after seeing @new-york-no-shoes’s post about cold as you, I decided to revisit taylor’s 2009 rolling stone interview to find a quote I couldn’t remember the source of, and this is a gold mine ngl. here are some highlights (but apparently this is not the rolling stone interview I was searching for💀)
“I’ve never seen this country so happy about a political decision in my entire time of being alive,” she says. “I’m so glad this was my first election.”
Says Borchetta, “Taylor and I made an aggressive deal on the back end.” He chuckles. “I’ve written her some very big checks,” he says. (💀)
I feel like whatever you say about whether you do or don’t, it makes people picture you naked,” she says, self-assuredly. “And as much as possible, I’m going to avoid that. It’s self-preservation, really.”
Swift admits that she was fascinated by girls like Paris Hilton when she was younger — in a rare moment of prurience, she notes that her high school football team was named the Commandos, then laughs wryly — but says that she never thought the gossip about these women was true. “You should never judge a person until you know the full story,” she explains, matter-of-factly.
In a way, Swift’s emotional state seems to be stuck at the time when she left school. She says that she has only a half-dozen friends now — “and that’s a lot for me” — and she talks constantly about her best friend, Abigail, a competitive swimmer and freshman at Kansas State, with a new nose ring and a new pet snake, doubtlessly having many experiences that Swift may not be ready for. In fact, Swift is a very young 19-year-old. “I feel like Miley, Selena and Demi are my age,” she says at one point, acknowledging the fast-paced lives of her Los Angeles-based contemporaries. “It’s crazy, I always forget that they’re 16.”
She maintains that marriage is something she would “only do if I find the person I absolutely can’t live without” and “it’s not my ultimate goal in life.”
She’s an unsure, semi-reckless driver, hitting the brake too hard, pointing the car this way and that at various intersections like she’s tacking a boat. She screams, “Five-oh!” as she spots a cop, then pulls into a drive-through Starbucks. “I’ve been in three accidents, but none of them were my fault,” she wails.

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY
♥️ meeting itoshi sae’s family + headcanons
characters: itoshi sae, itoshi rin (non love interest)
Tumblr media
- family means quite a lot to sae
- like, a lot.
- you can tell from his daily calls with his mom (sometimes his dad chimes in, when he feels like it)
- the calls are short yes, but sae always seems to be a bit less stressed after the greets and chats
- his parents send salted kelp (sometimes personally prepared by his mother) when he asks
- he rarely goes home though. his personal goal seems to bring him over the edge sometimes, forgetting his family (albeit not purposely- although he is aware)
- however, when he started meeting you, marriage inevitably became a reaccuring thought and consideration
- he has always been a family man after all
- his work days would be much enjoyable if he could come home to you, after all. (he reasons)
- but despite his already made up mind, he wants you to meet his parents first.
- his mother is absolutely elated to meet you.
- proud sae with a lover?! who could’ve guessed? (not to mention, sae brought it up far too casually in a call- ultimately sending his mother into a close call with a cardiac arrest)
- at some point, baby pictures are out and the conversations start:
“are you planning to marry?” (sae is- but he won’t tell you yet)
“oh! how about children? do you want to adopt?” (sae does- he doesn’t mind adopting)
“do you know any friends for rin?”
- ah yes, of course.
- itoshi rin
- he sits in silence next to his mother. silently glaring at his brother, and sometimes, you.
- a part of him knows that it is illogical to mistreat someone who he had just met. yet another part of him is still petty at seeing sae looking at you so gently and softly
- he leaves the dinner halfway through.
- and although you have tried to strike a conversation with him, he simply insulted you coldly and brushed you off.
- sae does notice this (he has always been perceptive to details)
- since he did expect it, he simply focuses on comforting you by squeezing your hands and sometimes, your shoulders.
- his parents are quite happy with the news though, that his son brought you home:
- they know what it means.
- sae definitely wants to marry you
- at the end of the day, although his mother tried to get you both to stay-
- sae denies the offer because his childhood room was shared with rin for these listed reasons:
a. they had fought, it’d be uncomfortable for you and the both of them
b. he wants alone time with you (he gets silently clingy after a social setting or a tough day)
- before you left, sae brought you to the convenience store he has always went after practice with rin as children
- the old lady there recognised him immediately, greeting him and making small talk over football (though she doesn’t seem to know much about it)
- sae doesn’t cut her off though, talking to her with a gentler voice. the reminiscence got to him, you conclude.
prsssk
“here, ice cream.”
- the other half of a popsicle stick was handed over to you, along with the prettiest look you’ve ever seen sae harbour in his eyes.
- you didn’t realise it at the time, but the moment he brought you over into his world and into his past,
- he is truly and utterly in love with you and is ready for a life of settlement.
(after becoming the best mid fielder and freeing himself from japan’s expectations, of course.)

so i just read the hunger games trilogy for the first time as a very queer adult, and, like, there's no way katniss isn't aro or on the aromantic spectrum. i know it wasn't intended by the author, but the books seem so much less focused on romance than what id heard about them. katniss's ultimate goals through the series were protecting her family and her top priority was always primrose.
katniss approached every thought of love and romance very logically and could never tell what the romance she was supposed to feel was, and was constantly confused by it. she was more worried about what she was supposed to feel than what she actually felt about peeta or gale. she never seemed like she was interested in having a romantic partner, and was mainly just worried juggling the romantic feelings of others, which is why i think her settling down with peeta and them taking care of each other as close friends or life companions (whether or not they have kids) wouldve been a really great end for her, rather than as a traditionally married couple with kids. when reading the epilogue, we know katniss only had kids because peeta really wanted to have kids, and not out of any desire of her own, which leads me to believe that if it was a matter of marriage she probably just didnt care and got married because peeta wanted it.
her having kids in the epilogue of Mockinjay is a nice tie in to the first book, because she was always terrified of the thought of bringing kids into the world pre-revolution. additionally, given her own relationship with her mother, she'd be reluctant to become one herself, and with how she was parentified as a child and had to take care of her family so young probably added to her fear of having kids whenever she would discuss it with gale early on in the triology. however, her disavowal of marriage is odd together with that if she's supposed to be alloromantic, because she could still both not want kids and be happily married in love. im sure in book 1, if gale and katniss ran off, gale wouldve been fine with a compromise like that.
while romance was very necessary to katniss's survival, it wasn't something she ever wanted or was looking for. she was always horrified at the idea of marriage which was very prevalent in Catching Fire, whether with gale or peeta or anyone else. she was unable to relax around peeta outside of the games until they became actual friends in the second book.
the romance is only a side touch of the books whenever it's brought up by another character, but it's never something katniss is actively thinking about except for the very end, but it's so natural and in character there that it just seems like she is spending her time with peeta as life companions and not as like romantically in love, even with the kids. the trilogy focused heavily on war, government corruption, oppression, trauma, poverty, and family. romance is a part of it, but it wasn't part of the main themes of the books. so in tumblr essay conclusion:

