I'm obsessed with the thought of Will having a different aesthetic!
Imagine Will is called into work on his day off and he's hanging out with maybe some friends or just people he can relate with and Will's like "shit I don't have time to change!"
Will pulls up to the crime scene in complete punk clothes! He's got the battle vest full of patches and spikes, dog collar used as a choke, ripped jeans, tattoos that he covers with long sleeves are now on display because he's wearing a short sleeve T-shirt and fishnets piercings (that he normally takes out for work)
Everyone is shocked!
The team is a like "why did Will never tell us he has tattoos"
Jack and Alana have a moment where they think he's snapped and is having a breakdown.
Hannibal thinks Will is even more attractive and he definitely stands closer to Will to get a smell of what he was doing before coming to the crime scene and can smell a faint smell of cigarettes on Will.
I picture Will smoking cause the stress of work and he probably picked it up as a cop but quit before he became FBI and the stress of trying to catch the ripper has him picking up the bad habit again.
I think Hannibal would start inviting Will over with a "Wear what's comfortable for you" cause he really wants to keep looking at Will in fishnets and makeup.
I imagine Will having a random assortment of tattoos like he has the John deer logo on his arm, (cuz all southern men have it lol) maybe some skulls with flowers, Will is definitely a possum guy so he's got a possum somewhere and maybe some tattoos for the dogs he's had through the years!
Hannibal really likes when Will has his lip ring(s) in because Will plays with them, Will gently bites at them and licks them and Hannibal can't take his eyes off of Will's lips.
..........
This is free to use just be sure to credit me and tell me if you write a fic inspired by my ramblings!

God, your detective Asgore makes me happy I got back into reading thriller mystery books. What was your inspo for that AU?
AHHHH! EPIC TMDG ASK! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY!
Tumblr media
*Art by @marihem
Firstly, the reason I was even inspired to write a serial killer fic in the first place was after reading a very fun fic titled "Knives & Blood, & me + You" by @missraindancer. I absolutely loved the first chapter. Definitely recommend that fic if you want something like a snuff thriller. It's giving campy 80s slasher and has a lot of Sans POVs, which I'll admit, did take away from the suspense but he has some funny commentary, and there's a charm to it when you go into the fic expecting more of a "Scream" movie and not "Hannibal."
That being said, the fic DID get me back into watching more serial killer related things like "Silence of the Lambs" - which is the BIGGEST inspiration for TMDG. I even named Frisk after Clarisse, that's how big of an inspiration the movie is to me.
I'm honestly so glad you like Detective Asgore, that was a last minute decision I made! At first he was going to be the Commissioner and the detective working with Frisk was another human... then I realized, wow, these are a lot of humans, and Frisk and Asgore's F/D relationship is getting lost in the weeds! So it was like... a day before I published? When I just changed all of that hahaha, and now he's like, one of my favorite characters so look at that! I would say Asgore is heavily inspired design wise by Jim Gordon.

It's 2am and I'm thinking about the conversation in the Hobbs' kitchen in Savoureux.
It's so interesting to me, because if you actually listen to what Hannibal is saying, it sounds like the kind of thing he should have tried like, maybe before framing Will for murder? It's the whole "accept your dark urges and become a killer" speech.
Like ignoring Will's dialogue here, which Hannibal kind of ignores anyway, he says:
"Perhaps you didn't come here to find a killer, Will. Perhaps you came here to find yourself. You killed a man in this very room. At a time when other men fear their isolation, yours has become understandable. You are alone because you are unique. If you explored the urges you kept down for so long, cultivated them for the inspirations they are, you would have become someone else."
Like it's the big "join the darkside you know you want to" speech Hannibal gives in like every fic. But obviously, this does not go well for him because he framed Will for murder and Will immediately realizes he's the killer. Because the normal response to your friend being accused of being a serial killer is "no he isn't!" and not "okay but what if you were? wouldn't that be cool?"
Hannibal, bud, I feel like this strategy would have worked for you better if you were nicer to him idk,, and maybe didn't frame him for murder,, and maybe didn't make him think he was crazy,, and maybe didn't gaslight him,,,

