welcome the the fourteenth fic rec friday! where, on friday, i rec five of my favourite fics.

1. tell me again, do you love me? by @hiuythn

If it were anybody else, Lance would think they’re messing with him for fun.

But Keith is Keith, straight-forward and guileless. If he’s touching Lance more, it’s only because he’s gotten more comfortable. And on one hand, that’s great, that’s—Lance feels very honored. His heart is doing backflips and aerial stunts and everything. On the other, this is really not helping with his raging crush.

His breaking point turns out to be when Keith, exhausted after a day of subspace meetings, drops his head onto Lance’s shoulder and sighs.

It’s a sigh that says, now I’m comfortable, that admits, I’m recharging, that practically screams, you help.

Hands in his pockets, he lets Lance bear his weight as if he trusts Lance to handle it. Great. That’s just—how dare he. How dare he be so vulnerable with Lance? Who does that?

It’s so enraging that Lance just blurts out, “I’m going to need you to stop doing this before I fall in love with you even more, asshole.”

Keith freezes. - Or, five times Lance acknowledges his feelings for Keith and one time Keith reciprocates.

okay hiuythn is literally one of if not my favourite klance artist to ever cross this fandom. she is, as she has titled herself, the total queen of best friends to lovers. she nails it every time. this fic in particular is somehow exactly what the description says and also not what you expect. i have read this fic dozens of times, i read it every time i really want to smile with my whole heart. this fic is cute and sweet and funny and GOD i love it

2. ‘CAUSE EVERY TIME WE TOUCH I GET THIS FEELING by @hiuythn

“It is a blessing,” the high priest warbles. God, he’s so old that Lance is afraid he’ll just expire on the spot. “From our God of Celibacy, to aid you in your fight to keep your bodies free of worldly taint.”

“Okay,” says Lance. “Only we didn’t ask for it. We asked for your planet’s support in a war.”

Beside him, Keith is staring at his bare hand, expression stormy.

Earlier, he had placed it on Lance’s exposed wrist and something like an electric shock had ripped through them at the touch.

“You should’ve told us that participating in your religious ceremony would do this to us,” he says now, a growl under his words.

The high priest falters in his tracks, confused by their lack of gratitude.

Yeah, fuck you, man. Don’t go around giving people spiritual STDs.

yall are gonna get a lot of hiuythn today. and ur gonna like it. bc yet another thing she nails is the black paladin keith red paladin lance dynamic!! theyre so stupid and codependent. i love them. this whole fic is just the funniest premise alive, and no fic makes me laugh like a hiuythn fic. oh and also quick warning that this fic IS explicit, but i encourage u to give it a try even if thats not ur thing bc i guarantee you will be laughing

Keith gives Lance a nickname. Lance mistakenly assumes that it’s an insult.

god i love this one. the idea of keith being so whipped that he doesn’t even realise that hes slipping out the fondest nickname in the world every time he speaks...god. i love him. hes so dorky and soft i adore them liek actually

Keith is touch-starved to the point of stupidity. Lance helps. Lance tries to help. Lance tries.

the description alone should have yall clicking the fic fr. its so cute, and yet again the best friends to lovers and black paladin keith/red paladin lance has been completely nailed like i cannot get enough. i would gobble up a thousand fics every single day by her honestly

5. i killed sendak for this by @hiuythn

“I’m married?” Keith blinks. “I’m married to you?”

i actually read this one years ago, before any of the other fics came out for me to obsess over, and i loved it then too!! so sweet and dorky and funny. also flustered down bad keith and flirty suave lance is always a peak dynamic actually

movies & shows

cracks knuckles* alright this is going to be more of a rant than an analysis because i’m basing this on both my research, but also how it felt to personally be baited by these shows. there are obviously more pieces of bad (almost every horror movie) and good ones but these are the ones i’ve watched.

please keep in mind that i am but one queer and everyone has different opinions.

Supernatural (CW) 2005

This show is 15 years old and just ended. From season 5 till 15, there has been tension between two of the lead characters. They were constantly shipped together and not only did the entire fandom know about this ship but so did almost all of Tumblr. On top of that, the actors and show runners knew about it as well. Which is why it makes it ridiculous that it was constantly pushed aside while the romantic coding  kept happening, even after show runners dismissed it as being intentional. The Destiel (Dean x Cas) case has been going on for years, and as the show came to its end, many fans had hope. But N O P E. Instead, we got a love confession from Cas where Dean looked like he was near constipated and the Cas was killed and sent into a fiery place that was not hell but s u p e r  h e l l.

Sherlock (BBC) 2010

Just like Supernatural, this show was renown on Tumblr for not only how good it was, but its hinting at a potential relationship between Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. But again, like Supernatural, the intentional tension between the two characters was denied by producers. This caused an uproar within the fandom, and even left some people believing that, after the last season aired, it had been a joke and the producers were hiding a “secret, unaired season” because they had felt so robbed by this show that had implied something and denied it.

The 100 (CW) 2014

We got lesbians. We got background gays. We were happy. Then, all of a sudden, one of them is killed for no reason. Did it advance the plot? No. Was she fighting and died in battle? lol no. She was doing literally nothing and got shot and died. And then the producers kept bringing her back once a season in the form of a ghost or illusion because why? Because she was a fan favourite queer character. ✨bury your gays and sparingly bring them back for profit anyone?✨

Voltron: Legendary Defender (Netflix) 2016

*deep breathe* This one is a special disaster. Not only was there romantic tension and romantically coded scenes for 7 seasons, but producers, voice actors and artists working on the show repeatedly said “don’t worry klance (Keith x Lance) shippers, you’ll be happy”

. … w h e r e??? You code one of their scenes with a sunset in the background while they talk about love and then one of them goes on a date with someone who has declined his advances for 7 seasons but now in season 8 decides to do a full 180. Not only that, but you announce at a Comic Con (a convention) that a character is gay and has a fiancé, only to kill off the fiancé and never make it explicit in the show except at the last second of the last episode where he marries a no name character. 

Personally, i’d like to say a big fuck you to the show that strung me along for 2 years and never stopped saying we’d be happy to then pull the rug out from under us and call us crazy for thinking anything from the past 8 seasons was intentional.

Scooby-Doo (2002) 

While not being outwardly queerbaiting, this movie’s filmmaker has just revealed some shocking news, which wasn’t at all shocking to the gays who had watched this movie over the years. In July of 2020, James Gunn, the filmmaker of Scooby-Doo, revealed in a podcast that, initially, Velma was explicitly gay in his script, but then the studio watered it down until it became nothing. This isn’t an example of baiting as much as it is changing a character’s initial design to “better fit an audience”. The worst part of all this is that with Velma’s character having been written with a l i t t l e queer subtext, people had been theorizing about if since the movie came out, but were always yelled at by the internet for “imagining something that isn’t there”. But now, even with it being said that the initial point was for her to be gay, people have no objections to still refusing to accept it. Why?? So we can’t get the subtext gays OR the confirmed gays?? Make it make sense.

Brooklyn 99 (NBC) 2013

To have the queer characters firstly introduced without mentioning their sexualities and have it brought up naturally was so goddamn nice to see, because no one does a big deal about it unless they ask for that. This show is amazing in general but the way they show their queer characters is *chefs kiss*.