Book of the Week: Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage
Tumblr media
Author: Qian Shan Cha Ke (千山茶客)
Genre: ancient setting, josei
Rating: M (very mature, dark themes but not too graphic of depictions)
My Synopsis: What happens when a girl gets tired of being nice and decides to go apeshit? You get Shen Miao, our adorable 30+ year-old protagonist recently stuffed back into her 14-year-old self and ready to eat the flesh and drink the blood of her enemies! Using this new lease on life, she’ll methodically and maliciously ruin every antagonist’s life using the tools in her versatile skillset, including: knowledge of the future, a psychological understanding of assholes, weaponized gender stereotypes, and men. And lest we forget our love interest, Xie Jing Xing: the boy/man (cause god forbid the author know how old anyone BUT Shen Miao is…) who thought he had it all figured out until he discovered that Shen Miao is a horny drunk. See just how far they’ll go to bathe in the blood of their enemies while keeping their loved ones safe in this very long but extremely satisfying novel.
My Actual Review: It’s so satisfying to see a previously downtrodden character scheme her way into a happy ending, and Shen Miao fucking deserves it. Some reviews that I’ve seen have claimed that the LI eventually takes over her revenge schemes, but I didn’t see it. They just partner up and she uses his manpower to do what she wants. There are also places where their separate goals intersect, so it just makes more sense for him to do the cleanup. The thing about Shen Miao is that she has no issues with letting others do the work for her, especially if it’s against people she wasn’t invested in putting work against to begin with. It’s the empress in her, I fear. As for the main pair as a couple, I loved their every interaction, and their descent into romance felt natural and gratifying. Greatest thing about this romance is the fact that it truly kicks off because Xie Jing Xing did not know to guard against horny drunk Shen Miao lmao!
The translation is pretty good outside of some clunky grammar, but once you train your eyes to glaze over the the five-millionth time the translator inserts directly into the story to complain about how often the LI is described as hot (unlike every other character, I guess???) as if this book is their early 2000s fanfic, it gets even better! Another thing that may or may not be here nor there is that this author is really weird with age consistency. Like, “MC is forever un-aging while everyone else ages 2 years every few months” weird. Shen Miao is forever 14 until the time skip in which she is forever 16, while Xie Jing Xing goes from “the same age as the students” to “17/18ish” to “vaguely in his 20s” during the same course of time where we literally never see Shen Miao acknowledge a birthday in any year. As for more serious content warnings, this story involves underage relationships (including non-explicit sex, marriage, and pregnancy), rape as a weapon, (assumed) incest between cousins, child abuse, and described but not explicitly shown torture. Though there are some humorous parts, this is not a lighthearted story. Read if you want something dark with an ultimate happy ending.

Farewell The Doyle Legacy!
A small compilation dedicated to Eddy & Helena Harrington the founders of my Doyle Legacy♥
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Helena Doyle Harrington was a woman of unwavering strength and resilience, She endured hardships from a young age, losing her mother to illness and began selling herself in Finchwick to survive. Yet, she never lost her spirit or her drive to make a better life for herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She squatted in a abandoned hunters cabin in the Bramblewoods which ultimately would lead her to meet the owner & her future husband Edward Harrington who had lost everything in the 1893 Silver Panic along with his entire family to Illness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Helena was a victim of sexual & physical abuse, she was often afraid but Eddy despite coping with the loss of his family prioritized caring for Helena.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even with Helena's negative reputation while working as a prostitute Eddy showered her with gentle care.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They quickly went from Roommates to lovers and with an unexpected baby on the way they became husband and wife. The pregnancy forced the couple to dive head first into working hard to turn the property into a functioning farm so their family could survive.
Tumblr media
the couples wedding was simple and very private.
Tumblr media
The couple Maxed out their gardening skills as they raised their children & sold the produce for profit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eddy and Helena always wanted the best for their kids and raised them strictly on the life of farming & teaching skills they deemed important for men & women to learn!
Being self sufficient was very important to them & they were confident their children would have a place to raise their own children on the property in the future.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, as Eddy and Helena's children grew older they found it more difficult each day to keep their goals aligned with their own.
This left a lot of unresolved around the house and ultimately resulted in Eddy & Helena making major life decisions for their children in order to force their lives into the way they thought was best.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Silas was forced into a arranged marriage via ultimatum to ensure he'd take control of the family farm and Lucile was left to hurt own devices with the impression she would be always be taken care of. Lucile was often left alone and her goals were put on the back burner since Silas was the first born meant to shoulder ownership of the property.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Eddy fell Ill Helena heavily devoted all her time to caring for him which lead to her getting the illness herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eddy and Helena both started to deteriorate from tuberculosis and their care fell heavily upon their children's shoulders.
At this point I could no longer continue playing the save but eventually Helena and Eddy would've passed along side each other as the era entered the 1910's. Eddy and Helena were devoted to one another and worked hard their whole lives to turn an abandoned property far from town into a livable space their children could inherit.
Several times Eddy & Helena went hungry so their children did not.
Tumblr media
Farewell Eddy and Helena you will be greatly missed!

The Condemned Villainess Goes Back in Time and Aims to Become the Ultimate Villain - By Narayama Shogunate (6.5/10)
Tumblr media
The yandere potential is very high here, but this is a time travel story. Some of it is very predictable. I do like how the characters work though. Everything flows smoothly and nothing is easy. In this noble court power isn't something you get with a smile or goodwill. You have to be a little evil.
Ah, Claudia. A classic and beautiful moron. Her father, the highest Duke, neglected her in favor of the daughter he had with a mistress. Poor, stupid Claudia acted out even though she was the legitimate lady of the family. She wasted money. She failed to educate herself. She became known for her stupidity, and mean attitude, but she was just a vapid girl.
Tumblr media
The beloved daughter of the beloved mistress used her. Fermina has love and she's good at manipulating people. That's what you need to succeed in a royal court. Claudia squandered the advantages she had. She foolishly thought she would remain in the highest seat no matter what, because of her blood.
Fermina takes full advantage of that.
Tumblr media
Claudia is sent to a monestary...wait...she gets kidnapped by bandits??? Claudia is too dumb to figure it out, but Fermina is Crown Princess now. Fermina is going to marry the handsome prince. Claudia can't be anywhere close to honor for that marriage to stick. Fermina is smart and cruel enough to know that the prince might not choose her if there's a better option. Fermina used her father's love to get rid of all of the marriage competition, including Claudia. She also hates Claudia the most. She got the worst punishment. Life in a brothel. Helen, a senior, helps her grow up and grow a spine. She becomes a fine prostitute with more freedom and brainpower than she ever had as the daughter of a Duke.
Claudia and Helen both die of similar diseases though, because working yourself to the bone will do that.
Tumblr media
Death turns back time. Claudia is 14. She knows her father and brother are weak for cute women. Her mothers funeral is her stage. Nobody loved her mother. She was a strict and abusive bitch that drove the Duke away, towards his mistress. Claudia pretends to be lonely without her mother, and her brother Vigil falls straight away. The siblings become close.
They were barely even acquaintances before.
Tumblr media
Claudia knows how Fermina plays the game. Fermina is a dramatic attention seeker. A storyteller. She's also madly in love with the handsome prince, which makes her more motivated than Claudia. As the legitimate daughter she and she alone has the right to be his fiance candidate. Claudia cannot give up the seat. If she graciously steps aside Fermina will get rid of her anyway. She plans to remain a candidate...and step back later to allow someone else to wed Sylvester. Marrying him would be ok, but she wants to escape from Fermina's social drama.
Tumblr media
Claudia meets Sylvester, and there's a problem. The prince is smart, and downright scary. Even as a young boy. Claudia quickly figures out that he never loved Fermina. He loved the way Fermina was able to manipulate high society, and her obsessive love for him made her easy to control. Her drama made him look good, basically. Claudia is skilled thanks to Helen (who she hires as a maid out of gratefulness). She teams up with Helen yet again to face the crown prince.
He acknowledges her...as the best candidate by far.
Uh oh.
Her reactions fascinate him, and he starts to ignore other women.
Uh oh.
Tumblr media
Sylvester is Fermina's ultimate goal. The very best husband. The man who can legitimize her. He is the only groom that can make her status as the daughter of a mistress go away. He's her dream. He's what her bitter soul has wanted since childhood. She hates Claudia because Claudia was simply born with what she has to work for. That's kind of understandable, but sadly Fermina has snapped. All of her personality is fake. Her head is stuffed with her lust for power, unseating Claudia, and her prince. Lilith, the beloved mistress, knows her only daughter is a wackjob...but she loves Fermina. The Duke is too blind to notice her madness, and poor Lilith is a mother that doesn't want to give up on her daughter.
It's all very interesting.
Tumblr media
Sylvester is a mastermind that makes Fermina look like a wimp. Claudia does not believe that he loves her, but he does. He analyzes her every move and he tests her at every turn. He's kind of an awful husband candidate. He's too calculating.
I'm sorry but this is where the plot nosedives. It becomes nearly unbearably bad.
Tumblr media
Fermina dumps tea on herself. She shows Claudia there is no hope. She causes a big dramatic scene and her clings to her father. She makes friends fast and she slanders Claudia. No one knows that the prince is obsessed with Claudia yet, because he's waiting for Fermina to go too far...so he can get rid of her. That's the kind of guy he is. He also hates it when Claudia fake-flirts with him, because she talks like she's experienced with men. It makes him extremely jealous, even though she's never been kissed in this life.
Tumblr media
Then...
Um...
Suddenly we're in a high school for nobles...this sucks. It absolutely sucks. Tutors like Helen and a few others have already been established at this point. The school setting is so random and dull and pointless it's nuts. After five good chapters this gets dropped out of nowhere. Fermina and Sylvester are still good villains...but my immersion is broken...