I’m obsessed with la douleur exquise, and I just have to ask what gave you the idea to write it? Did it just pop into your head one day? Dud someone say something? Were you watching/reading something?
It’s genuinely so good, and you write it so well.
You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want, but I wanted to tell you again how much I love your story.
💜🕸️
first of all, holy shit, never gotten an ask about one of my stories before, so i am jumping off the walls rn, oh my god!!
here is the link to the fic.
secondly, thank you so, so, SO much! like, seriously this means so much to me that you like my story so much. it's been such a struggle to write. i've been working on it since october, but there was a period of about 4 months where i didnt touch it at all. i still have some of it left to complete, and i even wrote for it earlier today. i'm almost finished with the last chapter.
but, to actually answer your questions, i only just started watching Hannibal in july and finished the entire series in august. i then became completely hyperfixated on it. like, i have not had a new hyperfixation like this since 2019. it completely took over my life, and all i could was think about them.
so i think it was around this time that i started to get ideas for la douleur exquise. at first, it was just little scenes and scenarios that mainly involved Will going full feral. somehow, the setting became the bshci, and the feral Will scene was born. i remember when i got the idea to have the red lighting while Will was on a killing spree. all of those visuals were heavily inspired by songs by Apashe and 1nonly.
i actually played around with a lot of different ideas for it. originally, all of the patients were going to fight each other to the death, and Will was going to pose the bodies like the Ripper to tell the story of his love for the Ripper. i had some ideas of how Will would use the bshci kitchen for his kills. he also would've been the last one alive. but that was way too much work because i'd want to do a lot more detail with each kill and each corpse arrangement that i just did not have the patience for with this story.
i had no plans to write this as an actual story until i wrote Will's love confession to Hannibal (which actually isn't posted quite yet). i wrote it on my phone on a blank google doc when i was high and then reread it when i was sober and knew i had to write the fic. so, i crafted a narrative that allowed Will to go completely unhinged so i could have that one feral Will scene (i actually had the fic title "will on a killing spree as a treat" for the longest time). and that's usually how a lot of my fics are written; i'll get one scene or idea and then go from there.

