FINALLY WE GET TO THE PART MADA APPEARS!
As Tobirama is over here with the Harem and also endearing himself to Kagami teaching the boy proper science etiquette but also showing him really cool shit like when a certain liquid turns gold purple, Madara is having his own personal crisis;
Uchiha Madara is gay.
Super gay. if you were to look at his blood it'd be rainbow colors. He knew he was gay at a young age and was never ashamed of himself, though he keeps it secret cause the rest of the world might not welcome an Emperor that is "fated to end the lineage of Amaterasu" so while his closest friends and family know Madara would rather get a hand on another man's pillar the world is none the wiser.
He likes em pecs and biceps, tall and broad shoulders, big hands and long fingers, he likes em pretty he likes em manly he is the single most sexually repressed homosexual on the planet.
And he has a Harem full of women.
That why he avoids the Harem like one would the plague, he's half convinced that he'll break out into hives if a single lady looking to seduce him flutters their eyelashes in his direction.
Except the Harem has been acting a bit strange lately and when asked, Hikaku tells him that there is a male concubine who'd just arrived. Who? A Concubine Senju, the younger brother of Senju Hashirama. And Madara can't help but be curious about this male concubine though he imagines the other as being a cookie cutter version of the goofy advisor scholar. He likes Hashirama just fine but Hashi is a bit too...hetrosexual for his tastes. So he investigates Concubine Senju.
Dressed down from his usual Dragon robes, he now looks like a wealthy young lord who might come and go from the Forbidden Palace as a friend of Prince Izuna and that's the cover story he's going for.
He thinks he's so smart and smooth right up until he catches sight of Concubine Senju.
Loses. His. Fucking. Mind.
WHO GAVE HASHIRAMA'S LITTLE BROTHER THE RIGHT TO LOOK THAT GOOD?!
Tobirama over here minding his own business teaching Kagami how to build a kite on the lakeside and Madara is hiding in the bushes convinced that the ethereal creature he's spying on is some mythical fairy. Madara's heart is beating rapidly in his chest and the more and more he watches Tobira interact sweetly with Kagami the Emporer flushes further and further.
Something draws Tobirama's attention and Madara takes his chance to step out of the bushes and attempt to approach like he's not already infatuated.
Tobirama does not care for this suspicious young lord that's attempting to talk to him, resoundly tells this man who can't even brush his own hair that he's the Emperor's property, untouchable. (neither understand or cares why his words make the other flush red. perhaps the young lord is angry?)
Madara makes up his mind right then and there that he's going to woo the fuck out of this moon nymph and probably wring Hashirama's neck for not warning him that his little brother is such a fair beauty.
The problem is; Madara has no clue how to woo the other man. It's not like he could've learned how to flirt! He was the Crown Prince and then Emperor at a very young age, he's getting a crash coarse on how to woo a man right now!
And Tobirama keeps running into the young lord. At first it was somewhat annoying cause his studying just kept being interrupted by this stuttering, sweaty man but then it becomes kinda...cute. It takes a while for Tobirama to understand that the young lord is trying to woo him and when he does he puts his entire foot down.
Because he's the Emperor's Concubine.
And if this young lord were to take a single step out of line, if a single rumor gets out that they are 'closer than they should' it's viable for execution.
Madara's getting cockblocked by the Emperor.

Intentionally
This is Part 2 to Unintentionally.
Still crack, still entirely for my own amusement.
Aside from the fact that Uchiha Kagami kept wanting to see ‘Tobira-senpai’ again, Senju Tobirama rescuing several of their children was something most Uchiha quickly forgot. Some decided it was just a one-off odd occurence. Some pointed out that the Senju’s White Demon never liked child killers, specifically going after those Uchiha squads when he himself was a child, so of course he wasn’t going tokill their children. But, in general, the oddness of it was forgotten, and not talked about.
Unless Uchiha Izuna was in earshot. Then Uchiha Tajima loved to talk about it since it made his son turn such delightful shades and show so much emotion. (Mostly irritation and confusion, because, as he pointed out, Senju Tobirama returned their children. He didn’t just save them, he brought them as close to the compound as he could without alerting the guard. And no. Izuna still can’t fathom why Tobirama would do so.)
They fought the Senju as normal, and never brought it up. Senju Tobirama didn’t treat them any differently either, so, it truly didn’t matter.
(Aside from that day when Senju Tobirama’s Water Dragon took form of a Water Koi and Tajima almost got stabbed because he couldn’t help laughing at the face Izuna made; horror, offence, embarrassment and concern- most likely about what else the kids told Tobirama- mixed together before he just turned to anger. Tajima looks back on that day with fondness, while Izuna chucked Madara in the koi pond upon returning home, and does so anytime he brings it up.)
Getting captured by Hagoromo was... embarrassing. Tajima could admit that, glaring at the chakra suppressors on his wrists. If he was at his full strength, he would be able to escape with ease. However, due to an unfortunate injury that Tajima will not disclose the source of, he was compound-bound, at most, half his normal strength. He had been assisting others with the laundry, as that was the most exertion he could do, when they had been attacked by the Hagoromo. Tajima had fought back, distracted them long enough for everyone else to get back to the compound, to safety, but, it had worsened his injury and he couldn’t follow. By the time reinforcements had come, the Hagoromo had taken Tajima away.
The Hagoromo, nice as they were, stopped his injury from getting worse, mostly since, if they didn’t, he could die. And clearly, they wanted him alive. Not that Tajima was surprised. They could do a lot with another clan leader. None of it good for the Uchiha.
