I feel like I'm going crazy, because if I put the pieces of the puzzle together I can say that Damon and Bonnie are canonically in love. And I could write an entire essay about it pointing out scenes and parallels and lines and what they mean starting with Damon's letter to Bonnie. I kept thinking about this because I was rewatching this scene here.
He says that supposedly he has everything, but he has nothing. Bonnie is dying and he is desperately trying to save her life even if it means she wakes up and kills him. He's going to extremes because Bonnie just wanted to die. He manages to wake her up by talking about his relationship with Elena; teases her to the level that she rips his heart out. He literally gave his heart to Bonnie in the same place he gave his heart to Elena.
DUDE!!! WHAT?! I'm hallucinating all this and my brain has been corroded with fanfiction? Or am I really seeing this? Was Damon willing to die to save her life and basically saying he's in love with her? I'm going crazy, please someone from the TVD fandom tell me I'm not going crazy.
He's in love with both of them and the last conversation Elena had with him was about how he can have both and I'm going to die on this hill!!!
The season 7 is basically Bonnie being teased by Enzo every 5 minutes about the fact that she's in love with Damon before he left her behind. He seems to be absolutely sure of that, you know why? He was spending time with Lilly who helped Kai with the plan. She had very open ears in that house and what I'm saying makes perfect sense when I think about it. Kai made Damon make a choice. What the hell happened in that Prison World?! Damon has thought a lot about this piece of advice he's been giving Stefan I wonder why...

i can't stop listening to the 'purpose is glorious' track from this season's ost and thinking about how lovely the title and its meaning are. it's just such an amazing underlying theme in this show, and - while i do have criticisms about some of the choices made for the series finale - i really do feel the writers wholeheartedly delivered in sending that message home. for me personally, loki's ending is so gratifying and a large part of that is solely from viewing their arc's conclusion with the perspective of this theme in mind. to have spent years watching this character i hold very dear to my heart struggle to find belonging, to feel as though they matter and there is reason in their existence, finally get a chance to show - and recognize - their worth was so, so rewarding. and honestly, i think the message behind the phrasing of 'purpose is glorious' is all the more meaningful because of how loki's arc finished. yes, the outcome was bittersweet; yes, we're left knowing loki didn't get the happiness they undeniably earned after everything they'd gone through. it smarts something fierce to know their journey up until they deviated from their timeline and became a variant, as well as seen their eventual intended fate. the ache is only worsened after witnessing everything that happens within the TVA and the entirety of loki's character growth leading up to a redefining moment where they willingly choose to undergo a nightmarish amount of time in the endeavor to do the right thing. of course we want them to emerge victorious when they've struggled for so long, but that's not the point. loki's final moments are them forfeiting their right to a happy ending to preserve the stories of others because all stories matter and should inherently reserve the free will to be written; as sylvie says, loki makes their choice so their loved ones and life across the multiverse still have a chance to belong somewhere and embrace their place in the world. the take away is that even burden can be glorious. even with all the hardships of life - all the inevitable heartache, disappointment, and grief we encounter just by being alive - we have meaning in our existence. there is meaning in the trials we face, and the suffering we endure in order to overcome them. our pain gives us purpose; it gives us the ability to love, to grow from and for each other, and choose to sacrifice our happiness for the benefit of another. loki's purpose was forged in the bonds of those they met in their time at the TVA and the sense of value they gained from their companionship. their sacrifice perfectly conveys how the human capacity to love is one of cosmic greatness, which can ultimately surpass our instinctual desire to preserve one's self. we can move immovable mountains and challenge insurmountable adversity in behalf of the ones we love and their welfare. if that isn't an act deserving of glory, I don't know what is.
tldr; loki's purpose is the friends they made along the way = as the saying goes, 'tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all'. or: our own lives have purpose because of the connections we share with others, even when we are met with great loss.

i half-joke about ryuji and daigo seeming to have a toxic exes sort of dynamic in y2 or maybe having had an enemies-with-benefits thing goin on in the past but. honestly? the more i think about it the more it makes sense that they actually could’ve connected on some level and been legitimately close if they had been given the time and the right circumstances to beat each other up enough to get enough psychosexual tension out to actually talk to one another.
they were both born and raised the heirs of major yakuza patriarchs and because of that spent their childhoods lonely, acting out in various ways as a cry for help/any kind of genuine reaction from people/etc. they both had huge expectations for what they were supposed to grow up to be and both ended up being rebellious against yakuza standards/traditionalism by the end of their 20s in their own ways– ryuji ignored the rule of his father and went on his own shallow tirades because no one could stop him, and daigo dared to try and be a relatively normal young adult by being a punk and going to bars and avoiding his responsibilities and so on. both tried to pull a “fuck you dad/mom I can be whoever I want and you can’t control me” and ryuji died for it, daigo didn’t literally die for it but his soul more or less did. I could go on but yeah I can honestly imagine in their 20s having a deeper fucked up connection than what was shown in game, or having the potential to have been closer as they learned and matured and whatnot and it would’ve been interesting to see.

