finish, "seven?"
Thena smiled, although she did her best not to appear smug and unbecoming. "An admirable mark."
"Thanks," he laughed off, like it was nothing. Professor Stoss was a famously tough professor despite his young age, and getting any good mark from him was already a feat.
Thena did somewhat believe that the affability Gilgamesh possessed made people go easier on him. And even then, she had to concede that he was intelligent and competent in their field of study. It infuriated her.
She had the weight of the world on her in the expectation to perform. She was even a teaching assistant entirely to advance her studies and career. Otherwise, the interaction with other students was far too much for her own preference.
But Gilgamesh said he was good in historical studies merely because his mother had possessed a fondness for them. Thena devoted hours to studying and research and Gilgamesh worked part time at a diner close to the university. And yet he used to consistently beat her in every assignment and quiz and test.
Only in recent months did he seem to be coming just a single point under her, and even that was not enough. Thena had already heard from her own family how outstanding this no-name student was and how those in their field of work were asking about him.
"Did you...do anything this weekend?"
Thena looked over, somewhat astonished that he was still trying to make conversation with her.
He shrugged, tapping his fingers anxiously on the cover of his textbook. "I heard there was a fancy party for the TAs, I mean. I assumed you went."
Thena frowned. There was indeed an event for the faculty and their chosen assistants--those who showed promise enough to earn extra credits in teaching. She hadn't attended because she felt no need (nor did Phastos, in her defense). "I assumed you had gone."
"Oh, no," Gilgamesh smiled down at the desk. "I take the late shifts on weekends. They're long, but we don't get many people, so I can get studying or work done, y'know?"
Thena swallowed her words. She had all this envy for his natural skill, but his work was just as legitimate as hers. And he worked to pay his rent, living off campus, while she lived in a dorm for female academic leaders. Gilgamesh stole his time studying as opposed to building his entire life around it.
"You deserve to enjoy yourself a little."
She looked at him again, still frowning. "I beg your pardon?"
"S-Sorry." He went back to staring down at the tattered edges of his textbook. But she kept looking at him, waiting for him to elaborate. The silence worked, dragging his words out of him. "I just mean...you work really hard, right? You're always top of the class. You should be allowed to have some fun, sometimes."
She did work hard. She devoted every waking moment of her life to her studies, and the one person who continuously thwarted her attempts at perfection was the one to point it out?
It would be easier to be angry with him if he were dislikeable in any way. As it stood now, all she had to go on was that he always beat her in academic achievement, and so effortlessly at that. But even with that, she had to concede that he worked just as hard, if not harder than her for it! And it was infuriating!
"Sorry," he repeated, looking away from her glowering at him.
She sighed. "No, I'm sorry. It was an innocent question."
He looked at her, completely astonished. She would like to snap at him for thinking she couldn't even just apologise for being overly adversarial with him. But that would defeat the point. "Well, I know you don't really like small talk."
It was that she wasn't good at it. She angled herself in her chair, destroying her perfect posture to face him somewhat more properly. "Should you not have also...enjoyed yourself? When do you have time to socialise if you are either studying or working?"
"Well, I have friends I can see in my other classes," he shrugged.
Oh. Yes, of course. Thena felt her hackles raise again at the idea that she was so unfamiliar with the idea of having friends in any of their classes. But she was trying to be nicer to him.
"But," he offered another sheepish smile, bending closer to whisper like children trading a secret in grade school. "This class is my favourite."
Thena just stared at him. She supposed that made sense. He always said he had the same like of history and classics that his mother had. But the idea that she was included in the categorisation of his favourite anything; a warm feeling spread in her chest.
"The lovebirds are here already."
Students began filtering into the small lecture hall, facing them seated at the front of the room. The one who made the comment plunked down close to the door. Another one looked in their direction, "don't you two ever sleep in?"
They got jokes and insinuations that they were together all the time. Apparently, everyone could see some kind of brewing, invisible tension between the two of them. Thena always found it ridiculous.
"We don't-!"
The student startled, as did the rest of the room slowly taking their seats. The declaration was sharp, and loud--far louder than was needed for a room this size.
Thena felt warmth rush to her cheeks, first for the outburst, then the realisation that it seemed overeager to deny something that wasn't even said. She cleared her throat, turning towards the board (since she had shot to her feet in her denial). "Sit down and start copying."
