Chapter 5: Avengers: Age of Ultron - Two Ghosts
Tumblr media
Part 9:
“Say hi to Auntie Nat and Auntie Y/n,” I listened to Laura’s voice on the video of baby Nathan that she sent us. “Look at your cousin, Rina,” I showed the video to my daughter. “He’s cute right?” I smiled as she nodded.
Walking through the hallways of the new Avengers facility was something else. “The rules have changed,” said Steve. “We're dealing with something new,” I looked at the three men. “Well, the Vision's artificial intelligence.” “A machine.” “So it doesn't count,” Steve tried his best, hoping his failure would be overlooked by this. “No. It's not like a person lifting the hammer,” shrugged Dad who was also on Steve’s side on this one. “Right. Different rules for us.” “And what do I get? I lifted the hammer,” I asked and Steve looked surprised along with my father. “Free vacation to Asgard?” Offered Thor. “I will take you up on that one.”
“Aren’t you bummed that Tony is stepping back?” Asked Steve as we made our way back inside. “He won’t stay away for long, I know him.” “And what about you? Taking some time to yourself and Katarina?” “Maybe… But we have plenty to do here, so maybe some other time…” We reached the hall where Natasha was. “You want to keep staring at the wall, or do you want to go to work? I mean, it's a pretty interesting wall,” said Steve, and Natasha turned around immediately. “I thought you and Tony were still gazing into each other's eyes. How do we look?” She asked as she walked up to us. I handed her the tablet that held all the information that we’d need to make new Avengers. “Well, we're not the '27 Yankees.” The stupid baseball references. “We've got some hitters.” “They're good. They're not a team,” I said. “Let's beat 'em into shape.”
***
Steve was given the task to show the 4 new team members the whole facility. Since it is a big building, I thought I would just relax a little with Katarina in the sleeping floor’s living room. We watched some cartoons and had some fruit snacks.
We were sitting on the floor, playing with some wooden building toys when Katarina threw her hands in the air and smiled widely, looking behind me. I turned around and saw Natasha smiling at my daughter. Katarina stood up and ran to her. “Hey Bubba,” Nat picked her up and kissed all over her face, making the little girl laugh so hard. “How about you watch some cartoons with Auntie Maria while I talk to your Mama, hm? We could get ice cream after,” Natasha whispered to her and she nodded. Maria came in and took Katarina with her.
Natasha watched as Hill walked off with my daughter before turning to look at me. She put her hands in her pockets and stood up straight. “What is happening?” I was confused about the situation. I sat up on the couch and with a big sigh, she stood in front of me. “I want you to listen to what I’m gonna say next, without interrupting me. I thought about it… a lot, so please hear me out,” she said and I nodded.
“We’ve had a rough couple of months, maybe even a year. I think we both made it difficult but I did a lot of awful things. I said a lot of things that I regret. I never intended to refer to you as a…” she cleared her throat. “A whore,” I helped her out. “Yes, I’m sorry about that. We were extremely mean to each other but you still looked out for me and I’m thankful for that…” “Natalia, stop with the big speech. We both know that we didn’t mean the things we said. We talked about this,” I spread my arms and she sighed, looking everywhere but me. She was fidgeting with her hands, she looked very nervous. “Nat…” “I love you, Y/n. And this thing with Bruce just made me realize that I could never love someone like I do you. What I’m trying to say is…” My eyes were wide open at this point. “Is that I’d like us to try again with full honesty and directness, no hiding things from the past.”
I was speechless for a second and very much surprised. Getting to this point meant that we really treated each other shit and it clearly affected both our lives. For Natasha to stand here and talk about her feelings is beyond her. And I respect that and am glad to see her be more connected to her emotions.
But she can’t expect us to go straight back to where we left off even though I miss her a lot too.
“I hope you don’t think that we can go back to exactly where we left things off,” I glanced down at my hands then slowly looked back up at her hoping she wouldn’t throw a tantrum.
“Yeah, I know that. But Y/n…” She sat down next to me and reached for my hand. At first, I was hesitant to let her take a hold of it but my senses seemed to shut down and she easily did as she wished. “We can work this out. Slowly but we can. We got through more difficult times together and separately too. Дорогая (darling), it’s us.”
One look in her eyes and I got back into the same moment I fell in love with her. Natasha doesn’t change in a lot of ways, her heart will always be the same but as a person, she evolves a lot. Maybe not fast but very efficiently. I believe she learned and found out what I meant by being honest. Bruce didn’t speak about his past often but he didn’t hide a single thing and I think she realized how important honesty is in every relationship. She needed more proof I guess.
But man how I am in love with this woman. She will never fail to amaze me. No matter what will happen to us, she will forever be my always.
“I miss you a lot, Nat,” I squeezed her hand. Her eyes were full of hope and she was so eager for my answer. “I want to try again too, but things are different. I have a plus one now. She’s growing so fast and the thing with James is very unstable. We won’t have as much time together as we used to. Katarina is my number one priority now.” “And I understand that completely. Oh and besides she loves me, come on. I’m her personal clown basically,” she smirked and it made me laugh because it was true. “Let me take you on a date and we’ll see how it goes,” Natasha suggested. “I’d like that.”
***
“I’ll see you tomorrow, okay? You have fun with Grandpa,” I kissed the side of Katarina’s head before she ran off to her playroom. “Not that I mind spending time with the little devil here, but where are you going?” He crossed his arms and tilted his head. “I’m uhm… going on a date,” I cleared my throat, avoiding his eyes. “With whom?” “Natasha,” I mumbled, scratching the back of my neck. “Who?” “Natasha, I’m going out with Natasha.”
Silence fell on us, and I didn’t know what he was thinking because I didn’t even wanna know to be honest. “Okay, have fun.” And then he left for the playroom. “My family is so weird.”
***
Getting ready was nerve-wracking. I felt like we were gonna meet for the first time again, like we never even dated and I was extremely nervous. Even though we both want this to work out, nobody knows if it will or not. I made sure I looked my best, ready to make Natasha swoon.
On the way to the restaurant, I checked the time about a hundred million times just as many times I looked in my little pocket mirror to look at my makeup.
“So this is a date, huh?” Asked Happy from the front seat. “Yeah. I’m actually a little nervous,” I chuckled nervously. “Oh please, if you didn’t exist I don’t think Romanoff would have feelings,” he said and I took that as a compliment. “With you weird people comes strange history, don’t let that get between the two of you. I’ve seen the way you look at each other, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Be grateful to have found it already.” “Wise words from the man himself. How are you still single Happy? You’re a good catch,” I suggested. “Your dad. That’s why.” “I wouldn’t even doubt that.”
We pulled up to the restaurant and I got even more anxious. “You’ll be great. She’s already head over heels for you.” “Thanks. Go home and get on a dating app or something.” “You’re worse than him sometimes,” he said, as I got out of the car. “Bye Happy.”
He drove away and I took a deep breath before turning to the entrance of the restaurant.
I asked for the reservation and the lady at the front showed me to the table where Natasha was sitting already. She looked beautiful. I wasn’t the only one who went all out on looks.
She had this amazing deep green suit on and honestly, I wanted to die from how good she looked in it. With her red hair… perfection.
Once she saw me, she put her phone away quickly and stood up. She looked a little jumpy.