She-ra and the Princesses of Power (Netflix) 2018

This. Show. My heart SOARS. It's just a remake of an old show so absolutely nothing was ever expected, but then it was sprinkled in and ENDED WITH A BANG. And it was so beautiful and real to see the struggle of two friends who care for each other and want to be together but have different visions of the world fall in love. And they also had characters with disabilities, a non-binary character and jUST SUCH A GOOD SHOW.

Kipo and The Age of Wonderbeasts (Netflix) 2020

This is a case where you go into it not expecting anything and are BLOWN AWAY by the bare minimum. And not because it’s bad!! It's mind blowing because this is the simple representation we need!! Not something over the top, but an every day relationship. It’s just two boys falling in love and going on dates and being nervous around each other, yet i was so stunned. Because it’s not shown enough. I should not be this excited over something that should be this normal. 10/10 though this show is so good for all kinds of representation.

Steven Universe (Cartoon Network) 2013

This show did so much for queer representation with its general message of loving everyone and loving who you want. Especially since it was aired on Cartoon Network, a channel for kids, it was able to help normalize something so looked down upon in some circles. It made it easy to watch for s o m e people because it's a cartoon but it's so beautiful to see these ladies so in love with each other, both platonically and romantically and we see them have a family dynamic that isn’t a “nuclear family”. Rebecca Sugar (creator) really said “lemme just break all stereotypes real quick”.

Adventure Time (Cartoon Network) 2010

It's the “knowing a fanbase shipped something so hard that the creators made it canon” for me. This relationship had been theorized by fans for years, but it had never been explicit in the show. When the finale episode came out and the two shared a kiss, it was a moment of celebration. The producer of the show said that it had not really been planned but when the episode was being made, the choice of what happened was given to one of the artists (bless your soul Hanna K. Nyströmthe). And as the show releases little bonus episodes, its latest was centered around Marceline and Bubblegum and their relationship. AND WE LOVE TO SEE OUR DOMESTIC LESBIANS BEING HAPPY AND IN LOVE.

Yuri on Ice!!! (anime) 2016

The fact that an A N I M E gave us a love story between two men is mind boggling and it makes me so happy!! Especially because it's a Japanese show and they’re very conservative about these things just makes it more emotional. The creators said they wanted to make the anime take place in a world where gay/straight isn’t a thing, it’s just love (ladies, you’re going to make me cry). So as the weekly episodes came out and fans start speculating, THEY GAVE US THE LAST FEW EPISODES FULL OF ROMANCE AND EMOTIONAL SCENES BETWEEN THE TWO AND THEN THEY GET R I N GS?!???!! You watch for the figure skating, you stay for the figure skaters that are in love.

Shadowhunters (Freeform) 2016

*insert me being frustrated that the actors are straight so we can move on from that disappointment*

This show really said “let’s name a whole episode after this couple because they deserve it”. But seriously, they gave us two characters whose entire plot does not center around their sexualities while still showing us the differences in a relationship between someone experienced and someone new at this. They were both powerful and amazing characters apart from each other, with their own story lines and goals but they loved each other so much omgs. SO MUCH. 

It was so great to watch.

Love, Simon (2018) 

There’s a lot of disagreement on whether this movie is good representation or not. However, we need to take into consideration that this was Hollywood’s first movie with a main character that was gay, where the story’s focus was on Simon’s love story. The biggest problem, for me at least, was that the actor playing Simon is a straight man and not queer. My problem is not with him, but the fact that there are other actors that are gay and that could have played Simon just as well. (the love interested was however played by a queer actor so ✨progress✨)

All in all, this movie does represent what a lot of queer kids have to go through: being outed at school, how they then come out, the bullying and doubt they go through.

The book is also really good.

Call Me By Your Name (2018)

This movie is so aesthetically pleasing and was able to capture the confusion and heartbreak felt by a boy who’s struggling with his own feelings towards a man. His inner conflict and joy and l o v e he feels but doesn’t know how to deal with is so well communicated through the screen and just breaks your heart because it feels so real.

But again, they could’ve gotten gay actors to play gay characters…

through having this list here, i want to show you that it’s not hard for creators to give good queer representation. the LGBTQ+ community isn’t asking for much, we just want to be well represented on screen as just a regular character, not some token queer kid there for the diversity points. having been exposed to so much queerbaiting and just not seeing any representation on screen, i always get over-excited when i see a queer character, and that’s not how it should be. it should be a normal thing, something you can find in most pieces of media, just like there’s a straight white cisgender person in everything.

and they seriously need to start casting queer actors for queer characters...

VLD rewatch s3e3

- this ep was intense

- Hunk is correct, attacking is a terrible idea

- (I'm about to talk about how great k+l's dynamic is) Voltron woulda fallen apart without Lance -- Keith, while very good at fighting and battle strategy, is terrible with people, and being good with people is kind of an important part of being a leader. Lance is usually good at people-ing -- he's not afraid to be front-and-center and will divert the attention when needed (ex: s1e1, when they are being scolded by Iverson and Lance makes Pidge stop talking while diverting Iverson's (negative) attention to himself; s3e1, when he diverts the (positive) attention to the BOM by forcing the people of Puig (is this name right?) to acknowledge that the BOM played a gigantic part in their liberation), not to mention he's usually good at reading the room in terms of people-needs -- and, while he's also very good at fighting, he has a very hard time staying focused on the objectives, which is usually what makes people not take him seriously. Keith and Lance are the perfect mixture of that when they can work together -- they balance each other's weaknesses perfectly

- i love that lance was, like, 100% pro supporting keith as a leader, and then keef decided that he was gonna be impulsive and he's like "ig we're back to antagonizing mullet-head", and ykw? I don't blame him, because keef is being a piece of shit

- u accepted to be the leader, keith, stop being a piece of crap -- there's a big fucking difference between leadership divergence and straight-up neglecting your team

- dam, i kinda love that both keith and allura are in denial here (and lance isn't)

- yes, it all comes back to lance, i love the boy, ok

- the best part about this is that we all knew they were doomed from the moment keith left the castle

- lance recognizes that lotor is playing them against each other in, like, 2 mins and I stan

- lance is just making commentary whenever keith does a fuck up

- dam, blue is taking a beating here, poor girl

- omg, and then keith listens to lance

- the image of the lions' eyes glowing through the fog legit reminded me of my cat lool

- ok ok ok, so I'm one of those people who got stuck on "omg why didn't they let us have an offish description for the qualities in the blue lion's paladin" but, in a way, they did give it to us when they had allura say "i've tried asking you nicely, and i've tried commanding you (...) I can't control everything" and that's when blue responds to her. Because, really, that's what describes lance, isn't it? He goes with the flow and that's when he's at his best.

- also, i'm super bitter that they never used the "allura having to put herself in lance's place" thing again, that could've been a huge point for allurance and to show that (as the showrunners think) lance wasn't a rebound, allura had something growing before.

hey tay, i just wanted to put it out there that literally every. single. piece of klance you write has always felt just like keith and lance. i know we should probably not listen to anons but what that last anon sent you literally hurt me too bc your keith and lance are the MOST in character i have ever seen in this fandom, i’ve become so attached to them and (this is the lad anon from before btw) but like i said before reading your klance was like the first time i ever actually saw the boys being portrayed as they really are 🥺 i feel the need to also say that majority of this fandom’s perception of keith and lance are very warped, to put it lightly. yours always 100% feels authentic and true to our boys. i just wish you knew how your klance is literally the only reason why im still in this fandom, and why i bare it lol. it’s all for you and your writing (and your art), tay. all for you. hope that anon doesn’t get to you — you’ve made so many people happy with your dead on keith and lance portrayals, me included! sending you lots of love 💖💖💖

*stares at the ten used-to-be-mcyttwt users I follow who consistently trash on mcytwt because their mental health was ruined by it, the biweekly awful shit the majority of them do, and the culture they've built around misinformation and performative activism* yes. Mcytblr is the problem.

