While the mermaid is still best kept at a safe distance the rise of the ornamental, exhibition or lap mermaid brought the fearsome beasts of the sea into the family parlor. A craze largely seen amongst the social elite and aristocracy, ornamental mermaids were a status symbol of wealth.
These household mermaids come in an assortment of forms and sizes, many of which having been genetically modified through years of selective breeding. Glorified decoration these pet mermaids were both visual delights and living music boxes. Especially those who are wild caught and reared as fry. These wild caught species, Males in particular, were most sought after for their singing voices. However the potency of the mermaid song is still a dangerous one. It is not unheard of to find entire gala parties dancing lost in a crazed fever haze.

Guys I just had a thought, why has nobody done this yet-
..I’m..not making one because god forbid I have another au to make content for but.. an idea.. what if the sirens returned.. what if they won.
Or just a simple what if they returned anyhow.. debating (I used twilight as a base, just to get the point across so I wouldn’t say this is definitively what she’d look like but you feel me right?)
I could see an apocalyptic scenario with them, because think of it like this,
It’s a quiet place, but YOU have the block your ears out instead of being quiet, for hearing the sirens call will infect your mind with brainless malice and hatred.. violence. You’re either caught in the wind of the beastly creature’s voices or you’re killed by those who were. The only way to avoid them is to block it out, at all costs.. rip your ears out if you have to.
It’s just a little idea I came up with, I’m happy to share more if you guys would be interested in that!

God it feels like forever since I posted any art (because it HAS been)! I've been busy but hopefully I'll be getting more me-time so I can draw more TTRPG related things :Jc
Anyway, I know I promised Rahadin as the next designed NPC--he's next I promise--but we finally arrived in Vallaki and Saverio made quick friends with a very sophisticated man he met and I just had to draw him. Our Vallaki has a Victorian vibe to it, and my DM based him off of Gary Oldman Dracula so I went along that line of thought while also adding a little bit of Gankutsuou inspiration because it felt right.
Sav thinks he's so cool~ I, on the other hand, am suspicious as Hell... (No spoilers please 💕)

A small old fan project I did for fun, where I redesigned Borderlands characters as if they lived in Dragon Age universe :>
These are the designs I did back in 2020 or so!

Chapter 1.
King’s Landing knew him as “Aemond One-Eye” or “The Kinslayer”. He had become a well-known enemy of the monarchy. After killing his nephew; Lucerys in cold blood he escaped his execution by a hair and in the midst of his exile he created a band of the most ruthless criminals he could find to sail across The Narrow Seas and reek havoc on any unsuspecting ships and pillaging any lands nearby. Many men aboard “Vhagar” spoke of the mysterious sirens that plagued the seas and took many men to an unpleasant death.
Aemond listened to the tall tales and wondered if they’d ever encounter a swarm of them and if they did would they live to tell the tale? It was a rather misty night with the moon high and the entire crew was asleep. Aemond did not sleep often he was usually up planning his next attack. The sea was strangely calm putting Vhagar on a steady course. The sounds of faint splashes against the small waves and soft singing alerted him and he left his cabin to go on deck.
He held a lantern in his hand as he walked across looking out into the thick haze and he saw a glimpse of feminine face. He called out into the darkness. “Hello is anyone out there?! Do you need to come aboard?” All he could hear was the sweet sounds of a woman singing. It was alluring; seductive. He started to lose his train of thought with the melody wrapping itself around him. The sounds of the sea became muffled once those sea green eyes found his and his body moved uncontrollably toward the port side of the ship desperately climbing over it to get to that sickeningly sweet voice.
Without warning one of his men pulled him back aboard just as he was going to plummet into the darkness which was not an easy task. Aemond fought him tooth and nail trying to get to that sound. “No! No! She’s calling me!!!” He finally held his hands over as his ears. “Captain! Fight it!! Ye’ cannot follow the sound. It will lead you to your death!” He pulled him below and smacked the living daylights out of him. He finally stopped wailing like a mad man. He realized he was drenched in sweat and his chest heaved heavily.
“Daeros..? What…what happened?” He ran his fingers through his hair feeling as though his heart was longing for something that he could not reach. It was a dull ache that he wished to be rid of. “Captain..ye’ were bewitched by a sea devil. Ye’ must resist the lot of them or it will be eternity in Davey Jones Locker for ye’.” This particular creature had been following them for quite some time. She had the sapphire within Aemond’s skull by chance one night and she wished to pluck it from his eye socket and save it for the rest of her collection of shiny or precious things.
