Masterlist | Marvel masterlist | Words: 2.5K Part 1 | Part 2
Your parents split up when you were just two years old, therefore you didn't even remember them together. You've lived with just your mom ever since. At first you spend every summer at your dad's, but ever since he became Iron Man, that stopped. Your dad had claimed to not have enough time on his hands to keep you safe.
It's been about ten years since you've had sleepovers at your dad's in the summer. You had seen him every few months to catch up over dinner, but much more than that you hadn't seen of your dad. It sucks, because he was your dad and you want him in your life, but over the years it started to get more and more clear to you that being an entrepreneur and superhero was more important to him than being a father.
Over those years your mom had been your biggest form of support, she was always there for you and your needs. She was your mom and best friend in one, you could share everything with her. Sure, your dad made sure you and your mom had the money to live a good life, and so that your mom was able to keep her local book store running instead of having to get a better paying job. You were very grateful for that, because your mom absolutely loved that store. On your eighteenth birthday your mom asked you if you wanted to be the co-owner of the store. You had been working there as a side job ever since you started college. You were grateful for her offer, and gladly accepted it.
At college you studied business, something that clearly runs in the family. Everything you’ve learned in class, you got to put to use at the store. Once you were done with college, your mom had taught you about every aspect of the store, unbeknownst to you, making you ready to take over one day. It happened suddenly, one day everything was good, and the next day you were in an ambulance because your mother had collapsed. After hours of testing the doctor let you know that something was wrong with her heart. At first medication was enough to help your mom get through the day, but when those stopped working, she had to have surgery. She stayed at the hospital for a while to monitor everything. You spend as much time as you could by her side, while also keeping the store running. It was mentally and physically draining, but the store was your mom’s pride and joy, and you had every intention to keep it running for her. She got a bit better after the surgery, but gradually over the months she was declining in her health once again.
She ended up in the hospital once again, this time she was on 24-hour watches. When the doctors informed you that there wasn’t anything they could do for her anymore, you started talking about a DNR. Your mom had a long talk with you, stating that she left everything to you in the will. “Sweetheart, I know you have big dreams and I want you to follow them all. Please don’t let keeping the store get in the way of that. I love you, and I want you to live your life for you, okay sweetheart?” That evening you had cried in her arms as she signed the DNR form.
Your mom was in the hospital for another week when the day you had been dreading came. The day you got the call from the doctors saying that your mom wasn’t going to make it to the end of the day. You closed down the store and rushed to the hospital, wanting to spend her last moments together. The rest of the day you spent by her side, holding her hand, and telling her your favorite memories together. You had balled your eyes out as the heart monitor's beeping started slowing down, eventually dying down to a continuous beep. The doctor came in to turn off the machine, and sent his condolences your way, before leaving you to say your last goodbyes.
You didn't know where to go when you left the hospital, walking around aimlessly, until you found yourself at the Avengers Compound. You decided to ring the doorbell, since your subconscious led you here and you really needed to rehydrate. A woman's voice sounded over the intercom, "Avengers Compound, who is it?" You quickly wiped your tears as you saw a camera was pointing at your face, "Ehm, I'm Y/n Stark, I'm here to see my dad."
The voice stayed quiet for a moment, "Very funny, do you have ID to prove that?" You reached into your pocket and held your ID up to the camera. “One moment, I’ll be right with you.” A minute later the door was opened by the woman you knew from the news as Black Widow. “Hi, I’m Natasha. Sorry about that, you don’t want to know how many kids come up here claiming to be one of our kids, in hopes they can enter the building.” With a small voice you replied, “It’s okay. Is he here?” Natasha shook her head, “No, but I’ll let him know you’re here. Come on, I’ll walk you to the common room.” She led you to the couch and offered you a drink.
While Natasha walked to the kitchen to get you a glass of water, all the emotions that came with losing your mom came to the service. You put your feet up on the couch, bringing your legs to your chest. Your head leaning on your knees as tears start streaming down your face once again. Natasha walks back into the common room with the glass of water and notices your state, she takes a seat next to you on the couch. “Hey, what’s wrong? I know we just met, but no one should go through these kinds of emotions alone. May I hug you?” Without saying anything, you lean into Natasha. She was right, you had just met her, but you really needed the comfort. You felt Natasha’s arms wrap around your shoulders and hold you tight. “My mom.” You say with a shaky voice, “I just lost my mom.” You cry out. Natasha moves one of her hands to rub small circles on your back. Natasha knew what loss was and felt for the stranger in her arms. She wanted to bring you comfort, the way she wished she had gotten.
It wasn’t until later in the day, when you had calmed down, met some of the other Avengers, and settled down on the couch watching a movie with them that your dad got home. He didn’t even notice you there, so Natasha spoke up. “Tony, did you get my messages?” She said while moving her eyes between him and you. That’s when his eyes fell on you, “Oh, y/n, hi. What are you doing here?” It felt kind of awkward to be in the same room as your dad and it not being a restaurant. “Mom, she. She passed away earlier today.” You wipe away the tear that fell down your face quickly. “Oh, I’m sorry, y/n.” His phone rang before the conversation could continue, “I have to take this.” He stood up and walked away. Natasha gave you a sympathetic look, “Come on, I’ll get a room ready for you, and you can stay the night.”
You didn't sleep much that night, but who could blame you. Your mom just died, and your dad seemed to not give a shit about it or you. Reluctantly you got out of bed and put on the clothes Natasha laid out for you. Making your way to the kitchen, you were hoping that your dad would be there for you. Once you got to the kitchen though, your dad was getting ready to leave. "Ah good morning, y/n. I've got to pick up the kid, I'll be back later." And once again he was out the door.
Sitting down at the counter you stare blankly ahead of yourself. Wanda and Natasha find you in the kitchen after their morning work out. Wanda is the first to sense that something is wrong and approaches you. "Hey, y/n, how are you holding up?" Wanda had experienced her own loss with her parents and brother, all those feelings came back to the moment she heard that you had lost your mom. "Who's 'the kid' my dad is referring to?" Wanda takes no time in answering your question, only making you believe that your dad calls this person ‘kid’ all the time. "Peter Parker, or as you probably know him, Spider-Man." You divert your eyes once more. Moments later Natasha places a plate of food in front of you, "I'm no chef, but I hope it's good."
You all ate in silence, you were grateful for their comfort. "Hey, is there any way either one of you can bring me to the hospital? I need to figure out some things and sign some papers. I was going to ask my dad, but he's too busy." They both agreed to come with you, and even went into the hospital with you. You reached for Natasha's hand as the doctor spoke to you about the next steps.
After filling out all the necessary forms the doctor sent you on your way, since it had been a couple hours and it was around lunchtime now you asked the women, "Do you want to grab a quick bite? As a thank you for both of your support today." Wanda checks the time before saying, “I’m sorry, I’d love to, but I have to head back. I’ve got a few meetings this afternoon.” You look over to Natasha. "Yeah, let's do it. Only because I'm hungry though, not because you need to do this to thank us, I was happy to go with you." You both hugged Wanda goodby and headed to a nearby restaurant.
During lunch you spend the time getting to know each other better. She told you about her hobbies and what it was like to be an Avenger and you told her about your hobbies and the bookstore. "I have the rest of the day off, if you want to go by the store and make sure everything is settled there, since you left in a hurry yesterday." Natasha offered. "Are you sure? I'd really like that, but only if it's not too much trouble." Of course, it was no trouble at all, Natasha was enjoying getting to know you better.
At the store you spend some time on putting the money in the safe, which in your haste you didn’t even do, and some paperwork. Natasha was walking around the shop while you were finishing up. “It’s a wonderful place, y/n. You and your mom did an incredible job, I’m sure she is so proud of you for wanting to keep the store running.” You thanked her for her kindness before printing out a sign saying you would be closed for the next week.
Walking out of the store you got the sinking feeling that you were going to go home to an empty house. “Do you think I can stay at the Compound for another night?” You ask Natasha shyly. “Yeah, of course, do you want to grab some clothes before heading back?” At your front door you freeze with the keys in your hand, unable to unlock the door. “May I?” Natasha asks softly. You hand her the key and she opens the door for you. She takes your hand and gives it a gentle squeeze, letting you know she’s there with you. After grabbing some clothes you make your way back to the Compound.
When you arrived back at the compound, you heard laughter coming from the common room. You recognized one of the voices to be the one of your dad, so you walked in. “Oh hey, kid, meet my daughter y/n.” Tony introduces you. “Y/n, this is Peter.” It was painful this morning hearing that your dad called another person ‘kid’, a nickname he used to call you, but the sight of this broke you even more. You turned on your heels and walked in the opposite direction. To your surprise your dad called after you, “Y/n, don’t leave.” That snaps something in you. “Don’t leave?” You ask, raising your voice slightly. “Isn’t that exactly like you did? You left me because you didn’t have time to keep me safe, and now I see you’ve just replaced me with another kid that you took under your wing. Why can you take care of him, but not of me?” Tony stood up. “Peter is different, he has powers, he can protect himself.”
“That’s bullshit, Natasha doesn’t have powers and she’s an Avenger, she can protect herself. And what about Clint, Yelena and Kate? Not to mention you yourself. They can all protect themselves. All you had to do was teach me how to protect myself, but instead you left.” You didn’t wait for a response and continued walking toward the room Natasha had let you stay in. “What was that all about?” Tony asks Natasha. “Man, I knew you could be oblivious, but seriously? She just lost her mom, the only person she has had to depend on. Wanda and I went to the hospital with her today to make arrangements, because you were too busy talking with Peter.” She turned to Peter, “No offense, Spider-Boy.” And with that Natasha followed you to the room.
“I’m so sorry about him.” She said as she walked into your room. You shrugged, “It’s fine, I don’t know why I expected more.” Natasha said down on the bed next to you. “Want to watch a movie, to get your mind off of everything?” You lifted the blanket for her to join you. About fifteen minutes into the movie, you lean into Natasha, Without a word, she wraps her arm around your shoulder. Not long after your eyes closed and you slept for the first time in weeks.
Your dad might not be there for you the way you wanted him to be, but you were glad you came here and got to meet Natasha. From the first time on that couch in the common room, you had felt a connection with her, a connection that had only grown stronger over the hours that you had known her. A connection that you knew was only going to continue growing.

Loved the 3 part of monet issue❤️. I thought about this. How about the doctor that experimented on reader became obsessed with us, infiltrated the compound as a new doctor and required that we go to observation, there she starts to do things again. I know it’s a little vague but that was what I could come with. See you and I hope you have a good day and take care of yourself.❤️❤️

New York City was known as the city that never slept. So many people (sometimes too many people, in your opinion) came from so many walks of life. Everyone came to this city to chase a dream. As you walked to a busy sidewalk, you were just another fish swimming upstream and weaving through people on the phone, listening to music, or performing on the street corner. There was always something to look at: massive skyscrapers, fights on the street, or trying to pick somewhere to eat because of the million and one options. So it was odd that you felt eyes on you. It made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. However, when you turned around, no one was there. It had to be your nerves since you’ve only been back in the city for two months. It would take time for you to feel safe since HYDRA altered your life.
The first step to returning your life to normal was meeting with Taylor and a few other friends for lunch. Opening the door to the small hole in the wall, you welcomed the quiet and peaceful environment. It was a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of the sidewalk. You saw Taylor in the corner, and you pointed to the table. The hostess nodded, and you walked over to them. “Look who finally is here to grace us with her presence,” your friend, Brooke, teased. She stood up and did a slight bow. “The princess has returned.” You punched her shoulder at her joke attempt, but it made you smile.
“Leave her alone, Brookie,” Emma said. “She’s been busy being an Avenger or something.”
“More like fucking one!” Brooke and Taylor high-fived across the table.
“Are we done?” You asked. “Because I will leave.” Emma grabbed your hand and forced you into the empty seat next to Taylor. You met Emma and Brooke through Taylor. While you went to college out of state, she went to Columbia. Brooke and Emma were her freshman-year roommates, and they were used to you staying over every weekend.
“We love you, Egghead,” Taylor kissed your cheek.
“And we missed you,” Emma added. You missed them, too. Lunch was spent picking on one another, catching up, and filling your stomach with cheap but good Italian food.
“So, are we going to be invited to the wedding?” Brooke asked, looking at you. You raised your eyebrows. “You and Natasha. Aren’t you guys like engaged?” You chuckled.
“Not even close,” you said. “We only have been dating for a few months officially. I doubt she would even want that,” Taylor scuffed, shaking her head.
“Have you talked about it?” Emma asked before you could question Taylor.
“Well, no,” you admitted. “There has been a lot going on.” Taylor chuckled. “Do you have something to say?” Your best friend pinched your side, and you glared at her.
“Natasha looks at you like you’ve hung the moon and painted the stars in the sky,” you tried to hide your embarrassment by picking at the pasta in front of you. “She would 100% be down to marry you.”
When lunch was over, you paid for the meal at the front. As you waited for your card, you felt that eerie sensation that prickled at the back of your neck. Your gaze darted around the restaurant’s other patrons to find the source of your uneasiness, but you couldn’t figure it out.
“Hey,” you were pulled away by Taylor’s voice. She was holding your card and frowning. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah,” you smiled and took the card from her. “Let’s get out of here.” Was it a trick of your mind, or was someone watching your every step?
*
“Get off of me!” You gasped, trying to push Yelena off of you. Her body became dead weight. “You are so annoying,” you tickled her sides, and she quickly got off you. Her eyes were wide in fear.
“That was dirty,” she sat next to you while Kate and Peter joined you on the couch, hands filled with snacks and drinks. You rolled your eyes and stood up to help them.
“I thought you were supposed to help them,” the blonde shrugged and grabbed a beer from Kate. It was routine for you to find yourself with the trio when you were at the compound. You liked training with Wanda and Vision, eating dinner with Tony and Pepper, and cuddling up with your girlfriend. Since the ‘I love you’ confession, you both grew more confident in the relationship in front of the team. Movie nights were spent in each other’s arms. Natasha would grab you by the waist and kiss you, much to the disdain of Yelena and your father. The business was going well, your relationship with your father was better than ever, and life was good.
“You bitch!” You threw a piece of popcorn at Peter. “I can’t believe you stole my star.”
“I picked random!” He defended.
“Kate has four stars?! You stoke from me, and now I have zero.” You heard laughter from the kitchen and saw Tony. “I’ll be right back. Don’t start the mini-game without me,” you climbed over the back of the couch and walked over to him. He was in a meeting when you arrived at the compound.
“Hi, squirt,” he hugged you. “How are you?”
“I’m good,” you watched him fill a mug with the leftover coffee in the pot. “You should cut back on the caffeine.” He shook his head.
“You should like Pepper.”
“The woman in your life is usually right,” the CEO squeezed your shoulder as she walked past you. Accepting Pepper as your father’s girlfriend turned-wife was hard for you. You saw her as someone that was trying to replace your mom. Another person is stealing Tony’s attention. So you treated her as a business associate but ran in the same circle. It became impossible to ignore her, and soon, you began to look for her at every Gala or event, finding a strange sense of peace from the older woman. “Have you asked her yet?”
“No, I was busy getting yelled at by my questionable habits,” you and Pepper rolled your eyes. “Are you free to have dinner with us?”
“Of course,” you smiled.