one of the things i love best about the transition from attempted murder to having a heart to heart between mary and stede is that on the surface, you might say: well, that was fast.
and sure, it was, but motivation-wise mary never wanted to kill stede. she’s wanted him to do a lot of things over the years (try to be an active father and not treat marriage and being a dad like a game of sims he can drop in and out of, stay gone once that ship sailed along with stede and his literal ship, not make her new life harder and worse once he’s back, & etc) but she’s never wanted to hurt him, and she’s never even wanted stede to be unhappy.
like: i fucking love mary for all the reasons, ever, but her quick turnaround here is so beautiful. because coming back the way he came back was nearly as bad as the way stede chose to leave in the first place! it was not cool or good in methodology! and mary got to acknowledge that and show him kindness, and because she shows him that kindness she gets to understand why it all happened, and why it was never about her.
i also love that for her, honestly. this is the last piece of the puzzle. mary could never have tried hard enough; there was not a single shape she could have bent herself into that would have made this marriage anything but tolerable and largely unfulfilling, in large part because stede is gay as fuck.
even better: if she hadn’t gone from murder to slumber party mode and told stede what love felt like, she might never have found out stede’s in love with a man named ed. that consistency in character motivation and mary’s ability to ultimately stay focused on the goal vs getting bogged down in enacting revenge for wrongs done to her means they both end up happier and more honest with themselves/each other.
you can fit a lot of deeply loving thematic oomph into this silly little pirate show, you know?

Ooooof, this scene!!! And it's such a believable fissure in their marriage - she believes in imperial rules and power of the clans - ie status quo forever (and it's clear she's always been a traditionalist - we saw it consistently - she was willing to bend a little for him but ultimately this is her whole way of life) and he's the reformer. Yes, she does not want another woman in the harem (and the irony is he doesn't either - he's as cut out to be monogamous as any period man can possibly be) but ultimately, it's about their incompatible world views.
And then, this line:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the tragic but inevitable thing, she does not learn, she still pushes. And another tragic thing is despite saying this, he still clearly loves his queen and she's gonna wreck it. I mean, you see his wedding night with the minister's daughter and the sheer mortifying awkwardness of it is conveyed so well. She doesn't fancy him and he doesn't fancy her either. He married her literally for reforms and her father. He eyes the prospect of sleeping with her with as much delight as eating a bag of nails. During their convo, she can tell he still loves the queen. And yet none of it is gonna be enough - not to save his marriage to the queen, not to put them on the same page, or even to make anyone involved truly happy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And he leaves without touching her.
The one thing I love about her is she's very clear eyed about life. She didn't go into that marriage expecting love or even companionship - she went in to protect her father and for political goals. Paradoxically, I think she is much more compatible with him in personality (and goals of course) than his empress. We shall see. He honestly is portrayed as someone who doesn't have much of a libido (probably because he was a monk for so long) and it actually makes me wonder how annoying it must have been to have a harem if one isn't particularly horny all the time.
PS This was such a glorious conversation but this was my favorite part:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This drama is so good - so adult, so measured, so solid, so well written. It is honestly pretty rare to be catered to in terms of a solid historical that's not just an adult character piece or a romance (not that there is anything wrong with those), and we are not talking about all the fluffy/ahistorical teen-oriented things (once again, nothing wrong with that but...) I am just delighting in watching an old school, proper period epic about court, battles, politics. IT IS SO GOOD!!!

emmi rabban headcanon post for @distr3sso-m0de because tumblr fucked up the original ask
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(original gifs by @hcmoeroticisms)
emmi rabban knew who she married. despite abulurd renouncing the harkonnen name in favor of emmi's family name, she understood that she was marrying into the family that was responsible for her father's death. part of this was because she knew abulurd wasn't his family and that she genuinely did love him. however, she also married into the harkonnen family as a means of survival. allying herself with the harkonnen name granted her a degree of immunity, however small, that she wouldn't have otherwise had if she had stayed on her own.
emmi continued her father's cause of caring for the homeless. she used some of her wedding dowry to make sure the monks her father gave his life to protect would be relatively well off and continued to care for the sick and poor on lankiveil up until her untimely death in the year 10178, when she was murdered by her youngest son, feyd rautha harkonnen.
emmi grew up studying politics with the goal of eventually becoming a senator on her own planet before the untimely death of her father and her marriage to abulurd harkonnen.
emmi loved feyd more than anything. from the moment he was born she knew she would give up her life for him if anything were to happen to him, not realizing she ultimately would. she could never bring herself to hate him, even when she lay dying in his arms. it was the last time feyd ever cried.
feyd murdered emmi when he was only 19 years old while under the tutelage of the baron. she was 37 years old at the time.
emmi never liked the baron, nor did she enjoy his company. his involvement in her death was in part due to him seeing her as a potential threat and a hindrance in eventually making feyd his heir.
feyd always believed he loved his mother more than his own father and was almost possessive of her at times. emmi did nothing to encourage this behavior, but she did nothing to discourage it either.
emmi used to dream of being a poet. she kept a journal of all the poems she wrote from the time she was 12 up to the time of her death. her last poem was about her son. feyd buried her under her favourite tree with her book of poems before he left for giedi prime. he never returned to lankiveil.