So, Tajima was quite surprised when Senju Tobirama dropped into the middle of the Hagoromo camp, entirely unfazed by the weapons pointed at him, crossing his arms and giving off a very bored air. He was also, for once, not dressed for battle. Not wearing any armor, or having any visible weapons. In fact, he seems to be almost casual. Black pants, a blue kimono shirt mostly open to reveal armour mesh- the only clear armour on the man- held partially shut with a black sash.
Tajima wishes Izuna was with him, because there is no way his son is ever believing him when he tells him Senju Tobirama has casual wear.
He sighs before speaking, “I still find this inane, however. Anija still insists I give you the option to leave peacefully. So. Get out of Senju land now, and you’ll keep your heads.” Senju Tobirama states, glaring down the leader as if this entire interaction was beneath him.
The Hagoromo leader- Tajima never bothered to catch his name, presuming the man would be killed by one of his sons before it became relevant- sneers in response. “You’re surrounded. Even if you’re the Senju’s Demon, you can’t defeat us without dying yourself.”
Senju Tobirama tilts his head slightly, blinking slowly, “If I did not wish to be, I would not be surrounded. Do you think any of your people are fast enough to strike me before I escape?” Senju Tobirama challenges. “Further, I can quite easily bring them to their knees without moving a muscle.”
The Hagoromo leader laughs at that, “You Senju surely think highly of yourselves.”
“We think ourselves capable.” Senju Tobirama refutes. That, Tajima agrees with. Senju’s, if anything, will downplay their abilities. In general, if a Senju tells you their skill level, the safest bet is always to double it, at least. “Now. Either leave our lands immediately, or be killed.” Senju Tobirama orders.
“How about, no. And we kill you. Don’t think we’ve forgiven the squad you killed.”
“I wouldn’t want you to.” Senju Tobirama dismisses. “Any of the Hagoromo squads I’ve killed. The first several were child killers, who are not permitted in Senju lands, and the most recent were slavers, also not permitted in Senju lands. If you do not wish your squads dead, do not bring them into Senju lands when they break our laws. One day you’re going to anger Hashirama, and then you’ll wish you were dealing with me.”
The Hagoromo laughs, but Tajima knows how true the threat is. He’s not a fool, Hashirama is fucking insane. Little is known about the Senju’s famed Mokuton, but Tajima knows more than most. He knows that Mokuton, for it’s name, is not just the control of wood. It’s the control of nature. Of the crops. Of the fruit. Of the flowers. If Hashirama wished to, he could force subjugation. Keep the soil untenable until all the clans agree to live under the Senju banner. Tajima had assumed Hashirama’s personality was to balance that, keep people from being entirely terrified of him when he could, quite easily, play god. He knew Hashirama went easy on Madara most of the time, and to be fair, Madara wasn’t actually fighting all that seriously either. (It was a headache and a half, but, at least he didn’t need to worry about Madara dying in battle anytime soon.)
But, the other thing. Tajima hadn’t known the Hagoromo had stooped to slavery. They owed Senju Tobirama more than they knew if that is the fate he saved their children from.
“Kill him.”
Senju Tobirama sighs, and suddenly there is an oppressive force of chakra. Tajima eyes blow wide as those closest to the Senju fall back, some outright running away, and Tajima has a feeling that everyone has the exact same feeling of utter dread as himself. Until suddenly the chakra was gone and Senju Tobirama was on the move. Faster than Tajima had seen him (did he go easy on Izuna? Tajima hadn’t thought so but if he could move this quickly, Tajima’s not even sure the sharigan could follow him reliably), leaving Hagoromo bodies in his wake. When Tajima sees Senju Tobirama appear in front of him, the man stumbles slightly, utterly covered in blood. Senju Tobirama grimances in distaste when he sees his hands, shaking his head and muttering to himself.
Nothing Tajima could understand.
“Is this the part where you take me for the Senju?” Tajima asks, partly curious and partly because he couldn’t take waiting in silence.
Senju Tobirama arches an eyebrow at him. “Anija wants peace with you, holding you hostage wouldn’t assist in that.”
“It would force the Uchiha to open up talks to get me back.” Should Tajima be giving them advice? Hell no. But it’s not like Butsuma was around to do so, may his bastard soul suffer, and standing in front of him like this, it’s hard to forget Tobirama is only sixteen. Hashirama had just turned eighteen. Neither of them really knew how to lead a clan and Elders were... Elders.
Senju Tobirama snorts, “That would start the peace talks off in a negative way, it would be forced rather than mutually wanted. Anija wants the peace to last, if it starts off being forced, in years to come, Uchiha will start to bristle and buck and the peace will be broken.”
“Is that why you saved our children?” Call Tajima crazy, but he thinks Senju Tobirama just smiled. Not like his brother, a barely there half thing, but, it was definitely a smile.
“No. But Izuna’s attempts at an interrogation these past few weeks have been rather amusing.”
Huh. Tajima hadn’t known Izuna was badgering Tobirama about why he did it. His continuous irritation at the event makes more sense now. If he couldn’t get an answer from Tobirama, Tajima broaching it often would irritate the hell out of Izuna.
“So, if you’re not going to take me hostage, what do you plan to do with me?”
“Nothing.” Tajima takes offence at the teenager leveling a ‘are you stupid’ look at him. “Go home. I don’t care, get out of our lands.”
“I can’t walk.” Tajima states, as much as he hates to bring up his weakness to an enemy, it was rather necessary. “And these are a rather heavy impediment.” Tajima adds, holding up his wrists to show the chakra blockers.
Senju Tobirama rolls his eyes, walking forward to look at the cuffs, huffing before moving his finger along the lock, slowly and carefully, like one might handle lockpicks. Tajima’s eyebrows pop up when the cuffs unlock and fall off. How-
Senju Tobirama was already sending him a flat look, a single finger up and extending from it, a thin stream of chakra in the shape of a lock pick. “Easier than carrying them everywhere. Why can’t you walk?”
