Any advice on drawing McCoy? I’m not used to drawing ancient wrinkley bastards (affectionate) and it’s surprisingly tough v-v

FOR SURE lmao i made. a diagram. just a warning that i am going to be irritating and long winded because u just hit a topic i really like sorry lmao

so first off i did some traces just to show whats there vs redraws to show my interpretation

ive said this on other asks but again jsyk, tracing isnt bad!! its a tool. theres some stuff with intellectual property and whatnot but using tracing to study shapes and forms is a really valuable practice.

also just taking some time to learn facial structures and anatomy is super useful, reading what bones and muscles are where and how they interact with one another. taking this info and staring in the mirror and moving your face around and thinking about it. just really furthers understanding of how the face works. trying to sound normal about this but i love anatomy and motion and physics and whatever

anyways im going to go through all the numbered points so there's no confusion. 1. forehead lines - self explanatory. more prominent when brows are raised 2. crows feet - at the outer corners of the eyes, more prominent when smiling or squinting 3. nasolabial folds - the folds that go from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth. more prominent when the mouth is wide, like smiling 4. brow furrow - self explanatory, most prominent when brows are furrowed. mccoy tends to have two right next to his eyebrows, kirk has one in the middle. everyones face works different lmao 5. chin crease - caused by how the chin and lower lip interact. 6. nasojugal groove - start from the inner corners of the eye and can extent over the cheeks. everyone has these and idk why people dont like them i think theyre really cool!!!! but Society. i guess. :/ 7. eye bags - caused by the skin sagging beneath the eyes. mccoy isnt even that old in tos i think hes meant to be mid 40s by the end of the 5 year mission, hes just got really prominent eye bags lmao 8. idk what the name is for these, but when the mouth is wide and pushes the skin to the sides, these folds sometimes form outside of the nasolabial folds 9. philtrum - the groove above the upper lip. i dont usually draw this but mccoy's struck me as prominent enough that i usually draw it on him 10. masseter - the muscle that moves the jaw up and down. its a pretty rugged muscle and while i wouldnt say mccoy's is especially prominent, it kind of extends that nasojugal groove from certain angles/positions 11. orbicularis oris - mouth muscle, usually easier to see when lips are pursed or frowns are pulled. mccoy's is pretty prominent from 3/4ths or side, his mouth tends to protrude in profile 12. this isnt a muscle but more of a line defining the planes of the face, but since i drew it i felt i should explain lmao

a few points:

im an animator i tend to exaggerate and emphasize certain things so i usually make him more square.

i like to combine eyebags and crows feet for brevity/flow, same with nasojugal grooves, eyebags, and masseter lines. my approach is always subject to change based on pose, expression, reference image, etc.

i take out details that i deem redundant or cluttering and keep what details i need to make things feel Right

all this info is applicable to any character of any age, its just in how you apply it and facial proportions that willl change how old a character is perceived to be

there's a lot more with drawing a Character rather than an Actor, just because the features are there doesnt necessarily mean things will feel correct? its very much in the mannerisms and poses and expressions

i only went over my approach to his likeness but not really body type or posing or anything idk if u want that i could always try to answer that later haha

anyways all that info kind of exists nebulously in my brain while i draw its not like im sitting there thinking Must Draw. Nasolabial Fold...... i jsut do what feels right with the visual info i have. also i love specificity in faces.... i dont like to be a hater but when every character is drawn the same it pisses me off a little lmao. so

also dont take my word as The Only Way to do anything i just draw how i like to draw and no one should feel like these are things that Must be done to be a good artist or anything do whatever the hell u wanna do

Hey I was just peaking at the reblogs for my addition bc I did not expect it to pick up any kind of traction but then it did dhjsks anyways I want to clarify that when i said its not the artists fault what I meant (and didnt say bc I felt it was a whole other discussion oops thats on me) is that its the labels fault. Recording labels are notoriously nefarious in how they exploit artists and i didnt wanna blame all artists for that (tho some are def part of the problem as a whole they are not imo). I hope that clears things up and I enjoyed reading ur thoughts!!!