“Hey,” she said softly as she took a good look at me. “Hi, you look amazing,” I said and leaned in to give a kiss on her cheek. Her hand came up to my waist, knowing her way around. “So do you, as always.”
We sat down and soon the waiter appeared with our menus and we started to pick and choose our meal. “This is a very nice place, how did you find it?” I asked as I looked around the beautifully decorated restaurant. It was very fancy and it felt like I was in a movie.
“Maria suggested it, I didn’t know she goes to places like this. I didn’t know she goes anywhere, to be honest,” said Natasha as she looked through the different options on the menu.
“Should we get the wine we used to get?” Asked Nat. “Yeah, I was thinking the same. I have my dish too so if you’re ready we can order,” I closed the menu. “Yeah, I’m ready.”
We soon ordered our food and as the waiter left, my nerves came back as I looked at the beautiful redhead in front of me. “Why are you nervous? It’s not like we haven’t done this before,” she said with a grin on her face. I sighed with a small smile. I can’t hide a single emotion from her.
“I know we did, but I still feel like it’s a first date. We haven’t talked about our lives a lot lately and I don’t know… We also changed a lot so it’s kinda like a… upgraded version of us, first date.” “Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
“So anything new that I may not know about?” I asked as the waiter came back with our wine. “Uhm… I’m not sure. Oh I got a cat,” she said and I couldn’t believe what she just said. “You what?” “I have a cat. She’s been outside of the apartment building for a while and I kept feeding her, and after a week I just took her in. It was pretty lonely at home so I thought why not?” Explained Natasha and I just smiled. “That’s cute. I’d never thought you’d take some random cat in. Does she have a name?” “Liho. It’s fitting for her situation.”
We talked through the whole night and I just felt so relieved. It’s like we haven’t skipped time. The conversation didn’t stop, we shared everything and more with each other and I was really happy.
“Have you heard anything from Barnes?” Natasha asked softly and I glanced up at her before going back to my dinner. “He hasn’t even checked the mailbox for at least a month. I just hope he’s alive. Katarina already asked about where he is and I don’t even know myself,” I sighed, and the next moment Natasha’s hand was on mine giving it a gentle squeeze. “I’m sure he’s fine.”
“And how’s it being a mom? You wished for that since I’ve known you,” smiled Nat. “It's honestly one of the best things in life. She’s such an amazing little girl, I mean you’ve seen how incredible she is. She doesn’t have a bad bone in her body. It’s just so hard to see her grow so fast. I’ve missed so much already with her and I don’t want to lose a single thing. I’ve never planned to have a child at this age but I couldn’t imagine my life without her anymore.” “You’re an amazing mom, Y/n, I hope you know that,” said Natasha with a cute smile on her face. “Thanks, I try my best,” I looked down at my food shyly. “Do you want kids?” I asked bluntly and I didn’t know if she’s gonna take the question well but she just looked surprised. “Well… I haven’t really considered it. I wouldn’t say I didn’t think about it but… I don’t know, it seems like a very far stretch.” “You’d be a great mom,” I said and she looked at me with a concerned look. “You think so?” “Oh definitely, I see you with the Bartons and Katarina. You’d give everything to your baby the moment they arrive. You would be the good cop for sure,” I chuckled. “No, I wouldn’t. I’d be strict,” she straightened her posture, trying to look strict. “Oh come on, Natalia… you would spoil them for life,” I said and she thought about it for a second. “You’re probably right.”
“You said you haven’t spoken to your family since Russia. What’s that all about?” I asked and she seemed like she was ready to share her story. “They are not my real parents but we… We acted like a family for 3 years on a mission. It was the four of us: Alexei, Melina, Yelena and me. That was the only time I got to experience a family life. Alexei and Melina had to retrieve some data in Ohio so we lived there for that time. But of course, we had to go back once they got the job done. Melina was raised in the Red Room and I think she still works for them, Alexei is in jail if I’m right, and Yelena… I have no idea. I couldn’t trace her back to anywhere. We were used like puppets, Yelena was so small that she barely understood the concept of us being a fake family.” “Were Alexei and Melina good parents?” I asked and she shrugged. “They did the best they could.”
“Any plans for the near future?” Asked Natasha as we were waiting for our dessert. “Actually… I’ve been in talks with Nick and Maria about starting a new… SHIELD, but with a couple of changes. We’ve been compromised way too many times since SHIELD operates and we need to change that. So if you’re looking for a new employer…” I suggested and she chuckled. “Then you’re gonna be my boss again.” “When was I ever your boss?” “When I was in Stark Industries,” she said and I playfully rolled my eyes. “Okay, well that wasn’t on paper. You were my dad’s assistant.” “You could’ve bossed me around if you wanted to,” she said with a slight smirk on her face. “I should’ve lived with the opportunity.”
After we had our dessert, we bickered over who’s gonna pay but in the end Natasha won. We called a cab for ourselves and as each of our cars arrived we turned to each other on the streets of Manhattan.
“I had a great time,” she said with a knowing smile. “It wasn’t so bad,” I shrugged with a smirk and she chuckled lowly. “I think we’ll be fine, Romanoff,” I bumped my elbow into hers and she quickly had her eyes on me. She looked almost shocked when I said this and I just thought she had some hope in herself. “So it didn’t work out the first time. That’s what second chances are for,” I said and with a kiss on her cheek, I said my goodbyes. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” “See you tomorrow,” her cheeks rounded with a slight pink tint on them. We both left for our cars, making our way home.

Pt 1 Pt 2 Pt 3

"They're still looking for you," Remus said in a hushed voice, so he wouldn't disturb Lyra. I'd become a sensitive topic around her, the even mildest mention of Sirius leaving. She didn't understand what was going on, not in its full context, but she did know that the threat of them being separated again was real.
"I would assume as much, consider the accusations against me," Sirus said loftily. "I am a suspected mass murderer, after all."
“And kidnapper, don’t forget that bit.”
Sirius scoffed. “It’s not kidnapping, she’s my child.”
“They don’t see it that way. Oddly enough, it’s that cousin of yours leading the charge on getting her back out of your hands.”
“Who, Andromeda?”
“No, Narcissa. She’s been pulling a number of strings her and Lucius have to try and put emphasis on getting Lyra back during this manhunt. She's all over the papers, doing interviews begging for the public's help to deliver her home safely.”
A cool fury overtook him. “How thoughtful of her. What exactly has she been saying to the press? That I took her to raise her up as loyal supporter of You-Know-Who, because that’s more her style than mine. Does she think if Lyra is found she gets to keep her or something? She's not taking my child, not under any circumstance.”
Remus gave him a sharply pointed look as Lyra's head tilted toward the angry hissing. Sirius collected himself and gave her a reasuring smile, sticking his tounge out at her for good measure just to get a one of her sweet little giggles.
"I’m not suggesting you hand her over to Narcissa, Sirius, I’m just informing you about what's going on. For now, you seem to be safe here, but I'm not sure what sort of leads they have on you, and I think you should consider leaving at some point. England would be best, but here at the very least."
"I don't want to give our position away now by sticking my head out of the hole. What good would that do?"
Remus leaned in so he could whisper. Sirius' lips twitched as he fought a smile, having his worried face so close once more after years of not seeing it. He looked like he’d aged a decade, but it was still his Moony under all those lines. "This won't work in the long term," he insisted, that crease between his brows digging deeper. "Lyra's content right now, but she's going to grow tired of being confined inside all day."