No but seriously /nm :] I would like to say though that a lot of what you're saying is very untrue, because as a long-time tumblr who went on mcytwt just scrolling through normal profiles and coming out in tears half an hour later, it's a really awful site with really angry people. They might not mean to be, but they are. I have plenty of blogs that I personally disagree with or dislike but none of them have ever been as horrid (especially to CC's) as mcyttwt's average user.

i definitely don’t think that mcytblr is the issue, but it is one of them.

i 100% get where you’re coming from, twitter is exhausting for me too and i’m gonna take a break from it soon. twitter is a toxic place, but tumblr is too and i’m tired of people pretending like they’re superior based on whatever social media they main. i don’t think the average twitter user is horrible, but i think a lot of them want attention and to be in the spotlight just for a bit so they’ll create issues out of nothing. 

i’m not trying to vilify either side, but tumblr has problems too. i’ve been here for almost five years and no matter how much we call it a hellsite and act like we’re aware of it’s issues, we ignore the most important ones and chose to be blissfully unaware under the false reality of combating it.

tumblr is often performative, but twitter is worse about it, with people dogging on you for not retweeting a petition that you didn’t know existed and then swapping between saying techno didn’t make any offensive jokes to dm-ing him death threats depending on what account they're on. 

but, most people on twitter are teenagers and are just trying their best to be as un-cancelable as possible, but by doing that they’re not being real people and so opening themselves up to people calling them performative (which some very much are, im not denying that). 

i have dm-ed someone all night before because they were getting canceled for a tweet that could be interpreted as homophobic. the tweet said something along the lines of “my irl came out to me today, lol i could never” and they got over a thousand quote retweets telling them to deactivate and that their favorite streamers (phil and ranboo) would hate them.

they were bisexual but weren’t able to come out due to being in an unsafe situation and you could've found that out by scrolling on their page for a minute, but people wanted someone to be mad at instead of learning the truth.

they were also fourteen and asking me, someone they didn’t know, for advice all night because they didn’t know what to do, as someone they trusted started taking dms from out of context and spinning them to be transphobic and racist. i saw the dms and with context, they were so innocent it hurt.

twitter is a toxic bad place no matter how we spin it, but i’m tired of people vilifying everyone on there. it’s like saying every klance shipper from 2016 was the devil; a minority of people were bad, but the badness started to infect others out of wanting a community and to not be targetted by the bad ones.

i don’t know where I'm going from this, but i definitely don’t think mcytblr is the main issue. i think people like feeling superior and so they make fun of other communities even when the majority of the community are not as bad as they make them out to be.

@a-stitch-in-timey-wimey - PROBABLY MY BEST FRIEND ON HERE, SHE'S SO BEAUTIFUL AND SO FUNNY AND I CAN TELL HER LITERALLY ANYTHING. She's such a babe, I met her through one of my posts I made agesssss ago (yeah that’s right, she’s and OG) where I was like "like and reblog this post if you like any of these fandoms and I'll dm you" and our friendship grew from there!! We both love Voltron, Klance and pasta and one of our first interactions and inside jokes was when she told me when she dropped toothpaste down her sock lol cause how do you even manage to do that (do you even remember that jess???) and idk it’s just such a fond memory even though it’s so random. I fucking live for when she rants/tells me stories on snapchat, I was actually watching one of her ‘storytime’ vids that she sent me and like 5 minutes into her story (when we were getting the climax!!) my phone died and now I’m stuck on this cliffhanger until my phone recharges (so imma write all this while I wait lol). She also didn’t murder me when I broke our 105 day streak (I”M SORRY) in fact she wasn’t even mad!! If that’s not the sign of a true goddess I don’t know what is! ALSO, she's SUPER pretty and inspired me to cut my hair, I'd been think about cutting my hair short(er) for a while and after she cut hers and I saw how pretty she looked, I thought I must do it I must be like Jess. I love her so much from the bottom of my heart and I'm so glad that we're friends <3

@galacticpandasstuff - JADEEEEEE MY SWEET BBY I HOPE YOU GET SOME SLEEP. I always love my deep chats with Jade, we've been mutuals for a while but didn't start talking until recently, we often talk in the afternoon for me and when it's like 4am for her. She def needs to sleep more but we all still love her anyway! Despite her not sleeping that much, she’s still drop dead gorgeous and handles tough situations like a fucking champ wtf, I wish I was even just half as strong as her. I’m very proud that my networking skills have really risen up to the challenge and have paid off because and I’ve connected Jade to a couple of my mutuals and they all love her nearly as much as I do!! She's always so kind to me and I'm sure she'll be kind to you too, she has a relatively small blog and it definitely should be bigger so highkey recommend giving her a follow and maybe even a dm too because she's v nice!!

@repetitive-tautology - JAMES OMG WHAT A FUNNY GUY HE’S AND ACTUAL LAD OMG. I actually love James so much and despite me always feeling inferior to his Top Notch (TM) wittiness and intellect, we manage to have an excellent friendship. We also met through that post I made (about liking certain fandoms and then I would dm you!!) but we never really ended up talking about any of the fandoms lol, our conversation (and friendship!!) just immediately took off. I absolutely love his blog and he's such a funny guy, I've met a lot of great mutuals and friends from him (vague crusade!!!). We unfortunately don’t talk as much as we used to (I’M SORRY BUT DISCORD REALLY SCARES ME, OKAY) and I hope that after this post is... posted it’ll prompt us to talk again! He's one of the actual OG's of my blog and played a vital role in my pasta brand becoming a thing! He also came up with funky spaghet and sinful noodle (if you remember those names lol). Anyway, if you're looking for a laugh, definitely hit him up and follow his blog!!

@raging-chaotic-bisexual - DFGHJKLLKJHGFDSDFGH SOHIE AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY!! Half of our interactions are are sdfghjkjgfd I love *insert something* so much dfghjhgfdedfgh. Yep, we use keysmashes arguably too much but I literally don’t even care. I can talk to Sophie about whatever I’m excited and no matter what the subject is, she’ll match my enthusiasm and that’s one of my favourite things about her. She’s excellent if you wanna talk about literally whatever you want and I feel as if she’d be an amazing hype woman. (also another one of my Australian bby’s!!)