omg when i was typin up those tags i was literally hoping op wouldnt read bc it came off so cunty >~< im not upset at you im just really passionate! record labels ARE notoriously horrible but i rlly feel like if an artist has a backbone they can figure out SOMETHING ya know! is a painter a painter if they only paint what and how and when theyre told to? is an ai algorithm that produces something that makes u think of a painting based on what you feed it a painter? no! it might be interesting, might be cool— but theres no substance to it, intrinsically— the art aspect would come from the person putting in the keywords or the viewer (art is in the eye of the beholder, but art isnt art without some sort of soul.) would u want to only see ai paintings forever? would you get bored with meaning strictly coming from how you perceive it and knowing that thats the case? or would you start to crave something created by a real person? record labels are horrible and theyre seemingly doing just that with music! but i feel like if its not common knowledge that record labels are rancid rotten… then im not sure what is! i think with such an in flux of Artists that are more Face than talent, and with Influencer becoming a dream job for every one their kids and their mom, if someone that is Not an artist decides to try make it big as a musician for fame (or sells out for the maintenance/continual acquisition of fame) then i think theyre also to blame and theyre gonna get (and according to the streams, are getting) whats coming to them ya kno. (note that im not saying Bad Artists, music is subjective but i think its very easy for ppl to recognize on some bare minimum level when someone famous/trendy that puts music out that doesnt have a musical bone in their body, or a vision/idea to express truly) like its late and ive been up since 6 am so im passionate but the adderall is wearing off so im not sure how much sense this makes, but an artist, i feel regardless of most situations, is responsible for what they put out, especially with how easy it is to do the work of a record label pretty much on your own now.

hii feel free to ignore if this is invasive but i kinda need advice! i am still trans identified publicly but in the paat year come to understand myself as a woman again - yet i still feel agonised over the way my body looks. its so hard cos i dont want to be a man, i just wanna look like one, and i have these impulses like once a day when i consider starting T or binding again, if i see an actor or musician that i think is inspiring (i like a lot of female artists and make concious effort to engage but i just dont want to emulate them in the same way) 😐 i cant shake this at all. its not even that i think im Male inside so all the stuff about 'never truly being a man' doesnt help me get rid of these thoughts. neither does telling myself that i wont look like the males i idolise as i know multiple ftms in real life who pass amazingly and that has convinced me i could too. do u have any tips shaking this compulsion? i know hormones and surgery wouldnt be good for my body but its just not getting through

not invasive dw haha. ive had a similar feeling, and for me i think ive narrowed it down to feeling like my female body is going to be perceived a certain way. like for example, if you consider a male musician but then mentally create another musician who is exactly the same in all regards but is visibly female, it feels different. ‘female’ is taken into account as a personality trait almost. and i personally got tired of it and wished i could be considered in a neutral light for all my other traits without the modifier ‘female’ on top of it.

it helps to try to understand the logic behind your feelings because then you can try to counteract it. you cant do much for others considering your female body as a non-neutral thing, but you can try to teach yourself to view it neutrally and understand that other peoples views of it are wrong. when you look at your body, what beliefs about yourself arise? do you feel trapped? do you feel weaker? or try the opposite— if you had a male body, what beliefs about yourself would you have and how do they differ from what you think of yourself now? from there you can begin to tackle any negative connotations you associate with being female that act as barriers to you being happy in your body

thats just whats been working for me so far anyway. im not anything close to a therapist so take it with a grain of salt. hope i was able to help tho

hello angie :DD i am currently reading through your character study again! its very comprehensive so i hope to be able to get as much as I can out of it. also hehe ive noticed a pattern in what sorts of things you seem to enjoy writing about, from what ive read it seems wen kexing n ah xu (idk his name sorry) remind me somewhat of the mother n father from when she calls them down to dinner or perhaps wilfred (fogot) n his husband... but theres not so much erm downer here? anyways i like those things so im glad u can write about things so viscerally !! also i thoroughly enjoyed how u use settings, ghosts n hauntings to explore wen kexing's character. im not sure how much of these images are present in canon but from what i know of cn novels i wouldnt expect it to be too far from canon!

it was very romantic i felt :) particularly the bits about like. letting go and becoming human, becoming properly tangible with ah xu. sort of accepting the incomprehensibility of their becoming if it makes sense? it was so very romantic to me.i particularly enjoyed the bit about gallows and ghosthood and houses? idk it was just so romantic it brought me to tears!! like it is about love!

i dont really know what the ghost or valley is but i enjoyed that u developed it overtime. also i enjoye dhow the story transitions, from wen kexing alone physically n w his thoughts to the ah xu entering his life, filling his memories n changing him. its good for the tone.

like i got the vibes that wen kexing is a ghostly gloomy man. he seems sorta cynical and forsaken but desiring deeply to be whole i think. the heaviness of his burden was conveyed well. from the visceral n shocking scene of eating his fathers corpse a complete inversion of natural order i guess and love . he feels very trapped, always struggling but not quite able to get there alone. i also found ig a struggle within him to just die lol or Not.

particularly i feel wen kexing's decision to cut down the forest in his heart, his perception of himself as a dying tree, among one of the ghosts (being haunted n himself haunting) rlly emphasise that he is stuck and this death looms ever forward

ALSO AAAAH PHYSICIALITY!!! i liked that how its used.. being able to be touched by others to confirm you are a living thing or believe you are but now

anuyways sorry this was long n rambly n nothing but really!! it felt like such a nice love story somehow!!