"She's been fine so far."
"Yes, and that's concerning, Sirius. It is concerning a child her age is so okay with this situation. I know you are enjoying having her tied to your side after being apart for so long, but she should be begging to be going outside, to be able to run around and explore. We should be finding her somewhere she can live a relatively normal life."
The damn breaking, Sirius did finally smile. "We, huh? You plan on running away with us, Remus?"
Remus rolled his eyes, leaning away. "You know what I meant. I'm going to help you find somewhere the two of you can be safe until your name can be cleared. It's going to take time, so we have to figure out the long term plan."
“Sure thing, Moony.”
Lyra frowned as she overheard what her father had said, standing up. “I thought I was your moon?”
Sirius turned to her. “You are, Lyra, you are my Mini Moon. This here is Moony. He’s the big one.”
Seeing she was still not satisfied with this answer, Remus kindly told her, “I promise, you’re still his favorite moon.”
Lyra turned back to her father. “Do you promise?”
“Oh absolutely.”
Pleased with this answer, Lyra swayed happily, a big smile crossing her face. She ran over to him, pulling herself into her father's lap.
"Moony here was just saying we should look for some other living accommodations. Find a place that we can spread out a bit. What do you think? I’m thinking somewhere warm, tropical. Somewhere with a beach. Anything you'd like to add to the search requirements?"
Lyra thought hard, her little brows furrowed in thought as she leaned her head against her father’s shoulder. “…a dragon.”
The two men chuckled. “There’s no better defense system out there,” Remus agreed. "You'll have a fun time learning to train it."
“Alrighty, when the time is right, we’ll pack up here, and go find our beach home with a dragon. Just as soon as we pick up your god brother.”
And there fell Remus’ smile. “Sirius, no.”
“I can’t leave him, Moony. James wanted him with us if anything happened to him and Lily.”
“That was before you were a criminal on the run.  He’s with family, he’s safe.”
“Have you checked in on him? Personally?” There was silence. “Yeah, I didn’t think so. Look, Lily didn’t talk about it often, but her and that sister of hers were about as close as my mother and I were.”
“You can’t kidnap a child that isn’t your own, especially not him. You weren't walking around after You-Know-Who was defeated, he was deemed the Boy Who Lived. There isn't a witch or wizard out there who doesn't know his name. The entirety of the Wizarding world will be in an uproar if they found out you took him.”
“It’s not kidnapping, it’s putting things right,” Sirius snapped. He could feel the grip of Lyra’s little fist in his shirt grow tight with anxiety. He rubbed a soothing hand up and down her back as he tried to smooth his ruffled feathers. “I cannot leave James’ son where he is unless I know for certain he is better off there.”
Remus chewed this over, looking incredibly conflicted. It was clear he didn’t think it was a good idea, but he knew Sirius well enough to know when he wasn’t winning an argument, as logical as it was.
“…fine, Pads. I will go check on Harry—”
“No, I will. I am going to see for myself.” He stood, handing Lyra over to Remus, only for her to immediately scramble out of his hold, arms raised to be picked up again.
“I must not bring this up enough, but you are a fugitive. A very well known one who already has his face plastered across ever wizarding and muggle street corner. You could be recognized!”
“You’ll stay here and watch Lyra for me won’t you?” Sirius smoothed down her hair as her arms flailed even more desperately. “It shouldn’t take more than a few days.”
“Is there a reason you’re wanting to go instead of me? Do you think I’ll lie to you about the conditions he’s in.”
Sirius said nothing, just stared at his friend with a cool, blank sort of stare that was meant to speak for him. And it did, as Remus’ face dropped, and a look of restrained shame came over him. He hadn't yet forgiven him for not looking in on Lyra, to know she wasn't where she was meant to be, for having done nothing to fix it.
“You’ll watch Lyra?” he repeated once he sure the message had come across.
“…yeah. I’ll stay and watch Lyra.”
Lyra let out a wail, the classical toddler sort, and Sirius at once swung her into his arms, laying kisses alongside her head. “Oh, my sweet little moon, what is the matter? I won't be gone long. You won’t miss me will you?” She cried, shoving her head into his shoulder. “Get yourself a break from your ol’ dad. You'll probably be glad I'm gone.” She let out a resounding NO, which died into a whimpering pout. “You might actually get yourself a good nights sleep for once, won’t have to listen to my snoring all night, like SHHZZZZZZZ—!!” Lyra began to giggle manically, her pouting from just a moment before masked by her amusement with her dad’s antics.
"You don't snore like that!" she laughed.
"No? Are you sure? Doesn't sound like this at all: SHHHHHHHHZZZZZZ!!!!"
She pulled away from his shoulder. "You're so silly!"
"I hope you never forget that." He pushed the hair out of her face so he could see it. “You and Remus will have a grand time without me. A pair of moons the two of you are. And he's a great cook, much better than me.”
"Does he cook gormee?"
"Better: he cooks edible." He pressed his forehead to hers. "You promise you'll be good for him?" She nodded. "Make at least one mess for him to clean up? A real big one, with a big impossible stain to remove?"
"Promise you're coming back?"
"Consider it an unbreakable vow."
"Now I want a promise of my own," Remus said. "Promise you'll think about what I've said, and that taking Harry is a last resort."
"As if I could rid myself of your dulcet tones, Moony."
                                   ⁂   ⁂   ⁂
Lyra wasn't quite sure about this man named Remus yet. When he’d first arrived all those days ago, she was sure he was there to take her father away. He’d been so angry, and he’d made her father angry, and she had wanted nothing more than for him to go away and never come back.
Instead, her father invited him inside, and they all ate dinner together—or, more like they watched Lyra eat her dinner and then awkwardly stirred their own—then her father put her in their bed, and they sat in silence until she’d convinced them she was asleep. Then they spoke in very quiet whispers on the other side of the room, in voices so low Lyra couldn’t make out the words and eventually just fell asleep. She had expected him to be gone in the morning, but they were both still there, neither looking like they had gotten any sleep. Her father took her nap with her that day.
The man Remus stayed for two more nights before he left, and that was the last she thought they’d see of him. But it wasn’t long before he was back, and this time with food, and lots of it. Her father had been excited, and the two of them spent the afternoon fixing up a shelf to store things on and organizing the cans and boxes.
He’d brought more food with him every time he left and came back, and Lyra was starting to think he might be around for a while. It seemed to make her father happy, but she still wasn’t quite sure she felt the same. He was a stranger, yet there was something oddly familiar about him.
That morning, after breakfast, her father kissed her on the forehead and promised he’d be back soon. Lyra would have gone and hid as soon as her father was gone, if there was somewhere in her new home for her to hide. All there was was the space under the bed, which the man Remus could see quite easily to where she lay under there.
Just to prove how easy it was to find her, he pulled up the dangling covers and got down onto his knees to look at her. "Are you pouting down there?" he asked.
Lyra shook her head, hiding her face in her crossed arms.
"Are you sure?" She nodded her head. "Well, if you're going to stay down there, would you like a little blanket to wrap yourself up in." She hesitated before nodding her head. He pulled the length of fabric she'd claimed as hers off the top of the bed and handed it over to her. "Would you like a pillow too? In case you get tired?" Another nod. "You're looking pretty set down there. Would you like some juice as well, any snacks? No? Okay, you let me know if you want any books or toys to keep you entertained."
