4 years, 40 facts about me loving napo... let's go 🏃🏻♀️

the date of our "anniversary", June 19th, is one day after the date of the battle of Waterloo 💀
both our given names are of Italian origin
we're both leo zodiac signs
our birthdays are 8 days apart, in the same month
he's my first otome route ever played
i've only played his route once, in July 2019
i've never seen his dramatic ending
my first impression of him on a teaser tweet of ikevamp EN was that he looks like an asshole, and I didn't like his looks either...
my falling for him was utterly illogical as despite these thoughts I put him on my phone wallpaper a few days later (still before the release of ikevamp EN)
as of right now ao3 says he appears in 59 of my posted works: the total number of fics I have published with him is higher as a few of those are stand-alones in a multichapter fic (napoleon bday prompts 2019 +9, yumeweek 2020 +5, mini requests +4, headcanons +11 ) ...he appears in about 1/3 of all my fics!
we share a hobby of reading biographies! the official ikevamp character sheets state it as his hobby
our height difference is 18 cm
the @xxsycamore blog exists solely because of him, as well as my passion for writing - I started this blog because I wanted to express my love in some kind of creative way, as previously (and for the longest time) I thought my medium would be art instead of writing
despite that, my first ever posted fic is not with him but with Arthur!

Talk to me! From about 3 years ago to now, I struggle with talking to people. (I would call it social anxiety but i haven't been diagnosed and i don't want to spread any false information.) I have been blatantly ignored at social events and over time it has put a barrier between me and my peers. It breaks my heart to hear that similar things has happened to others and although i can't do much, i will lend some of my time if you want to talk it out. STACKED100 - MARCH POST
what is stacked100?
It’s something I thought up, inspired in part by “stackednatural”, but mostly by myself doing this with The Vampire Diaries this last year (see my #stackediaries tag). The gist of it is that you watch each episode of the show on the anniversary of their airing date. It “officially” started in October (with only two episodes) and it would end in September 2024. You can see the full schedule here.
what are we supposed to do with this
Whatever the hell you want lmao. Tag whatever post you make #stacked100 and go for it! Gifsets, live blogging, discussions… engage with other people as much or as little as you want. Watch some episodes and not others, for any reason. I’m doing this to have some fun with this VERY polarizing show, seeing how my perspective might be changed with hindsight + this specific way of watching it, and a bit because I miss my little corner of this messy as fuck fandom. But this is something you can do in whichever manner works for you, mate.

I think I’ve talked about all that stuff before but if you want more details or specifics just ask!
For the last couple years, my really big influences have all been other artists I’ve met online. I mean I made a whole book with @ordheist and @bagb0ss. There’s a sort of loose cloud of (mostly) SFF artists that I’ve been really lucky to work and speak with and we all kinda know or know of each other or end up in the same Discord servers, or working on the same RPGs, etc. I’m not gonna link everybody but if you go through the interviews I’ve conducted for my newsletter or check out my side blog you’ll start to figure out who I mean (seriously a lot of these people are coming to tumblr now from twitter and I’ve been reblogging the hell out of them.) Seeing all the stuff my peers are putting out and talking with them is the source of like 90% of the ideas for my personal illustrations these days. It’s cool to be part of a community. I wish there were more opportunities to meet in person, but it’s still cool.
The other stuff that’s really been in my head lately is art that’s less illustrative, more abstract and graphical. Not pure abstraction mind you, but I’ve really been digging stuff that’s more about communicating a concept, feeling, piece of information, or idea than a narrative. More about design and composition than rendering. I recently read Philip Meggs’ History of Graphic Design and that’s turned me on to so new many artists and styles. In particular I’ve fallen in love with all the Vienna Secession guys, the Glasgow Style artists, and all the graphic and bookmaking ideas that came out of the Arts and Crafts movement. I don’t know how I want to work these ideas into my drawings yet and I haven’t had a lot of time to experiment lately but they're definitely bouncing around in my head.

There’s a whole lot of art that I really love but it rarely gets reflected in my drawings- American Regionalist paintings, gig posters, childrens’ storybooks, Eastern European Mosaics, Native American art, outsider art, colonial Americana …. One day I’ll find a way to synthesize it all.

