constantly keeping his hand on your waist. such an action may seem futile and unnoticeable considering yeonjun’s the one doing it, but it still makes you confused. yeonjun’s known to be flirty, a literal heartthrob wherever he goes. he’s also very touchy, easily hugging someone or putting his arm around their shoulder. but it’s only truly with you that he lets his hand rest on your hip, finger hooked into one of your jeans’ belt loops.

at first he started doing it at parties, after finding you in the crowd, arms circling your waist to keep you from getting lost in the wave of people. it continued at normal hangouts, laughing alongside his friends as his fingers fiddled with the hem of your top. then it happened when you two were alone, lounging on your couch while watching a movie. there wasn’t anything or anybody he had to protect you from, but he still slid his hand between the backrest and your body until you were practically glued to his side, his arm comfortably holding onto your waist.

calls you his girlfriend. the first time he did it, you thought he was just joking around, trying to tease you. so you laughed it off, attempting to hide the way your heart fluttered at the thought of you being his actual girlfriend. but the second time, a week or so later, you were even more confused. did beomgyu think you two had something going on? did he find out about your old crush on him? you really didn’t know why he started calling you his girlfriend, since none of his other actions showed he felt anything except platonic feelings for you. he stopped after the fourth time, after he noticed your disoriented and clearly disheartened expression. weeks passed and not once did beomgyu explain his old but short habit to you. but then, months later, when you had almost forgotten about the whole ordeal, beomgyu did it again. to be honest, him calling you his girlfriend that time was in fact beneficial for you– you refused to talk any longer to the creep begging for your number. but the way the word rolled off his tongue, a hint of arrogance and a ton of proudness, made you reach for his hand, acting like the role he had assigned you. tension followed after, for weeks, and your heart continued to long for him. if only you knew you were the only thing on his mind whenever someone said the word “girlfriend”.

☆ YEONJUN

gives you stickers he gets as freebies in his packages. Yeonjun is a sucker for a good pair of jeans, a heavy leather jacket and some silver accessories to top it off. The thing is, being fresh out of university and moving out of the dorms into a small studio is quite a problem when you’re a clothes fanatic such as yeonjun. So, to earn some money beside his job and keep his closet in order, he opens an account on some popular secondhand online shops. Yeonjun likes showing off his new finds to you, excitedly telling you about the deal he managed to get, how happy he is to finally get his hands on said item and upon seeing your soft smile, kissing you on the temple and whispering how he’ll make sure you two match. Sometimes, the package includes freebies, mainly stickers, which he immediately sets aside for you– you and your students would love this, he thinks. Yeonjun sells clothes too though, and you find it particularly endearing how he refuses to reuse any of the stickers as freebies, because they are yours, like he always claims.

☆ SOOBIN

buys the food for the classroom's pet. Soobin used to work at a pet store in his first year of university to be able to afford his own car. The pet store was also the place where you both bumped into each other for the first time, and where you ended up sharing your first kiss after you decided to swing by to check in on him. So in short, the pet store in between the old dinner and newly-renovated 7-11 meant a lot to the both of you. Years had passed and now you both only stepped foot in the store a few times a year, just enough to not forget the workers’ faces and see the new animals come in. The next time your boyfriend visited the pet store was exactly a few days after your principal allowed your class to get a classroom pet– a cute hamster whose name was Snickers, voted by your students. The owner of the store welcomed Soobin with a wide grin and a pat on the back, even offering him a discount on the hamster food you had begged him to get since you’d forget (he acted like you owed him but in reality, it was on his way to work and he could never resist your pretty pout). It would become part of your routine, your boyfriend buying Snickers’ food when needed and you accompanying him on the weekends, staring at the cute animals with joy while the store owner and his old boss teased him about the heart eyes he’d send you. Ah, young love, he’d say, laugh resonating through the store.

