It will never not disappoint me that the one PPG/RRB scene in "The City of Clipsville" isn't talked about as often as a fascinating piece of media satirizing early internet fandom much in the same vein of episodes like "The Itchy and Scratchy and Poochy Show" from season 8 of The Simpson. It's such a smart and funny critique of the shipping culture at the time (which was and still is mostly led by preteens and teens, in comparison to the adult audience of the Simpsons fandom at the time).
I don't know, I think both the animation community and fandom historians really overlook this as a fascinating piece of animation and early online fandom history, and it's always disappointed me. The City of Clipsville is going to be 20 this month, I think it's about time somebody really went in depth and dissected it for a wider audience.

let me just say that tdpi is one of my least favorite seasons and I deeply dislike most of its canon events, but the cast is one of my favorites to write and analyze
#it’s so much easier for me to think up ideas involving them than any other cast member#they’re like one big. found family? I suppose they do have those vibes if they were done to full potential#basically they’re one big group in my head and I love picking them apart and figuring them out#they’d equally give each other so much shit and (in some cases) stick up for each other. I’ve been e-mailing publishers in an attempt to get my picture book published for a year with no success. By now I’m so tired of writing those e-mails that I haven’t even been trying for a while. Doesn’t help that I have no agent. But since the book itself has been fully written and illustrated all this time, I figured that sitting on it won’t do anything, and since I can’t find it in me to approach publishers anymore, I might as well self publish it - like I did with my coloring book.
I’ve been watching the wholesome insanity that Bigolas Dickolas started on Twitter, and I’m hoping that even a little fragment of that weird luck with books and publishers within the Trigun fandom would extend to me as well. So, if you have / know kids that like pirates and fantasy, keep an eye on my blog! I’m ordering a proof copy to check if it looks alright, and then I’ll make the book public - which should be in a few weeks if there’s no problems with the book. ^^
#I'll make a proper announcement when it's available#gonna test this luck and hope I'll get a little bit as well#I will be begging on my knees for people to share the post when I publish the book#I have no income and I'm running out of my savings#so getting some sales would mean a lot to me#this book is very DnD inspired if you are into that#and has pirates#and themes about accepting differences in yourself and in others#and finding your place among new people#you could call it found family too#full page illustrations on nearly every page#it will be available in Finnish and English for now#possibly other languages in the future#I'll have to discuss that possibility with potential translators#since the rights are now entirely in my own hands#as is the marketing

Personality: Laney is pretty chill and calm in general. Things don't get to her easily. They're more internal with their feelings and seem like the type who let's things go like water off of a duck's back, and generally that's the case. However, they do have a tendency to hold their emotions back and have big outbursts later on. Though when it comes to their opinions they've got them and they will be heard.
Laney's got a quiet kind of confidence. Polite even when they know their opponent has no chance in hell of beating them. They just let their opponent have the last word when they know they'll win in a race or a competition. It's rare that they shit-talk, but when they do I'm sure both Thad and Tommy are proud when it happens and when it's really scathing. Thad and Tommy are really supportive in the sense of letting them go a bit wild or being mischievous, but Laney is just "???" in that regard.
Special Talents: Super-speed and hand to hand combat. I think Laney's powers are a mix of the physicality that is associated with Tommy's speed and Speed Force based like Thad. So a bit of the best from both worlds of super speed. So even if she's without he speed powers she still has the physicality/physical prowess.
Headcanons: Enjoys skateboarding, snowboarding, and other physical sports that involve going fast or the world zipping past them. Laney's got future Olympian in their future in either skateboarding or snowboarding. She thinks any sprinting or track competition would be too easy for her.
Only lets their parents or incredibly close friends who have known them forever call them "Laney". Most people tend to call them "Lane".