Those were things she had now. Books and toys. She hadn’t had any when they first came to this new place, and she’d had to make do with her imagination and whatever makeshift thing her father could conjure up. They were some of the things this man Remus had brought when he'd brought them food. Her father sat with her before bed every night and read her a story that she got to pick, using the few stuffies she'd been gifted as props for the voices he used.
Her lip jutted out as she realized she wasn't getting a story tonight.
She was very careful not to let her sniffles be heard from her position under the bed, hiding them in her blanket. Father didn't seem to mind her cries, she'd learned it was fine when he heard them, but grandmother had been different. She would become very cross anytime she heard Lyra crying. She didn’t know about other people, she didn’t know about him and she didn’t want to test it.
She saw one of her new stuffies on the ground, just a bit away from the edge of the bed. It was a frog, with long legs, floppy webbed feet and a big head that usually tipped it over. She’d named him Jumper, because that was what frog did. Wanting it, she reached out from her hiding spot, straining to reach it.
From where he sat, the man Remus paused, then stood up and walked over. Her hand quickly retreated, afraid of getting caught.
He reached down, picking up the stuffed frog, and placing it just within Lyra’s reach. She didn’t reach out for it now, fearing it was a trick to get her out from her hiding spot. It fell onto its face and he took the time to set it back up into its seated position, holding a hand out to make sure it stayed, before, surprisingly, walking back to his early seat and resuming his activity.
She waited a full minute just to see if it were some sort of trick, before reaching out and grabbing it. He did nothing about it.
With a friend safely secured, Lyra now wiped her tears in its fur, and cried in silent misery, missing her father, until she fell asleep.
When she woke next, the sun had reached further across the floor. She could still see Remus’ feet across the room, standing now and chopping something up. Her stomach growled at the thought of food, and suddenly she realized just how hungry she really was.
“…can I have a snack?”
He paused his chopping for a moment. “Yeah, you can have a little snack,” he said easily. “I’m making lunch right now, so only a little one, to tide you over. You’ll have to come out though to get it.”
The thought of a snack was a bit more appealing than staying under the bed all day. With some reluctance, Lyra crawled out.
The man Remus smiled at her as she did. “Nice to finally see you, moon,” he said in a soft, kind voice. The scars across his face stretched, but in a nice sort of way, a familiar sort. “How about a bit of fruit? I’ve got apples I could cut up.”
Lyra nodded her approval and came to sit at the table, waiting for her food. She brought Jumper with her, sitting him in her lap.
“We’ve still got half a day left,” he said as he cooked and she nibbled on her apple. She watched him warily as she did so. “Is there anything you are wanting to do?”
She shook her head wordlessly, sitting further back in her chair.
He hummed thoughtfully. “Could you help me with something then?” Her head tilted in question. He picked up a cutting board with slices of bread on it, some butter and a dull knife and placed it in front of her. “I’m busy with the stew. Do you mind buttering some bread for the two of us? Something to go with our lunch. It’d be very helpful.”
That caught her interest. She didn’t think she’d ever really been helpful before. Her father was always able to handle everything for the two of them, and Kreature had never needed her for help, not ever.
She busied herself with buttering the bread, being sure that it got into every corner of the bread. When the man checked back in her work he nodded in approval. “Yes, this will do just nicely. You did a really good job, Lyra.”
Her heart soared at that despite her wariness of him. She couldn’t wait to tell her father that she’d done a good job when he got home, he’d be so happy to hear it.
A little bit later, lunch was ready, and they had their actual meal. He was a better cook than her father, that much was unfortunately for certain. Kreature had been a good cook as well, and she’d only just gotten used to what her father served.
“You can play with your toys while I clean up, Moon,” he said once they were finished.
He stood to clear away their dishes.
“...why did you try and take my father away?”
He was startled by the question. Lyra, having only just gathered up the courage to ask, sat on her hands and hoped he wouldn’t be too upset with her asking.
“I…I thought your dad did a very bad thing,” he explained cautiously. “The sort of thing someone has to go to jail for, so they can be punished.”
“Did he do a really bad thing?”
“No, there was a mistake. It just looked like he did.”
“Grandmother says he did something bad too.”
“A lot of people think so. That’s why there are people are after him right now, because not everyone knows the truth.” Remus leaned down onto his elbows so he could level their eyesights. “You did a very brave thing, coming out that day to help your dad. You helped to convince me to let him explain himself.” He smiled. “But please, don’t do that again. I’m very scared the next person won’t do the same and you could be hurt.”
She hadn’t thought so much that she was saving her father that day as much as she wanted to be sure, wherever he went, she went with him.
Remus reached out and took one of the frog’s little hands. “You know, this was my stuffie when I was your age. I took him everywhere with me, even when I got a bit old for toys like this, because I was a very lonely little boy. But after I met your dad, and our friend James, I found I didn’t need him so much.”
Lyra thought on that for a moment before holding the stuffie out. “Do you want him back?”
“No, sweet heart, I gave him to you. I think you’ll be a better friend to him than I will. Besides, I got my friend back. And maybe you and I can be friends too.”
“Because you’re a moon and I’m a moon too?”
Remus laughed softly. “Yeah, exactly.”
“But I’m still my dad’s favorite.”
He reached out and gave her nose a teasing pinch, making her giggle. “Braggart.”
                                  ⁂   ⁂   ⁂
Now no longer suspicious of the new figure in her and her father’s lives, Lyra decided she actually liked Remus quite a lot. He wasn’t as good at doing the voices as her father was while reading her stories, but he was very good at telling new ones, ones he didn’t even need a book for. He let her color his drawings and in turn let her help him make supper too. And right before bed, when she really started to miss her father, he made shadow puppets against the wall for her to watch as she fell asleep.
“Night, little moon.” He smoothed a hand over her hair.
“Night big moon.” She grabbed his hand, much larger than her own, and held that in one hand, her other arm wrapped around Jumper, just until she fell asleep.
Later that night, Lyra was woken first to the sound of heavy rain and thunder. She rubbed her eyes and turned toward the window where water pelted against the glass. There was a new sound, one that had Remus jerking upright in the chair he’d claimed as his bed, and grabbing his wand. He was silhouetted by the next flash of lighting, his entire frame ridgid.
“Lyra,” he hissed in a low voice. “Under the bed. Now—”
The door opened, and he pointed his wand towards it.
“Mind getting us a towel, Moony?” her father asked, setting down a little boy. “We’re dripping all over.”

Fruits Basket Another Headcanons: Mina Sohma Edition
• Mina Sohma was born via a surrogate to Momiji Sohma (31) and his husband, Megumi Sohma (28)
• Her birthday is April 5th (possibly in 2013-2014 if I did my math right)
• Almost as soon as she was born, Momiji began calling her "Mii" for short, which means "beauty"
• She is one of the youngest Sohma cousins, only being older than her own brother and Hiro & Kisa's youngest daughter
• As a baby, Mina was always looking around, smiling, and giggling
• However, she was not exactly an easy baby. Getting her to sleep at night was extremely difficult, and she'd often get cranky during the day because of it.