☆ BEOMGYU

sharpens the classroom's pencils for you every friday. Beomgyu’s week is usually always booked– when he isn’t studying or working, he’s playing the guitar and meeting up with friends and family. That doesn’t mean though that you aren’t spending any time together, but more often than not your dates or “quality time” moments are are the end of the week (he once claimed he likes it because he enjoys ending his week on a good note– tsk, what a romantic). He hasn’t outright told you that he likes the comforting silence when you’re both sitting in the living room, cozying up together and doing your own things, but the way he shyly nods when you pat the space next to you on the couch every time is proof. Sometimes Beomgyu just needs life to be a bit more peaceful, and sharpening all your classroom’s pencils while you grade your students’ papers next to him is exactly fulfilling that need. Once in awhile too, if he’s free, he will walk into your empty classroom with a grin as you do your “typical end-of-the-day teacher things”, ready to pick up every single pencil off the floor and from under the desks, just so you don’t have to collect them and you can go home, together.

☆ TAEHYUN

helps you paint your monthly and seasonal banners for your classroom. Taehyun isn’t a very artistic person– younger, he’d more the type to clumsily spread different colors of paint over the canvas, turning the stunning colors in a brown mess– but he fails to help you out if you’re feeling even the slightest bit out of inspiration. Truly, you had been planning and working on these banners for your classroom for months and to say you were getting tired at the unaesthetically pleasing sight in front of you was an understatement. The only banner you were missing was the one for fall but every time you tried to paint out a beautiful scenery with trees and fallen leaves, the dark colors only made you want to bury yourself six feet under. Only one call of your boyfriend’s name was needed for him to come running to your rescue, taking a pause to look at your “art” before stiffing his laughter and settling next to your on the ground. It wasn’t long before Taehyun had filled the banner with mushrooms and squirrels, brushing paint on the fabric carefully. He was proud of his artwork at the end and you could only smile, thanking him with a kiss and a promise to show his work off. When the next Monday came, you couldn’t help but snap a photo at all your students admiring the new banner, scooting closer to it to take a better look and giggling at the baby squirrel.

☆ HUENING KAI

prepares you your favorite drink in colorful thermos mugs. Huening kai wakes up around the time you’re getting ready to leave for work and every time without fail, he’s drag himself out of bed and to the kitchen to make you your favorite drink. While the water boils-- you usually have coffee, sometimes hot chocolate if you’re feeling a little bit silly– your boyfriend would walk over to where standing rummaging through your bag for your daily-use lipbalm and stare. He’d look you up and down and even wink at you if you make eye contact. He would compliment your outfit (“your shoes go well with your pants, they make you look taller”, “I like how you did your hair this morning”, “your eye shadow is cute, did you use the new pallet I bought you?”, etc..) and kiss you good morning before walking off to finish his daily task at the ping of the boiler. Just before you walk out the door, a sleepy voice calls out to you and a thermos mug is soon pushed in your free hand. The mug’s color matches perfectly well with your outfit and you blush at the effort, kissing him goodbye and leaving for work, ready to brag about your favorite drink and new mug to your students– you just know they are going to be thrilled at the flower print.

sundays were your favorite day of the week.

it was on sundays that the town's farmer's market took place, where you could enjoy eating small samples of fruits and organic jams. not only that, but especially talking to mrs. kang and her husband, the kind old couple that ran their family business “kang’s garden”.

the booth where they sold their products was near the outdoor market's entrance. with a wooden sign (probably carved manually), a big plant pot, and multiple boxes, the place invited you merrily.

your shopping list for the week was the longest you've ever had. your family sent you alone to get the fruits and vegetables you'd need, seeing that some old friends were visiting you soon.

spotting the booth from afar, you clutched onto the eco bags you carried, rays of light kissing your face and feet dragging against the tall grass. as you neared the spot, the kang's family dog came running up to you, a red bandana dangling from her neck.

“hey, apple! how is my good girl doing?” you beamed, petting the golden retriever happily. she tilted her head to escape from your affection and lick your hand. a laugh passed through your lips.

while looking up at the booth, the sight of beautifully cultivated vegetables greeted you. accompanied by it, the aroma of fresh chives and parsley filled your lungs up.

you leaned over to try to spot mrs. kang's small frame from behind the counter, but only a tuft of pink fluffy hair came into your view. quickly, a young man stood up with a box of tomatoes, glancing at you with wide eyes.

“oh, hello,” he greeted politely, putting the box aside. “welcome to kang's garden. how may i help you today?”

the man dusted his hands off, fixing his dirty apron and the sleeves of his white button-up shirt that had its collar poking out. he offered you a kind smile, faint dimples on both sides of his cheeks, just like the ones mrs. kang had. you were sure your mouth was hanging open from how effortlessly handsome the new attendant was.

he seemed a bit taken aback by your presence, though in reality, he simply found you as gorgeous as you found him.

