you’re right next to me, but you’re a long way from home
Scar lay there, eyes glazed, eyes crinkling at the corners in his familiar, lilting smile. His red hands, now covered in dust and long-old calluses, his red hands made for killing that came back from the dead with a bouquet, his hands that planted rue and cloves and mint, his hands that cooked bundt cake on sundays and always burned a little when he turned out the cake too early, his hands that fit too perfectly around Grian's, fell from a gentle cradle around Grian's face. They hit Grian's useless wings, draped behind his body like a shield, with a thump, sending dust into the air. A loose feather caught between two of his fingers, dragging into the hot sand, Scar's warm blood all soaking all-too-familiarly into the soft tips of the scarlet primary.
Isn’t it that birds signal life? At sea, they release doves to find land, to find life. Pigeons carry messages of hope, of fate, of death and of no importance. Canaries signal when it’s time to leave a noxious cave. But who was the canary for a macaw? What dove would lead him to land? What good was a pretty bird with cut feathers? What good was a pretty bird but to watch? To perch? To crouch over a precipice, to give into the tragedy of falling in love, to wait for this simple, massive emotion, this love full of caveats, to pull him into the sky? What good was a pretty bird but to fall?
Grian stared, useless. His wings draped, useless. His hands cupped Scar's unmoving cheeks, useless. A tear rolled down the length of his nose, his lips, his chin. He hadn't realized he was crying. His lungs heaved, heavy. His drowning, his death, was a quiet, desperate thing, a long time coming, an instant shock. He breathed in, stale air forcing its way into his corpse, into his body where he was sure there was no soul. Grian was sure he had died. Something in him had died. He breathed in. He breathed out.
He looked up. He’d won. He’d lost. He was alone. Scar’s blood oozed with his own, his heart lay still with his own, his familiar smile reflecting one on Grian's face. He traced Scar's face, gently, wiped a stray tear and closed his eyes. He didn't linger. He stepped away from the home he built with the man he just beat to death. His hands were covered in blood he couldn't see, blood that dripped and oozed and slipped under his guilty, heavy feet. He killed himself.
The wind through his feathers reminded him of flying one last time.
A distant sun began to set over the desert, the sand beautiful and silent and distantly soft, ephemerally lethal, devastating and tranquil.
Their life was over.

Creator!Reader who has religious trauma!
780 words (maybe I'll make another part that's longer)
Tw: Religious Trauma,Worship,It's basically a cult, they do not respect you, mention of being constantly watched.
You were shaking again. Sitting in a balcony pew in a church built in your honor,Your acolytes sitting with you. You could feel it all coming back. You hated it,but you couldn't leave this time. You couldn't just get up and leave. You couldn't ignore the pastors words about you. Your breathing was getting shallower. When had the air gotten so thick? You couldn't breathe, you needed to breathe. Your ears rung,a high pitched sound you couldn't make go away.
Aether and Lumine are the first to notice your distress. Aether looks worried. "Your grace,is the sermon not to your liking?" He asks, ready to stop the sermon at a moment's notice. You shake your head. You can't speak. Not now. Your tongue feels heavy, like cotton in your mouth.
Zhongli is next. "Your grace,if it's not to your liking,we can change it." You finally find your voice. You know leaving will disappoint everyone, that it will cause a lot of drama, but you can't stay another second.
"I wish to go home Zhongli." He nods, and you stand up. Everyone in the church turns to look at you, looking to see your next movements, but you simply look at the floor and turn around, walking out of the balcony and out of the church, taking a deep, shaky breath when you are finally outside. You're out. You're safe.
"Your Grace, are you ok? Was the sermon not to your liking?" Zhongli's voice snaps you out of your trance, and you see that there are no prying eyes. It's only you and your attending acolytes. You feel the tears start to fall, and you let yourself sob, ignoring the worried looks your acolytes send each other. No matter how long ago it was,no matter if you lived in Tevyat or Earth, you couldn't shake the way anxiety seized your heart, the way your body began to shake. The way you became so scared. You hated all this creator nonsense,it just reminded you of the one who caused so you much pain. Reminded you that you were just like them. That you were no better than them.
The way your acolytes worshiped your every move, the way the ground ached for your touch. It scared you so much. You feared the pain, the hurt, the suffering of those who followed "your" doctrine. Most people would love to be a God. Not you. For you it only reminded you of the pain you had to deal with. How many had died because they looked like you? How many young children had to hide themselves because they had the same hair or the same eyes? How many had been killed? How many lives had been lost simply because of something as simple as hair color?
You were "home" now. It'd been months since you were found to be the true creator, but you'd never truly  feel like this was "home". Not when those you once saw as equals kneeled and grovelled at your feet. Not when the title of "god" was forced upon you. You had tried to explain, but your "darling" followers had taken it as a sign to worship more. To atone for the sin of making you feel inadequate. That's what Zhongli had said. When you told him he weeded. He thought that you were uncomfortable because of what they had done to you. You remember that conversation. It had only been a couple hours ago,yet it felt like it had been years.
"...And that's why I don't want to be treated like a God. I hope you understand." You said, looking at your knees as you sat across from Zhongli, who looked very calm.
"Of course your grace,I understand. We shall double our worship." Your eyes widened. That wasn't what you wanted!
"Zhongli no,that's not what I meant-" Zhongli cut you off, voice sounding sad as he began to kneel at your feet.
"We will never make you feel inadequate to be our God ever again your excellency. You have my word." You just nodded, holding back the tears that threatened to flow. Your mind screeched. 'NO NO NO,THAT'S NOT WHAT I WANT…' but you didn't speak. You couldn't find the words.
It hurt remembering that. Knowing that you would never be truly understood. That you would always be *
watched, trapped. Even now,you were stuck inside your room, with an acolyte watching outside your door. You were a 'God',yet you couldn't control your own followers. How silly. You hated this. Hated that you were surrounded by people yet had no friends, hated the way your body would shake like a leaf in the wind whenever you were reminded of your 'Godly' status. Hated that you couldn't ignore this treatment. Hated how you had Nightmares of being hunted, hated how you flinched whenever someone tried to touch you. Hated how you could barely remember your own name. Hated how you couldn't remember what your friends looked like, what your family looked like. Hated how your memories of your old life slipped through your fingers like sand. You hated it all.
Oh how you wished you weren't a God.

the nickname
[789 words]
Kirishima didn’t mean to let the nickname slip. He really didn’t.
It was a slip of the tongue. Yes, he often referred to his best bro in his own mind as such, but he didn’t mean to say it out loud.
Kirishima had barged into Bakugo’s room earlier that evening for their weekly hangout. Since first year, the two boys had slowly become attached at the hip, and now in their third year they had developed an unspoken rule that Sunday nights were Bakubro and Kiri hangout nights (or, at least that's how Kirishima referred to them). They settled on playing a mean game of Mario Kart tonight, both boys' competitive sides on full display. Normally, Bakugo was the one bringing home the first place title. Kirishima, of course always trying to win, didn’t mind when Bakugo won–he was just so cute with an arrogant fire in his eyes and that feral smirk on his lips.
Kirishima had been sitting on the floor with his long legs outstretched towards the TV (he had grown to be significantly taller than his best friend, much to Bakugo’s dismay) leaning against the bed. Bakugo himself was on the bed above Kirishima, slowly inching towards the edge of the bed in his cross-legged position as he got more and more invested in the game.
It was the fourth and final track of the circuit and Bakugo was up two wins to Kirishima’s one, looking like Bakugo was going to secure his reign for a fifth week in a row. Except… Bakugo was having a lot of issues with the CPUs this round. It was honestly really funny to watch him rage at the game, and Bakugo was doing well enough that Kirishima was still expecting him to win.
“There is no fucking way, I was just hit with a green shell! There is no way that was the full cool down time! Stop laughing, shitty hair, you know that was absolute bull!”
Kirishima could not stop laughing at his best friend’s reaction to his perceived injustice. They were both nearing the end, with them and all of the CPUs neck and neck. Somehow, Kirishima was able to pull ahead into first place, and right before Bakugo was about to cross the finish line for second place he was hit with another red shell.
“Are you fucking serious?! There is no way, I was totally about to cross the finish line! Fourth?? I got fourth place?!? You did not deserve this win, idiot.”
Kirishima threw his head back in his laughter, eyes watering and abs hurting. He heard Bakugo growl above him and felt him shift–wait, since when were they close enough…?
Opening his eyes, Kirishima realized he’d essentially thrown his head back straight into Bakugo’s lap. Fire red eyes met the darker burgundy of the ones above him. There were traces of a scowl on his face, no doubt from the loss, but Kirishima was met with mostly surprise from his best friend above him.
The blinds were open, letting the golden rays of sunset stream through the window. Kirishima had never thought much about the positioning of the dorms, but in that moment he was thanking every deity he could list that they were facing west. The light reflected beautifully off the blonde locks hanging over Bakugo’s face as it tilted towards him. The rays filtering through his luminated hair refracted through the reds of his eyes. Bakugo naturally ran warm, a side effect of his quirk which could be felt by the boy in his lap. His strong calf and quad muscles had tensed when a head first landed in his lap, but, and to Kirishima’s surprise, they were relaxing into the comforting weight.
There was little Kirishima could do other than stare up at the beautiful sight above him.