20 questions for writers
Thanks to @thequeenofthewinter for the tag <3
Tagging: @elavoria @atypicalacademic @gilgamish @nuwanders @ladytanithia @sheirukitriesfandom @throughtrialbyfire @lucien-lachance @miraakulous-cloud-district @bostoniangirl21 @terendelev
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
6
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
704,291 😅
3. What fandoms do you write for?
The Elder Scrolls and probably only ever the elder scrolls. Mostly Oblivion but I have one Skyrim lonngfic in the works. I read fic in several other fandoms, but this one has me by the throat.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Well, I only have 6 in the first place so it's not saying all that much.
5. Do you respond to comments?
I do the best I can to! Sometimes one slips by me on a particularly busy week, and then I'm too mortified by the lapse of time to answer. I don't think it's happened too often, but please know I read them all and am always grateful for them ❤️
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Haven't finished either of them yet, but it's gotta be The Illusionist Part 2, which is an Oblivion novelization with emphasis on the Dark Brotherhood and Mages Guild, or Beyond the Break, which is just me crying about Mathieu Bellamont.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Treacle which is still hella angst lmao, but Scar-Tail does live happily ever after, and it's all thanks to @atypicalacademic for the inspiration ❤️❤️❤️ I have also vowed to make my Skyrim fic, Slither and Writhe happier 😤 Thus far, it's going... well, it is going.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I haven't, and the few dissenting opinions that I have received I wouldn't consider hate either. They're just opinions. I hesitated to mention this, but since I was LITCHRALLY talking about Lucien Lachance on one of Ray's posts a few minutes ago, in the past I have receive messages detailing how my interpretation of Lucien is distasteful, given he is unabashedly a villain in my story and 1/2 of a toxic relationship (also he's... kind of pathetic lol). It's a darkfic and not for everyone, I'm well aware. Fortunately, many of my very lovely, talented friends and mutuals write great Lucien fics that are different from mine, so at the end of the day we all get what we want :D Variety is the spice of life, and you can pry grossnasty Lucien out of my cold, dead fingies.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I write sexual content (idk what counts as smut). Originally, I wrote all the sex scenes as fade-to-black, and while they're not super graphic, while editing a few months ago I thought "you know what, this needs more cunt." So yeah. The sex scenes have become a bit more explicit now than they were in the first iteration.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Nah, and I don't think I ever will.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge, and unless people are out there lifting passages of my writing and inserting it into their fics, I'm not going to claim ownership over ideas. We're all playing in the same sandpit, and while the execution is my own, I find it quite difficult to say the stories are totally original or novel because all my writing, from concepts to style, have been influenced in some way by the works of others.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
No, but I've tossed around some ideas with @zomboidatomic that may or may not one day bear fruit...
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
I've worked them all out of my system at this point, tbh. Romance doesn't really do anything for me on its own without compelling characterizations and intriguing plot. I select by other tags over ship most of the time too. That said I've been driven crazy by some of my friends ships with characters I've never even spoken to before. If it's good it's good, you know. (Though I am currently re-watching Hannibal and I will confess that I am still ill about Hannigram ajkfhalg)
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I'm going to finish them all, dammit!
16. What are your writing strengths?
Characterization, I think, especially when writing people who are awful lmao I've received a lot of compliments when it comes to writing villains and morally grey characters.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Ugh, I am so self-indulgent. Sometime last year I edited The Illusionist part 2 and trimmed out 60k words. It was so BLOATED (probablly still is). I think there were times when the plot got sidelined because I had an idea for a fun scene. Yes, I love writing Lucien and Nim hate-fucking and tearing each other apart in some weird mashup of Tommy Wiseau in The Room and the alien in The Thing. No, I did not need three chapters of this back to back, but I wanted it...
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
If the plot calls for it, then by all means 👍
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Hmm, now that I think of it it may have been a Fallout 3 Harkness fic that I kept in a composition notebook when I was 12. It will never see the light of day, obivo.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
OoOoh, that's tough. Slither and Writhe already feels stronger to me because I'm a more experienced writer, and I actually planned it out, but The Illusionist is my first baby.

1 5 9 & 17 for the asks💚
1. Have you written scenes (sex or otherwise) that actually made you feel uncomfortable, and how did you deal?
I have when I used to rp write with one friend, but that's been ages ago. I don't think I really have in my fanfics yet. I will be, however, in the third part of my Scott Summers/Tony Stark series that I've got started that will involve mind-to-physical rape, and while I'm not going to write it in the fullest detail I could, it's still going to be very ick, and I will very likely need a drink or two afterward.
5. Who's the sexiest non-human character in your current fandom? (must actually diverge from human sexual characteristics - no elves or asari)
I'm probably gonna have to say JARVIS, Vision, and Howard the Duck.
9. Who/what are your inspirations for truly fucked up content?
Stephen King is a HUGE influence along with the late Ray Garton, may he rest in peace. The Hannibal series falls in there somewhere, I'm sure.
17. If you could steal one fic from any other writer and claim it as your own, what would you take?
Hands down, End of the Line by @scottxlogan. The work that went into that, the plotting, the storyline, the complex mystery of it all just blows me away.
Thanks for the asks!