HELLO DEAR LAB!!Thank you SO MUCH for such a long and thorough and beautiful analysis of my story, i let out a funny sound of joy like 10 times while reading it!!!!! Your perception of the story is pretty much exactly what I was trying to convey with it - i feel a little proud of both of us, and blessed to have a reader as wonderful as you!

In the novel there is a fraction of people called "ghosts" who live in that valley cast away from society, but it's never really explored what that status MEANS for them so this was my take on it - in a way it's canon compliant, but most of the ideas came from my crazy overthinking hehe, I'm really happy you enjoyed! I'm very happy you perceived this story as deeply romantic, because that was the goal - writing about painful things like suicidal ideation, haunting and eating your father's corpse (he does actually do that in the novel OUCH) and having it still be a love story... There is definitely a lot of struggle to Just Die in Wen Kexing. Like Ah Xu explicitly wants to die in the novel and everyone always talks about that, but i also perceived the same in Wen Kexing and felt that that was one of the reasons they were able to connect and wanted to write about it. I'm happy you were able to get such a good grip on his character from my writing alone! I also usually avoid writing about physicality so I'm glad it fit in well here and served the story well !

Please don't apologize for this being long because that made me very happy, and it's definitely not rambly and nothing, it's everything to me! Thank you, dear Lab, for reading my work with such care ♥️♥️♥️♥️

I felt somewhat happy thinking about this, like a carefree type of happy. don’t think you stan txt from what I’ve seen on your blog ( been following you for a while and you’ve reblogged a post or 2 of mine. in love with your mind and your content but anyway ) I was listening to happy fools while doing this. I chose to do cards for this.

1) damn so I was listening to this while shuffling and the first thing that flew out was a card that mostly embodies that song. they see you as someone who’s somewhat laid back. you obviously care about things and what could happen but you’re also not at the same time. they see you as someone who would sit back and enjoy the breeze when everyone else is like panicking about something in the background. it’s that type of energy that I’m getting. they could see you as someone who is always surrounded by loved ones, wether that be online or in real life. always having a get together or hanging out with people.

2) you might stay out of the spotlight in terms of your daily life. they see you as secretive with your life. like you could be dating someone or have a family of your own and they wouldn’t even know endless you randomly mention it one day. people also might be jealous of you and what you’re doing or of your success. I wasn’t really getting a bad feeling or representations ( connotations?? is that the word?? ) from this card like there normally is.

3) it’ll be challenging not gonna lie. there’s obviously going to be ups and downs but it’ll be worth it in the end. but over all I think it’s be an okay experience for you. I wasn’t getting anything major that was bad from this but I sort of felt weary when getting to this part.

I was overall happy when doing this so I think it’ll be okay!! I’m glad I saw this and I’m glad I could do this for you!! I guess I’d have to chose how people would perceive me if I was famous because I don’t really have any questions as of now. My 10th house is in Virgo!!

so im already getting that people would perceive you to be someone who is gone with the wind, if that's the right phrase, you could also be someone who travels a lot or ends up in the most random area. i do feel like people would like who you are and what you bring the table, you could be a musical person? either way the media/public will think of you to be someone who is really cool, calm and collected.

with ur 10h virgo, you might have a sag asc and gemini dsc? which totally makes sense because im currently envisioning someone who is hard to understand or hard to pin down, very adaptable energy is what the audience will think you as. so there could be moments when people wont understand who you are which could annoy some people, especially since we live in a society where people love to put other people in boxes and the media wont be able to do it with you just as quickly as they would want to.

this could make people think that you are a fake person, or someone who doesnt want to show their true identity or as someone who doesnt wear their heart on their sleeves to people they dont know. and one hand of people will understand and respect that while the others wouldnt. even though the media will think of you to be someone who is calm and collected and even easy to get along with, there'll just be some "hard to connect" or hard to get through aura of you.