She had been observing him for quite sometime noting how the darkened circles under his eyes never left and he often seemed without rest. He was the only one on board who didn’t use precautions and stuff his ears like the rest of his crew. Obviously he did not believe in her kind’s existence and his ignorance would be the death of him. But tonight she was deterred and obviously angered by the interference of another. She almost had him she thought. She found refuge within a nearby cove and thought of what to do next.
Daeros left Aemond to get some rest but instead he stared at the ceiling of his room thinking of that voice and those eyes he would never forget them. The next day the sky was clear and the mist dissipated. Aemond wandered into the deck tired as usual still not finding rest. He sighed with that creature still on his mind. It haunted him so such a dreaded creature with eyes that pulled him closer and closer to his demise and yet he would risk it just to see them again.
Tumblr media
Nights had passed and there was no sign of her, but she was there watching and waiting. He was expecting her again and she knew it she could tell by the way he roamed the deck when the moon was high. He paced back and forth and stayed there until dawning hoping to hear her song again. Finally, after days of them pillaging another unsuspecting village they stayed docked for a while making plans to set sail the next day and she knew this was her last and only chance. He had decided to take refuge as large water pool where it stood stagnant away from the harsh waves. He knew he was being watched small splashes alerted him, but he stayed calm and never showed that he knew she was there.
He smirked to himself whistling while the reflection of the moon rested on the body of water. Then in the distance he heard her and his heart fluttered with anticipation. He would finally have his chance, he could see her head peaking from the water far enough for her to swim away and deep enough to pull him to a watery grave, he stood to his feet instantly become captivated by the sound of her voice. Her voice pulled him in and the feeling the ice cold waters didn’t even make him flinch she had him where she wanted him so she swam forward wrapping her arms around him.
He finally saw her face. She was alluring and ethereal. He’d travelled the world and he hadn’t seen such beauty until her. Her wet tresses were as black as the sea and her eyes as deep as the ocean itself. She reached to pull away his eye patch, but was met with the dull sting of a knife being pushed into her tail. Her cries of pain were inhuman it almost sounded like a banshee screeching. He smiled at his victory and the pain her eyes held. She thrashed about trying to escape him and he didn’t fight to let her go, but just as she thought she could flee a net was thrown her, tangling around her.
She fought with all her might, but the pain and loss of blood began to slowly deteriorate her energy. His crew pulled her ashore and carried her away onto his boat. She was to be held below deck within a tub like a pet. Aemond came down to see her and help the wound he caused and she wasn’t happy to see him in the slightest. She hissed at him as her body laid with something that gave off the look of a tub. Her right arms was chained to the floor. Her instinct to push back and make herself smaller as he came closer made her feel helpless. She looked for an exit anywhere being inside of this thing.
“I will not hurt you again. So long as you don’t try to drown me again. Deal?” If looks could kill hers would rip him apart. He chuckled to himself and took the rag with ointment on in and began dabbing it against the wound. “I guess…you don’t speak my language…hmm..I heard your kind looked grotesque and hideous, but you….you are far from hideous.” She flinched and hissed from the stinging pain. “I’m sorry about that, but you would’ve gotten away from me…I couldn’t let that happen.” She stayed silent listening to him talk all the while planning how she could somehow find her way back to the sea.
“Don’t get any ideas…you should get used to seeing me. We are headed back to my home and you are to stay with me. I heard that after some exposure to the dry elements you sprout legs. A painful transition I suppose, but it can’t be helped. You will never see the sea again, well from your window you will.” She could feel tears flowing down her face something rather unfamiliar. She detached from the moment thinking of her sisters that she was leaving behind and the ocean that she loved so dearly. He was to hold her captive like some prized possession and she was going to be helpless.
“P..please…” She muttered lowly. He looked up in surprise. “So you do speak…Wonderful. You will learn to get use to what will now be your life. I can be very pleasant if you can learn to behave.” Her face twisted and she bared her fangs and extended jaw at him. “There she is…you didn’t like that word. I know you don’t know what it is to be tamed…but I will bend you to my will one way another.” He dug his fingers into the wound causing her to screech trying to pull away from him but she was too weak. “Please!!!!” Was all she could say unfortunately it was the only word she knew.
He pulled away and savoring the sounds of her screams. “I will be back to check on you…we will be home soon.” She fell into the tub wrapping her arms around herself and shaking. The rocking of the boat reminded her of the push and pull of the ocean and eventually she fell asleep. She thought it was all a nightmare. But she was awakened by excruciating pain. It felt as though her tail was being ripped apart. She screamed out, tears pooling in her eyes. Hearing her screams he ran to her aid and saw the most gruesome scene.