The student body present groaned but obeyed. Gil was the far preferred teaching assistant because he didn't scare anyone, and even if they under-performed, he had kind encouragements as opposed to scathing condemnations.
"Guys, come on, you heard her."
Thena barely glanced over her shoulder. There was nothing new about their students complaining about her teaching methods. But Gil usually didn't take quite so stern a tone with them. Even in her defense.
He peeked at her with a smile, perhaps hoping to show that he was indeed her ally and not her enemy.
Thena whipped her head forward again. So long as they were pitted against each other in any setting, he was no friend of hers. No matter how winsome his smile was.

(( The event happened in a pharmacy in Cebu. I saw the video as it was shared to me by friends who are from there, and as someone who buys meds on a regular basis, you should know that the pharmacists are the drug experts. The medicine experts. If they say no, then no. If they say go to the doctor, then go. They're called the Gatekeepers of Medicines for a reason. As Healthcare workers, they are only looking after our health as patients. Let them do their job. ))
(( I have many pharmacist friends who were frustrated with these kinds of scenarios as well. Like whenever they do something good like doing their job (doing the right thing) - they get prosecuted or attacked by customers who insist on their way etc etc. Kaya na feel ko pain ni sir pharmacist coz i can see my friends in his situation. this segment is dealing all about dealing with bad news & how to not let it affect us as much as it does!

🍼 : bad news is such an icky thing to get back.
for me it's so easy to blame myself for the bad news i reiceve, like it's my own personal faliure that something didn't go right. it used to affect a lot of my meltdowns too (both autistic & bpd)- which then made things extra icky :<
i think one of the hardest things i've learned in that sometimes bad things just happen. it's no ones fault, it's not bad karma coming to haunt me, it's not repercussions for a bad choice i made years ago.
sometimes you're just dealt a bad set of cards.
& now i like to use those times to learn and grow a little, build up my confidence a little so that i'm not punshing myself as soon as bad news get's announced. even going to the extreme of patting myself on the back and telling me i did the best i could at the time.
something that helped me a lot (especially when it came to school & exams) was reminding myself that plan A doesn't always have to go right, that's why there are plan's B, C, D, E - and as many as it takes for me to land back in the right direction.
i will get to the end one way or another, i just need to take a different path is all.
for example, i failed my math's & biology exam back and school and was nearly denied from college, i thought that despite my hard hours studying, it was already decided for me that i wasn't going to make it to university.
& yet, here i am with a bachlors degree in a smart field. i got there in the end! i just had a longer way to go than most & u know what, that was fine too, because sometimes the slow and steady approach is what we need sometimes to mentally prepare us for the next chapter of our lives.
🧸 : I think bad news needs to happen sometimes to get us where we need to be. We need to experience new things, and we can't do that if we're given access to everything we wanted. Not only would it make us less determined, but it would lessen our chances of fighting for what we believe we're worth.
Though geting the news is never fun.
I think having people around that support you and can be a shoulder to lean on when things get tough is super important. Both me and Pumpkin have helped each other through some of our toughest battles, and I know I wouldn't have carried on pushing if it wasn't for her.
We're also not as weak as we think we are.
We're a lot stronger than we give ourself credit for. And if you're dealing with some bad news right now, just know that this feeling won't last forever. You will bounce back, and might even grow and learn something from the experience.
You can make it in this world, and I wish you the very best of luck for reaching your end goal.

Although the pair bask in the glow of their new, romantic relationship, studies have to go on for Weatherly and Hex.
Exams are rapidly approaching, signaling the finish line for their second semesters. Some of their dorm mates further in their courses say that university flies by. They weren’t joking! Before they know it, Hex and Weatherly need to plan what they’re doing after they graduate. Get jobs? Move in together? The future used to scare Hex, but not now. Not now that she has Weatherly.
Weatherly: “You’re staring at me. Am I distracting you?”
Hex blinks rapidly as she returns to reality. She turns her head away, focusing on her screen. She refuses to give Weatherly the satisfaction of seeing her blush.
Hex: “Absolutely not. I’m solving the world’s toughest mysteries.”
Weatherly: “But you already did that. We admitted our feelings for each other. The biggest question in the world - answered!”
Hex pretends to gag, teasing Weatherly for his flirtatious, cheesy comment. He roars with laughter, drawing Hex into a fit of side-splitting giggles. With the way he keeps looking at her, there’s no way she’ll get any research done!
Hex gives in, indulging Weatherly in the attention he’s craving.