“Mini game time,” Yelena yelled from the couch. “Get your ass over here.” You flipped the blonde off, told the couple you could see them later, and joined your friends back on the couch.
*
“You’re pregnant?!” You gasped, putting the glass of wine that Pepper paired with the dinner she made. It was just you, Tony, and Pepper in their section of the compound. “Have you told anyone?” Pepper shook her head.
“We wanted to tell you first,” your father took his wife’s hand.
“And you are okay with this?” You heard the worry in his voice. Why wouldn’t you be okay with this?
“I mean, the idea of you having unprotected sex kind of gives me,” you faked a gag. Tony glared at you, but Pepper covered her mouth as she laughed. “But I’m so happy for you! I can’t wait to be an older sister!” When dinner was finished, you helped Pepper clean the dishes while Tony took a phone call from Rhodey.
“He was worried,” she glanced at him to ensure he was still on the phone. “About how you would reach the news.
“Really?” You questioned, drying a few plates and putting them away. “Why?” She sighed.
“I think he was worried you would feel like he was replacing you,” you frowned. “I know it’s not ideal timing, especially since you still trying to build your relationship with him. But-”
“Pepper,” you placed a hand on her arm, promptly cutting her off. “I’m happy for you both. You are going to make a great mother, and I know from first-hand experience,” the CEO smiled, kissing your temple. Suddenly, you felt arms around your waist, and you were lifted off the ground.
“Are you trying to steal my wife?” Tony asked. You squeaked as he spun you around. “Don’t you already have a girl to call your own? Or are you trying to get all the women in the compound?”
“It’s the Stark charm,” you laughed, a little out of breath from his tickling assault. “It’s hard for a woman to resist it,” he let you go, and it took a moment to gather your bearings.
“Ain’t that the truth?” He whipped a fake tear. “I’m so proud of you,” you saw Pepper pick up the drying towel, twist it, and snap it at Tony’s back. He yelped and jumped around to face Pepper.
“You sabotaged my help,” she handed him the towel. “Dishes are your punishment.”
“Yes, ma’am,” you giggled as Pepper linked your arm with hers.
“Stark charm,” you said, looking over your shoulder. The pout on Tony’s face made you laugh. “Ladies can’t resist it.”
*
“There you are, malyshka (baby girl),” you looked up from your laptop and saw Natasha standing in the doorway. Her arms crossed against her chest, and her long-sleeved shirt came down to her thighs. “Where have you been?”
“Planning,” you said, closed your laptop, and put it on your nightstand. She raised a questioning eyebrow as she walked over. “I’m just trying to move some meetings around and delicate responsibilities.” Your girlfriend climbed onto the bed and swung her legs over to sit on your lap.
“Are you leaving the company?”
“I would never. I want to spend more time with you, my dad, and the team,” what you wanted was to be here at the early stages of her pregnancy. With the father being Iron Man, it was uncertain how often he would be around when the world called for him. You told Pepper you had no problem with being there. The CEO wasn’t ready to tell the team yet, so lying to your former spy girlfriend was challenging. You knew she wasn’t buying your story. “Everything is fine,” you squeezed her thighs. “I promise,” you leaned forward and nudged your nose against hers. “Can I kiss you?” You asked. The Black Widow chuckled.
“You never have to ask,” you kissed her, taking in the taste of Natasha. It was addicting. You felt her smile in the kiss and soon pulled away.
“Movie night. What do you want to watch?” You asked, moving your hands up and down her back.
“Moonraker,” you huffed. “Please, sweetheart,” she gave you her best puppy dog eyes that always seemed to melt you.
“Put it on,” She grabbed the remote and fell to your side. As the movie began to play, Natasha curled up into your side, and you wrapped your arms around her. “I love you,” you mumbled.
“I love you too.”
*
“Ooo,” you looked at Pepper as she rubbed her stomach. She was three months pregnant, and every sound of discomfort sent you and Tony into a fit of anxiety. “Come here,” she held out her hand, and you were quick to your feet. She took your hand and placed it on her stomach. “Just wait,” you waited and soon felt the small kicks.
“Holy shit,” you sat down next to her. “That is so weird.” Pepper chuckled.
“It’s even better when she wakes you up at 2 in the morning,” she sarcastically said.
“Can she hear us?” You looked at her.
“Doctors say once they are about 23 weeks, they’ll be able to make out voices outside the womb, but that hasn’t stopped your father,” she explained.
“Can I?” She nodded. “Hi, little one,” you spoke to Pepper’s stomach. It was a little strange, but a weird emotion bubbling in your chest. “I’m your big sister, and I’m so excited to meet you, spoil you, and fill you with all the sweets in the world,” you glanced up at Pepper as she laughed. Tears were forming in her eyes. “But,” you continued. “I’m going to protect and love you with every fiber of my being.” Pepper kissed your forehead and brought you into her arms.
“You are going to be a great sister.”
“I agree,” you looked at Tony. His facial expression was hard to read. “I need you to be part of this meeting, squirt,” you said. You looked at Pepper, and she had a reassuring smile.
“Okay,” you whispered. Why was there a knot in your stomach?
*
“She escaped,” was the only thing you could comprehend as you sat in the meeting room with the Avengers. There were a few here. Clint retired to Iowa with his family, Bruce and Thor were off-world, and Steve, Sam, and Vision were on a mission. Natasha held onto your hand. “I don’t understand. How did she escape?” Maria explained that the doctor responsible for your newfound ability escaped the prison. Unlike her boss, she wasn’t sent to the RAFT. The jury found her guilty but believed her actions weren’t entirely her doing and that HYDRA brainwashed her. Stockholm Syndrome was what they called it. So, she was sentenced to a medium-security prison.
“She got help from a guard that worked there. His name is Johnathan Anderson,” Maria brought up a picture of him. His black hair was closely chopped, and he had a beard. His blue eyes had a no-nonsense expression. Starring at this picture, you felt that eerie sensation on the back of your neck. Subconsciously, you grabbed the back of your neck. “When his supervisors searched his lockers, they found love letters between him and her.”
“Do we know what she wants?” Wanda asked.
“Me,” you whispered. Their heads snapped to look at you. “I-I was her only success. All the others died, so it makes sense that she would be after me,” Natasha squeezed your hand, and instead of looking at her, you placed your head on her shoulder.
“We won’t let that happen,” Tony firmly said. “We’ve been tracking Anderson’s movements. When he’s not at work, he frequently visits two locations. A home in Connecticut and a warehouse in PA. She has to be there,” you’ve never seen him this determined. “We find her and lock her in the RAFT like she should have been in the first fucking place.”
“Language,” Natasha gasped. Tony glared at your girlfriend, but a smile crept onto his face. She attempted to lighten the mood of the situation, but you knew the redhead better than anyone. She was scared, terrified of the prospect of losing you. You were terrified yourself.
*
“I can stay,” Natasha said for the 10th time. You were in the kitchen, busying your hands and making you and Pepper a small snack. “I’ll stay if you want me to,” you wanted her to stay and feel safe in her arms while the rest of the team went off to fight the bad guy. A clash of thunder caused you to look out the window. Even the weather seemed to know you were in a mood.
“You can’t,” you dropped the knife and cupped her cheeks with your hands. “The team is far too thin to search 2 locations, and Tony is making last-minute adjustments to FRIDAY to keep me and Pepper safe.” She turned to kiss each of your palms.
“I hate this,” she admitted.
“So do I, but you will stop both of them, and I’ll be safe again,” Natasha moved her arms around your waist and pulled you flush to her. You could feel her heartbeat, the organ rattling in her rib cage. Her warm breath caused goosebumps to cover your skin as she burrowed her face deeper into your neck.
“I love,” she mumbled. It was barely audible to your ears.
“I love you too,” you kissed her head. “Go get ready, baby,” you squeezed her. “I’ll make you a peanut butter sandwich,” she huffed, removed herself from your arms, and sighed when she was out of sight. Thunder shook the compound, and you wondered what Thor was up to that was causing this storm. You loved rain storms, listening to the rain hitting the roof and the lightning that brightened up the sky. Now, it filled you with dread, an omen for darker times ahead.
*
As soon as the team left, Pepper asked if you wanted to help her paint the nursery. You agreed right away, hoping to find a helpful distraction. Soft music was filling the comfortable silence. They chose a light lilac for the walls; well, you figured Pepper picked it, and Tony swiped his card. There were boxes of furniture that still needed to be put together and clothes that were ready to be folded. Oh, you could not wait to spoil her. “How are you?” Pepper asked. She was taking a short break, resting in the rocking chair that Clint made. Sighing, you placed the paintbrush on the tray and looked at the half-finished room.
“I’m okay,” you said. “I feel like I finally have my footing, you know?” You looked at the CEO. “I just don’t want to lose the momentum I have.”
“You won’t,” she stood up and made your way over to you. She is quick to pull you into a hug. You slumped against her, desperately missing your mother’s hugs. “You are so courageous and strong. Your father and Natasha won’t rest until you are safe.” You knew that, so you nodded against the CEO.
“Miss. Stark,” FRIDAY said. “I do apologize, but your presence is being requested in med bay. It is time for your monthly check-in.” You groaned, stomped slightly, and pulled away from the CEO. It was Tony’s doing. He wanted to make sure the powers given to you weren’t causing you any problems. Pepper chuckled.
“Do you want me to come with you?” You shook your head.
“It won’t be long. I’ll be back, and we can finish painting, maybe tackle some of these boxes.” Pepper smiled, kissing your forehead. It was rare that you used your powers outside of training. Sometimes, you could use it to warm your body temperature and cuddle up to your cold girlfriend. Or you could create a small fire for Yelena to cook smores. Fighting wasn’t your thing. When you were younger, you hated the Avengers. It was another thing that took Tony away from you. When your mind was busy, you forgot about the power you could wield, forgot what happened to you. Sighing, you stretched your arms and opened the door to one of the medical rooms.
“Doctor Cho-” your voice trailed off as you stared at the woman in front of you who was not Helen Cho. “Who are you?”
“Doctor Cho is busy with other matters,” that voice. A chill went down your spine. The doctor spun around to face you, tablet in hand. “I will be conducting your exam today.” Charlotte Williams is the woman responsible for your newfound ability. You turned to leave, but the doors slammed shut and locked. No amount of pulling on the handle made the door move.
“How did you get in here?” You asked, facing her.
“You silly girl,” she laughed. “I gave you the ability to manipulate fire. do you not think I can hack your daddy’s AI?” You could fight and defend yourself and Pepper. With a flick of your wrist, fire engulfed your hands. “Not so fast,” she clicked a few buttons on the tablet, and the fire went out. You fell to your knees; a pained groan barely left your lips.
“What did you do to me?” Her footsteps echoed in the quiet exam room, closing the distance. She stood in front of you.
“I like to call it a fail-safe. With powers like yours, they can be unpredictable; I had to ensure you are under my control,” she ran her hand over your hair. “But it’s smart to have collateral,” she turned the tablet to show you security footage of Pepper. Johnathan Anderson had a gun pointed at her. Your eyes flickered to her, then the screen.
“What do you want?” You whispered.
“My beautiful creation,” she softly spoke. “I have missed you so much.”
*
Charlotte had you chained down to the table, an IV in your arm, and a nasal cannula for oxygen. She moved the security footage of Pepper to a bigger screen, a reminder that she was in charge. “Can I ask what you are doing to me?” You questioned. She ignored you and focused on your vitals. You sighed and looked up at the ceiling. There had to be a way out of this, but she had you under her control with whatever she typed on her tablet. Your attempt to escape had to be a surprise, so you had to wait. Wait and have some patience. Charlotte placed a warm towel on your veins. Once satisfied, she removed the towel and gently messaged the area to draw out your veins. Doctors always had difficulty finding an excellent place to draw blood. She tied a tourniquet around your arm and cleaned the spot. There was no pain when she pricked you with the needle, and the syringe filled with your blood.
“Have you experienced any fatigue? Headaches? Fevers? Insomnia?” She asked, taking your blood over to a microscope. The fact she had your blood didn’t sit right with you. You tugged on the chains.
“No,” you answered her.
“Have you felt any pain when using your powers?” Her back was still facing you.
“No,” you spoke.
“Any extreme mood swings?” She faces you, hands behind her back. “Anger? Jealously? Depression?” You shook your head now that she was facing you. She brought over a chair and sat down. “Do you know why you were chosen for this?” She questioned.
“Because I’m a Stark,” you whispered. It was the only reason that made sense. You were a Stark, a connection to Iron Man and the rest of the Avengers. Charlotte scuffed, shaking her head.
“You are more than a ridiculous last name. You and I both know that” she trailed her fingertip up and down your veins—goosebumps formed under her touch. “So sensitive,” she giggled. “I wanted you because you are resilient. You overcame so much to get where you are. I am in awe of that raw strength,” you weren’t sure if you could take what she said as a compliment. You’ve heard those exact words from close friends and Natasha, who understood the truth behind your relationship with your father. It didn’t sound enjoyable coming from her. “My beautiful work of art,” your stomach dropped. Bile filled your throat at the name. “We are going to do amazing things for the world.
*
You were tired, even though you were laying in bed and watching her take more of your blood, took a hair sample, and swapped your mouth for your saliva. Whenever she took something from you, she turned her back and worked on whatever she tried to figure out. It wasn’t proving easy. There were subtle changes to her behavior. Shoulders were tense. There was mumbling under her breath. Her eyebrows were pinched together. She was growing frustrated.
Charlotte had a stethoscope around her neck. The cold metal made you jump. “What are you trying to figure out?” She ignored you. “You are running out of time,” she grabbed a needle and filled it with a liquid from a small bottle. You caught the name: Gadolinium. It was a chemical dye used in MRI scans to help improve and enhance the quality of the image. Why would she need that? Unless… You laughed.
“What’s so funny, Stark?” She asked, injecting the dye into your veins.
“You don’t know, do you?” You asked. “You may have selected me, wanted me for my raw strength, but you don’t know how I survived. If I were to guess you expected me to die in that chair,” her silence was all the answer you needed. “I bet your little trick earlier was nothing more than a placebo. You know nothing about what you created,” you focused your power on increasing your body temperature. The metal chains that once held you down melted on your skin. There was pain, but the adrenaline that was moving through your veins overpowered it. Charlotte grabbed a scalpel as you jumped out of the bed, ripping the IV out of your arm. You reached for the tablet she had, and she swiped at your hand, but you were fasted. Grabbing the tablet, you threw it to the ground. The last thing you wanted was for her to contact Anderson.
“I understand you completely,” she slashed again, but you jumped back. “You want approval,” she attacked again. “You want acceptance.” Again, you dogged her. “You want love, and I can give you all of that.” You understood how she was able to convince Anderson to help her. Her words were sickly sweet, and she knew what insecurities to target. There was a part of your brain that wanted to give in. To believe her. Your eyes glanced at the security footage. There were others you had to think about, such as Pepper, your unborn little sister, and your friends back in the city. You had Yelena, Kate, and Peter. Most importantly, you had Natasha and Tony. They gave you love. They accepted you. You would never need her.
Charlotte lunged for you again, and you grabbed her arm to disarm her. However, being without a weapon didn’t deter her. She threw her body at you, and you tumbled to the floor, both fighting for control over the small metal knife. In the end, you were strong. It was a gut instinct as you drove the blade into her stomach and twisted. You were above her and watched her eyes fill with panic and her mouth pool with blood.