“right! um– i need everything in this list,” extending your arm to him, you let his calloused hands carefully pick up the paper.

his eyes traveled to each item mentioned, widening when he noticed how many of them you'd buy. “wow, you'll need lots of things.” he softly chuckled, handing back your page, “but i'm sure i can give you a discount, so don't worry about it.”

you nodded, leaving the paper on the counter. “can i get everything then?”

“yeah, ‘course.” the mysterious employee agreed, hesitantly taking a small breath in. “do you want any help? i can grab the first half of the items and you grab the other half. does that sound good?”

“sounds great, thanks!” grinning at him, you started picking up the carrots while he grabbed the bell peppers.

people passed by you, and the sound of talking and coins being tossed around was still booming around you two. the pink-haired boy opened his mouth to strike up a conversation, fascinated by you. “do you like gardening?”

“i find it cool, but i never seem to get the hang of it.” you hummed. “the tomatoes i tried to grow died a week after i planted the cutting… you?”

“i do like gardening, but i don't have much time for it since i'm always busy with college.” he affirmed before leaning back to grab a tomato from the box he brought earlier, showing it proudly to you. “i planted these, though!”

it shone bright red with the sun's reflection on it, some droplets of water that he might've used to wash it dripping from the fruit. “woah, it looks so good.”

mumbling a shy “thank you”, he retrieved the tomato to its original place.

after a while of some awkward quietude, apple started sniffing you again, jumping on your side as a way to get your attention. you and the man took notice of this at the same time and called out her name — you in a playful tone, him in a reprimanding one.

as he realized you also knew his dog's name, he frowned slightly, pausing his movements and letting the now potato in his hand go with the others. happily, the golden retriever walked up to her owner. “you know apple?”

you got shocked by the sudden inquiry but replied nevertheless. “oh! yeah, i'm a regular customer here, so i got to know her.”

“so you must know my parents then, right?” he laughed briefly, head turning down to resume his work.

“your parents…? you mean mr. and mrs. kang?”

he gave you a smile as he turned to you, nodding. however, his face fell and he fastly wiped his palm once again on his clothes. “i'm so sorry, i haven't introduced myself yet,” he offered his hand to you. “i'm kang taehyun, the owners' son.”

reality hit you with a truck when you realized he was the beloved son mrs. kang always mentioned, and the comment about college made everything click in your mind. you shook taehyun's hand back in pure astonishment as if you had just met a celebrity. “y/n. it's so great to finally meet you. your mom always tells me good things about you.”

“oh, does she?” taehyun scraped the back of his neck embarrassedly, a faint blush on his tanned face. “that sounds like her. she's very kind to everyone.”

taehyun finished counting the vegetables and telling you the final price (with the discount). as you rummaged through your wallet for the money, he hurriedly scribbled on a post-it note, sneaking it into one of your eco bags.

“thank you for buying with us, y/n. i'll make an effort to be here more often and see you again.” the youngest kang promised after the exchange ended, waving bashfully. apple barked right after his vow, sealing and officializing it.

“thanks, taehyun. i hope we'll get to see each other soon,” you returned the wave and began to walk away.

“hey, y/n!” taehyun's voice called out whilst you reached the entrance of the market. you spun around only to see him with an arm raised. “don't forget to check if you've got everything in your bags!”

immediately, you opened the bags, superficially counting the food. a yellow thing caught your eye in one of them. the words died in your throat, and the sound that escaped from your lips was a quiet laugh.

Imagine flirting with Yeonjun but having no idea he’s being serious

"Why don't you let me get this?" a voice asked "you're too pretty to pay for your own drink". You smiled already knowing the smug expression Yeonjun had on his face without having to turn around. "Yeah but if we're going by that rule I'd have to buy you yours because you're gorgeous" you replied spinning around. Yeonjun pretended to swoon and you laughed picking up your glass. You paid for your drink and then nodded to him “see you around”. "Later Y/n" he winked and you smiled at him before walking away.