“...’Tsuki…”
“...Huh?”
He hadn’t realized anything had come out of his mouth until the boy above him twisted his face in confusion and replied. Kirishima flushed, immediately trying to backpedal. “Oh! Sorry, sorry, I’ll…” He moved to lean his head upright and shift away, not wanting to make his best friend uncomfortable.
He couldn’t, though. Not with a hand in his hair.
Steeling himself (ready to harden himself for an explosive reaction, literally) he looked back up into the eyes of the boy he more than likely had just crossed a line with. When he met the other’s eyes, however, he was shocked to find a hint of a smile on Bakugo’s face and… was that a blush?
“The moon to your sun, huh? I–I like it.”
He felt his face split open into the widest smile Kirishima could possibly handle, reaching his hand up to join the one holding his hair gently.
“Alright then, ‘Tsuki.”

Here are all the characters backstories!!!
Everyone's stories are included under the cut!
And a silly pic of all 8 of the crewmates ^^
Tumblr media
Wally
Wally used to live on a deserted island, far away from the others. Its here that Wally developed his passion for painting! He begun to paint everything he saw until he painted the entire island! During his lengthy endeavor he came upon Home, a dangerous ghost trapped in a magical pendant. Wally has always had an odd connection with ghosts allowing him to achieve things that most creatures cannot do without magic. Its possible that Wally is a magical entity of some kind, but this is a secret the mysterious man will keep to himself. The two have an odd relationship, but it seems that Wally enjoys their company has he even allows Home to roam around as much as they can. Due to a curse, Home cannot leave their pendant and exist in the mortal realm unless they possess an inanimate object. After Wally finished painting the island, he felt a bit lonely and wished he had more to paint, luckily for him a duo of pirates came across his island! After seeing their ship Wally wondered if it would lead him to more islands to paint. This caused him to sneak inside it, where he would remain for many months until Sally found him and showed him to the crew...
Barnaby
Once upon a time, an angry mother gave birth to a small blue puppy. The mother saw the baby as a curse, and threw him into the ocean. The puppy inevitably drowned with its final thoughts full of sorrow as he wondered if his life could've been better. A vengeful ghost saw the puppy floating in the waters. It pitied the poor creature and fused with it. The spirit of the ghost and the puppy merged under one goal, to gain control of life and death. This fusion is Barnaby Beagle! He grew up with his adopted mother (named Theodora in this au), a retired pirate who lived on a small island. She told him stories of a treasure that could make someone live forever and also revive those who've passed. When Barnaby grew up it became his sole mission to find that gem no matter how long it took and no matter who stood in his way. He inherited his mother's ship, the white feather and begun his journey! This led him down a path of finding comrades for his life long journey and also and devouring anyone he deemed a threat. He's known on the seas as a cutthroat pirate who doesn't know when to quit, or doesn't seperate his opponents from his next meal/chew toy. Earning him the title of "The sabertooth seadog". Despite his reputation however, Barnaby is incredibly kind to his mates and always makes sure to give nearly all his treasure and food to them...
Sally
2 billion years ago a luminous star was born. Although known by many names, the name given to her by most pirates was "The Treasure Star." For many decades Pirates would look for her in the sky, as it was stated that whatever direction the star was in, there were many rarities to be found. She didn't mind helping the Pirates at first and enjoyed all the attention she was gathering, but after a while she grew tired of never gaining anything herself. She decided that the next ship she saw staring at her, she would join them on their journey. When she noticed someone look her way she excitedly burst into action! The delicate star managed to fall onto the ship without breaking anything. She looked around for any pirates on the ship but she appeared to be too late, as the deck was empty upon her lengthy arrival. The poor star began to monolog to herself as she often did whenever she felt alone, but much to her surprise someone responded. That someone being a tall dog who didn't seem to care too much for pirating despite being the only one on the boat. Her and the laid-back pirate didn't get along too well at first, however they formed a bit of a bond with eachother as they traveled to many islands. The star eventually chose a name for herself, that name being "Sally Starlet" after learning that Sally was another word for princess, a princess of course has lots of treasure, which she definitely wanted to have for her own! With her new name and new motivation, there's nothing stopping this treasure of a girl now...
Frank
Frank was born from a family of nobles in a luxurious town called lugredia. For many years the enby was told that he could live a life without troubles or worries of any kind. Despite this, he longed to explore the outside land, more specifically the beautiful species of fish. He spent part of his fortune on a distinguished crew, and a large boat to travel the seas. He alongside his husband set sail on a voyage to study all the fish in the world. Unfortunately after a few months the trip would turn sour as late in the night ship crashed into a rock. Thankfully the crew managed to escape on life boats. The only one missing being Eddie, who somehow managed to sleep through everything. Frank fearfully went back onto the sinking ship to rescue his sleeping lover. Against all odds, he managed to rescue him and evacuate to the final lifeboat. They we're stranded in the middle of the sea all night until they were abducted by a band of pirates. Frank woke up in a surprisingly comfortable bed next to Eddie. He looked around the room and saw a note that read
"Hey, we found ya floating in the middle of the sea, so you're kinda our hostages now. The door's unlocked so when you wake up, come up and say hi, or don't.
Sea ya there!
The Cap'n.
P.S. Don't worry bout that guy next to you, Howdy will make him better. "
Frank was confused to say the least. He had to see what this was all about...
Eddie
A peasant boy with cruddy luck that everyone but him seems to be aware of. Ever since he was a child, he was stuck being a maid to the Frankly Family. Frank spoke to him everyday and the two became close friends. As they got older the two fell in love and got married (despite Mr Frankly's wishes). Eddie promised that he'd follow Frank to the end of the earth so when his husband wished to travel the seas he happily accompanied him. Unfortunately during the course of the trip Eddie fell ill with a disease that left him with a high fever. Eddie spent many of his days sleeping as his head filled with delirious thoughts. As he was recovering from the disease he woke up in a different place, shivering from his wet clothing. A tall figured entered the room with a potion in one of his hands, a spoon in the other and a small bag in his 3rd hand. Eddie was incredibly confused especially when the figure put the spoon in Eddie's mouth. It tasted like brown sugar! So in a fever induced haze he quickly slurped both spoons of it. The second liquid tasted like marshmallows, so Eddie drank that one too. The figure then pulled a powder out of his bag and sprinkled it on top of him, causing him to fall asleep. When Eddie woke up again he felt all better. He found a mop laying around and figured he'd clean up a bit to repay them. He's been swabbing the decks ever since, alongside the figure that saved his life that day...
Howdy
He was once the apprentice to a great shopkeeper in a small town. Howdy always hoped that one day he'd be able to make a name for himself, but for a long time it felt as if things were never going to change. On a trip to a faraway beach, he uncovered a book that contained recipes for various potions. He decided to keep the book and learn how to make the contents inside. A few months later nearly everyone came down with a fatal disease. Howdy identified the disease as something he had read about in his book, so he made potions for everyone in town. Everyone drank it and recovered instantly. However upon learning what the substance was, they kicked Howdy out of town for performing witchcraft. The beach Howdy had once gone to relax now became his prison. While strolling the sand he found a colorful shell. He figured since he had nothing better to do, he'd talk into it. He was incredibly surprised to hear a voice on the other line! They spoke for hours at a time and one day, the voice asked if he would like to accompany him on a pirate journey. Although skeptical at first, Howdy agreed. After a day, a nervous mermaid came to the beach. She told him to get on her back and she'd take him to the ship. As they rode off into the distance Howdy thought of the voice again, hoping he'd finally meet him...
Poppy
Like a stone in a treasure chest or a rubber fish in the ocean, this poor mermaid didn't seem to belong anywhere! Poppy tried to fit in with other merfolk but nothing she did ever seemed to work. The poor mermaid felt lonely, so she swam to the surface to look at the stars. Her favorite was known by many pirates as "The Treasure star." The star felt like a close friend. She spoke to it whenever it was in the sky, telling it her worries and such. Once day, the star disappeared. She was very upset, but she remembered the legend of the star, and decided to swim in the direction she last remembered it. She swam for miles and miles without fail hoping that her treasure would be a place to belong. After a few days she stumbled upon an island full of rainbow monsters. One of its residents came to greet her upon arrival! It turned out the monster was a treasure hunter, and she wanted Poppy to come with her on her next trip. Poppy wanted to join but she couldn't, as she could not go on land. The monster giggled and told Poppy she'd be back as she ran off. After a few minutes, the monster returned with a glistening shell shaped charm. "If you put this on, you'll be able to go on land!" She cheered. Poppy was anxious, but against her better judgment, she attached the charm to her shirt and attempted to leave the ocean. Suddenly her body began to glow as her scales became feathers. She was transformed! She hugged the monster and happily accompanied her on her journey, not knowing it would be the one that would change both their lives forever...