“Uwah!”
Lucy’s excited giggle pierced the cold night air as she held out her hands to catch the snow falling around her. It’s not very often that Tokyo receives snow, maybe a couple times in a season and rarely enough to blanket the ground. On the sidewalk around her, other tokyoites scurry past uninterested in a young girl’s childish antics for it is two days before Christmas Eve and there are errands to run. She grinned at Natsu before looking towards the sky and closing her eyes for a moment while the cold little drops of snow flurries touched her skin. He merely chuckled as a warm smile graced his lips. It never failed to amaze Natsu each time the woman did something to make him fall in love all over again. But here she was, her face bathed in the artificial glow of store signs looking like an ethereal angel.
This was their first winter after graduating from high school when nothing was yet set in stone and the rest of their lives laid before them. Once Natsu turned 20, he already knew that his father wanted him to succeed as the Oyabun, but he wasn’t ready to be a boss of their yakuza group just yet. He’s still young! And as he watched his girlfriend catching snowflakes, it only steeled his desire to focus on love not business… especially because Lucy is opposed to him becoming the boss. He held back a sigh and put on a smile as she grabbed his hand again to continue walking down the avenue.
“Did you order the meal from KFC?” Lucy queried.
“Of course,” Natsu lifted their conjoined hands, kissing the back of her knuckles. “I even ordered your favorite cake from the patisserie.”
“Mmm,” she bounced up placing a quick peck on his cheek. “You take such good care of me,” she cooed and snuggled to his side.
‘I’d kill for you,’ Natsu mumbled in his head. “I wanna give you everything kitten. I’ll always protect and take care of you.”
He knew that she knew exactly what those words meant… and it only added to her opposition. It wasn’t that Lucy was against him being the boss, what she’s really annoyed with is the whole boys club aspect of the yakuza. Natsu didn’t blame her for feeling the way she did, hell one of the things that attracted him was her strength. People often assumed Lucy was just another pretty girl who traded on her looks and lacked in intelligence, but they’re dead wrong. Picture it. The woman who was just minutes ago childly catching snowflakes was always in the top 10 percent of exams and was accepted into Tokyo University, one of the toughest universities to get into for business. Beautiful, brilliant, and feisty. He loved her so much… It’s because of that love that he didn’t want her joining the yakuza.
Time to change the subject.
“Hey, I was thinking we should go to an onsen after visiting the shrine for New Year’s.” Natsu suggested. “We haven’t visited one in a while.”
“That would be nice, a trip before I start college.”
Natsu kissed her temple. “I’ll book a room with a private onsen.”
The couple spent a sweet and savory Christmas Eve together at Natsu’s apartment, cuddling under the covers for most of the evening. He lived in a one-bedroom flat on the 26th floor of a high-rise apartment building where the nighttime views of Tokyo were beautiful. Outside the picture window, snow flurries fell and swirled through the air, catching on the light coming from the apartment before disappearing into the darkness. A few scattered buildings around the city were lit up for the holiday season making them stand out in the skyline. These really were the best times, when they could forget the world and all the responsibilities of life that lay beyond the front the door. Here in their own little heaven, where they made the rules, it was always sad to leave it.
The next morning, Lucy went home with plans to hang out with her best friend Levy because Natsu had to deal with some end of year matters for the organization. No matter, it’s just five days until they’ll leave for their trip. He really hated being apart from her for more than a couple days, but he knew he better get used to it. Once Lucy started school, there will be times she needed to focus on projects and exams that may keep them apart for weeks at a time. He too may have problems that pop up that he needed to deal with. As the current first lieutenant it’s his responsibility to take care of matters before they escalated and required the boss to get involved.
Finally, the 30th arrived. Natsu picked Lucy up from her apartment and they headed out in his car to an onsen located in the Saitama region. It’s about an hour’s drive, but the route is scenic once they leave Tokyo with forested land flanking many sections of the highway. During the autumn, the colors… all the reds, yellow, and orange leaves are pleasing to the eye, now those trees lay barren, and the pines are blanketed with piles of snow. Mountains of white wintergreens gleaming in the mid-afternoon sunlight.
The ryokan Natsu chose was a mid-sized inn tucked away from the nearby city. Its design featured traditional Japanese style accommodations from tatami floors to pillowy futon mattresses, complimentary yukata robes, and in-room dining services. There are sliding shoji doors that led to a private deck and covered onsen bath that’s open to the outside. It’s a perfect hotel if you’re looking for a cozy, intimate getaway, and that’s exactly what Natsu wanted to spoil his girlfriend with before school stress began. Let Lucy start off the new year relaxed and sated.
