monodeku fic idea for its like their second year, and the school festival is coming up so class 1-A and 1-B decide to collab (much to Monoma's protests), and everyone decides it would be fun to host a somewhat professional play with their own script.
Monoma and Izuku get picked for the main rolls, but one of girls (probably mina tbh) makes a joke suggesting "lmao what if we turned this into a romance" and monoma was like
"absolutely not"
but kendo on the other hand, (who, btw, knows monoma has a fat homosexual crush on izuku) was like "actually that's kinda genius"
and she goes on to explain that it could help monoma be less of a petty asshole and monoma KNOWS what she's trying to do atp so he's silently cursing her whole family.
but apparently kendo's reasoning is very convincing and everyone is like "lowkey we should" and monoma is like
"OHGOD NO. MIDYORIA, PLEASE WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS DOMT DO THIS TO ME" but Izuku just says "I mean i'm okay with it, sounds like fun"
so boom, romance play. the two classes start scripting and shit and one day during practice or whatever, Monoma and Izuku are rehearsing a fairly emotional scene and it gets a little TOO real and raw, and it seems like Monoma isn't acting anymore.

Getting spontaneous presents, since he's so busy all the time, he wants to make sure your still spoiled. These include clothing, jewelry, and perfume and or cologne, whatever you use. Plus just random utilty stuff he remembered you mentioning would be nice, he's a very good listener.
Him asking you if you like one of things he got you the next time he sees you, and just kissing you passionately if he sees you wearing one, saying "See? I knew it'd look great on you"
Him being awkward if your not a woman, but he still loves you, it's just confusing for someone who's had a very binary thought process when it comes to attraction and gayness.
Getting to know all the buisness associates he has even if you don't know what they do, a lot of them aren't too chatty (Mainly cause he's warned them if they spill the secret to you they'll be joining the wall) but some meet you halfway and chat with you a little. Chaz ironically enough is very chatty with you, calling you "The Boss's Sweetheart" and such.
Getting treated to his expensive alcohol collection, half of which the names you can't pronounce, and your always surprised he can do it and flawlessly to boot.
Him dropping everything the moment you drop by if he's doing something, often rushing everyone out so you can be alone together (Also less chance, someone will slip on hiding all the crime going on but mainly for you)

June 2023 Wk 2
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying most.
Ongoing Series - Thai
Step By Step (Tues WeTV & Gaga) ep 8 of 10 - Emotional blackmail from the ex notwithstanding, I guess it’s Pat’s turn to break hearts. I have to say Up was really well cast in this part - extremely believable. Well done all around. Jeng is so smitten, so awkward, so cautious, yet so sharp when it comes to a seme confrontations. I LOVE how sensitive Jeng is to the fact that he has a one-sided crush but also deluded by how much he wants the fantasy of the relationship. The agonizing roller coaster we watch him go through in this ep did a lot of work to elevate and expand his character. (Oh hi Green!) Poor Pat: thinks he’s teasing his straight boss, is actually slow dancing with future husband. Happens to the best of us.
La Pluie (Sat iQIYI) ep 8 of 10 - Don’t kiss someone else. Just argh. Dumb plot divice. I expected better of you LP. Everyone is so overdramatic and overreacting. I wonder if (in addition to all of the other tropes this narrative is scrutinizing) it’s examining bisexual identity through Pat + his ex? Like, this episode is actually about trusting the bisexual to choose his gay lover when he has the so called “option of being normal.” That soulmate is an allegory for gayness & identity & choice (and whether we even have a choice in who we love and are attracted to) and the interplay all of this has with one's own perception of self and other's perception of you… Or am I giving it too much credit? Meanwhile... l flipping adore the love triangle twist, and really wonder if they’re gonna have the guts to take this aspect to its inevitable triangular conclusion. Such a good show.
Be My Favorite (Fri YouTube) ep 4 of 10? - Screw all y’all, I’m eloping with Pair & Max. We forming a thrupple and pretending Jittirain doesn’t exist. Trash watch here.
Luminous Solution (Sat Gaga) ep 4 of 6 - I love the high school boys so much it’s scary: flirting, biting, frankness, roughhousing + lap sitting! Also messy high school gay triangle. Gah. All of this for little-old me?! I was mad every time we jumped forward in time (to the adults) or whatever the hell is going on. Thank goodness this is only 6 eps.
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
Love Tractor (Korea Weds iQIYI) eps 3-4 of 8 - I LOVE IT SO MUCH. IT IS EVERYTHING. SHUT UP I AM FERRIL FOR THE BEAUTIFUL CITY BOY & HIS YOUNG FARMER. Come on. Korea. Have mercy? Plus some language play? Slayed. Right... the episode; This show reminds me so much of a Korean style Restart After Come Back Home. I’m not even slightly mad about it. It’s the BL I didn’t even know to ask for. Soap opera tumble and baby in hospital is SUCH a princess moment and I am living for it. Although the reversal is even cuter, princess turns out to be a caring tsundere Dom. And then obligatory water-hose frolicking! Oh, stop, you. (Allegory much? i being to think hose spraying is just another way of BL saying... well... hose spraying) AND “there is only one bed but they slept together on the floor together anyway”. These boys are hitting all my favorite tropes. BL please never lose your sense of childish wonder. And... the hose spraying is nice too.
Tokyo in April AKA Shigatsu no Tokyo wa (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 1 of 8 - Based on a NSFW yaoi, this is a reunion romance that takes place in an office. Look, this is a weird little 2nd chance at love that reminds me a bit of Our Dating Sim. But it’s more traditional yaoi office romance with evil boss and inter-departmental politics. The leads are cute childhood (almost) sweethearts and I adore it unreasonably already.
Vian the series (Vietnam YouTube ) ep 6 of 12 - Vertical video prod is stupid. I’m sorry young people. Stop it. BUT the cuddling is cute. Christ BV can kiss. Is there anyone he doesn’t have amazing chemistry with? Oh the sunshade trope I haven’t seen that one in forever. Also clearly his character has a type, and that type = ultra-bitch.
Stupid Genius (Vietnam Fri YouTube) ep 2 of 6 - It’s fine.
Naked Dinner AKA Zenra Meshi (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 9 of 12 - Oh dear. Baby is hurt and rejected. Faen fatal knows her competition is a boy, she also knows what jealousy looks like. But this baby has his own boy. This is all feeling rather Thai BL. There’s even an ep 11 of DOOM coming up next.