A couple of announcements
//Got a few things I need to make you all aware of.
1 - Unavailability
//First of all I understand that this is very annoying, and frankly I find it annoying too, but I'm not going to be available to post for the next week as of today. This is because basically every day that I post, I'm preoccupied with some other matter.
//I have a doctors appointment on Friday for long lasting health issues, a wedding to attend on Sunday and Monday, and a funeral on Tuesday. So you probably won't be saying any genuine posts from me until Wednesday next week earliest.
//It's frankly very inconvinient, but these are important matters and I hope you can understand.
2 - Warriors of Other Worlds Release Date
//The second is that the beginning of the Warriors of Other Worlds arc, AKA the Danganronpa X Death Battle crossover that I set up at the end of last year will be dropping on the first day of March.
//I've addressed concerns about running the arc alongside the main story once already, but I believe that unlike the previous examples, we shouldn't have any real problems this time, considering this is very much a side spinoff arc and meant for more fun than anything else.
//Also, all the chapters are already pre-written and prepared, so you don't need to worry about delays or anything of that sort. There are a few things I want to make you all aware of in regards to this special event.
These will be the matchups that you all voted for, and unlike the other arcs, they will be available to read on Tumblr and ALSO Wattpad and AO3.
The release dates for the battles and the battles themselves are listed below (or at least the dates I HOPE for these battles to be up in the instance that something bad happens):

I did the analysis and created this arc in tandem with two friends of mine in the DB community at university. Let the record say that we are in no way biased towards the Danganronpa characters, and don't intend to give that impression. We personally do not care about the verdict so long as we can make an entertaining display and analysis for you all. But we are a team of three people, so if there are some things we portray incorrectly or get wrong, don't hold it against us. We appreciate constructive feedback given to us calmly and appropriately; but also know that we won't be going back to make changes to the verdicts we've put in place. These are our final says on the matter, and whether you accept that or not is fine and shouldn't matter in the end.
In relation to this, I know how the death battle fandom is and I'm aware that it can be toxic at its worst, so I'm warning you all now that any toxicity will be treated appropriately with a permanent ban from the blog.
I've said this before, but this event is completely unofficial and fan-based. I'm not endorsed by the official Death Battle channel in any way shape or form. I know I don't need to say that, but I will.
//Any other rules that pertain to the event itself will be posted on the day of release. I will be doing regular posts of this event, so I hope you look forward to that.
3 - Clearing the Ask Box
//I haven't quite decided when I will do it, but I have so many asks in the box right now and it's more than I'm physically capable of keeping up with. So pretty soon, I will be clearing the box and starting from scratch.
//So this is just a shoutout that if you have any unanswered asks that date back to a while ago, I won't be overviewing them and if you really want me to answer them, I advise you send them again.
//I will let you guys know when this happens though.
4 - Naegibowl Poll
//The last thing I wanted to talk about briefly is that fairly recently, I made a poll asking the readers of the blog how they would like me to handle the relationship dynamic for Makoto Naegi.
//As things stand, Makoto is under the eye of three different girls; Kyoko, Mukuro and Sayaka, but is already married to one of them; Kyoko.
//People do still like to tease all three for their feelings for him, and I have hinted before, especially recently due to some asks, that the three girls also feel something for each other as well as Makoto, so I put up a poll to ask what I should do with that information: Either leave things as they are and let Makoto have one bride, or go the ploycule route.
//Based on the results, the popular opinion seems to be to give all the girls a happy ending. Which you know what? I'm totally ok with.
//Don't expect anything soon, but I will act upon the results of this poll as soon as I can in the third phase of the story, assuming I actually get there.
//And that's all I have to announce for now. Hope you stay tuned for the updates and look forward to what I have in store.