• It was a pretty often occurrence that Momiji would come back from the office in the evening to find his husband sitting up in a chair, cradling Mina against his chest
• That seemed to be the only way she would sleep, and it was always in the early afternoons
• Due to their work schedules, Mina was closer to Megumi than Momiji during her early years
• Momiji had to work long hours, and was often gone on business trips. Meanwhile, Megumi was home every day by 4:00, and he was always the one to pick Mina up from daycare
• When Mina was about 3-4, though, Momiji would occasionally bring her to work with him, and Momo would help keep an eye on her. She's always had a wonderful relationship with her aunt because of this.
• She was a very shy toddler, pretty much always clinging onto her parents or her aunts. • She did like most of her older cousins, but Hajime and Mutsuki frightened her when she was very young. Mutsuki was very loud, and Hajime was usually glaring.
• She grew out of this shyness after starting school; now she almost has zero concept of stranger danger
• she visits Hajime and Mutsuki all of the time, too, and Hajime will sometimes take care of her when she is sick
• Age wise, she is closest to Miyoko (Kyo & Tohru's daughter) and Izumi (Hiro & Kisa's oldest daughter), who are both roughly a year older than her
• The three of them have a knack for getting into trouble....and then getting right back out of it because they are so cute
• (Usually, Miyoko & Izumi find the trouble, and Mina just goes along with it)
• Ironically, they're also the three cousins most prone to getting into arguments at family gatherings ("Mina, you go play on one side of the house. Izumi, go to the other. And Miyoko, you go outside.")
• Although they are eight years apart, Mina was always very close to Riku and Sora. They both loved playing with her; Riku has definitely let her paint his nails
• They also both take her to the batting cages; Riku usually just cheers from the sidelines. Sora will bat, but she is comically bad at it, and Mina always laughs about her lack of skill
• She first got into baseball when she was about five. Her fathers had tried getting her into dance first, but she never really enjoyed it. • Still, she's definitely more of a "girly-girl" than a tom-boy
• Aunt Momo is definitely her favorite Sohma adult, but she also really loves Tohru and Rin
• On her other side, she also has Aunt Saki (she definitely thought her aunt and her father were witches, and thought that was the coolest thing ever. She was very upset to find out the she did not possess any powers like theirs) and her cousin Rio
• Rio absolutely loves her; that side of the family was not very big, so she was his first cousin. She loves Rio, too. They make bracelets together.
• Speaking of which, Mina is a jewelry making FIEND. Beads are EVERYWHERE. Both Momiji and Megumi have a necklace that they must wear all of the time because she made it for them.
• Her younger brother, Makoto, was born when she was five years old
• At first, she actually hated being a big sister. She did NOT like that her parents' attention was no longer focused on her. She would refuse to hold or play with her brother most of the time.
• In fact, she would even ask to stay with Aunt Momo just so she wouldn't have to be around him (and so she could be the center of someone's attention)
• It didn't take long, though, for her parents to figure out what was going on, and they had a conversation with her about the change in their family dynamic, but they also made sure to give her equal attention
• Now, she likes having a younger brother, and she's always trying to teach him new things or make funny faces
• Watermelon is her favorite food in the world, but ironically she doesn't really like candy or cakes
• She collects plushies, and Momiji always brings her one back from business trips • What she does like is hot chocolate. When Momiji comes back from a business trip, the two of them always drink hot chocolate together.
• When Mina gets older, she does join the school softball team.
• She does not follow her cousins to Kaibara, though, and actually goes to a very prestigious all girl's school nearby
• Her grades have always been very good, but she does get in trouble sometimes for being unable to sit still or talking out of turn/too loudly
• She has dreams to travel the world before eventually taking over the business of her grandfather and father

The Fire of the Innocent Sun, Jasper Hale x Fleur Swan: Chapter 1.
Tumblr media
Authors note: It's so strange writing on here again haha. I got every single account I had banned somehow. My backup imgoingtopluto got banned for some reason and then an account I made for a Harry Potter piece I was working on "heartfullofmidnightstars." Got banned 3 days after I made it. Maybe they thought I was a bot or something.
Also instead of being an idiot, I am now saving the new chapters I write on something I know I won't lose...
Anyways, enough rambling enjoy the chapter!
"Oh, beautiful poison tree, let your power grow in me
Let your sorrow flow in me
Take away my blood and bones
Make your flowers deep inside of me."
Posion Tree by, Grouper.
Timeskip: A few months later
Ezra was easily the best way to get distracted, he could ease you of the nagging and troubling thoughts brewing within your mind. It seemed Bella and Edward were distant memories, ones whose trace was blown away by the wind. Everything seemed to be at peace no more conflicts or tensions between anyone around me. My life was finally falling into the peaceful place I always strived to get. I just got an amazing addition to that life.
Rosalie and I had been close before but it seemed Ezra brought us even closer than I could've thought. We both got what we wanted in the end, a son. I of course made Rosalie Ezra's godmother in case something were to happen to me. Almost everything was perfect except for one thing...time.
My little Ezra wasn't so little anymore, he is still technically a few months old but is already the size of a 4-year-old. It was quite jarring for all of us, and even more shocking for my father to see. No one knew how long we would have with him... but that made every moment I had with him more precious. We had made a quick visit to Alaska, we had told the Denali coven everything that had happened with me. They in return had some news to tell us. Irina had run off, leaving the coven... and they hadn't seen her for a few months now.
We had just made it back home when Leah, Ezra, and I all went for a walk out to the mountains. Snow was very intriguing to Ezra and he was currently catching snowflakes in the Air.
"Hey, Fleur... you guys find anything on... you know how fast Ez is aging?" I heard a voice breaking the silence.
I looked at Leah before speaking.
"We'll have to leave for Brazil soon, everyone thinks we might find answers on what to except with Ezra."
Leah just nodded.
Ezra ran up to us excitement was all over his little face.
"Mommy look! This one is all spikey!" He said.
Leah and I chuckled and I leaned down, grasping his hand and inspecting the little speck of ice.
"It's beautiful dove, why don't you go catch another one?"
He shot up high into the air again sticking his hand out. But he suddenly whipped his head to the side. I was met with a figure staring at us from afar... I knew who it was immediately.
"Who's that mommy?"
"It's our cousin from Denali. IRINA!" I yelled from afar, she took off as soon as she noticed I saw her. I quickly followed her knowing Ezra would be safe with Leah. I ran up the path she stood and listened to the thumping of her footsteps in the snow. They then stopped suddenly and I could hear the splashing of water. I looked down from the cliff I was standing on and the water rippled around as if someone jumped into it. I knew Irina had dived in... but why was she here? I ran back and grabbed Ezra I took both him and Leah back down to the house. I ran in quickly seeing everyone in the lounge room, just enjoying each other's company.
Jasper saw us and walked toward me, that same beautiful smile was on his face but it dropped when he saw how concerned I looked.
"Did something happen, love?" He asked. That got everyone else to look up from what they were doing.
"I saw Irina in the woods... when she saw us though she took off."
I heard Carlisle sigh in relief, he probably thought someone was injured.
"She called us this morning, she wanted to make amends with everyone." He explained.
"I guess seeing Leah must've overwhelmed her," Esme added.
"Oh... I wish she stayed, I wanted to apologize too."
"Don't worry darlin, she'll come around." Jasper comforted.