Ended This Week
Tin Tem Jai special showed up on Gaga as ep 11 & 12 under the original show. (Indebted to spies reporting in.) Also on YouTube. What was that I just watched? Did I watch something? Was there anything? I suppose the bathtub scene was cute. Subs are bonkers. Seriously. Do. Not. Bother.
Our Dining Table AKA Bokura no Shokutaku (Japan) - pay attention TTJ THIS is how you do a special. But I’m gonna do a series review, here ya go: I was always gonna love the show if they stuck to the manga (which is very dear to my heart). And they did, paralleling it almost exactly. It’s a quiet & cozy little parable of found family alleviating loneliness. Possibly too slow for some but definitely high up there for me with the best of what Japan can do (like Restart After Come Back Home), it’s only flaw (if I dare say such a thing) is that it is not really “romantic.” Lovely & sweet but the romance beats are being used to build a family relationship, not just couple intimacy, it’s OK with me, but not totally BL. 9/10

You guys don’t understand how much Jazzfordshire’s stories mean to me (or maybe you do)
(TRIGGER WARNING: mentions of h0mophobia)
I don’t usually get really sappy with writers and the stories they write but I just finished Jazzfordshire’s 70′s AU (part 2).
Istg that the first part of that AU is the story i read the most out of all the Supercorp fanfics I read (and considering SC fanfics is the only type of literature I consume, that’s saying a lot). I always found it comforting, but even if the first part is from Kara’s POV, the part that I connect with the most is Lena’s. She is a lesbian, she knows it, she feels what she feels but is painfully aware that she can’t freely express herself, she can’t open up to anyone bc they might insult her or treat her as a “something” instead of a “someone”.
I used to identify as a lesbian. For five years of my life, I was out to myself, but deadly afraid of living in the outside world. My friends knew and some of them were queer themselves, but I still felt that loneliness inside me.
Even though on this day and age I no longer identify as such, all those things that Lena feels in this story… is just so painfully relatable.
When I started thinking about this, I thought about other stories by this lovely author and realized that, in some of them, the relationship between Lena and Lillian is kinda the same to the one i had with my mother.
Lillian is not supportive of her daughter’s sexuality. But it’s not like she kicks her out or does something more “grotesque”, she is just described as distant… someone who, at the tiniest little show of Lena’s preference for women, she makes not-so-subtle comments about how NOT ok she’s with the fact that Lena is a lesbian. So as a result of that, Lena is deadly afraid of being “obviously” queer, out in the open.
And that, my friend, is EXACTLY what I needed to read when I was younger.
“Isn’t that counterproductive? If you are sad about your relationship with your sexuality, you shouldn’t read homophobic stuff… right?”
Good question, but while I do needed an “everything is going to be ok” type of story, I also needed a story that described that awkward and painful relationship between a mother and her queer daughter. That type of relationship where your mom is not supportive, but she is also not kicking you out or being physically ab*sive. This is because the only realities shown to me by the media at that time were parents being extremely supportive, awfully ab*sive or they will just kick you out. So, even though I used to feel awful with myself because of my mom’s unsupportive behavior, what used to make me feel significantly worse was the guilt of feeling depressed when I should be thankful that she responded this way bc “it could’ve been worse, she didn’t kick me out.”
(That last paragraph was me describing how I felt back in the day. Jazz, as far as I’ve read of her repertoire, doesn’t dwell on the deeper effect that THAT kind of relationship has on you as the queer daughter.)
So, I really needed my feelings to be validated by anyone or anything. And I also needed to see that I deserve to be supported and comforted whenever I felt a sad about my mother’s behavior.
That support and comfort is seen on the way Kara interacts with Lena. In some fanfics like the Ice Skating AU, Lena has a pretty big storyline regarding her sexuality. Every time she feels like she is showing a bit too much gayness or hears the voice of Lilian in her mind shaming her, Kara is like “it’s ok, I’m right here and I love you”.
She is not telling her to get over it, she is not telling her how to fix it, she is just accompanying her through it.
And that is another thing i needed, that is exactly what i craved as a teenager. I needed someone there… just there… to hug me through it.
But the matter of the fact is that I’m finding this stories years later and while my relationship w my mom is basically the same, my sexuality and self perception have changed. I’m now a bi guy.
But now reading these stories, feels like it’s healing my inner child. Feels like a hug for the 14 y/o me that was so effing sad and so effing alone.
@jazzfordshire ‘s stories are dear to my heart and are helping the little teen in me, feel seen and comforted.
So, in case you are reading this, thank you so much. Your stories are beautiful and I hope you continue writing ❤️

I wanted to get this out before I post tonight's chapter!
I really want to tell you guys what inspired me to start writing "Strangers In the Night", and what my current inspirations are!
I first got the story idea while listening to "Amsterdam" by Gregory Alan Isakov (great song, please listen to it if you can because it is just gorgeous). I had an idea to create a one-shot of Mori and Fukuzawa during WW1 exploring homosexuality in the confines of war and the hyper-masculinity, homophobia, and censorship that it caused. The original idea was to keep it at around 3k words, and have Mori and Fukuzawa just be in an abandoned house somewhere, but I felt like I needed more world building, which is why I had to plan an entire fic around that one idea.
Originally I planned to make the short story a lot softer, as in, imagine Fukuzawa and Mori getting it on but in a realistic way. Laughter, awkward talks because neither of them know what they're doing but they're so desperate and excited to have a first taste, first time being so close with another man and the feelings that must cause etc.
However, this story is turning out to be a bit more angstier than I imagined :))
I've been rewatching my favorite WW2 series "Charité: At War" (2019), and I'm pulling huge amounts of inspo from there. It's based on a true stories, and it's set in a real german hospital, Charité during WW2. I think it does a great job at showing multiple different perspectives during the war, and also a fantastic job at portraying gayness, but in a semi-healthy, equal partners, soft and raw emotions kind of way. Of course I have to alter the ideas I get to fit Mori and Fukuzawa, and also WW1, but it's a great way to kind of see how I would make them act in moments of being close to each other.