Duck Prints Press Celebrates Folktales and Fables Week with Our Favorite Folktale-Inspired (often Queer) Fiction
This week, March 19th to 25th, is World Folktales and Fables Week! Duck Prints Press is celebrating with two blog posts: yesterday’s, which focused on the folktales, fables, and myths that influenced us as creators, and today’s, about our favorite folktale-inspired fiction (queer and otherwise).
Two Hands, Wrapped in Gold by S.B. Divya (suggested by Dei)
This past year I read this story in Uncanny Magazine Issue 46, and it’s really stuck with me. It’s a retelling of a folktale very familiar to many Westerners, and the changes made turn it into a very compelling new story all on its own. No spoilers on what story it is, but suffice to say it takes a new perspective and I love this piece to bits.
Once & Future by Cory McCarthy and A. R. Capetta (suggested by Tris Lawrence)
I’m currently really enjoying the duology by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy which is an Arthurian retelling in space with a female Arthur and multiple queer rep. It’s YA, and it’s just… fun? I love how it played with the the known pieces, and plays with Merlin’s aging backwards, and works to both fit within the expected and turn things around at the same time.
I’ve finished Once & Future (in Space) and just received Sword in the Stars (confronting the past) and can’t wait to get to read it after I finish what I’m already reading.
One For the Morning Glory by John Barnes (suggested by Nina Waters)
My favorite folktale-inspired book is John Barnes’s One for the Morning Glory. It’s just beautiful.
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller (suggested by Owlish)
Unfortunately, it does have a major character death because…well… Achilles. It is so beautifully written, though.
Burning Roses by S. L. Huang (suggested by Shadaras)
This novella takes inspiration from the fairytale Red Riding Hood and the legend of Hou Yi (as well as other classic Germanic fairy tales and Chinese legends!), and imagines both of those characters as middle-aged women uncertain of their place in the world. They travel together, fighting monsters, and tell each other about their youths and families (both of them have wives and children). The ending is happy, but the path there takes time and reflection from everyone involved. I love it because of how it blends two wholly separate mythologies together into one cohesive world, as well as for showing what might happen after the stories we know end.
The Book of Gothel by Mary McMyne (suggested by Owlish)
It’s a feminist retelling of Repunzel from the point of view of Mother Gothel setting her story straight.
Robin McKinley’s Fairy Tale Novels (suggested by E C)
Robin McKinley’s fairy tale novels are beautifully written (but sometimes brutal) retellings of some classic stories.
Guardian/Zhen Hun/镇魂 by Priest (suggested by boneturtle)
A danmei featuring humans, ghosts, demons, zombie kings, and all sorts of otherworldly creatures all wrapped up in an apocalyptic chinese folktale mashup from the master herself. taught me that 1) you are allowed to play with your own mythology, 2) fairytales are gay, 3) the apocalypse isn’t the end, just another spin of the wheel.
October Daye Series by Seanan McGuire (suggested by Sebastian Marie)
I love this series, there’s like eleven books, the first being Rosemary and Rue. They’re inspired by Irish folklore concerning the Faerie people.
Ash by Malinda Lo (suggested by E C)
“Ash” by Malinda Lo is a very queer Cinderella retelling.
Shubeik Lubeik by Deena Mohamed (suggested by Adrian Harley)
A gorgeous graphic novel of the modern world, but where wishes are a commodity, bought, sold, and processed. The graphic novel follows three people who come into possession of a “first-class” wish and their intertwining tales. It’s a beautiful exploration on a global and personal scale (what does colonialism look like in this world? How does law enforcement treat those who are seen as unworthy of having wishes? But also, if you’re a queer college student with major depression, what do you wish for to fix the mountain you feel crushing you? Are you even worthy of a wish?)—and it’s also really funny! I cannot say enough good things about this book, because I discovered it by chance on my library shelf last month and want everyone to know about it.
The Lunar Chronicles Series by Marissa Meyer (suggested by E C)
It’s sci-fi that brings Cinderella, Snow White, Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel characters into the same universe.
Deathless by Catherynne M. Valente (suggested by Anonymous)

Saiyuki by Kazuya Minekura (suggested by Anonymous)
It’s a manga with a distinctly retro anime-style retelling of the Journey to the West that bluntly confronts themes of loss, grief, redemption, and the long, long road to admitting you care about other people. It’s been on and off hiatus for years due to the author’s poor health, but I still adore it. This series taught me that it’s the journey that matters, not the destination.