“Of course, I’m being clingy,” Natsu teased as they walked towards the guest room after check in. “It’s been a week.” He wrapped his arms around Lucy’s waist making it difficult for her to walk, but as much as she grumbled through gritted smiles, he won’t let go. The poor attendant carrying their luggage must’ve been so uncomfortable.
The moment the door closed behind them… “Okay! Okay!” Lucy shrieked and clawed at the arms cinched around her waist. “So embarrassing!”
“Oww! Oww!” Natsu laughed as he finally let go. “Sorry kitten, I’ll leave the affection for behind the scenes.” Lucy rolled her eyes though there’s no malice in her expression, so Natsu still considered it his win. He kissed her cheek. “I’m just happy.” He kissed her cheek again. “Can you blame me?”
Lucy’s cheeks flushed. “No…”
Yup, definitely his win.
The couple changed into the more comfortable yukata robes and hapi coats before venturing outside. For the three hours before the dinner service would be served, they spent it walking around the hotels zengarden and tea house. It’s a beautifully maintained garden replete with a koi pond that had a wooden bridge that crossed it, several intersecting pathways to follow, benches along the way to rest, and a couple of gazebo structures to enjoy the tranquility of nature. There’s a very light snow fall during the walk, but without much of a breeze the chill factor is tolerable. Natsu couldn’t remember the last time he’s been in a garden like this one. It might have been during a school trip. Had he held hands with Lucy then like he’s doing now? Possibly. Oh well, now there’s this memory to add to the collection.
Because the hotel is smaller it doesn’t have a sit-down restaurant, so meals are delivered to the rooms by request. Guests were also allowed to order specialty menus at the time of reservation, which is the route Natsu chose. He knew Lucy’s favorite dishes and made sure they were included. For dinner he’d chosen a mix of options. A chirashi bowl of sushi rice covered in a variety of fish, scallop, shrimp, and eel sliced thin in sashimi style. Braised pork belly coated with a sticky teriyaki sauce. Red miso soup with wakame seaweed, tofu, and scallion. Shrimp and vegetable tempura, and lastly for dessert, strawberry mochi ice cream drizzled with sugar glaze and kinako powder. The resident sake master included a top line junmai daiginjo sake to go with the meal. Everything was delicious.
Now that their bellies are full and the sake has mellowed them, it was the best time to relax away the rest of the evening. They took turns taking a quick bath before slipping into the onsen. Natsu went in first.
“Finally,” he teased from the steaming waters. “I was starting to worry you fell asleep in the bathroom.”
Lucy kneeled next to the edge with the towel wrapped around her body and her hair tied up in a loose bun. “I have a surprise to show you first.”
“Oh?” Natsu shifted his body to rest his elbows on the edge.
She turned around, still on her knees, then let the towel drop down to her waist to reveal her back. “I got it on the 26th so it’s still healing.” Lucy twisted her neck so she could see him. “What do you think?” Then before he started to respond, she let go of the towel and joined him in the water.
Natsu prompted Lucy to sit with her back to him so he could look at it closer. “It’s a beautiful tattoo, fits you perfectly.” He ran his fingers over the soft, fluid line work that graced her upper back. Top to bottom it covered half of her back, perfectly centered over her spine with the wingspan stretching over her shoulder blades. He couldn’t quite place the style, a touch of whimsy, fantasy, maybe even tribal and the design was part butterfly, fairy, and angelic in its beauty. “Very delicate, perfect for a woman, but why wings?”
Lucy turned back to him. “Because you often call me kitten or angel, so when Levy and I visited the tattoo shop and I saw this design I decided to go with it.” She caressed his cheek and placed a pressured lingering kiss on his lips. “Now I’m forever your angel.”
Natsu pulled her onto his lap so she’s straddling his legs, wrapping his arms around her waist with hands draping over her lower curves. The steaming waters chased away the winter chill, while Lucy’s lithe body is framed by the lightly falling snow behind her and the overhead light created a haloed glow around her blonde hair. Just, breathtaking… and it’s all his. He grinned and returned the kiss in kind letting his forehead rest against hers, “Damn right your mine, and I’ll never let you go.”