I let Ezra down to his feet and he walked toward the piano. It seemed he was born with a beautiful gift. I know for sure he didn't get it from me... I couldn't play the piano to save my life. He was playing a soft melody when I decided to join him. Jasper leaned on the back of the piano looking fondly at us.
"Look mommy just follow me, I'll teach you!" Ezra said, determination leaked from his voice.
"Dove I don't think you can teach me this... I'm hopeless."
"Oh, c'mon mommy don't underestimate yourself." His small hands then grabbed mine and guided me to the keys he was playing.
I heard the clicking of heels from behind me but I was too concentrated to see who it was. But then the sound of smashing glasses filled the air and we all stopped and turned around. Alice was the culprit of these noises. I knew by the look on her face that she had seen something... it didn't seem very good. Dean dropped the book he was holding and ran to her.
"Alice... what's wrong?" He asked concerningly.
"The Volturi. They're coming for us. Aro, Caius, Marcus, the Guard. And lrina. I think I saw Bella and Edward too." Alice said, shock was in her voice and her face was filled with dread.
"Ezra, come here dove." Jasper said taking Ezra's hand and holding him close.
"Why?" Carlisle asked in confusion.
"What did lrina see in the woods?" Jasper asked me.
"We were just walking." I replied.
"Ez was catching snowflakes." Leah added.
"Of course. Irina thinks Ezra's an Immortal Child." Carlisle said.
I just looked at everyone in confusion.
"I need a little more of an explanation here."

Chapter 2 - The Phone Call.
Prologue
Chapter 1
Masterlist
Disclaimer: I did not write this story as a way to fetishize children having children. It is not about that. I wrote this story because I wondered what it would be like if Harry had a son, who also became a celebrity during Harry’s career. In order for the age of Harry’s sons to fit the career timeline I had to lower the age of Harry. I do not believe that children having children is a good thing nor do I try to fetishize it. I understand that this topic may be disturbing or disgusting to some people. If you do not like the idea of this story, then you don’t need to read it.

[Harry Styles sitting next to Ben Andrews (Lux’s cousin]
October.28.2012 London, England
•Harry• "Hello, Benjamin." Noah greeted Lux's cousin, Ben looked up shyly before mumbling a hi and then looking down.
"You're quite intimidating." I chuckled, seeing he made Ben, who was talking to everyone go quiet. He had the same effect on the hostess.
"Good." He mumbled, sitting down in the seat, he loved that feeling. No one wanting to talk to him out fear. Just a 9-year-old boy who made everyone terrified and thrived off of it.
I never understood why, but there were many people who got highly intimidated of him. For years people told me that 'the way he stands screams danger'.
He's been like this ever since primary school, daycare even. A real tough guy that got every girl attracted to him, even if they were just 4-years-old.
His first fight was at 2-years-old, it started off as a yelling match, until Noah threw punches at the boy who was a year older then him, all over a simple wooden block. The fight result in Noah getting a "red card" from his disturbed daycare teacher and a 3-year-old with a bloody lip.
If someone were to come between him and his persona, something so powerful will arise in him. He'll curse at them, throw things, anything to show them who they've messed with.
That made Noah who he was.
It showed how much he needed to like and trust you in order for vulnerability to show. Some people called him mysterious after this trait.
What a great combination, mysterious and dangerous. Described the 142 centimeter boy perfectly.
I never encouraged, nor discouraged his hunger for being persuaded that way. But it was never an act either, it was truly how Noah was, he's always been like that and he always will be.
I may not understand other peoples perspectives of him, but I could see where they were coming from in a way.
He was the most stereotypical boy you could ever meet. He looks at every girl, he runs around without a shirt on, he swears, he fights, he played every sport he could think of when he was younger. His most favourite sport of all time being baseball, followed by ice hockey. And he played both from when he was a toddler until he was 7. Anything boys "typically did" he did it all because it was the way of his personality.
Noah took a seat in-between Tom and I, he rested his elbow on the table and ran his hand throw his hair, I noticed his eyes would glance over at Ben with almost a look of jealousy in his eyes.
Oh.
Ben was sitting to the left of me. Ever since Noah was a baby, he always sat to the left of me at restaurants. Everyone in our family knew it and consciously never sat there, but a 4-year-old boy wouldn't know that.
"Noah!" Lux giggled, pointing to him trying to get out of Lou's lap, Lou gave Noah a look asking if she could go to him. Noah nodded and Lux ran over to him.
"Hello Luxie," Noah smiled lifting her into his lap.
Everyone talked waiting for the waitress.
She came eventually, but when she got to Noah, she stuttered, almost taken aback. "Wow, you're eyes are so blue. Oh God, I'm sorry. I've just never seen that before, " she said mesmerized.
"Thanks," Noah stared directly into her eyes, on purpose. "Sorry, um what can I get you?" "Fish and chips please."
• • •
"Dad, hide me please," Noah whispered, panic in his voice. "What, Why?" Harry frowned confused by his sons actions, "That waitress, I know her, now hide me! Don't draw attention."
"Who, her?" Tom nodded to the woman who was walking over to the table, specifically right behind Noah's chair.
Noah nodded, sinking in his chair and cover the side of his face.
"Hello, Noah." She smiled, her British accent was thick, "How's it going?"
"It's going great," Noah swallowed hard, his knee starting to bounce up and down.
"My daughter's still waiting on that call from you," She said, "And I'm still waiting for my phone to get fixed Lucy," Noah said with gritted teeth.
"It's been almost 2 months, how long can it take?" Lucy raised her eyebrow.
"As long as it needs to be fixed again." Noah replied, jaw clentched.
"Here's her number again, just in case you forget it," She immediately took out her pen and pad, writing on it fast, and handing it to him.
"Never- never in my life have I seen someone try to get their daughter to date someone so bad," Noah grunted, taking the paper and shook his head,
"Some parents want what's best for their children Noah, and I see that your are. Or to you, I'm a bad mother for that right?" Lucy frowned at Noah, trying to make him feel bad.
"We're nine- That's not even- I don't even remember her name Lucy." Noah sighed trying to argue but giving up, "It's Sabrina, Sabrina McCullen." Lucy smiled knowing she was breaking Noah to say yes.
"Just give my daughter a chance, she's a model too, maybe that'll somewhat change your mind." Noah's eyes did perk up hearing the information, "I told you, when the phones fixed," he smiled fake and widely, "Now have a nice day."
"We'll be waiting," Lucy walked off, and that's when Noah groaned, slouching down in his seat, about to crumple the paper.
"Keep it son, you'll need it." Noah looked up to his father with discomfort in his eyes, before putting it in his pocket.
"Who was that?" Tom asked, "I met her here a few months ago and a few times after that, she wouldn't shut up about how her daughter was my age and that we should date."
"She gave me her daughters number, so I told her my phone was broken and when it got fixed then I'd give her call."
"But Noah, your phone works perfectly, why haven't you?" Harry questioned, earning a glare from Noah, "Not what she thinks is it? If she knew that, she would probably try to get mine and I don't want that."
"Just call her, you never know," Harry suggested, "Yeah, if she's anything like her mother, I'll know for sure," Noah shook his head sighing.
"I'm surprised, I've never known my son to give up a chance with a girl," Harry chuckled, "Well almost every girl I don't meet through her annoying mother."