So I'm getting college stuff ready and went to the actual building today to sign up n all that and one of the required things I had to enter was my pronouns (could only put one tho bc its from options given on a computer yknow) n I'm like. I'm already anxious as hell by that point bc I had a lot of stuff explained to me that did not fully sink in, which I knew would happen so I had my mom come with bc shed help me remember n shit. Anyway I'm not out irl but decided to click they/them anyway for some reason before realizing my mom is Behind Me but I don't know if she even saw it bc she hasn't mentioned it. And referred to me w my "usual" pronouns like 5 seconds after that. So anyway hope that doesnt bite me in the ass later

Totally agree with you about Basket Case being more empathetic than Malignant. I do wonder how much we should take Maddie's judgement of Gabriel at face value tho. James Wan makes a lot of stupid movies, but this one felt very deliberate to me. But more importantly: I need you to know that the hosts of a horror podcast I listen to suggested one of them going as Gabriel for Halloween and the other as Duane with Belial in the basket. And I think this is simply a delightful couple's costume idea

im gonna be real with u i just super dont believe there was enough thought put into the story that we are supposed to perceive the judgments placed on gabriel as the result of like unreliable narration or smth. hes portrayed pretty exclusively as an irredeemable evil. i can give wan credit for having a very specific vision in terms of like the visuals and the big horror elements and the Twist, but when it comes to like the actual writing and messaging there, i think that was way too messy to be like a strategic move on anyones part.

i mean tbh if it did come off as more intentional my assumption wouldnt be like, that maddies relationship with gabriel had some cleverly veiled deeper meaning. my assumption would that there were some super shitty reactionary politics at play. i think im being p generous presuming wan was just kind of a goof who cared more about preserving style and big scary twist over considering the unintended implications of the story he was telling. but i dont know the guy so whatever.

if u came out of the movie feeling like gabriel got some rly shitty treatment fuckin rock on dude me too, but i super doubt it was bc the movie wanted you to feel that way. something something intention vs execution blah blah.

anyway! yeaaaa the way i would kill to go to halloween party in basket case cosplay aaaaa that sounds like a very fun costume idea

danny phantom episode 4-7 Thoughts: (under a readmore because, these got kinda long!)

-the outfit danny had to buy for dash's party. CLASSIC 2000S i cannot stop laughing. And also showing up to the party and everyone is dressed like the trio is hilarious. and further proof that everyone looks good dressed goth.

-dash has a closet full of cute lil bear plushies?? LOVE that. adorable. also his response to danny trashing his room fighting a ghost was SO valid if somone BROKE MY BED IN HALF ID BE PISSED TOO.

-technus being like 'oh smart, u should be a tutor!' then later being like 'forget tutor, be a teacher!' :) supportive king <3 I also really like his upgraded suit/design. AND SPOCK CAMEO??? HELLO??

-the music in this show is super. its so funky. I looked it up and the guy who does it, guy moon (awesome name) also did music for other cartoons like fairly odd parents, barnyard, chalkzone, billy & mandy, AND some actual movies like FIGHT CLUB??? the whiplash I got from reading that)

-sam being rich explains a lot about her, actually.

-I know the moral of the episode was supposed to be 'dont ditch your friends for popular people/spend a lot of money on clothes that arent You to Fit In'. but tbh. it wouldve been easy for danny to have been like 'well, okay, ill come but only if my friends can!' but I get. that hes 14. so. not a lot to say there.

-BOX GHOST IS BACK!!!!! also, danny sitting up and wearing the dress/wig/makeup. umm thats how I dress everyday LMFAO. unironically me. (hate the jokes that boil down to 'haha funney man in dress' tho. but this is a look)

-jazz being protective of her brother once again being like NOOO YOU GUYS BETTER NOT STAKE OUT HIS (actually haunted) LOCKER!! shes aware of how people perceive him and she wants to help :( which is also probably why she told dash to invite him to that party even tho she had no interest in going!! she wants to help him out :(

-gotta say im with tucker on the whole 'should danny use his powers to get back at bullies' debate. 100% yes. let him teach kids to fight back. making dash throw his food at paulina out of the blue? no. but when hes actually about to pick on someone? yeah! for self defense? YEAH! if dash and his friends just threw food at him, I think rather than. idk doing sneaky shit with frogs he couldve just threw it back and not pulled punches if they tried to fight. I kNOOWWW its a kids show so they are like 'if u fight back ur just as bad!! violence bad!!' but. theyre HIS POWERS. WHO CARES.

-like my only gripe is that dash really isnt LEARNING ANYTHING WHEN DANNY GETS BACK AT HIM IN THE MOST PETTY INDIRECT WAYS. whatever they had to add a bully psa episode I guess. I hate it and I hate the way cartoons usually handle it because these methods simply Do Not Work. 'aND YouRE USinG YOur poWErs FOR EVill???!' this is Not Evil. even when poindexter takes dannys body, theyre only being 'nice' bc hes stealing soda for them!! bitches deserve what they get (nothing too brutal bc theyre high schoolers but damn, if they pick on danny he doesnt need to be the 'bigger person' he needs to start biting people)

-SAM TRYING TO SMUGGLE FROGS OUT OF THE BIO LAB?? girl in middle school when we had to dissect frogs we could opt out, also, they came to us already dead and preserved...