The story is also largely inspired by "Strangers In the Night" by Vera Lynn. I decided to follow in George DeValier's footsteps when it comes to war AU's, and since he's one of my favorite authors, I'm honoring him by continuing the legacy of the "Veraverse" which is an AU created by him where his fanfictions are based on Vera's songs. I put my own twist on it by setting my fic in WW1 instead of WW2.

Operation Atlantis Notes - “Brewing Up Friendship” (chapter 5)
chapter 5 chapter cHAPTER 5 CHAPTER 5—Woo, it’s finally out! There are some big leaps forward in this chapter, as Three and Eight are finally starting to bond! Yay! We’ve also got a short scene with Lila in the beginning, (dad) Iso Padre, and more! But, mostly Three and Eight bonding lol. Let’s talk about it! (rest under cut).
Compared to chapter 4, this chapter was relatively easy to write. Writing Three and Eight interacting together is always very fun and very enjoyable, especially now when there’s a language barrier and a lot of awkwardness between them. Neither of them really know how to interact with people normally, nevermind when there’s a language barrier in the way. Because of that, this chapter is full of a lot of really awkward yet really sweet moments that I just love. I had so much fun writing them, and I hope you enjoyed reading them! Anyways, on with the notes.
Opening poem: Okay, I gotta admit—I don’t like this one as much as chapter 4′s. Even after I changed the last two lines during my revision process, it still feels a bit too generic for my tastes. That’s okay, though. These poems aren’t meant to be much other than a nice opener. The second and third lines in my original version were more focused on Three in general and not Eight sensing the connections between, which is the whole theme of the chapter so yeah, I changed it. It’s a little on the nose, but hey, I like it.
Lila: Oh, would you look at that, it’s everyone’s favorite character (sarcastic)! Yeah, this scene is more of a tease for later than anything that has to do with this chapter itself lol. After she didn’t appear at all in chapter 4 I thought I should at least give her a short scene as a brief update if you will. This is probably how she’s going to appear in the story for a while, with a short scene or two here and there but not much of a major focus. She may be a perspective character, but she’s not necessarily a protagonist like Three and Eight. We also get the tiniest of hints at her backstory here... what could her last job have possibly been?
Eight: I LOVED writing Eight this chapter. She’s just so sweet and clueless and ADORABLE I love her so much ASFKLASDJFAKLSDF! After I struggled with her in chapter 4 and earlier, it was nice. The issue with her chapter 4 and earlier, actually, is that she didn’t really want anything. Now, though, she wants to be friends with Three—so she has a reason to act. And act she does. Thanks to her amnesia, Eight really isn’t sure how to interact with people yet, never mind befriend them. The only people she’s really talked to are Iso Padre, Madame Katrina, and Miyo. Only one of those characters is her own age, and all of them are overtly friendly. Three, as we know, is not overtly friendly. She also seems like she doesn’t even want friends. But, as Iso Padre says, those who choose to be solitary often need companionship the most. It might be a challenge to be friends with Three, but it’s a challenge Eight’s willing to accept—after all, they might have more in common than they might think.
Eight’s 100 percent heterosexual activities: Fun fact—my plan for Eight’s feelings towards Three was to have them start out more platonic and have them become romantic later on. Right now, Eight isn’t supposed to have an overt crush like Three is, it’s supposed to be a more “This person is so cool I really wanna be friends with them!” kinda feeling, if you know what I mean. However... uh, Eight, staring at your coworker through a doorway like that is uh, a little gay. Just a little. A tiny bit. I’m okay with it though because gayness is the direction we’re heading and also the platonic/romantic binary is fake. So, yeah. Eight’s feelings regarding Three, and more importantly, what Eight knows about those feelings, will change and grow throughout the rest of Operation Atlantis. Look forward to it.
Iso Padre: My man!!! Iso Padre has officially become my underrated fave. He shows up so rarely in fics if at all and it’s such a shame because I think there’s a lot to do with him. Before this chapter, I struggled to really pin down what I wanted him to act and speak like, but after this chapter, I think I got it. Iso Padre is only middle-aged, but he has a sense of wisdom beyond his years that comes from his experiences. He cares a lot about Eight and the other test subjects who are/were under his care, but he’s also afraid of caring about them in case it hurts too much when he has to let go. This is why he agreed with Kamabo to have his memories taken away, so the pain can be erased too. We all know the real reason though. From what we know in canon, Iso Padre has memory loss but, like Eight, it’s unclear what the source of that memory loss actually is. I chose this interpretation because it’s interesting from a character standpoint and it shows how Kamabo subtly manipulates people into cooperating with them. Iso Padre, of course, is not the first person to be manipulated like this, and unfortunately, he’s far from the last.
The First Interactions: Three and Eight are interacting! Yay!!! The first one from Three’s POV was actually not in my outline, but I decided to add it after I wrote the first few sentences of an Azalea scene that I ended up cutting. Poor Eight is very nervous, as anyone would be, but hey, Miyo is right. Three doesn’t bite. The oven scene was one of my earliest ideas for this chapter, and it’s absolutely adorable. Not only do we get Eight trying to help and almost burning herself due to a lack of knowledge, but we also get Three teaching her how to use oven mitts! Don’t tell Three I said this, but, I think it was pretty cute of her to do that. To Three it’s just doing the right thing, but hey. Maybe there’s more than she thinks underneath her icy exterior ;)
Dork/Dumbass: Okay, okay, guys there is something about insults used affectionately that just sends me. I’m not sure if it’s the playful teasing or “Yeah, you’re an idiot, but I love you anyways” but AAAAAAAAAA. So yeah, when I came up with this idea for Three and Eight I immediately loved it. The best part, I think, is that while “dork” and dumbass are insults, they are kind of technically true. Three, stoicism and hero complex aside, really is kind of an awkward loser. Eight isn’t “dumb” so to speak, but she can be a bit of an airhead sometimes who doesn’t use common sense (see: not using oven mitts). Hence, why they call each other this. And, as you probably could’ve guessed from Three at the end there, it doesn’t end up being used entirely meanly. It becomes quite affectionate, actually.
Three’s Crisis: Three. Three my beloved, gay, absolute disaster of an inkling. We’ll see this a LOT throughout the entire rest of this fic, but, Three’s basically built a rigid set of standards for herself one could call a “hero complex.” This hero complex, among other things, forces her to be calm, stoic, and focused at all times, and it’s in overdrive now that they’re in Atlantis. It’s encouraged by Cuttlefish and it’s also the only way Three knows how to cope with everything. Is it a good way to cope? Hell no! It makes Three repress her emotions to hell and back. Don’t do that kids. And one of the emotions she’s been repressing is, well—Three is lonely. She’s convinced herself that two busy idols and a grandpa are the only people she needs in life because she can’t imagine anyone else taking an interest in her. She can’t imagine anyone else caring about her. But, then there’s have Eight, being nice and doing all these favors for her because... she wants Three to be friends with her? What? It goes against everything Three’s forced herself to believe. Hence, she’s stunned by it lol. But, Three’s on a mission, and she can accept Eight’s offer to be friends based on that. Besides, it’s not like it will last. It’s not like it will mean anything, right? Yeahhh good luck with that THREE.
Tendril ties and friendship: If there’s something I love about writing, it’s symbolism. It gets a reputation for being pretentious, but like— there’s just something unique and interesting about connecting an intangible theme to a tangible object. It doesn’t even have to be complicated. Like, with the tendril ties—it’s not about the tendril ties themselves, it’s about the friendship. Eight first sees them being exchanged between friends, so she immediately associates the two because she’s still learning what friendship is. Hence, her offering one to Three is offering friendship. Woo. For a slightly more complicated interpretation that I just thought of while writing this, I think you can say that the tendril ties represent shared experiences. That’s how friendship is made, after all. And then, Three and Eight tying their tendrils up could show how they’ve become similar as a result of those shared experiences. Just some food for thought. But yeah, I had this idea before I started writing this chapter (kinda like the oven scene), and it’s included here because why not. It also ties (haha, get it, ties) nicely into some stuff with Three and Eight much, MUCH later on. Like post-Operation Atlantis levels of late. So late that I can’t talk about it but hey, I think it’s cool.
So that’s that! I think I’m gonna do what I did for these notes in the future rather than going scene by scene like I did in chapter 4. Chapter 6 will be... a while most likely, I have exams coming up and unfortunately that takes precedence over funny gay cephalopods 😔. Late May/Early June maybe? I dunno. Hopefully progress on this fic will speed up in the summer. No promises though.