The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley (an inspiration to multiple people, suggested by multiple people)
When we asked our contributors to suggest the folktales and fables that inspired them, and their favorite folktale-inspired stories, The Mists of Avalon ended up getting nominated in both categories!
boneturtle said: retelling of Arthurian legend from Morgana’s POV. Not explicitly queer but features the women of the story with the men as sort of incidental, and given to me by my bi friend who said it helped her understand her own sexuality. and it’s beautifully, beautifully written.

1 Bubbly: The reader grew up in Small Heath, her beauty is unrivaled and yet it's the cause of all her problems. After being employed by Thomas Shelby she falls for him. Despite their reputations, common sense, and the age gap, Tommy can't help himself. This story takes off after they hook up and follows the reader as she navigates the world of crime, business, and romance.
2 Prima Ballerina: With her career over, she embraces family life with the Shelbys. With a wedding and babe on the way, this focuses on her side of the conflicts Tommy takes on over the various seasons

5 Adopted: The reader has settled into her life with Lizzy and Tommy this follows their journey as she goes through her last year of school. It shows a good deal of Lizzie & Tommy's relationship, as they heal their own wounds and manage Tommy's health. The reader explores falling in love, while her family has made things mostly legal, her boyfriend's life is firmly cemented in everything her father tried to keep her out of. I'm thinking mystery solving, parties, friend group drama, relationships, twists, turns, heartbreaks, growing pains, and lots of the Shelby family madness.

Tranquil fall challenge
October 19th, day 1
Soo... day one! A few days late cause I completely missed the start of this challenge haha. First a little intro to my blog and myself: Hiya, I'm Lili, just turned 23 a few days ago. I'm currently in my second year of German and English studies (studying in Germany) after finding out I didn't really jive with mechanical engineering. The switch was a big decision, but ultimately the right decision as it helped me finally be content with the life I have. After taking it slow for a year and working on my mental health, I'm now ready to take some more fun extracurriculars like a Chinese class and a unicycling class.
My goals for this challenge are to be at least somewhat consistent, since that's what I struggle with the most. I hope this also helps me study a bit more consistently :)
On to the other things:
1. Today I'm grateful for my body and that it can do what I need it to do.
2. Today I choose ease. Don't want to stress myself too much today haha
3. Today my goals are finishing my medieval German lit reading and my Chinese homework

STACKED100 - NOVEMBER POST
what is stacked100?
It's something I thought up, inspired in part by "stackednatural", but mostly by myself doing this with The Vampire Diaries this last year (see my #stackediaries tag). The gist of it is that you watch each episode of the show on the anniversary of their airing date. It "officially" started in October (with only two episodes) and it would end in September 2024. You can see the full schedule here.

Whatever the hell you want lmao. Tag whatever post you make #stacked100 and go for it! Gifsets, live blogging, discussions... engage with other people as much or as little as you want. Watch some episodes and not others, for any reason. I'm doing this to have some fun with this VERY polarizing show, seeing how my perspective might be changed with hindsight + this specific way of watching it, and a bit because I miss my little corner of this messy as fuck fandom. But this is something you can do in whichever manner works for you, mate.

-November 19th - Season 2 Episode 5, "Human Trials". While Kane leads a mission to make peace with the Grounders, Jasper agrees to participate in a risky experiment, and Finn's search for Clarke takes a violent turn.

part of what makes now so mad about the way they’ve subbed in Fleabag for Anne in the Netflix Persuasion trailer is that the plot doesn’t make any sense if Anne is not Anne. Austen is one of the best of the best at character-driven plot where if the characters were not the characters they are, and if even one little thing about their upbringing or their habits or characters or dispositions or ways of understanding the world were different, THE WHOLE PLOT WOULD BE DIFFERENT
Netflix, you CANNOT get me to believe that a snarky Independent Woman who dumps gravy on her head to get out of an awkward situation would make the same choices and respond the same way and be treated the same way by her family as a self-effacing, quietly kind proper lady who adheres to the ideals of feminine behavior for her society— to the point where she’s so compassionate the people around her just take her and her service for granted and tend to either devalue her or exploit her.