Snap Snap Snap “Boss? Oi Natsu, why the hell are you staring at the kids?”
“Kids?” Natsu’s eyes blinked and slowly readjusted from daydreaming. That’s right, the restaurant they ate dinner at was across from a park decorated with lights for the holiday season. He was waiting outside while Gray settled the bill when he noticed a young woman bathed in lights looking at the sky while two children, presumably hers, were laughing a few feet away as they made snow angels in the snow. Did he just flash back to a decade-old memory? The second he realized where he was, he turned around to address Gray. “I um, was just remembering how we used to make snow angels too as kids. Remember, Gray?”
Gray’s brow raised in suspicion, “not really, but whatever. I paid so let’s go.”
“Right…” Natsu glanced back to the park one last time before falling in step with his lieutenant. He’d almost forgotten that memory, but how could he. “My angel,” he muttered under his breath and gained another weird look from Gray.
With the shinnenkai end of year celebration party coming up in a couple more weeks, Natsu had been too busy preparing to notice all the Christmas seasonal decorations around the city. Though a western thing, it was becoming more and more accepted as a secular holiday, especially in the bigger cities. But that wasn’t the issue of the moment. He really loved it when Lucy got that tattoo because he thought that it meant she’d accepted a future with him— Oh, how wrong he’d been because that was the year they broke up and ten years later he still wasn’t exactly sure why.
“You go on in Gray, I’ll be in shortly.” They’d arrived back at the office building, but Natsu wasn’t ready to go in just yet.
Natsu pulled the collar of his coat tighter to his neck to brace against a small gust of chilly wind. Lately his and Lucy’s current relationship as rivals was starting to wear on him mentally and it was getting harder and harder to control his emotions surrounding her. Guess ten years of pining really will drive a person insane. He closed his eyes and tilted his head to the sky to allow the little white flurries to chill his skin. Somehow, some way he’ll win his angel back and finally fulfill the wish he’d made at the shrine all those years ago. ‘I said it didn’t I Luce,’ he smiled to himself. ‘I’ll never let you go…’

And it's a sitcom...
I was speechless for fifteen minutes straight after watching the promo. I can't believe it's going to end 🥺, I can't express my gratitude in words to this show. During the toughest time of my life, Young Sheldon came as a blessing. I'm not saying it cured my depression, but it did help to live with it. It helped me to solve numerous problems I was struggling with, for example, with the mental blocks during exams (yips), trust issues with religional beliefs, struggles with discerning reality, university projects, recognition issues etc. With Sheldon, sometimes with Mary, sometimes with Missy, sometimes with Paige, sometimes with Dr. Sturgis, I resolved those getting inspired by the show.
And now it's going to end, and George is going to...die? I felt so relieved after they retconned his cheating case, but at the same time, it made his passing more melancholic. It reminded me of the worst day of my life when I lost my own father, the person I endear the most in this entire world. Seeing Sheldon sitting like a numb stone, Missy and Mary burst into tears I felt so heartbroken. I knew it was going to happen, we all knew already the spoiler, but it still hard to take when it triggers your own trauma. And coincidentally, I was exactly Sheldon and Missy's age when my father left me. So, although it was the mother's day yesterday, I was only thinking about my father and crying over him as the wound become alive.

Hello Latte ! :) I am currently a student in ICSE and will be switching to IB next year. But the problem is I'm quiet literally unaware of most things about this curriculum. I know about TOK , EE and CAS and other general stuff. I was curious as to how the exams are conducted and how are they graded. I am having trouble understanding how my marks will get converted into points 1 to 7. Could you help me out ?
Hello! So the exams are still out of a lot of marks. Teachers are supposed to show you criteria to get a desired grade for each subject. The grades (1 to 7) depends on the percentage. Say for example, a test is out of 25 marks. If you get over a certain percentage ex: 55%, then you get a 5. (I'm using an example from some of my business tests)
Getting a 5 is easy if you put in a regular amount of work, but getting a 6 and a 7 is pretty hard and only gets harder since you have the entire syllabus to cover. Especially if you have subjects which give you essay questions on the test, because then a 7 depends on the quality of your essay.
I'm not sure if you know about the Internal Assessments so I'll just mention them here. IAs do contribute to the overall grade in the subject (most IAs are 20% of the final grade). My only advice for those is: don't procrastinate on those, get it done on time. Each subject also has at least 2 papers, sometimes 3 papers. Languages will have 4 (Reading, writing, speaking, listening). These papers also contribute a certain percentage to your final IB score.