-the DENTIST BEING EXCITED ABOUT THE COTTON CANDY FLOOD IS THE FUNNIEST THING SO FAR.

-I LOOOVE the trope of 'wishes gone wrong'. not crazy about the stereotypical genie, or the use of the dreamcatcher looking design. (also, I KNOW theyre scientists but the way theyre handling a cold...are the fentons ANTIVAX)

-the genie. she. whitewished paulina. JKASDFHKJ. (the ghost literally just being hello kitty???? im dying) 'why do i feel that im special and wonderful? because I AM! <3' paulina ilu self worth queen. felt bad for her also getting possessed by (2) boys later who were arguing INSIDE HER. WTF.

-imagine being the guy trapped in his now flying car. he thought danny and tucker were HALUCINATIONS. imagine being trapped in a flying car with two, what you think are imaginary arguing 14 year olds convinced ur gonna die. i WOULD say this dude is gonna need so much therapy, but he seemed totally fine and excited when they landed (I would be happy too if a chicken was on my head. chickens rule) stoner rights

-I think desiree's backstory is so :( do all ghosts have messed up sad backstories?? poindexter's was sad too...cannot imagine box ghost has any kind of fucked up backstory. but what if. his mom got pushed off cliffs by boxes...........a la cruella... anyway her 'no man may lay a hand on me' iconic. ilu

-its really. well its not a GOOD THING he went into the portal and got fucked up, but its good danny was the one to do it rather than sam or tucker. because even tho he was being influenced by desiree and kept getting more malicious and it prob wasnt 100% him...he sucked as a ghost like most the people he 'pranked' were innocent ppl just Chillin and he didnt want to help anyone at all. DUDE. when I was 14...shit I couldn't be out that late, I had to be back at like, 8 at the latest, and my parents had to know exactly where and who I was going with, AND i had to call/text them regularly...is this a case of my parents being overbearing, or the fentons sucking??? the only time i could EVER be out that late was if I was at an overnight sleepover or smth...

-mr. fenton knew vlad was controlling him, but a few episodes ago he had no clue danny was doing the same thing...is it something about how malicious the ghost is?? he just seemed to think his memory had gaps the first time, this time he was INSTANTLY LIKE 'GHOST'. then again in this ep when danny did it again he was just slightly confused but not immediately freaking out like he did with vlad possessing him!!

-sorta unrelated, but it just occurred to me in one of these eps they go to casper HIGH not casper middle school??? theyre 14?? dont highschools usually do ages 15-18? (I didnt go to hs so I might be wrong, if I am ignore this...) freshmen are usually 14-15, could just be a case of them not turning 15 yet but they will sometime in the school year (I say they because tucker said he was 14 too)? I know the show has 3 seasons, so by the end of it will they be older? thatd be neat but usually cartoon characters stay the same age...I love shows where you can see the characters age and grow up, though...three seasons seems like a long time to spend on like, 1 year...

requested | some gender neutral hc for how he starts to wish he was maybe more than just a guard to you

to put things lightly, minho was the ace of your entire guard

like he was better than anyone …at everything

so originally he was on (your father) the king’s immediate guard

he was nothing but professional and saved the king too many times to count even from like stepping on rocks idk

when you turned like 17 and had to do more public appearances obv u were in a lot more danger so ur father jumped at having minho reassigned to u as the head of your personal guard “nothing but the best for his child”

the first time you met him… he only nodded or said yes or no to everything u asked him n ur jus like ok not much of a talker that’s not so bad ig haha ʕʘ‿ʘʔ

he was so quiet and “polite” for months despite you constantly trying to get something out of him

ur other guards always tried not to laugh bc if only u knew he had like two friends and was generally a pretty serious guy

but one day there was a festival in your kingdom’s central city so obv you had to make an appearance which u were very excited abt bc you only get to go into town like twice a year and THIS was one of those times

being “of age” and that much closer to taking the throne you might as well have painted a big red target on your head to signal people against the throne

everything was going fine, everyone was having fun and you decided to visit some of the booths and musicians around the square

minho was already suspicious of the situation and tightens the rest of your guard without u evenn rlly noticing but like

just as you turned to show these cute little candies to minho to maybe get a reaction for once -

the second he looks at you, someone moves to grab you but the flash of a knife in his other hand causes minho to jump immediately into action

honestly who knows what rlly happened minho moved so damn fast but the next thing you know, ur in the middle of your whole guard squad

looking through the gaps of their shoulders you see minho pinning down your assailant with a blade against his neck waiting for someone to arrest him even though he rlly wanted to just execute the guy right there

the festivities were kind of killed for u after that bc you and your family were rushed back home which u might’ve been more sad abt if u werent in so much shock :<

obv minho was the one to escort you back but like all he said was “you’re okay?” and after u dumbly nodded with wide eyes he walked with you but kept a hand around your shoulder

no one really talked after that which wasn’t unusual for him but in his mind he was rlly like

