context: my bf adores giacomo so we have a crack au about all the teams being nightclubs that giacomo visits to guest dj. club galactic has industrial atmosphere with heavy use of lights. it's very popualr with young, queer club kids. cyrus is the owner and dj of club galactic. saturn, jupiter, and mars are his biggest fans who always dance at the front and bring their dj water bottles and towels for after the show.

Yeah, this is about what I expected heh- If there's anything everyone agreed on, it was that YOU MUST RESPECT PEOPLE'S BOUNDARIES. NO IFS ANDS OR BUTS. i don't want to sway the votes so i won't do any propaganda for them after the poll starts BUT it's Wu Zetian/Li Shimin/Gao Yizhi from Iron Widow i just love the way their relationship develops so much and as someone whos unable to actually pick up a book and focus on it, the fact that i read iron widow in 4 days is amazing im still proud of that as silly as it is

yknow what ill use this as an opportunity to ramble about them askdgakdjk spoilers ahead but ill try to keep the major stuff out

for context the book has pacific rim style mechas, but instead of being drift compatible or whatever its usually a male pilot and his concubine whose life force he usually drains in order to pilot the thing, but theres a LOT of propaganda that makes girls want to be concubines, or families might wanna send their daughters for the money. im simplifying it a LOT especially cause theres more info u only learn later on as zetian herself finds out but anyway

at the start of the book zetian and yizhi are besties who obviously have feelings for each other. zetian is poor while hes very rich so their friendship is kind of a secret and they meet in the woods which i think is cute, point is its p clear zetian tries to mantain a distance, not allowing herself to admit her feelings. for reasons i wont say zetian decided to become a concubine to one of the like bigger more badass guys even if she doesnt believe the propaganda and knows she might die, she only tells yizhi this the day before

he shows up at her house the next day begging her family to let him marry her?????? which is sweet because he wants to protect her but that isnt gonna work bestie sorry she's a woman w a mission

so anyway she goes to the concubine thing and shes surprisingly powerful "for a girl" which yeah thats a super common trope but shes so much more than just the strong protagonist. shes extremely powerful in every sense of the word imo and i love her so much and i wish the world hadnt been so cruel that she had to become so strong. but anyway the guy she wants to pilot w picks her. MAJOR SPOILER they have to pilot the mecha on day 1 cause they're under attack and uhhh she kills him lol lmao she drains her life force instead which supposedly is UNHEARD OF

so they cant just kill her off cause that'd look bad instead they send her to be the concubine of the strongest guy (all of his concubines die after 1 fight) and thats Li Shimin my beloved my little meow meow hes looked down on and kinda treated like an animal cause hes a criminal and the only reason he gets to be a pilot is his powerful qi. anyway shes forced to live w him and turns out hes just a lil guy. like hes very big and scary looking but hes just a tired man pls he needs a break. she fucking survived piloting w him which nobody expected. so now theres a lotta stuff going on i wont get into but some ppl arent happy w this duo cause they're both very powerful and not exactly happy to serve. and Shimin has a drink problem.

IN ENTERS GAO YIZHI hes back babey!!! and he decides to help shimin w his alcoholism. its funny cause when they first meet his crush on li shimin is so fucking obvious zetian is like "huh i always suspected he liked guys too" but li shimin is just pissed cause this is the guy who wants to make him stop drinking

theres like 1 moment of jealousy that i can remember when li shimin realizes zetian and yizhi have a thing going on but its settled very quickly and they all kiss.

back to the drift compatible thing: at one point in the final battle zetian and shimin need more power and yizhi literally lends them his qi (its extremely rare for a third person to help) and its beautiful and they are so in love and i cant wait for the sequel

idk if any of that is coherent i kinda stopped thinking and just typed sorry for rambling on ur ask im just very passionate about them i love them so much i love iron widow so much i love xiran jay zhao so much (the writer) (you might know them from the live action mulan analysis video that went viral back when that movie came out) (check out their yt channel)

theres like, two levels of “playersexual”.