@hudusello - Dakota is the motorbike bitch (well, more cars now lol) and a future lesbian biker gang member. I always feel hella stupid talking to Dakota cause shes got a shit ton of knowledge on pretty much all mechanical vehicles and before we met I knew approximately zero (0) things about cars and stuff and despite feeling like the inside of my skull feeling as empty as the middle of a balloon, I love learning all this cool new stuff that she teaches me! I love having a good old chat no matter the subject and Dakota is such an OG on my blog. Despite having lots of different interests, I’m really glad that we bonded over a few things that we have in common (like she-ra and minecraft!! [WHICH I WILL REDOWNLOAD SOON AHHHHH]) cause I really enjoy talking. So definitely follow Dakota cause once again, a relatively small blog and also great for a fun chat if you like cars and/or are willing to learn about them 

@carry-on-wayward-birbs - I LOVE THIS DUDE OML WE ALWAYS CHAT ABOUT WHERE THEY’RE UP TO ON BROOKLYN NINE-NINE CAUSE THEY’RE SUPER BEHIND BUT I LOVE HEARING THEIR REACTIONS TO EVERYTHING LOL. Even though our chats are almost strictly b99 related, we do get personal sometimes and I’m very glad that we can balance out our good and bad experiences in our friendship and help and support each other but also get so fucking pumped over brooklyn nine nine too. You’re an ace-mazing legend that we all stan, I’m very glad we starting interacting, my only regret is that we didn’t start sooner!! 100% recommend Alex’s blog if you’re Ausralian cause they’ve got some top notch Australian content (They’re posting about the election rn lol) but even if you’re not Australian, you can still enjoy their posts cause they’ve got a bunch of funny stuff on there (including funny fandom stuff!! @ihateitwhenyourejustvague - ABSOLOUTELY WONDERFUL AND BRITISH. Peppa pig wishes she was vague. Our vague crusade champion queen, all hail vague. I have a lot of things to say so it’s all under the cut

First of all, wow. What a finale. What a fucking finale, man...

I’m warning you now this is not a nice rant so if you really love Voltron and don’t like seeing other people hate on it do not read this lol

Let me be honest, Voltron really isn’t that great of a show. I’ve pretty much stayed here watching the new seasons out of obligation and my love for the characters. Even then the writers still fucked that up so I’m stealing them all and they’re mine now. I’m not even sorry.

Voltron has always been a really tough show to keep track of and follow along with;; I never really know what’s going on and they introduce characters and planets so quickly that I forget about them right away and there’s like maybe 3 that are really memorable. So honestly the whole series has just seemed like an EXCESSIVE amount of filler that nobody needed. Even starting season 8 I had no fucking idea what was going on because the end of season 7 was just THAT unmemorable lmao. And they brought back so many characters I was like “Who the FUCK are you??” And it just made it ten times more confusing.

There was just so much unnecessary content we didn’t need in there. In season 8 they fought Honerva in her giant robot for like three or four episodes straight and that got really tiring really fast. Honestly most of s8 was just robot fights and I’m like “Are they writing a meaningful story or just 7 billion eye candy action sequences” TAKE THE TIME TO DEVELOP YOUR CHARACTERS, UNIVERSE, AND PLOT MORE INSTEAD OF DEDICATING 15 OUT OF 20 MINUTES OF SCREENTIME TO ROBOT FIGHTS THANKS. There are SO many plot holes and questions left unanswered that we’ll never get answered so that’s fantastic. Not to mention all of those fights were so fucking repetitive I got so bored watching the same thing happen over and over again. Voltron always wins, what’s fucking new?

Also man jesus christ they fucked over their characters SO MUCH. I’ll get into Allura last but let’s go down the list, shall we?

Lance was reduced to not only the comic relief but the super boring love interest. His relationship with Allura felt so forced and unnatural and there was no chemistry between them whatsoever. It was almost as if the writers were like “We need something for Lance to do in season 8” and then they decided “Let’s just make him a foil for Allura and make him her boyfriend!!” Like it was SO unnecessary and I’m sorry to any Allu//ance shippers out there but I felt so uncomfortable watching their romantic interactions. And I’m not SUPPOSED to feel that way. I actually did ship them until I watched this season but now I’m just really put off by it because WOW they wrote that romance horribly. I know people hate comparing Voltron to ATLA but take Sokka/Suki for example. Their dynamic is very similar to Lance and Allura’s and it’s a PERFECT example of what a good healthy relationship is like that isn’t forced or super awkward. If the writers had written their relationship like Sokka and Suki’s I’m sure I would like it SO much more! I was so upset to see Lance lose pretty much ALL of his development and be reduced to just a foil or a background character they could beat up on and use for fodder about Allura’s death. So fucking uncool. On top of that Lance became a FARMER?? REALLY?? He had dreams of becoming a famous pilot and yeah a war will do shit to you but I CANNOT imagine him living that sort of boring life it’s just not Lance at all!! So immensely out of character and not what he deserved. Lance deserved a real, true happy ending kicking ass in space and being in love with someone who really loved him back.

And Shiro—god, they fucking abused the shit out of him and treated him like a punching bag. Not to mention the awful queer baiting with Adam and then, to rectify their awful mistake, the writers made it so that he got married at the end of the series. Great. I don’t even know who the other guy is. Congrats Shiro, but it really doesn’t mean fucking shit if it was added on last minute and seems like a way to appease fans rather than to actually give Shiro a good ending. They could have brought Adam back and let Shiro marry him but nope!! They fucked that up too

Also all character development for Hunk went down the drain and he was also reduced to comic relief. He didn’t end up with Shay like I was hoping and just god so much racism I’m too irritated to even get into that

Keith and Pidge were the only ones who really got semi-decent endings and even still they were written badly too. (Doesn’t mean I’m not proud of them tho, good kids.)

And Allura.

FUCK. THE WRITERS.

They absolutely did not need to kill her off like that it was so pointless and utterly stupid that I’m sitting here rolling my eyes into the back of my head. They literally killed her for dramatic effect and that’s it. Yeah whatever she saved the fucking universe but they could’ve done that another way! That’s just lazy ass writing and it really offended a lot of people including myself so yeah! Not happy about that! It’s really racist and also pretty misogynist too?? Also Allura during the last season was not my favorite character at all she was written so terribly and out of character that I just ended up hating her and she deserves so much better than this absolute fucking bullshit

If they wanted to have a good final season, they should have kept Allura alive, given everyone actual GOOD character development, not threw in a super forced and uncomfortable relationship, and gave the characters proper happy endings with the people they SHOULD have ended up with. Not that romance is that big of a deal since Voltron isn’t about that but man they could have satisfied so many fans doing that but they just took the show and spit on it

So yeah I’ve had a really great experience being part of the fandom and creating content, and there’s definitely some good parts to the show. Voltron is a bad show lmao but I still had fun, and I’m still gonna make content that the fans actually deserve and want—and forget canon even exists. I’m salty and disappointed but I’m not surprised. Even so the show did end on as good as a note as it could have considering the circumstances and while I’m not 100% satisfied it was what I was expecting so. I’m like, iffy about how I feel towards the finale.

Anyway Klance is canon king, Adam and Shiro are married, Hunk is a universally famous chef with his gf Shay, Allura and Romelle are the new Altean Queens, Pidge is fucking amazing being herself and everyone’s happy the end

Ok I’m am TERRIBLE at responding to asks so I have made one of these answer-all-at-once so I won’t spam people’s dashes. I have tried to make it as comprehensible as possible without actually making a table of contents. Which I almost did. Because that’s 100% how I am.

