Hi.....if you don't mind me asking, can I ask your top 5 (or top 3) favorite characters from Naruto? And why you loved them? And your top 5 favorite moments from the series? Sorry if you've answered this question before....Thanks...
Sure, I don't mind at all!
For top five characters, I'd say the top three are pretty static, where the other two positions can fluctuate. I love a lot of characters! For today, I'll go with:
Tenzo: So many things! I love that that he is both stern and compassionate with the Team 7 kids. I love that he makes them a Welcome Team Kakashi sign, and I love how he can be a bit of a show-off. I love how he is enamoured by Kakashi's flattery but also enjoys arguing about soba with him. I love how he makes Naruto porridge and tucks him into bed after a panic attack. I love that he has a place in his heart for Sasuke even though they weren't teammates directly. I love that he likes scaring teens with his spooky face. I love that he is willing to question anyone (including Tsunade, Kakashi and the Raikage). I love how he radiates Tired Old Man Energy despite being 26. I love that despite having one of the most difficult origin stories in the series, he is only ever kind-hearted. I love that he has this jutsu which is all about nature, but his creations are often structured and architectural, because that's who he is. I love that both his powers and decision-making are affected by being around Team 7. I enjoy him a lot!
Kakashi: I love his love of not only Team 7, but of all of his friends' students. I love his compassion towards his enemies. I love how much he stands by Sasuke in particular, both in a sense of physical protection but also emotional outreach. I love that he grows from feeling like a failure in leadership at Kannabi Bridge to leading his whole village. I love how he wants to be socially off-putting, but he's actually the most popular guy of all of his peers. I love that in the face of immense loss he opens his heart again and again. I love that he's self-effacing about his personal qualities, but unbelievably competent and hard-working with his ninja abilities. I love his dynamics with Gai, Tenzo, Tsunade, and so many more. I love how neither him nor Tenzo want the kids to see him kill Kakuzu. I love that he's a dog person. I love that his hair's a little stupid. I love that he writes Naruto notes about eating more veggies. I love the ongoing bit of covering half of his face. I love him!!
Sasuke: This post has already gotten quite long, but I love how Sasuke's greatest struggle in the series is fighting how much love he feels. I love his body "just moves" when Team 7 is in danger. I love that he ran to protect Naruto when Itachi was after him. I love that he thanked Sakura and laid her gently on a bench to say goodbye. I love that he is an extremely competent ninja, but can't come up with his own answers the Chunin written exam at all. I love that he reins in his curse mark by thinking about Naruto and Sakura. I love how he constantly changes his aesthetic in questionable ways. I love that he causes international incidents. I love that he uno-reverses Orochimaru. I love how desperately he tries to understand Itachi, the Hokage, Konoha, and himself. I love that he's a snake expert who gets parenting advice from Aoda. I love that he's a cat person. I love his narrative is not about him being home (in Konoha) but about having a home, as in a place to return to where he is loved. He is Teenage Ninja Batman and he is Me, The Baby.
Gaara: I'll try and keep this brief(er): I love that he is so, so unhinged during the Chunin Exams and EQUALLY, so well-adjusted after. I love his relationship with his siblings. I love that he is the first person we see to be both jinchuriki and Kage. I love that he's like, "Wow, Lee, you're slower," during the Retrieval Mission as if he did not personally rearrange Lee's legs. I love that he calls out the other Kage for forsaking themselves. I love that by default his power is defensive. I love how much he adores Naruto. I could talk more, but you get the idea!
Hashirama: I love how he is smart enough to found a village and invent a whole style of jutsu, but at the same time he's extremely silly. I love his relationship with Madara, calling him a "gift from the divine" to begin with, and saying that he's "fundamentally kind" after he's killed thousands of people. I love that he puts matching statues of him and his ex at the border. I love that as he also had this loving relationship with Mito, he invented bisexuality in the Naruto universe. I love that he bows his head to the other Kage. I love that he teaches his granddaughter to gamble (poorly). I love his dynamic with Tobirama, and his love for his siblings. I love him saying, "I'll deal with you later!" I love him patiently explaining to Sasuke his entire origin story. I love that he is willing to die for peace, but also willing to fight for it.
(Honourable mentions to Minato, Kushina, Tsunade, Naruto, Sakura, Neji and Zabuza who I also thought about putting on this list.)
As for favourite moments, here are a few:
Kakashi standing up to Orochimaru on Sasuke's behalf, without mangekyo, back-up, and after signfiicant blood loss
"I liked them! Is that weird?" "No... I liked them too." Kakashi and Naruto's retroactive dialogue about Zabuza and Haku
Gaara using his sand to have Naruto shake his hand
Naruto meeting Kushina for the first time and hugging her
Hashirama and Madara's simultaneous warning to each other to run away when their fathers were trying to attack