fandom asks: 1 2 8 11 12 17 23 24 25
list 3 positive things about your current fandom(s)
a) I love that the Daredevil fandom has been kept healthy with several events over the years: shout out to @daredevilexchange for all the work they've done! b) My mattfoggy buddies are all so sweet and supportive; I know I can always count on someone to leave a comment on my fics even if they're occasionally a bit niche! c) I'm currently loving the surge in podficcing! We've not only got longtime veterans doing podfics for other people's work, but several of us have dipped our toes into the waters and have begun to podfic our own work. Not only a neat part of fandom but a step toward some more enjoyable reading for our friends who primarily use screen readers.
2. a headcanon you weren't sure about at first but have come to like!
I think at first I wasn't super big on the whole "Mike is in love with Foggy and obnoxious about it" thing, but as anyone familiar with my fics knows I've since come to embrace it.
8. you hope more people will come to appreciate ___ (a ship, a trope, an episode, etc)
Honestly I'd just like people to write more fics and draw more art directly inspired by comics storylines, especially some of the older stuff! That's what I'm hoping to get people to do with my upcoming DD comics bingo event. :D
11. if you're a writer or artist, what fic or piece of art are you proud of making?
At the moment I'm really proud of Hearsay, which is a comics volume 1 wip. I just think it's very tightly written.
12. compliment someone else in your fandom
@mutuallyprime is as lovely and supportive as it gets! You can count on her to boost you up if you need it 🥺 and she's written some truly great fics! The DD 2003!Matt/Milla fic is never leaving my brain.
17. the thing in canon that everyone loves and that you also love
Already answered this one with Matt and Foggy's friendship, but I suppose I also love their frequent divorces. 😌 Great source of drama, I think we can all agree about that.
23. the fandom you're curious about because of a mutual
lol sorry this is a boring answer but at the moment... none! I have in the past however been influenced to watch things, including Hannibal (loved it), Interview with the Vampire (loved it), and BBC Merlin (hated it lmao).
24. how has fandom positively impacted your life?
I've made so many friends!! It's lovely to wake up in the morning and be able to go and say hi and chat about this thing we're all obsessed with. Far less lonely. :D
25. a piece of advice for taking care of yourself in fandom spaces
literally don't listen to anybody telling you you're doing fandom wrong because you do/don't do x, y, or z. it's your life and anybody espousing these opinions has a very narrow and limited view of other people's interiority. get the hell out of there if you see a post like this. you deserve better.

Thinking Of You
5. Do you respond to comments? - OF COURSE! I love reading comments, they are the source of my happiness and motivation! 💖
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? - You know what ? It has to be the 4x13 speculation fic I wrote for Buddie: Grief Is The Price We Pay For Love (Major death and a whole lot of angst!)

16. What are your writing strengths? - I would say my poetic style?? I just love using metaphors and allegories to describe characters, worlds and all sorts. I thank The Song of Achilles for inspiring this tbh.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? - I think dialogue and my poetic style, because sometimes I can go overboard and just miss the mark 😅
18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language? - LOVE IT!! Any chance I get I will use it!
19. First fandom you wrote in? - I thought it would be Disney's Descendants because that was how I got introduced to Tumblr. But it was actually 9-1-1!
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? - I'm going to be biased and say the one that I'm writing right now which is called: The Final Bow
It's a Feyd Rautha x OC multi fic and I'm having so much fun! 💖

