I wish the world and especially schools had more acceptance for all kinds of people and more respect for everyone's individuality. I wish adults modeled that for us kids to learn the same. I do have some good memories too (will probably write about them in another post). I'm very grateful to know some people I met in school. They have been genuinely kind and loving to me. 🌼 I'll miss the building, I'll miss the routine. School had become a habit, and habits are hard to do away with. But a major part of my memories of school are the ones that I didn't deserve. But they’ll always remain with me. #thoughtsinwords Es gibt Orte auf der Welt, die mich umhauen. Orte, die mich durch ihre Schönheit faszinieren. Orte, die erklären, warum ich so reisesüchtig bin. Ich bewundere sie, sauge ihre Magie auf, gehe weiter und besuche sie nie wieder. Und dann gibt es Orte, die mich nicht nur umhauen, sondern mein Herz berühren – ganz, ganz tief. Koh Tao ist so ein Ort. Ich hatte nie vor, hierher zu kommen, und als ich es tat, wollte ich nur für eine Woche bleiben, vielleicht zwei. Ein Flug zum nächsten Ziel, Kambodscha, war bereits gebucht. Ich konnte mir schon vorstellen, wie ich den ersten Sonnenstrahl am Ankor Wat einfangen würde und… nun, ich war mir nicht sicher, was mich sonst erwartet hätte - in jedem Fall eine weitere gute Zeit. Doch sobald ich meinen Fuß auf diese winzige Insel setzte, wusste ich bereits, dass sie andere Pläne für mich hatte. Irgendwie ahnte ich es schon am ersten Tag meiner Ankunft, war jedoch noch völlig unwissend, was sie tatsächlich für mich bereithielt. Ohne mir dessen überhaupt bewusst gewesen zu sein, dass ich die halbe Zeit meine Luft angehalten hatte, konnte ich plötzlich frei ausatmen. Hier musste ich keine wichtigen Entscheidungen treffen, tapfer oder mutig sein, nichts und niemand trieb mich. Eingewickelt in meinem Sarong saß ich barfuß in der Bar, mit meinem kalten Bier in der Hand, unter mir das rauschende Meer und hörte einfach nur der Band zu, die an diesem Tag spielte. Ich war hier, nur hier und hörte zu. Und das tue ich seit jeher. Ich höre zu - der Musik, dem Meer und vor allem meinem Bauchgefühl. Das mir sagt, gerade jetzt und hier genau da zu sein, wo ich sein soll. Auf Koh Tao - eine winzige Insel, die schon längst ein kleiner weiterer Fleck Zuhause auf der Welt für mich geworden ist. Und so wurde aus „einer Woche, vielleicht zwei“ bereits ein ganzer Monat. Und Ankor Wat…muss ganz einfach noch ein bisschen auf mich warten. My Thoughts on.. №16: History. It's the one thing we have to learn from. It's the only evidence there is as for how certain actions and events can or will turn out. It also is impossible to rewrite, no matter how much and how many people have tried. History itself doesn't change. Discoveries about it, how it's being perceived, and the lessons we take from it will change, all the time. Let's not get stuck in the past, and let's not try to erase it also. All I can see are