As for how the exams are conducted, I think that depends on how your school decides to conduct it. But it will be rigid. A lot of people in my school focused on their DP year 1 exams because those are the grades many people apply to uni with (they're only the predicted grades, not the final).
Good luck for the IB and good on you that you did your research! It's the world's toughest high school programme for a reason :')

note: for lyn. I am trying to get back into writing. so writing below 500 words seems to be plausible option and not so much pressure on me.
It was before the winter break. Between the coldest days and toughest semester end exams. I was juggling between studying and dying, funny how these two words exist within each other. To be studied modules towers over me like a mountain with no cliff to be seen in near sight, I was groaning, drowning and crying. It’s hard to squeeze in time to remember to breathe and gaining a potential crush should be out of the question, life and everything.
But each moment is interrelated and life can be a nasty thing. The world shattering sneeze of a man passing by my table in the bustling cafeteria, some of the remnants of his sneeze falling on my blueberry muffin, me looking up in horror and the sinner walking away as if he didn’t ruin my already ruined day. And the doors to the cafeteria opening revealing the loudest boys of the whole universe spiking up my irritation.
Until my eyes land on that boy. Amidst the tall, lanky, heavily built boys, he reaches to their chest, his head down, his eyes on his steps, a small smile on his face.
The irritating feeling in my chest slows down, the seconds ticking by take slow pace as if it is also tired and the smile on his face is making it rest. He looks up at the taller male, his smile widening into a huge grin and tumbling into laughter at something his friend said. My ears twitch listening to his melodic yet boyish laugh, his voice going straight to my heart, quickening its pace and going haywire.
Who is he? And why didn’t I see him during the semester? Did we share classes? Maybe not, if we did I would have noticed him that is if I was sitting in the backbench.
“Kyungsoo!” A new boy from the entrance of the café calls.
Everyone in the cafe stops and looks at them. As if the universe is intervening in everyone’s lives just to make them marvel at her creation. And everyone sighs at the pink cheeked boy who shyly ducks his head and apologizes.
Everyone sighs.
He rubs his nape, his fingers tugging on the ends of his hair.
Kyungsoo. The name of the boy who stole my heart and never returned it.

I started seeing a lot of childhood friends alerudy + valeria content lately and I cant stop thinking about it SO consider this little au: Alejandro went after Valeria and soon after that Valeria gives Rodolfo a call which literally made him sweat ice because that means she has Ale?? So he arrives ready to go apeshit but what he sees is a very familiar kid with arms wrapped tight around Valeria's neck. Basically a good old de-aged au where Valeria and Rudy are forced by situation to take care of little Ale who lost most of his memories but is still able to recognize both of his friends older versions and they have A Lot of emotions about it (and Alejo is the sweetest most energetic little menace)
Sorry for the ridiculously late reply anon. I got this ask two days before an important exam and I was hit by a nasty cold right afterwards, so I got neither the time nor the strength to answer this until now. I don't have a lot of ideas about this right now, but as always, I'll see what I can do. Putting the answer under the cut just in case.

'This is a bad idea, Sergeant Major.'
Rodolfo climbs into the driver's seat of the truck and levels René with a look that would've made a less experienced soldier cower. 'Thank you, Major,' he says, placing his hands on the wheel, 'but I know Valeria. I'll be fine.'
Rodolfo is unaccustomed to the seriousness on René's face. 'And if you aren't?' René asks. His foreign accent is more pronounced, as it always does when he is thinking hard.
'Standard protocol applies. You take charge of Los Vaqueros and make decisions based on the information you have.'
A nod. 'Long live Los Vaqueros. We need you, Sergeant.' René closes the truck's door. 'Both you and the Colonel.'
Rodolfo merely nods in response and steps on the gas, not bothering to look back to see René's expression. Alejandro disappeared two days ago. Despite knowing he's the toughest guy on the whole planet - so tough that, sometimes, even though they grew up together and watched each other mature and grow old, Rodolfo finds himself wondering if Alejandro is some kind of immortal in hiding - Alejandro's absence has been weighing down Los Vaqueros ever since, with worry, with fear, with prolonged shifts searching every single inch of Las Almas for signs of their colonel. But there had been no trace at all; no footprints, no torn fabric hanging on a branch, not even a single crumb of the crackers provided in their rations.