Illogical answer to justify Naruto's ending 💀💀😑😑🙄
And same old same old. Sakura always loved Sasuke, Hinata always loved Naruto... oh really?
You know what these arguments are, besides "lazy?" Sexist. On both the guys and gals. the women are defined by who their first loves are and NOTHING ELSE.! They must get with their first loves otherwise their involvement in the plot is pointless. They have no goals in life nor purpose in the story than to "walk down the isle to become Mrs. Uzumaki/Mrs. Uchiha". The men's feelings don't count or matter. Naruto always loved Sakura but I guess that doesn't matter because he must notice the shy girl that always held a torch for him even though she did NOTHING to ease his loneliness and being hated by the village. Sasuke did not love Sakura until she wore him down to give her a baby. CHAPTER 693 CONFIRMS THIS. Now, anyone until today, for some weird reason, here sees Sasuke's lines in that chapter as "I love her so I must keep her out of my life, I don't deserve her?" I guess pro-enders see it that way. What I saw was "Why does she even love me? She is deluding herself with some fairy tale." But ok... just make a sense and i'm a salty fan
Ok, let's go:
The the whole "oh Naruto and Sakura are just friends argument. Again, "lazy". And so what if they are friends? That is WAY MORE that either of them can even claim to be with their TRUE LOVES.  Well, let's see: Naruto ignores Hinata and never spends time with her after "knocking her up", so their relationship was like it has always been which is her only being in the back of his mind until it calls to his attention that she exists. Sasuke left Sakura to fend for herself and his daughter for over a decade and never bothered to visit or check up on them. Again this relationship is exactly how it how it was before the ending and when he last left to go with Orochimaru, him giving for this woman throwing herself at his feet. These are seriously the romances that these pro-ending fans were always imagining? The spouses just tolerate and acknowledge their marriages because there are bound by it? No romance anymore, no intimate communication at all, and the fathers not even bothering to bond with their kids unless the plot "demands it"?. Ok
I seriously would love to ask these defenders of this just friends argument "okay so you always had only platonic feelings for your opposite sex friends? You were never attracted to any of them and only see them as a brother or sister? So why are some of you SOOO INFURIATED by this  thing called "friend zoning" that you project on to these fictional characters? Friend zoning was never even a thing then, because you can never be attracted to a friend nor will EVER move past friendship. So Sasuke sees Sakura as a friend so he was never attracted to her, right? And Naruto sees Hinata as a friend and was never attracted to her either, yes? Neither guy indicates that they were love struck with their respective ladies early on did they, so are they friends or are they strangers? Ultimately, either stop using "just friends" as an excuse for when it conveniences you or acknowledge that "just friends" works "both ways", so YOUR PREFERENCE OF SHIPPING is also a fallacy. Naruto and Sakura may be friends but HEY do you see Hinata supporting Naruto's dream? Does she ever encourage Naruto's Dream of becoming Hokage or offer her support of Bringing Sasuke back or does she just tell herself what a hunky man-candy Naruto is because of his showing inner strength and determination that she vicariously wants due to her OWN LACK OF A SPINE? Does Hinata ever encourage Naruto when he is down or depressed? Does she show to to improve herself in any way because Naruto inspires her and makes her self stronger as a person (like typical love interests do in this scenario)? Did Sasuke ever become a pillar of emotional support for Sakura? does he ever consider her happiness and puts it above his own? Sure he protected her in the forest of death but so did Rock Lee and Naruto also saved her from being killed here and there so that means nothing.
So in short, do these canon couples have any EMOTIONAL CONNECTION to each other? I don't see it. Do you? Naruto and Sakura showed that plenty of times during the manga's run but never with the two that they are supposed to be "in love with". and it is always Emotional connection that is the foundation of a romantic relationship. Even if you are  just physically attracted to someone and it works out, if there is no emotional connection the relationship is pointless. And Again I see none of that with the so called Planned form the beginning NaruHina and definitely not with SasukSaku. NaruSaku on the other hand has evidence spread across the entire run of the series

🤣🤣🤣🤣My mom was rewatching 1x07 of HOTD and the infamous beach sex scene, and Rhaenyra's face at the end constantly kills me. Who the fuck has that kind of face when they're making love with the man of their dreams?! Who the fuck looks that dissociative when they're finally reunited with the love of their life the person that they burn for? Where was the fire? Where was the passion? Why does she look like she checked out?
My mom said that this was her having an expectation vs reality moment and realizing that Daemon wasn't all that, but because she's so enamored with him she's living in a state of denial because she now has the man she's always wanted. He's come back into her life and filled the hole of abandonment that he left behind. So, it'll cloud her judgment and have her stuck in the honeymoon phase.
But what killed us was how she woke up by herself in the shack looking not only unfulfilled, but also worried. She looked worried that he abandoned her again and my Mom clocked it. Rhaenyra is always gonna have that lingering doubt and worry in the back of her mind that Daemon is going to abandon her again one day. You see it in that moment and it almost comes true because after getting what he wants from her (her body) he was about to bounce back to Pentos had she not begged for his hand in marriage. It truly was pitiful watching her throw away any ounce of dignity and self-respect for a perverted man that ain't shit.
Yeah, she has this grand image of Daemon that doesn’t match up with reality. I don’t think that image was fully tarnished with that dry beach sex(🤣I laughed when I fast-forwarded and saw her looking around for him), cause even if it was lackluster, it’s obvious that she still looked up to him and idolized him.
She’s obsessed with Daemon, with being “true Targaryen’s,” with being “meant to burn together,” but after chokegate, she’s starting to see the faults with that line of thinking. This isn’t love and I think she’s waking up to that.
Lol, and this is the only time I will say I feel sorry for Miss Maegor, but she really was groomed and taken advantage of by Daemon cause she just wanted to be doted upon and be the special one and he appeared to give her.
Up until chokegate and then she realizes she was her father's “special one” all along. She taunts Daemon for it and Daemon cause he also wanted to be his brother's special one(right-hand man) and never was, snaps.
Their whole relationship is built on what they haven’t gotten from Viserys and when they realize who they were to him everything falls apart.
Book Dumbnyra isn’t any better because at the end of the day, I don’t think he wanted Viserys in the way show!Daemon does, but he still isn’t in love with Missy Anne. He still wants to be closer to the crown(the Targaryen ideal, his brother, power, etc).
He’s self-serving and ultimately Valyrian Karen is one such means to achieve his goals. This is why when it’s all said and done he is able to switch sides so easily and why when he ultimately does find someone he loves he abandons this girl he molded for his own goals to save the woman he loved.
It's interesting(I mean it can be), but it's not love. It's never been about love.