Obligatory pride month HC post for a few of my belovèd AF faves.
Putting this below the cut as it will be a smidge long. If your headcanons differ, please know that this is only intended to be my very own, self-indulgent reading of some of the characters -- I love to hear how people's readings differ from my own, and I truly do think of the series as being inherently conducive to a multiplicity of interpretations.
Artemis Fowl II: I have a whole post on the fact I love to read (and write) Artemis as being a trans man, and all my takes from that piece apply here. I see him as being bisexual and only coming to terms with this during his late-teens. I don't think he reflected much on his sexuality when he was younger, assuming he was heterosexual due to the fact he is attracted to women *and* the fact mainstream masculinity is also tied to straightness, thus making it common for transmasculine people to remain closeted (to themselves and/or to society) so as to avoid "risking" what little access to validated manhood in the eyes of the peers that they had managed to procure. However, I think he always was drawn to depictions of queer masculinity in art -- Oscar Wilde's writing, etc -- even though he didn't fully understand why he was so profoundly emotionally affected by it.
Juliet Butler: I read her as being a lesbian. Her character arc is so deeply tied to her negotiating what is expected of her as opposed to what she loves, and her finally gathering to courage to leave for America to begin living the life she was meant to live was so important to me when I read it the first time. I see her as having a non-traditional romantic relationship with Samsonetta, in that it's a somewhat open relationship and neither of them is interested in settling down and legally marrying. However, they both deeply love one another, and the relationship has been very healing for them both.
Butler: I see him as always having been supportive of the fact Juliet is gay (i.e. I see him reassuring her that she is meant to live her life as Juliet, not just a Butler, as him subtextually saying, "I know you've never told me, but I know you are gay, and I love you"). However, I think that in terms of him being comfortable with his own sexuality, he'd have a lot of internalized stuff to work through :(. Let me explain.
Canonically, one of Butler's favorite movies is Some like it hot (1959) with Marilyn Monroe -- and this movie was (arguably) the death knell of the Hays Code due to scenes like the following in which gayness was alluded to in a very progressive manner for the time:
Here's how Butler talks about something as innocuous as his taste in genre.
So much about what makes his dynamic with Juliet fascinating is that he is so unequivocally supportive of her, that he is adamant that the Blue Diamond life would kill her spirit, and so on -- yet he likewise spends most of the series refusing to allow himself to be emotionally vulnerable with others, just as he struggles to allow himself to be more than just "a Butler".
I could see Juliet finding out from Justin Barre (Butler's friend from Scotland yard) that years in the past, he had sensed a mutual -- though they never discussed this -- romantic frisson between Butler and himself, and that he always wondered whether something could have happened between them had Butler not been called back to Ireland at Artemis' birth. Juliet has a moment where she's like, "Wait. Hold up".
Suddenly, a lot of awkwardness about how Butler has tried to articulate how much he loves and supports Juliet's own sexuality is recontextualized as being part of, "Holy shit, my brother is heavily closeted". To me, I see Butler's love for Juliet as likely one of the few things that would impel him to properly go to therapy so as to work through all the shit he'd internalized from stripping away his personhood during his time in Blue Diamond training. Like, Butler *loves* being a bodyguard, and this is how he talks about it nonetheless.
I do think that over time, he learns how to be more vulnerable around other people, and that although he remains a private person until he dies, he does come to terms with his own queerness in a way that brings him peace.
Something that reminds me of how I write Butler is the following (beautiful and heart-breaking) piece of art by illustrator Kenny Park (@/parkkennypark).