“?? ok i know its literally my job to protect this family but?? hm whyyyy do i seem to care sm more rnnn??//?” help him sdhskjd

u just looked so shaken up and disappointed and suddenly he was like damn </3 they rlly have no fun in their life and this one time they could was ruined :///

u had to stay inside for weeks after that bc it turns out there was a whole conspiracy to “eliminate” your family line so you waited in safety until the criminals were “taken care of”

minho had everything triple checked around the castle for your safety and secretly made sure you had extra treats and warm drinks sent to your room sometimes with little notes that he had the cook pretend to have sent because lately he’d heard you had trouble sleeping sometimes he’s shy boy aw

he started to realize how much he had gotten used to your smile and your little jokes and the way you sometimes tripped on the corners of rugs. and he thought maybe it was a good thing you guys didnt have many interactions lately because he was way too attached

you on the other hand, couldnt even rlly complain about having to stay inside so much bc you had everything you needed and- you knew it was for ur safety but- it wassss kind of suffocating at times

u tried sneaking out at first ((just to the garden!!)) which obviously was a bad idea bc it’s impossible to get past minhos fcking hawk eyes lmao

he STILL didnt say anything like he would just follow right behind you

n like u kinda huffed but whatever honestly at least it was just him and not 15 other guards like everyone acted like you needed

plus it was somewhat comforting to have someone so solid around even if he never talked smh

one night you sat near the little pond and tried to calm your mind by watching how the moonlight rippled in the water

you can feel him behind you so u just turn around and look at him ignoring how he was already looking at you

“would you at least sit with me?”

he kind of hesitates bc …what if someone tried to come up behind you? but with the sad look on your face he cant help but give in and sits on the stone bench at the opposite end of you

it becomes actually somewhat peaceful until you just decide to ask everything you’ve been wondering n u just blurt out-

“would it kill you to talk with me once in a while? i mean, talk like a normal person and not a machine? i dont bite i promise..”

he furrows his brow bc he’s shocked you cared at all and also he doesnt rlly know how to respond without being like “its not really in my job description to make conversation” but he honestly just thought you were being talkative out of niceties.

before he could even form a sentence you continued,

“i mean- i’m always trying to get your attention. i dont get to meet many people for obvious reasons but my guards are the closest people to me-literally, and i dont want there to be a big gap between us just because of my status..”

he cuts you off before you ramble yourself to death

“i didn’t know you were this troubled by it… i just take my job very seriously and i dont want to risk anyone’s safety for the sake of conversation”

u almost roll ur eyes but not wanting to be rude ur just like “even at home? i know you’re serious about your duties, believe me, i just… i get lonely.”

smthing inside him literally breakkkssss when you say that like u are such a pure and sweet person that deserves to have all the love and friends and fun in the world so he just gets quiet for a second and looks down

“im sorry.” he said it so softly you almost didnt hear him “i’ll be there for you more- if thats what you need. im essentially in charge of your safety and care and i’ll do anything to fulfill that responsibility.”

ok.

well this was good right? so why did you still feel unsatisfied?

“i dont want to just be a responsibility, cant we just be like friends? or…”

you cut yourself off before talking too much again

you had to admit to yourself you had developed a bit of a liking for minho, not just because he was probably the most handsome person in your kingdom, not even just because he saved your life, but he had really been a pillar of security in your life and you respected his loyalty and ambition.

he was more than admirable and everything you wanted as a standard for your kingdom

sometimes you let your mind wander to him getting on one knee and leading alongside you..

no, now youre getting sidetracked and delusional and he can practically hear the gears turning in your head so he stands up and reaches his hand out for you to grab

“of course you’re more than a responsibility to me, come on, lets go inside it’s getting cold.’

taking his hand and realizing the conversation was over, you moved to link arms instead as he walked you all the way to your bedroom door

u slept a lot better that night

from that point on you could not get rid of minho

like everyone was borderline uncomfortable with how jarring his change in attitude was

like he was constantly behind you looking right over your shoulder or grabbing your arm to stop you from bumping into things

even when he wasnt technically on duty he had taken it upon himself to give you little lessons in archery and even some defensive moves to help you protect yourself in case someone wasnt fast enough to help you

your tried not to get flustered every time he adjusted your form and the way you could feel his breath behind your ear

or the head pats when he walked you to your room at night

or his hand on your back when you guys would take walks in the garden

honestly it did not take long until one night you were sat next to your pond and after some comfortable small talk you noticed how close his face was to yours

but he noticed you didn’t pull away even as he leaned in closer and finally just kissed you

when he pulled away and saw your eyes still closed and how soft you looked his heart almost exploded

