Let's talk Threads
Recently I've been cutting back my time with the blue bird. It's a combination of factors for me, I even cancelled my blue subscription since the only thing it's really good for for me is longer posts and half of the time the edit feature doesn't work or show up even when it's within the suggested timeframe to edit a post.
Obviously, I'd be looking for an alternative. I saw someone post about Threads, I have an instagram, it made sense to try it.
Fair warning about Threads if you're thinking of trying it, the only way to fully get rid of your Threads is to delete your posts on Threads and your Instagram. It's not necessarily a separate platform, it's more of an offshoot of Instagram, hence the only way to fully delete your account being to delete your Instagram.
So far though, I'm enjoying it. While people are saying it's like a clone of the bird app, it's not really. It's more like an odd combo of the blue bird and discord. There's no tags to search, you can only search for other users. The feed is very much everyone talking at once. It does show you posts from people you follow, so the more you follow that are on there, I'd assume it would drown out the random posts.
The vibe is very much like a mix of throwing a message in a bottle out to sea and hoping someone finds it, and yelling in an already loud and crowded room. In a weird way though, it's kind of fun because of that.
It's mostly about interaction, which is definitely something I feel the bird app lacks. It doesn't feel like posting to a void. I know what I post will be seen by others. I'm not worrying about the numbers, I can just post and not worry about much. It feels more casual in a way there and I dig it.

So on Twitter you would tweet a post. A string of tweets was a thread. And if you were doing it live, it was just live-tweeting an event.
On Threads I propose you "stitch" together a post. And a string of stitches could still be a thread BUT live-posting would be knitting.

The Future of Threads
In the first seven hours, Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram, has declared war on Twitter with their new app, Threads. This event has captured the attention of social media users due to its fascinating, exciting, and somewhat terrifying nature. The question arises: Does Threads have a chance of becoming mainstream? someone on a podcast i listen to said most comedy tiktoks have funny concepts but go on for so long they become unfunny. i can't unsee it now, the timing really does matter so much. and i don't want to romanticize the vine days because all we're left with now are compilations of the Most Iconic Vines which isn't the full picture, but on the other hand. they really are so iconic. watching a really good vine compilation truly makes me appreciate the power of editing, distillation, of the punch, of the snappiness,

The fact that now there is an zuckerburg version of twitter only proves that there should be a elon version of meta.
And whoever wins in the brawl gets to keep their social medias.
The loser has to reveal their secrets to the world, zuckerberg being an alien, elon being a robot