Yeah. Tajima is definitely not telling an enemy that. He hasn’t even told Izuna what happened, and hopefully, Izuna will never find out. “It’s, complicated.”
“Can you actually not walk or is it an ankle thing?”
“My hip, actually.”
“...Do Uchiha have raised beds?”
“No.” What the fuck? How was that relevant?
“Hm. Some Senju do. Anija did, until I had it removed because he fell off of it and cracked his head open.” Senju Tobirama was saying as he shifts, glowing green hands hovering over Tajima’s side. “This was last month, mind you. His body automatically heals itself when it can, but head wounds are tricky. So, he woke up on the floor, saw nothing wrong, and went about his day. With his entire head covered in blood. He didn’t realize, and no adult was going to say anything in case it was an entirely intentional move, until one of the kids asked about the dye on his head. Then he freaked out and started crying. Which, is what I came back to.” Senju Tobirama meets Tajima’s eyes. “I need you to picture this, I finish a mission and am returning home in good time, expecting everything to be perfectly fine. And instead, I find my elder brother crying his eyes out while his head is covered in his own blood, and when I get close enough to hear what he’s crying about, he’s sobbing about no one telling him he was walking around covered in blood.”
Tajima shakes his head, feeling incapable of imagining the Hashirama he’s only seen on a battlefield (and once not when the boy was twelve), crying while covered in blood. The covered in blood part he had no problem with, the crying part was where he was having trouble. But the situation sounded, both stressful and amusing.
“I yelled at him for being a dramatic idiot and took away his raised bed so it wouldn’t happen again.” Senju Tobirama shrugs, and stands, brushing his hands off. “Can you walk now?”
Tajima’s immediate retort of “Of course not brat.” rose to his tongue, but he held it down and instead tried to stand, and found it rather easy. In fact, his hip didn’t hurt at all. He blinks down, a little startled at it being perfectly fine when their medics had told him it would be at least a month before he would be better. “How-”
“Medical ninjutsu. Anija’s creation. Well, the techniques are his creation.” Senju Tobirama shrugs again, as if it wasn’t a big deal. “The older you get, the easier it can be for bones to break. Try not to fall down the stairs again, it could actually be fatal.”
Tajima flinches, how in the hell- before Tajima could ask, Senju Tobirama disappears into to the trees. Tajima sighs and looks around at the carnage, all the Hagoromo bodies around, and decides, Senju lands, Senju problem, and starts heading home. He gets partway before Senju Tobirama appears in front of him, making him stop.
“Your compound is that way.” Senju Tobirama states, pointing to his left. “I did not think, sometimes iryochakra affects direction. Still working out the kinks.”
Tajima raises and eyebrow and crosses his arms, “And how do I know you’re not just lying to me?”
Senju Tobirama arches an eyebrow right back. “If I wanted to kidnap you, I would not have gone through the hassle of healing you and taking off your restraints, as you pointed out earlier. Further, I am only warning you off this way because you are going to the nortern part of our lands, and that area is very dangerous. I do not wish to deal with your children claiming I killed you because you wandered into the wrong area of our forest.”
“What’s so dangerous about it?”
Senju Tobirama sighs, “It’s where Hashirama’s... emotions go when they infect his mokuton. In short, unless you’re myself or Hashirama, the forest will actively try to kill you. Our clansmen call it Death Grove.”
Well. Isn’t that... pleasant.
“That way?” Senju Tobirama nods and Tajima hesitates. He is curious about one thing, and since Senju Tobirama doesn’t seem inclined to fight right now... “Have you always been able to move this fast?”
Senju Tobirama arches an eyebrow, “For a while.”
“You just, don’t on the battlefield.”
Understanding dawns in Senju Tobirama’s eyes, “Armour and the katana weigh me down. Anija’s forbidden me from training to speed up with them on. Some concern or another I didn’t pay attention to.” Tajima’s eyebrows jump, he’d expect the admission from Hashirama, not, Tobirama. From what he knew of the younger Senju, he expected the man to be a more strict follower. Tobirama snorts, “Anija’s concerns are ridiculous and patronizing, I don’t listen to any he doesn’t force me to, and in return I don’t point out how stupid he is.” Tobirama crosses his arms, shoulders dropping, “Now, do you need an escort as well, or can you make it back to your compound unaccompanied?”
Well, if Senju Tobirama was offering...
Upon returning to the Uchiha Compound, and being attacked by his sons in an effort to check on him and cling to him, Tajima almost forgets to tell them. Almost. Thankfully, Izuna asks how he got away and why his leg wasn’t hurting him anymore, and Tajima can’t help the grin that stretches across his face as he answers, “Senju Tobirama rescued me, healed me and then escorted me home.”
Izuna stares at Tajima for several seconds before he starts screeching incomprehensibly.
“He was also in casual wear.” Tajima adds, which, makes Izuna stop for a full minute before he visibly reboots.
Madara seemed slightly concerned and very confused, eyes flitting between the two as Izuna resumes his incomprehensible screeching.
Ah.
It was good to be a dad.

“Uchiha Izuna,” it—he rasps dryly, face cold as marble. “Good morning. Would you tell me why your brother keeps throwing gifts in my face everytime we meet?”
Looking at the sides of his futon with the sudden realization that Tobira isn’t letting him goes anywhere, with the heavy body almost smashing him in the mattress, Izuna thinks about how he should tell a fucking siren that his absolute insane brother is trying to propose in a very, very archaic way.
Giving a trembling, wry smile at the thing, Izuna shivers heavily when the siren smiles back, with too many sharp teeths to be peaceful or friendly in any way.
And they’ve the audacity to tell Izuna was the one who hadn’t any survival instinct remaining.