Mankai Stage Winter Troupe Live 2022
OMFG!!!! THEY WENT ALL OUT FOR THIS LIVE!!!
First of all, their singing got soooo much better (the harmonies were so beautiful), their dances are also a lot cleaner, and. Wow, don’t even get me started on their acting. Absolutely phenomenal performance. I was watching this with a friend, and she said that this had to be her favorite Live. Which I agree with. I feel like every Live was better than the last. And Fuyu’s performance was seriously no joke.
All the songs were just killer and just so so fun to watch. The transitions in between songs flowed really nicely.
The “story” bit for this Live is a bit shorter than the others, but that’s probably because the Live was already so long. It opens with Tsumugi and Tasuku doing a workshop at Yuzo’s theater. They did a really intense scene, and it was fun watching the two of them do an action scene. Then they invited Yuzo to go out drinking with their troupe. But the day of, Tsumugi and Tasuku are running late due to the lack of trains, and so it’s just Yuzo with Hisoka, Homare and Azuma, and it’s just... So awkward, lololol. To be honest, this is the part where my listening comprehension of Japanese isn’t really up to snuff yet, so I couldn’t really make out what they were saying, but I think Homare decided to drink a lot so that he would be eccentric enough to make Yuzo feel welcomed... Or something... So the song, “The Great Detective, Arisugawa Homare,” got remixed into Homare just getting hopelessly drunk. It’s so dramatic and chaotic, and it ends with Homare bawling all over Yuzo. It’s great.
In the end, everyone concludes that this is just Homare expressing his love to the troupe in his own awkward way. And after Yuzo goes home, they end the night stargazing. And oh geez, the stage was just so pretty.
Also, if you thought that Nocturnality couldn’t get any gayer... Oh ho ho, I am here to tell you that you are so wrong. They somehow amped up the gayness. Like, I can’t even believe.
For the transitions, instead of Matsukawa or Sakoda, it’s now led by Yuzo. And he did a good job! I just couldn’t understand most of it yet, lololol.
They had the same backup dancers as the other troupes, so it was a treat to see them again.
Akigumi’s message to Fuyugumi was just so them. Omi was recording it, and Taichi first started the message, but then he got sidetracked and started acting out a potential scene between a fan of his and him, until he got interrupted by Banri, who got interrupted by Juza which... Just led to them fighting that Omi had to put the camera down to help Taichi break it up, which ultimately led to Sakyo just barging in and setting everyone straight. And then Sakyo restarts the message to Fuyugumi that devolves into one of his infamous lectures. They’re so cute, I love them.
Unlike the other troupes, Fuyu got to sing “20 for Colors”, which is a song from Mankai Movie, which was neat to watch.
One little detail that I absolutely adore, is that when Fuyugumi sang “To Bloom,” they had these mics that were wrapped in their flowers. They were so pretty.
If I had to describe the overall tone of this Live, it’d had to be whimsical. And nostalgic. ...Yea, I think that’s a good way to describe it.
Also, at their curtain call, Tsumugi’s actor was talking about how last year, due to Covid, Fuyugumi was the only troupe where their performance might’ve been cancelled, and the pressure and the anxiety was just a lot, but thanks to everyone’s support, they were able to pull through. As he was talking about this, he almost cried, and then I almost cried. I really appreciate the vulnerability that he shared with us, since I just knew that there was no way that they didn’t struggle last year.
To be honest, out of all the troupes, I always felt like the actors of Fuyugumi weren’t as close as the others, but you could just tell that they were just having so much fun during this Live. I was so happy for them, and I had a lot of fun watching this too. It has got to be my favorite Fuyugumi performance.
And with that, I finally got to watch all of the Lives!!!

Three ships: well uh at the moment I'm very 👀 about Obi-Wan Kenobi/Commander Cody (yes, yes I watched my first Star Wars movie when I was probably six and saw The Phantom Menace first week in the cinema and THIS is what I end up shipping? Idk either).
Then I spent quite some time shaking AO3 until I'd read all the John Sheppard/Rodney McKay that looked like it appealed to me... And a fair bit of the minimally tagged one too, because lots of old imported fic. It's a good fandom if you want space adventure with slash, although I suspect watching canon might disappoint in certain ways. But A+ plotting, SGA authors.
Uh and then there are some evergreens. Zoro Luffy Pirate Husbands 5ever... But hey, Kirk/Spock! Had a bit of a revival for me. Which reminds me I need to show a friend The Undiscovered Country, we've been going through the classic K/S moments
Currently reading: Bad Gays: A Homosexual History by Huw Lemmey &Ben Miller. I almost finished then forgot it in a tote bag but now I found it again. Very entertaining non-fiction about "the complicated, the evil, the ill-reputed and the bad" gays through history. What the book adds to the podcast (well, it also removed their frequently shite sound quality issues, it's terrible in the early eps) is their critique of the white cis male-male thing that goes into the concept of homosexuality and gayness currently, and how this was built up historically. Which really nuances some of their person portrait choices well, but also, it's just a good read.
Last movie: Solo - yes, the Star Wars movie. But earlier this week I watched Twilight 3, lol, which was terrrrible but not as bad as Twilight 1 or 2. It's okay, I had friends and we got mildly drunk