Her tail was becoming two and her scales were falling off blood pooled within the tub and she reached for him hoping he could make it stop. He for a second felt empathy wanting to throw her back into the dark sea, but he wanted her with him and he could not let her get away. Instead he pulled her from the tub and into his lap wrapping his arms around her as they sat on the floor. It was to be a long night and an even longer day once they got to his home.
To be continued….

Okay basing this off the fact Eclipse can travel waters, what if Yn tells him they can't live in one cold and he just takes them to the warmer waters?
Heheh seahorse yn
Oh my gosh oh my gosh hhhhghghghhghg new Y/N just dropped
This would be one setting where it's not in the Arctic but Eclipse has left those waters to drift about, and look what he happens to find! A lovely little siren, hiding in the kelp.
A leafy sea dragon that can camouflage and even change colors to hide themselves in seaweed and the kelp formations they live amongst. Speed is not their forte. They also have a prehensile tail that can coil around or grasp things. They would live in deeper waters and have beautiful dark brown, yellow, and greenish hues to their leaf-like appendages over their tail with small, transparent dorsal and pectoral fins!
Tumblr media
Every time Eclipse glides through the warm waters of seagrass, searching like a hungry shark, Y/N clings tightly to kelp with wide, terrified eyes. They watch him drift closer, hoping against hope that their tail colors have shifted enough to blend them into invisibility. But, somehow, he always snatches them out of the protection of the underwater forest and meadows. Y/N cannot run away, they simply lack the agility and speed, so they're stuck once Eclipse has his hands on them.
Y/N gets used to Eclipse's grabbiness—it's strange to interact with an apex predator that doesn't want to eat them (at least not right away.) They will relax enough to let Eclipse pull them along, his pace so much faster, and even coil their tail around him when Eclipse decides to stretch out on the seagrass for cuddles.
Y/N's leafy appendages are a great source of awe and admiration for Eclipse, and Y/N has never seen such a black and white fish like him before, especially not in their home. Eclipse loves Y/N's slow and drawn-out singing. Y/N doesn't often sing, especially when he's taking hold of them, but he'll keep his hands off just to let them echo a few notes while weaving in between the long kelp strands. He'll follow, much less graceful in the watery forest, but he never loses sight of them.

Wednesday: [grunting something unintelligible under her breath]
Divina: What happened?
Enid: [sighs] Eugene invited us to join a Dungeons & Dragons game, and Wednesday insisted we try it, but…
Divina: Oh, let me guess… She thought there would be real dungeons and dragons involved.
Wednesday: [dejected] They raise one's hopes, the fiends.

When you told your friends where this years big vacation would lead you, you got the same reaction from every single one of them. With out fail every one of their wide smiles became crooked and the unspoken question if you were crazy entered their eyes. But you were still just as exited for the trip as you were when you booked the flight and everything. Not only because you had just survived your messiest breakup to date, but also, because you loved seeing new places. And the Iron Islands where a place you had never been. If you had asked them, which you didn´t, if you wanted to be near water you should have just chosen to stay near Seagard. But in the end that wasn´t too far from your destination anyway and it wouldn´t be quite the same. Plus, thanks to that asshole that you used to call boyfriend, you couldn´t get away far enough. It was gonna be perfect. You had booked a room in an in at one of the little fisher villages. Meaning no internet for the whole week of your stay, but all the exploring and living in the moment. Another fact that was met with worry, though this time you understood them on that point. How many horror stories began with that premise after all, but in the week leading up to the fight none of that mattered anymore.
The closer the flight came, the more vivid your dreams became. It was always the same as well. You were standing at a cliff, surrounded by fog. At first you could only hear someone singing in the distance. Too far away for you to identify them. The voice was deep, smooth and downright enchanting. Begging you closer with a magical pull. Yet no matter how hard you tried to walk towards it, something kept you clued to the spot you were standing in. The night after you were able to make out their silhouette. The night after that the most beautiful man you have ever seen is revealed to you. Long, silver hair that cascades down his shoulders like a waterfall, framing his long face with sharp facial features. His one seeing eye rests on you, tirelessly. But he doesn´t speak to you. Not until the night before your flight.
Everything  is the same as always, the cliffs, the fog, the hauntingly beautiful, yet mysterious stranger in front of you. Holding you to his strong chest. And then, when his song falls silent, it gives way to an even smoother and more enchanting voice. `I will wait for you…´
His words bounce off the walls in your head like an echo. So much so that you almost miss your alarm clock to get to the airport in time. However, even as you run through the massive halls to still catch your flight the words won´t let go of you. Pushing you to run faster for some reason. The feeling or rather knowledge that there would be something special waiting for you in that small fisher village. Something that would change you.