#just had a strange dream#actually not all that strange and could easily be a reality if I'm not careful#in the dream my sister was desperately trying to get pregnant and I was desperately praying I wasn't#the dream ended before the test showed if I was or not but dream me was already making plans to get an abortion#I have never had and desire to be pregnant or have a baby#irl my sister has had a hard time getting pregnant. they're not actively trying but her husband doesn't like condoms#so she's gotten pregnant a few times#and miscarried several times#and that's tragic and I feel for her#but if I wound up unwittingly pregnant I would still make sure my family never found out and I'd get rid of it#I know my sister would probably pay me out the ass for the baby#but I don't want to sacrifice my body and potentially my life for her#the idea of being pregnant and giving birth is horrifying to me#besides my sister won't be a good mom especially if it wasn't hers#she's a wannabe influencer and any children she has will be props to make her look good#she and her husband are far too selfish and emotionally immature to give a kid the emotional support they'd need#and I wouldn't put any child of mine through that#I woke up with only one thought: that I need to get an IUD before they wind up banned across the US#I'm afraid of how much it will hurt because I've heard some horror stories but I'm terrified of getting pregnant more#tbh I'd get sterilized if I could

I am clinging to the edge of the fnaf fandom by the tips of my nails and it's dragging me in slowly but surely like... Well like an animatronic that wants your corpse. Anyway have a belle security breach au idea.
The virtual reality of U is top of the line vr tech, with millions if not billions of users, each with a unique personally generated avatar. It hosts hundreds of worlds and global events, able to create spectacles impossible in real life.
Naturally, fazbear entertainment would have a huge presence on there, it being so much easier to create, maintain and animate false bodies in the virtual world. They create a mega pizza plex, dressed to the nines in neon and strobes and holograms, and without having to worry about the dangers of npcs turning evil they fill it up with new characters and robotic staff to serve. Even with the many... issues they face with their real world locations, the fazbear name skyrockets, bringing in fame and fortune... And obsessive followers.
One of which is a young woman called Vanessa, who lingers around the pizzaria a little too long for her own safety.
And, years later, a young homeless boy with dreams of performing and government given U earpieces for online education. Or maybe he just stole them.
There's a cool mechanic where visitors can win a ticket to go in freddys body for a time! No one's too sure whether it's an actual avatar with an actual paid performer or just a really good script, but either way glamrock freddy is cool with it. No one really wants to ask his physical counterpart to do the same though, those rumors are NASTY.
Gregory is one of the lucky few, but his scheduled time is when it's getting dark. He steals some pizza out the back of some restaurant for dinner, and enters the virtual world. It's great! It's even better than he imagined! He gets to meet his idol!
But human bodies don't follow into the virtual world.
And the fazbear pizzeria has some worrying rumours.
He's curled up in freddys avatar when something clamps around his neck and

#Me: isn't it messed up that the souls of murdered children are forced to perform for crowds in the bodies of the things that killed them#Wouldn't it be worse if the body was a world famous performer and not just a small time gimmicky kids restaurant#Security breach location is off the wall pricey there's no way they're not making millions now#Afton proves that souls can get somehow possessed in code? Not sure how but what if we went further with that#It didn't come up but Vanny found a 'sleeping' kid round the back of the pizzaria and dragged him in just in case he'd seen anything#Where he was completely helpless and got eaten#In this au she's moonlighting as a virtual security guard to keep hackers out of the megaplex#Also vanny. She's a cult member which made her vulnerable to Aftons manipulation and now she's a right hand woman chugging the evil juice#Of not entirely willing corruption#Vanny is an anon avatar - she would have to log off to switch accounts#Anyway now poor Gregory is trapped outside reality with no idea what happened to his body and possessing his idol#I really like the idea of both freddys being around at the same time. I think the two possessed kids would get on but I'm not sure how#Security breach being virtual would be such a cool idea though. Not to mention it'd explain how it looks like that. Meta!#Also the idea of a possessed animatronic having to work alongside actual ai animatronics and being treated the same would be...#A not good experience for your self worth and mental health#On the one hand so much angst potential#On the other there is significant potential for crack if Gregory just decides they're people and goes found family#And he gets to perform! On a global stage! With his idols! And gets glamorous living quarters and merch and expensive accessories and -#And there is a computer virus going around corrupting his best friends.