Julie
A perfect life just isn't so perfect is it? That was certainly the case for Julie Joyful. Growing up in rainbow monster village, she had always felt there was more to life than just staying in one place. So one day, she decided to explore the island and see what she could find! She uncovered a cave full of beautiful flowers and various rainbow gems. She brought some of her flowers to her 3 siblings but they disliked her gift, as they thought it was odd and possibly even dangerous. Julie cried into the night, hoping that one day she'd find someone just as passionate as she was. Her wishes were granted when a mermaid washed up onto the beach! After gifting her a charm she had found, the two became close friends and went treasure hunting together! On their endeavor to find a pure gold flower, they encountered a duo of pirates, one a large dog and the other being a glowing star, after the same thing. It was a friendly battle between the 2 amateur treasure hunting duos! After searching all day, neither group could find the golden flower they were after. Julie then proposed the idea that they'd be better at finding it if they all worked together! They put their competition to rest, and with the four of them working together, they found the flower in no time! The dog had decided that Julie and the mermaid should be the ones to keep the flower, seeing as it was Julie who brought them together. Julie didn't want to take the flower away from her new friends, but she still wanted to add it to her treasure bouquet. The star then came up with an idea. She offered Julie and the mermaid to join them on their journey to find the life gem! Julie was elated and happily joined, her mermaid friend shared the same sentiment. After saying goodbye to her family, she hopped aboard, ready for her life to finally begin...
Home
....
No one truly knows.
But they were imprisoned for a reason...
And that's everyone!
Heres a pic of the crew if you made it to the end
Ahoy neighbors!!!

5 and 29 please?
5—what’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?
having given the matter a great deal of thought, i’ve come to the conclusion that i have no interest in writing a corinthian/lucienne femdom hatesex on the beach fic, on the grounds that i’m personally not compelled by the fantasy it presents. apologies to everyone who read the middle section of that sentence and immediately went AWOOGA AWOOGA BARK BARK BARK BARK AWOOOOO like a cartoon character. i know you are out there and i heard you do it.
the real bummer of this whole affair, though, is the fact that “beg me to spare thee the back of my hand” would have been a kickass title. free to a good home, friends!
29—share a bit from a fic you’ll never post OR from a scene that was cut from an already posted fic.
i don’t work in drafts, so everything that’s been cut from existing fics has been sent to hell already. but what i CAN offer you is this (probably obnoxiously long) snippet from a portion of wereverse that i will probably never actually post about, lovingly nicknamed, “the bath time fic”:
The tub isn’t quite wide enough for them to sit side-by-side, and he moves toward the tap a little so Lucienne can lower herself into the water, angles himself so his cheek is to her, rather than his back. A dark glitter as his gaze flicks over her body. She knows it’s ridiculous to have an attack of modesty right now, but she brings her arms up to cover her breasts. “There,” she says, too cheerful even for her own ears. “Does that help?” Dream makes a small noise in his throat. Maybe assent. Hard to tell. But he does reach out with one hand and rest his knuckles gently against Lucienne’s knee. You can tell he’s getting keyed when he starts grabbing and clinging and clawing at you. Light touches are a good sign. They mean he’s present enough to be careful. (Well. They mean something’s present enough, says a voice in her head that sounds a lot like Cori. She ignores that, as best she can.) “Is the water warm enough?” A nod. Better and better. “Do you need me to soap you, or…?” Silence for a moment. Dream’s throat works, like there’s a reply stuck in there trying to get out, but in the end he just unfolds one slim arm and picks up the bar of soap himself. “All right. Well…” Lucienne settles herself a little uncomfortably against the back of the tub. “Just—let me know. If you need anything.” His white lashes go up like a pair of dove’s wings. Luminous dark underneath, whites visible only at the corners. A creature’s eyes, an animal’s eyes, for all that he’s being so good about holding onto his human shape. That’s going to be…difficult to explain to people not in the know about his condition, at some point, but Lucienne’s not thinking about that yet, she’s just thinking about immediate concerns, practicalities— He shifts position slightly so the tips of his toes are resting against hers. A faint line works its way in between his brows. He still doesn’t speak, but that expression is plain as black ink on white paper: is this okay? Lucienne has to smile at that. Her face aches, like she’s lost the muscle memory sometime in the past however-many weeks. Footsie. Aren’t the two of them fucking adorable.

I love your Genshin lore takes, any interesting hcs/AUs/lore bits you'd like to share? Also, amazing art!
AA!!!!
Tumblr media
That makes me so happy to hear actually??? THank you???? I love getting to ramble about genshin or stuff I'm into i'm just often too shy asldfkaslfalsgsdgdsdgsg so thank you!!!!! ;;v;; AND THANKS I'M GLAD YOU LIKE MY ART TOO!!!!!! ;;v;; <3 <3 <3 OOOoooh HMMM, I've been more into TWST and Trigun Recently so let me dig up my braincells to think about it dfLSJFLSDJGLSDGD Throwing stuff below the cut cause this could get LONG
Well on the subject of Itto, I headcanon him being 6'6 ft tall... Why??? Because it makes his voiceline about everybody shorter than him being a child really funny. 🤣 Also because he beeg and you can't convince me otherwise SDLFJSDLJGSLDGSD OOOOH Okay this one is very much a headcanon i have for pure self indulgence: So my two genshin blorbos of main focus are Zhongli and Diluc right? I like to headcanon that, at some point after Diluc was nearly killed by the harbingers, he collapsed somewhere near Liyue harbor (His injuries probably weren't directly related to the Harbinger ones, tho it depends on the amount of time it's taken between That incident and him being in Liyue, I think I came up with this idea LONG before i really understood a lot of what Diluc actually did away from home xD) he's found and carried to Liyue, where he's tended to, probably by Baizhu cause I love Baizhu, and recovers. Its here he's visited by Zhongli. Zhongli knew Crepus. Not super well! They weren't besties or nothin, but Crepus would be in Liyue, and Zhongli would be in Liyue, both of them having some level of prestige, Zhongli through his job and Crepus through his Titles, ended up meeting. They would talk and of course that means Zhongli heard about Diluc. Beyond that even, Zhongli was probably vaguely aware of Diluc's existence just from the fact that Crepus is a Ragnvindr, which means gossip/news on his family spreads potentially across the globe. (And maybe Zhongli checked in once in a while out of honor to a dear friend he hadn't seen in five hundred years...) ANYWAYS. Zhongli introduces himself and mentions he knew Crepus. A grieving Diluc probably asks for more information without really knowing if he wants more info or not. Its through this that Zhongli learns of Crepus's passing, and Diluc being less well put together from his injuries, ends up confessing to having hurt Kaeya. He despairs of ever being able to make up for it, to which Zhongli is surprisingly quiet and attentive before finally speaking up: "...Life is short, like the flower, it blooms for a season, blossoms in all its color and beauty, and then it shrivels away on the winds, nothing left of it but the Sweetness of memory." He pauses. "If you care about your brother, than return to him, confess your wrong doings, and don't let the burden of you mistakes carry until such a time as the ability to do something about them is force-ably taken away from your hands." The mans smile is soft, but sad. Not in a pitying way, and not in a way that is even directed at Diluc, if anything, he seems thousands of miles away. "There are fewer burdens, and fewer regrets, that can weigh heavier." This of course creates a fun dynamic to play around with if Lumine or other events drag Diluc to Liyue later >:D As for AU's I can give you two I've dwelled on!: Number one is an Inazuma rewrite, but I bring in a party of my chosing. I started this one before I played the game, so I didn't exaclty understand what went down in the INazuma plot, but Man I was having fun so xD THe party of choice in this case was Zhongli, Diluc, Thoma, and of course Lumine. I had fun with this idea because it allowed Zhongli and Diluc to function in the plot, and Thoma would be WAAAAY more involved as well. I didn't iron out Loads of details, but I wanted there to be a big confrontation between Lumine and Zhongli based off the fact that Azhdaha's quest happened before Inazuma, and before that was uh. THe reveal of Khaenri'ah. Needless to say Lumine's not exactly feeling the greatest about Zhongli. But she considers him a friend, or at least wants too. Zhongli is dealing with the sting of a pre-inazuma plot confrontation from Lumine, where she confessed that she'd have a hard time trusting him if he kept keeping secrets and he couldn't explain himself.
The two of them were planned to get into a huge fight that ALMOST gets physical. But Diluc stops them (Something something he knows making the mistake of attacking someone you love out of fear and broken trust 🙃) This ends up splitting the party for a while, Diluc going off with Zhongli, and Thoma staying with Lumine. Ultimately I wanted this to end with Zhongli getting to have a bit Showdown with Raiden Shogun, essentially kinda getting to brute force his way into her grief. I always loved the idea of the woman who can't move on from grief talking with the man who has suffered so much grief but still lives, this would kinda allow that, it would also allow for Zhongli to be a little bit of a father figure to Ei in her frustrations and grief. Also it would be hilarious if Inazuma kinda knew Rex Lapis was alive... but he kinda saved all their butts, so nobody's going to out him xD This would essentially spiral into a lot of canon divergence plots and development for the cast of characters that's just, not in canon? But man I still think it'd be so fun :D Also Diluc and Ei eventually become friends through this adsflJSFLSJDLGJSLDGJSDGSDG. I think they could help each other :) The SECOND AU is one where, Diluc, on his journey, ends up getting stuck in Inazuma before he can get home. So diluc is visionless, Has the Delusion, and is not in good health. Itto ends up finding him passed out on a beach, drags him back to Granny Oni's, and his gang nurse him back to health all while assuming Diluc was a victim of the Vision hunt decree (i think the vision hunt decree is pretty recent in canon?? This would be an AU where the timeline got bumped up, probably Raiden starts off a lot slower with the vision hunts, only taking a few of them once in a great while to further "eternity" Until she spirals bad enough to start taking them all.... IDK its rough but workable maybe xD) THis AU is mostly for letting Itto bully Diluc into loving himself among other things xD and the angst of it taking even longer for Diluc and Kaeya to reunite...... WHich i would defo make them reunite when Lumine comes over to finally end the Vision hunt decree soooooooooo >:3 Diluc ends up getting adopted by the Arataki gang, by EVERY member, and he's not happy about it (He is, he's just a freaking tsundere)

Not to be specific but are there any lyrics you heavily associate with any of your fics??