"What on earth was that?" your friend asked and you smiled "what Yeonjun? He's cute isn't he?". "Yeah, are you two together?". "What? No! We're just playing around". "It didn’t seem like it" your friend cried but you just smiled. “Ow come on Yeonjun is just a friendly flirt. It’s not proper flirting". "Okay so how about the way he stared at you when you walked away?". You shrugged "he was probably not even looking at me just staring in my direction. Trust me Yeonjun isn’t interested in me". He was.

Yeonjun watched you walk away and then sighed as once again you thought he was joking. "Struck out another time?" Beomgyu asked appearing. Yeonjun jumped "we need to get you a bell". "She had no idea you're interested in her" Beomgyu brutally pointed out. Yeonjun rolled his eyes "don't you think i know that?". “Then why aren’t you acting any differently?” Beomgyu asked “to let her know you like her?”. Yeonjun sighed “and just how would I do that, please tell me Beomgyu because you’re so wise!”. Beomgyu raised an eyebrow “don’t appreciate the sarcasm but I will help you because it’s so easy...stop acting like it is a joke. You’ve got to commit to the flirt. So that means no laughing or brushing it off, make her realise you’re serious”. It was actually pretty good advice but Yeonjun was still stuck “but how?”. Beomgyu rolled his eyes “do I have to teach you everything? When you flirt with her look into her eyes, go all serious for a few seconds and if you can, blush a little and say “i’m being serious T/n””and really emphasise her name”. At that moment Huening Kai and Soobin appeared. “Hey, what are we talking about?” Soobin asked. “I’m giving Yeonjun tips on how to let Y/n know he’s being serious when he flirts with her”. “Ahh he struck out again?” Huening asked and Beomgyu nodded. Yeonjun sighed “Beomgyu’s given me this checklist of things to do...” and he repeated them “tell me he’s not crazy”. “He’s not, that actually sounds pretty great” Soobin nodded and Beomgyu smiled proudly. Yeonjun sighed defeated “fine but help me practice it!”.

So the members did and by the next day they declared him ready. You and Yeonjun were MCing together which the members argued would be an excellent time to put everything into practice. Yeonjun wasn’t too sure but he was ready for you to notice him more so he agreed. 

Yeonjun was waiting to begin hosting when he spotted you making your way over to him. He saw what you were wearing and began to applaude you. You noticed and laughed slightly "good?". Yeonjun nodded "you look really beautiful Y/n" and worked on making it sound serious like Beomgyu said. It seemed to work because you paused and glanced at his face with a blush. "Thanks...you look really nice too". Yeonjun smiled and touched his chest without thinking "we're kind of matching" referring to the complimentary colours of your outfits. You nodded grinning "we are! see we're already pros at this. I knew we'd smash this". Yeonjun agreed and got ready for the cameras to start rolling. 

Halfway through the show and so far things had been good. Yeonjun had been sneaking in flirts when he could and you seemed to notice he was being more serious about them. Yeonjun was feeling pretty confident when the worst happened, another guy started out-doing him. 

You were interviewing Ateez and while the group were normally very fun and playful today there were even more energetic and one member in particular was clearly fond of you. San had been bringing you into the conversation every chance he got and kept complimenting you, making you blush. Yeonjun couldn't believe San was flirting with you so blatantly but he wasn't about to let someone jump in the middle of all his hard work. 

Once the interview was over the boys went to leave but San stayed. “That was a really great interview Y/n...I have to ask, you’ve done this before right? Because you seem like a pro”. You blushed and Yeonjun saw even some of San’s members smirk at his flirting. You shook your head “no I haven’t”. “You’re kidding right?” San asked his face deadly serious and he continued to tease you, insisting you must’ve done this before. Finally Yeonjun interjected “I can confirm Y/n is just extremely talented and good at everything she does” Yeonjun smiled. “Ow yeah?” San asked smiling as you blushed. Yeonjun nodded “we’ve been friends a while and every day she surprised me with how great she is”  Yeonjun smiled looking directly at you "she's very special". You blushed, looking down and San realised there was something there between the two of you and backed off.

After Ateez had left Yeonjun turned to you “so I was thinking, maybe we could go out together after this to celebrate our successful night”. You smiled “yeah I think that sounds really great...” blushing slightly “should we head there together?”. Yeonjun nodded “sounds good” and he walked away feeling very successful. 

