Self Care for a Golden Retriever

Walks!!!

Go for a walk around your local area! Bonus if you can go with a friend. Even better if you can go to a park and hang out a bit!!

Treats

If you eat meat, get your hands on some beef jerky! If you want to make a fun craft out of it, you can learn to make beef jerky at home! I've done this and tasting that first bite is so rewarding

Sunbathe

Lay in the grass on a sunny/partly cloudy day and just chill! feel the earth beneath you and the sun on your face. If its too hot to do this comfortably, you can lay in the cool shade under a tree! Dogs often do this to thermoregulate or just relax when they're outside!

Stretches/Yoga

Do some common stretches people do on all fours! Cat-cow, Downward dog, upward dog, etc.

Gratitude Journaling

Write down things in your life you're grateful for. It can be anything! Your friends, the weather, anything that you're glad to have in your life!

Spend Time With Other Dogs

Whether it be another therian or a pet, spend some time hanging out with other dogs!

Things for birdkin when you're missing home

Journaling

Give journaling a try. Write about your shifts, describe your wings and draw a picture of what they look like, wax poetic about the trees or rocks you used to call home.

Tea

If you enjoy tea, make some tea using edible, aromatic herbs from your habitat. I personally find earthy taste and familiar scent VERY soothing

Oil Diffusers/Incense

Burn some incense or diffuse some essential oils made with plants that are from your habitat. It really makes your space feel like home. (Be sure to always have a window open when burning incense!)

Go outside and find a green space

This can be anything from a local park, to a forest. Have a technology break and go on a walk surrounded by trees and grass. If you can ride a bike, that's even better, because it feels closer to flying!

Have a daily ritual

Put some time aside each day to connect to your kintype in some way. Whether it be meditating with some candles, a warm bath with some nature sounds playing on your phone, cooking something your kintype would eat, or just some mindful stretching. Connecting and grounding yourself can be very helpful when it comes to destressing