Oh boy do I nonny do I ever Look, let's start things classically - the song I daydream about Project Sunseeker to if you recognise where I found this shh that's confidential information
Through ourselves we send a sign, but the messages are breaking... Pushing further into flight, now we're hoping that we'll make it... Now, I'm not open to the dark, but this faith is going nowhere... Have I over run my time or is my number up? Far beyond the universe, we find our minds inside ourselves... I have courage on my side, and strength within my soul... But I've never felt like this, as want is growing cold... Will you stay with me a while? I think I'm going deeper...
Then let's bop all the way forwards to the formative song for A Cold And Unfamiliar Home which did in fact inspire the name of the fic I'm fully aware these are the full lyrics but I do not care they all matter too much and exist on rotation in fact
Held on to hope like a noose, like a rope God and medicine take no mercy on him Poisoned his blood, and burned out his throat Enough is enough, he's a long way from home Days of my youth wasted on a selfish fool Who ran for the hills from the hand you were dealt I flew far away, as far as I could go Your time is running out And I'm a long way from home Laid up in bed, you were laid up in bed Holding the pain like you're holding your breath I prayed you could sleep, sleep like a stone You're right next to me But you're a long way from home Hospital gowns never fit like they should We yelled at the nurse, didn't do any good More morphine, the last words you moaned At last I was sure That you weren't far away from home
Third up let's shuffle backwards in time to House Of Anarchy, which I'm still pretty fuckin fond off dear overlong oneshot it is and also yes the title is indeed from a later point in this song
Should I stay? Should I go? Should I run far away To the point where I can't even see the universe? I know I’m killing time And baby that’s not fine I’ll pack it in, pack it in, never smoke anything Never eat anything that will compromise my health And, baby that means you, too That means you
And last but not least let's look at one of the inspirational songs behind my latest rotateable fic - The Longshot
We had a fight last night you and I You threw a punch and it hit me in the eye Oh for what I have done i'm on the road to hell When I meet the devil this is what he will tell me Oh no boy, I don't know what you're doing here Since you were a kid you always put the fear Of God into me, can you see you're wasting me Oh no boy, I don't know what you're doing here 'Cause oh, the devil don't want my Devil don't want my soul Oh no boy, the devil don't want my Devil don't want my soul Oh no boy, the devil don't want my Devil don't want my soul Oh no boy, the devil don't want my Devil don't want my soul Oh no Now I can't tell the difference between right or wrong My list of mistakes is so goddamn long I can't afford to make too many more Or i'll end up worse than I was before

The Star Wars Book That Broke Me- The Rising Storm Review
Tumblr media
Introduction
It's been a long time since I reviewed a High Republic novel on my tumblr but I have to just have to talk about this novel. Loved reading a Test Of Courage and Into The Dark but at suggested in the title, this novel broke me in all the best ways possible. My brother is moaning at me for taking so long to get through Phase 1 but after reading The Rising Storm I totally think that for my emotional wellbeing it's definitely best to take it all in at a slower. The novel was tense throughout but that ending man. As of this review I'm onto my 6th main read of 2024 and I'm still not over it. I don't think I'll ever be. For those who've read the novel you know.
Star Wars is mainly targeted for kids but I love how their still able to make really emotional and heavy books for adult fans too. Whilst Light Of The Jedi is the perfect introduction to the era of The High Republic, The Rising Storm is the perfect introduction to the stakes and how destructive the Nihil are. We get to see the cost of War and Violence. I was shocked at how tense and high stakes this novel was. Trust me none of your favourites are safe when it comes to The High Republic. It makes a nice change as the orginal two movies in the OT don't allow you to focus on death very much.
I also felt like the new characters fit in very well and didn't feel unesssacary. Nearly all the reviews I read insulted the inclusion of characters like the chancellors son and the workers at the fair but I thought they were all nesscary compared to Aftermath where you get an interlude of two people randomly fighting in a street. I'm also just really grateful that the writers of Project Luminous have clearly planned and communicated with each other.
Tumblr media
What I Liked
Everything! I seriously did not think it could get any better than Light Of The Jedi but it has. Not only did is pass my expectations it exceeded them, it also in my personal opinion improved heavily on some people's criticisms of Light Of The Jedi. I also think all the povs are sewen perfectly together through the narrative of a single goal. I'm also really excited to pick up more of Cavan Scott's books now.
There's so much I could talk about and analyse when it comes to this gem of a novel but I'll do my best to trim down my praise to the three best aspects of this incredibly action packed novel.
First I have to praise the incredible character arcs throughout the novel. Cavan Scott manages to pick off from where we left some of out characters from Light Of The Jedi to the point you can't even tell there's been a change in writer. Elzar, Stellan, Ty, Lina Soh, Bell, Lourna, Pan and Marchion are just some of the many characters that grow throughout the novel really well. It's an impressive achievement in itself since the adult high republic novels love to include such a large cast of characters. Every character felt like they had reason to be there and like they made a difference to the story. There was also brilliantly foreshadowing in earlier parts of the novel to where some of the characters might end up. Out of all of the character arcs through Bell and Elzar's arcs definitely hit home the most as it is important to remember that asking for help isn't shameful as well as reaching out to others when grieving. The character development is the glue of this book and it really does pay off if you've read Light Of The Jedi.
Secondly the stakes. I dreaded putting this book down everyday due to how much danger Cavan manages to put our core cast through. If you had me attached me to a heart monitor whilst I was reading this novel you'd see it stay spiked up throughout. Whilst Light Of The Jedi gave the reader time to breathe the opposite can be said for The Rising Storm and I think that's what made this such an enjoyable read. This book is none stop action from start to finish and absolutely intense, from people backstabbing each other, villians that don't know when to stop and suprises that even shocked me. It's all like one big massive game of chess. Whilst Light Of The Jedi introduced us to several characters and made us feel attached to the High Republic era as a whole, The Rising Storm makes you get attached to all the characters and then makes you worry for their lives every five seconds. I promise you that I'm not exaggerating. Worst is that some of those characters do indeed die. This book does not play it safe at all and shows you just how deadly the villians are. A good action or war story should build up suspense and high stakes and Rising Storm does that very well. Nobody is safe at all! Expect to be emotionally destroyed.
Finally The Multi-POV narrative. I know a lot of people don't like this aspect and that the bombardment of characters ruined but for me it had the complete opposite effect.  The High Republic writes in a multi-pov style that adds to the mystery and intense action. Through the fast pacing of chapters and sudden pov switches Scott communicates not only the danger but also the chaos of the situation. It showed the wide scale conflict of the story and how intense things get. You could be with one character fighting on the ground before you instantly cut to the chaos in the skies. And some of the pov cuts are actually necessary.  I want Fallen Star to be happy but judging on the title alone probably not so I hope Claudia keeps the similar style Cavan nailed in Rising Storm.
This was an awesome sequel and is well worth your time. I'd talk about Dislikes but I don't have any so I'm instead going to dive into spoiler territory. Once you scroll past and get to a headline called conclusion that's how you'll know you've avoided the spoiler section.
Tumblr media
Spoiler Discussion
That last sentence still haunts me, "For the first time Stellan Gios was afraid." It's a gut punch that adds further salt to the wound. The other character deaths still hurt but Loden Greatstorm's death was on a whole other level. Throughout the novel Cavan has made the reader go through several death scares to the point you think that Loden and Bell really are going to stay reunited.
The Nameless are the most terrifying and inventive villian ever made and I can't wait for the next appearance as I go through Phase 1. I didn't think it would be possible for the jedi to struggle so much when there's no Sith in The High Republic but oh boy I was wrong. These mother f*** literally can turn force users into pure dust and lure them into agonising visions. Ro unleashing them is so scary to think about. I felt super bad for Loden and the Nihil member Dis. The way it was written showed how brutal the creatures are. The Nameless make Palpatine look like a wolf. The Nameless are like burn blazing dragons. Heartbroken over Lodens death but these guys are like dope.
Finally I have to how ironic is the way Lourna, Pan Eyta and Marchion all turn on eachother and back stab. Even with a new Tempest Runner replacing Kassav in the mix those three were literally giving each other hell throughout the novel. Marchion is so cold and threatening whilst Pan is cocky, egotistical and blood thirsty. It'll be interesting to read how his character grows now he's "faked" his death and fled. Even Lourna knew staying loyal to him was a bad idea. I'm really looking forward to read how the Nihil develop and change as threats.
That's the spoiler discussion.
Conclusion
A perfect sequel to Light Of The Jedi that not only expands on the threat of the Nihil but also raises the stakes perfectly. This story is an absolute master piece and manages to work so well despite the odds stacked against it.