Ok here’s a whole essay’s worth of headcanons about some of the LOTR main characters’ lives in the Fourth Age, particularly their children.
(note: some of these names and marriages I’ve invented, and some I’ve borrowed from Elenya54’s phenomenal fics “All That I Had” and “The Gift of Ilúvatar,” which have many elements that I’ve absorbed into my hc, including Frodo leaving letters for Sam & Elanor and jewelry for Rosie, as well as Legolas ending up with Frodo’s healer’s daughter. Elanor & Fastred’s historian work is mentioned in Tolkien’s appendices. Frodo-lad’s love of dwarves and Rosie-lass’ love of the Entwives are taken from Tolkien’s unpublished epilogue.)
All dates in Shire Reckoning.
Frodo wrote Sam a love letter before he left, which Sam carried in his waistcoat pocket close to his heart every day.
Frodo left a letter for Elanor to read when she was older, letting her know how much he loved her and how sorry he was that he could not be there to watch her grow; he signed the letter “your Frodo-dad,” to which Rosie referred to him as she firmly felt that her daughter had two fathers in her life before Frodo had to leave. This is why Elanor called her father “Sam-dad” all her life.
Frodo left Rosie a set of freshly-polished jewelry (necklace, earrings, and bracelet) that once belonged to his mother Primula. Rosie always cherished these trinkets and wore them to every formal event she ever attended; she lent them to Elanor to wear at her wedding to Fastred.
Sam & Rosie’s entire family adopted the Gardner surname in the year 1424.
Sam taught all his children to read and write in both Westron and Sindarin. He was known as “the People’s Mayor,” as he helped the rich and poor alike. He came to know everyone in Hobbiton, regardless of class, on a first-name basis. He advocated for literacy in the entirety of the Shire, and his agenda ultimately modernized the Shire and created new opportunities for education, including the land’s first-ever public school in Michel Delving. He managed to change many conservative minds who used to not believe in the importance of reading by emphasizing how he only was able to accomplish what he did because of the knowledge he gained from Bilbo Baggins. He also personally planted many public and private gardens in the Shire, including a memorial garden for Frodo in the Party Field; his continuation of manual labor despite his affluent position went a long way in weaking the previously strict Shire social class system.
The efforts to rebuild after the Scouring, combined with Sam’s rise from lowly gardener to Master of Bag End and Mayor, shook up the class system. Many formerly upper- and middle-class families who had lost big chunks of their fortunes in repairing the Ruffians’ damage turned to manual labor to help the work move faster. It was a humbling experience for many, and the working class gained more respect than it’d ever had before. Sam’s brothers and cousins had their hands full taking on apprentices to learn their skills and help out. As a result, the Fourth Age saw more employment for hobbits than ever before; the bourgeois lifestyle became far less common.
Rosie became a leader in her own right, helping all the poorer hobbits in one way or another. She threw many parties at Bag End, including an annual celebration on September 22nd in honor of Bilbo and Frodo. Having been taught to read and write by Sam as a child (who passed on Bilbo’s lessons to her curious mind), she set her husband’s educational goals into motion by becoming a part-time tutor for hobbit children once her own children were older and in less need of her constant care. Many of the hobbits she tutored went on to become schoolteachers. She became extremely popular and respected, and when she died, a major party was thrown in her honor that went down in Shire history alongside Bilbo’s famous party.
Legolas and Gimli paid visits to the Shire as often as they could.
Elanor was a lifelong bibliophile and linguist. While working for Queen Arwen, she became fluent in Sindarin and translated many Elvish texts in the library. She was far more interested in the Elvish language and culture than any of her siblings. Besides Elfstan and Fíriel, she and Fastred also had 4 other children: Frodo, Astred, Arwen, and Rosemary. The couple led the Westmarch community together, doing a lot of impactful philanthropic work, and created an extensive library filled with historical records of the Shire, as well as Elves and Men, all the information that Elanor could compile while working in Gondor. Elanor also was struck with many dreams throughout her life of events in the Red Book, as she vividly imagined all the descriptions she heard and read so many times. A natural empath, she developed a deep understanding of Frodo’s suffering post-quest - mainly because of the personal connection she felt with him through his letter to her - and wrote several volumes of original poetry in both Westron and Sindarin, inspired by her two fathers. She became a beloved celebrity in the Shire, and eventually throughout Middle-earth when the Queen requested and published a copy of her work (with her permission). She, her husband, and their children continued to visit Gondor through the years and maintained a lifelong friendship with the royal family. Elanor eventually surpassed Bilbo Baggins as the oldest-lived hobbit in Middle-earth history, living to the age of 133.
Frodo-lad shared his father’s deep passion for gardening and they worked together on the flowers and vegetables at Bag End every day. He often teamed up with Elanor, his best friend as well as his sister, to help their parents manage their younger siblings growing up. He developed a love of Dwarves after reading about them in the Red Book; Gimli once created and gifted to him a harmless toy dwarf axe for his birthday. He was as skilled a scholar as Elanor, but didn’t enjoy it as much as she did, preferring the outdoors. However, he did help her with her research on Shire history for her library and eventually wrote his own book on gardening. He later married a hobbit lass named Violet, who hailed from the Bunce family. Besides Holfast, they had 3 other children: Heather, Wilfred, and Lavender. Frodo eventually became Mayor after his father retired and inherited Bag End when his father left the Shire. By this time, enough residents of Hobbiton had learned to read to enable him to open the town’s first-ever public library, which included copies of his own gardening book. The title of Mayor was later taken up by Holfast after his own retirement, and then later by Holfast’s son Harding of the Hill.
Rosie-lass was an in-demand artist who sketched and painted illustrations for the Red Book as well as portraits and landscapes which were given away as mathoms. The walls of Bag End were covered with her art. Framed in her and her sisters’ bedroom was her favorite creation: a drawing of a fantasy in which she found the lost Entwives. She later married Fredegar Bolger’s son Rudecar and they had 7 children.
Young Merry eventually took over operation of the mill formerly owned by the Sandymans and purchased by Frodo after the Scouring. He married Robin Smallburrow’s daughter Hazel and they had 3 children.
Young Pippin became a skilled furniture maker and married one of Fredegar Bolger’s daughters, Jessaminta. They had 5 children.
(The mother of Fredegar Bolger’s children was his wife Angelica Baggins, the last of the Baggins bloodline. Sam and Rosie were thrilled that their family was united with one of Baggins descent via Rosie-lass and Pippin’s marriages.)
As per canon, Goldilocks married Pippin Took’s son Faramir. They had 6 children and eventually became the heads of the Took family. Goldilocks loved to cook with her mother as a child and later insisted on helping the cooks at the Great Smials hands-on with preparing meals, class system be buggered. She and her husband made sure to pass this egalitarian mindset onto their children.
Hamfast loved the story of the Ents so much that he dedicated his life to forestry. He married Malva, who hailed from the Burrows family, and they had 3 children.
Daisy inherited her father’s knack for songwriting and composed many tunes which she eagerly performed at parties. She sang at all her siblings’ weddings. She herself married and had 4 children with Merry’s son Théodoc.
Primrose, a tomboy all the way, inherited her father’s talent with knots and became Hobbiton’s exclusive roper, alongside her cousin Anson’s latest apprentice, Nico Goodbody; they married and had 3 children.
Bilbo enjoyed a simple life working for the Quick Post and co-owning a bakery with his wife Azalea Hayward (daughter of Shirriff Hob), with whom he had 2 daughters.
Ruby became fascinated with medicine and eventually took on a career as a midwife. She was deeply moved by Frodo’s words in the Red Book about cherishing the beloved land that was saved by him and her father, and she took it upon herself to help bring the next generation of hobbits into the world to honor his wishes. She eventually married and had 5 children with Pippin’s son Beregond.
Robin followed in his namesake’s footsteps and became a Shirriff. He married Merry’s daughter Éowyn and they raised their 4 children in Frodo’s former residence at Crickhollow.
Tom became a merchant, traveling constantly between Gondor and the Shire. He never married but had a lifelong partnership with Pippin’s youngest son Beren. The two of them looked after the old hobbit in his final years in Minas Tirith, as he needed walking sticks to help him move due to lasting effects of troll-inflicted wounds. They shared their luxurious house with Pippin until his eventual death at age 106, two years after Merry had succumbed to a long illness in Pippin’s arms at age 112. Tom himself became quite an adventurer, retracing the Fellowship’s steps and sightseeing all of the quest’s locations with Beren. They both eventually rose in esteem to become advisors to the king.
Many times, but even more so in his later years, Sam had dreams of the Sea.
All of the children moved out of Bag End when they married, except Frodo-lad, who raised his own family in Bag End while also looking after his aging parents.
When Rosie fell ill for the last time, Sam and Frodo-lad summoned all 12 of Frodo’s siblings to Bag End, and they all were present in their mother’s last moments. On her deathbed, Rosie bequeathed Primula’s jewelry to Elanor.
Before sailing West, Sam showed Frodo’s love letter to Tom, Beren, and later Elanor. Although he never saw the letter, Frodo-lad also sensed his father’s true feelings for his namesake. They were the only members of their generation to be aware of Frodo & Sam’s secret romance; they honored Sam’s wish that this detail be kept private and left out of all records.
Elanor, Fastred, Frodo-lad, Goldilocks, Faramir, and Pearl all collaborated on the creation of the Thain’s Book, mainly working on it in the two years between Elanor’s inheriting of the original book and Pippin’s impending departure, which he was already considering and discussing with his family even before Éomer wrote to Merry.
When Sam sailed, he took with him several flower seed packets to plant in the West, a stash of Old Toby, letters for Frodo from the rest of the Fellowship (updating him on their lives and families), and a book of Elanor’s poetry which she intended as a present for Frodo. He also was given a small trinket from each of his children, which he kept and cherished as mementos of them. He left the Star of the Dúnedain and Sting to Frodo-lad, and both became cherished Gardner family heirlooms.
Sam happily reunited with Frodo on Tol Eressëa. Since time passed differently there, Frodo had not aged. Sam’s physical youth was gradually restored by the island’s rejuvenating energy, as was Bilbo’s. The couple lived happily together in a hobbit hole which Frodo had built for Sam.
In his time on the island, besides being fully healed by the combined efforts of Gandalf, Elrond, a Vanya healer, and Nienna herself, Frodo became good friends with Celebrían, as they understood each other’s similar reasons for sailing West. He became a gardener, realizing how much knowledge he absorbed from Sam through the years, and helped tend to many Elves’ private gardens as well as his own, and also became fluent in Quenya as a necessity for communication.
When Sam had settled in, Frodo taught him to speak Quenya and to swim.
Bilbo eventually chose to lay down his life after leaving nothing unsaid between him and the younger hobbits. However, Frodo and Sam continued on, and were still living when Legolas and Gimli finally arrived. They and Gandalf enjoyed many happy times together, especially at the beach, and reminisced about their lost friends.
When the hobbits finally accepted their mortality together, lying in each other’s arms after saying all their goodbyes, their bodies were laid side-by-side and housed with Bilbo’s body in a permanent memorial for them in Avalloné. They left all of their possessions to be placed within a historical museum on Eressëa, containing artifacts from all the ages of the world.
Pippin & Diamond were friends since tweenhood, but only saw each other in a platonic light for many years, and Pippin had some fun flirting with and trying to impress lasses when he returned from the Quest. An avid reader, Diamond was fascinated by the stories of what happened to him. But she was also an unusually empathetic and insightful hobbit, and she could sense that not all of Pippin’s adventures were fun, and that he had some lingering trauma. She became his safe space to talk to, and they quickly fell in love. As Tolkien put in canon, they finally married in 1427 (when Diamond was 32 and not even of age yet, as they couldn’t wait any longer) and the heir to the Thainship was their son Faramir, born in 1430, who later married Goldilocks. Here’s my version of the rest of their family:
Faramir took after Diamond more than Pippin. He had his sense of humor but had a sense of responsibility much earlier on in life and grew to be a fine leader in his own right, long before becoming Thain. He bonded closely with his namesake during a year-long visit to Gondor in which he served as a page to the King. He overcame Goldilocks’ shyness toward boys via their lifelong friendship from childhood that blossomed into more in their tweens.
Once Faramir was born, Pippin & Diamond realized that they loved parenting and wanted a big family, not unlike Sam & Rosie. They wanted to take on the adventure together and they did. Diamond wanted all her children to have special unconventional names and encouraged Pippin to borrow names of people he met on his quest and who he’d read about. Pippin agreed as long as his wife agreed to allow herself her own honor by naming all their daughters after jewels like her. They visited Gondor together often.
Their 1st daughter Pearl was born in 1433. An introvert, she preferred to read and draw than go to parties. A natural scholar like her mother, she was responsible for the cultivation of the Great Smials’ library, collecting and writing much of the history of Gondor, helped largely by her youngest brother’s frequent travels to the kingdom. She eventually married into the Goodbody family to Elio, brother of Nico (who married Primrose Gardner). They had 2 children.
2nd son Boromir was born in 1436. He helped his older brother keep their younger siblings in check. He initially in his youth felt hurt that he was named after the man who tried to steal the Ring, but as he grew older and came to understand the full story better, he came to deeply admire and respect his namesake. He opened a law firm alongside his best friend Estel Brandybuck, and married Fredegar Bolger’s youngest daughter, Miramunda; they had 7 children.
3rd son Beregond was born in 1438. He worked as an auctioneer and married Sam & Rosie’s daughter Ruby. See above.
Twins Bergil (boy) and Opal (girl) were born in 1440.
Bergil followed in his grandfather Paladin’s footsteps and made a living from farming the fertile earth of Tuckborough. His sister-in-law Goldilocks was helpful in this endeavor, as she arranged for him to gain experience in his youth by helping her mother’s family, the Cottons, at their own farm for a year. He married and had 3 children with Lydia Hornblower.
Opal founded the Shire’s first theatrical company and wrote many plays that retold the full story of the Fellowship. It was her plays that enlightened the rest of the Shire regarding the extent of Frodo Baggins’ sacrifice, and his reputation vastly improved as much of the population finally understood his heroism. Opal married into the Grubb family to a lad named Aldo, and they also had 3 children.
When she heard the story of Beren and Lúthien for the first time while pregnant with Emerald, Diamond loved it so much that she insisted they name their next boy after Beren.
3rd daughter Emerald was born in 1443, named in honor of her great-aunt Esmeralda Brandybuck. She married into the Burrows family to Marco, brother of Malva (who married Hamfast Gardner). They opened an affluent restaurant together near the Three-Farthing Stone, which blended Shire cuisine with those of Gondor and Rohan via recipes collected by Emerald’s father and “Uncle Merry”. They also had 2 children.
5th son and youngest child, Beren, was born in 1446. He never married but had a romantic life partner in Sam & Rosie’s son Tom, with whom he worked as a merchant. See above.
After many happy years, Diamond died at age 86 in 1481, six months before Rosie’s passing. She held on until she heard the news that her youngest grandchild had been born safely earlier that day.
Estella pursued Merry for many years until she finally won him over. They married the same year that Faramir Took was born, and decided they wanted a smaller family than the Gardners and the Tooks. They ultimately had 4 children:
1st son Théodoc was born in 1432. Merry knew he wanted to name his firstborn after his late king; Estella agreed, admiring the king greatly from her husband’s stories, but wanted to continue the tradition of giving the future Master a name ending in “-doc.” This was their compromise. Théodoc was a born scholar like his father and helped him put together his book on old words and names. He later married Sam & Rosie’s daughter Daisy; they became the Master and Mistress of Buckland when Merry left the Shire for the last time.
2nd son Estel was born in 1436. His parents were amazed at how perfectly the name worked as a tribute to both Aragorn and to Estella herself. Estel was a mama’s boy and never minded his name’s resemblance to hers, even before making the thrilling discovery that he was also named for a king. He opened a law firm with his best friend Boromir. On a family trip to Bree, Estel met a real Underhill, named Sarafina; they instantly fell in love and he brought her home to Buckland as his bride. They bore 3 children.
1st daughter Éowyn was born in 1439. She worshipped and maintained a lifelong friendship with her namesake, who sent her birthday presents every year, and in whose footsteps she followed by becoming the Shire’s most reliable healer. She also helped her father gather research for his herblore books, and gained much knowledge of herbal medicines from this project. She later married Sam & Rosie’s son Robin; they first got together when Tom & Beren played matchmaker.
2nd daughter Athela was born in 1441, named after Athelas in honor of her father’s love of herbs and her mother’s appreciation for the specific herb that saved her father’s life. She married into the Goldworthy family and had 3 children with her husband Fabian. She shared her sister’s passion for independent thinking and eventually became a teacher at the Shire’s first public school.
Merry was the first of the Travellers to be widowed, as Estella passed in 1480 at age 95. The following year, Athela named her newborn 3rd child after her mother.
As Tolkien wrote, Aragorn & Arwen’s firstborn was Eldarion, born in 1422, who eventually succeeded his father as king and created a long-lasting dynasty. According to me, Eldarion was followed by three younger sisters:
Idril was born in 1425. She remained in close touch with her Elvish roots and arranged for the history of Elves and Men to be taught in all of Gondor’s schools. It was for her and her sister’s sake that her parents were inspired to issue a law requiring girls to be educated as well as boys. She later married Elboron, son of Faramir & Eowyn (b. 1424), and they became Prince and Princess of Ithilien after Elboron’s parents’ deaths, and helped Legolas restore the land to its former glory. Their son Barahir wrote The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen (Tolkien canon).
Twins Celebrían and Gilraen were born in 1429.
Celebrían was a linguist and expert diplomat and helped her father with peace talks among the Southern and Eastern lands, made easier when she became fluent in the languages spoken by the Haradrim. She was close friends with Elanor, as they shared a passion for learning languages.
Gilraen was a tomboy who joined the remaining Rangers of the North in patrolling the woodlands of Arnor, eventually marrying a fellow Ranger.
All four of Aragorn & Arwen’s children were raised bilingual in Westron and Sindarin. The Sindarin language became common in Gondor once again, and was taught in schools.
Eldarion oversaw the restoration of Osgiliath alongside his father.
Aragorn also arranged for absolute premogeniture in the Reunited Kingdom’s line of succession, echoing the similar policy of Númenor.
Two centuries later, Eldarion’s firstborn, Silmariën, became the first Ruling Queen (regnant) of Gondor. Her younger sister was Nimloth.
Also, in Ithilien:
Besides Elboron, Faramir & Éowyn had a daughter, Elwyn (b. 1427), who became a healer like her mother. She exchanged much information with her close friends from the Shire, the hobbits Ruby Gardner and Éowyn Brandybuck.
As for Legolas and Gimli:
Gimli was gray and aged when he and Legolas sailed West, but had a few steps left in him.
On his last journey, Legolas took with him letters for Sam from his surviving children, all of whom he had stayed in touch with through the years (especially Elanor and Tom), as well as his own copy of the Red Book in Quenya, which he’d made himself in Gondor from the Thain’s Book, in order to keep the details of the story recorded for the populace of Valinor.
They were thrilled to reunite with the hobbits on Eressëa, having hoped they’d still be alive.
Gimli bonded with the Elves who specialized in mining and delving on the island, and eventually learned Quenya.
Legolas fell in love with Laurëalotë, a Vanya resident of Tol Eressëa and the daughter of Frodo’s healer.
Gimli, being 260 years old when he sailed, ultimately lived to the age of 330.
Many years after the hobbits and Gimli had finally passed on, Legolas married Laurëalotë and they had two daughters, Malinalda and Altáriel, and a son, Elessar. They settled on the island and often visited the permanent memorial built in honor of their late friends.
Gandalf sailed on to settle in Valinor. His reward from the Valar for his deeds was to travel freely among the Blessed Realm whenever he pleased, no longer bound to be a servant. Thus, he often visited Legolas and the memorials on the nearby island.
Legolas’ copy of the Red Book became the most cherished item in his household, as he read the story to his wife, daughters, and grandchildren, and kept it alive forever.
For the rest of time, Gandalf and Legolas personally reminisced about the Fellowship, and their memories of and love for their friends never faded.
The Last Ship sailed from the Grey Havens in the year 201 of the Fourth Age. Among those onboard were Círdan, Celeborn, Elladan, Elrohir, and one Elf who had long served his repentance through many lonely millennia in Middle-Earth and was at last granted passage back to his homeland: Maglor.