The whole flight you buzz with a weird, new kind of energy, that you can´t place yet. It´s quite exhausting if you are honest with yourself, or maybe that’s just the lack of sleep from the previous nights. So it is no wonder that even though it is still early in the afternoon you fall asleep almost immediately after checking into your room at the inn.
Again you see that man in your dreams. This time there is no fog though. As far as you can see there are the cliffs and see near the village you are staying in. `You are so close. I can feel you already, ñuha jorrāelagon.´
You try to speak, but no words come out. His eye and really everything about him is so intense and ethereal, you couldn´t put it into words if you tried. Then again. `I´ll wait for you.´
Your eyes snap open. Heart beating so fast it threatens to break out of your chest in time with your labored breaths. A sheen of sweat covers your face and neck, making you shiver as you open up a window to let some fresh air in. Deciding it would be a smart idea to freshen up before you go to search some dinner, you make your way into the small bathroom, washing your face with a wet cloth and changing into something more presentable than the joggers from the flight.
Grabbing your bag and a phew essentials you make your way into the village. It´s more lively than you would have imagined. All the books and articles you have read about the Ironborn, you would have expected them to be a whole lot more cold, or at least a lot less chatty. Settling down in one of the bars, you quickly get roped into a conversation with two local women not much older than you are. Together the three of you drink, eat and they tell you about the people and surroundings. It´s truly interesting and you can´t get enough. They also tell you about the local legends and superstitions. It surprises you to see even the younger people believe in them so much. At home those tales where only believed in by the elderly.
One of your companions just opens her mouth to say something when everyone falls silent all at the same time. A shiver runs down your back from the open doors. Heavy steps sound through the room, coming to a stand behind you. The hairs at the back of your neck stand up as a breath hits the back of your neck. That very song from the nights before starts being hummed behind you.
Tumblr media
“Won´t you even acknowledge me now that we have found each other, ñuha jorrāelagon.” The familiar voice addresses you.
Recognizing him instantly, you stand and turn around. “Who are you? How did you find me?”
“You already know who I am. I know you do.” He chuckles darkly, which makes goosebumps erupt all up your arms.
“Okay, still. How did you find me?” You cross your arms in front of your chest. Unwilling to give in to the pull this man has on you.
“I will answer you every question. Just as soon as we get to a more private and safe place.”
You sigh, outing some money down on the table and then start to leave. Him close behind you, ignoring the knowing eyes that burn into your back. Neither of you say a word until you reach a small part of beach. Only then you turn to him with expectantly raised eyebrows.
“How did you find me?” You ask again.
“We are meant to be. I didn´t find you as much as you found me. Everything in our lives has brought us to this point. To each other.” He takes a tentative step towards you, but you take one back. What he says sounds unbelievable, surreal.
“Why did everyone look at you this way? Why did they all go silent as you entered the bar?” You ask quietly. Crossing your arms once more, to shield yourself from the cold night air.
“Those people aren´t the most trusting. Though I suppose humanity is prone to be suspicious of anything they don´t entirely understand. Especially when they are prone to superstition in the first place.” He answers in such a way that makes this whole situation entirely normal and plausible, when in reality this was anything but.
“You speak of them as if you aren´t human…” A nervous chuckle leaves your lungs. It was meant as a joke to relief the tension between the two of you that began to grow suffocating.
“Even if I wasn´t… That would change nothing about the fact that we are meant to be with each other.” He takes another step towards you as you take another step back.
“Let me show you that I am telling you the truth.” He holds out his hands for you to take.
At first you are unsure about the whole thing. Yes, he is literally the man from your dreams, but at the same time hadn´t really answered none of your questions so far. Still, something in your subconscious leads you to join your hands with his. When he moves closer, the world around you disappears. It is only you and him left in a bubble far away from everything else. Then your lips touch his and a surge of energy passes through your body. Pictures of the two of you beyond the ones from your dream flash in front of your inner eye. Pulling a gasp from you with their intensity as his tongue presses against your lips to silently ask for entrance, which they are promptly granted. The warm muscle explores your mouth before entering a passionate dance with yours. Your lips pressing against each other hungrily. You pull him closer by the hands, which you let go off soon after to fist your fingers into his shirt. The stranger lays the two of you down on the beach. His weight pressing you down into the ground deliciously.
Pulling away from him for a second, you gasp for air. “You never even told me your name.”
“You already know it. Just listen inside yourself. I have told it to you before.” He is right. He had, the night before your journey.
“Aemond…” The way his name rolls off your tongue makes everything snap into place. It just feels right.