“I’m sorry,” you whispered. “But I can’t allow you to hurt me and my family anymore. You understand that, right?” She nodded and shakily put her hand on your cheek. You allowed her to have her moment. “I hope you find love and acceptance in the next life.” Her hand fell from your cheek, and you watched her breathing stop. Biting back your tears, you closed her eyes. On shaky legs, you left the room. You couldn’t take your eyes off her body until the doors closed.
The hallway was spinning. Your chest was heaving. You pressed your palms to your eyes. “Stop, stop,” you mumbled on the verge of a panic attack. “Breath. Just fucking breath.” You heard a muffled scream from the hall closet, and it pulled you out of the panic attack. “Helen!” You called out and ran towards the noise. Another muffled yell and you open the closet. Helen was gagged and bonded with rope. “Helen,” you removed the towel from her mouth, and she took a gasp for air. “Are you okay?”
“I should be asking you that,” she said, and you began to undo the rope around her wrists and ankles. “Where is she?”
“She is,” you trailed off. “She’s been dealt with.” You killed her. Her blood stained your hands. “Look, Pepper is still in danger, and I need to get to her. Can you call my dad? And don’t use anything that has been connected to FRIDAY.” You weren’t sure how far her reach was. Once Helen was standing on her own two feet, and she reassured you that she was fine, you took off with one of the ropes in your hand. Pepper was on her and Tony’s section of the compound. If the feed was accurate, Anderson had her on the couch. There was a door behind him that you could use, and it was hidden by furniture and a wall if you were fast enough.
*
Quietly, you closed the door behind you and were covered by a bookshelf. You heard footsteps, pacing back and forth. “I don’t get it,” Pepper spoke. “Why are you helping her? You must know what she put my daughter through.” Your heart skipped at the term Pepper called you. You saw her as a mother figure these past few months, but hearing her call you her daughter made your stomach flip.
“She’s not your kid.”
“She might as well be. I didn’t give birth to her, but I love her as my own,” you let out a shaky breath and heard Anderson’s footsteps stop.
“Then you must understand why I’m helping her,” you moved closer, now covered by a small wall. You peeked your head out, and Pepper’s eyes darted to you. Her expression never changed. “I love her,” he kept talking, unaware of what was happening behind him. “And she loves me.”
“Are you sure?” Pepper questioned. “I sense some hesitation.” You let out a shaky breath and wrapped the rope around your hands to create a taut line. You could do this; using your powers was too risky with how close Pepper was.
“She loves me. She’s just busy. Once her experiment is done, she will be mine,” he was obsessed with her, and you weren’t sure if she felt the same.
“I get it,” Pepper whispered. “We do crazy things for the ones we love,” you slowly stood up. “Even putting our own lives at risk.” It was your cue, and you moved quickly to wrap the rope around Anderson’s neck. He struggled against you, but you kicked in his knees. His legs went dead, and he fell. You pulled tighter.
“Sweetheart,” it was a mistake to look at Pepper as Anderson took the pause and flipped you onto your back. The air was knocked out of your lungs. Pepper stood up, picked up the gun he dropped, and helped you up. The guard was coughing and rubbing his neck.
“Get somewhere safe,” you told her. “Tony should be on his way.”
“I’m not leaving you,” he was slowly standing up.
“Go! Now!” You punch him, making contact with his nose. A horrible crack filled the silence, and pain radiated through your fingers, but you refused to let up. You were tired of these people having control over your life. You were supposed to be safe here, and they went and ruined it. Why was this happening to you? Why? Why? WHY? You weren’t sure when you straddled Anderson; each punch you threw was more brutal than the next. His bloody face began to blur with tears that formed in your eyes. You were exhausted and drained, and the adrenaline was running its way out of your system, but a burning rage kept you going until solid arms wrapped around you. “No, no, no,” you struggled against the hold. Were there more? Did Charlotte have other people under her control? How did you miss that? You needed to find Pepper and fast. But they wouldn’t let go of you.
“Hey, malyshka (baby girl), it’s me,” Natasha held onto your face and forced you to look at her.
“Natty,” you whispered; your eyes must have given away your frantic state because her green eyes filled with concern.
“Yeah, it’s me. You’re safe. You’re so safe,” she repeated. You numbly nodded, burrowing your head in her neck. Your whole body shook as you looked over her shoulder and saw Tony checking on Pepper. His eyes locked on yours, and you had to close your own. There was a quilt filling his own. It was too much too much.
*
“You wanted to see me,” you stood in Tony’s lap. After you were treated with your wounds and a long shower, Wanda told you that Tony wanted to see you. You didn’t trust FRIDAY’s announcement. So you scrubbed and scrubbed your skin raw until you were happy with how clean you were. Until you no longer saw the blood on your hands. Tony looked up from his computer; there were bags underneath his eyes.
“Hey,” he smiled. “I wanted to see how you are doing,” you shrugged and walked over to him, arms crossed against your chest.
“Can I stay in here with you for a little bit?”
“Of course,” he went to put his hand on your shoulder but hesitated. When you nodded that it was okay, he hugged you. You felt him release a shaky breath, which told you how much you needed a hug from him. Your hands gripped him tighter, and the faint scent of coffee filled your nose. It made you feel safe. Finally, you ended the hug, whipped a tear that fell from your eye, and crawled into the bean bag he held in his lap. He watched you settle and turned his attention back to what he was working on. A hologram appeared before him, and he began moving different components. They were moving so fast you couldn’t make heads or tails of what he was trying to do. Soon, the items flashed red. He grabbed his coffee mug and threw it against the wall. It shattered on impact, leftover liquid staining the wall. You let out a squeak, surprised by his sudden outburst. “Shit, fuck, I’m sorry,” he began to pick up the porcelain pieces, but you saw his hands shake. Quickly, you stood up from the bean bag and grabbed some paper towels before walking over to him. You heard each hitch in his breath.
“Tony, it’s okay,” you spoke softly. “Let me take care of it.” He rapidly shook his head; breathing became shallow and erratic as he struggled to fill his lungs with air. “Dad,” he looked at you. “I’m going to hug you now, okay?” A simple nod was all you got as you sat up on your knees and brought him into a hug. His head slumped against your chest, and his body was tense with panic.
“I’m sorry,” he gasped.
“Sh,” you told him. “Just follow my breathing. Nice and slow.” You saw his hands release the shards of the cup. Red patches of blood appeared on his palm. The cuts weren’t life-threatening, so you could attend to them later. Soon, his body relaxed against yours, and his breathing was under control. “Good. Let’s move to the couch, maybe a little more comfortable.” He had no fight as he allowed you to stand and move him to the couch. He refused to look at you, not even when you cleaned up the mug or brought a first aid kit. You knelt in front of him, carefully cleaning the minor cuts. You were familiar with panic attacks, having many yourself, and helping your friends through them. “Are you with me?”
“Yeah,” he whispered, licking his lips. “Yeah, I’m here.” You sat beside him on the couch, knocking your leg against his.
“Do you want to talk about what caused the panic attack?” He sighed, opening and closing his hands.
“I was trying to figure out how she did it,” he gestured to the still flashing red items. “She beat me. She was better, and I can’t let that happen and risk you and Pepper’s life. But I can’t fucking figure it out,” he slumped back. “How can I protect her when I keep failing to protect you?” You stayed quiet, tapping your fingers against your thighs. You stared at the blinking hologram. “I am Iron Man,” he mumbled.
“Yes, you are,” you spoke. “You are Iron Man, a part of the Avengers, playboy, genius, billionaire, and philanthropist,” he chuckled. “But you are human, and we sometimes get it wrong. We make mistakes and can’t find the answers to everything. That’s life,” you said. You looked back at him, and he was already looking at you. “The human existence is so uncertain, but that is one thing I know. You will love and protect that little girl and aren’t doing it alone.”
“Morgan,” he said. You whispered it back to him. “It’s the name we decided. Pepper wanted to wait, but I wanted to tell you.”
“I like it,” he held out your hand, and Tony took it. “What happened to me and Pepper was not your fault. Sometimes things happen a little out of our control,” he pulled you into a hug, kissing your temple.
“I’ll never get over how lucky I am to call you my daughter,” you leaned into the hug more and felt your body warm up at the praise.
“I’m pretty lucky I get to call you my dad,” you said. “Do you want some help on that?” You gestured to the hologram. “Two eyes are better than one.”
“Yeah, I’ll take you up on that.”
*
You found Natasha in the training room past midnight, and she wasn’t slowing down anytime soon. Only wearing a sports bra and leggings, she punched and kicked at the sandbag in front of her. Her body was glistening with sweat. Any other time, you would spend the time ogling your very sexy girlfriend, but she was hurting. It was different from seeing Tony’s panic attack or how Pepper hugged you tighter. She was more subtle, but you knew Natasha well. “Hi baby,” you made your presence known, but she kept punching harder and harder. “Do you want to shower and go to bed?” Still no response. You sighed and walked over to her, keeping your footsteps slow but loud. You felt her gaze on you, analyzing your next move. Instead of stopping her, you stretched, crumbled up her shirt, and she took off and lay on the ground. The shirt wasn’t a great pillow.
“Go to bed,” she said.
“Not without you, and you are going to be here for a while, so I’m going to be right here,” you closed your eyes. The rhythmic sound of her punching almost rocked you to sleep, but the sudden quiet pulled you awake. Opening your eyes, Natasha was sitting in front of you. “It’s rude to stare, you know,” she smirked.
“I just like looking at my beautiful girlfriend.”
“Creep,” she laughed, and you knew it was the most beautiful sound in the world. “Are you alright, my love?” She scuffed.
“I feel like I should be asking you,” you said, sitting up and intertwining your legs with hers.
“It’s okay to not be okay with all this. I mean, someone broke into our home,” she looked down, and you forced her chin up to look at you. “Talk to me, beautiful.”
“Do you like living here?” You were stunned by her question. “Your home is here and the city, but do you like both places.”
“Where are you going with this, Natasha?” You asked.
“Sometimes I just want to walk away from this. I want to live where no one can find me and take you with me because I can’t stay somewhere you could be in danger.”
“What about the team? Yelena?”
“Fuck them,” you glared at her knowing she didn’t mean that. “I’ll miss them and this life, but they could come and visit. You are more important than any mission I fight,” she moved closer to you, carefully laying you down on your back. Her body covered yours. “Would you go with me? You could still work, and we would wait till Pepper gave birth. I’d leave this to start a family and keep you safe.” You ran your fingers through her red hair.
“This sounds like a marriage proposal without a ring,” you teased.
“Who said I don’t have a ring?” she kissed your cheek and lingered above your lips. “So what do you say?”
“Show me the ring, and I’ll say yes,” you forced her down, lips colliding into a messy kiss. She tasted mint and a hint of strawberry from her electrolyte drink, and both covered her natural taste. But you couldn’t care less. You kissed her as if your life were dependent on it because, at that moment, it was.
*
“Auntie Nat!” Your five-year-old sister’s side, rushing out of the car and sprinting up the stairs of your log cabin home. Morgan pushed past you and jumped into the arms of your wife. The ex-Avenger dramatically kissed the girl’s cheek, which caused her laughter to fill the quiet space.
“What am I, chopped liver?” You asked.
“She wouldn’t stop talking about spending time at Auntie Nat’s house and playing with Liho,” Tony laughed. You met him halfway to grab Morgan’s bags.
“Unbelievable,” you mumbled, hugging your father and Pepper. “Betrayed by my sister.”
“Thank you for watching her. We appreciate it.” They were leaving on a week-long, no-kid vacation to Europe. You loved watching Morgan, and it seemed only fair since they gifted you this property up in Maine as a wedding gift. Natasha stepped away from Avenging, and you delegated more responsibilities to your company. It was strange at first not having a meeting to attend or waiting by the phone when Natasha was away on a mission. You could relax. You found your sister in the living room, with her toys scattered on the ground, and captured Natasha’s attention in whatever game of make-believe she created.
“I see what you’ll be doing for a week.”
“Can I come to Italy with you and leave them to their devices?”
“Maybe next time,” Pepper laughed, squeezing your shoulder as she walked over to where Morgan was sitting. You placed her bags on the foot of the stairs.
“This looks good,” you hummed in question. “This life away from Avenging and the spotlight. It looks good on both of you,” you smiled as you watched Morgan rope her mother into whatever story she was spinning. “I was hesitant when you said you wanted to move,” you knew he was. “But I’m glad you did it, squirt.”
“Thanks, Dad.” Suddenly, you felt a little body run into your legs.
“Mommy said you were upset because I didn’t say hi,” you picked her up with a slight grunt.
“Hi, Princess Morgan,” you kissed her cheek.
“Hi, sissy,” she wrapped her arms around your neck. “You’re my favorite sister.” You looked at Tony; his mouth hung open slightly.
“Do you have more of us running around I don’t know about?” He shrugged. “Alright, say goodbye to your dad,” you weren’t sure how well she would take being away from her parents for so long. So you and Natasha planned a week filled with fun. Tony took his daughter from you and squeezed her tight.
“Gonna miss you, princess.”
“Miss you too, Daddy,” she whispered. “Are you going to bring me something back?” You chuckled and shook your head. She was a firecracker, always keeping you on your toes. Once more goodbyes were said, and you watched their car drive away, you looked at Morgan.
“Ice cream time?”
“Ice cream time,” she repeated and returned to the cabin. Before you could follow her, Natasha’s arms wrapped around your waist and pulled you close. Her hands rested on your stomach; they seemed to find their way there a lot.
“I love watching you with her,” she kissed your neck. “Makes me excited to meet our little one,” you giggled and turned to face her.
“Are you excited to tell Tony and Pepper when they return?”
“Hopefully, he doesn’t threaten me like when I asked for his blessing.”
“Auntie Nat! Sissy! You said ice cream time!” Morgan’s voice called out.
“Duty calls,” you stole a quick kiss from Natasha and ran into the house, where Morgan waited patiently in the kitchen.
You were married, expecting your first child, and your home was filled with laughter, happiness, and warmth because your life didn’t end when you were trapped in that chair. The doctor was right you were reborn into something beautiful but it wasn’t what she had in mind.

Chapter 6 - Dark Phoenix II - Emergence of conflagration
Tumblr media
Part 3:
*Third person’s view*
The room was quiet. The only source of light was which came from the kitchen, barely giving any visibility in Y/n’s bedroom. Light from the skyscrapers around the flat was barely enough to light up the room, so the two were laying in the darkness mostly.
Natasha supported herself with her elbow and her other hand was resting on Y/n’s stomach who was laying next to the Russian on her back. Both were covered with silk black sheets, bare shoulders poking out.
Y/n seemed to be deep in thought, which made Natasha watch her moves closely. The younger girl’s eyes moved around the room, sometimes sticking to one place and then looking elsewhere. She took deep breaths, making Natasha’s hand on her stomach lift as she took each breath. Once Stark realized how quiet the room got and how Natasha didn’t seem to move, she looked at the redhead.