Written for @madatobiweek, Week 1: Folklore and mythology // The moment I knew. Read on AO3 or under the cut :)
(my bad for any mistake or something guys. english, as you'll see, isn't my first language :p good reading, anyway <3)
Madara had never been a usual lover—always all sharp barbs and rough language used as a comfortable shield to hide the soft gazes he’d give Tobirama—even if, Tobirama supposes, they’ve never been a usual couple either.
Madara is a peculiar creature, Tobirama knows. He’s harsh to deal with, hurdle, and for onces paranoid. But, Tobirama thinks with a nearly fond, in love smile, he would’ve his moments as well.
Like his apparently newly gained obsession with gifts.
It was quite cute from the very first time. A weighty book written in the old language of the dwarfs, that lived in the south. An anklet of silver, and a ring of amestice. Even a couple of heavy fur collars, soft that hurted at the touch, smelling distinguly like Madara.
All the gifts are carefully bestowed inside of his cave, in a safe bubble of air to not screw up with nothing. Was a really sweet action of such a rough man like Madara, rude like Tobirama is pretty aware he usually is, so Tobirama wouldn’t like to waste those kinda rare openly ways to show affection.
Unlike the dragons, sirens like Tobirama in general don't really give a matter to the thing’s price, gold or diamond—even if Tobirama is pretty sure that sirens do not usually get gifts from pleasure. They’re usually too busy with the ‘charming pretty sallys underwater and so devour’-thing to make good first impressions or build relationships.
But, Tobirama supposes, everything certainly has a limit.
And now Madara is nearly to overtake it. Hard.
“FOR YOU,” Madara yells, even if he's one step away from Tobirama, sitting poorly in the river’s muddy margens.
Tobirama blinks at him, wordlessly for a second, but Madara doesn’t offer anything more but turns into his back and runs away, giving Tobirama no chance to thank or say a word.
For the fifty time, just this week.
It’s starting to turn… cansative, Tobirama ponders, looking carefully at the golden mirror in his hands.
Pursing his lips down, Tobirama honestly thinks that this shit is elongating itself for a way more than it would be necessary.
If Madara isn’t going to get his head out of his ass, Tobirama may have some questions to ask the Uchiha.
———————
A drop of water falls down to rest on Izuna’s cheek, followed by another, and another. Izuna struggles himself over asleep, frowning.
Another drop falls through his jaw, to dive inside his open sleep-yakuta, cold as hell, making Izuna quivers hard and wake up suddenly, shaking, just to blink open his eyes, his vision cloudy by the sleepness, and get himself face to face with—all Izuna’s words — a sharp feature elevated above him, pale as a paper with devilish red eyes, imobile, gazing at him deeply.
The only thing that hinders Izuna to scream for help is the creature’s hand put against his mouth. The room still was shadowish by the close fusumas, and a thick trail of water left spots on the tatames. Not daring to look away, Izuna inbreate sharply, wide-eyed looking at the impassive face of the thing above him.
A vision that, for Izuna’s total and absolute terror, slowly starts to remind him disturbingly of some of Madara's descriptions.
And, although Izuna knew Madara has a lover outside the clan—and probably any person that could hear or read lips in the Uchiha did notice Madara being insupportable and repugnantly sweet when he was singing praises at his dearest Tobira— he could never expect a fucking siren just out of Izuna’s wrostes nightmares.
“Uchiha Izuna,” it—he rasps dryly, face cold as marble. “Good morning. Would you tell me why your brother keeps throwing gifts in my face everytime we meet?”
Izuna shallows hardly, repentinaly regretting deeply having fought with Madara to sleep for one more hour instead of attending the clan’s reunion this morning.
———————
Dragons are such beautiful, sweet and possessive creatures, Tobirama learned with the time. Differently from his specie, for onces cold and kinda cruel, hovering in deep, cold waters, so deep that even the light couldn’t come in there sometimes, the dragons aren’t any different from the fire they could spit out.
Their love would burn, deep and beautiful, as blaze fierling all along the night.
Tobirama is a child from the sea; his love isn’t scorching as the dragon’s love is but silent and peaceful like a quiet summer night browsing in calm sea, at the same it is furious and instotable like the worst of the storms. It is measureless as is the ocean, for sure hurdle, for times, but never flawed.
Dragons are explosive as the fire that growls into their veins. They’re imediatalist, and they trust deeply or simply do not. There’s no middle term in love, in family. You’re theirs, or isn’t.
They’re explosions of emotions, stars collapsing in supernovas—all the opposite of Tobirama, cold and racionable when the situation needs, treacherous in confidence, never trusting in no one but himself, despite using it to climb at his objectives, and there’s no shame in admit that: he’s what he’s and wouldn’t change for nobody.
Tobirama knows he’s hard to deal with, but, if there’s a single resemblance between sirens and dragons, when you’re into his heart, you’re there forever—because the tide may change, but the trail will be always there for thoses who venture to travel and conquist. And when Madara stole that kiss from him, Tobirama allowed him to stay, for forever, if he wanted to. He was from Madara from body and soul since that time when Madara’s fingers nuzzled down his scales.
Tobirama chuckles softly to himself, nestling the pearl necklace Madara had given him this week against his chest. He’s just Madara's, but it seems like his koibito doesn’t notice this yet.
Little fool.

“You were building a treasure for me.”
It is the first thing Tobirama says, his voice dry as usual while he points out, when Madara comes into his field of vision.
Naturally, Tobirama knew of the dragon’s tendencies to accumulate, of course. He may have spent half a life peeking around deep waters, but he’s not oblivious. Even Madara already had prided himself for Tobirama after he stole—”found around the battlefield, I ain’t a thief, siren of hell”— a sword or a helmet he considered good enough to be on his particular treasure.
He never thought, however, that this would extend to their partners.