“Ñuha jorrāelagon…”
“You keep calling me that. What does it mean?” You lay your forehead against his unable to stay too far away from him.
“It means my love.” He whispers against your lips before joining them again.
Just like that you are transported back into the bubble. You don´t even realize when the two of you lose your clothes His breath taking kisses and the piercing gaze from his seeing eye in between call for all of your attention.
One of your hands rests against his scarred cheek, your thumb running along the scar with feather light touches.
“I´ve waited so long to finally meet you, my love. Let me prove to you the true depth of my feelings.” He breathes. The hot air from his lungs making the skin on your earlobe and neck prickle with the contrast it builds against the cold around you.
With one swift movement he enters you. Bottoming out before he starts to move out of you almost entirely. Pumping in and out of you in a slow pace. All the while, his hot lips never leave your body. Kissing down the curve of your neck and the point where it connects to your shoulder, over your collar bone, all the way down to your breasts. Nibbling on the soft flesh with gentle teeth until your back arches of the sandy ground into his chest, whining out his name. The slow pace is becoming too much, taking into factor that it has been a long time and a simple one of his touches set you alight with want.
“Please, move faster.” You beg. Pulling his face up to yours.
Teasingly tracing his lower lip with your tongue. The giddy feeling that makes your stomach flutter at every new touch spreading through your entire body, setting your nerves alight with the burning need for him. Stoked by the feathery brush of his lips.
You don´t need to beg again. He obliges immediately. His hips fully smacking against yours, one of his hands finding its way between your legs to play with your sensitive clit. Rubbing tight circles into the bundle of nerves, that make the sounds your bodies produce sound even more lewd. Pulling a string of moans as well as cries of his name from your lungs non-stop. They are met by his grunts of your name and groans of ecstasy.
Your hands hold onto his strong shoulders to keep you grounded. Digging your nails into his shoulder blades the more pleasure he brings you. Even if he clenches  his teeth, sucking in some air at the stinging pain, it drives him to drive into you faster and harder. The circles he rubs into your clit becoming tighter just like your core around him.
“I´m so close, Aemond…” You manage to whine. Pulling him closer by tightening your legs around his hips.
“I am too, my love… Let go. Come for me.” His voice is shaky in your ear, making your stomach flutter with butterflies once more. With a few more snaps of his hips the fluttering sensation wanders down to your core. Your walls tightening around his long cock, giving way to waves of pleasure crashing over you like the waves crashing into the sand a feet away from your bodies. Your hips tremble relentlessly even long after your orgasm has subsided. Rendering you unable to meet his thrusts any longer, though he doesn´t seem to be bothered by the fact that he was left to fuck into you until he reached his peak as well.
Your back arches up again as you feel his hot seed paint your insides. Never had that felt so magical. So right. So… good. For a moment the two of you just lay there, panting as you process what had just happened.
“I love you…” You whisper breathlessly.
“I love you more than words could ever express.” He whispers back. Pressing the sweetest kiss yet to your forehead.
After that he goes to pull out of you, but you keep him right where he is buried inside of you.
“Let´s stay like this for a bit longer.” You don´t care that his weight is slowly crushing you under him. The stretch just feels too right to end already.
Tumblr media
In the end you fall asleep like this. Laid there on the beach shielded from any possibly prying eyes.
Only awoken by the sun breaking through the thick clouds, that seem to be a constant around here and the first waves licking at your toes.
“Good morning.” Aemond rasps into your ear.
“Good morning.” A smile instantly pulls on your face as memories from the previous night flood your mind.
“Did you sleep well?” He asks as if that was even a question.
“Perfectly.” You muse. Gazing deep into his lilac eye, making it unclear if you are answering his question or simply complimenting him. It doesn´t matter though as his mouth splits in a smile as well. Just as it doesn´t matter that your whole body hurts from the unfamiliar sleeping ground.
When you look down to see how far the water has risen though you are met with a sight that pushes another surprised gasp from your lips. There in place of Aemond´s legs is now a fishtail. The scales shimmering in the little sun that manages to break through the clouds. He follows your eyes and his face flushes a soft shade of pink.
“I didn´t plan on you finding out like this, but I guess I didn´t do anything to prevent it either by bringing you here like this, did I?”
“No, but in a way I already knew you were too good to be from this world.” You chuckle. “Can I…?”
You reach out to his tail. Not quite touching, before you get his agreement. He nods and so you run a hand over the scales. You don´t know what you expected them to feel like, but still it isn´t what you expected.
After a while he raises his voice again. “Are you ready to see my world?”

Pairing: Aemond x Siren!Reader
Word Count: 3,069 (Nice)
Warnings; Blood, mentions of death, thoughts of ripping Aemond limb from limb. Minors DNI 18+
Chosen lyrics; They are buried without scalp in the shattered bedrock of our home.