“You should move in with us,” said Y/n all of a sudden, taking Natasha by surprise. Her eyebrows shot to her hairline, so she wouldn’t even be able to lie about how surprised she was. “Really? You’d want that?” Nat asks softly, a smile already curling up her lips. Y/n nodded with a sweet smile, her hands coming up to frame Natasha’s face. “I love you. I want you to be with us every day and night. Katarina adores you out of this world and you make us happy. I know I said I want to take it slow but honestly I don’t care. I want you with us,” she confessed, while caressing Natasha’s skin. “I don’t think I’ll ever stop falling in love with you,” Nat was in a full daze from her feelings. The love she felt for this woman was something she could never comprehend.
Y/n felt the same way. Her heart was so light from how easy it was to love Natasha. She couldn’t imagine her life without the Russian anymore and she didn’t want to either. “Kiss me,” whispered Stark, and with a kiss Natasha leaned down and captured her girl’s lips, kissing her like it was the first time. Natasha finally felt like she was safe with this girl and she understood what love is. Y/n was love for her.
Natasha slowly pulled the covers off of themselves and her hand quickly found Y/n’s soft skin. Stark wrapped her fingers into Natasha’s fiery hair, pulling her slightly back as she scattered kisses and bites onto her neck. The low moans the Russian let out made Y/n smile to herself. She made Natasha lay on her back so she could climb over her, while still leaving kisses all over her girlfriend’s neck.
She quickly fastened her lips onto Natasha’s nipple, causing her to gasp. She swirled her tongue around it, then lifted her left hand to take the other one into her fingers. “I love every inch of you,” said Y/n against the Russian’s skin. “I can feel that,” Natasha husked out, her breaths getting shorter and quicker.
Y/n’s touches were slow and tender. She wanted Natasha to feel every ounce of love she had for her. Stark kissed all over Nat’s body, biting and licking, leaving marks all over Natasha’s stomach and hips. “You always do this… it’s your obsession,” Natasha chuckled sweetly, finding it cute how Y/n worshiped her body every time she saw it without clothes.
As Y/n got lower and lower with her kisses she gently placed herself between Natasha’s legs, wrapping her arms under Nat’s thighs and kissing the inside of them. Natasha lifted her hand to her girlfriend’s head, her fingers getting tangled in her dark hair while her other hand barely held onto Y/n’s fingers on Nat’s left thigh. “You’re taking your sweet time there, baby,” Natasha spoke as Y/n didn’t think to rush things but since Nat seemed so impatient she looked up in her eyes before bringing her right hand over.
Natasha threw her head back as she felt Y/n slowly move her tongue inside of her. “Gosh…” The Russian’s right hand quickly released Y/ns hand and grabbed onto the sheets, fisting the material between her fingers. Stark’s tongue slowly hit her g-spot, making her whole body spasm.
The wetness from Natasha was all over her girlfriend’s face, her thighs, and the sheets. Nat’s body knew this pleasure oh so well, making her leave her mouth wide open as her eyes rolled back. Y/n then moved her thumb to Natasha’s clit, rubbing it in small circles making her feel overstimulated. “Let me hear you, baby,” Y/n spoke from below, slowly easing two fingers into Natasha, making the redhead arch her back in pleasure and let out a raspy moan. Y/n went back into sucking, teasing her clit at the same fast pace her fingers were going inside of her. The exchange of pleas and curses repeatedly were the only words you could hear from Natasha. And she couldn’t think, but she knew she loved the way Y/n was touching her. “I’m so close,” Natasha barely spit it out, pushing Stark’s face closer to her sex, trying to reach her high.
Y/n loved watching Natasha throw herself around the bed, her back arched as she felt a knot forming in her abdomen. “Come for me, baby,” Y/n spoke, but she didn’t stop her actions and just kept going. Y/n’s tone has Nat’s hips bucking into her wildly Stark’s name spilling from her lips, she watches her come undone with a satisfied smile, slowly easing her into a calmer state with gentle kisses.
Stark kissed up her way to Natasha’s face, leaving a soft kiss on her red cheek. She looked into her deep green eyes with a sweet smile. “My sweetest girl, I love you,” Y/n whispered softly, Natasha feeling her cheeks keeping up the redness from her words. “I love it when you act all innocent after you do stuff like this,” Natasha caressed her face with a smirk, still trying to catch her breath. “Just for you.”
*Y/n’a POV*
With one last kiss on Nat’s lips, I laid next to her, pulling the sheets over us. Natasha wrapped her arm around my shoulder and brought me closer. Her hand slipped down to my waist, keeping me close. I laid my head on her chest and let out a satisfied sigh. “I’m happy. I’m glad we worked things out,” I admitted honestly, drawing circles on Nat’s covered stomach with my finger. “Me too, baby. You make me the happiest.” Natasha’s words made me smile and with the thought of us working out, I soon fell asleep.
***
“Heeeey, honey. I’m sorry I couldn’t pick you up yesterday but I got some work to do this week so you’ll have to stay with Grandma and Grandpa,” I spoke over the phone with Katarina, trying to feel less guilty about leaving her for a week. “It’s okay, Mama. Grandpa and I built a tower in the backyard, you have to see it when you finish work. You can bring Natty,” I looked over at Natasha who was currently hunched over my desk at home, looking for any possible attacks from Hadria. “I will bring Natty with me. Did you have breakfast, honey?” I asked while walking over to Natasha, looking above her shoulder, checking the papers and pictures. “Yes, Grandma made eggs and bacon.” “Was it good?” I asked while my free hand came up to Natasha’s back, gently massaging her muscles. “I like yours better, but don’t tell Grandma,” said Katarina and I chuckled. “I won’t. Did you have any homework baby? Should I get anything for school?” I questioned, just simply worried that I’d miss anything. “I did my homework with Grandpa. He showed me a science thing, it was really cool,” she explained excitedly and I had to smile at how amazing she was. “Really? Did he blow something up?” I asked, already knew he definitely did. “Yes, it was so big!” I shook my head, but I didn’t want to ruin her moment so just went with it. “That’s amazing.” Looked down at my watch and saw that it was almost time for school for Katarina, so I had to cut the conversation short. “Honey, Grandpa should be taking you to school soon. I will call when I can okay, baba?” “Okay, be careful Mama,” she said and my heart melts every time she says this. “You too, honey. I love you.” “I love you more. Tell Natty I love her too,” she said loudly, which made Natasha look up from the files with a smile. “I will tell her.” “Okay, bye!” She said excitedly before hanging up the phone. “She’s so cute,” said Natasha with the sweetest smile. “She really is. I feel so bad that I have to leave her with Dad again,” I looked down at the papers with a sigh, hoping Katarina really didn’t mind being with my dad and that it wouldn’t have a bad impact on her life. “Y/n she is just fine. Your dad probably showers her with love and affection and shows her so many interesting things, she doesn’t even have time to miss you. It’s sad, but true,” Natasha said with a cheeky smile and I chuckled. “That’s great. I lost my daughter to my dad.” “Oh yeah, there’s no chance. You’re the best mom ever,” a soft kiss on my cheek and I was blushing. “I doubt that,” I chuckled and picked up a paper, trying to find the reason why this woman attacked all these cities. “Baby…” Natasha’s hand slipped around my waist pulling close to herself. She left a kiss on the side of my head before she spoke. “You do all of this stuff to make a better world for your little one, I don’t think you could be better than that,” she said and I leaned my head against her chest. “I just don’t want to miss out on her life by trying to make the world safe for her.” “You won’t, trust me.”
After hours of research and data collecting we finally found something. Hadria attacked Bucharest, Prague, Athens, and Rome. All of these places had Hydra research bunkers during World War 2, making it possible to have some super soldier serum hidden somewhere in those bunkers. “So we just have to find out where the old Hydra bunkers are and hope we get her at some point? There is basically a bunker in every big city in Europe, how are we gonna find her?” I leaned back in my seat, throwing the files on the table. “Maybe we could send her some signals to one particular base and she would go there as if there was something,” Natasha suggested and I thought about it. “You think that would work? What if we get James involved for real?” I came up with the idea again. “Do you think he would fight? Especially in a case like this?” She asked, leaning against the table, crossing her arms in front of her. “I don’t know. But he could help to fight them off for sure. He knows how they work,” I said and Nat seemed a little hesitant about the idea. “I guess it’s worth a try,” she shrugged and she seemed very odd. “Yeah?” I asked, waiting for her response. “It’s just you guys haven’t seen each other in a long time… Things were different then,” she said awkwardly and I think she even clenched her jaw, looking very tense. “And things are different now,” I said and she didn’t say another word, just turned to the laptop. “You don’t have anything to worry about,” I brushed my hand along her arm. “Okay.”
In just hours we were on a Quinjet to Romania. Just the two of us, keeping Steve in the dark, hoping he won’t find out where we’re going. Natasha didn’t lose her tense behavior and I still didn’t understand why she was like that. James and I are clearly done with each other and I just asked her to move in with us.
We landed a little further from the town James was staying at and took a car to his location. “Do you think he’ll help us?” I asked Natasha, who was driving. “He would help you if you’d need it. I’m not sure he will come with us though,” she said and I nodded. “Yeah, I doubt that too.”
The ride to his apartment went by quickly and the closer we got the more nervous I became. I haven’t seen him in a long time and I just hope he’s in a good state.
We parked outside an older apartment building and I glanced down at my phone. “He’s supposed to be at level 8.” “Let’s go then,” Natasha walked ahead and I followed close behind. We both had a gun at us, but well hidden trying to look friendly even though we came in peace.
Once we reached his door, I stepped up and with a sigh knocked on the wooden door. There was no answer for a while and I knocked again. Nothing. I reached into my pocket and got the burner James put aside the letter he sent me a little while ago. “What are you doing?” Asked Natasha with a low voice. “I’m going to call him,” I dialed the only number in the phone then we heard the ringing from inside the apartment, and a couple of seconds later he picked up. “Yes?” He spoke. “I need to talk to you. Natasha and I are outside your apartment,” I said and heard him take a deep breath then hung up the phone. In moments the door opened and there was James. Cal on his head, long sleeve shirt covering his arms and he had leather gloves on, covering his hands. “Can we come in?” I asked and he stepped aside letting us into his apartment.
It was a very sad-looking flat. He only had a mattress on the floor, no proper bed. His kitchen was probably the most well equipped and I didn’t even see the bathroom yet. Windows covered with newspaper, barely letting any light in.
“What are you doing here? I told you my location for emergencies,” spoke James, clearly not happy that we were there. “I know, that’s why we’re here. You live here?” I asked, looking around once again, very sad that this is where he spends his days. “What, you expected a mansion with floor-to-ceiling windows and gold cutlery?” He asked sarcastically. “No, but at least a comfortable bed or something…” “What’s the emergency? Is Katarina okay?” He asked, changing the topic. “She’s good, we’re not because of her,” I reached for my bag, and got the fresh files for Bucky. “There’s a woman with a super soldier army. She has Vibranium armor made for them by a Black Market operator. And she makes weapons for them too,” I handed him the folder and he started to look through it. “There were multiple attacks in big European cities. We suspect she’s going after old Hydra bunkers, looking for more super soldier serum,” Natasha explained, arms crossed in front of her chest, very closed off, to say the least. “I heard about this. They were in Bucharest not long ago, I didn’t know they were super soldiers. How many?” “15.” He kept reading the report. “And how do I come into the picture?” Asked Bucky. “We thought you could help. Steve is not on the case and we could keep you a secret. We’re working with outsiders,” I explained and he glanced at Natasha. “Since when do you work with other people?” He asked more so from Natasha. “They’re Wakndanians, the Vibranium they stole belongs to them,” said Nat. “Do you have a plan?” He sat down on a chair nearby and took off his gloves.
“We track down every Hydra bunker and once we find the least dangerous to the nearby city, we send signals to them so they get there and we take them down,” I explained and he shook his head. “That’s not gonna work. Super soldier serums were only made at certain places. Maybe they are not even after the serum. Have you ever seen them in action? When they were in Bucharest, they rigged bombs and shot in crowds. They are looking for something, but I don’t think they would kill civilians for something they don’t even know about,” he suggested and I sighed. “Okay, then any ideas what they could be looking for?” I spread my arms, looking between Natasha and Bucky. “Maybe they are looking for someone,” spoke Natasha. Bucky shifted in his seat, already knowing where this was going. “Not specifically for you, maybe Steve. Maybe she wants to draw attention to one of you and lure you into her team,” Nat elaborated on her idea. I went through every option on how we could come out good in this situation. We could use Bucky as a decoy but I’m sure he wouldn’t be happy about that. Involving Steve is the last thing I want to do. “We find out where their next attack will be. If T’Challa can find Klaue in time, maybe he has something on her that could help us. I can make you a suit so you won’t be recognizable,” I pointed at Bucky and he just nodded. “Klaue is the dealer, right?” He asked and I said yes. “We have a safe house on the edge of town, you can come with us. Have a good night's sleep. In a bed,” Natasha nodded towards his pathetic mattress. “I’m fine here, don’t want to bother you guys,” he said, avoiding eye contact. “Bucky, please. It’s the least we could do after barging in on you,” I insisted and he looked at me with an unsure expression. “Alright, thank you,” he agreed with a tiny smile.

Game On
Natasha Romanoff x Stark!Reader
Summary: You could never turn down a challenge from your father, but this time you wish you did.
Warnings: blood
A/N: my first actual drabble, I don’t know how I feel about it, lol! I hope you enjoy though!!
Tumblr media
“I bet you that you couldn’t even ignore Romanoff if I put three of my suits on the line!” Tony scoffed, continuing to work on a damaged blaster from his latest mission.
“Oh, really! Dad, Pepper literally has you wrapped around her finger. You couldn’t ignore her if you tried.”
“What? Ignoring Pepper is like my job. I’m amazing at it.” You stood up, walking over to your father who softly jammed a finger into your chest.
“I bet you that I can ignore Pepper longer than you can ignore Natasha.”
“And I get the suits if I win?” You ask, you weren’t going to ignore Natasha without any reward coming out of it. “And you get the suits if you win.”
“And bragging rights.” He added on, holding out his hand. You grabbed it, shaking it in agreement.
“Game on, dad.”
Now, any logical person would disagree and accept the loss, but Tony loved to brag. Whatever punishment you were going to receive from Natasha would be way better than hearing that your father had finally beaten you at something.
It was the first night of ignoring Natasha, she had just gotten back to the compound from the grocery store.
Tonight you guys were supposed to be cuddled up watching movies as you talked about your day, but instead, you were doing a stupid challenge with your dad, so you left yourself drowning in work in the compound lab.
Twenty minutes had passed by the time you were already supposed to be in Natasha and your shared room.
You started to regret even agreeing to the challenge, then in the back of your head an image of your father dancing on the tabletop bragging that he won played through your head.
Yeah, you weren’t giving up any time soon.
“Detka?” You heard a familiar voice call out, you didn’t bother to lift your head, already knowing who it was.
Natasha huffed, not getting a response. So, she quickly walked towards you. “Detka.” She repeated, less soft this time.
You ignored her, again.
Natasha sighed out, walking behind you to rest her head on your back, as her hands rubbed from your shoulder to down your arms. You silently sighed in contentment, loving how her hands felt on you.
“If I did something, please tell me Y/N. I don’t want you to go to bed angry at me.”
God, she was making this so hard. You cleared your throat, brushing her off of you. You didn’t see it, but a flash of her passed through her eyes.