I wanted to let you know how much I admire your writing. Your talent for storytelling is incredible, and I've been a big fan of your work for a while now.(You could see my comments in ao3)
Going through the comments in ao3 one thing was clear that u DO wanted to write a s4 fic but I guess u must be very busy which is understandable and if u need any help just let me know. I would love to assist you
I've been thinking about how amazing it would be to read a Season 4 fanfic from you. I can't help but imagine the magic you'd create with those characters and plotlines. So, I wanted to make it clear that it's now my mission to gently (or not so gently) nag you to write a Season 4 fic, every week.
I would definitely stop if it's not acceptable.
I'm really excited about the idea, and I would be absolutely thrilled to read your take on it.
Your writing has a special place in my heart, and I believe a Season 4 fic from you would be nothing short of extraordinary. Please consider it, and know that I'd be eagerly waiting to devour every word of it.
Looking forward to any updates on this mission of mine!
Love 😘
Cassy from ao3
Yeah, this is not a good idea. Don't do this, especially not now. I don't know if you're a member of the group of friends who recently overwhelmed my private messaging with questions about season 4, almost creepy enthusiasm, and nagging for responses. But if not, be aware that after something like 56 messages in less than two days, I actually started blocking people. This is something I've rarely done to non-porn bots--I've probably blocked real people less than 5 times in the 10 years I've been on tumblr. I appreciate that you like my work, but with this context in mind, now is not the time.
And just a note for the general audience out there and those people I blocked in case they're lurking about: I'm not a meta tap you can privately turn on for your Hannibal fix, nor a stand-in for Bryan Fuller and production now that most have lost hope for a season 4. I still enjoy Hannibal but have mostly moved on to other hobbies, and if I do ever write another fic or a season 4 fic, it will be when I feel moved by inspiration, not by being inundated by demands.
For the record, what specific ideas I have for a season 4 fic will remain unstated unless I write it, and what speculations and predictions I have that seem realistic for the actual show, I've probably mostly stated in previous metas, or if not, have kept to myself for personal reasons. I'm sure some of it I've forgotten by this point.
The right way to approach me for a meta discussion is to send an ask to my inbox like Cassy here did, so that I can make a public response and generate a discussion if possible: that's how a meta blog generates content for blogging. No one who writes meta has time to write whole analytical essays and arguments for an audience of 1, unless that audience is a very close and trusted friend.
With that said, I do understand that this isn't that satisfying since I haven't answered asks in a long time, and when I have, my responses have been brief. The truth is, I just haven't got that much to say about Hannibal that I haven't already said in the past. I believe there are a variety of more recent Hannibal meta blogs out there, as well as ones that reblog and index meta from multiple writers. Good luck to you all in finding what you're looking for.
Cassy, I do appreciate your enthusiasm, and I'll make an effort to catch up on my AO3 comments here in a bit.

Fic Author Self-Rec Meme
@doggernaut tagged me on this, thanks for the tag. Okay, first off, go and read all of her stuff. You can start with these, but really, read all of them. Okay, was there a minimum? Maximum? Hmm... I'm going to follow her lead and pick five. I mean, do I pick my five favorite? Five most popular? Um... Okay, I'll do three OMGCP that I really like, and will throw in a couple from other fandoms.
OMGCP - I have over 200 Check, Please! fics, so it was hard to pick just three.
Blessing in Disguise - Zimbits I'm starting with this one, because it's my latest Zimbits fic and I was really happy with how it turned out, but pretty bummed by the number of hits. It was part of a OMGCP AU event, and the prompt was "AU where Jack didn't go to Samwell, but has a younger sister who does. She befriends Bitty and SMH, and Jack ends up hanging out with them when he visits her." I changed it in that Jack went to Samwell but graduated the semester before Bitty or his sister began. There's a lot of longing and missed connections, but don't worry, they finally get it together.
Weekender - Zimbits I think this is my longest fic? Um, I think so. I wrote most of this fic while I was in another country traveling for work. It was also the fastest fic that came to me. It was over 30K words and I wrote it in less than a month by the seat of my pants. Jack and Bitty meet at Falcs Fest. This fic was inspired by the time I went to Fan Expo Canada. It got me thinking, what would happen if you connected with a famous someone you met at a fan expo? Here's what happens.
Bits of Heaven - Zimbits Okay, I couldn't make up my mind between Bits of Heaven or All the Best Parts, but I went with the former. Here we meet a 40-something Jack and Bitty who get a second chance at love. Friends to lovers, with septuagenarian Bad Bob (and teenaged Frogs) acting as cupid. I love second chance at love stories, and oh! It features beautiful artwork by @ibakesouffles
Other Fandoms:
Glenn Miller and Blood: Or How to Court Someone in the 21st Century - Sam/Bucky This took off in a way I didn't expect. I wrote it after watching The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Did I ever ship them? Nope. Did I after watching the show? Heck yeah. I imagined how awkward dating would be for Buck. Then I imagined HOW AWKWARD it would be for him to realize he was in love with Sam---and I just went for it. It's fluff, just like a lot of fluff, okay? But it was fun!
Gauge Your Interest - Hannigram I wrote this one in 2016, so I don't really remember my thought process behind this one other than wouldn't be it funny if Hannibal thought Will was cheating on him, but instead Will was doing something completely innocent (and sweet)? Hannigram crack, for realsies.