Madara seems to freeze in half a way, a few steps from where he meets Tobirama almost every night. His heavy cloak rock softly with the wind, the stiff scale next to the horns in the temples fading out with the creamy skin the moonlight's light—light that doesn't do anything to hide Madara's soft flush when he stops throughout the trail to the river’s margers, looking anything but absolutely cute.
Who’d say that this ugly mug may be so adorable, Tobirama scoffs mentally, playful, as he perceives Madara starts to look more and more ashamed. So different from the pride warrior he had seen Madara transformed himself amidst the battlefield more than one time, tearing apart flesh with his claws as he'd cutting raw silk.
Tobirama smiles softly, although he’s been pretty aware that his sharp, long teeths probably doesn't seem like an amorous expression at all. "Stop get stood here like a idiot and come here, stupid," Tobirama scoffs gentily.
Madara's eyes narrow thighly, the narrow slits brighting in the night with a soft red glow, but does, taking a step in to sit in the river's margers
Tobirama pushes his body up to rest his head next to Madara's lap.
“You made quite a mess, you know that?” Tobirama said softly. “Your brother seemed to be absolutely terrified when he saw me.”
Madara frowns, widening his eyes a bit.  “Did you go see Izuna?”
“Any problem?” Tobirama asks dryly, arching a cheeky eyebrow. “I was getting tired of having my partner throwing things at me and so turning away to run off, you know.”
Madara grimaces, poking Tobirama’s forehead softly. “Peace, siren of mine. I was just asking.”
Tobirama huffs, as the pride creature Madara knows he’s, narrowing his eyes before getting started again, “he didn’t help, though. I suppose he was too afraid of me eating him alive or something to mutter more than a couple of words without passing out.”
Madara cannot help but laugh. “Sounds like him. And explains why he was looking like a crazy man to the koi pond when I went off.”
“Of the couple of things he could make minimally undestable, I discovered some interesting things,” Tobirama continues dryly, but there’s a background of palpable diversion in his voice. “He said something about ‘absolutely insane relatives’—” Madara turns his eyes there, “—‘stupid courtship’ and I’m pretty sure he did yell a think alike ‘engagement.’”
Madara suddenly curses mentaly his pale skin when his cheeks sembles to catch on fire again, as well the always trained eyes of Tobirama, shining like two rubies in the damp, his gaze burning in his face, watchful at all his little reactions. Huffing to get away his sudden embarrassment, Madara grumbles grumply, “and you connect the dots. Of course you did, fuckin’ genius son of a bitch.”
Tobirama smiles, a simple contraction on the edge of his lips. “Naturally,” he brags himself, the insupportable. “I’d appreciate a contribution of yours, throught.”
Madara grimaces, but doesn’t take a word against him. Cleaning his throat with a soft disgust contraction on his lips, he gets started, “... yes, it’s kind of an engagement, but more like… a proposal. You know that every dragon has a collection of something, right? I collect bright, mortal things. Such as weapons,” Madara explains calmy, but he’s feeling anxious, Tobirama can say by the way he keeps his gaze trained in his hands, an adorable soft flush covering his pale cheeks. “Therefore, when we’ve got interest in someone, it was usual for the dragon to give his interest with gifts to add to their treasure. That’s why I wanted to give you something that would… fit with you. Not just. Trinket."
“I supposed it would be something like that,” Tobirama sings, smiling. “So, I should return your gifts, shouldn’t I?”
Madara whips up himself, stumbling around the words, “I-I mean, if you’d accept the courtship—”
Tobirama laughed. “Oh, you’re such a fool sometimes, my love.” Madara opens his mouth to hash out wrathful, but Tobirama keeps speaking before Madara can have the chance for saying anything, “of course I’d, Madara. If a siren matches, they’d match for a life. There’s no dating. You’re mine and I've been yours since the day I accepted you inside my home.”
Madara blinks. He breathes, “oh.”
Tobirama scoffs before he could hold himself, “oh, fuckin’ jerk.”
Madara squawks aloud, opening his mouth to fuss, but Tobirama just chunkles, getting on his elbows to stand up and press their lips softly.
“I hate you,” Madara murmurs against Tobirama’s mouth a second later, just to make his point.
One of Tobirama’s teeth nips on Madara’s lip lightly, not enough to hurt or to take off blood, but teasing. Feeling playful, Tobirama gently pushes down a handful of Madara’s hair to make him curve next to him, easing the angle for Tobirama to lick inside Madara’s mouth. “I hate you too, sweetheart,” he scoffs, “no worries.”
Madara turns his eyes, sighing when he presses their foreheads together. “Shitty idiot. I was trying to be romantic, y’know.”
Tobirama arches an eyebrow. “I highly doubt you were romantic for a second of your entire life.”
Madara seems to be offended, bristiling like an urchin. “I’m very romantic, thank you! And thinking I did an entire courtship plan to you bawl me out like that…”
Smiling easily, Tobirama nudges softly, “did you, so?”
Madara flusters himself with a petty whiff, getting started grumply, “I mean, it’s a little anquite, but… I wanted to show you that, mm-I mean, like the tradition says. That you aren’t something I’m taking ownership of, but that I am sharing my treasure with you, and what’s mine is yours.”
“That’s,” Tobirama says a couple of moments later, blinking a bit of surprise, but with his voice repugnantly soft and gentle, “especially sweet of you. Thank you, Madara.”
Madara huffs. “Don’t mention it.”
Tobirama rolls his eyes, playfully poking Madara’s tight with sharp teeth. “Don’t be so smug about it.”
Madara arches an eyebrow. “Hope you haven’t forgotten I am an Uchiha. It’s in my blood.”
“Stupidness?” Tobirama asks dryly.