“i didnt mean to make things weird i just,, couldnt help myself, sorry”

his rushed confession pulls you out of your daze and you’re so happy (a little shocked) but you’re quick to reassure him

“it’s ok, i’ve been wanting you to do that for a while …”

he’s jus like “rlly?😳”

obviously this complicates things a lot and you aren’t really sure if you would even be allowed to have a relationship with minho bc of ur position

or if he would get in trouble for breaking the rules of attachment to u

all of this is kind of racing thru both of ur minds as you look at each other but you laugh after u both start talking at the same time

you prod him to go first so he grabs your hands and says like

“look i care about you a lot, and i know we’re not really supposed to be doing this but if i can be by your side … beyond my duties…i would really love to. but if we can’t, i can survive with just being here to protect and serve you in anyway i can”

he’s so honest and genuine and earnest it shocked u a little

even tho you were uncertain abt the situation as well you knew you had grown a little too fond and dependent on minho that you would do anything to make it work

luckily an arranged marriage was not required for you so that wasnt really the issue, but falling in love with someone not at all royal..? it was a daunting thought how the idea would be perceived

you wouldnt have said anything if you both weren’t completely sure of your feelings; but you really could not imagine being content or safe spending your life with anyone else so you mustered up the courage to ask the king and queen…

when you brought it up to your parents they looked pretty concerned

minho went on the whole “i’ll do anything to protect them and this kingdom” speech and your father just waved him off and was like

“i know u would …. i’ll allow it because there’s really no one better to represent the kingdom and because i want only the best for my child ;)”

u and minho were literally in shock but just quietly said thank u and left the room

when you had privacy he immediately pulled you in for a kiss (maybe several all over ur face)

you had a lot to figure out and many responsibilities but now you had an amazing person by your side to help you through it :.) <3

fuckin rambling about jamie & gender at 2:30 am bc im mentally ill

i always think about nb jamie but probably bc im projecting but isnt that what fiction is for anyways?? i wanna talk about she/they jamie slash why she kind of is nb but also is into she/her nbism bc she fought so hard to be a woman tbh

i think shes rly proud of being a woman in a feminist way and in a lesbian way. the way her brother blamed the women in the family for their problems. being dehumanized/defeminized in prison. being a woman doing physical labour. being a masc woman. the community of women she was most likely around in london when she was struggling to survive. finding safety in other women. finding pride in being one of them, in loving them. the world wanted her to be ashamed of being a woman, and a woman who likes women, and she fought so hard against that to stand her ground and be exactly that.

but she is so... idk, not defined by her gender? shes like Not A Girl. politically a woman. maybe im projecting but its how i feel too. ur adling along being genderless and suddenly ur up against men and heteronormative society and you want to oppose it and stand up and say im a woman what are you gonna do about it???? yeah i can look like this and act like this and deeply threaten your masculinity for reasons you cant grasp and then shove my womanhood in your face about it, and you cant even have me the way u want to have other women, nor do you want me. you cant figure out how to dominate me because im not really a woman, but making you perceive me as a woman fucks you up harder.

thats so powerful. i think thats so jamie.

we get so much of jamies head and heart but we dont get anything in relation to her body or her sexuality which is so interesting.

with dani we tackle her sexuality and femininity head on, she expresses her gender in a feminine way.

we get none of that with jamie because honestly when she's dealing what she's dealing with in the present of the show, it doesnt matter. only matters up against peter. and with her back story.

we dont know her relationship with her body and physical gender and sexuality in that way. and i suppose thats to say its not important to her. she doesnt really pay it any mind. which is why she wouldnt actively go by she/they or seek it out. but if she happened upon it she'd be like oh yeah i suppose thats me, huh. and then move on. doesnt change anything for her.

and i can sculpt this entire complex JAMIE out of all this, and obviously it doesnt matter, but the only piece i have no clue about right now is her dynamic w sex. i just find it interesting to dig into a character through every aspect, see them through every lens.

i think she likes it. she was SO intense in that first make out with dani it was kind of beautiful. she is so much.

yeah i suppose shes as sexual as anyone else. probably vanilla honestly. she likes boring.

i like the idea in fics that she's talkative. it fits. she talks a lot when she feels safe around someone or when she cares about something a lot. shes good at talking. shes also good at listening.