For the author asks!
9. If you had to assign a theme song to your Golden Age WIP, which would you assign? (Or Stay if you'd rather do a finished fic!)
12. Who is your favorite author? (fanfic and/or published novels 👀)
12. Favorite author(s)?
Oh boy. You're not fishing here, are you? Because ashestocrows has definitely skyrocketed towards the top of the list in the past year! Apprentice89 is another, I've read everything they've put out at least twice, if not more!
As for actual published work, I haven't read an authors work consistently in a long time, I just kind of pick up stuff here and there. I know I would enjoy more of Neil Gaiman's work if I actually had the attention span to read it, but for the sake of answering, I'm gonna say Steig Larson for his Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trilogy. Once I got past the first few chapters and into the meat of the mystery for that first book, I powered through the whole trilogy in two weeks. I also really enjoy Tolkien, and Thomas Harris for his Hannibal saga.
9. Theme song to Golden Age WIP or Stay?
The Last of the Real Ones by Fall Out Boy is probably the song that's inspiring the Golden Age wip for sure! With maybe a little Cosmic Love by Florence + the Machine, because that's just my general Blackice theme song that plays anytime I think about the boy's lol.
For Stay, I wouldn't have really assigned it anything until recently, which would now have to be Down Here Waiting by Blue October. It's so very Pitch in this fic that it kills me every time I hear it!

I keep reading Hannibal (NBC) fan fiction for inspiration and whatnot and it bothers me that everyone makes Will Graham too neurotypical. He's autistic yall. They mention it in episode one. He's not that social able and he doesn't joke the way people make him joke. It pulls me from the story.
Anyways. I edited two fics and I'm gonna work on more in a little while.

hey i just found your tumblr after enjoying your hannigram fics for a while, first of all, you’re a genius, second of all, i love how you explore different, but equally hot and usually dark, dynamics between them that somehow all read as deeply in character. curious if you’ve ever considered a scenario placed further in the show, like after the whole framed-for-murder ordeal. anyway thanks for sharing your stuff!
thank you for using such nice words to describe me and my work i cherish them very deeply <3333
that's a great idea and i'm definitely curious to try writing from parts further into the show, i've been writing from the first season perspective mainly bc that's my favorite season and there's a lot of open paths to play with, but i'm definitely interested in giving season 2 a shot!
i'd love to explore that thin veil between hatred and obsession, that angry lustful thing between them... especially when Hannibal has this kind of cheeky excitement of allowing Will to know something he has no evidence for, making this private connection between them of both seeing through to their respective darkness. yeah <3
thank you for making the pilgrimage to my ask box to talk to me! keep an eye out, i'll definitely be exploring this and i'm pretty much greedy for suggestions as inspiration so if you really wanna see something and it catches my fancy there's a good chance i'll write something up for it!