The lake had been covered in misty fog, its eerie tendrils dancing just above the surface of the water, if one looked close enough they could see water sprites at work. Humans believed that magic was gone from the world, but if they only looked a little closer they would see that it was still here, barely; like the final embers on a candle wick.
She lived beneath the surface of a pond, a safe haven under the ever changing waters of the stream that flows into it. It was always quiet in her small pond, the blue gills and catfish her only company. Though she would not say that it was entirely awful, it may be secluded and quiet but it was always safe, and being safe meant staying alive.
Trees twisted and wrapped their way around one another, strangling one another for a chance at seeing the sun, oh how she longed for the sun’s warmth. The dense dark green thickets surrounding the edge of the lake, pointed thorns dipping into the water, another reminder of the cage she had put herself in.
She slipped below the surface once more, sinking to the mossy floor, her head resting on a mossy rock, staring up at the underside of the lily pads. She spent the rest of her day hunting catfish and playing with the small water spiders that skimmed across the surface of the water.
She spent her night curled up in a patch of Hydrilla, its green tips making a space in the water. She stared up into the inky expanse and wondered what it was like above the surface. She wondered if perhaps one day, she too could walk amongst them. She had walked on land before, some centuries ago when she was only a girl.
Back when humans knew and respected the creatures that dwell out of sight, the rulers of nature. For a time they had lived in peace, silently walking amongst them, helping when needed, fighting in wars that were not ours, and aiding the sick with cures and magic long forgotten by mankind.
Somewhere along the path, we had become a threat, a danger to humans, they began to push them back into the woods and lakes, away from civilisations. Her mother was forced from her job as a maid in a keep not far from where she dwelled, it was not long after that, they began to cull them. All her family were snuffed out within a night, now all of them laid at the bottom of the God’s Eye.
All except her.
She shook the thoughts from her head, she couldn’t bear to think about it any more. She reached a webbed hand toward the starry sky, the rippled surface obscuring the true beauty of it. Her arm came to rest by her side, disturbing the sediment as she sighed, an air pocket travelling all the way to the surface.
Shimmering sunlight awoke her from her slumber, she sat up and stretched her arms and leant forward to stretch her back, the dorsal fin waying with the current. Perhaps today she would sun herself on the boulder in her lake, enjoy the sound of birdsong and they trickling water. The warmth of the flat rock warmed her cold flesh, her tail swishing in the clear water beneath her.
The sun had just begun to beam down into her pond, refracting different colours like light onto a thousand precious gems. She spent time braiding her hair down the length of her back, small river flowers delicately weaved into it. She hummed the melody of a song her mother used to sing to her when she was young, the same one she would use to lure men to their watery graves.
The sound of approaching hooves sent her beneath the water again, resurfacing in the safety of the water reeds. Directly across from her was a lithe man knelt by the running water of the stream, drinking handfuls of water. He was marvellous to look at, his deep green clothes and gold trimmed armour and his hair that looked like spun silver fluttering in the gentle wind.
A familiar primal feeling came over her, it was stronger than she had ever felt before: have him, have him, devour him, feast upon his bones, it chanted. It frightened her, but she followed the feeling, diving below the water once more only to look at him from between the reeds. She could see all the features of his face now, a strong chin and pronounced nose and eyes that glittered like amethysts in the sun. He was handsome, but she could taste the sadness permeating from him, the wish to be anywhere other than where he was, she empathised with him.
‘Come and find me,’ she whispered, edging him closer and closer to the water ‘Let me free you from your burdens,’ she cooed, watching him fall deeper and deeper under her spell.
He was within her grasp, she surfaced from beneath the water, scaled chest glimmering in the sunlight, a webbed hand extended for him to take. Their fingers ghosted one another, his hands were soft and warm while hers were cold and slippery, ‘Come to me, my sweet,’ she hummed melodically. She could practically feel her teeth sinking into his flesh, tearing him limb from limb, the thought sent her milky eyes rolling back into her head.
A woman with long dark hair grasped his shoulder, pulling him from her carefully laid trance, “You mustn’t venture too close to the water, my Prince,” she said firmly. By the time he had flicked his eyes towards the other woman and back to the water, she was gone.
“Why?” she heard him ask, standing from the waters edge, his eyes hadn’t yet left the spot where he saw her.
“Dark creatures lurk below the surface of these waters,” the woman replied, though the conversation had become less clear the further they ventured from the water.