Which is why he has to go after the only path he is provided with: Valeria.
He had expected the call, of course. Not many people in the world can take down Alejandro and Valeria is the closest and the most competitive of them all, so he was already geared up with a full squad behind him when he picked up the phone. What he didn't expect was Valeria sounding utterly tired and defeated on the other side.
'Just bring yourself,' she said. 'No one else. It's easier for you to see for yourself.'
'Is Alejandro alive?' Rodolfo had asked. It was the most important piece of information. If he wasn't...
'He is.' In the background, something crashed. 'Alive and well. Too well.'
The last sentence came as a disgruntled grumble, giving Rodolfo pause. He had never heard Valeria use that tone since she decided to be a drug lord. It was enough to convince him to go alone. And hey, if everything turns out to be a trap, he didn't get promoted to a Sergeant Major and become Alejandro's second-in-command for nothing; he can take care of himself. He also trusts René to handle everything if it really comes to it.
His instincts tell him it won't come to that.
The coordinates Valeria sent him lead him to a house on the outskirts of Las Almas. Not one in a village, but a lone building in the middle of the desert. He sees no power lines, but when he steps out of the truck, he can hear the muffled hum of a generator. A large water tank is also attached to the house, allowing it to exist off the grid. He scans the area for hostiles but finds none, which is strange. Nonetheless, he dares not relax and doesn't lower his rifle as he approaches the front door of the house. It opens on its own, and he nearly shoots Valeria.
'Took you long enough,' says Valeria, unfazed and exasperated. 'Put that away. Don't want you to scare your lover boy.'
Rodolfo scowls at the nickname. Not seeing any weapons on Valeria, he lowers his gun to his side. 'Where's Alejandro?' he asks.
Valeria stands to the side to let Rodolfo in. The sound of rapid footsteps hammering the floor originates from what seems to be the stairs, and the next thing he knows, a boy is dashing towards him and nearly tackles him from how hard he impacts Rodolfo's legs. Valeria smoothly takes the gun off him, and his hands fly to the boy's shoulders to steady him, which turns out to be unnecessary as the boy looks up still clinging to him with a wide grin.
Alejandro, except it can't be, because Rodolfo hasn't seen this face in more than 30 years.
'Rudy! You're here!' Despite Rodolfo's tactical vest being not very comfortable, young Alejandro buries his face in his stomach once more. 'I missed you. Valeria said you're going to show up so I've been waiting for you! She didn't say you're a grown-up like her!'
Rodolfo looks up and meets Valeria's eyes. Her expression, if true, says she is as baffled by the situation as he is. And if Alejandro's reaction indicates anything, it is that he does not remember a single thing about her betrayal.
Valeria clears her throat. 'I found him like this,' she says. 'Took him here. No idea who did this. I figure I should call you.'
'What for?' asks Rodolfo. The commander of Los Vaqueros should be a prime opportunity for her to expand, to give them a curb stomp. 'Why help us?'
'I'm not helping you.' Now that Alejandro has become a koala on Rudy, Valeria saunters to the armchair next to the sofa and sits down like a queen upon her throne. 'I've asked all the questions I can. You can ask them again. This is the Alejandro we know from our childhood. There's someone - or a group of people - out there, capable of de-aging adults.' She leans forward, her elbows resting on her thighs. 'It threatens my business too.'
Alejandro finally unwinds his arms from Rodolfo's waist and leads him to the sofa by hand. Even as a child, Alejandro is a pushy bastard, and he finds himself squeezed between one side of the sofa and Alejandro, who can't seem to stop swinging his legs. 'You know I can't stop going after the cartel simply because of this.'
'I'm not asking you to stop. You take care of Alejandro and I'll find whoever's responsible. Then we'll change him back.'
'And remove a tactical advantage?'
'Would you rather your husband stay as a child for the rest of your life?'
Rodolfo looks at Alejandro, who already looks bored by the adults' conversation, and then back at Valeria who, for the first time in years, doesn't look like she is going to backstab him within the next five minutes. Alejandro looks adorable - he always does - but Valeria is right; without Colonel Alejandro Vargas, Los Vaqueros will not be the same.
'Alright, we'll ease up on our raids, but don't expect me to sit around and wait for good news,' he says. 'I want in.'
Valeria grins, all teeth and wolfish and so much like Alejandro and Rodolfo himself at the same time that he can't help but remember why it is the case.
'Good.'