Hi I hope your doing ok. I'm praying for you and the rest of the Ukraine. I'm a huge fan of your writing and I wanted to run an idea by you and ask your opinion on it. I'm writing a fanfiction story about Hannibal in which it turns out Bedelia had Hannibal's child, a daughter, in secret many years ago after a discrete affair and gave her away to a catholic orphanage in New Orleans. Years later she becomes a trainee at the FBI and ends up working for Jack Crawford to help him bring Hannibal Lecter and Will Graham to justice. How do you think Hannibal would react if he found out he had a daughter? would he try to turn her into a killer like himself and try to form a murder family with her and Will like he tried too with Abigail or would he kill her? Could he? and also how would Will react? Would he be pleased with getting a second chance at getting to be a father figure and try to have with her what he wanted with Abigail or would he be angry and jealous and try to kill her? Or would they both be amused at finally getting a worthy adversary in their ongoing cat and mouse game with the FBI? I'd love to know your thoughts and any constructive criticism would be very welcome. I'm a little new to tumblr and haven't posted anything as of yet but will definitely soon when I can find more time for writing. I've been working crazy hours, doesn't leave me with a lot of time or energy for writing but I try too when I can. Anyways best wishes and I hope I hear from you soon!
Hi! Welcome to Tumblr, and thank you so much for your kind words <3
This is a very interesting fic idea! Love that you chose New Orleans as a home for Hannibal's child, considering Will's ties to this place.
Whether Hannibal would try to influence his daughter depends on her personality. We never see him try to seduce normal people like Alana or Jack or Franklyn to darkness. Because that's not what he does: he always respects his projects' preferences. That's why he sends a vulnerable patient to Bedelia, who likes to crush the weak; why he urges Margot to kill Mason but no one else; why he encourages the beast in Randall. That's why he gives Will people like Hobbs, Gideon, Randall, Mason, Tobias, Francis, himself. He never deviates from this. He knows what each of these people is capable of and he doesn't cross their limits, just pushes them to embrace their highest potential.
So, if his daughter had inner darkness, then yes, I think Hannibal would be interested in bringing it out. But if she was genuinely good, then I think he'd want to preserve it. He'd probably think it's incredibly ironic that he and Bedelia gave birth to someone normal. I doubt he'd want her to live with him and Will as a part of their family - honestly, I doubt Hannibal would have bothered with Abigail if it wasn't for Will, despite him having a form of true attachment to her. But he'd likely want to stay in touch. His daughter would be not just a part of him, but also a part of Mischa, and Hannibal would treasure it. He'd be capable of killing her, but only if there was no other choice. I do think he'd pick Will over her any time.
Will, I think, would be wary at first. I don't think he'd be jealous, but maybe he'd feel insecure occasionally. He'd probably focus his resentment on Bedelia, though. His attitude would depend on the personality of Hannibal's child and the dynamic they'd develop. If she chased them, then Will would probably be upset and worried: he wouldn't want to be caught and he wouldn't want to harm her - or to let Hannibal harm her. If she showed a little more moral greyness and interest in getting to know them, then I imagine they'd be able to develop an interesting mixed relationship: a little friendly, a little fatherly, a little adversarial.
Naturally, this is just how I see it. Hope this helped! Wishing you inspiration!