Sexuality Headcanon: gay, i enjoy other headcanons for him too but the version of Dirk that lives in my head is definitely homosexual/homoromantic, just feels so right to me. im thinking of putting him on the asexual spectrum somewhere (where is my drink) probably demisexual. his type is probably straight up someone like Dustin if we're being honest here
Gender Headcanon: trans guy! came out as a kid long before Darleen passed away and got lots of support from his parents about both his sexuality and gender <3 i don't know if he realized both around the same time but he knew himself pretty well pretty early on, good for him
A ship I have with said character: ever since i realized the possibility of Dustin/Dirk it has changed my life lol. like it was really always there and it's such an obvious set up but it went completely over my head like it did for most of us i guess, the way maxis seemingly intended is good too because Lilith/Dirk feels like a very exciting couple to play with if you see Dirk being attracted to girls/whatever gender you hc Lilith as. D&D live in my mind rent free tho. it's an easy enemies to lovers for me and some would argue that trope is overdone but there is not nearly enough content about these two that fit the trope perfectly sooo i wanna make that content. speaking of Dirk in this relationship, at first he admits Dustin is cute but hates the dude's attitude so he's gonna be in denial about his Dustin situation for the longest time. he's probably gonna be the one to make this actual relationship happen even though he's gonna be scared. but when Dustin opens up Dirk starts feeling really comfortable with him and falls in love deeply
A BROTP I have with said character: easily him and Lilith, in my hc she's a lesbian and they are fake dating while actually being besties so they don't even have to pretend much. these two are an opposites attract situation too but their energies match so well?? i should probably make them other friends though because no one has more than 2 friends in my stories 😭 i mean Dirk's also good friends with his dad but. yeah
A NOTP I have with said character: this must be about romance but i don't have much to say so i'll talk about enemies instead in this question. well i dont believe he has enemies aside from Dustin and that one's not exactly fitting for this question as we already know so probably no one lol. Dirk doesn't like Angela too and i never realized until just now btw that his relationship with her after he gets with Dustin is gonna be REALLY AWKWARD
A random headcanon: he's a giant bookworm, tries to be the best at everything and is quite grumpy, i feel like he would be very successful in college because he's just a shining star however you look at him. absolute delight (but can be a bitch). he loves cats and the color purple (i actually thought of making it his signature color but he's already assigned blue by maxis so im confused). also a big taylor swift fan
General Opinion over said character: gives off rainy vibes but is actually such a sunshine. i love him so much and im so glad i discovered how great of a character he is a few years ago, he's a certified son of mine (it's actually crazy to think that if he's a teen he's younger than me... like that is a noticeable age gap. huh)
Dustin:
Sexuality Headcanon: i would say the definition that feels right to me is homosexual/biromantic, sometimes i think it could be one or the other but i always remember that it doesn't have to because sexuality is a wide spectrum and im very happy to represent someone who has different romantic and sexual attraction! his gayness is powerful and i also cherish the girl-liking side of him and i think it's beautiful. i don't know if he's allosexual yet but i feel like he's probably demiromantic i hadn't even realized that until just now! im excited
Gender Headcanon: im still wondering about this, i see him as a guy and currently as cis, i really like the idea of him being trans but given how i hc him and his family i feel like by the age of 16 he would be unlikely to freely express himself or maybe even discover himself at all? he's quite emotionally repressed and doesn't give himself time to process his feelings so he probably wouldn't even know what the feeling means if he had it. hmmm
A ship I have with said character: Dirk ofc. Dustin didn't know he was gay and likely had inner homophobia but after meeting Dirk he knew what was up and he embraced it (after they stopped hating each other first heh). he had a pretty wonderful relationship with Angela so i like these two a lot together but with Dirk it's just a whole another story. Angela is like a comfort place and with Dirk it's like a rollercoaster and Dustin is just addicted to the feeling. he will be the first one to make a move but it's gonna be in a bit of a stupid way of course because he's secretly really awkward so it'll take time for them to actually see what's up
A BROTP I have with said character: Angela. she helps him with the kids and just generally spends so much time with him and they genuinely love each other so much as bf and gf but then as friends too, the breakup is hard for Angela but after some time it definitely gets better and they are just a great couple of peeps who care for each other :) i would say i need to get Dusty other friends too but i'll be honest with you i don't even think he has any. poor boy i gave him like 2 or 3 nice points
A NOTP I have with said character: Lilith hates Dustin and wouldn't engage 😭 she learns to tolerate him but imagine these two put in a room they would fight to death
A random headcanon: Dustin is a huge family boy and the only times he is genuinely expressing his feelings is when he is with his little siblings. Brandi and him have a weird relationship that is full of fights but in its core their relationship is not the worst, she's a loving mom just not very good at it. he probably has some obscure hobbies but i don't remember which rn. he likes sports (sadly). he's a very angsty teen and 100% listens to angsty teenage music in his room. he's gonna be such a great man in college when he matures and starts being honest with himself about things and this is the best glow up ever
General Opinion over said character: i love Dustin. i am so proud of his growth and bravery <3 he is kind of a menace in the beginning of my story, super mean but i don't want to throw him under the bus because his soul is so beautiful. wait is that bus thing even a saying or did i make that up. anyways boy needs therapy and hugs