the first is the authors making all the romance options bi, which. like technically it can often stem from the same mechanical reasoning as “true” playersexuality (omfg im gatekeeping?????), that its easier, more efficient, or more equitable to just have all the options available to any character setup. in that sense theyre absolutely taxonomically related, but from a semantic and ethical point of view it seems kinda dogshit to reduce textually bi (one way or another, theres a lotta ways to do that) people to a mere practical development choice? like dude i think that characters just bisexual its kinda fucking wierd to frame his ability to be attracted to [character in context thats not the pc’s gender] and also romance the player character as some sort of “lazy writing shortcut”.

the second is far more nebulous as it exists more in what is LACKING than what is there. the anomalous ‘real’ “oh actually this was just a studio being either programming/writing lazy or like. genuinely just bizzare on a spiritual level”. skyrim romance is roughly egalitarian in implementation but there is effectively 0 external queers aside from two dead guys on an island and Possibly this one vampire from the morthal quest who seems like shes grooming a child? its a world absent of same-gender relationships but incapable of recognizing the player as anything extraordinary in that respect. romanceable npcs showing attraction to other npcs is rare in general, even, though going back over it in my head my initial presumption of it being completely absent is verifiably false. i think. ANYWAYS this theoretically would also include characters whose textual sexuality CHANGES to match the player character, which -discounting allowances for potential watsonian mischaracterization (i.e. a character being labeled gay by an unreliable commentator in a save in which they end up in a same-gender relationship, and other such things) can show up in really weird ways like ok in stardew valley i’m not actually saying Leah’s ORIENTATION necessarily changes but her ex’s gender specifically changing to match the player is SO FUCKING WIERD WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT. LIKE WHAT IS THAT EVEN IMPLYING?! WHUH?!!?

#ITD MAKE SO MUCH MORE SENSE IF THAT PRICK WAS ALWAYS A MAN #LIKE EVEN ASIDE FROM THE ‘BEING A CONSERVATIV-Y BASTARD’ LOOKING FUCKING *ODD* ON THIS SAPPHIC LADY #WHO’D. NOTICE.#IT TAKES ACTIVELY LESS EFFORT #INSTEAD LEAH USED TO DATE LESBIAN BEN SHAPIRO ITS. SO JARRING ITS OK FOR HER PREVIOUS RELATIONSHIP TO BE WITH A DUDE THATS FINE #oh also theres monika. shes the third type i guess. shes just completely literal about it #<- i actually don’t agree with that tbh i think framing her love for the player as wholly in-line with any practical means of attraction #defeats some of the point of the story. the affection is parasocial to a saddening extent #unable to see into ‘true’ reality shes instead left trying to chase the shadow of ‘the player’ on the wall of the cave #aware of its falsehood but unable to reach any farther past that fourth wall #in the wake of her realization she’s bound to concede any ‘fictional’ preconceptions of attraction just as she abandoned her preconceptions #of her friends. as people. its all just fluff. set dressing. in the way of her TRUE love. her REAL love.#an ultimate reality that supercedes any mere program or line of text that isn’t aware of it #all this despite her actual -both fictional and practical- inability to REALLY interact with reality on reality’s terms #alienated from her own fictitious existence to the point of manipulating it and abusing it in the style of a ‘real’ author #but still left incapable of actually accessing the agency freedom senses indignities and mortality of REALITY #��.. SORRY IM A BIT FUCKED UP OVER DOKI DOKI LITERATURE CLUB STILL I UH. HAVE SOME FEELINGS. THERE.

ok ok so if you like relating characters to classical myths…… what parallels do you think jet star makes?

ooooh okay, so, this was actually pretty hard to answer! theres a lot of characters where the parallels just jump out at me immediately and make so much sense in my brain and jts all just like. perfect (like party and icarus for example) but like, with jet ive never really given him much thought in relation to myths like this. i think bc hes already so intrinsically linked with the stars and the sky in my brain, i sort of see that connection as sort of the ultimate like. motif within his character. i never really related him to any other stories or anything like that bc hes always just been the sky and the stars to me