And then she left, obviously pissed off at you, or maybe even frustrated. Whenever you guys would get into a fight you’d talk it out like adults. So, why were you being so distant all of a sudden?
As she was walking towards your shared bedroom she bumped into Pepper, immediately apologizing. “Oh god, I’m so sorry. Are you alright?”
Pepper nodded, “Yeah, I’m sorry as well. I wasn’t watching where I was going— I was just thinking..”
Natasha frowned at Peppers's distraught state. “Is something wrong?”
“Just Tony, he’s been ignoring ever since this afternoon—“
“Wait, what?” Pepper nodded in response, “Yeah! I don’t know why we were doing so well? We were finally working as a team— I don’t— I don’t even know what happen, it’s like a flip switched.” She stammered out.
“Y/N has been ignoring me as well. Do you think?”
“They planned this together.”
The cat was out of the bag, after both girls talked about it they came to a good solution. They’d let you guys get a taste of your own medicine.
When Tony went to bed he saw Pepper laying on a chair in their room, all he wanted to do was pick her up and cuddle her all night.
But he couldn’t, he wouldn’t lose a challenge to his own child. It would be embarrassing! He has to set an example.
You went to bed feeling cold and sad, Natasha had taken all the covers and didn’t even attempt to cuddle you, she wouldn’t even face you!
You didn’t get any sleep, you waited to see if Natasha would roll over and cuddle you, or if she would wake up to use the bathroom so you could tell her about this idiotic challenge your father put you up to.
All you wanted to do was forfeit and cuddle with your girlfriend.
“Are you alright, Y/N?” Vision asked, concerned, which was pretty understandable, it was the next morning and you looked like a zombie. Visible bags under your eyes, and you stayed in the same position all morning. A cup of coffee in one hand, staring ahead of you.
Natasha wasn’t there when you woke up, and you had even made the effort to search the entire compound, still not seeing your favourite redhead.
“I’m sure she’s fine Vis,” Wanda told him from the living room, “C’mere.” You turned your head, seeing as she made grabby hands at Vision who smiled, quickly walking to cuddle with Wanda on the couch.
You wanted to do nothing more than throw the cup of coffee at the couple, actually. . . maybe that was too harsh. You wanted to do nothing more than cuddle with your girlfriend, and yell at your dad about how stupid this idea was.
You didn’t know that you were squeezing the coffee mug so hard until it broke, pieces of the cup flew and the coffee spilled all over the countertop and floor.
But you still stayed in the same position, only Natasha in your mind, how beautiful, Tony in your mind, how dumb he was and how idiotic he looked doing his victory dance.
You jumped at a hand on your shoulder, “Y/N.. your hand is bleeding, maybe you should head down to the infirmary. Vis and I can clean this.. mess.” Wanda told you sincerely, you nodded, walking out of the kitchen and into the hallway towards the infirmary.
Once you made a right you saw your father, who was just staring at wall. That’s right, Tony Stark was just staring at a white empty wall.
“Dad!“ His head snapped towards your voice, relief washing over him. “Oh my god! Kid, oh gosh.” He stammered out, overly excited to see you to tell you how much he wanted out on this bet, it was killing him inside.
“I give up!” You yelled at each other in unison. Tony sighed, a smile on his face. “Oh thank god, you give up.”
“What? No, you just gave up.” You argued, he literally just quit? How did you give up?
“If I recall, five seconds ago you said ‘I give up.’ Isn’t that right?” Tony argued back, motioning with his hands.
“No— what! You also said—“ You were cut off but a loud gasp from behind you. “Detka, what the hell happened to your hand!”
As if it was some sort of movie, you turned around, seeing your girlfriend looking as beautiful as ever, as everything was moving in slow motion.
Once everything was back to its normal speed, you smiled. Moving your uninjured hand to cup Natasha's cheek, which she immediately leaned into.
“Darling, I’m so sorry. I love you so much, I— I was avoiding you because Tony, he was—“
“I know, I found out.”
Tony spoke up, his eyebrows furrowed together. “Excuse me, what exactly do you mean you found out?” Natasha scoffs, “Your child is here bleeding and all you care about your stupid dare?”
“My child is bleed—“ His eyes dropped towards your hand, shock running throughout his body, suddenly in dad mode. “My child is bleeding!”
“Jarvis, tell the infirmary to be ready!” He rushed towards your side, pulling you towards the infirmary, Natasha on the other side doing the same.
You had to get your wound cleaned out and stitched up, and Natasha and Tony stayed by your side, holding your free hand, acting like you were in a life or death situation.
Once the doctors finished they both sighed in relief, you were going to be fine.
“Natasha—“ You were cut off by a pair of lips, the same pair of lips that you missed so dearly. The kiss was short and sweet, but it was enough to tell how much you guys missed each other.
When you pulled away she rested her forehead on yours, a hand still on your cheek. “I love you.” She whispered, you smiled placing a soft peck on her lips, “And I love you, so much more.”
“Impossible.” You went to lean in again but jumped back at someone clearing their throat.
You and Natasha turned your heads at the sound, being met with your father. “Yeah— Hi. Happy for you guys, I am, but you’re making me feel lonely here and Pepper isn’t going to talk to me, even if I explain why.”
You sighed, “Okay, we’ll help you win back Pepper.”
“Yes!” Tony cheered, hopping out of his seat, and dancing his way out of the infirmary.
Before he exited the door you called out, “Wait! Do I still get the suits?!” You don't know if he ignored you, or just didn't hear you as the door shut and he was still in fact, dancing while mumbling ‘Cant touch this.’

Secret Love Revealed
summary: tony finds out about his daughter’s relationship with natasha
pairing: Natasha Romanoff x fem Stark!reader
word count: 1.3k
warnings: panic attack, lmk if i need to add any more!
A/N: so i wanted to kinda rewrite my first fic on here i ever wrote I Love Her, Dad and then add a greys anatomy reference lol i hope yall enjoy! :D
"She's opening her eyes," That was your father.
"The doctor said she would soon," Definitely Pepper.
"Thank god..." Natasha.
It took a few minutes, but you managed to blink your eyes open to see the people you loved hovering over you.
"What happened?" You mumbled.
When Natasha opened her mouth to speak, you noticed the tears glistening in her eyes. She reached her hand out to hold yours, running her thumb over the back of your palm.
"Detka..." she said softly, her gaze never leaving yours.
"Natasha I-" you were confused, to say the least. You had been with the redhead for almost a year, but you'd kept your relationship secret from your father the whole time.
Just then, he cleared his throat. Your heart dropped as you saw the way he was looking at Natasha.
"They know," your girlfriend muttered, keeping her hand on hers.
You weren't quite sure what to say. You looked between Natasha and Tony, feeling your heart beat faster.
You squeezed her hand, then took a deep breath in before swallowing.
"So... you guys know about us then?"
Just then, your father took a step forward as he glared at Natasha.
"So how long have you been taking advantage of my daughter behind my back?"
"Dad, I-" you started, but he cut you off.
"She's too young for you, Romanoff! I never thought you could go this low!" He said through gritted teeth.
Natasha wasn't sure what to do. On one hand, she absolutely did not want to tolerate Tony going off on her like this. But on the other hand, she didn't want to risk her relationship with you more than she already had.
When you got hurt on the mission, it was bad. Bad enough to where Natasha was unable to contain herself and her composure. She was panicking and sobbing as Clint tried his best to comfort her.
"I can't lose her, I can't lose her," she said between sobs. Her best friend pulled her into his chest and wrapped his arms around her. She let out a few more tears, clinging onto him for dear life.
"I can't lose someone else I love. I can't. I can't lose her, Clint,"
He kept his arms around her as she started sobbing again.
"It's okay," he told her. "Y/N's strong. She'll make it through this,"
"I can't lose her,"
"You won't,"
In the midst of her breakdown, Natasha failed to realize that Tony was just a room over and could hear her sobs and everything she was saying.
That was the moment he realized her relationship with his daughter went far beyond a mentor-mentee friendship.
Now, he stood at the foot of your bed, shooting glares at the woman you loved.
"She's not taking advantage of me! It's not like that, Dad! I love her!"
"Y/N, you're barely old enough to know what love really is,"
You sat up straighter, looking him straight in the eye as you squeezed your girlfriend's hand again.
"You don't get to say that! She didn't take advantage of me! And so what if she's the one who teaches me how to fight? It's not like I'm a child; no one took advantage of anyone! It just happened, and I'm so glad it did because I love her!"
He opened his mouth to protest, but Pepper held her hand up to stop him. So you continued on.
"I don't know if you've noticed, but I've been incredibly happy this past year. You know why? Nat. She makes me so happy, Dad. I don't know what I would do without her. I love her more than anything. It's clear you don't approve, but that's not gonna stop me. She's my everything. I love her, Dad,"
Before anyone else can say anything, you felt a pair of hands gently cup your face.
"God I love you," Natasha murmured softly.
You were about to reply before remembering Tony and Pepper. Despite your little speech, he was still glaring.
By now, your hands began sweating profusely as your heart pounded even faster. Your breathing quickened, prompting you to squeeze your girlfriend's hand even harder.
Your anxiety kept increasing with each passing second. Soon enough, tears came to your eyes as you looked at everyone in the room.
What if your father separated you from Natasha so you'd have to break up? What if she decided she wouldn't put up with his protectiveness and just break up with you? What if he'd forever be angry with you for lying to him for almost a year? What if your relationship dynamic would change for the worse now that he knew?
Before you knew it, you were completely hyperventilating in the hospital bed.
Both Tony and Natasha began looking at you with concern.
"Detka?"
"Y/N/N?"
Even Pepper left the room to get a doctor. She could tell something wasn't right.
Your thoughts continued racing as you looked between them. Soon enough, it felt as if your heart was about ready to pound out of your chest.
You barely even noticed the door opening again, revealing Dr. Cho.
"Y/N, would you like some water?" She asked, wanting to get you to calm down before things escalated.
If anything, that just made you panic worse.
"SOMEBODY SEDATE ME!"
Natasha's hand finally left yours, and that was the last thing you saw before you closed your eyes once again.
-
When you finally woke up again, everyone was still in the room. You still didn't open your eyes, but you heard them talking.
"Our your daughter is happy, Tony. Natasha makes her happy. We should let them be."
Just then, you opened your eyes. Everyone seemed to let out a collective sigh of relief as they noticed you were awake.
Tony sighed before turning to you and Natasha.
"Fine," he blurted out. "If she makes you really happy, then I guess that means you have my...approval...to be together..."
You could hardly believe it. Your hand found Natasha's again, but you kept looking at your father.
"But," he said sharply, turning to her. "If you hurt her, I will make sure you never see the light of day again,"
"Wouldn't dream of it," she replied.
He looked between the two of you, then nodded. Before saying anything else, he got up and exited the room.
Then, Pepper made her way over to you and kissed your forehead.
"I want you to be happy, Y/N, and I can see that you clearly are happy together. A blind man could see the chemistry between you two. But what your father said still stands," she turned her gaze to Nat. "Be good to her,"
With that, she walked out of the room and closed the door behind her, leaving you and your girlfriend alone.
"That could've been worse," you said, chuckling as you leaned against her.
"I guess it went as well as it could have," she replied.
"Now that they're gone, I get to kiss you now,"
"Is that so?"
She smiled, then softly pressed her lips against yours. You reciprocated the kiss, wrapping your arms around her.
"Guess that's settled then," she said once you pulled apart.
"Guess so,"
"I love you, Natty,"
"I love you more, Y/N/N,"
"Nope," you said, pressing another kiss to her lips.
She smiled against you, hugging you even tighter.
Now that you two didn't have to worry about keeping your relationship secret anymore, you had all the time in the world to argue over who loved each other the most. All you needed to focus on was each other.

Hurt/comfort prompt 19 “Aren't you tired?” “Don't worry about me.” With Natasha
Here you go!
19. “Aren’t you tired?” “Don’t worry about me.”
Sorry for taking so long!
Sleep
Tumblr media
“Aren’t you tired?” You asked, looking up at Natasha.
“Don’t worry about me. I’d stay up with you all night if you asked me to.” She responded, running her fingers through your hair.
“I just don’t want you to be tired tomorrow. Cause of work and all that.”
“Y/n, detka, I’m fine. You’re more important. If you can’t sleep I’ll be here to mess with your hair until you do. I’ll be here to talk to you, and watch movies and maybe even read to you if you ask.”
You nodded and snuggled in closer, closing your eyes. “Y’know, sometimes I stay up because once everyone is asleep it’s peaceful. There’s nothing but silence and it’s nice.”
“Invite me next time.”
“Deal.”

IDIOTS IN LOVE
Steve Rogers x F! Reader
incl. Natasha, Wanda, Bucky and Tony
Summary: Being in love with Steve Rogers isn’t easy with all the dates Natasha sets him up with. One day you’ve had enough and ask her to set you up, something you’ve never let her before – and a certain blonde isn’t too pleased.
Warnings: Angst to fluff! Jealous! Steve and Jealous! Reader. Misunderstandings. Two blind idiots in love with each other. 4.3k words.
Tumblr media
“Okay, I’m off to bed,” You said through a yawn and got up from the chair you’d been sitting in for the past hours, drinking and chatting with Natasha and Wanda.
Natasha took a sip from her glass, before asking, “See you in the morning for our run?”
“Count me in,” You nodded and walked towards the exit, your head facing Natasha, “Goodnight ladies.” The second you faced away, something tall crashed into you, making you trip on your own feet.
“Woah careful, doll!” A familiar voice said, as a hand grabbed you by your waist to steady you, “Are you okay, angel?”
“Steve! Oh- Thanks!” You felt a bit embarrassed as he was still holding onto you, his blue eyes looking down at you with what seemed like concern. His face was close, so very close, and his lips-
“Steve you’re back!” Natasha cheered from behind you, interrupting the moment, “How was your date?”
You immediately felt your heart drop at her question. Steve had been on a date. Again. You took a step away from the super soldier, looking down as he shifted his attention to Natasha, “It was good.”
You snuck out of the room in the blink of an eye, not wanting to hear about yet another one of Steves ‘good’ dates that never lead to a second one. Couldn’t he just choose one of the girls and make it official? That way you had no reason to hold onto the hope that he just might, someday, reciprocate your feelings.
You didn’t see the disappointment in Steve’s face when you suddenly disappeared out of sight.
You woke up in the morning with a burning headache. Partly because of the wine last night, but mostly because of Steve keeping you awake for hours. You always stayed to hear how his dates went, but it was always the same: “It was good, but there won’t be a second one, I’m afraid. Better luck next time Nat.”
Though what if it was different this time? What if he finally found the one? Your thoughts and feeling of regret were interrupted by a harsh knocking on your bedroom door. You knew it was Natasha and got out of bed. The floor felt extra cold this morning.
“I’ll be down in five!” You yelled trough the door and went to get dressed for your run. After swallowing some painkillers for your headache, you left your room to meet the redhead, desperately in need to get some fresh air.
You and Natasha jogged from the Avengers compound and ended up in the nearest park. As you felt the morning sun warming your skin, you felt a little relief lift off your shoulders. You needed this.
The two of you sat down at a bench, kind of like creeps, observing the civilians enjoying their own morning.