It's both slow and fast at the same time and a breath of fresh air when it comes to the Star Wars Books I have picked up so far. This is another Star Wars that's gonna be on Reread as frequencantly as possible.
As of phase 1 I know Cavan also wrote the audio drama Tempest Runner and I'm definitely excited for when I get to that. His writings brilliant and he absolutely has got me hooked. If I like Tempest Runner, I'll perhaps consider reading and listening to Dooku Jedi Lost as well.
High Republic is the goat and I'm loving it.

ya got anything on the idiot (lumen)
Hmm, Lumen's a curious one, there are theories out there but I'm not necessarily entire on board yet, nevertheless let's take a look at what they're about, then you can decide for yourself~!
Tumblr media
Carelessly Converging Ray of Sunshine — Lumen Celeritas
Name
Lumen's name is a bit of a weird one, it's a western name presented in Japanese order, [Family Name] [Given Name]. Thus, it is written in the original Japanese text as "Celeritas Lumen".
Their given name "lumen" is Latin for "light", and perhaps more famously the unit of luminous flux (symbol: lm), a measure of how much visible light is emitted by a source per unit of time.
Their family name "celeritas" is Latin for "speed" or "swiftness", sometimes said to be the origin of the notation c for the speed of light in a vacuum, popularised in the equation "E = mc²".
Both tie back to Lumen's ability to "take and bundle light", more on this later.
Title
Their title, Carelessly Converging Ray of Sunshine (無頓着に収束する恩光) can be largely divided into three parts:
無頓着に:Translated as "carelessly", it literally means to not care about things, to be indifferent or unconcerned.
収束する:Literally "to converge", so the translation's direct.
恩光:This one's a bit more curious. It refers to the sun's light, or light during the spring, characterised as nurturing to all life, a blessing to be grateful for.
In English, we have 恩光 translated as "ray of sunshine", "a happy person who makes others feel happy", as an approximation. This is honestly really clever, if you ask me, but I'd also like for us to keep in mind the whole "blessing/gratitude" angle, it'll come into play later.
History and Story
Lumen has seemingly been around for an incredibly long time and has apparently even helped solved a major incident in the past. Thanks to this, they're famed as one of the "Three Lights" and their heroic exploits passed down as legend to the modern day.
However, while Lumen can technically absorb both sunlight and moonlight, the latter makes them extremely agitated, violent and incapable of self-control, akin to a drunken state.
Once, they accidentally absorbed moonlight and woke up to what was once an entire village reduced into a burning field. After this event, as well as further yet unknown twists and turns, they had their power and knowledge mostly sealed.
One might then assume that this is why Lumen acts so childlike but Tenkai had heard that they were basically like this even before their powers got sealed up. Although this is a third-hand account, so maybe take it with a grain of salt.
Nevertheless, ever since the village-razing, Lumen tries their best to sleep beneath trees or within caves at night. They would from then on live their leisurely days basking in the sun during the day and sleeping in the shade during the night.
Their peaceful days would seemingly be undisturbed until the events of EMS, where they were starving from the gather clouds cutting off the sunlight from reaching them (they were too dumb to think of moving).
So they set out to flex their hero muscles once again, hoping to solve the incident... And got entirely beat up by our protagonists... oops. Losing their nerve, they went home and slept under a random tree.
Perhaps they were careless due to the extended period of shade, or perhaps they were too preoccupied by their loss, but when the sky cleared up that night, the moonlight was able to reach Lumen.
Absorbing the moonlight and going berserk, they managed to break their seal ended up unleashing an incredibly powerful spell card, "Blitz Spark".
The powerful, gigantic laser destroyed anything in its way, breaking mountains, melting the earth and even tearing a hole in the inner Mugenri Barrier.
The melted earth never settled down until the events of RMI, a whole season later, where the souls finally cooled it back down into solid rock, creating a ravine known as the Road Traveled by Light.
Tumblr media
Tenkai Zuifeng ended up being sent to clean up after Lumen, since they were in charge of the section of the barrier Lumen broke. Lumen is apparently aware of all this and even gives Tenkai their thanks for fixing the barrier.
Additionally, though we don't know by whom, Lumen was once again sealed up, even tighter than before. This seemed to dumb them down even further, leading to the state we see them in BPoHC.
Other Lumen Curiosities
Ability on Display
Lumen's ability to "take and bundle light", which allows them to physically collect the light that shines down from the sun and bundle it up, is actually seen in action in their EMS stage 3 portrait (below).
Tumblr media
Red Disc on Their Back
Related to Lumen's EMS appearance is the strange red disc they have on their back. It's doesn't seem to ever be explained and even when asked JynX only jokes that it's "Nevinyrral's Disk", a reference to a Magic: The Gathering card.
Personally, I think it's likely that this is just a part of the last seal put onto Lumen, considering that it breaks along with the talismans on their head during the extra stage (as seen below).
Tumblr media
Lumen's Seals
It's actually unknown who is in charge of keeping Lumen sealed up, if anyone at all.
At the very least, it is known that their re-sealing after EMS, which is apparently much tighter than their previous one, was not done by anyone related to the Senri Shrine, as identified by Tsugumi (which is a curious point in and of itself btw but that's for another day).
Rejected From the Afterlife?!
Curiously, Lumen has twice claimed that they've been rejected from the afterlife:
EMS - Tsubakura's Route Stage 3
Tsuba "Welp, you just do your thing and ascend to Nirvana already." Lumen "Those cast out from the cycle of reincarnation can't ascend in the first place…"
EMS - Kuroji's Route Stage 3
Lumen "Sorry, but I've been deported from the Netherworld already!"
This is honestly really strange and I'm not really sure how to even really understand these lines. Did Lumen already died once and was sent back to the land of the living? Are they literally incapable of dying? Why would this be?
Understanding aside, this is certainly possble, Yaorochi and Sukune confirm in RMI that cases like these, where someone is rejected from the cycle of reincarnation, can be found just about everywhere, so Lumen somehow being one isn't out of the question.
Theory: Origins in Christianity
Yep, we're not ending with the "Other Curiosities" section today!
There's a theory on Lumen's basis that seems to be somewhat accepted by both the Japanese and Chinese fanbases, though I'm rather on the fence about it myself.
Still, regardless of whether it turns out true or not, it does make some interesting observations, so lets take a look at it:
The key observation the theory makes, is that Lumen makes multiple references to both the traditional Japanese religions (Shinto and Buddhism) and Christianity.
There's quite a lot of these references but let's briefly go through them one by one:
Lumen and the Traditional Japanese Religions
References to Shinto, these are scattered here and there with Lumen, but they include:
The Shinto talismans on their head in EMS and plastered all over them in BPoHC
As a side note, they hilariously say things like "Are you an idiot?" (阿呆加), "Idiot Hero" (馬鹿偉人) and "Big Idiot" (弩阿房) on them.
The Shinto shimenawa rope tied around their head in BPoHC
The traditional kadomatsu new year's decoration on their head in BPoHC, which has its origins in Shinto as well.
The spell card God Card "Orbs and Lines", where "god" (神) of course uses the kanji originally used to specifically refer to Shinto kami.
References to Buddhism, these are all found in Lumen's spells:
Criminal "Cross Halo"
The Japanese word used here (後光) specifically refers to the light emanating from or behind buddhas and bodhisattvas, rather than that of Christian figures.
Taiji "Tranquil as a Breeze in Daylight, as the Moon After Rain"
This references the Chinese philosophical concept of the "Taiji" (太極), often represented as what you might recognise as the Yin Yang symbol, which had been incorporated into Chinese and subsequently Japanese Buddhism.
Sumeru "One Great Constricting Universe of One Billion Worlds"
"Sumeru" is the name of the mountain at the center of the world in Buddhist cosmology, surrounded by several concentric rings of alternating mountains and oceans which form the world.
Lumen and Christianity
The first note here is Lumen's many Christian-esque lines, stuff like:
"May light shine upon thee!"
"Ah hereby absolve ya' of yer crii~iimes!"
"May light shine upon thy skeptical heart!"
"All right, I hereby grant thee salvation! Let there be light!"
"Let me cleanse you, o stray lambs."
"Let there be light unto the darkness within you!"
They may not really be all that Christian in content, but they certainly do give off that vibe.
Another point here is their spell card background (below), which features a stained glass-like pattern, of course associated with the elaborate stained glass windows found at some Christian churches.
Tumblr media
There are also many references to the cross born by Christ in Lumen's danmaku and spell cards, including:
Their mid-boss non-spell in EMS stage 3
Shot Card "Crossfire"
Release Card "Cross Fiyah"
Criminal "Cross Halo"
Criminal "The One Burdened with the Spinning Cross"
The Theory
This curious combination of Shinto, Buddhist and Christian references lead to the theory that they're based on the Spanish Christian missionary Saint Francis Xavier.
He was the first missionary to have ever preached in Japan and realised that since the locals all believed in Buddhism, he'd have to somehow rebut its teachings yet adapt to Japanese traditions.
In one such attempt, he initially preached about the Christian God under the name "Dainichi" (大日), the Japanese version of the Buddha Vairocana, earning him welcome from the local Buddhist monks. He would later switch to "Deusu" (デウス), from the Latin and Portuguese Deus.