The woman in the water haunted him for days after returning to Harrenhal, the word she spoke to him ringing in his ears, ‘Let me free you from your burdens,’ she had said. She was slowly consuming him, mind, body and soul, and he had no desire to break free from her hold. He would never forget the feeling of being lured by her, both horrifying and euphoric.
He saw flashes of her everywhere, peeking around corners, the melody of birdsong and in his dark haired lover. He saw her in the pursuit of his own high, chasing her from the recesses of his mind, Alys’ face slowly morphing into the face he saw below the water. Aemond could almost feel her talons ghosting along his skin, leaving rippling heat in its wake.
The feeling of fangs pressing against the column of his throat sent him into a frenzy of thrusts, his large hands guiding the body above him. The melodic song he had heard from her, guiding him like a boat through a tempest, had driven him over the edge. ‘Aemond,’ Alys moaned, though he heard only the melodic voice of the woman in the water.
He didn’t dare look up at her, instead he slipped from beneath her, choosing to stand at the windowsill, looking over the God’s Eye, wondering about her. Slender fingers and soft lips trailed over his shoulder and down his arm, and yet it did not stoke the fire that burned deep within him as it usually did.
“It’s her, isn’t it?” Alys asked her nose softly nudging the nape of his neck, her hands never leaving him.
Aemond thought for a moment, “Yes,” he replied, a cold edge to his voice.
Alys pulled away from him, recoiling from the coldness of the  response “I see,” she said, clearing her throat. “I shall leave you be, my Prince,” she continued, making her way to where her clothes lay. She dressed silently and left through the servants corridor, to remain unseen.
Muffled dragon cries woke her abruptly from her slumber, she broke the surface of the water, a panicked gasp tearing from her as she looked helplessly at the sky. She looked around her, as flickering embers and ash fell from the sky, she couldn’t stay here. Today would be the day where she would face her fears and leave the safety of her pond.
She heaved herself up through the bramble that surrounded her pond, thorns pricking and scratching her tender skin, half blind from the sun. Her legs wobbled as she took a few steps before breaking out into a stumbling run, similar to that of a newborn foal. She cried out in pain as she began to run, nothing good could come from two dragons warring above, she needed to clear out of the pond, she could return when it was safe.
The pain in her legs and feet was extraordinary, each log she cleared felt as though she was stepping on shards of glass when she landed. It was so loud, the overlapping shouts of soldiers, the clanking of armour and screeching of metal on metal, it was cacophonous; it reeked of self assured destruction. Every bone inside her wanted to turn around and leap back into the safety of her pond, but now wasn’t the time for hiding, it was the time for running.
She veered deeper into the forest, but something made her stop to look up at the sky, to the dragons wrapping themselves around one another. She turned away once more, determined to find some other body of water to bide her time, when an ear piercing screech sent her to a screeching halt. Her breath heaved in her chest, her lungs working overtime ‘He needs you,’ a pleading voice whispered.
It was enough to send her careening towards the waters of the God’s Eye.
The larger of the dragons was falling towards the lake, its throat had been ripped open, flames escaping the wound. If its rider was to stand any chance of living she would need to rescue him, humans didn’t live long once they entered her domain. She threw herself head first into its frigid waters, disappearing into its depths untraced. Her eyes only needed a minute to adjust to her surroundings once more, the world around her becoming a little clearer, and it would be any moment before that scaled beast would hit the water.
The crash was unimaginable, sediment and rocks flew past her as she braced herself by a sunken boulder, she could hear the sound of the heart drumming in his chest. It was now a race to find him before The Stranger did, she at the very least could follow his heart beat. She had no idea why she was putting herself in danger for a human who was supposed to be her next meal, she was designed to consume them - not save them.
She dove deeper and deeper into the lake, the sunlight filtering away, total blackness enveloping her. Though she could not see very well above the water in the sunlight, she could see perfectly in the dark. She did not dare look at the bedrock of the lake, in fear of discovering corpses she did not wish to see. She could see the roiling bubbles ascending to the surface and the immense heat emanating from directly beneath her, she wasted no time in diving again.
She very quickly discovered the corpse of the beast, resting peacefully in the bedrock, her rider still saddled. She stopped directly in front of him, watching his hands shake as he struggled with the chains. Malicious thoughts slithered into her head; she could feast for ages on both dragon and rider, she would have no need to think about the surface for a long time. It would be so easy, all she had to do was wait for him to drown.
No. He didn’t deserve this, at the very least she could unbind him and send him to the surface, what happened to him beyond that was not her problem. Against her better judgement, she rushed him, shoving his hands away from the ropes around his waist and ripping them away with her nails. He struggled and thrashed in her grip, using all his might to get away from her.