HOWEVER upon thinking about him with the specific context of classical muths in the mond, i have developed some Thoughts about... orpheus and eurydice. i know, i know, not really what i expected either but just hear me out okay

the story of orpheus and eurydice has always been one of my favorites; im a sucker for a good tragic love story yk? and ive always thought of jet star's character as, first and foremost, someone just filled with the most pure and genuine love for the world and everything around him. he falls in love with the stars and the sky as a kid because of stories his mother tells him, or because its the one constant in his ever changing life, or just bc he sees it as natures way of painting, of making art. he loves his crew in a similar way, where he sees them all as these sort of beautiful works, like these fucking blessings in his life that he never thought hed really get to have

he loves party and ghoul and kobra and the girl, and he loves his home, the desert, and the color and life that it brings. and so hes willinv to fight for them a till the ends of the earth, to hell and back

orpheus fails in his quest to get eurydice back, but i think the reason for exactly why is up to interpretation. maybe he doesn't trust that the deal he made was real, that she was ever behind him to begin with. maybe he turns around out of fear thats shes lost, or thats shes given up, or because shes begging him to look at her and he cant explain why he cant. wether or not jet star ultimately fails in his goals of saving his home and his family are also up gor debate, but i feel like no matter what he would consider himself to be a failure because he couldn't save everyone. i think he goes into bli's headquarters to pull his little girl out from hell, and hes so so sure that even if he doesnt make it, everyone else or at least someone else will along with the girl. he is going to save them all because thats what he does, he saves the ones he loves, he protects them and he goes down fighting.

and maybe as hes running towards desert with the girl and he chances a look back, thats when it fully hits them that no ones behind him like he thought theyd be. he failed and hes alone and suddenly hes eurydice falling behind the girl who trusts him to follow, and maybe hes icarus in a way, too, different from how party is because he chooses to fall instead

idk these were just my initial thoughts. just a whole lotta word vomit bc its like 1 a.m. and this is the first time ive ever really thought abt this in depth lol i might wake up tomorrow and completely disagree with all of this and write a response abt my ACTUAL answer to ur question (either way i will probably talk more abt jet and myths later bc i can im gonna be thinking abt this A LOT and im gonna have more to say later)

but yeah enjoy my thought process bc i was basically writing this down as shit came to me lmao

LOSE YOU - DS:Blue (2019) A PMV that covers Damian X Kayas relationship! They are Daichis parents and from DS:Blue! More context under the cut if you want it!

VIDEO DESCRIPTION/CONTEXT: Firstly this video starts at the end so this context starts from the middle! Also because boy theres a lotta lil things this video is like a rapid gloss over the whole of these guys because if I drew every single thing about them in one go bOY HOWDY nOPE Damian and Kaya meet in a library in highschool in their earlier years- When needing help finding a book he asks Kaya who helps him out but at the same time baby boy crushes hard instantly. Damian tells this to his best friend Kyle and essentially he's hella supportive/best wingman- Damian and Kaya grow closer over time and Kaya and Kyle even become best friends as well! Later on towards their senior year Damians home life turns pretty bad and so he ends up staying with Kyle. Prom comes round and ofc everyones getting ready and the happy trio goes together (DamianXKaya while Kyle comes along for fun with them and goes off later to enjoy the party) later on Kaya invites Damian to stay over for the night and they get to talking about her own home life it sucks ot because her parents just really arent around and are very business orientated folks so she kinda is just alone a lot. They get to talking and get closer and in time they graduate highschool. Move out into an apartment and eventually (its pretty small and Damians clumsy as hell) move into a house! While Damians working construction Kaya is doing college as part of a deal she struck with her parents however after a mixup with taking some antibiotics (for an infection) and birth control (which she missed a pill) she realizes shes pregnant whICH while they did want kids eventually- the timing for her to get pregnant was poor. They decide to have the baby and get ready for that- tell Kyle who is super excited but also surprised initially for the same reasons as them. Damian works more and more to make sure they have enough money but at the cost of straining/damaging his wrist. They eventually have baby Daichi and things are looking good! Unfortunately (start) the house they live in (which is old) goes on fire and starts to crumble down a piece falls on Damian while they're getting out and after Kaya makes sure Daichi is out/safe she tries to go back in to get him ultimately ending with the house coming down entirely on them/the fire and their demise. (Daichis ok tho still!) AND YEA THATS IT

dream started with. being a furry, i think ???