Another Morse/Joan ramble [vague spoilers if you're new to Endeavour and don't know how they end]...
Tumblr media
There's been quite a bit of chat lately about the parallels between Morse/Thursday and Morse/Joan, and it got me thinking about why exactly the Morse/Joan relationship is compelling to me.
The thing about Morse and Thursday is that they are very different people, but they're also very similar. That's why they fit so well together like two puzzle pieces and can pull each other out of a hole when they need to. They may not always click, but when they do they're an incredible team.
We know Joan takes after Thursday, and this imo allows for a similar magnetism in her dynamic with Morse. The best example of this I can think of is the bank robbery in Coda. Morse and Joan are in sync all the way through - bouncing off each other when Morse is going through clues, protecting each other, and trying to keep everybody calm. Apollo is similar. They have different approaches and engage in some petty bickering, but ultimately have similar aims of making sure the kids are protected and seeking justice. At the end of it you get the sense they respect each other a little more. The more time they spend together, the better their relationship is, but when they distance themselves there's a communication breakdown (sound familiar?).
Tumblr media
But the real interest for me, comes in where Joan and her dad are different. For several reasons Joan is much softer around the edges, and her Fred-like traits aren't as entrenched. That in turn allows for a potential healthier relationship with Morse. On Morse's side as well. I'm sure people will disagree with me on this, but I think in the later seasons he doesn't put Joan on such a pedestal because she actually tries to ask for help when she needs it and attempts to express herself honestly. She lets him see her at her lowest and challenges him directly when she's bothered by something he does. I think it gives him a reality check. He talks to her like a friend and isn't afraid to show it when he's annoyed with her compared to earlier on when she could do no wrong in his eyes. I feel like by the end he really did love her.
Whenever they interact in the early seasons, it's like they're in their own little world and could sit talking to each other all day if given the chance. Joan always cheers Morse up and brings out a lighter sensitive side of him we don't usually see. He gives her agency, doesn't pressure her, and is completely loyal to her. Although it takes him a minute to understand her goals, he encourages her once he gets it. They both push each other to open up emotionally. Along with all of this they are blatantly attracted to each other and you can feel it every time they look at each other. There's real sexual tension and that's a weirdly rare thing. What's interesting is that he's so different from every other man in her life she doesn't know how to react.
Tumblr media
To be clear here it's not that I believe they were destined to live a long happy marriage or that they should've walked off into the sunset together. My issue with how their relationship was handled is that it didn't feel like it came to the conclusion it did through the natural actions of the characters. It felt like things only happened the way they did because Joan wasn't canonically part of his later llfe and Lewis didn't know what to do with that other than to keep them apart. It was as if he went, "Hmm these two get on too well...better start making Joan push him away for no apparent reason."
Whether Morse and Joan could've made it who knows, but I definitely believe they could've given each other the love and passion they desperately wanted, at least for a little while.