Top 5 archaeological sites in your province
Well, I hope everybody's settled in for an illustrated archaeology infodump, because this one got long...
But thanks for asking, this was fun to put together.
1. Tse'k'wa (Charlie Lake Cave)
Partly because I worked there as a field school TA. Also because it's one of The Coolest sites. Look up the raven burials, they're incredible. Basically it's a rock shelter overlooking a filled in ravine used by Clovis-ish peoples moving north through the ice-free corridor 12,000 years ago. Our work there was looking at the top of the hill above, where the activity might be more recent. This is the home of the northernmost Clovis point in existence, among many other cool artefacts.
Tumblr media
It's a very cool place, and you can usually visit if you call ahead and use the driveway instead of the unauthorised path up the bank.
2. Keatley Creek
This site might be the closest thing to a precontact interior plateau city we'll ever find. The house pits are so close together they almost overlap in places. A community this size was possible because of Keatley Creek's prime location on the Fraser salmon run and the nephrite jade celt industry across BC (think like axe blades and chisels, etc.) that they supplied with top quality material. A disaster that impacted the salmon run is probably why the site was abandoned, but they left behind lots of evidence of the good times for us to find.
Here's the site in modern times courtesy of Simon Fraser University:

And this is the inside of a modern reconstruction Lillooet pithouse like the ones those depressions used to be:

3. Hagwilget Canyon
There hasn't been a ton of work done on this site, but oral histories document it as a key trade hub in precontact BC. People from all over the northwest would come to the canyon to trade and socialise annually. And, with all those people moving through, you needed proper infrastructure, such as:
Tumblr media
The first (and best, if you ask me) Hagwilget Canyon Bridge.
And here's the new one, in case you need context for how massive a crossing this really was:
Tumblr media
This thing was built before white people arrived, from natural materials, and stuck around for generations. It was an incredible feat of engineering, and I'm so glad somebody thought to get pictures.
4. Kilgii Gwaay (Haida Gwaii)
This is a cool site for a bunch of reasons. It's about 10,000 years old. It was occupied before cedar was well established on BC's coast. It was only occupied for about 50 years. It's a wet site with amazing preservation. It's been under the ocean for most of its history.
Once upon a time there were people who lived on a nice little patch of shore between a pond and the sea. They fished in the ocean and hunted bears and drove wooden posts into the ground to make their homes and drying racks. They made stone tools. And then the water came up, slow but unrelenting, and made them leave. The grandparents who held little kids hands as they walked away were probably the people who had first picked this place as a home. Everything we know about them came from the short time they lived there and the things they left behind.
And then the water covered it, and kept bones and tools and wood stakes safe for ten millennia. Only luck and climate and geology working together made it possible for us to find it again. It's like a tiny, perfect Atlantis. I wonder how many generations after heard stories about the village the sea took back.
5. Vancouver Island Petroglyphs
Had to have at least one hometown hit on this list, right? There's rock art all over the place in BC, but some of the ones on the Island are phenomenal. They're pictures carved into rock faces, sometimes flat, sometimes vertical. They tend to heavily feature mythical creatures.
Here's some from Petroglyph Park near Nanaimo:
Tumblr media
I like the chalk additions. You can't really damage carvings ground into bedrock and exposed to the elements for hundreds of years with sidewalk chalk, so why not let kids be kids?
This is the petroglyph wall at Sproat Lake Park:
Tumblr media
There's a dock set up in front of the wall to view the pictures. They must have been very cool to see from a canoe before the dock went in. Here's a close-up of some of the creatures:
Tumblr media
And here's a really big seal near Sooke, BC. Haven't seen this one personally, but it looks amazing:

Top 5 911 episodes? (I started my catch up so I'm in a mood.)
OH MY GOD.
Okay let's see!
Season 1, Episode 4 "Worst Day Ever" - Bobby's relapse just fucking ANNIHILATES me
Season 2, Episode 1 "Under Pressure" - just because of Eddie Diaz's TRULY ICONIC introduction to the team
Honestly I like a lot of Season 2 - love the earthquake arc, absolutely fucking love "Awful People" and Hen's choice
Season 3 Tsunami arc MY BELOVED
Season 4, Eddie getting shot (Episode 13 "Suspicion") leading to BECAUSE EVAN (Episode 14 "Survivors")
Season 5, Episode 4 "Home and Away" - mainly because the cheerleader arc also decimates me
I'm also very fond of the "Begins" episodes, and the whole Athena child murder story was really good too.
YAY I AM SO GLAD YOU'RE DOING YOUR CATCHUP!!!!

Your top 5 (idk if it can even count as top) underrated movies/pieces of media
Gonna go with media in general because movies aren't my thing, but mostly movies (in no particular order):
1. Primeval (UK TV series). can't get better than early 2000's CGI dinosaurs running around Britain chased by a zookeeper, an evolutionary biologist, and a nerd who really loves dinosaurs. Bonus points for a villain with wildly different motivations each season but it's the same villain.
2. Red (Bruce Willis Movie). And the sequel, obviously. What happens when spies retire? Chaos, obviously. Nice of Hollywood to give older actors a chance to have fun instead of having to play serious, grown-up roles for a change.
3. Fern Gully (animated movie). Does this count? Do kids still watch it? I dunno, but it was definitely the thing that made me and all my friends into baby environmentalists.
4. The new-ish Jumanji movies. I know we all thought they were going to ruin Jumanji like they did everything else, but these were actually really fun movies. Whoever decided to have Jack Black play a highschool popular girl was a genius.
5. The Descent (horror movie). Everybody knows I love monster horror, and this one permanently impacted how I think. Caves and the ocean are great places to set a horror movie, because I can watch them without ever worrying about what will happen next time I go there (because I definitely won't, like ever).

Hello
Top 5 characters you would like KMcG to portray - or perhaps top 5 series/franchises/genres you would like to see her in?
oooo okay there’s so much potential here…
for a start, a proper run as a vampire (and not just the last 5 minutes of a cancelled show)
a member of the greek pantheon (pjo and your vancouver filming i’m looking directly at you)
a wlw rom com where she’s a bookstore owner or something (and fully irish let her accent live i’m begging)
an elizabeth carruthers-esque kingpin and/or businesswoman who takes over the whole market
something noir because we’ve got plenty of period but not that yet

Top 5 D&D subplot cues (examples including: who is the doppelgänger)
Oh boyyy, idk if I'm fully understanding the prompt, but this is making me reflect on what things I do time and time again as a DM which was actually hilarious.
Indefinable ailment, probably result of a curse that needs a solution/cure (I've had an amnesiac duchess under a geas, a grumpy goth man in a warlock bargain that causes him chronic pain, and a trans woman with self esteem issues due to the evil yet gender-affirming hag inside her brain)
Local star-crossed lovers/love triangle/mutual pining idiots in YOUR area (my D&D party has a matchmaker in it, so if there's two people that should be dating the quest will get done)
Gods!! Are!! Involved!! And!! Not!! Impartial!! Observers!!
AMAB (All Monarchs Are Bastards)
This place is rotting... discuss. (Corruption in an area/a place/a house that must be stopped).
Special mentions:
Hot woman evil, man just there
A changeling did it (but that's ok, bc the changelings are unionised)
The hot goth academic asked you nicely