Francis' Latin name would hence have inspired Lumen's own Latin name, and accidental combination of Buddhism and Christianity would lead to Lumen's own seemingly confused references.
Frankly, I don't so much as disagree with the theory but am simply withholding judgement. It observations about the references to the two sides are definitely valid, at least in my opinion.
Rather, there's just not enough that we know about Lumen for me to make this judgement. Though for now I'm definitely keeping it a note in my mind.
Ending
So that finally wraps up Lumen.
It's not exactly definitive, since they're another character surrounded by mystery, despite the cheerful, lighthearted exterior but I do think it does the job fine for now.
As usual, I hope you enjoyed~! :)

"Shuichi!!" she is running, different herbs on her hands as she approaches him "Do you know if any of these are edible?" she wanted to experiment with cooking that day, but she'd rather not poison anyone. Unless it tastes really nice she might be willing to taking that risk.........
Lightly tugging along the strands of his apron to ensure that it was a tight fit , he'd smiled to himself as he tied the back end into a firm knot in order to ensure that it wouldn't come off while he busied himself in the kitchen .
Long red hair already done up in the style of a ponytail to ensure that no unsightly accidents would occur .
Washing his hands , and then starting to work on the dishes he'd planned out for the day , he'd awoken with an inkling that he might have a few extra hungry guests today coming by to visit by the look of things . So , he'd decided to make a few extra , hearty dishes just in case he and his family would have extra company today .
Starting off by cleaning some rice grains , the first thing that had come to mind had been rice bowls , inherently satisfying , and definitely on the more filling end of things . Everything from Bulgogi , to Liyue Barbeque , to Chicken Bulgogi , and even his personal favorite , Fire Chicken .
Mixed variety salads , some Bamboo Shoot Soup as appetizers , and even Almond Tofu afterwards as something on the sweeter end to finish the course .
It didn't need to be said ... he'd certainly be in the kitchen awhile but that was more than fine with him . Even if strenuous , there was a peaceful feeling being at home in one's own kitchen , being able to cook as one pleased .
As time passed , a knowing smile would come to him as he heard a familiar set of voices make their way into his home .
He was grateful to them , not just because of their actions in saving Liyue , but of the happiness that they'd been able to bring to his parents during their visits . Stories of adventure such as theirs were rare , even more so when all of Liyue's people could verify the legitimacy of their stories .
" Good afternoon , Lumine "
Greeting her with a smile as he entered with her herbs in hand . His expression changed to that of a puzzled one , thumb to his chin as he looked over what she'd brought him .
Violet grass , Qingxin , and some other herbs he didn't full recognize . Given her unofficial title in Tevyat as " The Traveler " he could only guess that she must have found some of them in rather rare parts of Liyue or beyond .
Tumblr media
" Hmm , some yes . We can add these to a bone broth soup to see what flavors they'd bring to it . Would you like to stay for awhile and join us for dinner ? We have plenty to go around , if your too busy , I can package a few meals for you to take with you if you'd like "
His immediate thought with the herbs was to try them in a bone broth soup , or to fry them . Heat tended to either purge , when boiled , or nullify some of the harmful substances taken in when eating an unknown plant . The same could be said when one washed them , which he intended to do as well if she'd allow him too .
" Those are Jueyun chilis right ? If you have a taste for spicier foods , I'd be more than happy to share my own personal recipe for honey fire chicken if you'd like . I always make a bowl whenever it gets particularly cold outside "

Any ffxv stuff on your whore mind lately?
Yeah, okay, I think I've got one
Ardyn decorating you with expensive jewelry and silk and all the other luxurious finery that you could want, dressing you up and elevating you like a goddess, taking you out and showing you off regardless of status or propriety. There's something enjoyable about going out with a lovely woman on his arm and the attention it brings. Disgust, confusion, admiration, and especially jealousy. Ardyn enjoys flaunting toys that other people want. He purposefully pushes to get a reaction from them, and it's even better if it also embarrasses you. Such games certainly make events more entertaining.
But everything has a price and as much as Ardyn enjoys your nearly angelic beauty in public, the way you seem to blossom and sparkle with confidence beneath the fancy decoration, and especially the reaction it draws from other people, he has a relentless need to ruin that which is sacred. So Ardyn takes you home and ties you up, throwing you to your knees like a common whore. He drags you forward by your oh-so carefully styled hair to mess it up and shoves his cock down your throat, fucking your mouth until your face is streaked with makeup tears and his dick is smeared with lipstick. He taunts and mocks you, makes fun of how helpless you are, asks what everybody would think if they could see you like this. At the last minute, he pulls out and cums all over your pretty jewelry and fancy dress, makes you lick him clean. When he's done, he strips you down to silken scraps and revels in the spoiled remains of luxury that litter your body. A harsh red line cutting across your neck where he pulled the necklace chain too taut, the angry indents lining your torso from the dress's corsetry, the pain of your feet and legs from wearing uncomfortable heels for too long. These things—the dress, the jewels, the expensive makeup, and especially you—are just objects. Genuine sentimentality is a relic of a man long dead, Ardyn doesn't place any inherent value on things, only acknowledging the bestowed value that he so enjoys corrupting and violating. You're a pet, a trinket, a toy, and he fucks you until the only thing you can do is beg him by name (or maybe by a title of his choosing, he does enjoy variation) and your once luminous eyes are dull. Ardyn enjoys you far more like this than anything else, pliant and humbled. His little doll to be dressed up and broken at his leisure.

Hello!!! Your Rebelcaptain Secret Santa here! *ominous version of mariah carey’s all i want for christmas plays in the distance to herald the coming holiday*
Soooo based on last week, I have to say I kicked my feet and giggled at you saying you enjoy Taylor Swift lyric titles. Because. Well…Guilty as charged. Your entire fic was inspired by one little TS lyric kind of as a joke and then it became reality. Will you guess the song? 🤔 Who knows?
But in that vein, now I HAVE to know what lyrics are Rebelcaptain-coded for you? More Taylor? Someone completely different? I’m a big fan of From Eden by Hozier, myself. The idea of the way they mirror each other *clenches fist*
Have a lovely week!
this is such a good question, and my brain is mildly vibrating right now
obviously, is it even an otp if the Song that Invented Romance™️, by the Bog Man Himself, Hozier's "Work Song," doesn't apply? i think not ("when my time comes around / lay me gently in the cold, hard earth / no grave could hold my body down, i'll crawl home to her" he climbed to reach her on a broken leg!!)
for a purely Swiftie take, definitely, one of my sleeper faves off of evermore, "long story short," which is perfect post-canon vibes: "so i dropped my sword / threw it in bushes and knocked on your door / and we live in peace but if someone comes at us / this time i'm ready" if that's not the most Jyn-coded lyric I've ever seen I don't know what is
"She Calls Me Back" by Noah Kahan also gives me massive Rebelcaptain vibes, if we wanted a glimpse into Cassian's head: "Lost for a long time / Two parallel lines / Everything's alright when / She calls me back, she calls me back"
also, maybe my favorite Rebelcaptain song, on the dearly departed but not forgotten Official Spotify Cassian Andor Playlist: "Ophelia" by the Lumineers. "oh, oh, Ophelia, you've been on my mind girl / since the flood. / oh, oh, Ophelia, heaven help the fool who falls in love."

My Nearly 7-Hour-Long Loki Playlist
I have over 100 songs on a playlist for Loki. I use Apple Music, and I would recreate and link a Spotify playlist, but the account is linked to my Facebook and I don’t want to reveal my full name so I’m not going to do that. All of these songs should probably be able to be found on Spotify, though. I pulled inspiration for this playlist from many versions of Loki from the comics, movies, show, and my fanfic characterizations, as well as the various ships I include him in (post on these forthcoming). This post will be quite long given how many songs I have on this playlist, but I will try to restrict my explanation for including the song to a few words about the pairing or version of Loki the song calls to mind or some specific lyrics that made me think of him. Also some brief spoilers for some of my fics.
“Next to Me”, Imagine Dragons: How Loki views his relationship (brotherly or romantic, you choose) with Thor.
“Two Hands,” Passenger: Post-Infinity War Loki to Thor (again, you can decide type of relationship), includes the line “Our sun is all but set,” which I titled one of my Infinity War fix-it fics as a callback to Loki’s words, “The sun will shine on us again.”
“Timber and Coal,” Passenger: soft FrostIron
“Thunder,” Imagine Dragons: Thor
“Immigrant Song,” Led Zeppelin: essentially the Thor: Ragnarok theme song
“Thunder,” Passenger: Thor
“I’ll Keep You Safe,” Sleeping at Last: Thor and Loki (The line, “Your darkness will be rewritten/Into a work of fiction” feels very Thor reassuring Loki that he can change.)
“All Through the Night,” Sleeping at Last: title of part one of my FrostIron series, Nights on the Roof
“Saturn,” Sleeping at Last: Canonically, Loki mourning Frigga. Or Loki mourning Thor in part 2 of my Visions Made of Flesh and Light series, written just after the first trailer for Infinity War, before we knew Loki dies but saw Thor floating unconscious in space.
“Pompeii,” Bastille: This is mostly from the repeated line “How am I gonna be an optimist about this?” Either my point of view, because I added this right after Endgame, when Loki bit it in Infinity War and didn’t come back. Or the series finale of Loki, after everything goes to shit.