I absolutely love TBS, and I got my uncle to listen to it : from all the podcasts I rec'ed to him, this is the one he prefers! I really appreciate how complex (yet coherent) all of your characters are, and how real their relationships seem. The way you write flaws is really inspiring and incredibly comforting as well. Do you maybe have any advice on how to write believable romantic relationships? I've never had one and thus struggle to write it, especially the process of starting to build one.
ahhh thank you SO much! and omg, I'm so glad your uncle likes it!! uncle approval!!
I also really appreciate the kind words about character flaws - I love writing complex and imperfect characters, so its always nice to know when they resonate!
in terms of romantic relationships....that's SUCH an interesting question. and I absolutely do not think that having a romantic relationship in your real life is a precursor to writing compelling romantic relationships. when I wrote TBS, I'd only had one serious romantic relationship and used exactly....zero of it for inspiration. I'm in a serious partnership now (only my second serious relationship) and I don't think I ever really directly draw on it - it's a relationship that's taught me a lot about myself and helped me grow (as great friendships do too), which of course makes me a better writer (and I hope a better human too), but when I'm writing romance, I feel like I'm building it from an entirely different set of blocks, if that makes sense.
I think a big part of it is that I love romance. I love love love it. and there's so much I love in romance stories that I would never ever want in my real life! which I think gives me the flexibility of (hopefully) being able to write different types of relationships.
okay, so, then, where do I turn for inspiration if not in my real life? well, a few things:
read romance! a few favorites from the last few years - anything by Alexis Hall (Rosaline Palmer Takes the Cake and Boyfriend Material are two faves and I'm reading and loving A Lady for a Duke right now), The Charm Offensive, The Ex Talk, One Last Stop, Spoiler Alert
read Romancing the Beat by Gwen Hayes! it's a book all about how to structure romance novels, but I think all the principles apply to all mediums
watch and rewatch your favorite romances in tv/film and take notes on what works for you and what doesn't. I can't tell you the number of times I've watched the 2005 P&P. I've thought seriously about why Rachel/Joey works for me in Friends more than Rachel/Ross. I've watched how they pull off the will-they-won't-they in New Girl and Chuck a million times (both are a masterclass in timing - they get the two people together within the first two seasons (VITAL!!! you can't take too long!) and then maintain tension and conflict while giving you reasons to always keep rooting for them). Hannibal is one of my favorite tv shows of all time specifically for the way it unfolds its central romance - how do you make a story a love story when it is primarily about murder and losing your mind? what does that love story look like when consummated? (bloody, the answer is bloody)
and then I love reading fanfic of these love stories! what does Jonah/Amy from Superstore look like if they get together earlier and other parts of life don't get in the way? what happens if you pair a character with their canon partner versus a non-canon partner? a big thing I've been doing recently is diving into the tag for popular ships on tumblr that I don't personally ship. there's lots of ships in things I watch where I'm like "I get it, but I don't feel it" and I think it's so valuable to read a few beloved fics to try and understand it. even if that understanding is "nope! still don't like it!" that's so valuable too!
which brings me to - keeping notes. I have a running list of themes/tropes/archetypes/romance arcs that I like and dislike (sometimes this is a real list, sometimes its mental). it's just as important to know what you don't like as it is what you do. especially since, if you come across a trope you don't like in something but it doesn't bother you as much in a particular ship, you can learn so much from how that person wrote that trope in a way that didn't bug you! for instance, both cheating and accidental pregnancy are two big turn-offs for me in terms of ships, but, like, Sense8 with Kala/Wolfgang/Rajan tracked over some cheating elements but did it SO elegantly (and then solved the problem of love triangles the way I wish ALL love triangles were solved lol).
let all this stuff stew and marinate and when it comes to building a romance, start with the things you know you like! for instance, with Caleb/Adam and Max/Ross (The Bright Sessions and Maxine Miles respectively) I knew I wanted to start with a kind of enemies-to-lovers, because that usually compels me more than childhood-friends-to-lovers. BUT because they're teenagers and teenagers can be very cruel, I wanted to make sure never to veer into the bully/bullied getting together trope, because that's veryyyyy hard to do well imo. so Caleb and Adam were more slightly estranged/not friendly rather than enemies and Max and Ross had the history of being friends and then just growing up and starting to annoy each other bc deep down they wanted to kiss. that's another thing I love - mutual pining. and with that, it can't just be that each character is pining equally and equally aware of it - Adam knew he was pining for Caleb but Caleb had no idea until all of a sudden he did, and then his ability created a nice complicating factor for the pining. for Max and Ross, it's the same thing - Ross knows he's pining and Max is pining but oblivious about it (for now). for mutual pining in general, there has to be a reason why they can't just get their acts together, and one of them being an idiot is usually a good one lol. or, I'm writing a cowboy romance right now, and both men know they're pining but there's so much baggage in their past (enemies to friends to pining to enemies to reluctant partners to lovers) that they're shoving it down
practice on fanfic! I did this so much last year, and worked out a lot of different strategies - fanfic bingos are great for practice because they can force you to try out tropes you wouldn't ordinarily
okay, gosh, this got so long and I'm not sure it was helpful at all, and also I'm pretty sure I'm several years late on answering this ask, so I hope this is at least somewhat interesting! thank you for the question!