hi @leverage-ot3 here again
this isn’t even necessarily leverage ot3 propaganda, just leverage propaganda!!!
are you a sad/angry/annoyed at capitalism zillenial or just someone done with the world and it’s problems??? LEVERAGE WILL BE YOUR ULTIMATE COMFORT SHOW
like yes it has a word of god canon ot3 (which may not seem like much, but it happened in 2012 when gay marriage wasn’t even legal in the US where it aired yet so poly rights were extra not a thing) (below: the ot3 in 2021 looking extra fine and poly we love to see it)
Tumblr media
but it also spends five seasons plus a reboot eating the rich and powerful for 45 minutes an episode
also this has THEE fastest found family speedrun you’ll ever see in your life!!! literally a dynamic I would kill for!
also the writers worked with real career criminals to get the cons and thievery right, and they were so good at what they did that the writers got reported to homeland security/fbi/etc multiple times because they found real loopholes in the system that would have inspired real crime so they had to write the episodes differently to deter that (literal goals???) definitely look into john rogers (one of the main writers) on twitter he is thee most chaotic and angry at capitalism people on that website
the team also gloats at the bad guys at the end of every episode for maximum greatness and it is wonderful to watch them feel smug and satisfied that evil people are going to jail (below is from the inside job- s3- and they are serving looks as usual)
Tumblr media
also ALSO parker the thief (canon best thief in the world) and part of the ot3 is canon autistic and is treated by the writers with love, care, and grace! she’s perceived as super weird a lot of the time but her family and her boys love her for it and support her through her journey and love her for who she is 💖 don’t let her near you or she’ll steal ur wallet tho
Tumblr media
anyways watch leverage for them (the ot3) but also them (the found family of your dreams) but also them (eating the rich for fun)
she can steal my wallet i dont mind *twirls hair*