“Icarus,” Bastille: Loki: Agent of Asgard angst of Loki burning. (They talk about this a lot and I put that into fics a lot because it’s such angsty imagery.)
“Devil’s Backbone,” The Civil Wars: Some of these songs are my opinion on Loki.
“Glory and Gore,” Lorde: I think I found this on a different Loki playlist. It just fits him.
“Poison and Wine,” The Civil Wars: Thorki
“The Last of the Real Ones,” Fall Out Boy: FrostIron
“I’ll Be Good,” Jaymes Young: Loki: Agent of Asgard (and also Journey into Mystery)
“After the Storm,” Mumford and Sons: More Loki: Agent of Asgard angst. Just this Sisyphian struggle he constantly has of trying to be good and do the right thing and rewrite who he is, and then either self-sabotaging or falling back into the box other people have made for him.
“Thistle and Weeds,” Mumford and Sons: More angst. Sometimes when I hear angst, I just think Loki.
“Gale Song,” The Lumineers: “It’s a lonely road for the tired man.” My AoA boi again.
“Long Way Home,” The Lumineers: My guess is this was also inspired by the Visions Made of Flesh and Light series.
“Gun Song,” The Lumineers: Mostly for the line “One day I pray I’ll be more than my father’s son.”
“White Lie,” The Lumineers: God of Lies
“Nobody Knows,” The Lumineers: Every year at the camp I go to, we hold a memorial for those that passed away that year, and every year on the slideshow of their pictures they play this song. So this song is just forever seared into my brain as a mourning song. At this point in playlist creation, Endgame is out but Loki is not, so Loki is still super dead and I’m mad about it.
“Second Child, Restless Child,” The Oh Hellos: Loki to a goddamn T.
“Like the Dawn,” The Oh Hellos: Thorki, hence my fic Like the Dawn.
“Her Sweet Kiss,” from The Witcher: Either Mobius about Sylvie and Loki or Theo about Amora and Loki, it could go either way.
“In Case You Don’t Live Forever,” Ben Platt: Thorki or FrostIron
“Kiss Quick,” Matt Nathanson: FrostIron, if I remember correctly.
“Ghost Town,” First Aid Kit: Thorki (“But I’ll come back to you someday.”)
“Golden Leaves,” Passenger: Thorki (“Do you remember how this first begun?/ Teeth were white and our skin was young.”)
“I Was Wrong,” The Oh Hellos: Loki showing remorse and trying to be a better person.
“Temporary Love,” Ben Platt: FrostIron (Specifically Nights on the Roof FrostIron)
“Cedar Lane,” First Aid Kit: Thorki
“If I Walk Away,” Josh Groban: Thorki
“Wait For Me,” from Hadestown: I think this was either Phantom Limb, which is my Theo/Loki fanfiction that links Where Mischief Lies to the rest of the MCU. Or I also had a FrostIron idea that didn’t go anywhere that I was temporarily calling Valhalla Heist, where Loki and Tony break out of Valhalla and fall in love along the way, so like kind of Orpheus and Eurydice a little bit. And then also the similarities between this song and “Where you go, I go,” which is the recurring vow FrostIron makes in the Nights on the Roof series.
“My Fault,” Imagine Dragons: Loki’s guilt and angst
“Bitter Water,” The Oh Hellos: “I know I shouldn’t love you, but I do.” Thorki, because incest.
“Before You Go,” Lewis Capaldi: “I hate you, I hate you, I hate you, but I was just kidding myself.” Enemies-to-Lovers. And more specifically, Thorki during Loki’s death in Infinity War, “Before you go,/ Was there something I could have said to make it all stop hurting?”
“River,” Sam Smith: Angst
“Keeping Your Head Up,” Birdy: FrostIron (Specifically Nights on the Roof, as usual)
“King of the World,” First Aid Kit: Loki’s motivation through most of his history.
“Scars,” James Bay: That point in Ragnarok when Thor and Loki part ways on Sakaar, but then Loki follows him to Asgard because they love each other (again, brotherly or romantic, doesn’t matter, it fits for either).
“Heirloom,” Sleeping at Last: The angst of having to deal with a dad like Odin, who’s a frickin’ dick. “You are so much more than your father’s son/You are so much more than what I’ve become.”
“Sandstorm,” Passenger: “Lover, oh my lover/I know I’m not easy to understand/Cover, darling take cover/For I am the sandstorm/And you are the sand.” Angsty FrostIron
“Bad Habit,” Ben Platt: Thorki
“C’est La Mort,” The Civil Wars: “Say your good-byes, but darling if you please/don’t go without me.” This is some Thor crying over Loki’s body as the ship explodes around him type of angst.
“I’m With You,” Vance Joy: FrostIron
“How Long Will I Love You,” Ellie Golding: Thorki
“I Won’t Give Up,” Jason Mraz: FrostIron
“I Never Told You,” Colbie Caillat: Thorki
“North,” Sleeping at Last: I feel like this relates to all of my ships, always, ever. It’s one of my favorite songs. But this is where the title for my FrostIron wedding fic comes from, Give Us Bread, Give Us Salt, Give Us Wine. It just has wedding vibes.
“Achilles Come Down,” Gang of Youths: Icarus-like burning vibes. Avengers-era MCU Loki or AoA Loki
“Chemicals,” Dean Lewis: Thorki
“Remember When It Rained,” Josh Groban: Thorki angst, especially with the rain imagery and Thor being the god of thunder.
“Left Behind,” from Spring Awakening: Thor mourning Loki. (And also sometimes I play around with killing off Tony. It’s never going to be canon in my FrostIron series, but I play around with hurting Loki sometimes.)
“Very Full,” Tom Hiddleston: I love this song. It’s the song he sings in Asgardian (Norwegian) on Lamentis in Loki. I wish we had the rest of the song; it’s so good.
“Everything,” Michael Buble: Thorki
“Eavesdrop,” The Civil Wars: Either FrostIron in the most recent part of my series (part 6), or Lokius once they reunite after the events that happened in the season finale. Because it starts, “I don’t want to talk right now/I just want your arms wrapped around me in this moment.”
“Hold My Girl,” George Ezra: Don’t mind me, just pretending to serenade Sylvie.
“Jump For My Love” and “Fire,” The Pointer Sisters; and “Jupiter”, from The Planets, by Gustav Holst: A while back, Tom Hiddleston did like an AMA or whatever with Tumblr. I didn’t watch it, I don’t know how you watch them, and I don’t care. But Tumblr is Tumblr, so they do “ads” where they make you see some of it. And one of the things he was asked was, “What is some music you think Loki would listen to?” And he said that Loki would either listen to something classical with like a redemptive arc, like “Jupiter” from The Planets, or he would listen to disco dance music like The Pointer Sisters (of which I grabbed “Jump For My Love” and “Fire” because I didn’t feel like listening to their entire discography). And he was right! I don’t know how he was right; it seems very unlikely that these songs fit, but he’s 100% right, and it’s insane how right he was. And “Jupiter” makes me cry every time. There’s no words, it’s completely classical, and I cry every time. Because he’s right, it’s Loki’s arc in music form, and it makes me cry.
“All I’ve Ever Known,” from Hadestown: “I was alone so long/I didn’t even know that I was lonely.” Lokius
“Hymn for N,” The Cottars: Sylvie
“Lokius,” Natalie Holt: The score from Loki.
“She Used to Be Mine,” from Waitress: Oh my God, this song is so Sylvie, it’s crazy. This song also makes me cry, because I love Sylvie and she’s perfect and this song breaks my fucking heart.
“A Long Time Ago,” First Aid Kit: Thorki
“Shotgun,” George Ezra: This song has nothing to do with anything, EXCEPT for two lyrics that make me think of my friends in the Void. And they are: “Home-grown alligator” and “time flies in the yellow and green.”
“Send Me a River,” The Cottars: Sylvie
“RAIN,” Ben Platt: Lokius
“For the Dancing and the Dreaming,” from How to Train Your Dragon 2: I’ve decided that this is a song they sing on Asgard. I wrote a ficlet (that I haven’t posted anywhere yet) of Loki from my FrostIron series singing this in Asgardian (Norwegian) to Tony.
“Vargsangen,” Johanna Grussner: This is a Scandinavian lullaby (I think) about wolves (if I remember correctly). I was trying to find a song for Loki to sing and this is one of the songs I found that I liked, but ultimately went with the above song for the ficlet instead.
“Light,” Sleeping at Last: Thorki (“May these words be the first to find your ears/The world is brighter than the sun, now that you’re here.” The sun will shine on us again, essentially.)
“The One,” Kodaline: Lokius, namely from Choose Me.
“Dark Moon,” Bonnie Guitar and “If You Love Me (Really Love Me),” Brenda Lee: two songs played in Loki.
“Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart,” from Ella Enchanted (I know this is a cover, but this is the one on the playlist): FrostIron
“Paradise,” George Ezra: Lokius
“So Will I,” Ben Platt: FrostIron, namely Nights on the Roof
“Love Will Find a Way,” from Lion King 2: Either FrostIron during part 6 of Nights on the Roof or Lokius after the season finale of Loki.