I get that the vibe of these scenes is very different, but in the most general, unserious sense: Ken popping up in the back of Barbie's car and begging her to let him go on the adventure with her = Syril showing up at the ISB and begging Dedra to listen to him
That whole scene where Barbie gets annoyed with him and tells him to go for a walk, and he walks away, still staring at her, with the saddest and most forlorn look. Syril energy
Ken going to all those random places and demanding to be given a job despite having no qualifications -> Syril wanting to get into the ISB, despite having little to no actual Imperial work experience (no one at that level is going to count Preox-Morlana)
The whole girlfriend-boyfriend conversation. "I was thinking I could stay over tonight." "Why?" "Because we're girlfriend and boyfriend." "To do what?" "...I'm actually not sure."
"SUBLIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" - this is exactly how Syril would react if Dedra agreed to go on a date with him. Either that, or he'd start crying
The whole "I only exist when you see me" thing, because you know Syril only thinks he's really living when Dedra's looking at him
The fact that Season 2 Syril is apparently going to "find out who he is" away from his mother and Dedra, which I'm assuming won't be completely dissimilar to Ken discovering patriarchy and then immediately making everything, including himself, 100000000x worse
If Syril had the confidence, he would absolutely pull out a guitar and serenade Dedra in her office with whatever the Star Wars version of "Push" by Matchbox Twenty is, and now I need someone to draw this please, please, please

Genuine answer tho kindaaaa because my entire point with the tim wealth thing is that even if the point about it not having much basis in canon was true (which. Lmao) it’s still gonna impact how he’s written by the writers and viewed by the fans; when it comes to writing stories a lot of people see middle class as the Relatable class which is precisely why I think those hardcore Tim Stans are pushing it so much
#im not gonna make it long bc like. if u get it u get it there’s not much u have to explain#but i am gonna say it’s very funny they don’t wanna say he’s broke#if his wealth doesn’t matter at all they could easily say he has nothing#but they’re too classist to say it#hard assumptions buuuuut im not giving plot points don’t impact character guy the benefit of the doubt#when it comes to monetary status there are implications that come with them#when it comes to the general public middle class has the most neutral implications#atp with so many convos on class consciousness and negative traits associated with the wealthy#it feels like they just don’t want Tim associated with that#imo that’s what makes him cool#the fact that he’s extremely intelligent but held back by limited world view which can cause him to fuck up his relationships (steph)#or be callous and cruel in his words (Jason when Tim was first starting as Robin)#i think him choosing to be Robin even tho he would’ve arguably been extremely successful otherwise#and choosing to have this worldview expanded in ways that he might not like (his arrogance biting him in the ass meeting ppl like Lonnie-#-learning to extend empathy and compassion in a way that might seem unnatural at first) is cooler than middle class kid picked up by#billionaire like the other 20#plus i think him being written as the opposite of Jason was so intentional that to ignore it is stupid. not even explaining like c’mon man#but i think the parallels this creates with Bruce -did NOT have to do that shit ur life is WORSE bc ur doing that shit- are fun#like in conclusion if u wanna ignore that Tim’s rich fine whatever#but ur so boring and I’d rather watch paint dry than hear whatever you have to say about him#there’s too many bad things associated with both lower class and higher class for them to be comfy with tim in either#so they’re pushing for neutral middle#just like tim isn’t arrogant and rude at times but he’s also not a complete pushover#so he’s smart but he forgets to take care of himself#he’s not Bruce’s favorite because Bruce is so mean but he can’t be Bruce’s least favorite so he does everything for him#just bland takes on bland takes bc God forbid the rich white boy has some spunk#which is a massive disservice to his character btw. like i hate on canon Tim a lot but he’s interesting to me#it’s why takes like this don’t even piss me off or anything it’s just. so boring#evil opposite to ‘Batman is the man Bruce is the mask’#ur so smart and profound I’d love to hear more. please tell me about how much tim loves coffee and worshipped Jason as Robin.