anyways in conclusion im in love with her what else is new

Like, it’s all typical eldritch horror from the farthest ring (in tiger kitty form) but Chuuya’s IMMEDIATELY trying to give the giant fluffball chin scratches. Also also I like to imagine that Dazai’s ability works. About as well as it works on Lovecraft? So he gives his dramatic speech and turns around and expects to no sell the tiger when it hits him because Atsushi would just turn back, right? Right??? (Nyanon, 2/7)

But no, that doesn’t happen, and Dazai gets whacked with five hundred pounds of fluff. And I’d imagine that Atsushi is a Baby Abomination, so he doesn’t always have good control? Usually around the full moon, hence the ADA trying to find him. Anyways, listen, no one can say no to pictures of tiger kitten Atsushi. If they try, Fukuzawa will find them. And when he does... Well, no one knows what he does to them, but everyone ends up with a love of cats, especially ones with stripes. (Nyanon, 3/7)

Moving on, though- I’m glad you liked this AU! It’s mainly just a cute, feel good kinda thing, with some “Atsushi and Dazai pseudo-raising Kyouka together” thrown in for good measure. I could definitely imagine her making her tiny surrogate parents a tiny room to share together? Like, you know those little fairy houses, or the little books made in shelves and drawers? That kinda thing! And if there’s only one bed... Well, what’re they gonna do, yell at her for being thoughtful? (Nyanon, 4/7)

But, moving on (again) to my next, technically not new since I’ve mentioned it before, AU Concept: The Monochromatic Moonlight AU! I don’t think I’ve said much on it, but to pull off a quick summary- At the age of either eleven or twelve, Atsushi’s ability goes haywire due to the abuse he suffered from and Shibusawa’s influence. This is something that even Dazai can’t reverse, once they meet, so he’s stuck in his “monstrous” halfway form. (Nyanon, 5/7)

His sclera are yellow and his irises are violet, and his skin is paler and striped with black, like a tiger. In addition, his hands and feet resemble paws, even possessing paw pads and claws, a pair of ears has replaced his human ones, he has the tail of a tiger, and much of his body is covered in a soft layer of white and black fur. This means that he can’t even try to blend in with others without almost completely covering himself up- Or at least, he doesn’t think he can. (Nyanon, 6/7)

He thinks he looks horrifying. And with nowhere to go back to, all he can do is... Well, wander. And along the way, he picks up other people who are unwanted. I don’t have too many solid people, yet, outside of Lucy and Kyouka, but I know that everyone decides to go by animal names. Because I want them to. Sorry for rambling, by the way, this AU is. honestly? i’ll start by saying: noct’s body dysphoria is pretty minimal. AGAIN i’ve stated before but 90% of his dysphoria is social / related to how people perceive him, and generally by the time you’re in a sexual relationship with someone they pretty much know you’re a guy so he rarely feels dysphoric in relationships especially if he’s with someone who is super SUPER understanding about gender / is even trans themselves. remmeber kids!! trans ppl can love their bodies!! gender euphoria exists!

so when it comes to sex! i would said it’s honestly pretty normal. like as you’d expect. though there r some things a little particular about them:

> noct prefers to stay clothed waist up. again his breasts r like. the one part of himself he gets antsy about, so his preferred mode of dress for sex is baggy tshirt! on the worst days he’ll probably try to get away wearing a binder (dont do this dont work out in binders please dont dont be like noct) or some kinda sports bra. i would say that his chest is a no - go when having sex UNLESS he gives express permission / touches there himself!

i got real sad yesterday bc i chatted w some dutch kpoppie on twt who mentioned she was in a feminist org and i know its also bc i had to take my meds by that time but i was like ;____; started sobbing bc i want to do smth useful, smth activist bc i want to do some good but idk how or where, like i dont know any social groups abt activism in my town, nd also idk if i rly will want this bc every time im in a social group of any kind there will be some conflict and then i feel embarrassed abt myself for saying smth dumb nd i dont want to be seen anymore. anyway then she asked where i live nd she asked around and got recommended two q***r groups, which was not what i wanted at all and idk what id get out of joining either of them bc one of the two just means youre gonna watch movies once in a while in some place and the other initkative i know of bc ive been invited to their events so far, which were both times k*nk parties, which had for some reason public evemt pages on facebook. like i declined and they understood bc they wouldnt like that either. but just urgh i hate how to do something u need to be social bc i dont want to be, i hate being perceived and getting into argumentsband saying dumb stuff. and i especially dont want to go to a place which labels itself q***r and either has mainly k*nk parties or movie watching and is inclusive of cishet ace ppl. like i dont want to meet random ass ppl i dont know! but sadly thats what u gotta do to mobilize ppl for activism! and also i still dont know what mobilizing means i dont know what to do w the union im part of, i keep missing information, and just urgh i wanna do something but i also hate doing stuff bc things take effort and time and the social part is the worst of it all