“No. We do like to exhibe our things. Especially those mortal and beautiful. Or just the ones that bite.”
Tobirama’s face covers quickly with red. He grumbles, pouting sulky, “shut the fucking up, Uchiha. That’s the only thing your pea-sized brain can think about?”
“When I’ve a willing, beautiful siren only for me?” Madara smirks. “Absolutely.”
Preening a hand across the soft, sleek scales where it united together with the almost phantasmagoric white skin from Tobirama’s belly, by where it is out of the water, resting in the mud next to one of Madara’s legs, Madara hums happily. “Sirens don't have some type of honeymoon?” he asks serenely.
Tobirama chuckles. “I think they’d.”
“I suppose I’ve to celebrate with my pretty fiancé.” Madara shudders. “Haven’t I?”
“I’m sure you’ve,” Tobirama replies easily, spreading out his arms to deliberately offer Madara a better vision of his chest, letting the way down his belly free, easy for Madara to slip with his hand. Arching an eyebrow, Tobirama asks, “shy now, Madara?”
Madara scoffs aloud. “Nothing I haven’t seen yet, bastard.”
“Tired already of, so?”
“Never.” Madara’s quick to ensure. “You’re always a show aside. And I’d suppose we'll have to consummate. Again. Dragon style.”
Tobirama cannot help but laugh. “Why are you always a shitty mood killer? Better—why do I accept getting engaged with you, from all the people?”
Giggling, Madara noses Tobirama’s jaw absently. “Because you love me, clearly.”
Tobirama does, of course—but it wasn't like he’s going to say it and inflame Madara’s ego more than it already is.
Instead, Tobirama just moans softly when Madara scrapes his blunt teeth in his neck, huffing a blow of heated air against the bruise he certainly left.
Greedy, his lover is, and Tobirama doesn’t do anything to appease that when Madara growls softly some verbal affirmation of that but smiles, his teeth scraping dangerously Madara’s pants, sucking a bruise next to his hips.
Tobirama’s smile is all teeth. “Cute of you to think dragon’s are the only ones with possessive tendencies here.”
———————
“There’s a motherfucker demon living on your koi pond, Madara! Are you fucking crazy?!”
“The demon surely has a name,” Tobirama rumbles, thicc and sharp, a dark playfulness trickling on his tone, from where he’s upholding his head on his hands, above the engawa, arching an eyebrow to Izuna as he smiles, all teeth.
“Madara!” Izuna cries out. “He’ll pull my feet when you’re asleep and so drown me! Look at him!”
Tobirama hums, without any shame, and, perhaps propositaly, arches his upper lip a bit to show his teeth better, as he’d growling.
“He’s learning how to smile,” Madara grumbles at him, blind by passion. Or charmed, Izuna thinks, narrowing his eyes to the thing, floating in the koi pond, looking absolutely suspiciously serene. “And Tobirama will be perfectly fine. He’ll not drown you or anyone. Stop being rude with my bride, Izuna! Where’s your manners?”
While Madara keeps talking around and complaining about Izuna, Tobirama arches a sharp eyebrow at him. “Easy now, Izuna. I’m living here, and I’d hate to eat my brother-in-law accidentally.”
Whimpering, Izuna would like to know where he could sign up to change from his family, thank you so much.

10/5/21
So this is literally like the first update to the blog in over four years, but I've been studying Japanese again! It's been over 3 months now. In this post I'm going to go into the resources I'm using, and some goals of mine. If it helps you out, that's great. However I'm mostly just writing this to keep track of my progress.
I'm in N4 territory, though I'm not studying for the JLPT. I might take it someday but I don't think I'd bother with anything but N1.
Vocabulary
I'm using the Wanikani anki deck. I had a WK subscription years ago but I'm just more of a fan of doing this at a slightly adjusted pace. Almost six years ago I was at level 21-ish, I've been doing it daily now and I'm at level 11. I started at 10 new words per day but I upped it to 20 maybe a month ago. I'm still relearning material that my brain has deep in its recesses, but once I get past where I stopped I might lower the new words per day. I also want to get more into immersing so this deck, while great for me to pick up habits, and make sure I learn something every. single. day.--it's not the only vocab source I intend to have. Though after all this time it has definitely been the one thing that has made learning less daunting.
Grammar
I went through the new Tobira book for beginners. Its equivalent to Genki I. I found it pretty cool but not as different from Genki as I'd hoped. I'm just glad I got my hands on it because that's really what got me back into learning Japanese this past summer.
Now I've moved on to Genki II since Tobira II won't be out until next year. What can I say about Genki? It's Genki. I'm really just speeding through, reading grammar explanations, dialogues, and the passages in the back of the book.
Aside from this, I use, read, and refer to Sakubi, Tae Kim, Shin Kanzen Master N4, Try! N4, and Nihongo Challenge N4.
Immersion
Ah, pain. To just be upfront, my listening sucks. I don't practice it like I should. Moving on...
For reading I read NHK Easy news. As you can imagine, lately it's mostly about COVID but it's also pretty interesting and usually not too bad.
I started a kids novel last night. The series is called ポレポレ日記. It's aimed at girls around 12-ish, but it's not a fantasy setting so reading the first few pages last night, the vocabulary isn't too hard. The grammar is kicking my butt though. Even when I recognize patterns it's difficult to fully parse some sentences. I just pick up what I can and move on though. I don't know if I'll get through since it's very easy for me to become fatigued and discouraged when immersing, but compared to some other books for kids I've tried reading, I felt really good about the fact that most of the kanji and words on the first few pages of this book were ones that I already knew.
I definitely recommend Kodansha's Blue Bird line of books if you are interested in novels aimed at preteens and early teens. Kindle Unlimited Japan has a ton. Struggling through this is at least more fun than reading picture books.