4ggravate Pre-Marriage: Doubts (Pt. 2)
—where Cyno and Collei are both having some struggles adjusting to change
Linked posts:
Part 1: 4ggravate Pre-Proposal post
─── ⋅ ⋅ ∘ ☽ ༓ ☾ ∘ ⋅ ⋅ ───
Cyno talks to Collei first. Of course he does because her life is so intertwined with his and Tighnari's. He knows the others discussed it with her before and about her eager acceptance of the new changes because it meant his and Tighnari's happiness. However, he, as the one who brought her back to Sumeru, holds an obligation to talk to her directly.
Standing by her side in her hut, making pita pockets, they work in relative silence for a bit. "Collei." He finally starts, knowing her little signs of stress and anxiety like it is the palm of his own hand. "I understand you have told Tighnari and the others that you are excited for our future together..." She nods, keeping her eyes on the food in front of her. He notices how her fingers twist the bread out of the corner of his eyes, "It is a big change for all of us; for you, too. It's alright if you are unsure—"
"I'm not!" She yelps. But, she does squirm a bit under his watchful eye, head dipping lower, "I am really happy for you and Master Tighnari..." She insists.
"But?" He urges her to continue. He begins to work on the filling, chopping some ingredients a little messily. It is usually quicker, more efficient, but his goal isn't just a quick dinner with everyone.
She shakes her head, the slice of bread breaking apart, "It's..." She winces, "scary..."
"Scary." He echoes, no judgement in his voice.
"Yes." The conversation progresses slowly, but it goes nonetheless. She sags where she stands, sighing. There is no rush with the other. There rarely is when Collei is involved and she knows this. The familiar tightness in the pit of her stomach does not completely escape and she sucks in a sharp breath. Her head tips forward, hair casting a curtain between the two to at least hide the frustration from the other.
How can she explain herself? How can she tell him all that she is feeling when she doesn't fully understand? She is so selfish, and it's all just so much. He's given her so much, and yet she just—
"It is scary." He admits, softly. Her body jolts in place, her breathing quicker than just a few minutes earlier and she hadn't realized, "Everything has changed so quickly. I don't know how to truly handle it."
Collei finally faces him, swallowing when his body turns towards her properly, "Is it scarier... than going so far to hunt scholars?"
He weighs her words carefully, thinking it over, "It is." He ultimately decides, "It's different from fighting and seeking justice. The decision to love and the changes from that are not meant to be judged by the scales. I am scared of that uncertainty."
Cyno doesn't avert his gaze, waiting for her to gather her own thoughts as she allowed him to. "It's all just..." She closes her eyes, not wanting to watch him as he finally sees all that she is. All the ugly parts of her heart that cannot give them her complete happiness at a joyous time. "Sometimes, I feel like I just came here yesterday. There was still so much about Sumeru I didn't know about before. And then, with Lesser Lord Kusanali taking over and the reform— Not that I'm against it! I understand why! I just..."
She sucks in a breath and Cyno nods despite her inability to see. "I want you both to be happy..." She says, "But, it's so much sometimes. I just don't know..." She blinks her eyes open, searching for comfort and answers in the desert sun, "how I would fit in your new life..."
Cyno doesn't reach for her to comfort her. His voice remains firm, "While our home lives may change because Al-Haitham and Kaveh are here, they will not take your place in our homes or in our family. Things may change, but your inclusion in our family will not. You are our family. They will join, but never take over your place." She is quiet where she stands, biting down on her lower lip and gnawing it until she can taste metal in her mouth.
The taste drags her mind back to the surface, where he is waiting for her. Always waiting, always patient, always ready to catch her. And he does when she steps into his warmth, "I'm scared." She whispers, begging for his affection as she buries herself closer.
There is no reason to be, she can almost hear him say. She doesn't know how she would respond because there is a reason! There are many!
Instead, all he does is gather her closer and support her entire weight as she unravels, "That's okay." She nearly crumbles. She knows all the possible meanings to those two words would make her mind combust, so she will simply take it for all she knows it to be.
No matter the changes, he will be by her side. How can she continue to be scared forever if the brave and strong General Mahamatra will be the one guiding her, just as he has done before?

When the four are settling for the night, Collei back in her own hut, Tighnari glances at Cyno, "Did the talk go well?" The General shrugs, setting his cloak on the chair and stripping out of the ornaments lining his pants.
"We both need some time to get used to everything." He admits, catching how Kaveh pauses in fixing his hair up.
"You're having regrets?" He asks, voice more meek than it should be.
Cyno twists quickly with a frown, "No." He is quick to deny, truthfully, "I know you went to the desert to learn about our proper proposals. Even the dowry and this"—he raises a hand to tap the clip pinning his hair back and hopefully tug it out of his knotted hair—"must have taken you all so much time and effort." His frown deepens when the ornament catches on strands of white, too tired to tend to it it properly.
He is moments away from just ripping it out, his hair be damned, when Al-Haitham taps his hand away. "Stop that." He eases Cyno to take a seat at the edge of the bed. The Grand Sage presses a light kiss against his temple as he begins to pull detangle his hair.
His eyes close at the gentle touches, "I don't think I'll ever get used to all this." He admits. Tighnari's tail wraps around his torso, the fox's worry clear in the protective hold it has, as if anyone in the room would dare to harm him.
"What do you mean?" Kaveh's voice is closer than it was moments before and the dip in the mattress is enough for the General to know exactly where he is.
"Being loved." Kaveh makes a sound and grabs Cyno's hand despite the other two knowing he shares the sentiment. How ironic it is that the two who feel the most worries about whether they deserve love are always giving so much of it.
Still, unintentionally ignoring the blonde rambles, Cyno's soft mumbles continue. Al-Haitham's ministrations are dragging the exhaustion from the place he forced them back to, threatening to pull him under. His head falls against the man's shoulder, the tail and hand holding him adding another layer of comfort. "One day, I'll repay you all for everything you've given to me." It's a promise, one the other three don't want or need.
He can't make our their denials, welcoming the comfort of sleep while surrounded by three people who love him. The three must realize he is gone because they settle into a slightly tense quiet, Tighnari shaking his head in disbelief. Still, they settle into the bed to join him in his slumber. It'll be a conversation for later, a serious one they will need to have. But, for now, it's okay to leave it be and let their precious general rest.
Cyno is the first to wake up, half laying on top of Al-Haitham with his head still on his shoulder and the other's hand pressing against the small of his back. Tighnari's tail remains a weight over his body, crossing over Al-Haitham and still reaching Kaveh on the other side of Cyno, whose hand is firm in his. He blinks ones, twice, thrice— he smiles and closes them again. If getting married means this more often, he truly can't wait. No matter how unnerving it all is, at least he has three people who love him and will catch him every time.

Look I’ve been thinking about it a lot, but as a Dorothea and Ingrid shipper I don’t ship Dorothea and Ingrid because of their supports. Their supports feel incomplete. It’s a incomplete narrative, and there are better supports if you want to understand who these two girls are as people.
However, I DO ship them because of their paralogue, because ultimately their paralogue gets to the route of the real reason I ship them.
These are two young women, completely different in personality, in upbringing, and in goals and current experiences. These are two young women, who for different reasons feel the pressures of marriage.
Dorothea, wishes to marry for comfort and stability, and I think it’s in her hopes that from marriage she gets a family. She knows that love in marriage might be a impossibility, but yet she turns down the suitors that displease her again and again.
Meanwhile, Ingrid does not wish to marry but rather feels like she has to, to provide for the comfort and stability of her own family. Yet, she turns down every marriage proposal, because marriage isn’t a goal for her, it’s a prison.
Neither Dorothea or Ingrid truly feel like that there are options outside of marrying up in the world. Ingrid is expected to marry to pass on her family’s legacy, the crest, and bring income from a good spouse. Dorothea wishes to marry, because she doesn’t want to be a washed up opera singer, forced to live on the streets again, begging for scraps. Ingrid can’t truly make a career as a knight, and Dorothea can’t be a self made woman because the system of nobility doesn’t truly allow it.
So, when Ingrid has a engagement with a past suitor of Dorothea, a suitor that in Dorothea’s eyes was distasteful—Ingrid listens and they investigate the suitor together. Neither of them needed that suitor, and when it turns out that he is indeed the distasteful man Dorothea knew him to be, they fight him.
In their paralogue they are fighting for each other, and for themselves.
And the idea of both of them, making a life together, of not needing marriage with a man to provide for themselves is a beautiful thing. Perhaps they can create stability for one another. Maybe other girls can as well. Perhaps Dorothea gets to marry for love, and maybe Ingrid finds a partnership that doesn’t feel like a prison but rather sets her free.
And I just love them, and I don’t think their supports do what they could have been justice.
And that’s really what I had to say for today.
