WELL WE'RE QUICKLY SPEEDING FROM BAD TO WORSE, but in the meantime we sure can try to accurately count just how many worlds they really did go to.
It is... very up in the air.
But still! Huge thank you to everyone reading this shorter chapter with me, and extra thank you to my supporters over on patreon! They help me keep this going and it's always greatly appreciated!

Thinking about how Kurogane and Fai just witnessed their son’s death, and right after now also have to deal with Mr evil guy using their daughters’ corpse to go against everything she stood for and use her goodwill as a weapon for more death and destruction ™
They're having a DAY that's for sure!

Actually before I forget I want to point out that this completes a visual loop with Sakura's vision in Chapitre 1, where she saw the worlds she hadn't actually been to yet:
Tumblr media
Which is interesting in hindsight because I could have SWORN that we saw a bunch more worlds in there, but no it's really just Nihon and Seresu, the Clow Kingdom (which she's already in) and arguably the Jam Jar of Dreams. But still! Sakura's journey bookended by overlapping visions of worlds, first as a vision of what was to come, and later as a memory of everywhere she had been. And her journey itself was the thread that tied together the destruction of them all.
Or so it would seem! We'll read more soon!
Tumblr media
[6]
I turned the page thinking there was one more to go, but it looks like this is actually split across a double page spread. But since I've seen it let's talk about it anyway!
It's all the worlds we've seen! And in the most CLAMP way possible we see them overflowing and overlapping but THROUGH the frame that Sakura's Wings makes of them. They HAVE the memories of these worlds inside them, and here they visually show us the mess of them all colliding and ripping apart.
And it's gorgeous! Is this all of them? Let's see, if we start in the top left and go counter clockwise we see Acid Tokyo (1), with I think Koryo beneath it (2), and what I am going to assume is the library from Recourt (3). We have a clear Piffle (4), followed by the Land of Fog (5) (justice for the mini-arcs!), and then Infinity (6) which is hilariously just a picture of Eagle Vision since we didn't see much of the world itself outside of his illegal fighting ring. Next is Nihon I think (7), followed by Hanshin (8), and the flower fun district in Shara (9). Above that is Yukito and Toya in Clow (10), going sideways is The Country Which Had Tornado-chan in it (11), and crossing behind both of those is the ferris wheel I think has to be Edonis/Outo (12), above that is Jade (13), Yuuko's store (which I didn't count as a separate world but sure, 14), and Shura - which I technically count as the same as Shara, but sure, let's make that 15 visible worlds.
You could argue that Clow and Acid Tokyo are the same world, which would bring it down to 14, but you could also say that about Shara and Shura, which would do the same. If you did it for BOTH that would bring it down to 13, which means one is missing. Oh, Seresu? Does Seresu not count because it doesn't exist anymore?
Either way! The numbers are murky and the math doesn't really matter but I like that it's close enough and entertaining enough that I stared at a jpg for twenty minutes straight! So that's a win!

You're right, that does sound bad.
Absolutely fascinating that the powers of the feathers collecting together is making Sakura glow like that, like she's evolving or transforming. Except she's not even in there really, which is still awful.
Tumblr media
OHO HERE WE GO.
Honestly the tension behind all this is pulled off REALLY well. They really make it LOOK like there IS enough power built up here in Sakura to pull that off. Especially when it essentially comes down to a power that relies upon the cumulative experiences of everything the readers have gone through to get to this point, which is a lot, and means that it's the reader's memories themselves that make this all the more powerful of a moment.
IT'S NEAT.
AND ALSO - ELDRITCH HORROR SAKURA? THE WINGS UNFOLDING WITH SO MUCH POWER THAT SAKURA IS A FORCE WITH ENOUGH SHEER POWER TO RIP APART THE FABRIC OF THE UNIVERSE?
PEAK.
And all in the service of wanting to bring people back to life.
Which, in hindsight, makes it really really funny that the Beetrain anime did their own plot so badly that it broke the purpose of the entire story to begin with, but oh well!
ALSO I'M HAVING A MOMENT OF SUDDEN CLARITY. In the cover for Chapitre 212 I was talking about how there were 14 little water droplets causing ripples that we could see, and how that was kind of the same number of worlds we visited. I never thought about it before but SAKURA'S WINGS ALSO HAVE 14 STRANDS IN THEM.
Tumblr media
AND LIKE it's not about the number of physical feathers, because there were a bunch more of those, but Evil Wolverine's plan hinges on travelling to a number of Worlds specifically - and we went to 14 of them. And there are 14 parts to Sakura's wings. So it was always 14! They showed it to us all along! It was a concrete plan!
At least from a planning perspective anyway! I don't think it's a solid RULE that there were only 14 worlds they went to, since it's left pretty open for them to have visited other worlds inbetween and off screen and even some of the canonical worlds we went to were 2 worlds in one, but still! I just think it's neat! 14 clear arcs, 14 main worlds, and 14 pieces of the wings that will destroy the universe as we know it.