The thing is, I'm not studying Japanese to move there, or to get a job, or for school, I'm just doing it to consume media. With that in mind, I want to get into native material as soon as I can! I've seen way too many people who go through Genki I/II, then Integrated Approach to Intermediate Japanese, then Tobira, then all JLPT study materials, and then still feel a huge brick wall is in front of them when they confront reading native material. So I would like to kick that wall down as soon as possible.
Goals
My current short term goals are just to finish Genki II, get through Tae Kim reread, and read all the passages in Nihongo Challenge N4. If I put my mind to it, these things could be finished by the end of October. Truthfully they could be finished by the end of next week but I need time to just let things marinate in my brain.
I would put finish this book I'm reading on my list of short term goals, but I still need more time to figure out if this is really something I think I can get through.
Medium term: Hard to define. I'd like to finish my Wanikani deck by January 2023 which would mean from here on out I do an average of 16 words per day. I'd like to one way or another, finish something in Japanese. Whether it be a visual novel, otome game, a jrpg, a novel, an anime, or a drama. Once I get more comfortable with reading I'd like to read at least one book in Japanese per month.
Long term: I'd like to be able to play and comfortably read Dragon Quest X without translation tools. Honestly this isn't even that lofty of a goal, but yeah!

BIGBANG Lyrics: Stay
English translation and romanization (with parts labeled) below.
ENGLISH
Can you feel me now Take a deep breath and let me explain All the pain that's been wreckin my brain Gettin so close to goin' insane And see you standing there And the feelin' never gonna be the same seems like we missed the whole damn train Blame is all we have for us
And I can let it get in the way Even if the love is the costly price to pay Lookin' back like love was the game or cliche Gotta move away sacrifice my heart and let you breath again baby girl
It’s too late for everything The fact that she was silent sometimes Is a lonely sign Now that I’m alone
I took her being at my side For granted... I really did The text I sent you Said User unknown
She left her Promise Ring In the corner of an empty closet Even though we picked it out together For her Birthday
Before the door closes   Baby please don’t go away I blame the things I couldn’t bring myself to say   Want you to stay I might regret it now   I know it’s late But no one could ever replace her I want you to stay want you to stay
The last thing said Was “thanks,” not “goodbye” Which meant things were over between us Getting over me
Proof I wasn’t able to give her What she wanted The Key to our mailbox End of the story
Night’s coming soon To the room where I’m alone Now I can’t even see her Smiling in pictures
There’s no way I could ever forget you   Baby please don’t fade away You’ll never vanish, 24/7   Want you to stay I’m so sad   I know it’s late Her existence in my life was something I should’ve protected I want you to stay want you to stay

Scrapbook: In which I declare my love for the umpteenth time
[This was originally targeted to be published in October, but shit happened and I don’t think I will ever finish this now, so I’m posting it as is.]
[No, that’s not the kind of title I would have used if this was a proper, finished post.]
Have you played the demo for Octopath Traveler? It's a gorgeous looking game, and it looks fun. It's shaping up to be the Romancing SaGa of what Bravely Default was to classic Final Fantasy. On top of that, the music is wonderful. Too bad I don't have a Switch.
I hope you didn't think I'd write about my impression on the game.
Here's the thing though: I love Yasunori Nishiki, the composer. I love his music with my whole being, more than anything that isn't charming Spanish Flamenco or Tango inspired music. Oh, it just happens he has written such songs too. As you can see, he's really high in my list, I think he's one of the best composers I've heard in recent years.
And so with Octopus Octopath being the topical thing at the moment, there's no better time to talk about him than now! And I'd like to introduce a couple of his songs!
>> Profile
Yasunori Nishiki was born in Kanagawa, Japan, on July 10, 1985. Nishiki graduated from Film Scoring program of Tokyo College of Music in 2009 and joined KONAMI directly after.
His first contribution as a composer in Konami was for Quiz Magic Academy VII, released in 2010. He continued composing for the series until the ninth installment, Quiz Magic Academy Kenja no Tobira, after which he left the team to be the sound director and main composer of then-new Oreca Battle. He later also became the sound director of another game related to Oreca, the arcade version of the mobile game Dragon Collection.
Behind the alias Vivian, he first debuted in Bemani, Konami's line of arcade music games, in REFLEC BEAT colette, 2012, with the song guerre à outrance. His latest appearance in Bemani to date was in beatmania IIDX 23 copula, 2015. It is currently unknown if he will use this alias again in the future.
He also made contributions to a number of console titles, such as NeverDead and Frontier Gate - which he composed almost half of the soundtrack of.
In 2015, Nishiki left Konami and started freelancing. Outside of Konami, he took on various projects, working as a composer/arranger or synth manipulator amongst others. The projects he has written composition for include SHOW BY ROCK!!, the theme song of Fate/Extella, the anime adaptation of Granblue Fantasy, and the latest, Square Enix's Project Octopath Traveler.
So, I've been following Nishiki's activities ever since I first heard Vanity in jubeat saucer. That was in December 2012? Five years ago? How time flies! Around that time was also when I started getting into QMA music.
By the way, I mentioned Romancing SaGa above, but did you know Nishiki made an official rearrangement of SaGa music for SE's Lord of Vermillion Arena? It was SaGa Frontier 2, though.
Anyway, wow, Octopath Traveler. I didn't think the day when he would be recognized by so many people would come so soon, but here we are. I'm so proud, so happy for him. It makes me want to introduce some of his songs that may share the same style as Octopath.
I like to take any chance I can get to introduce his music to people, particularly his Oreca songs, and this time isn't any different. If you have ever wondered why Oreca in particular, there are two reasons why. The first is, Konami has uploaded a lot of Oreca songs to YouTube, making it easier to share them the legal/officially approved way. The second is, in my opinion, Oreca was where Nishiki shone the brightest in his time in Konami.