Being called Anti

Answer: I have expressed that I am uncomfortable with turning that one scene into something romantic aaaand I have called shippers pretentious assholes before that in another situation (when they were bashing on other ships and calling themselves the only valid ship) whoops. Though to be fair I have never once said anything negative to anyone or tagged it with ship names. I answered to one post about the scene in question because there was several people both ignoring the context and spreading untruths to support their own perspective and because the original meaning was very important to me, I had a panic-attack. I regret it and I already regretted it 20 minutes later. Not much I can do about it. So yeah no, I don’t like it and I am uncomfortable with it being inserted into canon but I don’t give a shit as long as it doesn’t harm anyone. I got a couple messages calling me an anti and acting like I was “pretending” not to be one but honestly? These are the exact same people that if they were on the other side of the fight would scream pedo. They latch onto a word with majorly negative connotations and toss it anyone they doesn’t agree with. All ships got their assholes. Klance and Shieth just happens to be the biggest ships and they have the most belief their ships will absolutely be canon, so they have the most of those assholes I am not an anti, and that can be proved by if nothing else that antis are just as pissed off by me lol

My Thoughts On Season 7 In A Rush

I’m tired. I’m emotionally and physically tired. I pulled an all nighter and I rarely do those. Anyways this season left me mixed. There were MANY and I mean MANY moments when I was smiling my ass off and just really happy. There were also multiple times I was bawling my eyes out. Really emotional season that’s for sure. I’ve been seeing some posts going around with how they’re upset on the advertisement of the show and marketing and such. Frankly I agree. Now I would’ve been fine if klance didn’t become canon, i’m alright with that I always got fanfic and others to give me the OTP moments i wanted, but are they really doing this? Are they gonna sell the quiznak out of possible klance only to have allurance and kexca become legit? I love me some good romance whether it’s straight or gay but the way they’re doing these it’s just feels weak and wrong tbh. I get that it was an action packed season and that was really cool but I would’ve liked to see some more moments or sit down and think about them moments to help me get on board with the ship. I’m afraid i’m not buying Keith being straight, he’s 100% gay to me. Lance being Bi is pretty legit too although if it doesn’t show up at all i’ll be peeved but i won’t being blowing my house up or anything. Here’s how I allurance might end up it’s either going to continue being shy and maybe feelings towards a confession and kiss or whatever or it’s gonna be Allura likes him and is intrigued in the idea and wants to be with him but Lance got closer to keith to maybe not have an interest anymore. Who knows anymore, the vld crew could pull anything by now. I really liked the bonding they had going on this season and while i’m saddened that the show looks to be turning away from klance i’ll still support it. Another thing, ADAM. Now I wasn’t going crazy about shiro being gay and with adam, but i was definitely happy that Shiro had someone there and could be happy and it was just the most perfect closing for him. No they couldn’t do that, they kill adam off when they were so close to reuniting. I’m aware their romance was recently added and not that flushed out but if they weren’t going to interact much and he was gonna die why give it so much hype? vld crew upset many with this and i was just excited to see them reunite and possibly have a cute scene between them. THEY WERE GOING TO GET MARRIED, AND THIS HAPPENS. I wanted more of them tbh that’s all. All the family reunitings were beautiful and I loved them. There was a lot of good Keith this season and I liked the idea of the paladins going mad and seeing things and such, it added another level of stress and fear  and they could’ve done so much more with that in my opinion. I liked how a bunch of older stuff got brought back in and had the loose strings tied up. Gosh so many amazing and funny moments. SO MANY HEARTWRENCHING SCENES AGH. I LOVED COLLEEN SO MUCH.everybody was great this season and i think i really like Hunk a lot more now. We got to see the paladins messages to the families and just GAH SO GOOD. I’m curious to see what season 8 will bring. I have no clue what could be the main drive for the newest plot other than perhaps taking out haggar. That last mech guy who showed up though. It seemed so random i said out loud “are you serious?”. The atlas was really cool too. I’ll possibly make a list of all the pros and cons but i literally just finished the entirety of season 7 and these are just my jumbled thoughts. In the end I really liked this season and was upset a few times but i’ll live. I wish that if Klance doesn’t become canon that they’d stop baiting so much. I won’t accept deep down that Keith is straight and Hunk is more beloved than before. Season 8 better be damn good and finish what the crew started that’s for sure. Also i want more Lance and Keith bonding plz, doesn’t have to be romantic but i want one to comfort the other or something like the Hunk and Keith scene (LOVED THAT). Alright sorry for this and it’s almost 8:30 am so i’m going to sleep now. Thoughts on s6~

Putting it all under a cut because I can’t not talk in lengthy paragraphs. Feel free to shoot an ask/message if you want to talk about s6, too

Ok wowie, good season. There were noticable weak points, but I’ll address those along the way. First let’s talk about the 

Plot

It was good. It was surprisingly good. The hidden altean thing where they bold faced put that Lotor was responsible for hundreds or thousands of deaths teeters way out of kids’ show territory. They were not fucking around with that. The fact that they made it clear that the plot was not just paladins vs Galra (esp with Lotor wanting to do away with the Galra), but more along the lines of paladins vs lotor vs generals vs sendak vs so on and so forth makes it not just more complex, but stacks the odds against voltron and adds good suspense. Clone shiro was incredible. It was everything i’ve been waiting for. 

The fight scenes, inside and outside voltron (cough cough KeithvsKuron) were breathtaking. Everything about Krolia was very well put together. THE ANIMATION WAS BREATHTAKING. 

On that note (and dipping into characterization a little bit), they kinda layed it on thick with Lotor romanticizing Allura. He was too goody goody and it made the betrayal lose a little impact (aside from the whole mass murderer thing). there’s a difference between that and foreshadowing. 

Idk why the huge timeskip with Keith and Krolia stuck on that mission bugged me a little, but it did. A timeskip makes sense and is a cool tool to use for the fam to get to catch up, but it just felt. Strange. Two years is a long ass time. Keith was completely unaffected seeing the team again. One could argue that this was bc of the mission, or Krolia teaching Keith how to be a member of the blade and have Super Mission Focus, but still, for Keith to have that much almost-off camera development and not be at least startled to see voltron again was weird. I love my mom to pieces but two years alone with her and eventually I’d go a little nuts.

Characterization

That last point brings me right into characterization, and unfortunately this one is gonna be a little more on the critical side. For the most part, characterization/character focus was well balanced this season. But there were some Moments.

Everyone on team voltron developed, and it was arguably best executed this season than any other. We got to see some great Coran moments, where he really felt like a member of the team. Hunk having a no-nonsense teacher, even just for like 15 minutes lol did him good in terms of communicating with their new allies. Hunk is a people-person, and it shows very well. His camera time wasn’t 100% food related all the time, in fact, barely ever. Bravo.

Pidge of course got her own arc, but it was still a GREAT moment when she admitted to having the coding on Shiro’s arm uploaded and on hand just in case. It was CHILLING when she made eye contact with Kuron before he took off. This is, imo, how Dreamworks should’ve handled other characters who didn’t quite have the spotlight in previous seasons. Not a whole lot of moments, but when they were there, they had impact. I hope they continue to do this.

Do I even need a section for Keith? Holy shit. My boi finally accepting his role as Black Paladin and so much more. :’) I won’t elaborate because c’mon, it was in part, a Keith-centric season

Same for Allura. She really is the heart of Voltron. We got to see a lot of sides of her. 

Lotor being a psycho bitch but still having genuine feelings for Allura?? good shit

LANCEY LANCE. Bless him, Dreamworks is doing their best. In terms of his relationship with Allura, seeing him going from meaningless flirting to serious heart to hearts and a team player was fantastic. BUT I have some grievances, here we go.

Lance got a mini-arc and it was great, and he very clearly grows and changes, this is great! However, regardless of ships, seeing it centric to a romantic relationship, and basically being a rebound for Allura was ahhhhhhehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh eh. 