‘Stop struggling! I’m trying to help you!’ She hissed. He ceased his struggling immediately, having become sluggish and slow, the lack of oxygen finally taking its toll on him, leaving him weak and defenceless. Everything in her screamed at her to devour him, to gut him like a fish and swallow him whole.
A helpless groan left her as she threw his arm around her broad shoulders, heaving him up towards the rippling light of the surface. They wouldn’t be looking for his body yet, but she didn’t have long before they would be descending upon them, she’d be damned if she would die for a human. With one final forceful push of her tail, she was able to push his lithe body halfway up on to a secluded bank, her heartbeat thundering in her chest.
He wasn’t breathing. Gods, he wasn’t breathing!
With the last of her strength she threw herself up onto the bank, kneeling beside him; his heartbeat was there, but faint, she needed to work quickly if he was to survive the day. His body felt as though it was made of lead as she dragged him away from the water, the further away they were from the water, the less temptation there was.
He had taken water into his lungs, which meant she needed to get it out as soon as possible. She opened his mouth, placing her own on his, pulling the water from his lungs mouthful after mouthful, spitting it onto the lush grass. He had other wounds, cuts and scrapes but it was nothing she couldn’t use her magic to heal. With a final mouthful of water, air rushed into his lungs, sending him bolt upright coughing and hacking.
The movement sent her toppling over into the grass, where he descended upon her, blade against her throat. Her slender taloned fingers spread out across his face, daring to take his other eye.
“I saved your life, and this is how you repay me? By slitting my throat?” she asked, half daring him to do it, maybe then she would get some peace. His face seemed to shift in that moment, furrowed brows relaxed his clenched jaw loosening.
“You are right, I am sorry,” He replied, taking the blade from her throat.
The woman in front of him was full of contradictions, she was both dark and light, sharp edges and softness, terrifying and beautiful. She had almost lured him to his death one day and then saved him the very next. She held no fear in her eyes, even as he had held the blade to her throat, her beautiful, supple throat, he shook the thoughts from his head.
“Stop looking at me like you wish to swallow me whole, and let me heal you,” she bit at him, a gentle push sending him into the plush grass. She struggled with taking his chest plate, the leather straps far too finicky for her liking she took a sharp talon to the supple leather, slicing into it.
“No, leave me here,” he told her, trying to force her hands away.
“You will die if I don’t tend to your wounds!” she said through gritted teeth, pulling the chest plate away and straddling him, pinning his arms underneath her legs. Her hand hovered over the gaping wound in his shoulder, a calming blue light emanating from her palm. She watched the wound pull the deep red ichor back into his body, skin stitching itself shut, leaving no trace that there was ever a wound there.
I’d like to see his witch heal him in such a manner.
They took shelter in a cave deep in the woods outside Harrenhal, out of the sight of prying eyes and away from hands that would do them harm. In the time they had spent in the cave, she had learnt that the Prince's name was Aemond and that he was not one for conversation.
“I wish I could leave all of this behind,” Aemond whispered, his voice laced with pain and exhaustion. She sat cross legged across from him, a pleasant prickling feeling crawling up her legs from sitting in one place.
She tilted her head to the side slightly “Why can’t you?” she asked, her brows furrowed.
“I have a duty to my family, it's a matter of honour,” was the silver haired Prince's response, his jaw twitching as his arms came to rest across his broad chest. The dim embers illuminating the way his lip twitched upward as she leant forward, to press him further.
“Your family would rather send you to die than allow you to leave?” She responded, her voice laced with disbelief, she shook her head. It slowly became clear to her about what happened just hours ago, when he demanded she leave him to die. He had wanted that fate, he would have preferred death to failure.
Aemond pinched the bridge of his nose, his voice taking on an edge “It is about honour, as I said,” his response did not invite any further conversation between them. And for a while there was nothing but the crackle of logs on a fire and the sound of their breaths.
“Run away with me, it's not safe for either of us here. We can board a ship tonight and be gone by morning,” she offered, they could board a ship for Essos or Yi-Ti and never be found again. She would forsake the waters of her home for him, if it meant that he could live the life he desired.
“No,” was Aemond's immediate response, face contorting into a scowl. She was beginning to break down the barrier of duty and honour he had surrounded himself with, for without those virtues, what would he become?
She stood from her perch on a boulder, allowing the silk shoulder cape Aemond had given her to cover herself to slip away. Exposing the mounds and valleys of her body, the scales on her legs and cheekbones catching the firelight. “Come, My Darling. Please just give me your hand,” she cooed into his ear, running her delicate fingers over his shoulder and up the column of his throat, stopping to stroke his jaw.
And so he did.