Nishiki worked on Oreca ever since it was first developed then released in 2012, and he kept composing for it until he left Konami in 2015. Within that time period, he composed and arranged about 150 songs for this little game alone, his songs making up more than half of its whole soundtrack at the time of the writing of this post.
The reason behind the huge number of songs in this game is because, being a constantly updated arcade game, it has lots and lots of boss characters, and almost every one of them has a battle theme of their own. It also has a decent number of stage music and such, but those character themes make up most of the game's soundtrack.
This is where Nishiki showed his true potential. Back when he was in QMA sound team, he only composed orchestral songs. In Oreca, he still was fond of orchestral songs (and still is until now), but to realize the vision of unique character battle themes he branched into other genres, revealing the versatile artist in him. From electronic and pop to rock and metal, from ethnic and classic sounds to modern ones, from mellow to aggressive - he covered everything he could.
[Then my plan was to review some of his Oreca songs, but, well. Below are the songs I considered to be included in this post, along with some short comments instead.]
[Of course I wouldn’t have included everything if I finished this post. Choosing is hard, however.]
Great Sorcery Mimi & Sisi's Theme: A safe song that played straight to his strengths, but a solid one nevertheless. It’s unexpectedly complex for a pair of goofy mice. I adore the sense of adventure in this song.
Mage Knight Chaos Magica's Theme: I’ve always felt Nishiki’s music might have some baroque roots, then this song came.
Deep Sea Emperor Barolo's Theme: This is the last boss. That was the feeling I got when I first heard this song.
Underworld God Anubis' Theme: I wanted to include this just to make a point that his dominantly electronic work can be as strong as everything else by him.
Kudlak's Theme: I like to call this song “Faux Castlevania” but really. It’s a song for a vampire character, I won’t be surprised if it was intentional. Oh, and, Nishiki rearranged Beginning too for Oreca. Despite being Faux Castlevania, this song is still brimming with his usual details.
Thin Ice Knight Dante's Theme: A rearrangement of a popular song for a popular character - popular between Oreca players, at least. A cold and lonely arrangement of an elegant song.
Purgatory Emperor Ares' Theme: Menacing, dark, and moody. It also has another version featuring Yuma Ito’s solo violin. You can never have enough of his violin when it comes to Nishiki’s music.
Great Djinn Ifrit's Theme: One of his more atmospheric songs, but still reeks off boss smell.
Dragon themes in a separate category, as he took one composition and rearranged it plenty of times. I’d argue the dragon theme is his most important legacy in Oreca. I want all Konami composers to remix the dragon theme.
The original dragon theme, for reference.
Ocean Stream Dragon's Theme: I think I picked this for similar reason as I picked Mimi & Sisi’s theme: it sounds like such a delightful adventure. It also has a lot of castanets, I like it when he use castanets.
Great Tree Root Dragon's Theme: Nishiki described this song as “dark fantasy” and I agree. This whimsical rearrangement is one of my favorite dragon themes.
Dragon Emperor Fei Long's Theme: I think I added this into consideration mostly to add variety. It also sounds really pleasant.
Celestial Dragon Bahamuth's Theme: Bahamuth and this song was to debut in WHF, an important event for the game, he gave everything into it and even incorporated real choir as he was in such high spirit. I will always remember about this little story. It turned into a grand song fitting of Bahamuth, and everything was worth it.
Divine Dragon Kuzuryu's Theme: My original intention was to only include songs that are officially uploaded, but I wanted to give an exception for this song badly. It’s easily one of the best dragon themes. It may not sound like a dragon theme at first, but if you listen closely you’ll hear that this is a dragon theme through and through. Here the usual melody takes a backseat while a new one gives a new soul into the song. Sachiko Watabe’s serene vocals definitely bring the song to life. I salute her, especially for that difficult chorus. Also, I vaguely remember Nishiki saying something along the line of “vocal song for BGM is unusual, especially in arcade games” but I don’t remember where. Twitter? Somewhere else? Eh? Anyway I’m glad he went for it anyway because that decision led to this song coming into existence. Thank you.
[Thank you for everything. Sorry I couldn’t finish this, I will do better next time.]
[I will always support you wherever you are.]

Kirisame no koboreru dangai kokemusu tou no ue
Hitobito ni osore rareshi ryuu ga sumu
Light rain falls above the cliff, on top of the mossy tower
there lived a dragon, feared by the humans 堅牢な人を寄せ付けぬ 冷たい鉄扉 幾重にも巻き付いた鎖が縛る
Kenrouna hito wo yosetsukenu tsumetai tetsu tobira

Tsuigeki no tsubasa
Shikkoku no uroko
Chi no nijimu kagitsume
Burning eyes
Wings of pursuit
Jet-black scales
Claws drenched in blood 轟く雷鳴地を裂く嘶き 闇に立つ
Todoroku raimei chi wo saku inanaki
Yami ni tatsu
Roaring thunder, a howl that splits the earth
It rose from the darkness

The shining sword regained his consciousness as the dragon bathed in willpower
With his sword back in his hands he stood prepared, the dragon flew toward him
Raising his damaged sword again, he thrust the sword in the burning red eyes

Seisen to yoba reshi tsui no chronicle
This battle of destiny tells about death
At the end of the chronicle, it is referred to as the ‘Holy War’
Translators’ Note:
Talking about starting your album with a bang. The “Dragon” chronicle introduces the first beast that comes from the darkness. Later on this monster will be followed by ghosts, werewolves, zombies and your own mind, the scariest of them all. You could’t start an album better. Actually you can, but for this particular album it was the best lead, the best song to introduce the new Yousei Teikoku.