Pidge and Hunk teasing Lance about his crush was normal, and them pretending to be Lotor and Allura was adorable and hilarious, but Lance was really hurting and when they didn’t stop and just walked out, I???? What. That, to me, is out of character. Hella out of character. Lance is their friend, and they should be?? Friendly??? I was mad @ them

Finally, as much as I love broganes and the great arc they had, they’ve had a tremendous amount of camera time. We’re well away that they’re practically inseparable. What I really wanted to see was the whole team being involved with finding out about Operation Kuron. With Lance seeing Real Shiro in the astral plane, I was really on board with him pulling aside Keith when he came back and be like “ey dude I saw some fucked shit”, and them rescuing Shiro together was a theory I was personally super into. Was kind of disappointment that we didn’t see the relationship between Shiro and the other team members deepen a little more.

First of all, daaaaaaamn that Allurance.

I’ve shipped allurance for a while now, more casually than other ships, so to see Lance change and mature and support Allura while Allura started to show that she really values Lance meant a lot to me. It’s good to see Lance grow up a little. For everything that they were this season, forced was most certainly not one of them. Their relationship felt organic.

However, it was not without flaws. I can’t help but feel like Lance was treated like a rebound, and was almost too? supportive??, and it was telling when Allura was talking with the mice, upon them snITCHIN ON LANCE DAMN MICE, she frowned sadly. I have to wonder if she actually returns his romantic feelings. And I do like the ship a lot, casually and aesthetically. But at the end of the day, what I was hoping to see was a really solid friendship. I think from here they don’t need to be straight up romantic. Their relationship is no doubt one of the strongest in the show, but I think it would be an incredible writing path to keep their friendship, because allurance has been hinted since episode one, and I think it’s almost?? Too easy for the writers to turn it romantic. I think Allura and Lance are a great team and very compatible for friends, but uhhhh read on.

I’ll just address the elephant in the room and come clean, yeahhhhh I like klance and yeeeaaahhhhh I would have really liked to see some more content this season, so sue me lmao. 

If I’m gonna be really blunt about my feelings, I feel like klance is a fantastic direction for Dreamworks to take. I feel like it would be good writing to make klance endgame. Why? Because it’s the path of least resistance. That’s why so many people like it. Keith and Lance were so salty at the beginning, but the crew made an effort to show that in moments that were particularily tough, they have loads of potential and can be very good for each other, romantically or platonically. It’d be harder to write, it’d take time, but I think it’s a worthwhile pairing. And there are definitely some moments that are super disruptic to both Keith and Lance’s development when they, Lance especially, straight up regress in their development and fight for no reason. I think it’s unfair, and it almost always makes me go “wait I thought they were starting to get along better??”. Now that Allurance is a thing, I’ve stated in another post that, because it would be strange for Lance to have two romantic arcs, it’s pretty unlikely that klance will actually happen. Do I think they teased us? Yeah. Do I think they straight up qbaited us? Not really. In the end, my biggest hope is that they continue to develop Keith and Lance’s friendship and don’t abandon the really strong potential they have together. Don’t let them regress, Dreamworks.

I’m not gonna address she/th (or tag it, because who goes into the tag looking for someone to say IM NOT A FAN OF XYZ JUST THOUGHT U SHOULD KNOW) too much because I’m personally not a fan. There’s so much about their relationship associated with “brothers”, and Keith looking up to Shiro that it just doesn’t rub me right in terms of romance. I had to wonder if they aged Keith up two years to justify possible future she/th?? if it happens I’ll be bummed, and I think the random aging up is kind of a cop out, but hey, it’s their show.

RIP Lotura. I stopped shipping it and figured out Lotor was a hoe after his third Dramatic ‘Let’s Bring the Universe Together’ Speech to appeal to Allura’s sense of duty. It’s a shame tho, I was really digging it at the end of season 5

Hidden Klance moments pt.1

So, we all are disappointed for the lack of promised content in this new season. They promised us LGBT representation, ‘project kuron’ explanation, diplomat hunk, team bonding, Lance falling in love ecc and we got almost nothing. I honestly enjoyed the season anyway, partly because i know i can’t expect so much in six 25-minutes-long episodes from a family show, mostly because I loved Pidge’s arch, Matt is finally found, Lotor is such a complex and enjoyable character, Lance and Allura interaction at the very end .... I can go on, I swear. 

But let’s talk about Keith and Lance. Since i love my boy Lance so much, I observed him really closely, and since I’m a complete slut for Klance because pf the relationship development between him and Keith in season 3, I decided to look for some hint that could possibly lead us to think that there is really something going on between the two (even if it’s just friendship). 

It’ actually longer than I espected so I’m going to hide the following part!

We know that the two didn’t get a real interaction, but I am sure that the authors didn’t really forget about them.  Maybe this is just wishful thinking, but the information disclosed about them at the panel, really are a game changer.  So there must be something going on somewhere. 

Let’s start with Lance:

I don’t know about you but during the first and the third episode (which are the only one where he interacts directely or indirectely with Keith) he seemed to be very depressed. He was often portraied with two little bag under his eyes.

Like this. All those occation, I noticed, involved Keith. At the beginning, I thought it was just to make him look angrier, in fact he is talking about his absence during the parade (srry I couldn’t find a subbed version bcs Netflix doesn,’t broadcast Voltron in my country).  But the bags never appeared on noone else. 

Look at this photo of Pidge. The expression is the same, but she doesn’t look so tired. She is angry at Keith as well, she is litterally saying: “Keith is gone!”, althought we can’t read concern on her face. 

I’m positive we can say that Lance is both mad and concerned for Keith. Of course he is mad because he recognize Keith as their new leader so it hurts seeing him neglecting his former team, Voltron. But he is also concerned about Keith because he knows how much he is suffering and struggling to be the leader. The mixture of these two emotions is making Lance pretty sad.  

This screenshot really hurts.  I’m sure noone in the team really blames Keith for his behaviour (not even Allura, who is always the most reluctant about him because of his heritage), but Lance is the only one that seem to be trying and undertand him. So why didn’t we get a real explicit prove of this fact? During the last season Lance really tried to talk with Keith and show him how worthy to be the leader he was. But now that Shiro appeared again, Keith is too fragile and unsecure, and Lance knows that whatever he says or demontrates to Keith would be useless. We also know that he is not so full of self esteem, and I am sure that he think that he can’t stand a chance to Shiro, when it comes to Keith. That’s why he can’t try and fisically stop Keith from taking bad decision, or can’t lecture him like Shiro or Allura do.

I think this is the frame that proves my point the best. This was the point in the episode when everything turns out right: Keith is forgiven by his team and they allow him to take part of that long mission with the bom, now that shiro is finally able to fly the black lion again.  Let’s focus on the team’s different reactions:

Hunk/Coran/Pidge: for the sake of comedy they are ugly crying. They care about Keith and obviously don’t want him to part, but their character never shared something different or more special with Keith if not companionship. That’s why their reaction is the most obvious and uniportant ( speaking of this matter).

Allura: she looks genuinely pleased with Keith decision, and I know she is. she also speaks of how proud is of Keith ( space mum confirmed). I honestly think in this season the relatinship between them hits a turning point. Matter of fact she is the only one that tries to lecture Keith, in a positive way (not to scold him like shiro seems to do). 