i was sitting on some pole. or no- i was trying to climb this bullshit pole, way too difficult, pain and suffering, but i manage eventually. and then everyone has to leave for a bit? someone offers to sit on the pole while they go (i don't know why, maybe it was like a watchtower?) but i say i won't be able to get back up if i go down so i stay

also one of the people i was with was uraraka from mha and i think being on the pole was a furry thing. uraraka was a furry at some point at least

idk how it transitioned to this, but some kinda abandoned looked building, unstable structure but we were in it and i was fighting a guy

a girl (evil girl) walked up and her quirk was being able to detach her eyes? so i stole her eyes and threw it at the guy i was fighting. she was on his side and kept trying to tell him what i was doing, idk if he was blind? but i kept picking up her eyeballs (they felt like thin plastic balls) and throwing them at him

somehow i win and go upstairs where there's like. a Lotta injured people at various level of injury. i think theyd been fighting too?

at some point there was something with a pine marten. like we were fighting this thing. i think uraraka and the others were there too. it bit me :( didnt bleed though just left a puncture. we fought it several times for a long time and i barked at it a lot

something about some fields and a farmer, dont remember the context

something about. hogs..? going into what kinda looks like a chicken coop, and the pine marten wants to eat the hogs..??? this was right next to some train tracks, and some guy that mightve been the pine marten was lurking around but it wasnt really important. and then theres just one hog halfway through the door, i look in and theres a guy and no hogs but like 20+ baby goats. i love goats more than life. all the baby goats start running out and i sit down to greet them and they are SO SMOOTH..??? like smooth as if theyd been oiled but they were completely dry, it was very uncomfortable

think thats it. very mild nightmare but it was still a nightmare and fighting the pine marten was stupidly scary

just. dream altering the content in the book so it's so much worse. the contents are now so much more incriminating, and records of events are so much worse than what they actually were. and, if he leaves a note to someone else in l'manburgs cabinet telling them of ranboos book, well, who would know? and if he maybe insinuates to tubbo that the prison would be perfect for a traitor, well, that would just be a fun coincidence wouldnt it?

and if his little brother gets locked up in a prison he paid for, a prison that he knows all about, a prison that he could waltz into and visit the prisoners of at any time? well. his mother wouldn't be happy, but he certainly would be.

design rambling under the cut, you know how i be

orbot

first thing w orbot is i wanted him to be something w wings/the ability to hover since,, i feel like that’s something he’d prefer to keep from his robot form. and it helps him reach the top shelf despite being a short ass. he’s specifically a cinnabar moth mostly bcs their colour palette matches his and also their wings have lil circles on them? kinda perfect for him. cinnabar moths technically have straight antenna but his are curled bcs a) nothing abt him is straight, b) i wanted some more roundness in there.

he gets a waistcoat bcs. how he is. originally i was gonna give him like,, pant shoes where theres no seperation between pants and shoes but ended up going w heeled ankle boots mostly to add a lil more roundness to him bcs it’s still orbot. also glasses! he probably doesn’t need them bcs robot but i think it adds something. big poofy shoulders on his shirt to mimic his robo form.

orbot gets the half bangs over the eye for a few reasons, the biggest being i didn’t wanna copy everyone elses designs and give him a bowlcut (which,, yeah really works), it mirrors rossum’s eye-covering quill (and is literally mirrored onto cubot bcs matching)

cubot

not as much to say since my only thoughts were “make him big” and “make him soft”. he’s based off a flemish giant rabbit. his features are wider and his eyes a lot bigger than his counterpart with some face markings to mimic his old round optics. im not sure if its really noticable but i tried to keep his underbite in bcs,, its cute. hes also still supposed to be hunched but i have like, no idea how to properly convey that w sonic body types.

outfit is a lot more casual than orbot’s - i know it’s typical to have them in matching outfits but thats usually in the context of them still being under eggman and in this au there is no eggman so--. outfit is suposed to be comfortable and practical - big ole stompy boots, a shirt w the sleeves rolled up and shorts bcs it felt weird not giving him pants.