WOOPS there it goes! Now featuring: side explanation that Evil Wolverine has frozen Fai and Kurogane in place. Which is honestly just rude of him at this point.
Tumblr media
OOPS that was the last one he needed?
I suppose this last one must have been a BIG boost to cross the finish line, since it has the experience of hundreds and/or thousands of years behind it. The way Evil Wolverine describes it makes it sound like this may have ended up being the strongest feather of all. Which I'll just let him have, since the feathers can do what they like, really.
But also! Syaoran must have known something, because he said to let this happen too, didn't he? There must still be an opening to turn this around after this.

WE LOVE AND SUPPORT MOKONA GIVING PASSIONATE SPEECHES ABOUT SAKURA!
MOKONA SO EMOTIONAL ABOUT THIS THAT SHE'S YELLING, SO LOUD THAT FAI AND KUROGANE CAN HEAR HER ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE PORTAL AS THEY STARE DOWN EVIL WOLVERINE
I mean the Reservoir may just have great acoustics but I also think one of Mokona's secret techniques might be Amazing Vocal Amplification. I'm so proud of her.
Tumblr media
YES GO OFF MOKONA!
Mokona knowing that the WATER ITSELF knew that a piece of Sakura was protecting it all this time, and that it genuinely cared for her in return. I LOVE THIS. I LOVE THAT THE WATER IS ITS OWN THING.
Also go Lava Lamp go! YOU'RE SO CLOSE.
Tumblr media
I know I've said it before but let Mokona say fuck.
She deserves it.

I LOVE the shot of Mokona looking over the reservoir from above. It really brings back the same vibe of everyone watching the drama unfold from above the Reservoir back when we were in the Acid Tokyo Bad Times, back when it was Sakura herself trapped in a container in the water.
But now the feather is rising back to the surface after WHO KNOWS HOW LONG? Centuries? Thousands of years?
VERY hitsuzen that, back then, it felt like a Huge Break in the pattern to leave this feather behind. It was a huge sacrifice, but one made happily and with a lot of strength and determination to save people to spite Evil Wolverine. AND YET, Hitsuzen is mean and apparently this also works exactly to Evil Wolverine's plan and none of this even would have happened if she hadn't left it behind WOOPS.
Hitsuzen really could be a bit nicer.

SO HERE WE ARE, Chapitre 213: Unparalleled Power
There's no cover art but Evil Wolverine is kind enough to confirm for Lava Lamp that Yes This Is In Fact Acid Tokyo. The Acid Tokyo With The Reservoir. The Reservoir From The Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles.
And we even have some little flashbacks just to remind the reader of the feather in the Reservoir WHICH IS FAIR since these chapters would have been published like 3 years apart? For me it was... uh... oh, gosh, six years.
Ignore that, we're ignoring that. We are reading this at a steady pace don't pay attention to the calendar that's lying to you let's keep going.

Reblogging this here so everyone can see the slight confusion that is the next couple of chapters. But luckily, we have a guide!
Since Chapitre 213 is so short I might just sneak it in now. Secretly.
As a bonus.
Ch. 213-215
This post contains the following information about Chapitre 213, Chapitre 214, Chapitre 215 of Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE: what page each of these chapters starts on, ends on, how many pages long it is.
Chapitre 213 starts on page 39, is 14 pages long, ends on page 52
Chapitre 214 starts on page 53, is 20 pages long, ends on page 73
Chapitre 215 starts on page 74, is 20 pages long, ends on page 92.

WELL I GUESS THAT'S THAT FOR THIS INSTALLMENT OF TSUBASA: ACID TOKYO CHRONICLES
This is leaving me drowning in so many thoughts. Even like... the end of X/1999 that we never got to see, can you imagine if it was going to end with like... a future shot of a desert? With maybe a small town of people surviving despite it all? Some compromise between Kamui and Fuuma's fates that wiped it all out but left a small portion of humanity behind that would have grown into the peaceful and happy people that are the Clow Kingdom in the future? Is this some small preservation of the ideas that Clamp never got to publish or am I reaching too far?
EITHER WAY IT'S MAGNIFICENT AND I'M HAVING THE BEST TIME
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE HERE TO WITNESS MY SUFFERING AS WE DESCEND INTO ACID TOKYO: THE PLACE YOU CAN NEVER LEAVE
And! Extra special thanks to everyone who supports me on Patreon! You keep me going even when it turns out WE WERE IN ACID TOKYO ALL ALONG