Shiro: I don’t know about you but he seems the happiest about the decision. That startled me bacause I honestly thought that he would have been the hardest to convince. I don’t think is coincidence that he agrees to Keith parting just right after he can fly the black lion. I think I will analyse deeper about his character in another post because there is something about him I can’t really put my finger on. 

Lance: Lance, my boy, light of my days.... why do you look like a kicked puppy trying to deny the fact that he is in pain??? 

You’re not fooling anyone trying to lighten the mood.... “who am I gonna make fun of?”.... I can see the bag under your eyes, AGAIN. I don’t think he wants Keith to join that mission. I think he partly feel guilty because he had stolen red from Keith.  He is not just going to miss Keith like everyone else .He can feel Keith hidden sadness and concern, and that’s how author decided to show this fact. They BONDED, of course they share feelings!! I can’t use photoshop but I am sure that if I could erase those bags, he would have totally looked 100% happier. Those signs had been porpusely drawn. 

That’s all for episode one. Let’s talk about episode 3. 

I know there is not a proper direct or indirect interaction, but my delusional ass wanted to read in Lance’s behaviour something more. 

This is the episode of the iconic “milking moment” (can it be considered as a pun ??? how funny of me,,,). I noticed something was off with Lance. He literally locked himself in a dark room playing a video game he didn’t really wanted to buy this much (it was Pidge who insisted to find the money in the fontain in order to afford the game). 

I am not a gamer, but I don’t think it’s healty to bury yourself in a dark room, sit on a unconfortable metal floor and play until you hate yourself. Perhaps is super normal, but it’s defenitely not Lance. We know how much this boy likes to spoil himself. But we also know how much he can be self-destructive (not literally! I’m not talking about the suicidal/self-armer fanon Lance), in an “emotional” way. Let’s be honest, I think of himself like a seven wheel and struggle to find a place in the team. Actually it’s seems normal for someone like him to engage unhalty activity.I know this analisy seems kinda rushed, but what’s coming it’s suspicious as well: 

Coran and Allura asked him for help to get the milkshake. ALLURA asked him something. ALLURA, HIS CRUSH, CONSIDERED HIM THE RIGHT PERSON FOR A JOB. Let’s be real here. He would have been head over heels for something like that. At least he would have tried to flirt with her. We both know he never loose a chance to brag about himself. Normal Lance would have positively pulled off some pick up line like: “Everything for you, my princess. You know what they say about me? that my milkshake brings all the girl to the the yard.” That would have been gold (expecially altean reaction). BUT NO. Lance seems quite annoyed by the request honestely. And we know what that means. He is still not over the fact that Keith left. 

I’m sure that’s enough material for one post. I’m not really used to analyse character, and i know that we can’t pretend to be right about our judgement. But if this can help to reconsider some aspects of fourth season, that would be awsome!

I’m going to analyse Keith second, god bless, that he had 1 min and a half screentime so it won’t be an hard job lol 

here are my thoughts on the bullshit under the cut cuz it's gonna get long probs i assure you it’s a reassuring post:

ok so the interview itself wasn't bad to me honestly. jeremy did not deny the bi!lance hint, which was the most important thing to know. the fact that he said "that much i can say" implies that there's something left to know that he can't say because nda.

i'm gonna list a positive thing and a negative thing here: the negative one is that on one hand, it pisses me off that lgbt characters are treated as such a big spoilery deal when it should just....feel so natural to have them in a show. also thinking back that dreamworks tagged certain videos as klance just for views...well it's kind of a coward move if they don't at least end the show with lgbt rep. on the other, i really don't see the point with going all "no comment" about it if it weren't to happen?? that would be very assholey, and i know that the writers are not to be trusted, but the mere fact that they lie so much over things than then ended up being canon (e.g: galra keith, paladin allura, pidge being a girl etc) can't help but make me think they are pretty much hiding the endgame couple on purpose. you could argue they could be hinting at allurance which i'm not excluding bc some of the things could be honestly interpreted that way and also they never mention them ever as a couple except i remember like kimberly saying that allura isn't interested in lance (but she could be lying obviously) and jeremy here stating that lance has still a crush on her which is pretty evident and there's nothing new. (we also learned, according to him, that lance basically can dish it out but he can't take it which frankly...i can see pretty well as canon)

on that spectrum, pls note that this happening (or lance ending up with a girl for the matter) doesn't absolutely excludes bi!lance like at all. he can still be confirmed as bi and end up with a girl and that itself would still be very important! one thing doesn't exclude the other honestly so i say very confidently that lance being bi will be confirmed. like 100% convinced that it will. (do not forget lauren's drawing where lance is holding the lgbt sign, there's a specific reason he's the one holding that)

also does anybody think that....this stress over lance liking ladies and stuff is kinda....suspicious?? like jeremy himself was used to say "lol he flirts with anybody on two legs ahha" and now today all of a sudden he's putting a lot of stress on the ""woman"" part. which kind of threw me off? i might be reaching obviously, but mmm you know? and all of this comes after joaquim said "what he's looking for is getting to a place that might be different than when he started in the series" and “what he wants might not be what he needs” and if math isn't an opinion, he started the series always wanting allura so if what he wants is now changing..........................

it is also true that lauren used female pronouns in that interview and while that could be an indicator that lance will end up with a girl, it's also not set in stone bc.... they used to hide pidge's pronouns the same way and if lauren had said "him" you know that keith would have suddenly come to mind bc??? he's legit the only person lance has been paired up so much with. they've been sort of a duo ever since the beginning. and they've had most of the couple tropes out of all the possible pairings??? in the show??? allow me to list some. I'm too lazy to back this up with pics but like you know the scenes i'm talking about (and i also say this because when i ship something i ALWAYS look at canon interactions. and they have a lot):

the bonding moment (or the we are a good team scene if you will), which is not only visually very romantic (the purple lightning aka their two primary colors mixed together) but its sort of the turning point of their relationship and it's something that's very much used with couples especially with couples with their dynamic because oh lord!!!!!! do you know how many heterosexual couples exist with a dynamic like theirs? broody boy meets friendly girl and they're total opposites but ops they fall in love?? bitch literally every goddamn YA novel is like this. anyways, you know that scene would be considered romantic if it was between a boy and a girl, and indeed, allurance sort of paralleled that scene in s4 so if you consider that as romantic but not this one....well....buddy,,,,,,,they're basically in the same lions keith and lance were aka the fire and ice dynamic and if you can see that as romantic with a/l you should be able to see it the same way with....k/l but i digress).

as i was saying, the bonding moment is the turning point of keith and lance's relationship. after that we get:

1) an episode where keith is super anxious to have lance out of a pod and gets jealous when he sees lance flirting with allura, reminds him of their "bonding moment" and gets offended that lance doesnt remember (and an entire discussion could be open as to why he was so offended and the vlog kinda sets that up), overall the flirty banter that we're used to (not to mention this is the famous infamous bi flag planet)

2) a solo mission where they're shown to be working extremely well with each other (like classic battle couple duo scenes)

onto other tropes:

the subtle jealousy that can be interpreted both ways

THE ELEVATOR SCENE which is such a common trope for main couples!! they usually get stuck and have a moment of clarification or something like that. keith and lance's was a lot more comedic but it did lead them to collaborate in battle 2 seconds after so.... it did have an impact like those scenes usually do. (also that scene wasn’t necessary for the plot at all and yet...)