"Wait, are you saying, Noah is scared of someone? The Noah Styles, scared of someone?" Lou said in a some what genuinely shocked voice, earning an eye roll from Noah.
"No, I'm not scared of her, it's called avoiding someone you don't have an interest in someone."
A phone then started to ring at the table, "Oh Noah, it can't be yours. Yours is broken." Lucy said walking with the drinks our table ordered prior to our last order, along with another waitress.
Noah took in a deep breathe through his nose and let it out the same way, a look of annoyance on his features as he looked at a smirking Tom.
"I'm sorry, I need to take this." John apologized, looking at his phone and excusing himself and walking away from the table.
"You see what I mean," Noah said through gritted teeth, after she left, "Imagine having to see and hear that every time you visit your girlfriend."
"God I can hear it now. 'I'm the one who put you two together'. Probably trying to use my modelling career to make her daughter famous." Noah
"Then if you're not scared why don't you tell her that? Say you're not interested." Tom asked, intrigued, "Because I'm not that much of an asshole." Noah responded bluntly, "Hey, watch it," Harry scolded, knowing there was a much younger child sitting next to me and he nodded to him.
You'd think Harry would scold his son for swearing in general but boy did he give up on that a long time ago.
"It's fine, Harry," Dean, Lux's uncle and Ben's father laughed, "He's heard worse."
"But Noah, give her a chance, so what? Like you said you're just nine. It's not it will be long term and you're going to get married next week." Dean said, "Well to Lucy is it!" Noah grunted, "Aw, come on Noah. You never know," I smirked, "I'll think about it." Noah mumbled.
"Now can we please take about something else? God knows she listening or spiked my drink." Noah groaned, "Yes," Tom said and began talking to him about football.
•Harry• I saw John walk towards my chair, "Harry, I need to talk to you," John said quietly into my ear, I nodded "Sure," and followed him to the foyer.
"That was a call from a director, it was for Noah." He said to me, his demeanour serious.
I nodded, listening. "The director wants to meet him, and maybe cast him for a lead role. This is very important for Noah and his career," He explained. "But we both don't want to schedule a meeting unless you, Rose, or both of you give permission for it to happen."
"So Harry, would he be allowed to go to the audition?" He asked, "Well of course," I told him, without hesitation, "If it's something he'll want to do." Who I was kidding, Noah loved acting, and his first lead role in a movie would be amazing.
"Schedule it right now." I told him
"They said we could pick the date, but within now or next month. No later." "Where?" "New York." "Ok, ask if they're available for November 12."
"We'll be there around that time, and then we're leaving the next day. That's a good time to do it." John nodded and began to call the director back, telling him the details as well as listening to the directors.
After saying goodbye, he hung up the phone, "It's settled then. New York City, November 12. I'll talk to Noah later."
We both walked back to the table.
• • •
Dinner was finished, everyone was either talking or on their phones. Noah chose to be on his phone, what a mistake that was.
Lucy walked by the table, "So Noah," Noah jumped in his seat, startled by her sudden presence behind him, "Guess you got that phone fixed?" Noah swore he could just scream and yell at her, he was about to, so close to, until-
"It's actually my phone," Tom looked at her, grabbing the white iPhone 4S from Noah's hand, Lucy huffed and walked away.
"Oh my God, thank you. I was close to strangling her,"
• • •
It was late. Harry and Noah had just got home.
Noah was in room, emptying his pants pockets, and pulled out the stupid piece of paper. throwing it on the bed.
After brushing his teeth, Noah sat on his bed, picking up his phone and the paper. He sighed, looking in-between both objects. Fighting himself if he should just call her or not. Noah sighed going into his contacts and putting her name and number into his phone.
"Maybe one day," he mumbled tossing the note into his nightstand drawer.

I just wanted you to know that I just read all of the Little Pirates series this weekend and I am so, so, so in love with your Jones children. They feel like real honest to god kids with actual personalities rather than carbon copies of their parents. Beth is a riot and I'm trash for her and Killian's relationship. I have a few questions for you though. 1. How did you come up with the characters of Harrison, Wes, Beth and Neddy? They're amazing but they don't feel like Sues. (1/?)
I feel like that’s always a challenge in fanfiction writing with original characters. 2. Are you ever going to write a multi-chapter story for the kids or just continue just writing snippets of their lives as you are now? Because I would honest read the heck out of anything story you write for them. No pressure! 3. How many Little Pirates one-shots do you plan on writing and are you willing to write anything for Captain Swan that isn’t a part of the series? (2/3) Regardless of your answer, I will always read whatever you write. 4. You reblog a lot of Captain Swan stuff, which I appreciate, but are you going to watch Season Seven and do you think Season Seven will affect the Little Pirates series especially if it’s revealed that Killian and Emma have a child in the canon? You’ve kinda been quiet on that. (3/3)
As I have not updated all weekend since I was in my cousin’s wedding, I wasn’t expecting anything in my inbox this morning. I was pleasantly surprised and a bit overwhelmed when I checked into my tumblr this morning while I was having my coffee. I’m a wee bit hungover from yesterday.
I’m glad you like Little Pirates. I personally love writing the Killian-Beth dynamic as well since a lot of it is based upon my relationship with my own father. So, I love writing them. I love writing them all really, hence why I do it in the first place.
I honestly feel like I’m being interviewed with the amount of questions you have, which I’m both flattered and overwhelmed by. I will try to answer them as best as I can. I apologize for the really long-winded answers, which is why I’m putting a “read more” here because it’s just a bloody essay.
1. It’s kinda hard to describe my character development/creation, but I’m generally struck with ideas of personalities while I’m doing something and I work from there. Beth came to me first. I just thought of someone who was super cheeky, super blunt and incredibly impulsive. Wes came to me originally as a rebel without a cause kind of guy who loves music more than people (this is still true) and Harrison was always just this haggard older sibling who feels the need to protect and keep the younger ones out of trouble, which ages him like a few good years. Neddy was late to the game. He was originally this quiet imp, but over time, he’s become much more thoughtful and sweet, but very secretive because he never wants to upset anyone. He’s aware he’s babied and wishes they would just stop.
My key to making them not Sue-ish, I guess, is the fact I don’t view them as anyone I would want to be. I make them fuck up. A lot. They’re people I understand, but I don’t want to be them or really hang out with them. I gave a lot of them my own faults.
Both Beth and Wes are inherently selfish and impulsive people who have absolutely no respect for authority or anyone really. They’ve not really sensitive to the feelings of others at all. They think it’s more important to spit the truth than consider how someone would feel about it. So you have three serious character faults right there. On top of that, neither of them are really in touch or want to talk about their own feelings. They would rather hide behind sarcasm and wit, then have a serious conversation about emotions.
Beth and Wes are also manipulative, though Beth more so than Wes. She’s so in habit of manipulating people that sometimes she doesn’t recognize when she does it, which will be explored later on. She’s manipulative, a skilled liar (something she shares with Ned) and on top of that, she’s very spiteful. She does a lot of things out of spite and anger without thinking about the long term. She has an entire serious relationship when she’s older out of spite due to the man she loves telling her that he doesn’t want to be with her. It’s a very shitty thing on her part. She took someone’s emotions for a ride because she wanted to make someone jealous. It’s not cool, but people do that. She’s human and flawed.