“I’m Still Here,” from Treasure Planet: AoA Loki and Loki (“And how can the world want me to change?/ They’re the ones that stay the same.” “They can’t tell me who to be/ ‘Cause I’m not what they see.”)
“Won’t Look Back,” Josh Groban: Nights on the Roof FrostIron
“Where Do I Go From Here?” from Pocahontas 2: AoA Loki and Loki
“If I Say I Love You,” Mumford and Sons: Lokius
“Ten Thousand Miles,” Altan: Thorki, especially Loki trying to get back to Thor after being killed by Thanos
“You Are Enough,” Sleeping At Last: Lokius, a la “You can be whoever, whatever you wanna be, even someone good. Just in case anyone ever told you any different.” Could also be me, slapping the shit out of Loki, being like “Get your head out of your ass. You are worthy.”
“Carry You,” The Native Sibling: Lokius
“Half a Man,” Dean Lewis: angst
“Overcome,” from Cyrano: Thorki, probably
“Break My Heart Again,” Finneas: Anything angsty is Loki related
“All These Things That I’ve Done,” The Killers: “Last call for sin/While everyone’s lost, the battle is won/With all these things that I’ve done.” More angst, honestly.
“Sweet Child O’ Mine,” Guns N’ Roses: He’s not even in this movie, and I’m so mad about it, but the theme song for Thor: Love and Thunder.
“Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked,” Cage the Elephant: Again, another song I found on another Loki playlist, but very Loki.
“True Love,” P!nk: Okay, listen. This is exactly how I feel about Loki. “Sometimes I hate every stupid word you say/ Sometimes I wanna slap you in your whole face/ There’s no one quite like you/ You push all my buttons down/ I know life would suck without you./ At the same time I wanna hug you/ I wanna wrap my hands around your neck/ You’re an asshole, but I love you/ You make me so mad I ask myself/ Why I’m still here, oh, where could I go/ You’re the only love I’ve ever known/ But I hate you, I really hate you/ So much I think it must be true love.” All of the lyrics are relevant. Loki is a dick and I love him.
“Come What May,” from Moulin Rouge: “Never knew I could feel like this/ Like I’ve never seen the sky before/ I want to vanish inside your kiss/ Everyday I love you more and more.” Is it thorki? Yes. Is it FrostIron? Yes. Is it lokius? Yes. Is it Cloudki? Probably. (If you don’t recognize that one, stay tuned; I’m planning a ships post soon.)
“Rat A Tat,” Fall Out Boy: Just Loki vibes. Also, “If my love is a weapon.” Love is a dagger, anyone?
“Victorious,” Panic! At the Disco: Vibes again, I think, sorry.
“After the Gold Rush,” k.d. lang: I think the last verse was giving me Ragnarok and beginning of Infinity War vibes.
“I Was an Island,” John-Allison Weiss: Lokius or FrostIron
“Allies or Enemies,” The Crane Wives: Thorki
“Easier,” The Crane Wives: Loki at the end of Defenders: Beyond (It’s a very long explanation, I would just say to read Al Ewing’s Loki arc, AoA and DB and then you’ll get why this fits at the end.)
“October,” The Crane Wives: Lokius
“Let Me Fall,” Josh Groban: End of AoA Loki in his moment of Ego-Death (“Someone I am is waiting for courage/The one I want, the one I will become will catch me.” “Though the phoenix may or may not rise.”)
“Caleb Trask,” The Crane Wives: “So you’ve got bad in your blood/ Brother, you’re one of us/ So you’ve got bad in your blood/ How long you gonna wait for those azaleas to bud?” Just Loki.
“I Am My Own Muse,” Fall Out Boy: Loki vibes, and also the line, “Let’s twist the knife again.” Love is a dagger.
“Beloved,” Mumford and Sons: Lokius
“All Things Shall Be Peace,” from Were the World Mine: “Take comfort, he no more shall see my face/Whom I do love and will do till my death.” Lokius from Loki’s perspective in the finale (though I think we’re going to get the original Mobius back very soon).
“Unwritten,” Natasha Beddingfield: Sylvie just killed He Who Remains, and the Sacred Timeline has gone up to a point. And now what happens beyond it is anyone’s guess. “The rest is still unwritten.”

Finally got the motivation to do this! Makanendez oneshot (probably unless requested for more) coming through your way!
Title: "Cigarettes and War."
Trope//Prompt: Rivals to lovers(?)
Characters: Vladimir Makarov/Raul Menendez
I actually wrote about this in my notebook a bit ago, may take some bits from that. First time writing a fic on Tumblr! (Also, forgive me if Menendez or Makarov is a bit or ENTIRELY OOC, I still need to watch through a good majority of BO2 and get used to writing Mak :'') )
Also, he has a room of his own that's nicely protected, but not in the beginning of this fic >:)
Menendez woke up, and strangely, it wasn't to the sight of the light shining through his window in the early morning. In fact, he instead woke up to darkness. The only light luminating his room was from the moon outside. This wasn't normal. He never woke up this late in the night. He doesn't even know what time it is, but considering how groggy he feels, he knows it hasn't been 2 hours since he slept.
He knew something was off. And he knew that off feeling he had wasn't good. He looked out the window of his room and wondered what woke him up, perhaps the noise of a bird hitting the glass of his window woke him up? That can't be, that'd be stupid. Though he has heard that you could wake up if someone you don't know is around you. He sighed and groaned, staring up at his ceiling for a moment before slowly getting up from his bed, unsure on what to do.
It was then that he smelled the scent of smoke. The type of smoke you get from cigarettes. It was the scent of freshly lit cigarettes, and he could see the smoke from outside on his balcony through the window. Someone was on his balcony. But how can that be? His home was strongly protected, how could his men let someone climb up? Unless, that someone took down his men. Shit, so someone is on his balcony, and the men who were protecting his home were dead. Just great.
He sighed once more in annoyance. "Could've came here in the morning, when I'm not trying to sleep," he angrily grumbled as he looked in his drawer and grabbed his pistol which he prepared if a situation like this were to ever happen. He checked the magazine and luckily it was fully reloaded.
He slowly stood up from his bed and sneakily went to his balcony door which was closed. He braced himself and slowly opened the door and quickly rushed in and pointed the gun at where he thought the intruder would be. "You have to be more sneakier than this, I could see the smoke from inside."
He thought it was some stranger that decided to try and kill him, or an American soldier who thought it was great to have a smoke break right outside of his room, but since he was still mostly groggy, he didn't realize it was someone he fought with for a long time.
"Menendez.. It's been such a while since we've met. When was it, on the battlefield?"
He took a moment to process who he was talking to, and his eyes widened as he realized who it was. It was his enemy, his rival. They weren't exactly enemies but they weren't allies either, they talked through radios and phones a lot for enemies, but most conversations were full of insults, threats and a sprinkle of anger.
"..Makarov?- Vladimir Makarov.. What is someone like you doing here?!-" He kept his guard up as the russian warcriminal in front of him smoked a bit more before dropping the cigarette bud and crushing it under his shoe. "I came here, to you, to ask you something. And also," he looks down below from the balcony and under them laid the bodies of his men and also a rope that hung down and was hooked to the edge of said balcony. "I knocked out your men to get up here, was really easy."
"Not surprised someone like you could take them out easily, and I heard you want to ask something. Ask, or in ten seconds you're dead!" Menendez commanded, his gun still up and pointed towards Makarov. The other stayed calm and leaned against the railing, as he looked out to the view. "I feel like we should, stop fighting. I've heard of what your little army is fighting for, you want revenge for what they've done, to you, and to your sister." Menendez's brows furrowed, he was easily losing his patience. "Get on with it, don't try to delay your fate."
"I'm not, Raul! What I want to say is.. I want to help you. I want to help you grow your army, make your plan known to the world and get others to help you, either willingly or not." Makarov then turned to Menendez, his back leaned against the railing as his green and blue eyes shone lightly as it reflected the moonlight.
Menendez was surprised, he didn't know if it was the pleasant type or not. He couldn't believe him, not yet. "How can I believe you? You could be trying to kill me!" Makarov's expression looked a little upset when he said that. "Please trust me. You've heard of my work, haven't you? I can do you wonders.." Makarov said, silently panicking inside since it looks like Menendez is tired of his shit.
Menendez thought for a bit before then putting his pistol down to show that he doesn't wish to be aggressive. He was then proposed with a choice, to recruit Makarov into his army or to not. He can kill him right now and there. He then made a final choice, to recruit Makarov. "Fine, but you will only be helping me. Anything funny and you're dead, you hear me?" Makarov smiled softly, seemed like he was pretty happy.
"So, can I stay here? I'm too tired to go back."
"Of course you are, and there's a guest bedroom downstairs, just sleep in there for now I guess.." Menendez went back into his room as Makarov followed behind him to go downstairs from his room. "So, goodnight? I'll see you in the morning and hope that none of your men come in and kill me in my sleep." Makarov simply left his room and closed the door, now Menendez was alone again. He sighed and flopped onto his bed and curled up in his blanket. "..How the fuck did I even get here, how did this happen." He asked himself, just tired of everything. He quickly dozed off, questioning how he's going to explain to Cordis Die in the morning.
A/N : I'm sorry if this is pretty short, I kinda lost the motivation close to the end. I hope you like this though! May write more in the future.