Lance making that fond face while talking about Keith that, may I remember you, was animated purposely to be that way. and overall there's a lot of subtle things like lance being constantly worried over keith in season 2 even though they didn't have much dynamic development??

the hey man scene? the fact that everybody was looking at lance EXPECTING HIM TO DO SOMETHING. and he could have easily looked back at them like "why me???" BUT NOPE, he was ready to go to comfort him!!!!!!!!

i get so worked up over the fact that so many of their scenes can be paralleled with other scenes as the story goes bc LETS BE FUCKING REAL FOR A GODDAM SECOND: they're the only pairing who started a way and are ending up in another. because they've had the most coherent development as a pairing in the seasons and we're fucking halfway through the show and when you also remember that it's pretty clear that lance wants to falls in love and that it's a ""slow burn""" kind of deal,,,,how in the fuck,,,,can it be other than klance??? literally nO OTHER PAIRING had a development since the goddamn start i’m not even saying this with my biased ass i’m saying this objectively speaking!!!!

all of season 3 could be a huge romantic trope honestly but like 2 scenes in particular strike as very romantic:

the leave the math to pidge scene obviously (the way it is framed is very tropey lmfao) and the way we see keith through lance's eyes.......pretty gay if you ask me

and the i got you buddy scene which someone made notice that AN EXACT SAME SCENE happens in the wonder woman movie but with a boy/girl pairing ofc. BUT IT'S THE SAME FUCKING SCENE THAT'S LIKE ROMANTIC TROPE 101 I AINT PLAYING

add on the fact that keith might have left team voltron to make sure lance had a place and boom. pretty romantic to me.

even if jeremy sees them as brothers....which is like...super fucking odd to me bc....he never mentioned this before almost like he's backtracking lololol, his opinion isn't...you know...canon. (and like lbr they never acted like brothers in the show??? and the creators never addressed them as such unlike...you know what) i like jeremy jokes and meme as much as the next guy but i'm a realist and i know that he doesn't really ship klance or anything he just knows how to spoiler the good stuff lolz but also he didn't say anything wrong like it's just how he sees it but the creators never said so (lauren montgomery called lance keith's stability don't forget that) and overall there are wayyyy too many hints to not believe that's its gonna be canon. like......it even makes sense with the overall story better than any other pairing?? because it's pretty plausible that lance had a crush on keith at the garrison that tried to mask with the rivalry. the way he acts and the way he tries to always get his attention furtherly proves that. it's a common thing to do when you have a crush lmao.

LIKE THOSE TWO ARE ALWAYS PAIRED UP EVEN IN THE FUCKING SEASON 2 POSTER?? LIKE THEY COULD HAVE GONE WITH KEITH IN THE MARMORA OUTFIT SINCE IT WAS A BIG PART OF THE SEASON BUT NO??? THEY PUT HIM IN THE SWIM TRUNKS WITH LANCE FOR THOSE 2 MINUTES OF SCENE THEY HAD TOGETHER?????

ok that's it keep on hoping and remember that klance not happening doesn't mean that also bi lance won't because those two things aren’t mutually exclusive ok? but also don't lose hope on klance itself especially if it's something that makes you happy because fandom is meant to be a distraction and klance is an healthy lgbt ship that deserves all the attention it gets and it’s groundbreaking from so many aspects and it being canon would be amazing. bye

hi i'm sorry for the upcoming rant- i'm in this gc with all these lance lovers lol but they are so??? closed minded??? like they're always sending things complaining about shaladin, or even kidge. and this one time they were yelling about an artist bc they had keith as deadpool and not lance and i'm sitting over here like,,,,a mega multishipper,,,,,not wanting to lose my friends over this but also i hate seeing them complain about even Bex bc she still ships sheith after the ages were released..

I wish I could give you a perfect solution, but the thing with antis is that they have this…group mentality, almost a mob mentality. 

i know many antis (or at least people who weren’t fond of shklance initially) read thihv and came out of it with a changed perspective, so it is possible to change people’s minds. but it’s very difficult to change an entire group’s minds, especially when that group has become so quick to anger and attack others. there’s no black and white here, each side believes they’re the good guys, but it’s painful to see all the unnecessary hurt that is caused in this fandom. i mean, actual csa survivors have been hurt in this fandom, idk how anyone can justify invalidating someone’s irl trauma over cartoon character ships that aren’t even canon. It’s 100% fine to be uncomfortable with shaladin ships but that doesn’t mean go after others for doing so…and on the topic of that, I believe Bex said she doesn’t actually ship any shaladin ships and the sheith stuff was a joke. but ofc she’s still demonized for it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

all i can tell you is that if they’re really truly your friends they will understand, and i hate to say that but i feel it’s the best advice i can give you, if you were looking for advice. that thing about deadpool made me snort tho. i love lance as much as the next guy but there are so many lance stan antis/klance shippers and you know they’d probably get upset if lance was deadpool but was also ugly and covered in cancer scars/tumors like, y’know, he’s canonically supposed to be. K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

Teru and Dimple from Mob Psycho 100, I went from hating them at the beginning of the season to loving them by the end. In my opinion, from what I’ve read at least since I haven’t read all the manga, all the PokeSpe characters have amazing character development. Katsuki Bakugou from BNHA has good character development in my opinion as well because even if it’s slow, it’s realistic development. 

L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves. (Characters you’re neutral about are fair game, as are characters you merely dislike. Kouda from BNHA deserves more love. Such a sweet boy. He’s never done anything wrong in his life. Loves animals, has a pet bunny, terrified of bugs. He’s freaking adorable and he deserves more love.

All the BNHA girls would be amazing friends. Kirishima and Tokoyami would be really good friends to have as well, I think

I wish I saw more content for rarepairs in BNHA particularly f/f ships but that’s just because I’m a slut for BNHA f/f rarepairs. Other than that, nothing really?? The fandom’s pretty good, like everyone is really nice I’ve met and there’s so many good artists and writers. Same with most of my fandoms tbh 

O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?

My sister is playing Hamilton and it’s making me think of musicals so let’s go with Freeze Your Brain from Heathers and Tododeku because for some reason I can see a Heathers Tododeku AU?

Ahh let’s see…Random headcanons…Ok let’s just go with I have headcanon sexualities for all of BNHA Class 1A, and I headcanon Jirou as bi but leans towards girls and ace.

 All of Class 1A is super close, and they have a group chat. Fight me on this. There’s no way not one person in the class was like hey lets make a group chat for everyone. Also Kaminari spams it with memes. (The girls probably have a separate one too lol) 

U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.

Let’s see…I really love Reigen from Mob Psycho 100 because he’s hilarious and such a great character. Kido from Kagerou Days because she’s really cool and sweet and I love her. Ahh if I have to choose Momo from BNHA because she’s really nice and smart, and I just really like her character and quirk but also Iida because I really love him too, he’s really funny and sweet

That’s tough…I have a lot of characters I kinda relate to rip. I relate to Roxas from KH a lot for some reason because my friend and I always joke we’re like Axel and Roxas, and it kinda became a nickname for me. I also relate to Suga from Haikyuu a lot because I’m like him personality wise and I also relate to how he loves the sport he does and cares a lot for the underclassmen but also sometimes feels surpassed by them. Also from BNHA I’m kinda conflicted because I relate to a few characters? I kinda relate to Mina, Momo and Ochako tbh like different parts of their characters and stuff