A dolled-up lady was walking her dog, or more like, the dog was walking her. You shared a laugh with Natasha at the sight. Your eyes followed her movements, watching as she passed a little girl blowing soap-bubbles. The little one let her tongue out to taste the bubbles, only for her nose to scrunch up in disgust.
“Cute.” Natasha commented from beside you. You smiled and let your eyes wander along with the bubbles flying away, which popped right next to an older couple holding hands. “Aww, look at them!” You commented.
The husband of the old couple, smacked his lady’s butt, growing a mischievous grin on his face. “Now, that’s cute.” Natasha commented this time.
“I know! Old people are the cutest.”
“I can only partly agree with you there. Buck and Steve are quite the old men,” Natasha laughed, “Wouldn’t call them cute.”
You chuckled lightly as your eyes left the old couple. To you, Steve was so much more than cute. He was the kindest, most caring man you’d ever met. He always listened to your small and bigger problems. He was always willing to drop everything to help you out. He was always by your side whenever you got hurt on a mission. You had no doubt he cared for you, and yet… he still went on all those dates like you weren’t even an option. He made you feel so special and loved, and you weren’t even each other’s. Oh, how lucky the one who wins his heart would be.
“Y/N? Earth to--”
“Oh, sorry!” You snapped out of your thoughts at Natasha trying to get your attention.
She gave you a concerned look as she spoke, “Are you okay? You seem down.”
“It’s just my head, it really hurts.” You excused, wiping away a tear you hadn’t noticed before.
“I’m sorry. Should we walk back? We can take it slow.” Natasha asked and got up from the bench, lending you a hand.
You accepted her hand and cracked a small smile, “Thank you kind lady.”
Once you started walking back towards the compound, a familiar figure caught your eye. Steve, with a girl beside him, was walking in your direction.
“Would you look at that! Steve’s on a second date,” Natasha cheered at the sight of Steve and Sharon Carter coming closer, “He said yesterday they wouldn’t go on a date again.”
Natasha was clearly trying to share her excitement with you, but all you felt was a knot tightening in your stomach. You liked Sharon, you really did, but of course she, a Carter,  would be the one to finally win Steve’s heart.
Natasha was waving at the pair, just to make sure they saw the two of you. The jealousy in your body didn’t help much with the headache, making you feel sick, “Nat, I’m just gonna go, okay?”
You weren’t in the mood to stand around and wait for Steve to arrive with his new love interest, you didn’t even bother to give Natasha a smile, “You can wait for them if you want. I’d like to have some alone time anyways.”
Natasha wasn’t sure how to react, starting to feel like it wasn’t just a headache bothering you, “You sure?”
“Yeah, I’ll see you later.” You left without taking another look back, leaving Natasha to start worry about you.
You didn’t see Steve’s expression go from excitement to concern as he watched you leave Natasha behind.
Back at the compound, you fall down onto your bed, soft sobs rocking your body. You’re tired of loving a man you’ll never have. You have his friendship, but your heart is still not satisfied. Now that Steve has found a beautiful woman like Sharon, maybe you can finally try to move on.
You roll onto your back, looking at the ceiling as your tears dry out. What are you going to do?
Then, it hits you. Natasha.
Just a soft knock on the door and a hug later, the redhead asks what she can do to make you feel better. You let out a sigh and ask away, “Could you help me, maybe… find a date?”
Natasha wasn’t sure she heard you correctly, but when you nodded, her face lit up in excitement, “Of course! It would be my absolute pleasure!” She didn’t even ask why you wanted a date all of a sudden, she was just happy you’d finally give her matchmaking a chance.
“Oh my god! I have so many guys in mind. They would all be so lucky to have you Y/N. I have to pick one worth your time though!”
You chuckled as you listened to Natasha ramble on about who to pick for you, a feeling of excitement growing in your stomach. You were finally ready to give someone new a chance.
As the moon shone through your window, you thought about what tomorrow would bring. Natasha had already picked out a date whom you’d meet tomorrow night.
Busy in thought, you suddenly felt your stomach growl. Slipping out of bed, you put on a pair of slippers and wandered out your door towards the kitchen. Truth be told, you had been avoiding going around the compound in fear of meeting Steve, which also meant skipping dinner.
You fixed yourself a bowl of cereal and let your thoughts wander back to your upcoming date. What dress would you wear? Maybe the blue one? No. What about the white, the one you knew Steve loved so much?
“Hey.”
The sudden sound of a voice made you jump in your seat. As you choked on your cereal, you felt a hand patting your back.
“I’m sorry for scaring you. Are you okay, angel?”
You looked up to find Steve looking down at you. Damnit. You managed to embarrass  yourself in front of him again.
“I’m fine, thanks.” Your voice sounded hesitant, your eyes going back to your cereal. You listened as Steve made himself a cup of tea behind you, not a single word shared. You felt awkward.
You hoped he would just make his damn tea and leave - but of course not. The man sat down, right beside you, half facing you as he took a sip.
“So…” Steve began, and you felt yourself wanting to disappear. You were in the mindset of moving on a few minutes ago, but here he sat, the man you were so in love with, alone, giving you all of his attention. “How’re you doing? We haven’t talked much since, well, yesterday.”
Steve’s voice sounded hesitant, and you knew, that he knew, that something was up. The two of you hung out every single day, so not talking for 24 hours was unusual.
“I, uh… I’m okay. I’ve been a bit tired lately, that’s all.” You lied, and you didn’t sound very convincing either.
“Nat told me about your headache earlier today, at the park-”
“Yeah, I’m fine.” You interrupted him, a hint of annoyance in your voice. You really didn’t want to talk about it. Especially not think about the sight of Steve walking alongside his new girl.
You hear Steve let out a sigh at your answer. You were hoping he’d let it go, though you knew Steve too well. The blonde put down his cup and turned his body fully towards you this time, “Y/N,” His voice sounded serious, “I know something’s up, more than just a headache, and it worries me. So, please, what is going on? Did I do something?”
You didn’t know you had it in you to be angry with Steve Rogers, but when you felt your blood boil, there was no going back. You jumped out of your chair and looked at him with rage in your eyes, “Why do you care, huh?”
You saw the immediate hurt in Steve’s eyes, his expression shocked at your sudden outburst. You didn’t care though, “It’s been a fucking day, and you’re worried about me because I haven’t talked to you yet? You haven’t even been home! The last time I saw you, quoting Natasha, you were on a second date with Sharon! Shouldn’t you be with her now anyways?”
“Y/N-”
“No! Why the fuck do you sit here and talk to me like I’m the only thing you care about, like it matters how I’m doing? It doesn’t make any sense! You’ve always been like this, yet I’m just a friend sitting around while you go out and fuck all the girls Natasha find for you!” Your breath is heavy, tears threaten to spill from your eyes,
Steve was reaching out a hand to you but retracted it as tears streamed down your cheeks. You pointed a finger at the man, your teeth gritted together as you spoke, “And lastly, I am under no obligation to tell you anything about my feelings! So please, stop treating me like I’m your fucking girlfriend!”
Without taking another look at him, you spun around and left the room. As you disappeared out of sight, you ran down the hallway to escape into your room, not wanting Steve to follow. It was when you shut your bedroom door, you realised what you just did.
You yelled at Steve, for the first time ever. Worst of all, he hadn’t done anything to deserve it. That night, never ending sobs were rocking you to sleep.
As you stormed out of the kitchen, you didn’t see the look of heartbreak in Steve’s eyes. They carried more worry than before, confusion and a load of regret as he started to catch on to what was going on with you. It was all a misunderstanding, and he felt like the biggest idiot in the world.
Getting ready for your date was supposed to be fun and exciting, but after you yelled at Steve last night, nothing seemed to cheer you up.
You regretted every single word you yelled at him. He came to check up on you, but all he got in return was your anger. Though maybe it was for the best, now he had no reason to care about you anymore. You were an asshole. The thought hurt like hell, but you chose to use it as an excuse to ease your feelings.
You dressed up in a white beautiful dress, paired with a pair of white heels. It was Steve’s favourite outfit of yours – he had told you so with words, but his eyes when he looked you, oh, they said so much more. That's were you got the nickname angel from.
It was time to give the outfit a new association, perhaps, the first outfit you wore out with your new potential love interest?
As you walked down the compound hallway to leave, familiar voices came from the kitchen. You knew snooping was wrong, but you couldn’t help listening as it was Steve talking.
“I’ve been a fool Buck,” Steve sighed, “What am I gonna do?”
“It’s all a big misunderstanding, right? Just tell her everything and I’m sure she’ll understand. Y/N always understands.”
“Yeah, tell her I’ve been going on a new date every week for the past year so that I can forget about her?” Steve groaned, “It sounds awful.”
It did sound awful. He really wanted to get rid of you huh? You didn’t understand why but his words hurt. “-so that I can forget about her.”
You sniffled and was ready to sneak past them, not wanting to hear anymore, but of course, both men noticed your presence. Stupid super hearing.
“Y/N?” Steve asked and walked a little closer to where you were standing, “Wow, angel, you look-” Steve gave you the same look as he always did when you dressed up. He looked at you in awe, which you usually loved, but now, you hated it.
“Princess, you look beautiful!” Bucky commented and walked over to kiss the top of your head, “Where are you headed off to?”
“Oh, I-” You looked at Steve, then shifted your attention back to Bucky, giving him a shy smile, “I’m going on a date.”
The words felt relieving to get out in front of Steve. Now he would know not to treat you like a girlfriend, since you were trying to see someone else, right?
“Oh, really?” Bucky sounded surprised, but you ignored it, “Have uh-” You noticed as Bucky gave a quick look at Steve, before plastering on a big smile, “Have a nice one then! Can’t wait to hear about it!”
“Thanks Buck,” You smiled, “I gotta go.”
As you rushed out of the room, you didn’t see Steve clenching his jaw and fists. He was irritated at himself for letting it come to this. The feeling of jealusy made him feel sick.
It was an hour into the date, and you were actually enjoying your time. The guy Natasha had set you up with was an agent you had met before during some mission, Christopher. He was cute and had such golden retriever energy - he made you genuinely smile for the first time that day. Apparently he had been smitten with you for a while now, and to no surprise, Natasha knew.
As time passed by, it was time to head home. Both of you had work in the morning anyways. Cristopher followed you all the way back to the Avengers Compound, giving you a kiss on the cheek, “Thank you for giving me a chance Y/N. I had a really wonderful time. Will I see you again?”
Busy with your date, you didn’t see Steve standing nearby, observing the whole thing. He was tense, saddened and growing more and more jealous as he watched you laugh with the other guy.
Steve had come out to get some fresh air, to clear his head, but was interrupted by your arrival. You looked so beautiful, and the sound of your sweet laughter made his knees weak. Oh, how he wished he was the one who caused it.
The morning after your date with Cristopher, you felt the best you had in the last few days. You hummed as you entered the kitchen, the smell of something delicious hitting your nose, “Oh, what’s that smell? It’s amazing.”
“’I made pancakes, so I hope you’re hungry!” Bucky cheered and handed you a plate. You accepted it gladly and sat down at the table next to Natasha and Wanda to your left, and Tony to your right.
“Hey girl, you seem happy. I’m guessing the date was a success?” Natasha asked as she took a bite of her breakfast.
“You finally went on a date with Steve? Rhodes owe me money-” Tony started at the information.
You almost chocked on your first bite of the pancake. Why would he even think that? Didn’t he know Steve was dating Sharon?
“No, Tones, wrong,” Natasha corrected him, “She went with that guy Cristopher. Remember that agent who wouldn’t shut up about her?”
“Oh yeah! The guy who was blabbering about Y/N almost as much as Steve does!”
Steve was blabbering on about you?
“Anyways, tell us how it went? When’s the next date?” Wanda asked, eager to know.
You chuckled a little nervously, “Well, you see--” You stopped talking as soon as Steve entered the kitchen, shocked to see his fallen shoulders and saddened eyes.
You observed as he grabbed a plate of pankakes, before heading over to the counter to make his morning tea. It was weird not hearing a good morning, or getting greeted with his soft smile. You had no idea what was bothering him, and it killed you inside.
"Y/N? You were saying?" Natasha questioned, as you had left them all hanging.
Your eyes didn't leave Steve's figure, even though he was facing away, "It uh... The date was good."
You watched Steve's whole posture tense as you spoke. Oh, how much you wanted to ask if he was okay. You just didn't feel like you had the right to. The last time you spoke, you were yelling at his face.
"Come on! Give us the details!" Tony pushed.
You shook your head, suddenly not wanting to bother Steve with details of your date. You plasteted on a forced smirk, "You'll have to wait and see if we weet again."
"No come on!"
As Steve was facing away, you couldn't see the tears forming in his eyes. You couln't see the absolute heartbreak on his face from the thought of having lost you. He really felt like he had lost the most important person in his life - and you didn't even know he saw you as such.
Over the past few days, you hadn't shared a single word with Steve, and it was starting to drive you crazy. You didn’t even face each other while in the same room - it was a good thing you hadn't shared a mission yet.
All you wanted was for Steve to be happy, and to be his friend again, so with that, you decided it was time to apologize for your behaviour – even if he wouldn’t forgive you for being such an ass, you knew it was the right thing to do.
Your palms felt sweaty, and your mouth all dried out as you stepped outside his room, “Okay… here goes nothing.” You knocked on the door, feeling your heart thump rapidly against your chest.
When he didn’t answer you knocked twice, then again and again. Giving up, you asked Tony’s A.I. for help, “FRIDAY, where’s Steve?”
“In the gym ma’am.”
You let out a sigh, “Is he… okay?”
“From what I can tell, he seems distressed and angry.”
You felt a knot in your stomach. It was 8 pm, and Steve never worked out in the gym that late unless he was upset, “Fuck… Thanks FRIDAY.”
Earlier that day, Steve had been walking past the door to your room at least five times, with the intention to make up. Though the super solider was way too nervous to bother you and chickened out. It was killing him not having your company every day. He missed you. So, with his emotions changing from heartbreak to anger, and the heavy regret from not telling you the truth and let your relationship come to this, he escaped to the gym.
You entered the gym and carefully closed the door behind you. It took you seconds to see Steve by the six destroyed punching bags on the floor, the seventh about to face the same faith.
Steve’s back was tense, and you could see the anger he was feeling in every punch. You felt the knot in your stomach from before tightening, your palms even more sweaty. Taking a deep breath, you walked up to him; it was time to face the music.
Speaking of music, before you knew it your ears were singing a high-pitched tone, your head hurt and your whole back was facing the cold floor beneath you.
“Oh my god!” Steve rushed to your side, worry in his voice, “Are you okay? I’m so sorry Angel!”
You blinked a few times before looking up at the concerned man above you. Putting a hand to your head, you groaned out due to the pain. Releasing deep breath, you let Steve help you up, “I guess I deserved that.”
You had been so smart to come up behind the Captain and stand in front of the punching bag. Because of Steve’s quick and hard punches, he failed to notice you in time, and punced the bag into you, sending you flying to the floor.
“Seriously, are you okay, doll?”
The concern in Steve’s voice made you forget why you came her in the first place. You only nodded and let him lead you to sit down on a bench. He didn’t let go of your hand as you both sat down.
Steve let out a shaky breath. It was clear it had scared him when he saw you flying in the air, and it was all his fault too. You could see the guilt on his face. He still cared so damn much.