Yeonjun walked back to his dressing room and found his other members there getting ready to perform. Beomgyu saw the smile on his face and paused “it worked?”. Yeonjun blushed as Soobin gasped and Taehyun’s mouth dropped open. “Really?” Huening asked “you’re dating Y/n!”. Yeonjun shushed the excited maknae “i’m not...yet, but we’re going out together at the end of the show”. That got them all excited and Yeonjun gave into it, getting excited with them. He didn’t even hit Beomgyu for proclaiming everyone had to call him the doctor of love from now on. He was that happy!  

The rest of the show passed quickly and when the cameras cut you turned to Yeonjun “give me five minutes to get my stuff and we can go?”. “Sounds great” Yeonjun smiled “I’ll get us a car”. He waited awkwardly near your dressing room and said hello to all your members as they passed. They shot him smug smiles and practically delivered you to him suppressing their giggles and barely hiding their happiness. “We’ll see you at the club Y/n” they called and as you were walking away one added “have her home by 12 Yeonjun!”. You went bright red and shook your head “I’m going to kill her!” but Yeonjun just laughed “how about 12:30?” he called back making you blush even more. 

When you arrived Yeonjun told the woman his name and she nodded “your table is ready sir” and you shot him a look. “I called ahead and had them arrange a table for us” he explained. You smiled “that’s so sweet but you didn’t have to, I know it’s expensive here”. Yeonjun shook his head “but I wanted to make it special! Something tells me I’ll always remember the night I MCed with you”. You blushed but nodded “yeah I think I will too”. 

You were led to a table in a VIP area of the club but still central enough to have all the atmosphere and fun. A bottle of champagne was chilling in an ice bucket and some nice snacks on the table. Yeonjun popped the cork and passed you a glass “to a job well done”. You nodded “cheers” and clinked glasses. “So” Yeonjun smiled “we’ve been friends for a while but I don’t think we’ve ever actually sat down and talked before”. You nodded “yeah we haven’t, it’s always just quips exchanged across a crowded room”. “Well I’m glad to finally engage in something more personal with you” Yeonjun smiled making a chill go up your spine. 

You and Yeonjun chatted for an hour before even realising how much time had passed. You talked about everything from serious topics like family, being an idol etc to stupid stuff like who was your favourite pokemon and why. It was so nice to be alone together and give one another your undivided attention. Plus he wasn’t all serious, there was plenty of flirting but it felt different now and more real. Once you’d finished your second bottle of champagne Yeonjun noticed you waving to your friends on the dance floor and smiled “would you like to dance?”. 

You knew Yeonjun was a good dancer but you didn’t expect to have so much fun! Yeonjun twirled you around and you laughed loving the sensation. "I think we did a pretty excellent job!" you cried and he smiled "we did. Thanks for being my partner". "Anytime" you smiled and Yeonjun nodded "okay how about Friday night?". You grinned "deal" but weren't being serious so instead of moving on Yeonjun paused. "No I mean it. Are you free Friday night?" Yeonjun asked. You paused "I...you're really asking me out?". Yeonjun nodded "I've been trying to work up the courage to do it for ages but yes I'm finally asking you out". You blushed "I...had no idea you were serious. I figured you were joking". Yeonjun smiled "nope I meant every word I ever said to you" and you blushed "wow that's a lot...". Yeonjun nodded "so what's your answer now you know I'm definitely being serious". You smiled "I'd love to of course" and Yeonjun grinned a goofy grin that made you smile even more. "Cool...cool" he nodded looking dazed and you smiled. 

He suddenly focused on something behind you and blushed. You turned to see his members gesturing to him and doing anything to make him blush. They froze when they saw you. Soobin smiled awkwardly, Taehyun stared, Beomgyu did a thumbs up and Huening Kai just turned around. You laughed and Yeonjun sighed “I’m going to kill them later”. You grinned “fair enough but how about we give them something to stare at?”. Yeonjun saw the glint in your eye and smiled “I’m down”. You smiled and leant in to kiss him. 

“Oh my god!” Beomgyu yelled and Huening Kai let out a squeal. “They’re kissing!” Soobin cried and Taehyun nodded “on the mouth!”. The two of you kissed a while too and when you separated you both looked over at the members. You burst into laughter seeing them all gaping at you and carried on dancing happily the rest of the night.