THE FIVE SENSES
Hear:
How would you describe the sound of your muse’s voice? Darrius has a pleasant voice; it’s deep, but smooth, and perfect for telling long stories. Which works really, really well as a history professor.
What sorts of music do they like to listen to? A lot of classic music. Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, anything that’s easy to listen to while grading papers, to be honest. He wouldn’t really say that there’s any one genre that he is drawn to so much as whatever sounds good to him right there in that moment.
If they had to pick three songs to listen to for the rest of their life, what would those three songs be? The Man by Aloe Blacc, Three Little Birds by Marley and Stand by Me by Otis Redding.
What’s their favorite sound? The loud, raucous cheering at a Chicago Bears game, when the entire stadium is on their feet and cheering for them to find the end zone (miraculously).
Their least favorite sound? Pretty much the opposite of that, to be honest. That, and the sound of screeching brakes. In his mind, that never means anything good, and he heard it far too much back home.
Touch:
What’s one of your muse’s favorite textures? Darrius has always been pretty fond of leather, whether it be on a football, his briefcase, or anything ‘professional’ in that way. He also really, really likes the feeling of his dogs’ fur.
What does their skin feel like? Smooth? Rough? Pretty smooth, to be honest. His hands are a little callused and rough from all of the time that he spends in the gym using the various equipment, though. Still, he isn’t too bad with taking care of himself.
Do they like maintaining a skincare routine? Not in particular, but he also knows that it’s necessary if he wants to look good into his old age. Which means he does wash his face regularly, take care of himself in the shower and before bed at night. He sees it as just one of those things that he has to do, and that’s okay.
Are there any textures that your muse doesn’t like? Why? There’s not any one thing that comes to mind, but he’s never been fond of the feeling of sand... in socks. Which sounds very specific, but it’s very, very uncomfortable if it happens to you, trust him.
How often do they clip their nails? Do they bite them? Whenever they need it, probably once a week or more, and he does occasionally chew on them, but not a ridiculous amount or anything.
Sight:
Is their vision good, or do they need glasses or contacts? His vision is pretty good! He has glasses that he wears when teaching to help him see better, cut back on blue light, and just make him look cool.
Do they like to use their glasses or contacts if they need them? Well... see above, for that one.
What is your muse’s visual aesthetic? (eg: outfits, colors, etc.) When dressing casually, he tends to go for jeans, sneakers and a hoodie, or if it’s a nicer occasion, then a button-up and a nice suit jacket (probably still jeans and sneakers). If it’s a real formal event, though, he appreciates a really nice, sharp suit and will go all out to be fashionable. When teaching, jeans and a sweater, or a nice jacket.
What normal looking objects appear ugly to your muse? Being a huge history buff, Darrius likes old things, and sometimes new designs of old objects just don’t mesh well with him. Bullet trains, for example, are ugly.
Are they good or bad at winking? Probably bad in the sense of just not really being charming enough to pull off that sort of flirting. He’s a little more on the awkward side.
Smell:
What does your muse smell like? Darrius smells good, period. A mixture of spices and natural scents that give him a pleasant aroma when someone leans in for a tight hug.
Favorite candle scent? He loves the candles that smell like forests and trees, it just reminds him of being outside.
What sorts of shampoo / body wash scents do they like? Nothing in particular, but he does like the ones that have that bit of a citrusy orange kind of bite to them, just to shake things up a bit.
What’s their favorite smell? Chicago deep dish pizza, freshly sliced and put out on the table at his favorite pizza shop back home.
What’s their least favorite smell? The smell of pot in the bathrooms at the school that he used to teach in.
Taste:
If your muse had a taste, how would you describe it? A sugar cookie with orange zest. Sweet, but with that little bit of tang... and maybe a sprinkling of cinnamon on top, just for good measure.
Are they more of a sweet or salty person? Both, he could never choose. He loves savory, but more than that, he loves chasing it with a nice, sweet flavor to compliment it.
What flavor lip balm do they usually use? Just regular ole cherry Chap Stick, he’s really not particular. It’s there to make his lips feel good and not be disgustingly chapped all day, so as long as that’s accomplished, he won’t get picky about flavors or scents.
Do they lick, or do they bite? Probably bite, he’s a little too impatient to just lick at something.
What’s their favorite meal to make / eat? Probably that aforementioned deep dish Chicago pizza, but he also loves a good dog from a street car when he’s out and about. As far as making food, he’s not the world’s biggest cook, mostly because he doesn’t spend a lot of time doing it, but he likes a nice chicken and waffles dinner.

so this kinda turned into them somehow being able to access tumblr lol
charlie: would be so fucking thrilled,, a. he's famous, people now he's the shit now, b. it's gay like no further explanation needed,, it might be a bit strange since this is the 50's so an online blog is a pretty unique concept,, but i don't think he'd delve on it too much,, he’d definitely tease anderperry since they’re the most agreed on ship and i think he’d totally rank all the poets he’s shipped with and totally hold it over their head (”charlie can you-” “is that anyway to speak to someone you’re in love with?” but like to all of the poets since he’s shipped with all of them)
cameron: i feel like he'd be really awkward about it,, like on one hand, i think he'd feel a little pleased, but on the other he wouldn't really know how to react, cuz man, this is the 50's the concept of a blog being dedicated to him would totally freak him out,, he’d say he doesn’t care about it, but he’d totally secretly read everything to “get an accurate assumption”
knox: him being gay would get in the way of him and chris, so he might not be too in love with the idea of it, but it's more of an annoyance that people don't really ship him with chris all that much that'd get to him
meeks: i feel like meeks wouldn’t even think about the dedicated part as much as he’d be completely enthralled by the futuristic tech,,, eventually though he’d try to see the content to decide if he likes it or not, he would and his favorite part would be the anderperry fanfiction, he’d tease anderperry about the m-e rated and cry over the fluff,, he also would really adore headcanons and go through all of them to find which ones are accurate or close and which ones are completely wrong

neil: oh he’d love every single part of it until he reads the angst,, he seems like the guy who likes to cry over fiction, but he wouldn’t like dps angst since the person being angsty is typically todd or charlie, he’d definitely avoid that whole mess, he’d be thrilled at all the anderperry content, and how it’s pretty much accepted as canon,, would definitely spends hours looking at fanart and edits. he read fanfiction but he stumbled upon an anderperry rated e pwp and couldn’t look todd in the eye after
todd: would be so flustered to see the blogs, i feel like there are a lot of blogs that are either named after todd or have him in the username that would just turn him beet red like, from the top of my head @toddmybeloved @gaytoddanderson (not to bother yall lmao but ur the first ones i thought of) ,, he’d be pretty flustered and i don’t think he’d manage to look through any thing tagged todd either,, he’d be pretty fucking happy with the neil and anderperry content tho (he read every neil being a simp post)