You had enough of Steve feeling so down because of you, he didn’t deserve a second of it, “Steve I’m okay. I’m the idiot for creeping up on you like that… Also, I kinda deserved it after how shitty I’ve been treating you.”
“What are you talking about?” There was confusion in the Captain’s eyes.
“Just… let me talk.” Suddenly you had the courage to just get it out. You took hold of both his hands and looked deeply into his blue eyes, “I’m so sorry Steve. I’ve been an absolute asshole towards you.”
Steve opened his mouth to say something, but closed it as you shook your head, “Let me continue. You’re my best friend and I have so much love for you. You’ve been nothing but good to me, and I was yelling at you for it. Thinking about how good you treat me, your friend, I can only imagine how good you treat Sharon. She’s very lucky and I wish you guys the best.”
Your gaze fell from Steve and down into your lap, “I… I’ve been jealous. With all those dates you’ve been on… Why couldn’t you just pick one the girls and get it over with? I…”
“Cause none of them were you.”
You looked up at him, shock in your eyes, unsure if you heard him correctly. Steve plastered on a small smile, his eyes so soft as he looked into yours, “Y/N, there’s nothing between Sharon and I. The other day, when you saw us at the park, we were walking back from visiting Peggy’s grave. It was only a coincidence we were there at the same time.”
“Oh… but what about your date the day before? You said it was good?” You asked, feeling almost ashamed.
“You left too soon to hear what I told Nat and Wanda. I had a good time, but I wasn’t interested. I’d have way more fun with someone else there with me…” Steve’s voice was low, his hand coming up to caress your cheek, “I can’t hold it back anymore Y/N. I love you; I always have. And those stupid dates?”
Tears were streaming down your cheeks at his confession. Never in a million years would you have thought he loved you back.
Steve chuckled lightly, a hint of sadness in his eyes, “I went on those to get you off my mind. I never belied you could love me back, you’re way too good for me, Angel. Though every damn date I went on, I just couldn’t get you off my mind. Every time they wanted me to come home with them, I only thought; No, I can’t do that to my best girl.”
“Steve…” You felt so stupid for not having confessed your feelings earlier. All this misunderstanding could’ve been avoided, “I love you too. I love you so damn much Stevie.”
Steve breath caught in his throat, not sure he was hearing you clearly, “What?” The word came out weak, like he was scared to wake up from a dream, “What about--”
“Cristopher?” You giggled, “Oh, I had a nice time with him, but you know, he wasn’t you.”
Steve laughed loudly and you joined in. Both of you realised how stupid and blind you had been. You loved each other.
Steve caressed your cheek again, his thumb stroking over your soft skin. The look in his eyes were different than before; you knew it was love. His features, his voice, all soft, “Can I… kiss you?”
You only nodded and let him lead you towards his lips. The kiss was gentle, but a firework erupted inside of you. It made tears fall from your eyes, his too. Pulling away, Steve kissed the top of your head before speaking, “My beautiful, Angel. I can’t believe I finally have you.”
You threw yourself forward and let him wrap his strong arms around you. His embrace felt like home.
It felt so right, and finally, your heart was satisfied.
You didn’t see the tears continue to stream down Steve’s cheeks. You didn’t see the huge weight being lifted off his shoulders. He was so damn in love with you, and he already knew that someday, he wanted to call you his wife.
THE END! Thank you so much for reading, feedback is very much appreciated <3

Replaced | Part 2 | Natasha Romanoff
Tumblr media
Pairing: Natasha Romanoff x Stark!Reader, and Tony Stark x Daughter!Reader
Story warnings: heart disease/failure, loss of a parent, absent father.
Story summary: Your father, Tony Stark, has been rather absent in the recent years of your life. What will happen when you show up at the Avengers Compound after you lose your mom?
Masterlist | Marvel masterlist | Words: 1.8K
Part 1 | Part 2
While you were sound asleep in Natasha’s arms, Peter looked very conflicted in the common room. “What’s troubling you, kid?” Your dad continued the nickname like what you said never happened. “You never told me you had a daughter.” Tony shrugs, “I barely see her, I didn’t see the point of mentioning it.” Peter gets up and heads towards his room as well. “Come on, kid, not you too.” He looks back in disbelief, “I know exactly what it’s like to lose a parent, and the fact that you’re acting like it’s nothing to your own child, while you should be the one comforting her, does not sit right with me.”
When you wake up you realize you fell asleep on Natasha, you look up and she's already looking at you. “Good morning, how did you sleep?” You sit up, “I slept good, but I didn’t mean to fall asleep on you, I’m sorry.” Natasha smiles, “No worries, you’re all good. I do have to go for a bit, I have a short meeting. If you want you can have some breakfast in the kitchen, grab whatever you want.” You thank her before she gets up. “I’ll meet you after?” You nod with a small smile.
In the kitchen, Wanda was already busy making pancakes, “Hey, y/n, would you like some?” You sit down at the counter, "Yeah, I would love some pancakes, they smell amazing Wanda." Wanda puts a plate with two perfect pancakes down in front of you. "Let me know if you want more when you're done, I'm making them for everyone, so I'll be cooking for a bit." You take the first bite, "They're amazing Wanda, thank you! Where did you learn to cook like this?" Wanda gives you a faraway smile. "When I was younger, every moment my mom spent in the kitchen, I was right by her side. She was always so happy in the kitchen, I wanted that too. She taught me everything she knew. Her recipe books were one of the few things that were left after the bombing. I keep them very close to my heart, and make her recipes as often as I can, to remember her and my family." You hadn't realized that Wanda's youth had gone that way. "Oh, I’m sorry, Wanda. I didn’t know. I’m glad your mom can live on through her recipes and the memories you’ve made together.” - “Don’t worry, I enjoy talking about them. It keeps the memories alive, you know?” You nod and continue your breakfast.
When you were done with your first pancake, Peter walked in. He nervously walks towards you, “Hey, y/n, I wanted to apologize for yesterday. I had no clue Tony had a daughter, I never meant to take your place or you know, be a part of the reason your connection with your dad isn’t good.” You pat the empty chair beside you, silently asking him to sit with you. “You have nothing to apologize for, Peter. None of this is your fault, I promise. Plus my connection with my dad hasn’t been good long before he met you, so please don’t feel guilty. I don’t blame you in any way.” That seems to relieve some of the tension the boy was feeling. Wanda placed a plate in front of Peter, without saying a word, careful to not interrupt the two of you. You and Peter quietly eat the rest of your breakfast, until your dad walks in. Both of you look up at him, “Ah, Peter, y/n, I see that you two are getting along well.” You roll your eyes and excuse yourself from the table.
You walk outside and follow one of the paths, not knowing where it will lead you. Eventually, you make it to the waterfront and decide to sit down. You’re just staring out onto the water, deep in thought, when you hear someone walk towards you. Looking over your shoulder you see Wanda approaching. “Hi, Wanda, how did you find me so easily?” Wanda points to the ground next to you, “May I?” You nod and she sits down next to you. “I can read minds, is how. I try not to listen to people's thoughts because it’s generally not appreciated, but sometimes a person's thoughts are too loud for me to ignore. So, I just wanted to check in on you.” You talk with Wanda for a while until her phone buzzes, “Hey, it’s Nat, she’s looking for you. Are you okay with me sharing where we are?” You nod your head, “Yeah, we were planning to meet up after her meeting.” The three of you spend the rest of the morning at the water, getting to know each other better.
A couple days later you’re at the funeral that you arranged. Most of the team was there for support, as well as a few relatives and even some regulars from the bookstore. It was by far the hardest thing you had ever done. After every person that attended shook your hand and said their condolences, Natasha walks up to you. “Hey, you look like you need a hug.” Without saying a word you fall into her arms. She wraps her arms tightly around you and lets you cry into her chest. Her hand rubs soothing circles on your back, trying to bring you as much comfort as she possibly could. Once it feels like you have no tears left, you loosen your grip on Natasha. “Thank you, I needed that.” Natasha moves to your side and keeps an arm around your shoulder. “Any time.” You look out the doors of the room. “Did he come?” - “Yeah, he stood at the back, but left before the condolences. I think he wasn’t sure if you and your family members wanted him there.” You nod, not sure why you cared to know.
The next week you opened back up the bookstore. You were looking through your notes with a frown on your face when Natasha walked in with two coffee’s. She hands you one of the cups and takes a sip of the other, “How are you holding up?” You sigh deeply. “Okay, I guess. It feels so strange without her.” Natasha nods along as you tell her how you’re feeling. “And what about the notebook, what were you looking at?” You grab the notebook and flip through a few pages, “The funeral costs were most of my savings, and since we’ve- eh- the store has been closed all week, I didn’t get any income from it. So, I was trying to come up with ideas on how to earn more money here. So far everything I’ve written down is only going to cost me more money.” Natasha looks through your notes to see what kind of ideas you had come up with. “Do you want to brainstorm some ideas together?” You like the idea and start firing ideas at each other. It must have been an hour later when Natasha came up with the following. “What if we did something with the Avengers? Like maybe we can organize events to read books to kids or something, or we can have the team make book suggestions. That will surely attract more people to the store, right?” - “That sounds like a great idea! But do you really think the team is willing to help?” Natasha takes your hand in hers and gives it a soft squeeze, “I’m sure they will. I think it would be good for us too, we’re always looking for opportunities to connect with the community more. This would be perfect.”
Every free moment of the next few weeks you spent together with Natasha. It started out as planning your idea, but soon you realized that you were not only working on the idea anymore. After planning Natasha stayed over and you watched movies, more than once she stayed the night and you cuddled up after falling asleep during unfinished movies. You don’t remember exactly when it happened, but you knew that somewhere along the line you had crossed the line of simply being friends. When you weren’t working you were either at Natasha’s or she was at your place. On days that Natasha was free, she would join you at the store and prepare things for the first Avenger reading event.
Then the first ever Avenger reading event was finally there. The whole store was full of children and their families, eager to meet the Avengers. You introduced today's readers to the audience, “Please welcome Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and Spider-man!” The event went amazing, you had no idea how it was going to turn out this morning, but this many people was definitely not something you had expected. The team sat and interacted with the kids as their friends were reading a book. They walked around the store with kids and helped them pick out books. Almost all of the families left the store with at least one book. “Thank you all so much! This was incredible, I am so grateful for all of you.” You told the team as they were heading out. Natasha stayed to help you clean up, the rest offered too, but Natasha assured them that it was fine.
When you had cleaned everything up you sat down on one of the couches. Natasha walked up to you with two drinks in her hand, “We should celebrate, today was a big success.” You lean into her as she sits down next to you. “Yeah, we should. What did you have in mind?” Natasha shrugs, “I don’t mind, as long as it’s with you.” You lift your head and look in her eyes. Her eyes move down to your lips, you smile as a warm feeling forms in your chest. You reach up your hand to place a loose strand of hair behind her ear and let your hand linger. Natasha leans into your hand and then forwards until your lips meet. You kiss her slowly, her hands move to your waist pulling you closer. She deepens the kiss and gently pulls you on top of her lap. When you part you smile at her, “So this is what you call celebrating?” - “Hm, only with you.”The next steps for the bookstore made you excited for the future. You were adding two new sections to the store. One called ‘Assembled by Avengers’, a section with recommended books by each of the Avengers. The other was dedicated to your mom’s favorite books. Besides the new sections, more reading events were planned, you expanded it to multiple age groups.
Another thing that excited you for the future was the woman that was currently sound asleep next to you. You turn to your side and scoot closer to Natasha. After placing a soft kiss to her forehead, you cuddle up to her and close your eyes as well.

Monet Issues By Chase Petra
Tumblr media
Summary: You are the daughter of Tony Stark but DNA is the only thing you have the proves he’s your father. You were raised by his assistants and nannies. When an interview comes out, you have a few choice words you want to say to the billionaire.
Word Count: 2.3 k
Warning: implied sexual relationship, child abuse, child neglect, Tony is kind of a horrible father.
“Good morning, Diane,” you said, placing her coffee order on her desk. It was Monday morning and every Monday you brought coffee for everyone on your team. It was a tradition you started when your tech company was 4 people. Now you had about 15 employees, still small but you were in the bar with the likes of Stark Industries and Bishop Securities.
“You are in a good mood,” she said, taking a sip of her iced coffee. “Did you have a good weekend?” You smiled.
“I spent the weekend up north with no service and a beautiful woman,” Diane smiled, shaking her head.
“Good, you deserved it. Let me know if you need anything.” You gave her a salute and headed through the rest of the office. You gave your employees their coffee and asked about their weekends. Finally, you sat down at your desk with a sigh. Mondays were the busiest with long meetings and phone calls to start the week on the right foot. You opened your email and saw you had over 1000 unread emails.
“Morning boss,” Taylor said as she came into your office with her laptop. You rolled your eyes.
“Not your boss, Tay.” You said, not looking up from your laptop. Taylor was your business partner and best friend since grade school. She set a bag down on your desk, you knew it was snacks to help you both get through the long meetings. She shrugged.
“Yeah, but your name is on the building.” That was true. Fundamentally, it was Taylor’s idea to focus the company on advancing medical products for veterans due to losing her father at a young age. But you were a Stark, the company was under your mother’s name as that was when you went by. L/n Production, you wanted nothing to do with Tony.
“Can you tell me why every news station is requesting a comment from me?” You asked. “What the hell happened?”
“That is where I come in,” Emily said, entering your office. Her usual put-together bun that sat on her head was disheveled. She must have had a long weekend and an early morning since no reporters were standing outside your office. “So, I’m guessing you didn’t see it.” You glared at her. “Sorry, don’t look at me like that.” She picked up her coffee and plugged her computer into the TV that was mounted on the wall. It took a moment for it to load and you saw a clip of an interview with your father and Jimmy Fallon. You groaned, holding up your hand.
“Wait,” you said before she pressed play. “Is this going to piss me off?” It was a zoom style interview as Tony lived upstate at the Avenger’s compound.
“Probably,” Taylor mumbled, sipping on her coffee. You sighed and waved your hand for Emily to continue. She pressed the spacebar.
“And your daughter, Y/n L/n,” you could tell the clip was from the middle of the interview. Tony put a smile at the mention of your name. “She’s making quite a name for herself. She and her team were given the Presidential Medal of Freedom and nominated for a Nobel Prize for their work in prosthetics.” Jimmy held up a picture of you and Tony at the White House. You invited him to the event to avoid the press, not that you wanted him there. “You must be extremely proud.”
“I am,” your jaw clenched. “She has made this old man very proud.” Well, that was news to you.
“When she was younger did she always have an interest in falling in your footsteps in the tech world?” Tony laughed.
“Jimmy, I couldn’t keep her out of my lab.”
“Oh my god,” you mumbled, putting your hands over your face.
“Those times spent together are memories that are important to me,” your father continued. “And I like to think that those memories shaped her into the person she is today.” The video ended. Your office was silent. Throughout your entire career, you’ve tried to separate yourself from him. Tony Stark. Ironman. He had many names but father wasn’t something you would call him. You were raised by the nannies he hired. You paid your way through school by working waitress jobs, retail jobs on holidays, and babysitting gigs when you had the time. You wanted nothing to do with Tony Stark since he wanted nothing to do with you. When your mother died, he didn’t even show up to the funeral.