MOM HOLY FUCK THEY REALLY ARE SAYING IT
EXCUSE ME
EXCUSE ME
WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT IS THIS THE GREATEST THING
LET’S TALK ABOUT THIS
Clamp absolutely set the precedent for this with our visit to Shura/Shara all those years ago. We’ve SEEN the possibility of being in the past and future of the same world and teleporting between the two. We knew the feathers could appear pretty much anywhere in the timeline of a world, given how time works differently across the mutliverse, and we DID just straight up go backwards and forwards in time via Mokona, so it’s absolutely possible for them to appear in the Past of the Kingdom of Clow.
WHICH IS APPARENTLY ACID TOKYO????
WHICH JUST ABSOLUTELY BLOWS MY MIND WHAT THE FUCK
WHAT A WAY TO TIE IT ALL TOGETHER??
X/1999 IS THE SET UP TO THE CLOW KINGDOM?
THE CLOW KINGDOM IS IN THE RUINED ECOLOGICAL DISASTER OF OUR OWN CURRENT WORLD???
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle as a pseudo-not-really-but-kind-of-sequel-event to Cardcaptor Sakura but ACTUALLY ALSO being the sequel-kind-of-but-not-exactly sequel to X/1999???? Or Alternate Timeline X/1999? Where things are ever so slightly different but the world was ruined in the same way?
AND THE RESERVOIR
THE RESERVOIR IN ACID TOKYO IS THE RESERVOIR IN THE CLOW RUINS????
I’m REELING OVER THIS
THEY SET THAT UP
SAKURA WALKED THROUGH THE DESERT TO PURIFY THE WATER TO SAVE THESE PEOPLE AND IT MADE THE RESERVOIR THAT LOVED SAKURA SO MUCH THAT IT PROTECTS HER
AND WATANUKI! WATANUKI WAS AN ESSENTIAL PIECE OF SETTING UP THE RESERVOIR IN A WORLD BEFORE HE EVEN EXISTED IN THAT TIMELINE
And that’s Definitely the feather they’re talking about, isn’t it? The feather that Sakura left in Acid Tokyo is still in the Reservoir right now, and is the reason the water is magic and loves her so much - because it’s a piece of her, and -... well, a piece of her clone. But it’s a piece of SAKURA, and so they resemble and resonate with each other, and that's why the water is so close to her, but 'Sakura' can’t absorb the feather because she’s already a full person and those aren’t her memories, but the memories of her clone.
Meanwhile Sakura (ie, our cloned Sakura) is currently on the other side of the portal at a point in time that DIDN’T exist a few seconds ago, for Original 'Sakura', but the rest of the universe has moved on and decades have passed (even though no time at all has passed for her) and now the feather from her clone has ended up in the past that set up the reservoir potentially centuries before she was even born.
Timeline!
Oh my god?
Oh my god.
I’m going to be thinking about this forever.
No wait I’m not done ACID TOKYO WAS like THE point in the narrative where everything changed forever. And from a Tsubasa point of view it felt like a world picked at random for all the Important Narrative changes to take place - but it never was! It was the most important world of all! It was the Clow Kingdom!
So Syaoran lived his life in the Clow Kingdom, and then his soul collapsed in Acid Tokyo, which was ALSO the Clow Kingdom, and then he went and died defending Lava Lamp, in the Clow Kingdom. All at completely different points in the timeline but all in the exact same world.
Though I will say I am thoroughly baffled by the connection between the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and THE CLOW RUINS???
ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO BE THE SAME BUILDING?
Oh my god they’re in the same location aren’t they. The reservoir was underneath it and now it’s under the ruins. I suppose they have Magic so they could probably reshape them however they want but WHAT A CON CLAMP HAVE PULLED ON US
TO SPEND THE ENTIRE MANGA STARING AT THE WINGS OF THE CLOW RUINS AND THEY WERE SECRETLY WAITING FOR THE RIGHT TIME TO TELL US THAT WE WERE ACTUALLY LOOKING AT THE TOKYO METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT BUILDING ALL ALONG
THE AUDACITY OF IT ALL

Mokona is still here!
I know this is The Moment That Is Occurring Starting Now but I’m immediately distracted by Mokona’s eyes. Which always do that, kind of, but like
Tumblr media
Snatched
She’s out here with full Shoujo Eye Magic and I love that for her.
Meanwhile we’re talking about feathers or something I guess let’s pay attention
Tumblr media
I am so so so very over the way he explains things but yes, yes we are aware that things have changed. In the past and the future. And that the universe is falling apart. It has been completely impossible to miss at any point ever. Thank you for the continuous reminder.
"There wasn’t a feather here before but now there is." That’s not hard to explain Evil Wolverine why do you have to do this every time.
Tumblr media
I don’t think I have the language context to understand his point about the cadence of people’s names so I’m ignoring that and just focusing on the other things
Is he talking about Acid Tokyo
We haven’t seen any other world where they are fiercely fighting over water in a desert
Is he implying this is Acid Tokyo
IS HE
I'm just going to turn the page to double check before going on about this too long BUT PLEASE PICTURE ME LIKE THIS FOR THE MOMENT

HERE WE GO!
ARE YOU READY TO WITNESS THE EVENTS AS THEY UNFOLD?
BECAUSE HERE THEY ARE! THEY ARE HERE!
JUST IN CASE YOU MISSED THE FACT THE FINAL EVENTS ARE HAPPENING ALLOW ME TO LET YOU KNOW: THAT TIME IS NOW ACTUALLY
RIGHT NOW IN FACT! THE TIME IN WHICH WE ARE SPEAKING IS WHEN THEY WILL BEGIN! IE, CURRENTLY!!!