Helmut Zemo Things
When Zemo first walked in, you gave Bucky your best stare.
What were you thinking?
He tried to explain, but it didn't sit right with you.
This man had more than tormented Bucky.
And don't forget the Avengers.
His gaze met yours when he walked in.
You could only roll your eyes.
Sam was in agreement with you that this was a bad idea, but Bucky was winning the argument.
So Zemo was to stick around for a bit.
As it turned out Zemo had money. A lot of it.
You ended up sitting across from him on HIS plane.
After a small arguement about Bucky's opinion on Marvin Gaye, conversation changed.
Zemo was looking at you.
"I don't remember you." He said.
"About right, we didn't really meet last time."
Of course, he starts asking about you.
You tell him what you're happy enough to share.
He just sits there grinning at you.
When you're done talking to him, you turn your attention away, not wanting to give him any more of your time.
Yet, you feel his gaze on you.
Probably trying to think of a way to use you against Sam and Bucky.
Like Hell you'll let that happen.
The plane lands and you'll have to change.
None of you can enter Madripoor as yourselves.
You take the clothes offered to you, reluctantly.
Sam has it so your on his other side, with him standing between you and Zemo.
He saw what went down on the plane.
He didn't wike it 😉
Of course, Madripoor goes to shit.
You honestly didn't expect any less. If it weren't for the reputation, it was because trouble followed you three always.
Somehow you manage to get out unscathed.
Cue Sharon Carter entering the scene.
Been a hot minute since you last saw her.
Zemo stands by idly, gun in his face, as you greet Sharon with an awkward hello.
She takes you back to her place.
Sharon gives you some more comfortable clothes to put on.
Zemo helps himself to a drink.
When you come out from getting changed, Sam and Bucky have also changed.
Zemo looks up at you.
"Ah, that's much better."
He's grinning again.
You shuffle awkwardly over to him as he pouts you a drink.
You have no idea how to behave around him.
The party was in full swing when you all got down there.
You tried to stay close to your boys, but there was too many people.
You saw Sam up ahead.
Just as you were about to make your way over to him, something else catches your attention.
Zemo.
Dancing.
You stop and stare.
That man has been locked up for far too long.
You can't help but laugh.
Sharon passes you and tells you she got what you needed.
"Have fun, OK?"
You watch her go.
When you turn back to where Zemo was dancing, you find him standing right before you.
"You look a little out of place." He says.
"Me? What about you?"
"I admit, it has been a while." He smiles.
"Same here, except you have a valid reason." You chuckle.
Zemo smiles at you. There's something more genuine about it this time.
"Come, why don't we go back upstairs? Your boys will catch up with you later."
He holds out his hand.
You take it.
With no loud music blaring, you can hear him much better.
"Drink?"
You sit down and let him pour you another drink.
"Why are you here, Y/N?"
You stare at him. Not like a Bucky stare, more of a 'what are you asking?' stare.
"Why are you here helping Sam and James?"
"I... I guess I'm just here to keep an eye on them... though, a lot of good I've been doing. Trying to keep them out of trouble led to Bucky breaking you out and getting us all in trouble in Lowtown."
He gives a small chuckle.
"You can't say it's not exciting."
Your turn to laugh.
"Cheers to that."
You both clink your drinks together before gulping them down.
After that you excuse yourself, but not before Zemo speaks.
"Have a good night, Y/N."
You turn to him before you leave the room.
"You too, Zemo."
You both smile and then you head off to bed.
Zemo has just one more drink before he follows after you.

It’s [Not] A Phase.
I think I understand what I dislike about TikTok culture (and part of internet culture more generally).
It takes aesthetics and makes them into identities and takes identities and bastardizes them into aesthetics.
Because aesthetics are more palatable, easily marketable and consumable.
They don't require real depth or nuance or understanding, they are just flat caricatures, personas and simulacras, rather than real whole people.
"Lesbians listen to Girl in Red and are too useless to flirt with girls! Bis cuff their pants! Gay people can't drive or do math!"
What about lesbians who don't like that song? Are they not lesbians?
What about bisexuals that prefer uncuffed shorts? Are they not bisexual?
What about gay people who can drive/do math? Are they not gay?
Being homosexual or bisexual is just your sexuality, it doesn't determine your interests or personality, even if some LGB people may have similar interests or personalities.
However, that is too real, too human, if a gay person is just like everyone else, just homosexual, then what makes them special? What about them is trendy? How can we buy and sell the product of "gayness"? How can we market the gay "experience?"
It's a horrible combination of capitalism and post modernism and hyper-individuality and it's extremely regressive.
The concept of class exists to be able to describe systems of power, those who oppress and those who are oppressed.
The concept of identity exists to describe how different aspects of oneself impact the whole.
These concepts are built on the material and are necessary for a lot of political thought…
…but the material gets in the way of this type of buying and selling of selves.
In their fight against “the system” they work on its behalf.
It feels like a generation of people who haven't done the work to explore and experience and question and accept themselves, who aren't interested in self discovery and self growth.
They're just interested in quick digestible solutions, letting Buzzfeed personality quizzes and Instagram influences define their lifestyle, letting fandom become a religion, making personality traits into entire oppressed classes.
Regurgitating lines and phrases said to them over and over without listening to them or thinking about what they mean.
Talking about how labels are so regressive and yet needing 15 of them to define and guide every decision.
I expect that kind of behavior from tweens and teens, they're both trying to understand who they are and where they fit into society as a whole and gain/explore their new independence and the wider world...
...which means they have a desire to both "fit in" and "stand out".
They're also prone to melodramatics and mistakes and black and white thinking and I can't fault them for any of that, really.
However, this has gotten to a point where it is doing real harm.
It's one thing to go through the "it's not a phase, Mom" emo phase, it's mostly harmless and a little embarrassing in retrospect, but you're learning and growing and it happens.
Making real identities into stereotypes so they can be turned into aesthetics on the internet hurts real people.
I have seen social contagion first hard with the rise of eating disorders and self harm and romanticized mental illness.
I also saw the beginnings of the current movement with the rise of the LGB as "trendy" once the gay rights movement was getting a lot of attention...
...and it's having real ramifications for both the people in these spaces and the communities outside of them.
It is so frustrating and deeply sad.
I know what it is like to be an awkward and isolated kid on the internet trying to understand themselves and find where they fit in.
I understand what it is like to feel like you need external validation all the time.
I have been there, where you try to mirror the people or characters you like and get sucked into that because you don't know who you are so why not try to be someone else?
I am empathetic towards people who cling to anything they can find to better define themselves and their experiences because they don't know how to communicate what they're going through.
...And I know how wrong this all is.
I know how wrong it is to take real people's lives and turn them into a costume of stereotypes.
I know how wrong it is to belittle people's lived experiences by creating identities that parasitize and parody real struggles.
I know how wrong it is to pretend you are something you’re not for your own personal gain.
I know how wrong it is to try to destroy something because it doesn't include you.
It hurts me to see these people hurting and trying to avoid it the best way they know how...
...and it hurts me to know how many more people they're hurting by doing all of this.
This isn't just "kids on the internet" anymore, it's money, it's politics, it's our culture, it's our future.
When these kids grow up will they say "it was just a phase"?
Will the damage they've caused be "just a phase" or will those scars last long after it’s over?