Wes is entire another bag of issues. I’m not sure if it’s been translating well, but he’s like a borderline sociopath at times. Wes is very charismatic, people are drawn to him, but he’s not really drawn to people. He could survive without people rather easily. He would miss certain people, but he could do without. He likes company, but doesn’t crave or need it. He’s very much lone wolf out of the four. He also has zero respect for authority and boundaries and has no issues breaking them for himself or the people he cares about which is a very short li- it’s basically just his siblings, Gideon and Bobbi. I haven’t talked about magic much, but Wes is obsessed with magic and sees his magic as an extension of himself. He would struggle picking between magic and people, which I personally am horrified by. He’s a bit Rumple-like when it comes to magic since he’s something he’s naturally good at. A lot of this stems from his competitive nature and jealousy. If you haven’t noticed, which you might have not because I haven’t necessarily pointed it out but I have tried to write it as a background issue, but there’s a lot of tension between Harrison and Wes. They snip a lot, because Wes is extremely jealous of Harrison and the perceived favoritism towards Harrison. He sees Harrison as the “golden son” and as someone to compete with. Harrison has no talent whatsoever in magic while Wes does, it’s something where he is just better than his brother at.
Harrison and Ned are more on the introverted side. They’ve both more reserved and quiet. Harrison is more quiet out of social anxiety. A lot of that stems from expectations put on him when he was very young, not necessarily by his parents but by the community. His looks, which are very similar to Killian’s, have made really made a lot of people expect him to be like his father. They see him as a min-Killian, he’s just not. Harrison knows he’s not capable of that, which is natural since he’s his own person. He doesn’t feel he has his own autonomy and it really stresses him out. He doesn’t want to be either of his parents, he just wants to be himself but that’s not what people want so he’s just internally a mess. He has a very negative self-image and zero confidence - it doesn’t help that Wes constantly derides him. He also has anxiety because he feels the need to protect his siblings who are more outgoing and wild than he is. Killian subconsciously has conditioned Harrison to constantly feel the need to protect them like Liam protected Killian. So, more often than not, Harrison is put into very uncomfortable situations in order to help out the other three who constantly blunder into horrible situations because they have zero impulse control and are more extroverted than he is. He gets like gray hairs in his twenties from the stress of them. On top of that, Harrison is a bit on the righteous side - very David-like. His moral code is a bit black and white, which kinda leads him disapproving of a lot of the shenanigans that go on around him. There’s a reason, he’s on medication for anxiety. Some of it is family, but a lot of it is self-imposed.
Ned…this child. He’s new and I’m still working on him, but he’s very much babied and constantly shielded by everyone and he’s aware of it. He’s annoyed by it, which has led to him being very sneaky, secretive, cunning and a very gifted liar. He loves his family, but often views them as obstacles to his own fun and experiences so he lies A LOT to keep them for catching on, disapproving or freaking out about what he’s doing. Like he’s really young in the series so far, but when he’s older, like every other thing he says to his family is a lie. Like he’s very into baseball, which causes some strain with Killian because of his disability and Ned just hides the fact he’s playing baseball up until like high school. Just would say he’s over a friends’ house whenever he had a game. He fixes his report cards so his parents don’t stop him from having fun. That sort of nonsense. It just leads to so many issues. On top of that, he really resents the age differences between him and his siblings and basically tries to grow up too fast at times. Like he gets a tattoo at sixteen to match the one that the older three have. He makes so many horrible mistakes in high school in regards to partying, girls, drinking and sports that he’s kinda “been there, done that” by college and really is just the responsible one out of his baseball team and is more focused on baseball, his grades and writing than having fun. Which of course leads to him being kinda estranged from his team who hasn’t gotten to his level yet. He’s like a geek-jock in college with like only three friends.
Long story short: FLAWS. FLAWS ARE FUCKING IMPORTANT. Flaws make the characters, which is why sometimes hard to relate to characters like Superman. Sues are boring. Perfection is dull.
2. Am I ever going to write multiple chapters on the Little Pirates? Maybe, but not likely. I have a ton of story arcs that I could write multi-chapters on but I don’t think I have a big enough audience to really write those. I mean older!Jones children have really colorful lives - Beth ends up a fucking realm jumping pirate in her own right, Harrison has an adventure in Agrabah and overcomes a lot of his anxiety before he replaces Emma as the Sheriff of Storybrooke, Wes has a lot of adventures involving magic with Gideon and Bobbi and Ned finds his own fairytale adventures while in college. I love these stories and I could write them, but they feature very little of the original cast which I don’t think a lot of people are interested in them. However, I am planning a Henry centric Labyrinth crossover fic which does have infant!Harrison (babe with the power) in it, which could count as a part of Little Pirates, but will mainly be stand-alone.
3. I think I’ve said this before, but I have no idea how many one-shots I’m going to write for Little Pirates. I have no end number in mind. Though I do know I have at least ten ideas in the works that are a mix of requests, original ideas and semi-requests. I just made a queue bar so people can see where their requests/prompts are in my lineup. As for non-Little Pirate related material, I’ve thought about it. I’ve really wanted to write a Top AU-Captain Swan/Captain Charming fic where Killian is Maverick, Emma is Charlie, Liam is Goose and David is Iceman. I’ve been doing research for it and I’ve found that like 60% of Top Gun is like actually impossible so I’m trying to make a more realistic plot line and it’s just been nutty research-wise. I’ve also been thinking about doing a Henry centric summer league t-ball story that’s about Henry figuring his life out post-college with a romance plot line with Ava Zimmer, but that could be considered a part of LP because it would feature Wes and Harrison. I’m like incapable of writing anything but domestic Captain Swan it seems. I suck and like my own characters too much. So, needless to say I’m trying, but failing fucking miserably. Too many ideas, not enough time to research and write them.
4. I’m little confused on this last question. I haven’t said anything about OUAT season seven…at all. I haven’t been quiet at all. The reality is that I haven’t said a word. There’s a reason for that. While I plan on watching season seven because I adore Colin O’Donoghue and Hook…I’m just not excited. I love Captain Swan and I really don’t trust A+E to do this season right without Jennifer Morrison. I’m just not really invested in it, but I am curious what they’re going to do. After reading all the D23 stuff over this weekend despite being at my cousin’s wedding, I’m like 60% convinced there is a canon Captain Swan spawn, which could be interesting but I’m not like over the moon about it. I could live with or without it. I’m kinda “meh.”
I’m not sure how or why OUAT season seven would effect Little Pirates in any shape or form. I think I’ve made it clear that it’s a canon divergence post-season six. Everything that happened between seasons one to six is canon, but season seven has absolutely no baring on my universe at all. It would be insane to try and incorporate season seven stuff into my universe which is like 85% fully formed. I intend to view season seven as an alternate reality to mine. Like in comic terms, the season seven is Earth-1 and Little Pirates is like Earth-16. LOL.
Unless you’re asking if I’m going to stop writing Little Pirates because season seven would make it not-canon, which, the answer to that is no way in hell am I going to stop writing just because my universe isn’t canon. Captain Swan is one of the very few OTPs that I have that IS canon. Canon disagreements don’t bother me. I’m happy to live in my own little universe while the canon goes in an entirely different direction. So, I’m not bothered. I assume I will get less readers because of season seven, but whatever. Eh.
Apologies for the novel length response, but you did ask a lot of questions. I hope I answered them to your satisfaction.