“I’m gonna kill him.” You said, standing up and throwing your work essentials in your bag.  You were taking a trip to Upstate New York. You didn’t wait for Taylor and Emily to say anything as you headed to the door.
“Egghead,” you stopped at the nickname Taylor called out. “I can’t afford to bail you out so don’t kill the man.” You chuckled, waved your hand, and left.
*
“Miss. Stark,” FRIDAY as you walked into the compound. “It has been a long time.”
“And I told you to stop calling me that,” you told the AI. The AI was silent for a moment.
“My apologies, it appears the boss changed it.” You sighed. Of course, he did.
“Where is he?” You asked.
“He’s in the conference room with the rest of the team. Would you like me to alert you of your arrival?” You smirked.
“Let’s surprise him, that’s more fun.”
*
Steve was standing in front of the team with a blueprint of a factory. The words were in Russian. You leaned against the open team, the team was engrossed in what the super soldier was saying you went unnoticed. While one person saw you, a certain redhead. The Russian smirked at you. You set her a playful wink. “Y/n,” Steve said, interrupting Tony. The table looked away from your father and to you. You gave them a small wave.
“It’s my favorite Stark!” Clint said. Tony rolled his eyes.
“Don’t eat my leftovers like last time,” Clint called after you. You flipped him off over your shoulder.
“I’m hurt, Legolas,” he finally looked at you. “I didn’t know you were making a trip up here."
“Finish your meeting. I’ll be in the kitchen.”
That was the problem. You enjoyed the company of the other Avengers but being around Tony made your blood boil. It was frustrating. You opened the fridge and pulled out the ingredients to make a salad. You weren’t sure how long the meeting was going to be.
The answer was 45 minutes. In that time, you ate your salad, made coffee, and joined in on two meetings for work. You were sitting on the couch with your laptop open when the Avengers walked into the common floor. Clint made a beeline for the fridge, to make sure you didn’t eat his food. Steve went by the window with a sketchbook in his hands and Sam sat down next to you, turning on the TV. Finally, Tony walked in but he walked to the coffee pot instead of you. You sighed, standing up. “Do I smell or something?” Sam asked. You laughed.
“No, I have to go talk to the old man.”
“Good luck with that.” You smiled. Tony was pouring a cup of coffee into a mug.
“Hey, can we talk for a second?” You asked. He shook his head.
“Can’t right now. I have to do some modifications to the suit before the upcoming mission.” You bite back a sigh.
“Okay, how about when you are done?” He put the pot back on the machine.
“We’ll see if I’m not busy.” He began to walk towards his lab.
“So you’ll only talk about me in interviews, is that it?” Tony turned back to look at you. “Nice interview by the way. Jimmy knows how to bring out your good side.”
“You saw that.” He said, a hint of surprise in his voice.
“Half the world saw it, Tony, according to how many news stations were in my inbox looking for a statement.” You were becoming the center of attention with the other Avengers. You noticed a few more entering the space. Wanda and Vision were in the kitchen and Natasha were on the couch, her feet tucked underneath her as she watched the interaction between you and Tony.
“Maybe we should take this conversation somewhere else,” You laughed.
“Oh, now you have time for me because a few minutes ago you weren’t going to give me the time of day. But now since your image of yourself is being fucked with you have time,” you took a step forward. “Who are you to credit yourself with my accomplishments? How could you lack such common sense?” You asked. “You may have given me a name but blood doesn’t mean a thing 'cause I did it all on my own. So, disown me, you don’t owe me, I don’t want your money so feel free to leave me out of your will.” The man was silent in front of you. It was the first time you’d seen him speechless. “You don’t deserve the title of my father.” The slap caught you by surprise. You touched the spot he hit and stared at him. He seemed shocked. Your jaw clenched. The common floor was silent. It was a loud silence. “You are lucky I have any ounce of respect for Pepper or I would be suing your ass.” You grabbed your bag from the couch and walked towards the door. You heard footsteps behind you but you didn’t stop until you felt the sun on your face. You sat down on the bench, squeezing the metal. You looked at Natasha. She was frowning as she cupped the cheek Tony hit.
“Do you want me to kill me?” She asked. You shook your head.
“His death is not worth it to add to your ledger,” you said, kissing the palm of her head. She sat down next to you.
“He hit you,” she said. “He put his hands on his daughter.” You nodded.
“I know,” you whispered. “But it’s not your fight, okay?” She didn’t look convinced. She was angry and you knew if you allowed her to, she would march back in there and deal with him. “Just sit here with me.” You placed her head on her shoulder. She sighed and relaxed on the bench.
“Stay the night,” she said. That was the last thing you wanted to do. “This weekend wasn’t enough.” She kissed the top of your head. Her fingers skim underneath your shirt. “I’ll make it worth you're wild.” You smirked.
“Are you trying to bribe me into sleeping with you?” You asked. She smiled.
“You didn’t need much bribing this weekend,” you rolled your eyes. “Please malyshka (baby girl).” She whispered, kissing your cheek.
“Okay, since you are twisting my arm.” She laughed against your neck.
*
Knocking woke you up. You groaned and burrowed your head deeper into the pillow. But the knocking continued. You opened your eyes, blinking the sleep away. Natasha was slowly waking up. Her red hair fanned out over the pillow as she lay on her stomach facing you. “Who's at the door, FRIDAY?” She asked the AI.
“Mr. Stark is at your door,” the redhead sighed.
“I am going to kill him.” She mumbled. You kissed her shoulder.
“I’ll deal with him,” you stood up and found a shirt and shorts to throw on quickly. “Are you going with him knowing about us?” You asked. Natasha’s eyes were already closed.
“FRIDAY must have told him you were here,” she said, yawning. “I’ll deal with him later.” You smiled and headed to the door. You opened it. You could only imagine what you looked like. Your hair was probably a mess from Natasha running her fingers through it. You had hickeys on your skin. Since you were still half asleep you weren’t sure if you were wearing your clothes.
“Tony,” you said, leaning against the door frame. “Good morning. How are you?”
“What are you doing in Romanoff’s room?” He asked.
“Well Tony,” you noticed by saying his name was getting under his skin. “I’m sleeping with her.” You smiled. “I have been for a while,” you added.
“No, not happening,”
“Oh I missed the part where I asked you if it was okay,” you heard Natasha chuckle from inside her room.
“Your my kid I don’t-”
“I’m your kid?” You cut him off. “The last time I checked I disowned you and you slapped me across the face.” There was no bruise but the feeling was there. You flinched a few times when Natasha took you by surprise and touched your cheek.
“Look, I'm sorry.” You stared at him.
“Sorry about what exactly?” You asked. “Because you are the source of all my scarring. I spent too many years underneath rubble that I got myself out of. I put my heart back together. Do yourself a favor and leave me alone.” You closed the door on him. You took the clothes you were wearing off and climbed back into bed. Natasha rested her head on your chest and looked up at you. You loved staring into her green eyes.
“Are you okay, malysh (baby)?” She asked. You smiled.
“Yeah, I’m good.”
*
You made the trip back home that afternoon. It was nice being back in the city, in your apartment. You took a quick shower and changed into sweatpants and a white tank top. It was going to be a long night. You sat on your dining room table with a cup of coffee in your hands. You were watching a recorded zoom meeting that you missed. But you winced from a slight pinch on your neck. You touched your neck and felt a tranquilizer dart. The room around you began to spin. The coffee mug fell from your hands and shattered to the ground. You fell to the floor and the world went black.

Chapter 6 - Dark Phoenix II - Emergence of conflagration
Tumblr media
Part 1:
“It’s our biggest sighting of Klaue in six months. Our destination is Casablanca, Morocco. We all know he operates mainly in Africa. Our sensors have found Vibranium in the biggest amount yet. Our mission is to retrieve the Vibranium. Klaue has become one of our highest priority targets, if anyone messes up this mission I will fire them myself, understood?” Looked around the room of agents. There were about 10 agents plus Sam and Natasha. “We leave 0500 sharp. Vibranium is the strongest metal on Earth, so prepare yourself.” Everyone stood up and took their files before leaving the conference room. “I’d hate you to be my boss,” Sam walked up to me. “I am your boss,” I chuckled dryly knowing he still doesn’t think I’m his boss. “Okay, fine. Is there anything else for the mission? I’d like to be prepared,” he said and I looked up from the leftover papers. “You know your way around raids, we can use your experience with this many recruits. You have to take this seriously, Sam. I count on you in this one,” I said and he dropped his smile and put on a serious face instead. “Absolutely, thank you for trusting me with this.” I gave him a small smile and patted his shoulder before he left.
“Any notes for me?” Natasha leaned against the table, crossing her arms in front of her chest, a slight smirk on her lips. I looked her up and down before going back to the papers. “Notes… Romanoff, I don’t know if I could give you any useful advice. Just don’t vandalize my mission, I heard that’s kind of your thing,” I said without looking at her otherwise I would have laughed straight away. “Yeah, that’d be fun though. Anyway, I was thinking you and Katarina could come over later. I’ve got something for her,” she suggested and I chucked. “Natalia, you have to stop buying her new stuff every week,” I grabbed the papers and made my way to my office, Natasha following close behind. “But I love seeing her face when she's surprised. Y/n, she stopped abnormally fast, we need to spoil her while we can,” her arm gently snuck around my waist pulling me closer so she could leave a kiss on the side of my head. A smile came along my face feeling so much happiness and calmness in our relationship.
The last 6 months were a growing experience. Natasha and I started going to couples counseling. It was my idea and Nat was pretty skeptical about it at first, she needed some convincing but eventually she agreed to do it. After six months of doing it, she actually became fond of it. It keeps us in line I think.
Natasha and I haven’t moved in together yet which I think was a healthy balance to our relationship. We made sure to build it up securely and honestly, trying to be as independent as possible while also being in a loving relationship.
Of course, we spent all of our free time just us two and Katarina. We always try to spend some quality time together, either going to the zoo or some museum that Katarina could enjoy too.
So that’s been great, I love our relationship and I feel like we will be good.
Katarina had stopped growing fast and since the surgery, her hearing and speaking abilities became better and better. She’s gonna turn 4 in just a month and she’s the most amazing little human. Nowadays, she talks your ear off if you’re not careful enough. It became a tradition that every time Natasha was over at our place, Rina read Nat a chapter of Harry Potter.
Her abilities still don't fail to amuse us. She’s reading like she’s in high school and her vocabulary is insanely high. My dad has offered that he could teach her physics and math but I denied it. She’s 4. I want her to have a childhood. Watch her play the snow carelessly, scrape her knee on the playground, cry because she can’t stay up too late, or smudge her face into her birthday cake. I don’t want her to grow too fast unnecessarily. She deserves every little moment there’s to enjoy.
“What did you get her?” I asked Natasha while we entered my office. She took a seat in my chair very quickly. “A set of the Harry Potter movies. Special edition,” my mouth fell open, and looked right at her. “I wanted to get that for Christmas. Oh my god, you have to stop at least until her birthday. You’re gonna steal all my gift ideas,” I said. I packed away all the files and got my bag. “Fine. Ready to go?” She turned with the chair but did not care to stand up. “Just one more thing,” she stood up and closed the door before turning on the shades in the glass windows. “What are you doing?” I asked and she just walked back to me and took the bag out of my hand, dropping it to the ground, making me gasp. “That’s a really nice bag, why would-“ She cut me off with a kiss. Very unexpected at the moment but not complaining.
Her hands were quick to get a grip on my waist, moving to the edge of the table. I pulled myself back for a second, taking heavy breaths. “We need to pick up, Katarina,” I panted. “We have an hour, calm down,” Natasha kissed down my neck, hands roaming my body. “Thank god, I couldn’t have left this room,” I put my hands on her face and pulled her back into a kiss.
***
“I have to make this room soundproof,” I mumbled to Nat as she closed the door behind us. “Maybe next time keep it down a notch,” she bumped her shoulder to mine with a smirk on her face. “Maybe next time-“ “I hate that my office is next to yours,” Maria walked past us.
After I basically ran to the car and Natasha took her sweet time we finally made our way to Katarina’s school and picked her up. I ordered the groceries on the way and once we got to Natasha’s place it just arrived.
Rina ran inside the apartment as Nat chased her while I took the groceries from the delivery guy. “Wow, I’ve never delivered anything to an Avenger, you guys are really cool. Thanks for keeping us safe,” said the man, and I appreciated how nice he said it. “Our pleasure,” I smiled at him. “Is it possible for me to take a picture with you?” He asked a little hesitantly. “Of course, no problem,” I stood next to him and we took a picture before he said thank you and left.
“Was there a problem with the order?” Asked Natasha as I entered the kitchen. “No, he just wanted to take a picture with me. He was really nice,” I said.
Unpacked all the stuff we ordered and after a little while I cooked something real quick, not in the mood to make anything big. We sat down and ate then Nat spoke up.
“I’ve got something for you,” she said, pinching Katarina’s side. The little girl’s eyes widened and a big smile appeared on her face. “Really?” She asked. “Yup, stay here,” Nat stood up and went off to her room and a couple of seconds later walked out with a bag in her hand and a cheeky smile on. “What is it?” Asked my daughter curiously. Natasha handed her the bag and Katarina was quick to rip open the box and when she saw it she gasped loudly.
“Oh my god, yes!” She said excitedly and observed the package of Harry Potter movies like it’s a treasure. “Thank you,” Rina jumped out of her seat and was quick to shower Natasha with hugs and kisses. “You’re welcome, baby,” she kissed her head while hugging her close. “I love you, Natty,” Katarina mumbled against Nat’s shoulder and the smile that pulled on the redhead’s face was remarkable. “I love you too, Bean.”
The rest of the day went by really fast. Clint was nice enough to take Katarina to school so I could go to the mission in time so at 4 am sharp I was already at the HQ, preparing for our departure. Got my guns and knives ready and met with Nat and Sam at the deck ten minutes before 5.
“Be aware of the trainees. I don’t want any of them to mess this up or get killed on my watch, but stick to your mission too. Be safe and don’t do anything stupid,” I said to the two of them. “She’s talking to you,” Sam glanced at Natasha who scoffed at this. “She’s definitely talking to you,” she said. “I’m talking to both of you.”
At 5 we took off with the team, flying straight to Morocco. Our estimated arrival was 6 which was successful thank god because I didn’t want them to slip away this time.
“Sam, I’ve got you new glasses, you have to wear these,” I handed him a box and he took it with a smile. “Wow, a present for me,” he opened it but the smile dropped from his face. “They look the same,” he said. “Yeah, but they have a Vibranium sensor in them. It detects metal, which makes our job a little easier.”
“Okay everyone, it’s showtime. Team R leaves first then Team W and then Team S. Comms are on at all times, you see something you share, yeah? Don’t die,” I said then we were ready to go.
Nat left first with her team then Sam and lastly me. I was very protective of this mission because I’ve been after Klaue for the last six months and he always seemed to be two steps ahead of me.
I neared the main entrance with four agents behind me, Nat and Sam’s teams already making their way inside.
It was a bigger building than these compounds usually look. Security was way more advanced and a lot more guarded. “We can get through, but there are way more guards than we expected, Y/n,” heard Natasha over the comms. “Yeah, I got that. But I’m not leaving until I have Klaue.” “You’re the boss.”