oh also on his bangs i feel like a lotta the time he either pins or gels it back bcs it gets in his eye and is a lil annoying to him.

i think it's especially easy for neurodivergent ppl to blindly follow a community's "rules", especially when they're created by communities that overall have seemingly "good intentions". there isn't that necessary process of criticism, and context is rarely used alongside these "rules".

i randomly joined tumblr way back when, and IMMEDIATELY was like "wow, this is amazing. these ppl care about human rights and want to make the world a better place!" lol. and i began to blindly follow a lot of "rules" and cast a lot of judgements without thinking. it was pretty easy to do, considering i'd left places like youtube where (hatespeech and prejudice ideas are really common). tumblr seemed like paradise.

sure enough, i found myself saying things like "i hate men" (im he/they), "i hate white ppl" (im white), "i hate cis ppl". etc etc etc. it's really easy to like... passionately want change. and think the groups you're supporting are always right.

it's easy to make blanket statements... to follow "rules" without thinking? when your intentions are "good". i just wanted actual equality. the culture i was involved in said "these ppl are at fault, we need to change them to fix things". so i went along with it. i didn't think. i wanted to be "good".

but what about male allies. what about trans men. what about WHITE allies... do some of u gays REALLY not have a single cis person you're friends with? sorry, but theres a lotta ppl that fall into these groups who are ABSOLUTELY lovely. and also on your side.

and yet here you are, blogging about how much you hate them. throwing them under the bus based on the color of their skin, their gender, or their prefs.

just bc racist/sexist/transphobes commonly call out tumblr as a "place of hate" to try and justify their OWN hate (u know the tactic)? doesn't justify what we're doing. many of tumblr's "rules" and widespread beliefs? are inherently prejudist.

and neurodivergent ppl can just... eat this stuff up. me personally? i'm ALWAYS having to ask others "is this okay" or "am i doing this right"? it's really hard to make confident decisions on my own. so i would see "rules" as a godsend. something to trust in.

not realising that the same type of authoritarian, control-freak mentalities that exist in like... government? are also in these marginalised communities.

not to call anyone out, but i ran into yet another person with an absolutely silly dni today (ftr they seemed like a rly sweet, at most confused, younger person doin their best). but they literally were like "if someone i follow is bad, please lmk"... like? while on the surface that might seem like "oh i wanna know if someone i rb from is a secret terf" etc? i can't help but see it as "i dont know the rules! plz tell me the rules!!! i wanna do the right thing". bc i'm sorry. i see this stuff too much from atypical peeps.

there was a lot of confusing stuff in this dni. another being "if you believe there can be racism against white ppl, please dni" (the user claimed to be white btw). like... honestly? this one makes me wanna scream. bc what ppl call "racism" is usually just "prejudice". and YES prejudice actually DOES happen against white folk. your statement is an example. seriously tired of marginalised communities excusing their prejudices simply bc they're poc or gay or just whatever. like if you CHOOSE to make excuses for why hating someone based on their race or gender or sexuality is okay? you're excusing prejudice.

it even gets extra silly w the less serious "rules". like i'll see things like "no self-shipping" (its fictional), "no problematic character love" (its fictional), "you must set up/format your blog in this way" (its not your say, so if u dont like someones blog just unfollow/block omg). just a lotta weird "rules" where i KNOW these ppl got em from other cutthroat, authoritarian, self-proclaimed "good people". "no racists" is a rule that makes sense. but "no vtuber shipping"??? are... are u kidding? u know that anime youtubers are designed to be horny, right? lol... i just see a lotta stuff. too much demonizing and over WHAT? it's ridiculous.

PLEASE! for the love of GOD just TRY and use context and individual judgement. and i say this ESPECIALLY to other neurodivergent ppl. bc i get that it's really hard for ppl like us. but...

i guess i'm just tired of seeing so much hate being disguised as justice and love. and i'm tired of atypical ppl's trust being taken advantage of. i'm tired of blind rulefollowing. if tumblr communities should teach you anything, it's to be critical and analytical of morality. i know it can be difficult, but please just THINK.
